1 Didn't Finish
I'm only on page 76 and I'm bored. I thought this book was going to be full of stories from college students but I'm seeing essay from parent after parent after parent (even though the one about hugging was very cute!) I'm disappointed and I'm glad I didn't pay much for it, because I'm selling it right now.
2 great book
I really enjoyed reading this. It makes you laugh, it makes you cry, it makes you see that you are not the only college student like that. If only colleges gave this out when you receive your acceptance letter!
3 THIS BOOK SHOULD BE A REQUIREMENT IN A 1ST YEAR G.E. CLASS!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I read it the summer before I started my junior year. It prepared me for transferring to a university from a community college. I think all college students should have to read it in one of their required G.E. classes to get them adjusted to college life. It is so wonderful!!! I would highly, highly recommend it to current college students of ANY age, high schoolers, and teenagers. I think they would all like it. I would recommend it as a high school graduation gift for the high school senior going in to college, whether it be the community college level or university. It will be so helpful to them! It really helps to know that you are not the only one who is going through many things in life, especially in college. This book helps you know that you are not alone in the feelings of confusion and frustration during life in college. It shows you that others have experienced the same thing, and it even gives you ideas on how to handle certain things that come up. I really enjoyed it!!!
4 Must read for College Students
This book was so good. I enjoyed reading stories from other college students that had gone through some of the very same things I went through. I was so inspiring that I gave it to my friend to read and she loved it. Now if I can only get that book back from her. I have recently purchase 5 other books of the Teenage Series. High recomend College and HIgh Schoolers read these books. They are real stories and you wouldn't believe how much you can relate to them.
5 Hilarious!
I thought this was hilarious- the stories and the cartoons! Even though I read it in my freshman year in high school, it gave me lessons that I used throughout my high school year. I'll definitely read it over again before I go off to college! Please make a Soul book for High Schoolers!
6 good sampler
I bought this as a gift for a college student who has enjoyed it as a something relaxing to read after studying. Highly recommended. Also picked up the novel "Hillcrest Journal" as a gift . . . top notch reading for students and parents.
7 The bible of college
I have not gone to college yet, but I am really nervous about what to expect. I bought this book because I thought it may be able to give me a little insight into what to expect when I get there, and it did just that. I am still nervous, but at least now I am have a bit of background on what to expect. If you are nervous, read this book, it helps!
8 Two thumbs up!!
This book is great for anyone going off to college or anyone in college. As author of The ABC's of College Life, a hip, street-smart guide dishing out the inside scoop on college life, I highly recommend this Chicken Soup book!
9 I love all Chicken Soup for the Soul Books!
I am a college student, and as every college student knows, having a book to help you get through it is always helpful. This book has so many wonderful stories that can be enjoyed when your sad, happy, or angry. You'll definitely want to pick this one up.
10 I couldn't stop laughing :)
I never knew that there was a book called chicken soup for any soul until my mentor suggested I read Chicken soup for the Women's soul. I liked that one. All of them have short stories about real people and things that happened to them as they walk threw their lives. On my first day of College which was July of 2001 I went to the bookstore and I saw Chicken soup for the College soul and I thought I have to get this book, I read a little bit while I was in the store, and I could relate with some of the stories about classes and room mates. I brought it and when I was bored some days in my dorm I would read the book ,and I would laugh so much my room mate whould ask me are you ok? I highly recommend this book for any college student. There are stories that could make you emotional, laugh, or perhaps know what not to do. There are definitely stories that many people can relate to. In my case:
I love philosophy and there was this one story about a student who didn't really like the class too much I think. (It's been a while since I read this one) but the teacher said how many people know there grandparents most people raise their hands, than he said how many people know there great grandparents a couple people raise there hands, and how many people know anything about your great great grandparents one or two people raise their hands. He said something about leaving your mark so people can remember you down the line, so you won't be forgotten or perhaps no will remember you exist later on in the years. It made everyone in the room stay 5 minutes after class wondering about that. It made me wonder too. There are other stories that are like that. It's a great book.
