1 A+ Huge, Cheap, LCD Monitor (Update... still no problems)
I wrote this review in January. I have deleted it and lost the points just to add some updates because the review is more important to me. The bottom line is that the monitor is even better than I hoped. NO DEAD PIXILS. NO PROBLEMS... like none, zero. I have found this monitor by far the best bang for your buck. As for going pro and paying more. Go pay more if you want a pro LCD monitor. But to be honest I would put that kind of money into a projector for widescreen movies. If you want an LCD monitor for Counter-Strike, Games, Graphics work, then this is what you want. If you want to present your $100,000 car via video to your client using a 19" LCD monitor in the show room, then obviously go spend $1,000 on a good LCD showcase LCD and not this.
Ghosting is there, but to be honest I have seen ghosting on this and the Dell but there is no way to get near no-ghosting effects without spending on pro LCD monitor, period. And we are talking not domestic Sony products that cost a bomb but pro line broadcast products not found on Amazon... i.e Panasonic pro range and Sony Broadcast stuff.
The NEOVO range sells like hot cakes and competitor prices differ vastly on this monitor because you can sell it at three times the asking price. Basically this is a 19" whooper LCD that sits next to 15" Sony monitors (at the same price or this is much less) and makes them look like little monkeys. The 17" pro models are usually twice the price but this big screen just gets snatched up because it is so much more in size and so much cheaper than the item next to it, and get this... chances are no dead pixels (anything less than 6 is acceptable as long as they are all not clumped together or something. AG actually has good quality monitors. I viewed several of these 19" monitors and have found one with two dead black pixels on white and even I would have bought that if it was the only one left. Seeing monitors is a good idea but AG seems like a good bet on-line judging by what I have seen although I must admit the box felt a little loose carrying it.
Turn on any LCD and the room suddenly gets brighter. Same with this model... yes it is an LCD!
The actual screen appears to curve slightly inwards, a nice effect with the 19" resolution quality (1,280 x 1,024). A Pro 256mb graphics card set at full acceleration and something like an MX1000 laser mouse and I am sure even pro graphics users would not complain about the neatness of their work. Gaming-wise you will never look at another monitor the same way again. In terms of graphics, I will say that the 19" pro monitors where really nice but a way more expensive. This Neovo beat most 21" CRT monitors, hands down, but there where some 21" inch CRT screens that could still compete with this at a cheaper price. Something to think about... but slim is in and the LCD is pretty much LCD.
Of course there are some drawbacks, the monitor does not have a perfectly steady base, does wobble a little more than pro models but does stay standing. You would really have to tilt the desk or hit it hard to knock it over. The pixels are also somewhat harsh if you look at the screen closely and you do see the pixels with clear 20/20 vision which means that it is not really high-end at all except for the size price factor.
To be honest the NEOVO F-419 is more like a very high quality 17" LCD monitor on blowup than a true 19" panel.
Unless you are doing extremely pro stuff like large 2 meter x 2 meter graphic prints or telecine 35mm motion picture film CGI which requires higher resolutions like 1600+, meaning popping the extra (triple the price) for a pro 19" model then undoubtedly you will have a more superior 19" LCD with a higher resolution and probably everything else. No one is going to disagree with you there, but those who have spent money on pro 19" monitors are going to want to keep them for at least five or six years minimum at those prices. Next deal next decade? The F-419 is not cheap but let's face it - I can retire it in three years time from now and feel I got some use for it. Would certainly buy AG again.
However the 19" blowup effect of a high quality 17" monitor makes this thing unstoppable except for those with bigger wallets. Viewing high resolution scans is like a new experience. Playing Half-Life 2 just improved the game like x 100 even though the ghosting on this monitor is a little more noticeable than the pro models but beat any 21" CRT hands down because it is LCD.
In short, budget LCD is here. 15" and 17" forget it... why waste the money? Get this 19" or go 19" pro or better for higher sums.
Pros:
- Best buy LCD monitor at this time.
- Gorgeous Price Tag.
- No dead pixels.
- Huge Size.
- LCD
Cons:
- Not a true 19" LCD.
- Probably under par in every department for a 19" LCD except for all working pixels.
- Ghosting a little stronger than the next $100 model but $100 does not buy you no ghosting (however to be honest there is no monitor like this at the price).
