1 BUSINESS WRITING INSTRUCTION TAKES QUANTUM LEAP!
As a college business communication instructor and corporate writing consultant of 20+ years, I feel my career is about to take a quantum leap forward with my discovery of this magnificent compendium of materials. Mary Ellen Guffey has done ALL the hard work! Juicy, readable text: done. Riveting "inside" information on cool corporations: done. Web-based support? Manuals? PowerPoints? Videos? Done. Fresh writing prompts, some packaged with the research already done? Done. With my old text, I've been drowning in an attempt to supplement and update and enrich the dated material enough to keep it relevant and arresting. Now I'm finding that I have plenty of time to interact with students over their own writing and presentations. I've always felt one-on-one and small-group interaction to be a huge part of my mission as a classroom teacher. Thanks to Mary Ellen Guffey, I'm able to do more of it, while spending less time overall on take-home work. 2 Perfect for the Classroom!
I am an instructor at a business college, and this textbook (along with the accompanying website for students) proved to be wonderful for use in the classroom. The chapters were lively (even for a four-hour lecture class!) and provided real-world details and examples. The website accompanying the textbook has plenty of extra information for classroom use, as well as activities that students can do to review chapters and test their grammar skills.
3 A Great Book for College Students
Business Communication: Process and Product has been the best textbook I have worked with. Everything is presented in a clear and reader-friendly manner. Of all the books I have had to purchase for my courses, this was well worth the investment. Even though I recently earned my degree, and am no longer taking classes, I am still benefiting from owning this book.
4 BC:PP is an instructor's dream!
I teach an entry level MBA class that focuses on Leadership and Communication. Previously, the text for this class was average to poor. I dreaded using it. Starting this semester, we're using Mary Ellen Guffey's Business Communication: Process and Product text. It's a dream! It's a joy as an instructor to have an academic text such as BC:PP that is (a) very applicable to real-world business situations, (b) easy and fun to read, and (c) filled with tons of great ideas for class and homework assignments. In addition, instructors can request support materials such as video, PowerPoint chapter reviews, chapter tests, etc. that save a TON of time and effort! I am truly enjoying using this book, as are my students. I'd HIGHLY recommend it for any undergrad or graduate level communication course!

Business Commuications: Process and Product and its accompanying CD has created a positive and professional atmosphere for teaching communications at the community college. Students are eager to read every chapter and to work on the CD activities.

This text is a valuable teaching tool with lots of examples and models for the blossoming business writer. As a writing skills instructor at a well-respected technical college, I have found this book to be a valuable resource not only as an instructional text, but also as a personal library reference for students as they enter employment and need models to help them produce professional, well-organized documents. I also appreciate the support the author offers instructors and students through her web site that accompanies the text.

Thank you for a text that breaks the writing process into the basic steps for writers who need some confidence-building in their writing skills.

7 Unless you have no common sense, dont get this book
Wow, talk about an insult to intelligence. When you read this book you say "Duh" as you read it. The online quizes coulde be helpful, but using a character called "Answer Man" makes you feel like you are in first grade. If you really feel you need help with your writing skills, don't get this book. Try something else, anything else, but this book.
8 Not appropriate for MBA level
Somehow this book ended up being a required text in my full-time MBA program. We complained so much that this was a 1st year 'college level' book and not appropriate at our level that my school discontinued it the following year. Now I can't resell my 'unused' version on campus. What a waste.
9 STUDY GUIDE! NOT A TEXT BOOK!
I wish I would've read the last review before ordering this product. This is a STUDY GUIDE, which usually comes FREE WITH purchase of the $... TEXT BOOK in book stores. Don't be mislead by thinking you're getting a great deal on a text book. It's not the real thing.

Not true! Please identify the $26.95 book as Student Study Guide to accompany BC:PP. Thanks!


11 Informative and helpful
When I took my first writing class in college, I was pretty sure I knew everything about writing. This book proved me wrong. Yes, it is quite big and there is so much to learn, but the exercises at the end of each chapter are very helpful. I learned how to write all kinds of business letters. Not only was the book helpful for my business relations, it also taught me how to improve my everday writing skills. The author had some great examples as to what we should and should not do. I highly recommend it. Buy the paperback edition. It will be a lot easier to carry.
