Canon has once again raised the bar in the world of 35mm SLRs with its EOS Rebel Ti. Canon claims the Rebel Ti has the fastest autofocus (AF) in its class, which should increase accuracy and precision for shooting at a real-life pace. A built-in flash pops up easily for shooting in low-light situations, and its extended arm reduces red-eye effect. The included EF 28-90mm f4-f5.6 standard zoom lens is an ideal all-around lens for wide angle to medium telephoto photography.
Fast, accurate, and flexible, Rebel Ti's three autofocus systems (the camera chooses the best one automatically) free you to concentrate on your composition and to just have fun. Seven focusing points cover an area wider than any other camera in its class, letting you place your subject off-center or even focus on the area covered by multiple focus points.
The glare-free laser matte viewfinder displays seven wide-area focusing points, which are clearly superimposed to guide composition. There's also a dioptric adjustment so that prescription glasses can be removed for up-close comfort. The extralarge LCD panel is illuminated for clear viewing whatever the lighting conditions.

1 Great camera for intermediate photographer/scrapbooker
I purchased this camera 1 1/2 years ago under the advise of my sister, who is a professional photographer, and I LOVE IT! It is so easy to use, no other can compare. Beautiful photos outdoors but flash is a bit harsh indoors (lots of shadow and overexposed skin tones, even at a distance) I will admit that I don't use the manual modes (only the different modes of automatic) so I am certain there are ways to balance the light of an automatic flash, but I take TONS of photos of my 3 kids with this camera for their scrapbooks and I am rarely disappointed. Excellent for a mom/dad to get great shots of the family. I am currently looking into a digital camera to complement this one, but this Canon is sticking with me as my primary/predictable sidekick.

I bought this machine two months ago and have taken fairly good pictures (SEE THE PICS WITH THE CAMERA INFO). I have yet to read and understand the manual as one reviewer mentioned that you have to read it three times to fully grasp it. Most of my pictures have been taken on Imaze Zone Mode and I have yet to try the Crative Zone but for an ameteur the results have been great. I am sure you can do a lot with Creative Zone . Great camera at such a moderate price.

I purchased my canon Rebel Ti with the 28-90 lens from
Wolf Camera in Charlotte, NC and I have been very happy with it. Previously I have owned and still own and use two different models of Minoltas, an XP-700 and a 400Si. I operate a small one man photography busines from my home and all three of these camera get a real workout. The canon is the new top of the hill user camera for me at this time. 7 Extremely capable camera with excellent optics.
I recently have become very interested in photography, and after a few weeks of reading reviews and conducting hands-on research at my local camera shop I decided on the Rebel Ti. After almost 25 rolls of film I have yet to be disappointed with this camera. Everything about the camera screams quality. Lets start with the body. Its diminutive yet ergonomically designed shape just fit beautifully in my hands, and most of the basic settings are adjustable using just a few fingers. The large lighted LCD display on the back of the camera is extremely readable, and makes it effortless to discern the settings of the camera and make quick adjustments. The body is also compatible with every EOS lens, which makes up the largest selection of lenses in the industry.
This camera defines the term "user-friendly." The mode selector dial on the top right of the camera body is easy to read and use. It offers just about every feature any serious photographer could need, from an aperture priority mode to full manual operation, and yet remains accessible to anyone who wants to just pick it up, turn it on, and start taking pictures. All menu operations such as ISO speed changes and multiple exposure settings are just a few button presses away, and all are easy to set. The camera even offers useful modes such as Auto Exposure Bracketing, a feature that automatically changes the exposure up to 2 f-stops for 3 frames, effectively overexposing and underexposing the same picture. This is useful for getting the exposure just right, and has saved some of my best shots.
The lens is also superlative. Going from a fairly wide 28mm to a moderate telephoto 90mm, the lens works suitably in almost every situation. The zoom is very smooth, and the auto focus is exceptionally fast. The clarity and quality of my pictures taken with this lens have been very good.
I have only experienced a few small problems with this kit, but they are worth noting. The Rebel Ti has no spotmeter, and only uses Canon's partial metering mode, which sometimes has trouble with difficult exposures and strong backlighting. The camera is quite noisy when winding and rewinding film, and takes a few seconds to do both as it prewinds the film. Lastly, the lens has front rotating barrel which prohibits the use of circular polarizing filters, a fact I discovered the hard way. The lens is also a little noisy when focusing.
The Canon Rebel Ti is a near perfect camera for a beginner looking for a solid starter camera or an advanced amateur needing to upgrade or a reliable backup. I love mine, and have no regrets with the purchase.
8 Very Pleased
We cannot write an extensive review at this time, as we only just received the camera a few days ago. But from intial trials, we can say it is much better than expectations. It is light, easy to use, and the first couple of rolls of film came out very promising. There is much to work with and explore with this camera, and I am sure we will enjoy the adventure. The first photos were crisp, clear, with nice images and true color. The autofocus is a big plus, but we shall also enjoy using the manual mode. To this camera, we added a 70-300mm sigma lens, and we are also using haze filters, and polarizing filters.
It is a great camera for the money. Not a bad investment, and not too pricey, saving us money to invest on accessories.
9 Very Nice
After 12 years of other interests, I decided to get back into one of my favorite hobbies - photography. I was looking for an intermediate SLR that could be both fully auto and as manual as I would like. AND not be too expensive.... The Canon Rebel TI fit the order perfectly.
I am very impressed with the features packed into this small, light camera. While, I have had to work and practice a little to understand all the features, I have found the camera to be very sophisticated and capable. I can also point and shoot at those times I just don't want to think about the details. Either way, I have gotten great photos in outdoor scenery, family photos, and the kid's sports.
My only concern with the camera was the electronic view finder. There are seven focusing zones each shown with a red light in a box. I found the red light in the top and bottom boxes have a halo around them as if the light is being reflected or diffused. I had the camera replaced (great service by Amazon!) and had the same issue. I have looked at the same camera in other stores and see it in all of them. No one really seems to know why the problem exists, but it does not seem to impact my photo's. I do not think this is a reason to NOT buy the camera.
All in all, I'm very pleased with the camera and received 2 Honorable Mentions in a photo contest I entered 3 weeks after purchase.
10 Yowza!
To be honest, I'm not much of a photographer, but that's what makes this camera so cool. It's so easy to use. I pretty much take pictures only in the automatic mode, but if I'm feelin wild, i might even just go for.....landscape mode. But for those people who actually know what they're doing, this camera has a ton of other features that I haven't even explored yet. So if I ever decide to go for a more artistic picture -- there are a ton of options for me. I just got my first two rolls of film back and the results were amazing, just as I had expected. But don't base your camera-buying decisions on me. Do the research and you might just find a better camera. Well, probably not.

