The Canon ELPH LT 260 is extremely light and compact for those who travel frequently and need a camera that doesn't take up space. It is stylishly designed and includes many performance features to assure sharp, clearly focused pictures. The ELPH LT 260 features a high-quality 26-52mm lens. Its six- element, six-group design includes an aspherical element that produces clear images with natural color. At the touch of a button, the electronic drive zooms the lens from wide-angle to telephoto in approximately two seconds.
The five- mode, built-in retractable flash gives you control over a wide range of low- light shooting conditions. Flash features include auto, auto with red-eye reduction, slow synch for night portraits, and off. There's also a real-time shutter that responds almost instantly to enable shooting of action shots. All the features you've come to expect from an APS camera are included. There's a choice of three print formats, drop-in cartridge loading, captioning, and index prints. Captions include "I Love You," "Thank You," "Season's Greetings," "Happy Birthday," "Congratulations," and date/time imprinting. The ELPH LT 260 fits in your pocket and comes with a fully retractable lens and lens cover so you don't have to worry about damaging the lens while moving from place to place. To conserve the battery, the lens automatically retracts if the camera is left unused for four minutes. Accessories include a wrist strap, soft case, 3-volt lithium battery, and an APS film cartridge ISO 200 with 15 exposures.
1 Disappointing Picture Quality
I bought this camera last summer to replace an old Olympus APS camera that I'd had stolen. I went with this Canon APS because I had always been very happy with the APS picture quality, ease of picture taking and because I've liked the quality of Canon products in general in the past. This camera has been nothing but a disappointment. My pictures are grainy; the colors are washed out; the world through the shutter of this camera is drab, dull and blurry. I've tried everything from adjusting the film speed I'm using to switching who I use as a developer...The results are always the same when I get my prints back. Do not make the same mistake I did and waste your money on this camera.
2 Canon Elph 260LT
I would suggest this camera to anyone who wants a reasonable camera that takes wonderful pictures. I got this camera as a gift a few years ago, and have yet to take a picture that does not turn out perfect. (I do however suggest always using 400 speed film.) I have bought a few of this camera for gifts, and plan do buy more for this Christmas season. I have also talked other friends and relatives into buying this for their use! This is a great camera for a great value!
3 Excellent camera
I bought this camera for my hiking trip in New Zealand earlier this year. I was extremely pleased with it. It's small and convenient, and the pictures it took came out breathtaking! The flash is quite strong: this camera took great night pictures, even where other cameras failed! I also took pictures from airplains, through the glass, and most photos came out very good. Some (not all!) panoramic pictures aren't as sharp as one would ideally hope, but it also depended on how much I zoomed in. For those of you who are unsure whether the zoom feature is necessary, believe me, it is! The camera is very small, stylish and light, and everyone thinks it's a digital. Changing film was a breeze. I used this camera in some rugged conditions in the mountains, and it withstood the test. I wouldn't recommend using it when it rains, though; I don't think it's waterproof. The only thing I wasn't happy about was the fact that the cord attached to the camera was too short to put aroung my neck. This inconvenience can be easily overcome, though. (Also, I recommend using Kodak APS film and developing it at Kodak, using Perfect Touch.) All in all, a great camera, highly recommended, especially for scenic trips where you need to use the Panoramic viewer: you will be amazed at the quality of the pictures!
4 Lousy Camera
Good cameras are made in Japan. This particular camera, made in Taiwan, has disapointed me more than once. The quality of the pictures is increasingly bad and the investment was a waste of money. Unfortunately, things aren't made as well as they once were.
5 best for casual use
this camera is so GREAT! when i show pictures that i've taken to family and friends they believe that they have been perfessionally done!
The many different sizes available to use are fantastic. this camera catches so much! i LOVE this camera!
6 Great Compact Camera
5{ostly use a 35mm SLR camera to take photographs, I wanted a small APS camera that I could use for quick, everyday shots. I looked into reviews of the Canon Elph LT260 and decided to purchase it about a year ago. The Elph takes great clear pictures, plus the 2x zoom and up to 2 second shutter speed are an added bonus. My only issue is the poor red eye reduction. However, I've found that similar APS cameras don't provide accurate red eye reduction either. Overall I'm pleased with this camera.

9 "The Camera for Dummies"
My husband quickly abandoned his larger more sophisticated camera for this little jewel that I purchased for myself. We travel a lot, have grand children we adore, and send out a Christmas card collage every year. This camera is just the best...and a great price! However, I recently lost the nifty little carrying case which is why I am searching this website. Alas, there doesn't seem to be an available replacement. If you purchase, hang on to the carrying case!
10 A terrific camera for precise situations
Whilst not quite a point and shoot product this camera is intuitive to use and delivers an almost infinite variety of choice by varying format and focus.
