MODEL- F8E814-BLKOPT VENDOR- BELKIN COMPONENTS FEATURES- Optical Mouse USB and PS/2 with Scroll Wheel- Black The Belkin Optical Mouse offers fluid, optical motion when you navigate documents and the Web. It frees you from the inaccuracies and required maintenance of conventional mice that use a rubber- ball mechanism. This innovative device uses a digital, optical sensor that photographs surface motion at 1,500 frames per second. It enables one-click selection of your favorite sites, applications, or most frequently used commands such as double- click, copy, and paste. The optical sensor uses advanced technology to provide precision tracking on any surface, especially those with visual texture. It bounces light off the surface you use, and sends the data to the computer, which makes the cursor move in the corresponding direction and in the right increments. This occurs so many times in such rapid succession that accurate mouse function is seamless. * Provides 3 buttons with scroll wheel * Tracks easily with optical precision on most surfaces * Features programmable center button with zoom control * Works seamlessly for right- or left-handed users * Connects through USB or with PS/2 adapter * Features 6 ft. cord * Comes with a Belkin Lifetime Warranty
1 3-Day Lifespan! -UPDATED-
This mouse has been a regrettable purchase. It died just 3 days after purchasing it. I must say that it did work well while it lasted. The scroll responded perfectly, the movement of the mouse was smooth, it had a comfortable fit/feel, but on the third day, I turned on my computer, and the cursor started spazzing out. It would randomly shake back-and-forth in spurts and jump from here to there as though I were sitting in the back of a pick-up truck going over rough terrain. After unplugging it, the cursor stopped. I plugged it back in, and it began to behave.... for about 2 minutes. It began doing the same thing, so I unplugged it, blew into the optical sensor in case something was messing with its reception, and it continued its sporadic behavior. On the third try, the mouse wouldn't even respond. The cursor didn't jump, and the mouse went kaput.
I guess I should have taken that 3.99, one-year warranty that they offered me upon purchase, but, oh well. At least I'm $14.99 smarter now. If anything, I know I won't purchase from this company again.
UPDATE: The mouse did begin to work again soon after. I blew into the receiver again, so perhaps it was just some dust. I still choose to rate this low because of its unreliability thus far, but hopefully it will have time to prove its worth. Either this was a manufacturing quirk, or it means that I just need to dust. I will update at a later date.