- No height extention (might need shelf)
2 awful monitor
it seems to me that most people that have rated this monitor at five stars have very limited experience in the computer/technology sector. I bought this monitor about three days ago because a frined recomended it to me. This monitor has considerable ghosting when playing games or doing minor graphic work. It also has a very primitive style and feel to it very bland, not at all what i expected. i had never heard of agneovo
now i know why. Anyone reading this review please do yourself a favor DONT buy this monitor unless all you do is simple web browing and text documents. I am returning this monitor back and i am going to purchse a dell "dude im getting a dell", thats the frist thing i should have done, ofcourse the dell monitor is 100 extra but it will be worth it ,,if you need reviews go to computershopper.com they have all the reviews and specs on monitors you will ever need. Finally if youve never heard of a comany or a service its most likely for two reasons one it has just enetered the market(new company) or the company is not reputable and iots services and products are of low quality. have a nice day;;;;;
3 great monitor at an even greater price
I have this monitor for about 2 weeks now, the 700:1 contrast stats along with the digital input deliver wonderful 19 inch real estate that is great for video's and pictures.
I bought this 19 inch LCD display on "price" but also because I wanted a digital (DVI) connection (it also supports an analog connection as well)and I feel as though I gave up nothing and got a great LCD display at an even greater price.
4 Excellent Monitor
I was a little nervous about buying this monitor without actually seeing it first. I read the other reviews and took a chance. This is one rockin' monitor. My eyes feel better already. Bright, clear, and crisp are just a few words to describe this unit. I know my wife will want one now that she has seen it working.
5 It's 25ms response time, not 15ms. Don't be fooled!
I bought this LCD display from Amazon a few weeks ago. It was well packed and no dead pixles on it. As other guys mentioned, it is bright and clear. However, it has a big problem, which is the slow rising time. The product's specification list here is not the same as I found later in agneovo's web site. They advertised a slow 25ms(15ms rising/10ms falling) response time product to be a fast 15ms(5ms rising/10ms falling) response time one. This is really dirty.
When you move the mouse arrow aross a black background, the white mouse pointer becomes brown during the movement. And you can see the black text becomes grey or red text when you scroll a web page like this one. My old Dell 15 never acts like that and it is not supposed to be like that.
However, this should be a good lcd if you do not care about the response time.
6 Best Monitor for the Money
I bought this monitor from Radiflex company for $400 brand new. First I was a little bit nervous because I've never heard of this brand, but after doing more research, this brand is very popular in Europe and Asia, so I went it with anyway. Needless to say, the image quality is awsome. The monitor is well engineered. I'll definitely replace all CRT monitors at my company for this Neovo F-419.
7 Great for the Money
The monitor is quite clear and brite, the adjustment is a little ackward, but you can't beat this from the price. No dead pixles and the picture quality improves the longer it is left on.
8 I might have to get another one.....
But I can't afford it right now. This monitor is excellent! No dead pixels on mine and it's freaking huge! I was a bit hesitant buying this brand, I've never heard of AG Neovo, but "coerced" by the positive reviews here, I took a chance. No regrets. With this monitor and the Envision 17" LCD on its left, I'm in geek heaven. It came with a DVI cable, I mistakenly bought one. Also, the auto adjust feature does not work when the monitor is hooked up via the DVI. I didn't know that, but I emailed AG Neovo tech support and got an immediate response. As soon as I can, I think I will get another one to replace the 17" LCD.
I purchased a second one and the quality is as good as my first one. NO dead pixels. I might have to get two more when and if the prices drop.....
9 If you're looking for a 19" LCD, buy this monitor!
This is a great monitor. I bought this for my office and the difference between my 17" crt and this one is like night and day. The setup was so simple....push a button and it automatically sets the contrast and brightness. NO MORE EYE STRAINING. 5 stars to AG NEOVO!
10 If you are reading this, you found your next monitor...
Very nice monitor. This has all the features: good brightness, contrast, dot pitch, dsub+dvi, 3yr warranty. It is also is wall mountable and has an anti-glare coating- not many are anti-glare, especially at this price. Mine came with a DVI and an L-shaped VGA cable. No dead pixels either.
This deal blows away any retail 19" deal. I spent too much time looking for an LCD, and luckily I found this one before spending more or getting less. I don't usually spend time pumping up consumer electronics, but if you wound up here, this is the one to get.
11 Great Monitor at reasonable price!
This is possibly the best monitor I've ever had. I liked it so much that I've actually bought a 2nd one for my other computer.
When you get it, you do need to play around with the settings to adjust it to your comfort level (when it arrives, it is at full brightness level, and has some pretty weird settings). After adjusting things, it is the best monitor out there!
Oh, and I play LOTS of QuakeIII, and I didn't notice any issues that people were talking about with LCD monitors.
