The Canon i350 Color Bubble Jet Printer delivers high-quality photos, crisp text and no-hassle printing from the Web without compromise. It achieves up to 16 ppm in black and up to 11 ppm in color while delivering a maximum resolution of 4800 x 1200 color dpi. Canon advanced MicroFine Droplet Technology uses a revolutionary nozzle system that ejects microscopic, prescribed-volume droplets with remarkable accuracy for smoother, more photo-realistic images. The i350 printer uses pigment-based black ink for bold, sharp, black text and high-intensity color inks for true-life, photographic print quality - ideal for printing your vacation photos, business presentations, or e-mails from friends and family. The i350 printer enables you to produce edge-to-edge true borderless photos with the look and feel of traditional photographs - a unique feature for its price class. Using Canon borderless paper, you can print 4" x 6" and 5" x 7" borderless photos, perfect for your scrapbook, framing, or sharing memories with others. So save yourself time and a trip to the local photo mini-lab: the i350 printer can turn out a high-definition borderless 4" x 6" photo in approximately 87 seconds.
The Canon i350 Color Bubble Jet Printer delivers crisp text, simple setup, and high-quality photos from the Weball at an exceptional value. Web photos often suffer from poor quality, so Canon specially developed Easy Webprint software to improve them (Windows only). Functioning as a toolbar in Microsoft IE, it automatically scales and smoothes pages to fit your paper properly, and allows you to format multiple pages as a single, multi-column page.
Whether you're printing from the web or your own system, your documents, letters and reports will have clean, truly black text thanks to rich pigment-based inks; with manufacturer-rated speeds up to 16 pages per minute, the i350 handily keeps pace with the needs of your home office or family. A maximum resolution of 4,800 x 1,200 dpi and MicroFine Droplet Technology combine for virtually grain-free images ready for framing or sending to friends. Color images print at up to 11 pages per minute at lower resolutions; it's just 85 seconds for a crisp, borderless 4-by-6-inch photo.
The i350 printer's compact design fits nicely into limited workspaces; with a weight of just 5.3 pounds, you'll hardly know it's there. A full software package is included to make photo printing easy manageable, and the two ink cartridges are included in the box. USB connectivity means just one cord is necessary, but you'll need to supply it yourself. Canon provides a one-year warranty with Instant Exchange service.

1 Canon i350 Ink Jet Printer
Quite a good printer for the price Only problem is as another reviewer pointed out below, it uses the BCI-24 print head, which isn't as available as the more popular BCI-21. But it can be purchased from around £45 if you Google for it. Cartridges are quite small, but relatively inexpensive.
Great printer for the money. Works like a charm. User it at least once a week so the head doesn't dry up and it'll be fine.
2 mine died
as a cheap college student, this was an ideal printer... until it stopped working. it would go online, then offline, back online... and offline again... while i was in the middle of printing! tried changing which port it was plugged into... but that didn't work... DON'T BUY IT!!! buy a better quality canon so you can still enjoy cheap ink cartridges with a lasting printer. i just don't have time to deal with computer components that decide to die in the middle of massive projects or papers...
3 "Canon" Best Printers
I just love my canon printer. The print quality is great and the inks are inexpensive. As a matter of fact I have bought four canon printers (i250,i350) and today I am going to buy another one for my sister. Canon keep up the good work. I have to add that I hate Epson and all the other brands in the market because the inks are just too expensive.
4 Good printer but small ink capacity
In our household we have both an i350 and an i250. On both we like the print quality and ease of use. The i250 does sometimes need to be set on high quality printing to get a good looking Word document out of it. Never had that problem with the i350.
Only complaint; these less expensive ink cartridges are smaller than I am used to and seem to require replacement more frequently. The price when I first puchased this was around $7 for a black cartridge. It has increased by over a dollar so I have begun to purchase Staple's private label brand cartridges.
One other word of advice; this printer uses Canon's BCI-24 cartridge, which is a little more difficult to find in local stores than their more common BCI-21 cartridge. It's frustrating to see a great buy on cartridges at BJ's Wholesale Club, only to realize that the only Canon they stock is the 21.
