1 Disappointment -
I expected that Epson printer would be more economical than an HP (which I have owned 3 over the years). Everyone claims that the cartridges are far cheaper than HP. However, I have to change them 3 times more than when I had an HP! So, yes it is slightly cheaper, but not in the long run. And to make it worse, you have to always "clean" the heads everytime! This is ridiculous - and a waste of time that I do not have. HP - I'm coming back!
2 Easily the worst printer I've ever owned
The print quality was poor for text and nominally acceptable for graphics. I have to "clean the print heads" before every print-out to prevent vertical line streaking.
3 epson smepsun
This is the second epson I have owed. One thing I can tell you about this brand is they are LOUD, put on some headphones when you are printing things out, oh and the desk better be secure because they rock back and forth, I though mine was going to walk off the table! The print, its ok but also expect the paper to jam a lot on thicker card stock. Oh and make sure you order some head cleaner from www.maxpatch.com. The heads constantly get dirty and they sell a fluid that will clean them. with HP or Lexmark every time you buy a new cartridge you get a new head, not so with epson. When I am making greating cards, mine likes to leave nice black track marks. I have cleaned the rollers and it still does it, guess its a gift from epson. If you want a good printer buy HP or Lexmark, yes you pay more for ink, but the photo quality prints are just as good and they are super quite. My printer is in my bedroom and when I print in the morning the noise is enough to wake up my girlfriend. stay away from epson
4 Faulty print heads make this printer a money-pit!
This printer is a joke! Sure, it prints good pictures - but the print head gets clogged so often that most of the ink in your ink cartridges is drained before you can do much! If you let this printer sit for a week, you will need to run the head cleaning utility - which drains a visible amount of ink on the ink monitor . Subsequently, you run out oif ink in less than two months without doing much printing at all! It's ridiculous!

I bought ink cartridges three weeks ago, have printed nothing but a few resumes (no color) and now they are both halfway drained. Tell me, is this reasonable?

I think not.

5 825 Very Poor
Worked great for 30 days then it became impossible to get consistent color or print quality. It has gotten so bad that often I can not even get text quality. A complete waste of money. I am going to toss it and get something decent. I have spent more in ink trying to get it to work than the cost of the printer. A real lemon.
6 Ugh - problems galore
I never write reviews, although I do regularly check here for others' opinions. But, I felt compelled to inform people of my utter disappointment with this product. I consider myself fairly knowledgeable when it comes to computers, and I did my homework before my purchase. But, I REALLY hate to waste money, and I'm shopping for a new printer after about 9 months of headaches.

My terrible experience consists of: Needing to change the ink cartridges nearly every time I start a project - even if it still indicates that they are half full - and particularly if I havent printed in a couple of weeks. It's as if it magically just disappears. This has quickly become a VERY expensive nuisance. There are constant paper jams or it sucks in more pages then it should, even with consistent realignment of the paper. There have also been times where we've needed to uninstall/reinstall the original software, to fix a recurring issue where the printer was simply unrecognized for no reason whatsoever. That problem would only be fixed temporarily and then randomly reappear.

These are consistent, big problems that one shouldn't be seeing within the first few months of ownership. And, it has always been gently used. I will be staying away from Epson moving forward!!

7 High Maintenance
I'd had old Stylus printer which I loved. So when I replaced it with this printer I hoped it would work in a same way. Well, it doesn't. 1.Paper jamms all the time.(waste of papers) 2. Image comes out too dark or too light.(waste of papers again) And all kinds of things keep happening and while trying to figure out the problem and solve the problem, there will be more waste of papers and time and cost. It's very high maintenance needed printer and I want to resell this and get better printer I hope.
8 6 Months and toast
Hello,
I loved this printer when I got it...good price, excellent photo prints. But after 6 months, paper feeder no longer operates, twisting paper and casing jams and tears. Time to try something else.
9 Solid printer with great photo quality
With the amount of photo quality this printer puts out, you would expect it to use a lot of ink. Compared to HP, ink is a real bargain.

I first got this printer when my cheap HP broke down after having it for 8 months. I had heard of the photo quality of epson, so I decided to buy one. I was impressed to say the least. It not only printed pictures well, but on glossy paper, I couldn't tell the difference between regular developed pictures from wal-mart and my epson printer.

