1 Better when read aloud
Douglas Adams is funny in print, but his books really come to life when you listen to him read them aloud. He has a good sense of comic timing and often addes just the right split-second pause, or twists a word *just-so* and brings off a joke that might otherwise be missed.

We've had the 4-volume audio set for ten years and my kids have worn it out. I highly recommend getting this as a book on tape. (Better yet- bring them out on CD!)

2 The Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy
I loved it! I was so funny! I wish I had a robot like Marvin.
3 none stop excitement
douglas adams shed real light on a subject few authors ever even dare to touch.he made me want to stop and take time to appreciate what i do have and feel lucky about what i have lost.he kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time
4 Nice acting
Although I have not had the pleasure of buying these tapes, I have, in fact, heard them elsewhere on a digital recording. These tapes are sure to bring a smile and some intelligent entertainment.
5 My absolute favourite!
Some people say that pure genius is very close to insanity. Either Douglas Adams is a true genius or he smoked some serious stuff when he wrote the Hitchhiker's Guide. "One must have chaos in oneself in order to give birth to a dancing star" - Nietzsche. For me, the Hitchhiker's guide is the best escape from reality anybody can ask for. Travelling with Arthur Dent through different worlds makes you see our own world in a different light. It is almost inconceivable that somebody could consider the Earth to be "Mostly Harmless"! It makes you wonder what sort of galaxies they travel to. A great read - don't miss out on this one.
6 Restaurant at the End of the Universe
I can only say one thing: "Share and Enjoy!"
7 The Most Amazing thing since digital watches
Well, having read the trilogy in five parts over 50 times, I still believe it is the greatest book ever written.

Adams has an uncanny ability to draw the reader into the story, and almost, but not quite, fail to leave you totally confused. (Read through it again, you will eventuallt get it).

His characters are whacky, insane, funny and stupendously irritating at times, much like you and I. That's Adam's great strength, he makes you think that someone is normal, and then throws something like "his one head looked at the other and conferred".

So, read this trilogy, even if it's just to get the telephone numbers of the Pope and the KGB if you want to leave the planet.

The main character, Arthur Dent's interaction with most of the others is brilliant, even bordering on amazing, and Ford Prefect will leave you wanting to take a big towel and strangle him.

But don't take my word, read it yourself and see what the meaning of life is....

8 The second best book ever!
The Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy is one of the best books I have ever read. The way Adams explains the scientific nature of the charachters abilities and equipment in a wackey but relitively possible way makes it amazing. However, the ending just lets you down. I mean you have an energetic and exciting bok with a boring ending. But, I have heard his explanation and can forgive him. Its the second best book ever!
9 Review on all books in the quadrilogy.
The interconnectedness of all things is to be appreciated in much the same way as this chaotic fiasco that begins with the destruction of an insignificant human's (Arthur Dent) home, and coincidentily the insignificant spec of a planet (Earth, because they stand in the way of societal forces which value the good of the many more than the freedom of the individual. Douglas Adams, through Arthur Dent, shows that this is not true. A very funny read! The video for the Hitchhiker's Guide is also exceptional.
10 a fan is writing
when i first read the hole "encyclopedia" of ironiy ( I mean all 5 hitchhiker books ) I was fascinated. Now I just finished my 7th turn and I still think this is the best and the more sarcastic science fiction i ve seen in my life. Maximum respect to Douglas Adams
11 Extremely funny
The Restaurant At The End Of The Universe by Douglas Adams was extremely funny and is one of my favorite books, second only to the rest of the trilogy. 42
12 review of The Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy
The Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, by Douglas Adam, is the insightful yet satirical epic of a journey through space, dealing with philosophical theories with a humourus twist. Fantastic.

14 Amazing, hilarious
I read the book, and now I simply admire Douglas Adams. He is a genius, who adds humor to his ridiculously funny topics. Funny names, and mystery behind it all. What else can you say about a book where the main idea is digital watches???!!!!! Ha! Ha! Ha!
15 Gorgeous senseless stuff
I've never read a book like this before. It just took me weeks to get through the 160 pages of the hitchikers guide because on every second page i have to stop because of laughing. brilliant. its rather strange to imgine but fine at all. in this way, i just want to greet marvin the depressive robot and frankie the mouse. we haven't just found the question. maybe it is "What is 60 - 18?"
16 Perfect
This book is a good read for the whole family
17 HELP!!! Too much SUSPENSE!!!!
The book says it all, the man(Douglas Adams) is a writing genious. He tells you everything you wanted to know about "Life, the Universe and Everything" Did you ever wonder how life started on the planet earth? Dull name earth, but anyways, read the book and you will know. What is 42 and why do the mice want my brain? I do not know this but you will if you read this spectacular book. This is the best book ever written by mankind. You can easily base a philosophy by this book. Life begins to make so much sense after you rad this book. There is no better!!!
18 Just great!
Brilliant ideas! It my anser many of your questions! At the end of the book I simply say: "I Want More!" (And I Get More!
19 Zaphod Beeblebrox spelled backwards is Dohpaz Xorbelebeeb
It's a long way to go to find out the question that we already know the answer to (42) but it is well worth the journey. Along the way you will meet Arthur Dent, Ford Prefect, God, dolphins, Zaphod Beeblebrox, many aliens, and the Babel Fish. You will also see the Earth destroyed (and rebuilt), characters die (and recover), and discover that the Earth is not just a big hunk of mud, but actually one big computer. Douglas Adams uses his British wit to weave a tale that never goes where you expect it too, but always makes sense. Once you read the first book you will be hooked to read the rest (which is good because you have to read all four in order to find the question to the answer of 42)
20 Excellent
The things one can dream up laying stoned in a field in Austria! Absolutely brillo. I love the way the Americans (US flavour) misnomered Ford Prefect to Ford Perfect. Says a lot! A damn fine book, and should be required reading for all of Teutonic stock!

Frank

21 Strange, silly, funny... WONDERFULL!!!
Douglas Adams, well he is just a genius, he can take solid fact and twist it in to a gelatin of silliness that despite itself makes a
certen kind of sense, his books (the hitch hiker's guide to the galaxy "a trilogy in 5 parts", Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective
Agency, and Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency part two the long dark tea time of the soul. I mean the names!!! He's a
hoot!!!) make you keep laughing (getting all kinds of funny looks on the buss :-) and thinking "I've GOT to remember this one
to tell my friends!!!" and U ALWAYS screw it up royally, because you just cant seem to understand the fact behind the silliness for as long as you would like!!! He's simply WONDERFUL!!!
