You'll never have to miss a favorite TV show or movie when you have the Audiovox D1210 portable DVD player/TV combo. This lightweight and slim DVD player and full-featured television plays sharp, vivid pictures on a 12-inch flat-screen LCD display. With the car power adapter, the D1210 can go anywhere with you, but it is great for home use as well.
The D1210 comes with a wide array of DVD essentials, including a fast-scan option that allows you to fly through DVDs, and forward and reverse slow motion viewing. The player remembers where you stopped watching a DVD and resumes where you left off. The D1210 also includes a parental lock-out feature.
The D1210's television connects to both cable and external antennas. Get your viewing started immediately with automatic channel setup. A helpful onscreen menu guides you through the initial selection of your viewing preferences. If you want a larger picture, you can also connect the unit to another TV to enjoy watching DVDs on a bigger screen.
The D1210 features 3D virtual surround sound through its built-in speakers. By linking the player to an audio receiver with external speakers, you can achieve a fuller sound. The player has two headphone jacks so you can share your DVD viewing with a friend, and the D1210 comes with a set of wireless headphones that allow you to watch movies without being chained to the player.
The unit also comes with a kit that makes it easy to hang the player on your car seats--simply hook the mounting rings to your headrests and enjoy the show--and a storage bag that allows you to safely take the player anywhere. You can power the unit through a regular wall outlet or run it in the car with the DC power adapter. The D1210 connects easily to other audio and video components with RCA-type composite input and output slots.

1 16 hours in the car with DVD player that didn't work
Brand new and it worked for only a few hours. Total frustration and a waste of hard earned cash. Spring Break traffic jams and bored kids is what we got with this DVD.
With a 17 hour ride ahead of us and 3 children ages 3-8 waiting anxiously to watch The Incredibles and The Brady Bunch 1st Season we were out of luck. Audiovox and quality seem to be worlds apart. I paid almost 600 dollars for the DVD player and an extra wireless headset and ended up with a useless space hog. With whining kids in the back asking me to please fix the DVD player, I used my cell phone to call Audiovox customer service to find out how to reset the machine. After waiting on hold for 15 minutes, the rep said that I would have to send it back to Audiovox for repair but that his computer was down and I'd have to call back after 12:30 to get a shipment number. Why would I have them repair the thing that didn't even make it through one trip? I'm returning it to Amazon and I won't buy another Audiovox! I'm hoping Amazon will also return the shipping fees and the headphones that I no longer need. I want Amazon to feel my pain and reassess it's sale of a product that doesn't hold up. What I really want is for each of Audiovox's senior management to ride for 17 hours with 3 young children and one of their machines.
2 Too Good to be True
With the combination of screen size, features and price, I should have suspected that this product was too good to be true. To date, I have returned two of these players to the store where I purchased them. The first played one DVD, then quit playing altogether. The second one played DVDs fine, but produced sound from only the right side, whether using the built in speakers or the headphones. I will stick with Sony or Panasonic from here on out...Audiovox is not ready for prime time.
3 Fantastic!
This was a great purchase! I have already been on 2-10 hour roadtrips, one by myself with my 20 month old, and one with my husband and my 20 month old. We even got the sound to run through the speakers of the car, with an fm transmitter that I use with my ipod.--if you do this, everyone gets to listen to the movies. But, a 20 month old will not put on headphones--so this is a great alternative. This unit also hangs on the wall, so when we are home it goes in our son's room. EASY installation. It comes with 2 cordless headphones, and 2 jacks for headphones.
4 Awesome DVD/TV for Home and Away.
The D1210 has proven to be a lot more than I initially thought it would be. Not only are my kids entertained on-the-road, in the back seat of the car. But, the added convenience of bringing along on trips, and having the DVD feature available in Hotel rooms and the bedroom at their grandparents when staying over, has added a whole other dimension in entertainment and childcare to all of the family. Overall the convenience and performance of all of the features of the unit have been great. It has detachable speakers, a complete in-car attachment harness, and all of the necessary cables and accessories to make for a complete solution, without the annoying need to search for adaptors or after-market bits and pieces, to make it work! Audiovox have done their homework and come up with a really great product, that I personally recommend.