12 Great Monitor
Hi,
I just received this monitor yesterday after shopping around and reading many reviews on many different monitors of this type. For the price, you can't beat it. I can't believe the clarity and I have it hooked up via the analog connection for now. I am a host and website developer and work out of an office with a skylight!. My last monitor glared something awfull. This monintor has cut the glare down by at least 90%. I am only sorry I did not buy this monitor a long time ago. I would have saved my eyes from a lot of strain. I think this monitor is the best buy out there.
13 Relly good but a defective part of pixel
It's really good, quality design but I got a problem after a few days when I found out that there was a defective (sub)-pixel at the middle-top-right of the scree. When you put a black screen, it turns out to be blue shingn blue.... It is very small as it took me a long time to find out but once you know it's there you only see this, although it's very small as it is 1 pixel over 1280x1024 = 1,310,720 Pixels!!! Exept from when the screen (or that region of the screen) is black, you don't see it as the red and green sub-pixels are still working....
Besides that, Exellent monitor, and as people said before it's not true that text is bad!
Regards
14 Great monitor....
This monitor is fantastic. I got a great deal from Amazon, and it was delivered quickly and in perfect shape. I took it out of the box and plugged it in. I am running dual monitors (F-419 and a 17"CRT)on windows xp with 64mb 8Xagp video. The difference between the two is astounding. The black on the CRT isn't black anymore after comparison to the F-419. I have read multiple places that CRTs are superior for gaming. But based on what I have in front of me I would have to say the F-419 would hold up. I have done some recommended ghosting tests to see what type of ghosting occurs on the two monitors and I actually saw more on the CRT than on the F-419. I cannot recommend this monitor enough, plus it looks great and it is super light.
15 Absolutely Amazing
I got this monitor yesterday, and I'm already in love with it. When I first plugged it in, I could barely look at it on 100% brightness . . . now it's on 40%. The colors are as vivid as could be. Initially the text on the right side looked blurry, but then I realized that it didn't support 1268x1024 at 70hz--so I changed it to 75hz and it was perfect. I've really only noticed ghosting when I quickly scroll a page (especially a webpage with white text on a black background), or when I scroll to the sides in a Real Time Strategy game. However, I watched Terminator 3, and the only ghosting I could see was when Arnold was swinging from the truck, and his dark clothes went across the sky quickly. I played a 3D FPS, and it was perfect. ...
16 Excellent Monitor - Recommended Buy!!!
Coming from a 21" CRT, this monitor is incredible! I thought I could expect a little fuzziness, but was pleasantly stunned by the clarity and depth of color. At first, the text WAS rather fuzzy on Windows XP, but then I found a dialog box that allowed me to sharpen the text and I haven't had a problem since. Consider also that I'm running this monitor on a Belkin KVM (Keyboard-Video-Mouse controller) with the second machine running Windows 98SE, on which there never was a problem with the text. On both OS's this monitor has been superb.
We bought two monitors for three computers, so we've really had a chance to analyze their performance. Again, no problems across the board. The "auto fix" button does all the work, unless you're like my husband, who is fussy and likes to be picky about his brightness and contrast. It has an intuitive menu which some might complain about, but I have found to be typical for LCD's.
I did my research on monitors before this purchase and found it to have the best contrast ratio, a digital video input (DVI) and most important - an amazing response rate. When contemplating this purchase, I was concerned that some of my husband's fast-paced bang-em up games would stutter, and I'm pleased to note that the graphics are incredible and smooth as glass. Granted, his machine is running with an 8xAGP nVidia with 256 VRAM, but my 98 machine has only 2xAGP and barely discernable RAM and both look and behave equally well.
Another bonus: you can wall-mount it. If I had a shrimpy desk, I sure would. But as I have oodles of space to fill now, I just keep it set back on my vast desktop.
Overall, I highly recommend this monitor! I can't give it enough praise. The only criticism I can muster is that Neovo isn't marketing it as aggressively as they should. It was hard to find. Various websites (as well as Neovo's) have some conflicting data regarding its response rate and DVI capability. But I have to say that this easily lands in the 10-15 range as opposed to others out there at 25. If you can find one, you won't be disappointed.
17 Text not so bad
I managed to play around with some more settings and discovered the text is not so bad if you play around with phase and clock settings properly. It still isn't great, but it isn't horrible either.
18 Colors are good but the text isn't great
Trailing and colors seem fine but the text isn't so good. It is a little fuzzy at all resolutions (including 1280x1024). I have also played around with the smoothing options in the OCD but it is still not so hot. Playing with clock and phase settings bring it to acceptable levels.