11 Open Your Heart to a Book
Just like the little red cans filled with Campbell‰??s soup the stories in Chicken Soup for the College Soul are m‰??m m‰??m good! This collaboration of stories from numerous individuals helps the reader relate to real life college experiences. Each one of the stories is personalized and easy to comprehend. Four different authors, Jack Canfield, Mark Hanson, Kimberly Kirberger, and Dan Clark put the book together. The authors offer their own experiences as well as the experiences of others. The reader is able to reenact the experiences through day-to-day life. The book touches on different topics each one having significance in college life.
Coming into college is a big change. The reality seems to hit you when you find yourself eighteen, three hundred miles away from home, and legally an adult. Chicken Soup for the College Soul was given to me as a graduation present my senior year in high school. I had read some of the other chicken soup books and was hoping this one would live up to my expectations. I was right, it met my expectations and gave me more encouragement than I expected.
One of my favorite categories in the book is Love 101. Being a freshman three hours away from home it is easy to find yourself heartbroken and lonely. The story, Finding My Way, by Zan Gaudioso filled my heart with warmth the first time I read it. This particular story is about a young girl starting college without a friend in the world. Desperately needing an attachment to someone she clamps on to one of her professors. The relationship that started with a schoolgirl crush moves on to a friendship with the professor, his family, and his special little girl, Lily. Lily had cystic fibrosis and needed individual care. As the college student baby-sat Lily for her professor a unique friendship developed. Lily gave the girl direction. Because of the involvement with Lily the student realized what career moves she wanted to pursue. The student received a bachelor‰??s degree in special education. Just as Lily showed the young girl direction this story along with many more set my heart in the right direction.
After reading some of these stories an overwhelming feeling of kindness came over me. I felt as though I wanted to help people and the readings made me believe that even though I am just a student I can make a difference. One of the sections in Chicken Soup for the College Soul, Acts of Kindness, made me realize that the world isn‰??t so cold and empty. People really do care. The story, Our Community, by Christa F. Sandelier revealed to me the compassion that lives within all of us. The story pertains to nine-college students home, which gets destroyed in a fire. Left with nothing it seemed a hopeless situation, but the other college students of the community had hope for the victims. They worked tirelessly passing out flyers, taking donations, and putting together fundraisers. All the earnings were given to the fire victims. In college it‰??s sometimes easy to feel as though no one cares. This story proved me wrong.
The book is beautifully put together, starting with getting in college and ending the college transition with graduation. In the beginning of every new section there is quotes pertaining to the subject and experiences. As a college student and a writer these quotes give me strength and motivation. I live by these quotes now and find myself reading them again and again during troubled times. Saint Francis DeSalas said, ‰??Do not wish to be anything but what you are, and try to be that perfectly.‰?? This quote is one of my personal favorites that I found while reading this book. Different people ranging from Hollywood‰??s, Jodie Foster, regular college students, college professors, and administrators wrote these quotes and stories. Intending to touch all the readers, students, and graduates the stories will clothe you heart with experiences of gentleness, death, humanity, and even classroom life.
Not only is this book valuable to the college students, parents can find this book to be very helpful in understanding the issues their son or daughter will be faced with in their college years. The stories prepare students for life on and off campus. These heart filled stories can be extended from college years to the workforce. Learning in college is not always focused on books and classes alone. Some of the most important lessons learned in these developmental years are learned through experiences outside of the classroom. Chicken Soup for the College Soul helped me get a head start on learning and becoming who I am. I can‰??t say that about many other books.
The writers of the stories have their own styles. Even though the writing style changes from story to story the realization and vivid illustrations given to the reader made me feel as though I had experienced the same thing as the writer. The stories are easy to relate to and I found myself comparing my own college experiences to the stories. In more than one case I felt just as the writer. As I read Finding My Way, by Zan Gaudioso I thought back to the very first day I arrived at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I had stood in the registration line feeling small and lost just as the young girl had felt in Gaudioso‰??s story. College seems like such a large and scary word when you‰??re just entering. Chicken Soup for the College Soul seems to break the word, college, down into smaller subjects and help explain the importance of each part of campus life.
