128MB * stores digital photos and movie clips when used with compatible devices
Early Adopters Pick: August 2002. The smallest and most lightweight flash card available with fast read/write speeds paired with high-capacity storage; compatible with new lines of Fuji and Olympus digital cameras.
Designed to minimize power consumption, Fuji's xD-Picture Card offers fast read and write capabilities for smoother digital camera operation. Extremely compact, it is about the size of a penny and weighs less than one-tenth of an ounce. The 128 MB capacity card can record data at 3 MBps and offers a read speed of 5 MBps.
1 It works, these two words say it all
I have had this XD Picture Card for eight months and it's great. I just put mine in the camera eight months ago and have never taken it out since. When I have about 50 or 60 photos on the camera I just plug into my computer and download them and clear the card. It's as simple as that. The card is fast and speed and reliability do not seem to be affected by temperature or battery power. Just buy it, stick it in the camera and forget about it. You won't regret it.
2 Fujifilm 128 MB Picture Card
Whats the problem. You gotta have this card for the Fuji camera. It works great. Produces great pictures and at Amazon's price it can't be beat.
3 Excellent Deal for XD on Amazon
I priced Xd Cards in Ireland and was shocked (but not surprised) to find high prices for it. I went to Amazon and got it for $33 less (about ?27) than the best deal in Ireland. I got my package exactly 1 week after I ordered it and the package arrived excellently packaged in official Fuji container. The XD Card increased my Fuji S7000 from a max of 10 6Mb pictures to about 88 max resolution pictures. Very happy !
4 tell the truth--
the Fuji and Olympus xD cards DO NOT cost 2-21/2x the other types available and in use today--I understand change is difficult for some folks but telling untruths about a new product is unacceptable---the xD card is faster and uses less battery juice which helps the photographer by making battery charge or change less frequent(saves money and time)--therefore, any small difference in initial purchase costs will be repaid many times over duting the life of the card-

6 Great Product, Speed and Memory
I Highly recommend the XD digital cameras and XD memory cards. I purchased a Fujifilm S5000 digital camera which came with a standard Fujifilm 16mb card. I upgraded to this Fujifilm 128mb XD card and have had no regrets or problems. A good deal for a price of around $50 to $65 dollars. You can double the memory, 256mb, for around $110 dollars. I found the Olympus 128mb XD card is cheaper in price than the Fuji, but when I researched them both, the Olympus card when you touch the connectors the memory, in some incidents, have been erased. This was a risk I was not going to chance for $2 to $6 dollars less in price. In the 6M quality mode ( 2816 x 2120 pixels ) I can get approx 90 photos and 165 photos in the 3M quality mode ( 2048 x 1536 pixels ).
The XD high speed can greatly enhance the user's experience with the product. A photographer can take & store new pictures or view existing images on the LCD screen more quickly with the XD Picture Card than with other, slower media formats. This means less battery drainage!
The Con's,
Small: could easily be misplaced or lost.
Price: the XD card is a little bit more expensive than other memory cards, but you get what you pay for!

8 Do We Really Need Yet Another Flash Memory Format?
Sure, the read/write speed is fast. Sure, it's supposed to be energy efficient. But -- puhLEEEEEZ! Compact flash was fine at first, but doesn't make the grade in today's minuscule digital cameras. The SD (Secure Digital) format, however, does. Here's the kicker -- you can get an SD card with up to 1 gig of storage. The xD format hasn't even started shipping a 256 megabyte card yet. Yes, the Fuji and Olympus cameras (the only two that take the xD format) are terrific gadgets. But there are SD-compatible cameras that are just as good and, frankly, somewhat cheaper. Why not buy one of them instead?
9 Don't listen to the naysayers, just get it!
Me -- I sold all of my Coolpixes.. great cameras that they were, and all of my accessories, including several 256MB CF cards... for an all Fuji product line. No regrets! xD has it all over CF.. much smaller, far less power-hungry, faster write times.. and as far as you CF card whiners, grow up! Yah, it's Fuji. Fuji is huge. Sony has their own card -- Sony sells hundreds of millions worth of electronics every year too, and if Sony or Fuji put their name on a technology, you can be damn sure that it'll work perfectly with their product line. Or did you CF guys for get that? Not all CF cards work equally well.. or at all.. with all cameras that take CF. Or let me put it another way: Apple Computer is famous (and successful) for making proprietary hadware and software - it all works beautifully together, get it?
Not big enough memory size? I just added a couple of 512MB xD cards, Fuji has a 1GB card coming out any day now, and Fuji projects capacity increases up to 8 GIGABYTES. What more do you need?