Somewhat larger and heavier than the basic ELPH LT, it is nonetheless small, rugged and totally reliable indoor or out at any time of day or night from southern Africa to Canada.
My first time using the camera I was somewhat intigued by the way the flash and motorised zoom lens popped in and out, but I was soon accustomed to this.
Pictures have been uniformly excellent, allowing for operator error.
If you wish for a camera which will give you the reward for a little care in composing a shot, then buy this one with total confidence.
11 Red Eye Reduction doesn't work well
I like this camera a lot except for the red eye reduction feature. Just about every picture I get back has some red eye glare. This is disappointing since the camera otherwise takes very good photos.
12 miss
not all the functions advertised were available. for instance, the "mid-roll change" does NOT work. another, the manual focus is NOT available at all.
13 An awesome fun camera
This camera is an absolute Gem, You could never ask for more, the controls are little but once you figure them out it is so easy! I really like this camera!
14 I got a lemon!
Nothing on this camera worked liked it was supposed to and I spent the good part of a day trying! I kept getting a error message and the focus would not zoom in and out like it was supposed to. Now I am back to deciding if another Elph would not be defective.
15 I am VERY pleased
I just recently bought the ELPH LT 260 as a christmas present to myself. I have already had 4 rolls of film developed and been very pleased with the quality. The camera has also been to Russia for two weeks and the pictures from the trip were of beautiful quality. The colors could not have come out better. I agree with a previous review that this camera is ONLY for the "causal" photographer. I currently own 4 cameras because I am a lover of pictures and this ELPH is definitly the camera for capturing special occasions and for trips and such. I definitly reccommed it for the above uses.
16 Great
I love it's easy features and great pictures!!
17 Inconsistent Pictures
I bought this camera to replace my fabulous Elph stolen during a trip to Mexico. I am very pleased with the size and features of the camera but unfortunately the camera takes very inconsistent pictures. Some pictures come back beautiful and other times I'm left with rolls of disappointing shots. I've taken the camera to Europe twice, once with great results and most recently, 3 rolls were terrible. The size isn't worth sacrificing picture quality so I may stick with my large/bulkier Minolta 35mm which takes beautiful pictures. In reading previous consumer reviews, it sounds like there may be a corrolation between picture quality and processing. I may bring one of the bad rolls into another processing center and see if the pictures come back better.
18 Out-of-Focus
The photos from the first roll came out great in terms of color and focus. But the last 2 rolls have produced mostly out-of-focus photos so I'm very disappointed right now. Hope most of you are having better luck with this specific camera.
19 Loved this camera
I recently purchased a cannon elph and I couldn't be happier. It's already been to washington d.c. with me and it took awesome photo's of all the sights. I would recomend this camera to anyone who wants to take clean, easy pictures of the things and people they love!
20 Easy to use and very compact
Unlike the reviewer below, I enjoy this camera. Its compact and can be taken anywhere easily. If you want a camera for everyday pictures and for vacations, I would recommend it. Unless you are a professional photographer, you are probably not going to be taking very many close up pictures and it shouldn't pose a problem. The instructions also clearly tell you that for close ups you shouldn't use the panaramic setting and more is in the frame below the viewfinder. I have had no problems with this camera, just point and shoot, its that easy.
21 Disappointing
The camera has the virtues and vices of the APS system--It is small and convenient to carry, has multiple picture size options, and is easy to use. But I am very unhappy with the picture quality compared with my ELPH LT Sport. The pictures are a bit blurry in comparison. It may matter to some that when you remove a film cartridge, the roll is set to "exposed", so you can't switch film speeds without sacrificing the remaining shots on the roll being removed. Not an awful camera, but not the best. I purchased this camera to replace my stolen ELPH 370, and am less satisfied with it than with my older camera.
22 Cool Camera
I love my Elph! After shooting five rolls of film in Scotland I am very pleased. The pics are clear and bright and I can carry the camera in my shirt pocket. The controls are fairly simple to use and the zoom is a nice feature.
23 Great camera
This is the first camera that I have ever owned, and love it! I took it on my vacation to Florida and it captured the sunsets, beaches, architecture, and everything else with amazing clarity and color. It is easy to use and very lightweight. I highly recommend buying this camera. The only thing negative I have to say about it is that my finger has shown up in the top corner of some of my pictures, although this is most likely a user error more than design flaw.
24 default to panoramic
I bought this camera because my old Kodak Advantix stopped working. I loved the size and style of the Elph, but everytime I took a close-up photo, the camera defaulted to panoramic size. At first I thought the camera was defective, so I exchanged it for another one, and the same thing kept happening. I asked the developer, and they said it has nothing to do with the developing process. I am not sure if this is true or not, and Canon doesn't mention this default factor in the manual. After wasting several rolls of film, I finally returned the Elph and got another Kodak Advantix camera. The pictures that did develop normally were sharp and clear however, and I would have liked to keep the Elph if not for the unpredictability of the sizes that came out.