It's extreemly reliable too. I know this because, sometimes we abuse it by putting in too much paper or accidently printing with the front flap closed. This has caused 2 major paper jams, which, if it were my old HP I would have had to buy a new one. With this epson, however, after removing the paper, it will print as if nothing ever happened. All I have to do is restart the print job.

For $99 I would recommend this printer to anyone. Photo quality is on par with a printer that would cost 3 times as much. Ink is about $30 for a black and color cartridge together. Compared to other brands, it is solid as a rock; at least for now.

10 epson 825 the best!
I have had this printer for over one year now and it is absolutely perfect!! I have not had one problem with it at all! The photo pictures turn out great! Regular printing is the best! I had a Lexmark that did NOT print out pictures like it claimed it would an then blew up on me under one year, never again. I will always use Epson for photo printing. Make sure you use Epson photo paper with their printers. I have tried other brands and they are not good at all. Using the photo roll paper did take some getting use to. I use mainly borderless 4x6 premium glossy photo paper and that has been the best for pics! It also reads five different memory cards, so my family can bring over their digital cameras and print pics also! You want good quality pics stay with Epson.
11 Very pleased with My Photo Printer
I have had my photo printer for about 6 months now...Just recently I printed off some photos. I also had the same photos developed by Walmarts photo center. The photos that were printed out by my printer were better in color and quanlity then the ones that walmart developed. I recommend this product highly!! Thank you Epson.
12 Worst printer I've ever owned!
Stay away from this printer. I gave it one star only because there isn't any other option. Should have a big ZERO. I have never had a printer this bad. The inkjets are always getting clogged and the clean function needs to be run all the time, wasting ink. It eats even more ink when printing. The description on the printer says a cartridge will print 200 pages; its more like 20 pages. This printer is a waste of money. I only wish I could get my money back.
13 Waste of money
Dont waste your money or your time. It prints good when it works right(rarely). I didn't have this printer 2 months before I junked it. It was the noisiest and most unreliable printer that I have ever had. Top loading printers dont even compare to bottom loaders. I went out and bought an HP 1350v all in one printer for the same price and it is far superior to the Epson 825. My last HP, a HP-712C worked great until it wore out lots of heavy use.
14 beware
We bought the epson 825 and it was the worst money we spent. It only worked for 7 mnths and the paper feeder broke. After we called they shipped us what we thought was a new one, that actually turned out to be refurbished. They don't stand behind their products. They don't even have an 800 number to call then on. How much money are they trying to milk you out of. Do not buy!!!
15 Jam Jam Jam
Dont buy this printer. It constantly jams, and the color isnt that good. I have to replace both cartridges at the same time, which cost too much if I still have black in left. I replace them every couple of months and I rarely use the color. FInd yourself a bottom loading printer to save yourself the frsutration I have.
16 Not worth the frustration
The print quality is good, but the paper keeps jamming and now mine is broke. I have not even had it a year. I've never been so frustrated with a printer as this one. Don't know if I will bother having it fixed, or if I will simply buy a new printer. What a waste.
17 Excellent Printer
Very good buy for the money you spend. Can use all types of smart media cards. Very reliable and fast.
18 The 825 is an ink hog
I bought this as a replacement for an old stylus 700 which worked wonderfully. The 825 needs cleaning almost every time I use it which is ink consuming and time consuming. I might drag the old 700 out of the closet and put this one on the next garage sale. Not recommended.
19 Epson for Panorama Prints
If you want to print panorama photos, Epson is the only game in town. The only question is which Epson model, almost all print on roll paper. To date I've printed single panoramas 8x70", you can print as long as 129" with Windows XP. Colors are very accurate, embedded text is sharp. The 825 is slooow, took 90 min. to print 70" at highest quality, high speed (two-way). Roll paper (Epson is your only choice) cost 3X sheet paper. The 825 loves ink, can only get 10' on a T008 color cartridge. Since I bought the 825, July 1st, have spent 3X on paper and ink compared to cost of the printer. I've had one black ink clog, not sure why, and no color clogs. I'm on my 4th color and original black ink cartridge. For my color photos, I'd estimate ~10 color to 1 black cartridge.
20 Poor Photo Quality
I bought this printer strictly for photo printing. It is awful. The pictures look more like comics than photos. Colors run. I was VERY disappointed.

I have an HP 6122 at work. AMAZING difference in Quality.

I'm buying a 6122 for my home use.