If you like the Fuji Cameras.. and you will -- I own an S5000 and an S7000 and they're fantatstic(!), then don't be lazy: Sell you old, oversized, battery-draining and s l o w CF cards on ebay (or here on amazon). Get your Fuji, and just get the xD cards. You can always sell them if you change brands. It's as simple as that. Great product, great technology.
10 NON Standard
Although the card itself is not bad technology, it is NOT the standard (which is compact flash, CF). If you ever upgrade to a better camera or another device that uses memory cards (MP3 players, or SLR camera, etc) then you'll lose your investment in these XD cards. Also, since they are proprietary and non standard they cost more per megabyte. I would never purchase a camera that uses non standard proprietary cards (like Sony, which uses their own "memory sticks" or Fuji and the XD cards). But if you already bought a camera which requires them, then you really have no choice. Standards are important with new technology (remember betamax vs. VHS) so that early adopters don't have equipment that becomes obsolete, or unduly pricey due to lack of competition.
If you have a choice, try to buy devices that use CF (compact flash) and protect your investment. Just my two cents.
11 What a Great Card!!
I understand that some people do not like the XD card - too bad! I have a Minolta Dimage 5 that takes the Compact Flash card and it eats batteries like M&M's. I get roughly 40 shots per set of batteries. I also have a Fuji 3800 and a Fuji S5000. Both take the XD card and I love it. I'm getting roughly 130-140 shots per set of batteries (both cameras). And the card stores more than the other cards. So what's not to like? I know that some people are also unhappy because the XD doesn't work in other devices. So? I bought the disk for the camera only. If I need another disk for another device - so be it! I'm not going to wear out my camera's disk by popping it in and out and reinserting it in something else. The bottom line is that I'm very happy with this format.
12 Lots of shots for memory this size
I can get about 168 shots on my xD card at 3.3 MegaPixels. That's more than I will ever need on a single outing. I don't use the movie setting on my camera, but I would probably want even more memory (512MB perhaps) if I did. The only concern is the small size makes it a little more difficult to handle when removing and replacing memory cars. But I also imagine that the small size helps reduce the weight of the camera and increase the battery life.
13 The price is out of this world!
I received $19.99 off of this card as a promotion with my new digital camera, making this card the deal of the century. My co-worker, who has the same card and camera, was amazed at how inexpensive it was before the discount(he paid around 70 bucks!). The 128 mb size is great--I really don't want to screw around changing cards, but I think 256 mb might be excessive, unless I was going on vacation. The size worries me, because I think it might be very easy to loose, but the plastic case that comes with it is much, much bigger than the card--about the size of a chips ahoy chip cookie?--which may be a concern for those of you interested in this solely because of the tiny size.
14 FujiFilm FinePix Digital Camera 2650
I had been using my Fuji fine pix for camping fishing and everyday picture taking and I really enjoy using it. The pictures can be copied to my computer then I photo copy them for family and friends. I highly recommend this camera. You won't go wrong! The pictures can also be sent to family and friends through email if they have a computer. This is where I photo copy all my pictures for my parents.
15 Watch Compatibility
Watch your compatibility with this card. It's not so simple that if your camera takes an xD card, it works, if not, it doesn't work. Olympus also makes an xD card as they appear to be switching from the anemic SmartMedia to xD. The Olympus xD card clearly states that certain (Olympus) camera features are available ONLY with the Olympus xD card. I've verified this with Fuji. If you have an Olympus camera, you can use this Fuji card for single-picture-storage only. All other camera-internal goodies regarding picture storage will not work with it. Of course, the Olympus card is more expensive... I assume if you have a Fuji camera, this issue is a non-player.
16 Don't waste your money!
Stay away from Fuji and Olympus cameras which force you to buy their propreitary formats. They are just another overpriced flash format which no one needed. xD won't work in any other device.
Say no to xD and drugs.
17 great price
great price for this.. 128 MB xD picture card is great! Haven't run out yet!
18 Caution for Olympus Camera Using Fuji xD card!!
It seems using the Fuji Card on Olympus Camera the "Panaroma" feature does not work. I encountered many other options were disabled too.
19 great product
need I say more. Other than the fact that you have to have this in order to take picture with e the fuji 3800, it is a wonderful xD card and reasonable compared to some other types.
20 Right to the Bottom Line
It's a memory card. If this is the format your camera (or other device) uses, it works. If it's not the right format, no need to read any further.
