Jackie Chan's Who Am I?

Shot in English and budgeted higher than any of his previous Asian features, Jackie Chan's last film under his Hong Kong contract is an action-packed globe-trotting adventure shot with the American audience in mind. The spies and secret agent-laden plot is packed with car chases, explosions, gunfire aplenty, and of course Jackie's own brand of gymnastic martial arts. But the flood of his older films between his hits Rumble in the Bronx and Rush Hour had sated American viewers and Who Am I? wound up being sold directly to cable. It's our loss, for this mix of goofy slapstick and jaw-dropping action is his most impressive film since Drunken Master II. Playing a special forces agent (named, naturally, Jackie) struck with amnesia and adopted by an African bush tribe following a failed assassination attempt, he embarks on a quest to discover his true identity while armies of killers pour after him. After an explosive opening, the story gets momentarily bogged down in the kind of mugging humor that leaves most American audiences scratching their heads, but once Jackie kicks into gear the film is a high-speed action flurry that culminates in a furious battle atop a Rotterdam skyscraper. Jackie is at his most charmingly naive (he berates the villains, pleading "Why do you want to destroy when you can make things better?") and athletically impressive: the marvelous stunts--including a flight down the side of the skyscraper--and fight choreography make Rush Hour look like a Sunday drive. --Sean Axmaker
1 Martial-Arts Masterpiece... Acting, well, it's Chan, so...
As I'm sure we have all come to expect, Jackie Chan has once again performed some of the most impressive martial arts captured on cinimatic video to date in "Who Am I?" And though I only gave this film a 3-star rating it wasn't because of the action which, come on, that's all we really want to see, right?

I'll start with the negatives and get straight to the point; the acting is right on par with what you're used to. I could see that the producers attempted to 'do-it-themselves' rather than bring in knowledgable writers who can articulate engaging western dialogue. When compared to epic movies such as Lord of the Rings which contain only the highest quality standards in all aspects of cinematography, I can't in all conscience give it any higher than a three. Fortunately, I didn't find myself balking at the writing and acting as much as I was astonished by the picture's true purpose: to kick some ass!

Once it begins, however, the action is intense. First, the city car chase I found plesantly surprising. Though I wouldn't say it was the best, it was definitely very well done. Had they more of a budget, they might even have made it as purposeful and artistic as similar scenes in The Italian Job, Ronin or The Bourne Identity.

But that's just icing on the cake. As I'm sure you've read from the reviews up till now, the skyscraper scene is without comparison. Though Jackie performs many of his trademark wily moves, I found this scene in particular was true to more traditional martial arts technique.

Jackie's co-stars in this scene deserve just as much or even more credit than Jackie, as you can tell their real-life skill is precise and probably quite deadly. Though I'm at a loss for names, the legs on Jackie's second opponent in this scene are literally made of steel. In short, I believe the only reason Jackie survived this onslaught was because it was in the script. These guys are definitely monsters in their field.

This isn't the only scene worth mentioning, but for the sake of time I'll just say I found no fault in any of the copious action sequences throughout the movie.

Moving away from that however, I must give credit to the cinematography; not something I'm apt to mention in this genre. My opinion here is not so much based on how nice it looked, but rather how simple and complete the shots were. In many martian-arts movies, editors are apt to cut and splice individual punches, kicks or moves into a series of cut sequences, usually to hide or remove some bad shot or angle that didn't work out in post.

Here, you had practically none of that. Every action sequence used in the final cut was top quality. Each significant cut lasted far longer than I traditionally see, allowing you to experience all the perfectly executed moves as they occured in filming. It's my opinion that this film's success in the realm of action was only possible through the amazing filmwork done to capture it. In other words, there was no Jean-Claude-Van-Damme'esque slow-motion or quick film splicing to create the illusion of actual, skillful martial arts technique. What you see is what you get, and it's nothing short of amazing. I'm particularly impressed with how Matrix-like the action seemed, without all the need for special effects and animation. Nope, this is as good as unretouched live action will ever get.

