Anthony V. Chiarella
1 Not up to par
I don't like taking "Test your Knowledge" tests, only to find the "correct" answers were never mentioned in the chapter. Or, the question/answer is not expressed in terms consistant with the chapter. That's extremely frustrating. It makes me wonder: Is the chapter just lame, or is the test lame? Either way, it makes me feel insecure. At the cost of $125 for the exam, I wish I had picked a better author. Chirella, wish me luck, because the book did not make me feel prepared for my test today.
2 The Ice on the cake.
Quite difficult to get hold of in the UK but one of the most succinct of all the training volumes. Combined with something like CCNAB from Cisco Press and the Sybex CCNA Study Guide you have an unbeatable combination. As the #640-607 will cease registrations on the 30th September 2003 you have just time left to read all three, try a few labs, and take the exam. You can still take the 607 Exam within 45 days of the date above. I think it will still be a good bet for the new exam #640-801 as everything it covers will be in that exam too. Recommended!
3 CCNA made easy.
This is easily the best self-study technical book I've read in a long while. Chiarella explains CCNA topics in a way that makes you think he's personally talking to YOU. Although it is not an all inclusive "newbie" book, it's not supposed to be. If you already have a basic foundation in networking topics and technologies, this book can take you the extra step to fully understanding CCNA requirements. I found the subnet explanations to be especially impressive. While understanding subnets is not the most difficult thing, Chiarella makes it second nature. If you feel you're ready for the CCNA, I would definitely give this book a read. Oh, and the price is an outstanding bargain, while not a bookend like most of the texts out there today, this book is invaluable and has earned a permanent spot on my bookshelf.
4 Passed CCNA Exam with a score of 913/1000.
This is a great book! I used this along with several others to successfully pass the CCNA 640-607 Exam. The exam was extremely difficult, but I studied my behind off and was committed to passing the first time. If you read Todd Lammle's book, this book and use the Transcender Exam simulation, you should be OK.
5 EXCELLENT
You can pass the CCNA with this book alone. Well writen easy to follow.
6 Great supplement
This book helped me pass the CCNA test after I took the ICND. I do not usually write reviews unless the book is bad, but this is an exception. after taking the CCNA class I failed the exam because there was so much to remember. I picked this book up and crammed it within 4 days, took all of the tests and then passed the exam on the second time around.
7 Concise and to the point
I find this book to be well written and to the point at hand. It is is not a long book but is compact and short, yet the information found in this book is very valuable for anyone is interested in taking the CCNA exam.

9 Suffers from errors.
I have found too many errors and contradictions in this book to recommend. I would normally overlook such errors, if they were documented appropriatedly by the publisher. Not only does the publisher not have errata pages, but my multiple emails to the publisher have been ignored.
The book is small, and easy to read. Unfortunately, since it is small, many topics are not covered, or covered very briefly. If you make a mistake in your only review question on a topic, it becomes glaring.
Needless to say, I will be selling my copy soon.
10 Does the job of preparing for the CCNA test.
Not much else to add to the previous reviews. If you study for the CCNA certification, this guide would probably be all you need to pass the test. I would also get the Lammle's book as well to cover any blank spots... If you are ready to take it beyond the CCNA level, I would also look into getting the following books:
1. "Cisco IOS for IP Routing" by Andrew Colton. A lot of information on IP routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, etc.).
2. "Routing TCP/IP, volume I" by Jeff Doyle. Covers just as much as the Colton's book.
3. "Interconnections: Routers, Bridges..." by Radia Perlman. Good academic info on routing and bridging. Overkill for the CCNA to CCNP level though.
11 Excellent Self Study Guide
Easy to follow. Well put together. Highly recommend it.
12 Easy to follow..... Highlights the important information
I used this book to prepare for the CCNA Certification Exam and was very pleased with my results. Chiarella did a great job explaining the IOS fundamentals and setting up scenarios for final preparation. The practice sections ROCKS! Seriously. After reading this book, you won't see a question on the CCNA Exam that doesn't look familiar.
13 Exceptional Guide
This is definitely the guide you want if you are looking to take the Routing & Switching Exam #640-607. Not only does Anthony Chiarella explain things clearly and in depth, but he does it with the aid of illustrations and skill-based questions, which adds up to a guide that will actually allow you to absorb the information you're studying. Nothing is vague.
Frankly,... this simple and inexpensive guide has all the information you could ask for.
14 SUPERB EXPLAINATIONS AND TEST TIPS
I found this study guide to be of great assistance while preparing for the new CCNA 640-607 test. I particularly like the test tips and ease of reading the material.
This study guide will get your attention and you will not be bored by it. Gets straight to the point without the useless fillers that I have seen in other books.
15 Outstanding Study Guide!!!!!
I found this book to be an excellent source of study for the Cisco Certified Network Associate Exam. If focuses on the main points that are covered on the 607 test. With examples of router configurations and detailed simulation practice questions this book makes a great refernce when combined with a basic knowledege of Cisco routers, switches, and network technologies.
16 I Just passed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I read this book and it helped me pass!!! The test Questions were jusk like the in the book. It covers everything that you need to pass!!!

20 Awesome Book!
I just finished with this new CCNA 640-607 study guide and feel like it is best exam prep book available for the CCNA exam. It is concise, gets right to the point in terms of objectives needed to master and is managable.
It is clearly a great value and is worth more than they are charging for it. The entire book is useful and you can tell that the author is a great teacher.