Is this the right size for you? At the 3.2 megapixel "fine" setting, my camera will store about 100 pictures, depending on how complex your pictures are.
On a more practical level, if you're not planning on turning your photos into 8x10 prints, and you use a lower resolution, you can pack a heck of a lot of pictures on one card.
At the time of this writing, 256MB cards are still on the drawing board, and many devices that use XD memory may need firmware upgrades to use them if (when) they do make it to market. Smaller cards are not usually proportionally smaller priced, so IMHO, if you have a device that uses XD memory, this is the right card for you.
21 Works as promised, but what about the future?
I was very excited to purchase a digital camera which uses the new xD memory card. The camera came with a 16 MB card, but I quickly opted to upgrade to the 128 MB version. At the time of purchse, 128 MB was the biggest version available. For about double the price you can now invest in the new 256 MB version. I think 128 MB is sufficient for taking pictures during a week-long trip. For my camera (and this depends on the resolution you use), 128 MB translates into about 200 pictures!
The card itself is extremely small - as the manufacturer claims, about the size of a penny. So far it behaves precisely as promised in the camera and when I'm downloading pictures to the computer.
I have to warn you about some of the negatives of this new xD card in general, not just the 128 MB version. As you might know, CompactFlash, SecureDigital, and SmartMedia are much better established memory cards. They are physically larger in size, that's true, but the number of appliances accepting CF, SD and SM is huge - digital cameras, cell phones, PDA's, you can even use it for memory in your computer! Furthermore, CF, SD and SM cards are significanly cheaper. Will xD ever catch on? Will it ever drop in price to the levels of the other three? Will it ever be used as widely as CF, SD and SM? Will xD ever make high capacity cards, like the 1 GB SanDisk you can currently purchase? It is true that xD cards have the potential to store up to 8 GB (more than the others), but when will these cards be made, and will they be cheap enough to be useful?
The bottom line, it seems, is the following. On the plus side, xD is small and is used in some very enticing digital cameras. On the minus side, the three firmly established memory cards (CompactFlash, SecureDigital, and SmartMedia) are cheaper and more widely used. Until the xD card gains in popularity and is used in more applications, I would be careful about buying a camera which uses xD and about buying further xD accessories, such as this 128 MB xD card.
22 Excellent
Compatible to my New Olympus D560 Digital camera. I do not even need to format it. It can store 163 pictures with my camera.
23 Fujifilm 128 MB xD Picture Card
The xD card is great. I get 29 pictures on the 32 mb card and they are clear and it is so quick to transfer to my PC or erase from the card. Love it!
24 Format is not an issue
I recently bought a Fuji camera that uses xD-Picture memory cards. Here are important things that I consider:
- Fast: Writing fast and erasing fast saves battery and you time.
- Small: If you decide to buy more than one memory card, then you will have less trouble keeping all of them in you camera's pouch. Also, they are less likely to break appart.
- Looking ahead: this format is going to be here when 4Gb cards start to become available. Other current formats do not support this size (Look how Sony broke compatibiity with it's new hideous MemoryStick-2)
- Life time of the format: Let's be realistic, chances are that you are going to buy another digital camera anyway in the next 2 years - to get grater megapixel capabilities or because your new computer does not have USB ports anymore. I am pretty confident that this format will be around for quite a while.
But, I would recomend this format to people that do not have any photo printer that reads from the other memory cards formats. If you have a printer that takes CompactFlash cards, buy a camera that uses it.
If you don't have such a printer or do not plan on buying one, then you do not have any reason to avoid this format. Besides, you can print from xD-picture cards at[local store] - cheaper than at home.
Price differences are not significant anymore, expect prices to drop even more when 256MB and 512MB xD cards become available.
25 Amazing New Storage Device
I recently bought a Fuji Finepix 2650 digital camera that utilizes the new xD Picture Card. The xD card it is an outstanding product. My first two digital cameras (HPs) used CompactFlash - the xD card blows CompactFlash away.
In the world of performance electronics - size is king. The xD card is about the size of a penny! When I showed my friends the xD card and they were amazed. They couldn't believe the xD card was so tiny - way smaller than CompactFlash or SmartMedia. The card has super fast access times - and it's better on power consumption than either CompactFlash or SmartMedia. For those concerned about compatibility issues, don't worry. With the CompactFlash adapter, the xD card can be used in CompactFlash devices (a huge plus since I've read reports that the xD card will be available in 1+ GB sizes later this year).