5 Great product
I agree with one of the other reviews in that sometimes during the day you cannot see the picture very well from different angles, but this thing is a life saver. We purchased this product last Christmas when our daughter was 1 and a half. We thought the large screen would hold her interest better than the smaller ones. It has been awesome! When we're not using it in the car it is in my kitchen. Now I can cook and clean and not miss any of my shows. But it really got put to the test over this past Thanksgiving weekend. We drove eight hours with a two year old and an eight year old, and barely knew they were in the car. We put it in the back of a minivan, they put on their head phones and other than the occasional plea of the eight year old for no more Dora, they were angels. I would pay twice as much for that kind of peace on a road trip!
6 I like this unit very much
For the "convenience" factor, i give it an A.
7 Could have been great
This could have been a great addiotion to a large SUV. It had a great picture, well designed case and features. Don't buy it. It workerd for the first 2 hours - 1 movie and never started again. When the movie was ejected it was very hot -almost too hot to touch. From that time on it will not load a disk. It is on its was back
8 Don't buy this!!!
Ok, I am on my 3rd exchange. I have had 2 failed units. They both failed on the video side of the unit, but the audio continued to work. The latest exchange has audio problems, and a dead pixel, and I've only had it one day. Don't buy this, or if you do, don't say I didn't warn you. I wouldn't buy any audiovox product. They don't care that the unit is sub standard. I e-mailed them about the units, and their reply was as follows: "Sorry you're having problems with this model" unquote. End of story, no help or offer to help. I would never recommend this to anyone. Buyer Beware!
9 Does not work!!
I bought this over 1 year ago, used it for less than 40 hours and now it will not read DVD's. Also, just before it died, I hooked it up to a TV monitor for the first time, and the picture faded in and out for the entire length of the movie. This was consitant with other DVD's. I called Audiovox for help and they want to charge me $172 to have it repaired because it is past the warranty deadline. I offered them a compromise and they were not helpful. I recommend you continue to shop!! I will never buy an Audiovox product again!
10 Excellent choice
Like the first reviewer, I bought this because I wanted to use it more places than just in a single vehicle. We can use it in my car, my wife's car, the VW camper, or inside. The permanently roof mounted vehicle units cost more and lack this versatility.
The first one I got had a bad pixel (always bright) so I exchanged it and the second one was fine. The sound is excellent, either with the speakers or the nice infrared headsets that come with it. I would like to find a couple more of those.
I also bought a Beamit 400FM device, which plugs into one of the headphone jacks and sends the sound to the vehicle stereo via FM -- just tune to the right FM channel. It works great, but I did have to discover that I needed the WOW off (a feature in the Audiovox) and the volume low. Then I just turned up the car stereo to the desired volume level. Now, when driving, I can at least listen to the movie.
I like this item, and the only negative I would mention is the speakers not working when detatched.
11 Audiovox DVD Player D1210 User Review
I just bought this DVD player. Rather than installing a video system in our new van, we bought this so that we could not only keep the kids occupied on trips, but have something to take into the hotels to watch. I was unable to find any reviews on this, and when you are spending this much money, it would be nice to find the pluses and minuses. So here are mine:
Pluses: This is the largest screen for mobile DVD that I could find. The picture is clear, the sound is fantastic, but even more impressive to me is the infrared headsets that comes with this unit. The headsets make it sound like you are in a movie theatre, and you don't have to have wires strung through the vehicle. The unit also has a TV so that if you buy an antennae (not included), you can use it while you travel. Otherwise, you can easily hook it up to cable in your house. The carrying bag that comes with the unit is very nice and holds everything that you need for using the player. You can plug the unit into the wall for operation or into your cigerette lighter, depending where you are using it, and the unit comes complete with the attachements to hang it on the seats or you can also sit it up on the bed on on a counter for watching at home.
Minuses: So far, the major disappointment with this product is the fact that the first time that we played a DVD, we noticed that there are a few dead pixels in the screen. Although I figured that I could take it back, my concern is that I may end up on a wild goose chase trying to find one that is good. It would seem that for $700, the screen that they put into this unit would not be having dead pixels. The speakers that attach to the side of the screen must be attached in order for them to work - it would be nice if they could either be attached, or be separate. And finally, whenever we want to watch it in the hotel, it is kind of a pain that you have to take it out of its protective casing in order to open the bracket that supports it for standing up. It would be nice if you could keep it in the case.