In short, this movie's appeal is in the pure and untainted action. The plot only serves it's purpose in leading us to the real content of this film. But that notwithstanding, it is still a must-own in every martial arts/Jackie Chan fan's library.
2 Who Am I-Your a legend
This movie is very nice.It may be his best movie it takes place in Africa at First and he falls off a Helicoptor and gets amnesia and he then meets some girl who had to get help by him. Then later they are in Amstradam and he slides down a building believe me you will like this movie a must
Acting 10 Story 9 Direction 9 Ation 10 Entertainment 10
Overall=48/50 This movie gets a 96 wich is 5 star territory
3 The original has been cut so much!
I really like the original movie. But this release has been so much cut. I don't know what was the reason for it. But some really funny scenes (like a lion chasing Jackie) don't show up. Try to find uncut version.
4 STAY WITH ORIGINAL
Why American production make HK movies look so cheap? First of all, they cut off so much scene, second of all ruin it by making look acting so dumb by English Dubb. ALWAYS stick with ORIGINAL LICENSED HK RELEASE. Be careful with cheap imports, boots though.
5 ONE OF JACKIE'S LAST GOOD FILMS
AN ARMY SOLDIER [JACKIE CHAN] LOSES HIS MEMORY. DESPERATELY TRYING TO RESTORE HIS MEMORY, PURSUE HIM. THIS IS YET ANOTHER MUST-SEE JACKIE CHAN MOVIE. HAS GREAT STUNTS, FIGHTS, AND IT EVEN HAS A PRETTY GOOD PLOT. IF YOU WANNA SEE A GOOD MARTIAL ARTS FLICK, WATCH THIS. LOOK FOR WWE WRESTLER NATHAN JONES IN ONE OF THE FINAL FIGHTS. UNFORTUNATELY, AFTER THIS AND ''TWIN DRAGONS'', MANY OF JACKIE'S MOVIES BECAME STUPID AND BORING. ALTHOUGH THIS WAS RELEASED IN THEATRES IN OTHER COUNTRIES, THIS NEVER MADE IT TO THEATRES IN THE U.S. INSTEAD, IT JUST WENT DIRECT-TO-VIDEO.
6 "I might have amnesia, but I'm not stupid!!!"
Jackie Chan's most expensive Hong Kong film was even a direct-to-video movie in the states. It got released on cable tv on SEPTEMBER 11th, 1998. How 'bout that. It should've been a theatrical feature.

The movie opens with Jackie as part of a commando team capturing terrorists who are experimenting with a new kind of chemical-based explosive. But after they've succeded, the commandos superiors betray them, and crash the chopper. Only Jackie survives (he falls out into some trees before the crash), but awakens with a bad case of near total amnesia. All it seems he can remember is his martial arts training, so he's got to uncover the truth and stop the bad guys before the new bomb gets into the wrong hands.

This movie has more plot than most of Jackie's flicks (GORGEOUS, as good as it was, has no more story than a children's lullaby.) This also has MORE kung fu fighting than alot of jackie's other films, and they're all loaded with it. The acting, for the most part, is atrocious, but it doesn't distract for the movies selling-point. The blend of action and comedy, Jackie Chan style, to make a fun action;comedy;martial arts hybrid that works.

Fans will enjoy one of Jackie's many trademarks, which is the use of both his martial arts skills as well as any props are in arms reach. During one scene, Jackie has his hands tied behind his back, and he uses a chair to help him ward off his opponents. In another scene, he's had his shoes removed by one guy who wants to just step on his feet and capture him, so he gets ahold of some wooden shoes to use as weapons.

Even the final showdown on the top of a skyscraper is uncommonly impressive for a Jackie Chan movie, where he faces not one, but two opponents with the strength and speed to match his. It's a quintessential Jackie Chan action-comedy, sure to please way more than just it's target audience. In closing, I'd just like o point out the scene where Jackie gaives his gun to someone claiming to be an ally, who then puts the gun to Jackie's head and pulls the trigger. It doesn't fire, and for once, it's not because it's out of bullets.