21 Ink Guzzler
The picture quality is OK but it guzzles ink. I also found that I have to clean the heads several times before each print session or I get little lines in the pictures. I am either going to buy a printer that is less expensive to operate or I will just take my memory card to a local photo dealer and use their machine and their ink. It would be cheaper and less aggravating
22 Another winner from Epson
I've had this printer for only one day. I own an Epson Stylus Photo 750. The first thing I did was check for paper jam using plain, inkjet and photo paper. I then printed out pictures on Epson Photo paper. Not the premium glossy, of which three sheets are included with the 825. I was not impressed at first. It wasn't as good as my four year old 750. The print quality was less but the colors were slightly more vibrant and the photo was slightly brighter, more like the way it appears on my LCD. The 750 always printed photos a little darker and I had to always compensate for that without over brightening the image.

When I shut off High Speed printing for the 825, that's when it became superior to the 750. Single direction printing and on Epson Premium glossy photo paper. It was just like a photograph. The 750 was close, but the 825 was it. This was what I expected out of the 825. If it didn't do this, it would have gone back to the store. I've tried the RPM setting and it didn't impress, though I've not had a chance to play with it. I don't care what resolution I am printing at when not using the Resolution Performance Management setting as long as I get that photographic print quality. I have mine set to print at Best Photo for photo quality inkjet or better paper.

Printing about two dozen 4x6 prints have only diminished the included color cartridge about 15%. Print speed is as slow or slower than my 750. I don't care about that. I care much more about quality. I've not used the card slot or the LCD on the printer and I don't plan to. I print from the computer using PhotoPrinter 2.0 that came with my 750. Film Factory that came with the 825 is more complicated to use and I've not had the patience to see if it's better than PhotoPrinter. I don't have use for the other software that came with the printer. I've not had any problems with the way Epson loads the paper. No paper jams whatsoever.

Yes, the output tray will close if bumped but that's only if the extensions aren't pulled out. There are two parts to the extensions and I only pull the larger section out. That's sufficient to keep the output tray down. Problem solved.

This printer is superior to HP printers. I don't like HP printers anyway. Plus, I have vertical space to spare but very little horizontal space. HP's require horizontal space with their bottom paper feed. Epson's require vertical space with their top load paper feed. I only load paper when I need to print. So, space is save when I am not printing, which is the majority of the time. With HP, the paper tray is always sticking out and in the way. My photo paper is protected in its packaging until ready to use.

23 Epson Photo Printer Became Even Better with the 825
The best printer on the market for photos but one thing to remember when you get this printer. The ink tanks that come with the printer are only 30% full, which won't last you much. Many reviews say it sallows ink and yeah I have to agree but so does every other printer on the market. I have owned a cannon, epson, hp and a lexmark. Lexmark being the worst! I spend $30 for black, $30 for color on each, and $14 on 4 seperate ink tanks on the cannon. This Epson, the color tank is [item price] and the blank is [item price] on Amazon.com and less than $20 each at [the store]. The savings has just begun......If you want quality, get this printer. Even for plain text on plain paper it is best, just make sure you change the printer settings for regular paper and plain text. No going wrong with this printer.
24 Epson Stylus Photo 825 printer
It prints beautifully BUT it really uses up the ink. I doubt that it will print 100 sheets of normal printing. It will not use up ALL the ink in the cartridges once it's censors decide you're low on ink. I went thru all of the ink cartridges in one roll of 4x6 pictures, approximately 60 4x6 pictures. Very expensive to operate but it works great and prints your worst pictures to make them look great.
25 Great print quality but very frusterating..
This printer probably has the best quality of printing photos I have ever seen when you print direct from a memory card. Printing from the computer is ok. It doesn't go through ink as fast as I had expected and the ink is cheaper than I was paying for my Compaq printer. But the huge problem with this printer is trying to feed the roll of 4x6 photo paper into it, it jams up constantly and just keeps printing on nothing, certainly not the paper and the red jam buttom seems like it is constantly on. Also, I normaly have a Compact Flash memory card and it works fine but I put a digital camera memory stick in the reader and the printer refused to work. When I put the memory stick back in the camera it said FORMAT ERROR and all the pictures were gone. Big mistake for Epson!! I liked the printer until that episode. Right now the memory card reader isn't working at all and Epson is reimbursing me.
26 Great photo printer with a few design flaws
First of all, let me echo the opinions of some of the other reviewers: this thing makes some of the best photos I've ever seen IF you are priniting direct from a digital camera CF or other memory card. Photos from of your hard drive don't look nearly as impressive, but they are ok in their own right. Documents print fast and clear, and I haven't had any problems with black and white media.

