Sure, cards based on NVIDIA's GeForce 256 processor are much more powerful, but you can still get terrific performance from older graphic-accelerator technologies, such as NVIDIA's TNT2, at much lower prices. One of the most popular designs based on this processor is Creative Labs' 3D Blaster RIVA TNT2, and for good reason. We saw nothing but solid performance while testing it.

This card lacks features such as TV input and output, but if you can do without those kinds of frills, you'll find a fast, stable product with mature driver software. We plugged the card into an empty AGP 2x port and installed and configured it in about 10 minutes. Windows performance was just what we expected, with brilliant 32-bit color output and extremely stable images. The 3D Blaster RIVA TNT2 is perfect for tasks such as photo editing and should be able to maximize the abilities of any monitor up to 21 inches in size.

The card doesn't come with a game bundle but does include some good color-calibration tools. The TNT2 also comes with a driver CD, but we recommend you immediately visit the Creative Labs Web site to download the latest TNT2 drivers, as they improved performance considerably in our tests.

We ran nearly every current 3-D game on the market through the 3D Blaster, and the results were impressive. The 32 MB of video RAM allowed for 32-bit color at solid refresh rates up to a resolution of 1,600 x 1,200 in 3-D. Image quality was good at the higher resolutions, but the card performed best at 1,024 x 768 or 1,280 x 1,024. Unreal Tournament was both smooth and beautiful to behold at these resolutions with the detail levels cranked up, despite the fact that Unreal is optimized for the Glide 3D API. When used with games designed to work well in Direct3D, such as Jane's USAF, this card is in its element.

If you're looking for a great card for Windows that also happens to boast terrific 3-D performance, don't discount the 3D Blaster RIVA TNT2. It's much cheaper than new cards on the market but works wonderfully with current games and should prove more than adequate for running upcoming titles.

Cons:

Once again, Creative is delivering breakthrough performance, advanced features, and the highest possible quality at an incredible price. The 3D Blaster RIVA TNT2 combines the best 3D chipset available - the NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 - and Creative's award-winning engineering and design to create a graphics accelerator that is truly spectacular. Its 3D rendering engine is also one of the most complete found on any PC-based accelerator. Critical features like full 32-bit color rendering, multi-texturing, bump-mapping, full-screen anti-aliasing, and stencil buffering deliver 3D images with stunning visual quality. Images so precise, they blur the line between reality and gameplay. And unlike some competitive products, there's no need to worry about dithering or color scaling - you'll get pixel perfect color, every time. For great gameplay and superior image quality, without breaking the bank, get a 3D Blaster RIVA TNT2.

There are two kinds of solar-heat systems: "passive" systems collect the

sunlight that hits your home, and "active" systems collect the sunlight that
hits your neighbors' homes, too.

I tell ya, gambling never agreed with me. Last week I went to the track
and they shot my horse with the opening gun.

Well, just last week I was at a Chinese restaurant and when I opened my
fortune cookie I found the guy's check sitting at the next table. I said,
"Hey, buddy, I got your check", he said, "Thanks."