7 Still Great
It's amazing I only knew this movie existed when it was broadcast on TV! It's a shame I couldn't see it in the big screen but now its in DVD! It's as close a you can get.
8 The Studio sure missed a great opportunity...
...to release this in theaters!!! Like the official review indicates, this was never released in U.S. theaters, even though its one of JackieChan's (say it like one word, please)BEST movies! We were combing the videos for ANY Chan stuff we'd missed, and couldn't believe it when we saw this one. It has none of the dopeyness of previous Hong Kong Chan movies, it was filmed all over the world, and has a real storyline & humor we Westerners can appreciate. The supporting actors are not bad either. We are awed (barely credible, actually) fans of Jackie's stunts, and this movie has some of the most over-the-top ones. Especially (but certainly not solely) the climactic fight scene-WOW. If you love Jackie, BUY THIS. We never get tired of watching it!
9 The Chan man
As usual Jackie Chan's brand of martial arts is showcased. Draw dropping stunts with a combination of humor. A must for Jackie Chan's fans
10 One of Jackie's best!
This is easily one of Jackie Chan's best movies. It has a great storyline, the action is enough to die for (the end fight scene is truly the cake here) and it's funny. Normally, I wouldn't say this but this is almost the perfect movie. You can hang out with your friends and watch this and maybe (maybe if you meet a nice girl or guy) this could be a pretty entertaining date movie. Again, great movie!
11 THE must own Chan film!
My friend Nhyung suggested this-and I've been a fan ever since.Yes,like Shatner-he plays himself in an X-Files type scenario-with every possible plot twist and turn one could ask for!Not too mention his comedic ability, with amnesia and every government agency after him.His use of props, fighting ability, and humor are truly showcased here.I can't recommend strongly enough-after this-buy "Legend of the Drunken Master"
An overlooked action/comedy masterpiece.
12 Three Choices
This is a must have if you are into the incredible action fight scenes. The Battle Jackie has against the Kung Fu thug... then Tae Kwon Do thug was marvelous.
13 Avoid US Version
"Who Am I?" is an excellent film! Unfortunately Newline/Disney et. all released the US version which had not only had been "edited" with all the finesse of chopping cabbage but they also changed scene sequences! In the US version, shorter of course, the audience knows what happens before Jackie recovers from amnesia. In the full Hong Kong/Asia release the viewer doesn't know any more than Jackie does and the film is 100% better! If you can't find the LBX Hong Kong version "Who Am I?" is still a great movie. There are many excellent fights scenes and stunts. Jackie fans will be thrilled and martial art lovers will be as well. The rest of the cast really don't matter much - this is Jackie's movie - uncut - and he doesn't mind showing his very talented moves! The fight on the roof top is astounding! There were no cardboard boxes or air bags. If Jackie fell he would have died. Even he can't survive a fall from 21 stories!
A must see and buy (you really should see the "real" version.)
Jackie doing what he does best!
14 One of his BEST!
when I first seen this in TX, I knew I had to own it. Mr. Chan outdones himself. he does tricks like you wouldn't believe. the beginning is kind of slow, but that's just there to get the story plot going. it has great action and of course, great fighting. and like always, the best fight scene is at the end.
15 NEITHER BAD NOR GREAT
While working as a member of an elite commando unit, Chan looses his memory and subsequently becomes a fugitive when his previous commanders decide to eliminate him and his fellow team-mates to keep secret their activities. Expensively if not nicely done, "Who am I?" is truly a Jackie Chan film in that it has some great action sequences held together by a paper-thin plot and decorated with some especially attractive, albiet rather vacant femmes. If you haven't already guessed, I'm not a big Jackie Chan fan, so obviously you should read this review with a bigger grain of salt than you would most movie reviews, but the pretty girls and nice action sequences aside, Chan's typcially egocentric movies, including this one, are more for adolecents than adults. They're not bad, but watching this film compared to something like Iron Monkey is the difference between a candy bar and a steak. While Chan is a visual genius and physical prodigy, his films, including "Who Am I", are not really something in which someone can find substantial entertainment.
16 Jackie's Top 10 !
This has got to be one of Jackie's top 10. Great action and Martial arts in this movie! A must have in your collection.
That's all.
17 Blew me away!
I have not been into Martial Arts movies that much before now, but after watching "Rush Hour," I rented "The Legend of Drunken Master" and "Who Am I?" and I have come to realize that Jackie Chan is a very intelligent man with ever-growing power.