5 Cheap refills...til you need a print head.
We liked this printer for it's good quality printing, and cheap ink tanks, but on the second color cartridge the magenta nozzles clogged, and I've pretty much burned all the ink in the brand new cartidges trying to get it to work. Now I wish the cartridge came with a new print head like my old worn out lexmark...
Going through Canon's interactve "troubleshooting", it seems like they don't believe the print head can fail. I've done a lot of searching tonight, and I can't seem to find replacement print heads sold anywhere...
I can't recommend this printer.
6 T.C.O - High - Print quality very average -- not a good buy
I bought this printer for its low Total Cost of Ownership as the ink tanks are relatively cheap, however after about 9 months I started to get reduced print quality "banding" which are white lines or missed sections of ink from the nozzels on the Blue part of my prints which is due to blockage of the fine nozzles of the print head. No amount of cleaning could fix this which results in the requirement of a new print head. Investigations show that the cost of a replacement head is almost the same cost as the printer !!
Until Canon reduce the price of replacement print heads to a sensible level i.e < £20 DO NOT buy one of these printers as you will not be impressed by the maintenance costs incurred.
7 I love Canon.
I love this printer! The print speed is more than adequate and the ink tanks are so cheap! (you can find BCI-24 black for ~7 dollars). Installation is simple, and Canon's setup guide walks you through all the steps. The printer doesn't make a lot of noise (my old Epson was LOUD). The remote shut-off feature is novel, and there is even a quiet mode. The main selling point of this printer is the cheap ink, and its low price makes the deal even sweeter.
8 Lousy interface with MacOS X.
This is the crankiest printer I've worked with in a long time. Often I can't get it to print at all and I have to switch software just to get something printed out. Other times it balks, or prints hideously slowly, or just decides it's not going to print until I restart my computer. Ugh. I hate it.
9 Great printer, great buy
I bought this printer based on the PC World review, the reviews here, the price, and the small footprint. The last two were important to me. I can't speak to durability after using it for a week, but it was 40 bucks - if a print head really dies, I can replace it and still will have paid less than the price of the HP I would've purchased otherwise.
Compared with my old HP inkjet, this printer is just as easy to set up, the quality of the output is just as good, the noise when preparing to print is no greater, and the speed is a huge improvement. The same might be true of a new HP of course, but I'm amazed at how quickly text prints in draft mode. It fits nicely in the small space I have available, where the output tray can be hidden away when I'm not printing, allowing me to fully open a door next to my desk. If I wanted, I could fit this nicely on the computer tower also, not the case for the HP I would have chosen otherwise.
My only difficulty was a moment of confusion installing the printer. After installing the print driver (no problem), the installer for optional printer software said to uninstall any previous versions. I had software installed to import images from my Canon digital camera, and it wasn't clear whether that needed to be removed and replaced based on the onscreen messages. Since I simply wanted to use this printer to print text, didn't need the optional software, and didn't really feel like spending time with tech support, I simply skipped the optional software. If you have other Canon hardware and don't want to skip this step, you may have to do a little research first.
10 Replaceable printer head adds to total cost of ownership
I bought this printer for three reasons:
--PC World recommended it as a Best Buy.
--PC World said it had a low cost of ownership.
--it was inexpensive ($50).
Considering the cheap price, I knew it would be a "throwaway"--that is, I expected to have it four a couple of years and then replace it for a new one. However, I discovered after buying it that it has a replaceable part called a printer head. From what I can tell, the printer head dies in about a year, and Canon only makes this part available through direct purchase. I think you have to call customer support first, probably because Canon doesn't want to advertise that the printer head costs more than the printer's original purchase price. (This information is probably true at the time I'm writing this review. However, information was difficult to find, and all my information is second hand from other web reviews. I never actually took the time to call Canon customer support myself.)