26 Excellent.
Another reason why there is such passion from those who bought their cameras earlier and are upset that new cameras have better memory cards (such as this new XD card): They're afraid that their old cards will eventually be phased out. I am not sure if that is a valid concern, but why take the risk? If you're choosing a new camera, choose one that is cutting edge now, and have the security of knowing that it will serve you well for several years longer than the rest.
The cards not only record faster, they erase faster too - an important consideration for a large capacity card such as this 128 MB one.
Don't be stuck in the past.
27 Stop whining....
This format works just fine. I can't understand the issue people are having with this card. Yes it is new and it is more expensive. Remember what the other format cards cost when they were new?? The price is already dropping on xD cards now.
My Fuji Camera takes amazing pics and I dont care if it has a different format card in it. I dont plan to use it in another camera. This card uses less power and writes faster than older formats. To me this is a very important feature. It works and it works well.
Technology is improving. What, should we just stop and all be happy with one format that is developed? Did these people complain to Sony when the CD was developed? What about to Mercedes because they developed the air-bag and antilock brakes in cars?? Things change....get over it.

29 Smaller, faster, lower power
As the title says, the xD card is smaller, faster, and uses less
power than any equivalent-sized card. Yeah, it's a new format,
but so what? There are going to be adaptors to let it fit into
other format cameras (supposedly). Plus, it's supposed to go to
at least 4 Gb within a year or two. This is the format of the
future!
It costs a little more, but I think that for the features, this
format is well worth it.
30 fast and furious
okay so everyone's upset about new technology???? This picture card is efficient and fast and holds lots more pictures than the known standard. I see nothing wrong with Fuji making their cards smaller, more efficient and better all around. Maybe this type card should become the market standard.
31 Don't be an xD hater!
What previous "issue-driven" reviewers have tried -lamley- to complain about is that somehow this is some sort of evil plot to get more money out of you. None have written about the fact that xD cards are faster and use *way* less energy than other media. My awesome Fuji FinePix 3800 works for weeks on one battery charge - even with using all of the other energy hungry features like flash and the lcd monitor. I think it's thanks to the xD card's frugal energy use. No fewer than 4 of my friends have now purchased the Fuji 3800 on my recommendation. They're all amazed at the picture quality and at how long the batteries last. Xd will someday be able to hold up to 6 GIGABYTES of memory - try that with any other card. IT'S EVOLUTION, BABY!
32 WONDERFUL
THIS CARD IS GREAT...ITS EASY TO USE AND HAS LOTS OF SPACE TO TAKE TONS OF PICTURES!!!! BUY IT
33 small device with relatively large capacity
this thing is tiny - it is amazing how small it is. holds enough memory for a decent amount of pictures (about 78 pictures at 3 megapixels).
34 dissapear from here
I could not agree more on the issue brought up here. As if there were not already enough memory formats, yet another one. It seems to be about either desperate, or greedy companies trying to capture customers into their markets forever. Why can't we just have one or two formats of memory?? This is as bad as it would be to have 5+ formats of CD-RoM drives. And SONY is even more guilty than fuji/olympus.
Smartmedia was developed by Toshiba/Fuji/Olympus, and now Fuji/Olympus couldn't get along with Toshiba/Panasonic for the sD card. Memeory cards will become more and more versatile into the future and soon be used in countless devices. We need to standardize the market. We can't afford to buy special memory for each and every device. If you buy Fuji/0lympus, I sincerely suggest you buy a camera that is not limited to xD. Together the people can control the market for our own good..
35 how tricky
I appreciate the first reviewer's comment. It is awful for camera makers to use such tricks to control their market share. such defensive strategy will put them in a hole even further. wake up. cp card is an good example for you to learn. thanks. first reviewer. I just change my mind on a fuji camera.
36 expensive propreitary card
Fuji and Olympus have found a new way to make money and rip off innocent consumers. A new card format called xD card. A cool way to ensure royalties and extra cash.
If you have already bought a xD card based camera, you are left with no choice, right ? So go ahead and buy this card, it works fine with Fuji cameras.
BTW, if you haven't bought your camera till now think twice before getting a Fuji. The xD card costs 2.5 times the cost of simlar sized CF card as of this writing. And xD cards are useless outside of Fuji/Olympus cameras. Compare that to the versatality of CF cards at much lower price.
Oh... and Fuji can't seem to manufacture enough quantity if these as of now, out of stock at most places ! Very bad Fuji, switch to CF/SD or watch you camera sales plummet. Today's consumer isn't a fool, he can read reviews on Amazon before buying stuff.
37 Great!
Lets me take oh so many more photos than my 16MB card does. Writes faster, all the goodness that that entails.