Anyone - no matter their lifestyle or preference of entertainment - will find this movie extremely intelligent, well-writeen, and fun. The plot, though not overly complex, is very well thought out. The fight sequences are furiously fast and very very long.

This man maintains his energy and performs feats that would amaze even Bruce Lee. Jackie Chan is Magic! He is a master of Kung Fu and has created his own style while entertaining every country in the world. He has literally hundreds of movies under his belt and this is one of his best.

"Who Am I?" is fast and fun and very entertaining. I love it and I know anyone who likes intelligent action movies will truly love "Who Am I?"

18 Bad acting Excellent action
As the action in Jackie Chan movies goes this one is top notch! The acting could have been better done with a high school drama club with stage fright. Jackies acting is fine, his supporting cast needs some remedial acting lessons. Jackie plays a mercenary with amnesia. A literal globe trotting adventure this movie takes Jackie from Africa to the streets of Rotterdam.

The action is intense with Jackie taking on hoards of bumbling East German strong men. The escape with handcuffs is good, the wooden shoes better, and the finale is to die for. A 2 on 1 that needs to be seen to be believed. A long scene, remeniscient of Jackies old kung-fu flicks rather then a modern street fight.

If you are a fan of The Man, then this movie is for you. Good bang for the bucks!

19 Who IS he?? Jackie of course!
I have the American DVD, but have the Asian released DVD (with English audio option) as well, which has extra footage in the African village. I don't know why some people don't like this and consider it "boring", I found it great - it set the scene for the rest of the film - a sort of "quiet time" before the storm, so to speak. There is great action all the way thru, like the clog fight, plus the end "jump off the building" stunt in Rotterdam! Some of the acting by the other actors is not very good (ie. the guys at the meeting table in the beginning). Jackie does tend to concentrate more on action than dialogue. However, the song Jackie sings is terrific - Americans should use his songs over the end credits of their movies with Jackie. I have a lot of his music CDs. Though I like Accidental Spy better I still rate this as a 5 because of the story, action - and Jackie!
20 We remember you, Jackie!
Jackie Chan's Who Am I is an exceptionally well put together bit of cinema. It's fast paced, well staged, and original. Most of all, it signals a much needed return to form for Jackie Chan after the entertaining but less-than-sensational Hollywood actioner Rush Hour. Hollywood has always sought to water down Chan's frenetic brand of martial arts action and incredible stuntwork, leaving us with a product that could only be described as Chan-Lite, or Diet Jackie. However, in this Hong Kong produced thriller, Jackie returns to what he does best - making the audience fear for his life! The martial arts sequences are brilliantly choreographed, the stunts simply breathtaking both fostering memories of the Police Story series. Added to this winning combination is a neatly plotted story that helps keep the viewer hooked. If Jackie Chan continues on his Hollywood odyssey, making films like Rush Hour 2 and Shanghai Noon (by no means bad films, there's just less of the real Jackie in them), I hope he finds time to return to his roots every now and then, so he can deliver another few gems like Who Am I. This is a thrill-packed, edge of your seat, old fashioned Jackie Chan adventure with all that is best about his unique brand of filmmaking.
21 My favorite Jackie Chan Movie
In my opinion, it's the best movie by Jackie Chan, i love to listen to it, again and again, i'm never tired of it. The music is great, the final fight is too good!! The movie is very funny, like all other Jackie Chan Movie! All of the action sequence are really FAT!!! It's a movie to see if you love Jackie, if you want to discover Jackie, or if you want to see a really good movie with action/comedy/adventure/kung-fu!!! Jackie Forever!!
22 good twist on a formulaic genre
chan usuallu makes formulaic action movies that would be great if they weren't so...formulaic well here it is the one that isn't formulaic the amnesia idea is ingenous and makes this the best chan movie
23 Another great from Jackie.
This movie is great. The first bit can be boring at times, but the rest of the movie makes up for this. The final fight on the roof of the glass and steel tower in Rotterdam is fantastic and the stunt following that, in wich Jackie jumps off of that tower is just as amazing. Buy this movie as it loses nothing no matter how many times you watch it.
24 THE BEST MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN
This a great movie containing plenty of action. If you like any sort of fighting or martial arts than you should buy this movie.JC is at his very best. From the beginning of the film to the very end is non stop action. My favourite scene is at the end on top of a skyscraper. He takes on 2 martial arts experts. After he beats him up he is stranded on top of the skyscraper with 15 men after him. He does the impssible.............. I will not tell you but all I should say is BUY THE BEST MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN.
25 Back to his best
With "Who Am I?" Jackie Chan finally gets the combination of Hong action and Hollywood budget spot on. With him writing and directing you get a film that's up there with Police Story and Armour of God for visceral excitement and eyepopping action.