I found the collection of stories to be more useful to me during my first semester of college than any counseling services or other readings. The stories seem to be as genuine as having a conversation with an old time friend about past experiences. I recommend this book to any individual whether they‰??re just graduating from high school or graduate school. It is always good to read and remember real experiences. Grayson Kirk once said, ‰??The most important function of education at any level is to develop the personality of the individual and the significance of his life to himself and to others.‰?? This unique quote was published in Chicken Soup for the College Soul and sums up the meaning of the book for college students trying to discover their place in the world.
12 Chicken Soup?
Chicken Soup is not for the soul. It's for people who are sick and can not digest anything of greater substance. It is thin, watery, and its few free-floating chunks of meat have been long-since sapped of all their juices and most of their nutritional value.

In this sense, I think this, and the rest of this series of books -- are very aptly titled ("Watery Medicinal Broth for the Soul" might have been even better, though.) Stories for the consummate, naive, irrationally sentimental, all-American moron. It only takes a glance at the cover to realize that you're going to have your intelligence and aesthetic sensibilities insulted; but actually reading through a few of these dime-a-dozen parables really drives that insult home.

Ditch the Chicken Soup and get yourself a nice, juicy Steak instead.

13 Real Stories on Real College Experience
If you want to read about real college experience I advise you to read Chicken Soup For The College Soul. It is filled with stories that can relate to your own college experience. It will make you laugh and it will make you cry.
14 College students all around the world
After my first semester at Vienna's university I paid my aunt in the US a visit. I can't remember why, but she told me about the "chicken soup" books (in Austria I never heard about them before), and when I left she gave me this book. To all you college students out there, if you ever sit at home after a REALLY LONG day, feeling just down and tired: Read one or two of those short stories.. It will make you feel better... believe me.
15 Very Inspirational!
This book can inspire anyone that is unsure about their academic future. Great stories throughout the whole book.
16 A great collection of comforting and funny stories.
I received Chicken Soup for the College Soul, for Christmas during my senior year of highschool. During this time, like many seniors, I was completely stressed out over choosing and appling to colleges. The stories in this book helped me to realize that college can be a lot of fun and is not something to stress out about. The section titled Transition was the most helpful to me. Saying good-bye to the only family and friends that you have known during your life is hard. This section shows how other seniors handled saying good bye to life long friends and saying hello to students on their new campuses. High school seniors have a hard time showing emotions and admitting to others that they are afraid of what lays ahead. This book explains different aspects of college life and how to handle them. The best way to learn about college life is from people who have experienced it. Chicken Soup for the College Soul is made up entirely of stories people have written about their college experiences. If you know a high school student I highly recommend purchasing this book for them. Going to college is going to be scary, but having a book full of people who have been in my situation and survived will give me the courage to conquer college life.
17 This was a very funny and entertaining book!
I found Chicken Soup for the College Soul is a very humorus and entertaining book. In many ways this book hit home, and not only because I am a college student myself, but because I am a young adult and going through many changes in life, as are the writers in this book. This is a very easy to read book because it is seperated into many different very touching, humorous, and informational stories. This book gives young adults and collage students a good chance to hear stories about other people and and there reactions to certain incedents. It may even give the reader a chance to learn from there mistakes, or even just be able to relate to someone else. In the fast moving world today it is very easy to forget that there are other people dealing with the same everyday stresses and challenges, and this book gives the reader a chance to sit down and find the humor and the sadness to alot of these experiences. I highly recommend anyone to read this book.
18 Powerful
Like all of the other series, this one was fabulous. College students, especially need some Chicken Soup. If you like this book, you'll love Major in Success, by Patrick Combs. I teach at a University and this book changes lives.
19 Totally inspiring
This book is such a success! It illustrates college times in a very heart-felt way, I should say, it doesn't only talk about the tough times, but also the happy and funny part of being a college student. This books also offers hope when you are lack of it, so do buy it!
20 Totally Awesome, Great High school Graduation Gift
I just finished reading Chicken Soup for the College Soul and found the book, like all the Chicken Soup books, to be totally awesome. This book would make a great gift for graduating high school seniors and/or any college student. The stories are inspiring and help students realize there is hope of surviving through college.