One of my biggest complaints is the way the paper loads from the top. For some reason Epson continues to keep this crappy design flaw, creating space issues, jamming issues, and loading issues. I used to have a HP printer and although anything in color looked like crap, the paper loaded from the bottom and never once did it jam. While my old printer was maybe twice the size of my new Epson, the way the paper sticks up in the back makes the printer tice as tall. If I want to load it with new or different types of paper, I have to drag the whole thing out. It's amazing how a company could put so much quality and so many features into a single printer and fail to acknowledge simple design issues for convenience.

Another design flaw is the use of large color ink refills, instead of individual colors. Obviously Epson is recouping some of their costs for producing such a fantastic affordable printer. This means that individual photos will cost more than some other printers, but it shouldn't be a problem for most home users with moderate needs. Professionals with specific high power needs should look elsewhere. This is a printer for the average consumer and while the pics are professional quality, pros might require more speed, efficiency and reliability.

Regardless, this is still a fantastic printer. Speed and quality more than make up for a few inconveniences, especially for the price. I did a good bit of shopping for a printer and this one seems to do everything well, and those with a digital camera considering the purchase of one of those tiny little photo printers that HP and Canon make should reconsider. This printer makes photos that are easily as good, plus allows you to do all the things a PC printer should do. I also like that you can make a variety of sets and sizes for your photos including immaculate 8 x 10's. My family can't believe they came off of a printer, especially when I tell them how much I paid for it.

27 review of Stylus photo 825
First, I would like to say that this printer produces photos of tremendous quality! I was truly amazed at the clarity of the photos I printed. They were very close to laboratory quality. However on a downside, I only printed five 4x6 photos when the ink started going out. That is totally unacceptable to me. There is no way that I can afford to replace the ink cartridges after five pictures. It would be cheaper to go have the pictures developed in a lab. That is unfortunate, because I really liked it. I am definitely returning mine.
28 Highly Recommend
I am a first time photo printer user and very pleased with the quality for photos and document printing.
29 Worst Printer I Ever Owned
I've owned Digital, Canon, and Two HPs. Finally bought this to try an Epson. Picture prints are nice as described in earlier reviews, however the over quality and usability of this printer is horrible! Mine jammed almost immediately and when I went to unjam it, some parts came loose inside and I had to ship it back for a replacement (which they did at no charge). This printer is constantly jamming and requires very high quality paper (not general purpose like most HPs) or it will pull in 5-10 sheets at a time. The cartridges have a "smart chip" which means you have to by Epson factory cartridges which are VERY EXPENSIVE. The output tray is designed so that just brushing against the printer folds it up thereby causing the printer to jam. I DO NOT recommend this printer, particular for general purpose use.
30 New to photo printing, but easy to learn with this printer
This was my first photo printer, and I love it!! I have a Nikon 5700 coolpix, however, which is hard core digital camera, so I don't know how this printer preforms with a lesser quality camera. Instructions were simple for the most part. The only thing I don't like is the control panel directily on the printer, a little confusing, but I still need some practice.
31 A general Purpose Printer it is not!
This printer cannot print envelopes without jamming! Is there more to say?
32 Beautiful prints, affordable price
Bought this printer a month ago for $... online after comparing with the Canon line and I say-if you're looking for beautiful images and flexible formats, buy it! Yes, it uses ink quickly-what printer wouldn't when printing 8x10 color top quality photos?? I printed about 30 4x6 color photos and 10-15 8x10 color photos and several black & white 8x10's before I began to run out of color ink (cartridge registered 30% left, blue ink was running out noticeably in printouts). But once I figured out what settings work best when combining my scanner/computer/printer, every photo was beautiful; you couldn't tell it came out of a computer.

I use this printer primarily for prints and negatives scanned in on my Epson Perfection 1325 scanner (another fabulous piece of hardware). It was necessary to scan in images at a minimum of 800 (recommend 1200 and higher) dpi to print quality images. I printed both snapshots and fine-art quality black and white photos and loved the results.