He plays a soldier recruited to a multinational covert CIA operation in South Africa, whose goal is to kidnap scientists working on a new energy source obtained from a meteorite. The operation suceeds, but a corrupt CIA offical wants no survivors. Jackie is the sole survivor of the resultant forced helicopter crash, but with broken bones and amnesia. He recuperates with an African tribe who think his name is Whoami and only leaves when he accidently wins a cross-Africa rally. His photo appears on the front pages of the newspapers, which unfortunately attracts the attention (and fists) of the bad guys...

The rest of the film involves much double crossing, deception and some of the best fight scenes Jackie has done. Who Am I? is probably the finest exhibition of Jackie's amazing physical prowess for years - the fight scenes are longer and more aggressive, the stunts are extreme and he makes clambering up and down buildings look easy.

26 Great flick.The Review...
The rise in Jackie Chan's American career was boosted way up by this great hit! It stars Jackie Chan, as Jackie Chan, a secret agent who after being traded on, falls from a helicopter and loses his memory. He along with a few people he meets along the way, must avoid corrupt CIA agents and save the day. As promised in all of Jackie Chan's films, Action is throughly delivered in this film, with an ending on a building that you will Never forget! The funny thing about this film is that the actors speak English, but after re-dubbing it for Mandarin, China, and the like, the voices are about a second off! Who Am I? gives a not stop, heart pounding two hours.

Not bad at all. I would suggest it. A must for Jackie Chan film fans!

Ryan

27 Great fighting scenes
This had some of the best fighting scenes in Jackie Chan's movies, especially when he had to fight the duo on the roof. Fantastic! The story was too complicated to follow, so that was its weakest point. Another weakness was the typical American over-stereotyped bad guy with the bad accent, hat that nobody wears, and cigar. There seems to be one of these cartoon characters in every Jackie Chan movie and I take it as a direct insult of all Americans. Get that out of there and the movie is much better. I gave it 3 of 5. Without the stupid American, it would receive 4 of 5.

29 Nonstop and edge of the seat action!
"Jackie Chan's Who Am I?" was written and directed by Jackie Chan himself, he also stars in the movie. He is a special forces agent who was accidentally dropped from a soaring helicopter and he plummeted to the earth so fast and hard that it gave him a shot of amnesia. Now, Jackie Chan is wanted just about everywhere because he is a missing person, but he has to deal with the enemies who have a mysterious disk because they want to kill him. On top of that, he really doesn't remember anything because of the amnesia, he doesn't even know who he is.