25 Maybe mine is defective.
I received the camera as a gift. Though the camera is light weight and compact, I was dissapointed to find that the Camera features did not perform as marketed to the consumer. The focus is less than adequate,if you could see through it you may be able to catch a fair picture. The feature for red eye, I would have to ask "is there really such a function?" The majorty of pictures which contain humans, dogs, cats, ect reflect red eye. And if your thinking of using this camera for a active event that may require a bit more rapid advance, be prepared to have photos that are overlapped, that is if the camera even advances the film that you pay more money to purchase and develop. If you are one that has your photos enlarged,(when you get a satisfactory shot) I hope you will not require anything bigger than a 5" x 7", as the film required for this camera can not produce enlargements bigger than the standard 5"x7". So forget making that panoramic picture into a larger size. Needless to say, I am one very dis-satisfied consumer.
26 The best camera for casual photographers
I'm consistantly amazed at what Canon can pack into such a small package. I took a Canon Elph Jr. with me to Rome in the fall of 1999, and the pictures it took are spectacular. This camera has the 2x zoom feature, but otherwise it's very similar. The APS photosystem is easy to use, and the index prints and negatives that stay in the canister are godsends for those of us who are less organized than some. I was particularly struck by the clarity of the photos, the richness of the colours, and the ease of use of the camera. While the 24mm APS format is smaller than the 35mm standard film, the resolution is still excellent. Far better than any digital camera under $1000. One of the most useful characteristics is the tiny size. No one believes this is a film camera when I show it to them. And because it fits anywhere, I take it with me in my napsack and shoot photos of anything I find interesting. (I think my friends have come to curse this feature!) Paired with a $100 flatbed scanner to scan photos for your web page, or to send via email, I think the Elphs offer a far better bargain than any digital camera or film camera available today.
27 A great value in a small package
I bought this camera for my girlfriend's graduation. So far, its been great. Lightweight, easy to use, small enough to fit in my pocket and with great picture clarity. My only complaint is that some of the pictures had too much open space on on either side of the picture's subject. Perhaps a better use of the zoom could remedy that situation.
28 Camera review for LT 260 Canon
Autofocus makes every picture sharp, clear and ... Now, this is a camera that is just your style. So light and slim the ELPH LT 260 fits in wherever, fun, friends and great times take you. With all of it's amazing features, the ELPH LT 260 couldn't be easier to use or more affordable.
29 A superb camera!
One of the main reasons I first started to look into the Elph collection is that I needed a new camera, and the Elph was small enough to fit in all the places I like to keep my camera's in. Second, the amount of features was overwhelming; 2x zoom, four flash modes, drop in film, a timer, messege imprenting, date and time imprenting, and mid-roll change. After I had looked at it a little more, I decided to buy it. And, it was one of the less expensive Elph's. The camera works great, and the three different types of picture shapes (Paneramic, HDTV, and Classic) make taking pictures even easier. If you are considering buying a new camera, take a look at the Elph LT 260.
30 A great camera for the "casual" photographer
Investing in the Canon Elph LT 260 camera was a great decision for me! This camera takes great pictures, the detail and color is amazing. Its small size allows me to take it everywhere, and its tough frame and included carrying case keep me from worrying about it getting knocked around or broken. Also, the auto-focus and 2x zoom lens are just enough for me, the "casual" photographer, who uses a camera to capture special occasions, to bring along on trips, or to just have around for the occasional photo opportunity. If you are a serious photographer, this is probably not the camera for your master shots, but I would still recommend it as a fun, bump-around type of camera that everyone can use and depend on for great shots. I took this camera on a trip to Europe, and the panoramic feature was indispensable for some of the landscapes and views I saw, and the classic snapshot was great for capturing smaller details and pics of my traveling companions - I was thrilled with the pictures when I got them back. Again, the small size made it so easy to carry each day. Also, I bought this camera as a gift for my mom a couple of months ago, and she loves it as well - the drop-in film loading was her favorite feature since she'd always had trouble loading her older, traditional 35mm, and she's also enjoying the APS options. My dad has a little trouble with its small size, though, since the buttons are tiny and his bigger fingers and hands get in the way, so that's also something to think about. One other thing that is sometimes a little difficult is the pop-up flash, which can get caught on things, etc, but it's a minor thing, just something to pay attention to when you use the camera. All in all, this is a great camera, and I think the price is a bargain for all of the features and ease of use that come along with it. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a take-anywhere camera that offers lots of versatility and guarantees great shots.