PC World never mentioned anything about the printer head, so the magazine probably never factored its cost into the estimated cost of ownership. (Based on ink alone, cost of ownership is reasonable. It cost less than average to print a page.)
The printer's one annoying characteristic is that it's noisy--much noisier than my previous printer.
Please note that the printer's USB cable is not included. (This fact IS mentioned somewhere in the product description.) I didn't buy one from Amazon because I thought I could get it cheaper locally. I was wrong. Amazon sold it for 40% cheaper than I found anywhere in town.
If this printer lasts two years, I'll consider it a bargain (worth more than the two stars I'm giving it now). If the printer head dies after a year (as others say it will), then it really will be worth just two stars.
11 Good Printer Fair Price
I bought a Conon I350 to replace another brand that had a 90 day warranty and stopped printing after 8 months. The I 350 is quicker, easy to operate and the ink cost is a lot less than the one that died. I was pleased to recieve E-Mail from Canon thanking me fior my purchase and providing cost free soft ware for my Canon printer and sending more no cost software later. If I ever need a new printer it will be CANON. Ben-- AZ
12 Good Experience
I bought this printer because it was getting good reviews and was very inexpensive. When I recieved the printer the box had a giant hole in it and the packaging in the inside was broken but the printer looked fine. Set up is extremely easy and impossible to screw up. So I was very suprised when the printer was showing that there was an error with the ink cartriges. I called Canon and after a few minutes they determined that there was some sort of hardware problem. They sent a brand new printer which arrived the next day. The second one set up in a couple of minutes and works perfectly. Also I ended up with extra ink cartriges because the only thing Cannon wanted back was the printer and print head. The printer works great (a little noisey and slow, but inexpensive) and Canon had excellent customer service. I suspect that the printer was damaged during delivery and not during manufacturing.
13 What it does it does good
Hi,
I was searching for cheap, fast, quality B&W and reliable printer for home priting.
So far only pleasant suprises.
1. Separate replaceable print head and ink tanks.
2. Ink is CHEAP. one black cartridge lasts about 300-350 one side pages in draft mode (see next) still i did
3. Increadible good and fast draft mode for documents. In my oppinion it's better than normal mode because on sheets i use
'normal' mode does not look any different just tends to soak the
paper.(i use plain A4 sheets)
4. It's not so loud as people say It does not bother me much.
5. It's pretty fast for an inkjet printer.
Overall it's very good. Better than my previous 3 owned.
I hope it lasts long :) so i can firm my good impression.
14 Fantastic Printer at Great price
We have been SO happy with this printer after our Lexmark Z42 just got to be too expensive. A new Canon printer and cartridges was less than replacing the color and b/w tanks in the lexmark. Also, the heads only are replaced when needed, reducing cost and waste. that makes the heads around $35 (when needed) and the ink tanks around $5. Buy one now!
15 Solid printer. Unbelievable value.
I've been playing with this printer the last couple of days, and I must say that I am very satisfied with it.
INK: Like others said, the printer is cheap and the ink is very cheap. Black cartridges are only about 1/4 the cost of Epson and 1/5 the cost of HP and Lexmark. Cost of ink to paper output, I think Canon ties the Epson for best. This is backed up by reviews from PC Magazine. However, I give the edge to Canon, because it's "draft" mode is better than the Epson 880 I had. With the Epson, I could barely read anything in economy mode. I've printed 6 legal size color photos and about 30 black pages, and the ink levels have not dropped a bit. Plus, when you do get a low level warning, you can still print to the last drop!
PRINTOUTS: I'm satisfied with the output for photos and text, and I'm sure it will satisfy most of you. I like how bright and dynamic the colors are. Reds come out red with the Canon, not Burgundy like the Epson 880.
SPEED: This is where the i350 suffers. When not in draft mode, it is significantly slower than the Epson. About 1/3 the speed with graphics and photos. Text printing speed is OK.
LOOKS: Very nice looking and lightweight. I keep it on top of my computer. Yes, it fits on top of the minitower with no problem. Only downside is it's a top paper feeder.