I really enjoy this camera.
Very ergonomic, completely flexible, full of features (including auto-bracketing, multi-frame advance, pre-programmed settings for typical scenes (night, portrait, etc.), manual modes), good flash, 28-90mm zoom, easy to read lcd screen on the back. To top it all off it's a VERY light load, yet sturdy!
And most importantly, the pictures are absolutely beautiful.
If you're serious about learning real photography at any pace, pick this thing up. You'll feel like a dog who just walked into a meat plant.
12 Great camera for the price.
I got this camera for christmas last year and was immediately impressed at how easy it was to use. I've had a few months now to try out all the features and can honestly say the auto-focus modes are a lifesaver. When your just a beginning photographer they come in very handy. It gives you more freedom to concentrate on what you are taking the picture of. Even beyond the beginner stage it allows you to catch people or places in the momment without worrying about your camera settings. Capturing real emotion when it happens is one of the most important things anyways. Isn't it?
Anyway, five auto-focus modes(of which the auto-focus is extremly fast), and five user-defined modes(for those of us who are more experienced) cover pretty much any situation you will ever encounter. Very light weight. I shot a wedding the other day(the pics came out amazing without any filters or extra flashes) and never got tired of having it around my neck. Its got plenty of other great features too(red eye reduction, ect.). Check out the specs.
Bottom line is that its a great camera for anyone from beginner to semi-professional, and for the price its a great deal. Plus its a very good looking camera.
The only thing I would recomend is upgrading the lens at some time, because the 28-90mm lens requires me to get a little too close to my subjects. Thats just a personal preference though.

13 Great Starter
This camera is very light and has the ability to let you use manual or automatic modes and learn how to take pictures. I would recomend getting the Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens for this camera and a replacement zoom lens (one with a wider maximum aperature) as the lens that coms with the kit is not the best but still takes decent pictures.

This is my first SLR, but I have been using SLRs for a few year. Using the EOS Rebel Ti is as easy as using a point and shoot camera. You well be amaze with the result.

I'm a photojournalist and I like this camera. It's great for beginners. It's light and easy to use. There's automatic focus and you can also focus manually. It's dial features are convenient and fun to use. I recommend it for a first camera.

