The Canon i250 Color Bubble Jet Printer delivers crisp text, no-hassle printing and high-quality photos from the Web--all at an exceptional value. You've heard "no hassle" in regard to web printing, but Canon's specially developed Easy Webprint software makes it a reality. Functioning as a toolbar in Microsoft IE, it automatically scales and smoothes pages to fit your paper properly, and allows you to format multiple pages as a single, multi-column page.
Whether you're printing from the web or your own system, your documents, letters and reports will have clean, truly black text thanks to rich pigment-based inks; with speeds up to 12 pages per minute, the i250 handily keeps pace with the needs of your home office or family. When it comes to printing photos, you may decide that professional processing is a thing of the past-a maximum resolution of 4,800 x 1,200 dpi and MicroFine Droplet Technology combine for virtually grain-free images ready for framing or sending to friends in less than two minutes. Color images print at up to 9 pages per minute.
The i250 printer's compact design fits nicely into limited work spaces; with a weight of just 3.75 lbs, you'll hardly know it's there. A full software package is included to make photo printing easy manageable, and the two ink cartridges are included in the box. USB connectivity means just one cord is necessary, but you'll need to supply it yourself. Canon provides a one-year warranty with Instant Exchange service.
1 No Frills Printer that will save you a LOT of money
I purchased this bubble jet as a second family printer mainly for documents, and letters and have been extremely impressed.
It's fairly compact, very easy to install and use and has already more than paid for itself.
The average cost of a replacement black cartridge is around $3 online for multi packs of 5 and I have purchased multi packs of color cartridges also online at under $5 each including shipping! Compared with many other top brands that cost up to $35 per cartridge - that's a big big saving. As I said this is a "no frills" printer, but actually has very clear reproduction onto photo paper in high color using the idiot proof "Easy Photo" software provided. The Maintenance window allows you to do many functions including resetting the cartridges for low ink warning after installing new ones, a quiet mode for night printing, and many other functions. Another gem is the "Easy-Web" print feature that allows you to capture web pages for printing on standard paper without losing information on the edges, as you would using the regular print function from Windows. The only minor complaint I have is that being a bubble jet, high quality print in both BW and color can take a little while to dry, but other than this - it's a wonderful budget package, with a well known and respected name. If you're into CAD or high quality photo reproduction, imaging and such like then this is not for you - but if you print a lot of draft quality documents, and have a family especially who churn out pages of printed matter per day, this will serve you well, and save you a LOT of money. I've had mine for over 6 months and it is in daily use with NO problems to date. Highly recommended.
2 A great little printer at a value price
At its value price point, perhaps you can't expect perfection from the Canon i250,(...) I find very few reasons to complain.
First off, the quality of printing was surprising for a standard, 4 ink printer, even on digital photos. For photo prints, does it perform as well as, say, an HP Photosmart 7960 with its 8 inks (which is over 4x the cost)? Of course it doesn't. But for routine use, even on the occasional photo, it's really not bad.
When in its normal printing mode, it's not a speed demon, but it does perform reasonably well, and is typical of printers in its class.
On the up side, consumables for this printer are remarkably affordable, providing somewhat of a disincentive to pursue refill kits. They also seem to have a fair and reasonable number of prints per cartridge change. But if you do choose to refill, I've found the print cartridges in the i250 refill easily and effectively, free of print-counter chips (so popular in Epson's printers these days) that are such a pain.
And speaking of Epson, recent Epson inkjets I've used will end-up with clogged print nozzles if the printer sits unused even for only a couple of days. Not so here; I've gone weeks between prints, and it fires-up and works perfectly each time.
Also a plus is the printer's compact size. While you still need to allow space for paper movement, when not in use, the top folds down and it's small, shoebox size let's you put it most anywhere.
Truly, at this price, almost anyone can afford one, and it'd be money well spent in my book.
3 Ink Cartridge is faulty- never worked
terrible, terrible, terrible. I installed the software and all components perfectly. I still kept getting error messages saying the ink cartridges were not installed correctly- which they were. Stay away from this printer. It's not worth the cheap price.
4 ink wells
I think this printer is ideal for me to work from home & do webpage design. I cannot figure how to put ink in when it has run dry though.
Anybody explain it to me please?
5 Lousy images
This thing is pathetic, but then, you get what you pay for so I can't complain too much. The print quality is grainier than my previous printer, an HP930C. I thought that since it had been a couple of years, printer quality would have improved and prices would have gone down, but this little can of junk is a perfect example of being "too good to be true". I wouldn't even hang these prints on my refrigerator.