"Jackie Chan's Who Am I?" is a great Jackie Chan action movie. Parts of it such as when Jackie is trying to help a man cure a snake bite and he chews up a plant that makes his mouth numb, are funny. Other parts of the movie such as when Jackie makes his first escape from his enemies from the top of a tall building, the fighting scenes, and the car escape sequence are nonstop and edge of the seat action. "Jackie Chan's Who Am I?" has some of the best and most exciting action ever seen in any movie. The plot is understandable enough and the acting isn't bad either. But the action sequences are what you'll never forget about this movie. If you like great martial arts movies or action movies, I definitely recommend getting "Jackie Chan's Who Am I?"

30 One of Jackie's BEST!
This movie has a plot! *or better than most chan films anyway. Who Am I sports all sorts of crazy action and stunts, and there is losts of fight scenes. (moreso than some other chan movies) Jackie-Chan...is the uh..huh man!
31 One great Chan
Great Chan movie, and the final fight scene with the kickboxer was one that should seen by everyone. In fact, the final fight scene in this movie is probably my favorite of any Chan-esque movie. Jackie also struts his stuff at the end by singing (quite well I might add) the outro credits. I also suggest getting the movie "Gorgeus." It's a love story, but the final fight scene with the 5'0 guy is THE most amazing fight scene Chan has done since his old days. Buy this movie, buy Gorgeus, buy "My LUcky Stars." Just get some CHan!
32 Really Funny and Really Cool
Jackie's funniest movie besides Wheels on Meals by far.

Dutch stunt-man Ron Smoorenburg shows us all why Tae Kwon Do really is the king of martial arts when you know how to use it -- watch Jackie run like a wimp from the barrage of kicks in the last and very well done fight scene! If you are involved in TKD I highly recommend this movie just for fight scene, you are shown how to do everything perfectly.

33 Jackie you Da Bomb!
I love this movie! It has actully some plot to it and it is very funny! The chase in the car is packed with action and comedy. It takes a little while to get going but when it does you will love it!
34 Who was He?
I wasn't sure who he was. I thought it might be Jet Li, but then I realized that it wasn't Jet Li. I went into this film expecting a comedy, with a pop singer as the star (I was in the wrong theater) and was highly dissapointed. The action was cool, and the stunts were decent.
35 Jackie Chan -superhuman! (Or he must be)
Well, Who Am I is definitely a martial arts classic, I'll give it that. Jackie Chan comes through once again in a spellbounding film. The plot is some-what easy to follow, and the characters get you attached. More importantly, this film is actually thick enough in plot to dupe you into thinking one thing or another.

The dubbing isn't too great, but you can easily get over it. Some points in the dubbing make you cringe, but other than that, it's not too bad.

However, what clinches the 5 starts is the absolutely phenomenol final fight scean where they actually use psycology. You really have to see this fight to believe it. I believe that it is actually the BEST Jackie Chan fight that I have seen in his movies.

The plot? Jackie, surprisingly, does not play himself. He plays a man that is one day found in Africa amongst a tribe. He calls himself "Who am I" as he has no memory of his past. This is both good and bad for him. The good thing is that he doesn't remember the information that the bad guys are chasing him for. The bad news? They don't quite care. Jackie tries to find out who he is and why everyone is chasing him, while running around clobbering the "bunch of baboons" who are chasing him. A fantastic Jackie Chan hit that I recommend for any action entusist, and especially for those who love martial arts movies.