I've used Canon SLR cameras for the last 21 years and have never had any problems with any of them (a F-1, AE-1, EOS 5). I've been using this camera for the last 3 months and have been very pleased with it.
This camera's initial appeal is the compact, light weight design. However, this camera offers much, much more!
This camera has most of the features and manual setting possibilities found in professional level cameras along with idiot-proof automatic settings that make it as easy to use as a point-and-shoot...
Because you can mount any of the countless quality EOS lenses to this camera, the possibilities of crafting quality pictures is endless. The 28-90 lens that comes with this camera is a good place to start, but don't limit yourself to just this one choice. Canon has been making EOS cameras for the last 16 years and has been a market leader all that time. There's lots of great new and used lenses available.
Another definite plus to this camera is the awesome ergonomics. Unlike most SLR's, you can easily operate this one (including setting all manual and automatic settings) with just your right hand. I've never used a camera that I've been able to do this in a natural, comfortable and secure manner.
17 Great Camera- Perfect for Family Photography
I bought the Rebel Ti about 4 months ago and I am very happy with its performance. I act as the unofficial photographer at a group foster home for kids. We have about 80 active kids who participate in a wide variety of activities. I take pictures at sporting events, boy scout meetings and campouts, school events of all types, fund raising events etc. In other words, I take a lot of pictures (5-7 rolls at some events) at a very fast pace in a variety of lighting situations in which everyone is going to want a pic and is going to want to be satisfied.
The first thing I would recommend is get a flash immediately. The little built in pop up flash is only good for fill-in duty, especially in combination with the 28-90 f 4-5.6 lens. In addition, in low light situations, the flash flashes rapidly in your subject's face to help the camera focus. This annoys and confuses your subjects (they don't know when to smile or if you have taken their picture already). Try to find a flash that uses an infrared beam to help your camera focus. I got a cheap Vivitar 730afc flash and it allows my camera to focus in almost total darkness.
It took me about 5 minutes to learn how to use the Ti on full auto, you just point it at the subject, adjust the zoom to your liking, press the shutter half way, hear the beep that everything is great, then take the pic (you can turn off the beep). The focus is fast and reliable. There are red boxes superimposed over the image in the viewfinder to let you know what the camera is focused on. It is easy to change the focus point if you need to. Despite the wide variety of pics I need to take, I rarely take it off full auto. It really allows me to concentrate on composition and timing. The photos come out focused and well exposed, it is almost impossible to take a bad picture. You can set the camera to be shutter or aperture priority- either way it is really difficult to screw things up (you change the settings using an easy to find wheel right behind the shutter button and a number will flash if the current settings will lead to under or over exposure). If you really want, you can set the camera to total manual. The Ti is also easy to load and unload (except the back cover release lever can be a little tricky when you are under pressure).