As far as papers go, I started out with hp 4x6 paper and it was abysmal!!!! Don't ever buy it. Am now printing my 4x6's on Kodak premium heavyweight glossy paper with exceptional results. Also love the Epson heavy matte paper, results in beautiful colors and rich, textured images. Even gives decent prints on normal letter paper, if you just want to print off some photos for fun.

Overall: pros-beautiful images, relatively quick printing speed, in limited trials with directly printing digital images from a flash card with on-printer keypad loved ease of use and quick results, used with Adobe Photoshop Elements software easily, no problems with text quality (comparable to my old Canon BJC-250 inkjet), relatively inexpensive ink (color cartridge under $... at Office Depot)

Cons-hmmmm.....didn't much like the software included with the printer (i.e. FilmFactory and PhotoImpression which is inanely stupid) for lack of flexibility when working with images. Remember that the USB cable is NOT included. Have to always print at highest quality for good results on photos (why do they bother to include a lower photo setting??)

33 Great Printer; Has Some Quirks; Not a Speedster
The EPSON 825 is a terrific photo printer. I purchased one recently after spending $7 at a Kiosk printing out an 8X10 from a digital photo I had taken.

Initial setup of the printer was simple enough. Some of the diagrams could have been a little clearer but this did not cause a significant amount of hair pulling. The software setup was uneventful although there are many separate software setups.

The reason I picked the 825 was the borderless 8X10 feature. I enjoy giving gifts to those close to me commemorating events we've shared. I must say that after a bit of experimenting I was able to generate prints that are indistinguishable from those generated from in store kiosks. On top of this I didn't have to do any cutting which is something I can't say for the kiosks I've used. If you've had to trim these and don't have a special paper curter this is a big bonus.

Tips for borderless printing:
* Use EPSON Premium Glossy Photo Paper (Borderless 8X10)
* A decent photo program. My camera does not generate images at the same aspect ratio. I think you'd want to look at Adobe Elements. I found the included software a bit difficult to use to crop and size precisely.
* In the printer settings make sure you select:
- Best Photo
- Borderless
- Paper Type
- Paper Size
* In your photo program make sure you've set your image to fit the page.

I tried Kodak Premium Picture Paper (High Gloss). There were no significant differences although I couldn't find in 8x10 size.

Unfortunately the EPSON Photo Quality Ink Jet Paper (MATTE) is completely unsuitable for printing photos.

The printer is not fast. With my photo and the options I set it takes around ten minutes to do a print. I find this acceptable but you'll have to decide if this is okay for you.

I think the quality more than makes up for the speed.

This printer does a great job and considering the price it is a great deal.

Good Luck!

34 Great photos!
We purchased this along with the Olympus Camedia D-550 3MP Digital Camera for our trip to Paris. We are thrilled with both. The camera took great photos (especially in night mode) and this printer makes them look 10 times better than they do on the computer screen. For anyone else who fell for the rebate offer, we use the camera in the higher quality 3X2 mode with a 128MB card and have been very satisfied with the quality of the photos.

So far, I've tried four photo papers. The Epson premium glossy that came with the printer made did quite well. It's a thrill to be able to print large, glossy 8X10 photos on demand! We also picked up a pack of the normal glossy Epson 4X6 with perforated edges. The perforations were handy (much better than trimming with scissors), but as noted by another reviewer, the trace of what looks like perforations is visible on the photo if you look *really* hard. Certainly not anything that I would notice if I weren't looking for it and I won't let this stop me from finishing up the pack of paper. However, I may steer toward the premium glossy paper in the future to avoid this.

As for the heavyweight matte paper that came with the printer, ugh! It sucked the life out of my photo. Perhaps it could be appropriate for some printing activities, but not photos. Don't waste your ink.

The final paper that we tried was the Kodak Ultima heaviest weight 4X6, using the "premium glossy" and "borderless" settings. Although I have to do some trimming, the color on the Kodak paper wins out over even the Epson premium glossy for richer, more satisfying colors in a side-by-side comparison of the same photo printed on the two papers.

Overall, it's a great printer!

35 too much ink
The photos came out great, but I already used up all the color cartridge. 10-8x10's At the price of the cartridge and only getting it for Christmas and using it for a day and running out of ink I think it is too expensive to run.
36 Great Epson PHOTO Printer
This is a photo printer, so I have nothing to say about it's ability to print text (that's not why I purchased it). I printed a couple of scanned pictures and hel them to the originals and was amazed. I purchased this one to replace an Epson 785EPX, which has served me well this past year. With 5760 dpi-whoa!

