Audiovox PVR1000 Portable Personal Video Recorder with 2.5" LCD

Compras Nikon
Bluetooth
The Audiovox PVR1000 is your home away from home: a portable device capable of letting you enjoy your digital photos, digital music, and digital video through a standard headphone jack, a 2.5-inch TFT LCD screen, and a single onboard speaker. What's more, you can use the unit to record video programs from camcorder, VCR, television, or other sources for viewing at lunch, on the road, or on vacation. It'll serve nicely as a digital voice recorder with its own built-in condenser microphone. The PVR1000 offers 32 MB internal memory and an SD/MMC card port for expanding the unit's memory to a full gigabyte.

Compatible video formats include MPEG-4 video, JPEG images, and MP3 and WAV audio files, and supplied software helps you convert multiple video file formats to the MPEG-4-compatible ASF format. Hook it up to your PC--or, when using it as a mass-storage device, to your Macintosh computer, as well--using a standard USB interface.

Use it as an alarm clock and a calendar, or play games (tic-tac-toe, puzzle) on the bus or subway. Share photos with friends, colleagues, or family members. It's DPS-ready, too. That means you can print photos directly from the PVR1000 without ever attaching it to a computer. Shoot with your SD/MMC camera, view and print with the PVR1000--it's that simple.

1 The unit is great for kids
Pros: Good quality TFT screen, video playback, support for larger SD cards

Cons: Awkward UI, poor bundled software, weak manufacturing and design

The bottom line: Unless you're ready and willing to spend $00+ on a Personal Media Center (the gold standard) and want to play portable video and audio - and can live with the limitations - the Mustek PVR-A1 32 is a great choice. Perfect for young kids (and even adults).

The Mustek PVR-A1 is a great unit - we purchased two for our kids at Christmas and have used on a couple of trips with great success. Yes, it has some limitations, but for $129 on line, it has great value for money.

I use the units with 256MB and 512MB SD cards (all regular, off the shelf name brands) with success.

Our kids (both under 7) used this on family trips and it easily lasted a 2 hr flight with battery power to spare.

Negatives include...

- the bundled "Multimedia Converter" to covert files - you can load cards directly from your PC (assuming you have an SD reader on your PC). As noted in other reviews, the PC software application that comes with the unit is not very intuitive and prone to problems.

- operational controls are weak, with limited fast-forward and rewind. if you pause a file you will not be able to play from where you left off if you power down/sleep the unit.

- FF is too slow for watching video.

- low quality design and manufacturing, resulting in a weak batter door, front panel controls. Perfect for smaller fingers, adults may have some difficulty turning the unit on and off. The included soft case and screen make up for these limitations.
2 Not Very good
Bought this..Sound is terrible..Has a white noise during playback of video..The fast forward option is so slow and if you press fast forward in just a little will go back to begining of video..No way to advance video ahead to where you left off..Cant save video position if you turn off must start from begining..Mp3 player is good though..Wish I would of saved money and went with Archos PVR..