I first used a Rebel in high school in my photojournalism class. The ease of use impressed me instead of intimidating me. Ever since then I knew I wanted a Rebel for my own. This Christmas I was more than pleased to find one under the tree for me. I love the new design, the grip makes it easy for a woman to hold onto, not too bulky. It focuses so quickly and takes pics very rapidly. The pics it took looked like a professional took them. It's a great camera, not just for beginners. Just put simply, it's awesome.
20 Not Just a "Point-N-Shoot"
As a dentist, I take a lot of intraoral (macro) photographs. I have a Minolta X570 as my main camera and recently added the Canon Rebel Ti. I agree with the user who recommended that you read the manual several times -- it took me three "reads", with the camera in front of me, to really grasp the "creative modes" -- but the effort is well worth it. Yes, you can use the camera forever on the fully automatic mode, but learn (at least) the following:
-- AEB (auto exposure bracketing): the Rebel Ti will take one shot at exact metering, then one shot stopped down and up (you decide the bracket range). One of them will be the "money" shot.
-- multiple exposures: it sounded hokey to me initially, but the ability to superimpose images is fun to experiment with and yields surprisingly good results.
A-DEP (automatic depth of field): this one is worth the price of admission! When subjects are at various focal lengths from the lens, use this feature. The Canon's brain will determine the nearest subject and farthest subject (as covered by the seven autofocus marks in the viewfinder) and compute the ideal shutter speed and aperture necessary to render all in focus.
**WARNING** If you buy the Rebel Ti kit at a warehouse (Costco or Sam's), check the lens -- it probably has the designation "III" on the front. The one from Amazon (and camera stores) has a "II" on the lens ring -- according to the Canon EOS website, the II has more elements and better specs than the III. If you can find a Rebel Ti kit with a lens marked "USM", that one is better still -- but the kit price will be ...more (and I doubt that the optical quality difference is even noticeable).
21 A Wonderful Camera
This is superb cameras, it is light, but with just a bit of heft, and needless to say really attractive to look at, but that is just the beginning.
The autofocus is swift and very sure, the exposures are excellent, I,ve shot about 6 rolls, the shots are amazing.
Every function is easy to access and you dont need to spend a lot of time going thru the manual.
The viewfinder is really a great surprise, I wear glasses, and with my glasses on I can see the whole frame easily and its clear and bright. To make it even better, Canon has provided diopter correction under the rubber eyepiece, so once you set it, forget it.
In actual use, the ergonomics on this camera are wonderful, easy to grip, hold and shoot, everything is placed about as good as can be, I have never seen an SLR that handles so easily,
The display on the back with a lite is really nice.
In actual use the camera is quiet and smooth.
The only negative is, that in the viewfinder, no indication is given as to wether the flash exposures are correct, but even that is minor, some of the other manufacturers in this price bracket do this, but, it is no big deal, the flash is fairly powerful and all the flash shots I have taken were perfect.
To sum it up, if you want an slr, that will not break the bank, and give you wonderful results, this is it, buy it.
22 Better Than Rebel 2000
The Rebel Ti is replacing the Rebel 2000 and has a couple features that make it a little better.
1) The lens mount is metal instead of plastic. This makes the camera a little better made, and should last longer than the cheap plastic mounts as this area takes a lot of wear from changing lenses etc.
2) The pop-up flash sits higher. This reduces the chance of red eye because the angle between the flash and the lens is greater.
3) Faster continuous shooting speed at 2.5 frames per second, and faster AF (AutoFocus)
One strange feature is that the lens is "backwards" compared to other cameras. You turn to the left to zoom in and to the right to zoom out instead of vice versa, so this may take a little getting used to if you have shot with other SLR cameras.
All in all a decent camera for the entry level user.
23 Canon EOS Rebel Just Got Better
If you still like to take pictures using the 35mm format, then this camera is for you. Like many others, I was quick to purchase a digital camera (Canon Powershot) and enjoy the whole digital camera scene but when it comes to superior photographs, there is nothing that can compare with 35mm photography. I was looking for a new 35mm camera and went into a local camera shop. I was introduced to the new EOS Rebel Ti and it did not take me long to really enjoy the features and looks of this camera. It is significanly lighter then its predecessor and its looks are striking. I like having the menu screen on the back of the camera in a larger LCD screen. It's much easier on the eyes. The different settings allow even the most advanced photographer options that are often found on much more expensive cameras and like all of Canon's 35mm line, the lenses are interchangeable and give you greater flexibility in your picture taking experience. The built in flash pops up automatically in low light settings and you still have the option of adding on another flash on the cameras top. You get so many features for a really great price. ... This is the camera for both the beginner and advanced photographer.
24 You want to learn!
This is my first SLR camera. While I just got it a few days ago, it's safe to say that I love it. It is easy to use for the beginner and takes great pictures. I'm finding quickly that I want to learn how to take great pictures with this camera. I would say consider getting a bigger lens like the 28-105 or 28-135. It costs more but the extra zoom for close ups would be nice.
25 I love this camera
i had a point-and-shoot canon for years and it FINALLY died. i am so happy because i convinced my husband that we should buy a SLR camera to photograph our new baby with so we could take close-up shots and not end up with blurry memories. i have only used the autofocus mode so far and the first roll of film i got back was worth the cost of the camera. it was the first roll of film i have ever had developed where all of the pictures were fantastic! crisp, clear and fully focused no matter how close i was. i am/was thrilled. i feel so much more confident now with my picture taking because instead of dreading picking up my developed roll, i can be almost SURE the roll will be great. don't waste your memories to anything else!
P.S. Yes, when i bought this camera it did say it was a date camera and i thought that was a great price for the date body. it's not the end of the world that it isn't the date body, but Amazon did falsely advertise this camera and that is not good business.

26 Excellent camera
I bought this camera two weeks ago before leaving on a vacation. It was easy to learn to use, and I was very pleased with the results. Its automatic features make it an excellent camera for a beginner, but it has enough special features and manual settings to satisfy a more advanced photographer. The autofocus is very fast and you can use the seven focus points to place your subject wherever you like. The special exposure controls allow you to experiment, but you also get beautiful results when you put the camera in its fully automatic mode or when you use one of its seven preset image controls (i.e., closeup, portrait, or landscape with or without flash). The controls are easy to use and the camera is configured so you can get a good grip and hold it steady. I tried all of the settings in a variety of conditions and out of 240 shots, only 4 were not so good due to operator error. The indoor shots in low lighting were impressive and far better than any I have ever achieved with previous cameras, and the outdoor shots were great.
While the camera is not as light weight or as small as my old point and shoot, it is not too heavy or big to carry around for long periods of time, and the superior results more than compensate for the extra weight and size. As noted by other reviewers, it does not have a date feature but that was ok with me since I don't like having a date imprinted on my photos and have never used this feature with my previous cameras.

Again, ordered because the ad said it was a date camera (the ad has since been revised.) The camera itself is a great camera, just know exactly what you are ordering :( Very disappointed with the false advertising!

This is a great camera for Beginners. All features, and a super quick auto focus. Its also very, very lightweight compare to other similar cameras.
Just a bad coment, because even though it stated it came with the DATE feature on the web, and on the invoice, it didn't have that function