6 Great Little Printer!
I bought this printer here in Feb and just love it! It is very light and small but prints great. It has amazing detail when printing color pictures. I have printed over 100 pages and my black in is just starting to run low. Super Deal!!
7 lasted 6 weeks
After about 6 weeks of owning this printer, I can't get it to print properly. From the troubleshooting guide, it appears the print head already needs replacing. Not exactly worth the cheap price if this is only as long as it lasts.
8 Another Good Canon Product
I'm thrilled with my Canon i250 inkjet. It has performed flawlessly for a month now. My two teenagers are happy with it also and today is the first time that I have had to replace the black ink cartridge. For an economy priced printer, this one does it all without complaint. The quality of the print, both color and black, is good as well as the speed of the printing. It makes a bit of a racket when printing but you quickly learn to live with the clanky noise. I've had no paper jams so far which is good. The printer is compact and will fit into a small space. The ink cartridges are reasonably priced which is another plus. The USB is not included so be prepared to buy one. All told, I've had a positive experience with this printer and I would not hesitate to buy another.
9 Good stuff... ^.^
I bought this printer because of the good reviews here, and I was not at all disappointed. This printer is better than the $100 one I had before! It is a little loud, but the print quality is excellent, and it doesn't take up a whole lot of space. Not to mention the $6 ink cartridges. You're not going to find a better deal if you want a printer for text documents and the like.
10 Paper Feed
For the price this printer does OK printing, but the paper feed is very poor. Every time I need to print something, I have to manually force each piece of paper into the paper roller.
11 Great Value!!
This printer was inexpensive and it works great. I've had it for several months now, and have used it constantly without any problems. I like this product and would recommend it to others.
12 Remember $350 for a dot-matrix
How far we have come! You may have noticed that we may be getting to the point that it may be cheaper to buy a new printer than to replace a cartridge.
This printer is a bit noisy, but the speed and print quality, especially for the money, is exeptional. What an amazing value.
13 A Student's Dream Printer!
I am a college student, and I bought the i250 seeking a small, efficient printer for printing papers, etc. It is wonderful! It is clean and compact, very quick, and the quality is way beyond what I expected for a $50 printer. I highly recommend it for the student who wants efficiency and convenience for as little cash as possible. Also, ink cartridges are super cheap, which is a major plus.
14 Printer driver patch allows printing for Mac OS X 10.3.2
Purchased printer for Mac running OS X 10.3.2. Couldn't get printer driver to install correctly. Thought I was doomed when read the review "Do not buy this if you are on Mac OSX Panther, January 15, 2004 from Reviewer: mike4023." Called Canon technical support and there is a downloadable patch "bjupdater.dmg" available to fix this problem and now it works fine. Tech support that I not put the link online and to call them directly because they are working on correcting the OS X printer driver that downloadable at their website canon.com technical support area, but haven't finished it yet.
15 Inexpensive Quality
I've had my Canon i250 for about three months and it's worked perfectly. I have gone through two black print cartridges during the time I've had it, but these two ($13) were cheaper to buy than one $30 HP cartridge. Just keep a spare cartridge on hand. Still haven't run out of color yet. Black text is flawless and fast...makes $40-50 HPs look foolish.
16 Perfect inexpensive ink-jet
Considering this printer costs less than the ink for most other ink-jet printers, it has far exceeded my expectations. It prints quickly and has accurate color, what more can you ask from a $50 printer? Another reviewer mentioned that it does not work with Mac OS 10.3 (Panther), they are wrong. There is a patch you can download and install at: http://www.usa.canon.com/techfiles which makes it work perfectly in Panther. Somebody else complained about it not including a USB cable, which it doesn't, as mentioned in the technical specs page. This makes it no different from any other USB printer sold in the last 3 years, so be sure to purchase a USB cable. If you are looking for a cheap no-frills printer that probably costs less than the ink for other printers, I highly reccomend this printer!
17 Do not buy this if you are on Mac OSX Panther
Do not get this if you are running OSX 10.3.2 Panther it will not work it a wast of time and money
18 USB cable
Can not use my new Canon i250, it doesn't come with a USB. No where is this fact mentioned in the description. All of my other printers came with a USB cable and all ready to go when received. If I had known this I would have ordered the cable at the same time. Now I have to reorder and pay extra shipping to get the cable. Circuit City has USB cables for $30 and Office Depot is $20 and only $6.74 on Amazon.... that's a really big price difference. So, it is to my best interest to buy from the internet and wait another 7 days before I can use the printer.
