1 A Great Google Book
The tips throughout this book are great. It's the little ones that helped me out the most like links to do free trademark searches online and links to get free Google marketing data in foreign countries. I'm not an advanced AdWords person, but I have to think beginners and experts will find lots for the money here.
2 65 PAGES OF NOTHING
There's virtually no information here that can't be found on the adwords website. Making matters worse, this book is poorly written and poorly edited. Here's an ironic quote presented verbatim "Nothing reflects poor quality in an advertisement than spelling or grammar mistakes."
It took about 30 minutes to read through this e-book. That's also how long it took to realize that I'd wasted my money. This is the first time I can recall buying a book that made me feel cheated.
3 THE HELP I WAS LOOKING FOR.
AdWords was developed by the highly educated people at Google and as a result there is a science to it. I bought Google Advertising A-Z to help me and was surprised at how it brought all the many nuances together to get higher click-throughs. I never realized that the time of day the Google clock is set by affects when you will get the most clicks, especially for a U.S. advertiser who is getting clicks in Europe while sleeping. The book also has Adsense, Froogle, Zeitgeist (that I've never heard of), and Google Print sections. It was money well spent!
4 An Excellent Google Advertising Book
My Google advertising campaign was getting a click through rate of around 1%, which is borderline for Google slowing or deleting your ad. I used the "optimizers" in Google Advertising A-Z to double my click throughs in a matter of days. Some even got as high as 7% click throughs. Who knew that the order of the ad lines, punctuation and capitalization were important. I used the industry example section of Google Advertising A-Z that shows what ads work and those that don't in many industries. The $9.98 for this book will pay for itself many times over. For me it did in a few days of advertising.
