1 Simply Awesome...
This is a really good book. I'll give the lowdown on it. If you are into games or graphics programming, and use OpenGL, this is a superb book to own. I'll explain what it is about and what you will get out of it.
This book is a reference on graphics, and as you guessed, their application with OpenGL. However, OpenGL is just a thin layer over hardware, so alot of this information is universal. It would have been more fitting to call this 'The OpenGL Bible', as that is what it really is, but that book already exists. So, truthfully, the advanced in the title is not misleading, it is really advanced compared to what most graphics books present.
The book does not have alot of code, nor does it walk you through a tutorial on code on the CD. That is good. I hate books like that. Instead, this is the ultimate reference on just about any technique you're likely to need to do with OpenGL.
It's an expensive book, I'm really fickle about what books I purchase, but I have come to expect very good stuff from Morgan Kaufmann. They produce the highest quality books for discerning hackers everywhere. I'd recommend this if you need one good book on OpenGL other than the Red book. Unlike some api's, you don't need many books with OpenGL, as it does not change, it only evolves forward.