The only issue is the printer doesn't print well on HP glossy photo paper. It will however work with Kodak & IBM photo papers (glossy). I use my HP5550 (no slouch when it comes to photo printing) when I want to use my HP photo paper.

Whats also great is that it accepts all media cards-compact flash, sd, smartmedia and sony memory stick.

For the price, you can't go wrong.

37 The Best Photos I Have Ever Seen. . . But. . .
Okay, here is how it is: This is the best photo printer this side of your local photo lab, but it doesn't come without some disadvantages. This printer does not use the Epson DuraBrite ink, which the Epson C82 does. It does use a five ink system, but it is housed in a single cartridge. That is pretty lousy because the ink tank is rather small. You must understand though, if you have a decent digital camera, you will not know the difference between this and a professional development.

The digital film readers that are included in the unit are pretty cool as they are pretty expensive when they are not in the Epson box. The little read out screen for picture selecting is a bit difficult to get used to, as it is definitely no LCD screen. But, for the price, who would expect a monitor. If running without a computer is a must, then the selection screen is sufficient. If at all possible, use your computer and import that way, it is much easier. There is also a reel on the back for 4x6 paper rolls.

Overall, the printer is rather affordable for the output. The pictures are top shelf and text is almost laser quality. It is well worth the money and puts out better pictures than any machine I have ever encountered. This replaces the Epson C82 as my favorite photo printer on the market.

38 May want to check out the HP7530
I bought this with an Olympus 3 mexapixel camera hoping to never have to wait to have film processed again. Using the printer was a snap. The controls are easy to figure out and it is very user friendly. The problem was the images. The color wasn't quite right and I kept getting small bands that looked like perforations when I viewed the picture at a certain angle. Customer support wasn't able to solve the problem so I returned the printer and ...got a HP7530 which I'm very happy with.
39 Great printer if photo printing is your main task
Good value for high quality (near photo lab quality in my opinion) photo printing (assuming the use of good photo paper). A tad slow and not so sharp on the text printing, but this is still acceptable. If you want to do lots of photos and occaisional text - this is a great buy. If only occaisional photos, get a printer geared more for text and use your photo lab for the occasional prints.

The software included is good and simple to use.

Also - some folks are complaining about ink usage. Keep in mind that many printers (this one included) are shipped with "starter" ink cartridges which may be half the capacity of the ones you'll buy later. So don't let the short life of the first cartridge get you down, it gets better with the next. The manufacturers do this to keep the price of new printers at a competitive level, I'm told.

In a nutshell- great quality photo prints, acceptable text at a good price.

40 Great Picture Quality, but poor text output and ink-guzzler
The most amazing graphics and photos quality I have ever seen from an inkjet, especially when glossy photo paper is used.

Unfortunately, not so great with text output: a bit blurry. Did I mentioned this thing is an ink-guzzler!? After 3 weeks of printing only one set of photo and about 30 pages of text, I have about 2/3 of color ink and about 3/4 of black ink left. Apparently, the printer will continue to drain the color ink, whether or not it is used. I guessed the "black ink only" print option doesn't seem to work too well, coincidence!? hmm ...

41 Epson Stylus Photo 825 Printer Review
This printer is a perfect companion to your digital camera. It is a great photo printer for the whole family.

The EPSON Stylus Photo 825 is great for digital camera owners who want amazing photo printing results, along with standard text printing. With the printer's built-in card slot, you don't have to use your computer to print that special photo. Just insert your media card from your digital camera directly into the printer and create borderless prints and enlargements. Right from the printer, your images are ready to frame, place in your album, or give to family and friends.

This printer is like having your own digital mini lab at home.

I highly recommend this printer to anyone looking for an easy-to-use and great quality photo printer.

42 Great printer, a bit ink-thirsty!
The 825 works great both with Mac OS X and with Linux (I don't know about windows or Mac OS 9).
The best feature is the ability to print directly from SD, Compact Flash and other cards (adapters included); the pictures (4x6) look better than those produced by the Epson-supplied software, or the Gimp. The Mac OS X version of the software supplied by Epson could be improved -- many features seem disabled in OS 10!
I don't know how it compares with other photo printers, but my first color cartridge was used up very quickly.