19 Not worth the money
Very disappointed after reading the raving reviews. The paper feed skews the paper, very noisy and takes twice as long to get started to print than my Lexmark Z52. I used it in a home setting and ran thru both ink tanks in a week - no wonder they are cheaper than ink jets. Has problems feeding envelopes with out jamming. The printer has two buttons on top but only one is describe in the manual. It does make nice photos and was easy to install.
20 Halt... make sure of what you are buying
Okay. I was searching for a printer.. I got on Amazon.com my favorite site for information... this site said that this printer could be used on windows 95.. I literally ran out and bought one at 9:00 pm.. the box didn't have '95 on it but I thought that Amazon.com had useful information. I got it home. I had trouble loading it. Now after buying this thing and staying up ALL night and spending half a day today doing a diagnostic on my machine..I can't get this printer to work. It's on my system but the system doesn't recongize a USB can someone help? ugg. Now, I have to call Canon..(and oh '95 drivers are not available on the web!).. help. It's cute printer; sounds great; looks nice on my desk but I can't get it to work. (miclmarin@aol.com)
21 Great printer for its price range
I didn't have high expectations for this low-priced printer, but it has certainly surprised me with its quality and speed. Draft mode for black-and-white pages to save ink is still very presentable, while color pages at normal and high quality are good. It was also easy to install and doesn't take up too much space. The only thing is that it doesn't have an output tray, so if you NEED that you might want to get another printer. I haven't used the i250 long enough to know how long the ink cartridge lasts, but if you want a cheap but good printer, this is the one to get.
22 Super Printer!
The Canon i250 is marvelous. My old HP died, and I wanted an inexpensive printer now because I expected at a later date to buy a new computer and a higher tech printer. Now I need neither. In other words, the Canon i250 allows me to print wonderfully what I thought only higher tech/higher priced printers would! I've been able to print greeting cards, as well as photos and crisply clear documents. The i250 only takes seconds to warm up, and each print job is done quickly and beautifully. This printer allows one to choose a variety of print qualities and paper types to ensure the best print for each job. Set up was super easy, as is the printer's use. And noise? It's not excessive; I never even give it a second thought. Along with superb performance and inexpensive price, another great thing about the i250 is that I can buy both a black and a color refill cartridge for it for less than I'd pay for one HP cartridge. What a super printer bargain!
23 Good printer but a little noisy
I love this printer. It has a small footprint, low cost ink, great print quality, fast print speed, and easy to use printer drivers. I also like the Paper In Tray which can be closed to cover the printer to keep dust out. However, it is much noiser than my old Canon S200 printer. It also takes a while for it to complete its warm-up routing before it actually starts printing. But when it does start printing it is fast. I also noticed that it only has one rubber wheel to feed paper into the printer unlike the S200 which had 2. Thus, there are times when the paper can get fed into the machine a little skewed especially if you are using very thin typing paper. But on the whole I still love this machine.
24 Superbly Well-Rounded & Affordable. Oh, and Mac-compliant!
Where do I start? This little bugger is AMAZING! I actually bought this for my son, because he got an iMac (being the Apple freak he is), and his printer was ailing. So I told him if he found one under $75 I'd get it. He did. He found the Canon i250.
This little guy is so good! The quality is exceptional (and beautiful w/ Mac OS X font-handling.) and he can use it for everything, even printing photos. Now, I don't recommend it for exclusively photos, but for the occasional one, it's fine. Also, refills won't break the bank with about $7 and $15 respectively. Printing time is short; very efficient and quick. Also, it comes with many features that are considered as 'extras' with the others HE looked at. The only problem is it doesn't come with a USB cable, and that's all it's compatible with. But that's OK... I found a Belkin for about $5. I would recommend this to anyone, especially for document designers and offices for its 'bang for the buck'. Amzing features, reliability, efficiency/speed, and quality wrapped in a (very) tiny (perfect for portability.) package that won't break the bank.
25 Best Printer I've ever used!!!!
I've used many printers before from HP, Lexmark, Epson, and others. This printer stands alone as simple, sleek, sharp & clear, fast, small, easy-to-use, and pocket-friendly. Get it now and you won't regret it.