NOISE: Frankly, I think the printer is quiet when it is printing! It is much quieter than the Epson 880. Actually, I think only laser printers are quieter. However, it is loud on powerup and for the 2 seconds it takes to warm up, but during printing: not bad at all.
OTHER: Driver is easy to use...almost too simple. I would like to choose my own dpi settings, but it only lets me choose from a scale for the quality. Also, you have to manually align the output, but it's not too hard. It prints out a paper with different colors and a bunch of numbers, and you choose the number with the best printout. Reminds me of the optometrist when they ask you which lens is clearer.
WORTH IT?: Yes! I needed to replace my 880, which was getting old and had collected too much dust in its rollers. The 880's quality was top of the line when it came out, but now we have these "photo printers" that beat it. I just wanted something cheap, cool looking, with high quality printouts. The Canon i350 gives that. I did not give it 5 stars, because it is not fast and paper has to go through the top.
16 I would buy this again
This printer took less than 10 minutes to set-up, and that included removing it from the box, plugging in all the cords, and installing the software. It's a bit noisy and spits out the paper too aggressively, but overall, the quality is excellent and the replacement ink tanks are cheap and available everywhere.
17 Great Value Printer
This is my second canon, my first was an i320. I only changed because I gave the i320 to my parents and I bought the i350 because it prints faster.
The set up was a breeze. I print a lot of articles from online webpages and the quality is great. I do not use it for pictures though so I cannot talk about that aspect.
What is great is that the ink lasts a while and you can get cheap refills when you need it, I usually get a generic at a local office supplies store or online whichever has the best deal going.
And finally buying it at an auction makes it an even sweeter deal since you only pay a fraction of the retail price and most come new. You do need to buy a seperate USB printer cable. You can also get it at an online auction for cheap.
Yes it is a bit noisy, it has a "pre and post printing noise", but that does not bother me since it does a good Job and saves me money.
18 Don't Buy Canon
Canon will not stand behind their products. If one breaks you'll get sent from place to place to place and they may even offer you a replacment but rest assured it won't be in your favor. We dealt with them trying to get another printer replaced after it broke several times. Their response was to exchange it for a unit costing half as much and when we objected they were beyond rude. Go with HP, they actually care about their customers.
19 a step backwards
I've had canon bubble jets for years, starting all the way back with the BJC 200. The brand name, the reviews, and especially the vertical sheet feed is what does it for me over the HPs, works great when printing partial sheets of checks. However, the Canon's don't tend to last that long - I think this is my 4th one in the last 10 years. When my last one stopped working (a 2110), I got the i350.
The good news is, the setup is a complete breeze, and it seems faster than the 2110. However, this is outweighed by the bad news.
First, it no longer uses a printer cable, it's only USB. This is nice for forwards compatibility and all, but those things are $$$.
Second, and more importantly, the thing is LOUD. It has a "Quiet mode" which makes it marginally quieter when printing, but it does a pre-print "warmup" and post-print "cooldown" which are both annoyingly loud, they make me jump.
So, in sum, if the noise doesn't bother you, go for it, otherwise I'd recommend you look elsewhere.
20 Good buy!
I've had several printers (epson, HP, lexmark) for personal use. This is a little noisy than the others. Speed is Ok and quality is very good for the price.
21 canon can!!
My first printer was an epsom, which when i bought it in 1998 i was very impressed. when it went to the great printshop in the sky i was looking for something cheap and cheerful to replace it as my expereince showed that all printers were expensive... not the case.
after reading a few favourable reviews i opted for the canon 350 which cost me £69 (+ £8 for a usb lead) it took me a matter of minutes to install and the results were not just great but wow. to buy a colour and black ink will cost me about £18 as opposed to the £40 or so for the epsom. only down side is that it's a little noisey compared to the epsom.
to summarise
* very cheap printer
*Excellent qaulity for any price but for £69 its as steal!
* looks good
* cheap ink
*cheap printer
* well known name
* a little noisey ( prepared to put up with it!)
*did i mention that it is cheap!