36 Who Am I? A damn good movie if you ask me.
When I heard this was on the Starz channel I was mad cause I had HBO and Cinemax. But lucky me, Starz was having a free preview weekend. Anyways, this movie is great. The plot is good for a JC movie, and there are exciting parts pretty much every 10-15 minutes. Now I said exciting parts, not fight scenes. There arent that many fight scenes in the movie which I took a star away for. I took another star away from it because it isnt all that funny. What I mean by exciting is like when someone is chasing Jackie and he runs and does some cool flips and climbs down walls, etc to get away. The fight scenes that are in the movie are great though, especially the final fight on the rooftop of the skyscaper which is...hmm...well...AWESOME! And right after that fight scene is a great stunt where he slides down the side of the skyscaper. Also the car chase is good as well. This is a great movie though, different from other JC movies because of the little humor in it and few fight scenes, but still worth buying. So...Who Am I? A damn good movie!
37 Basic Jackie Chan, but good enough for me
This movie had eveything you expect from Jackie Chan....terrible actors, breathtaking fight sequences, cheap plot, and a bit of humor in between. It follows a special agent named Jackie(what a suprise! ) in his quest to figure out who he is, after he gets smashed in the head my a tree branch and acquires amnesia. He has to meet up with his slightly attractive women that help him get through everything, while finding out about devious undertakings of fallen-CIA agents. There is one fight scene that makes it worth the watch--it is on a high-rise/skyscraper, and has the most amazing martial arts action i have ever witnessed. The stunts are one-of-a-kind, and not always on jackie's part either. If you are a Jackie Chan lover, or even if you like cheap(actually probably astronamically expensive--you will see what i mean if you watch it) cheesy movies, you must buy/rent/ whatever this movie. It is great.
38 Good but not great; terrific action
The action sequences in this film are outstanding, as you might expect; I have yet to see a Jackie Chan film that disappointed me in that respect. However, other aspects of this film *did* disappoint me. The flow was choppy, a lot of the dialogue was delivered woodenly, in many scenes people stood about in somewhat unnatural poses, and the two female characters were barely more than window dressing, with mediocre lines poorly delivered. I don't know if this is the first film Ser Chan has directed, but IMHO he needs to work on it some more. There's a lot of potential here. There was much less humour in this picture than in the other Jackie Chan films I've seen, and I definitely missed that humour. Even with its flaws, I give this four stars, and think it's worth at least renting if not owning (I own it, if that's any indication :-). It's a good film; enjoy it -- but be aware that (IMHO) there are even better Jackie Chan films out there.
39 who am i ?
This is one of jackie Chan's best movies. The fights are amazing. So are the car chaces. I reccomend it to anyone.
40 Aptly titled
Reading all the raves below, I'm wondering what movie these people saw. Jackie continues to try my patience as a Chanfan, as he has for a few years now. I'm almost ready to give up on him after this.

"Who am I?", indeed. Jackie's identity crisis (or persona crisis) gets in the way here more than ever, as he struggles to transform himself from an Asian martial arts/comedy star to an American action star. Here he falls between two stools (figuratively, not literally like he usually does), abandoning what he does best to attempt a U.S.-style boom-bang flick, something he has neither the expertise nor the budget to pull off. So we get Van Damme-ish story + skimpy kung-fu content + the usual wooden English-speaking actors, but a lot more of them. And what's with Jackie's poor-man's-Scorsese direction? The camera spun circles around the performers until I almost got sick. It was all so dull that I must admit to fast-forwarding through large chunks of it (which brings up another point: too long).

The only reason this gets two stars is because of two or three fabulous fight sequences, especially the climactic one on the skyscraper, which was FLABBERGASTING. It makes this just barely worth a rental for Jackie diehards. Everyone else, see "Supercop" or something again.

41 Look, Ma, it even has a plot
Nobody actors, death defying stuts, hilarious momments, subpar plot..What does this all add up to?...the elements of a Jackie Chan movie that make the movies entertaining. Who am I? is one of the many movies where Jackie takes the action level higher. The fight scenes are well done, and it even has a plot (Well, a plot that's better than some JC movies, anyway). As usual, Jackie's fancy kicking is more interesting to watch than his co-stars acting abilities. Even though I do think Michelle Ferre has serious potential to be a better actress if she goes that way (She was hired on a whim by JC and this is her only film). Cable got a huge break as it was able to premere this JC flick. Still, it suffers from the American editing job that has been put on many of Chan's films. It makes me wonder why they can't release his films in their original length. They could probably make more money rather than $16 million. I would've like to have seen this film, as well as Operation Condor and Mr Nice Guy, in its entirety. Still, Who Am I? has enough plot and action to keep JC lovers entertained. I rank it up there with the Police Story movies.
42 Jackie Chan - Who Am I?
As is usually the case with Jackie Chan movies made for Western audiences, Jackie's super-fast martial arts and insane stunts have been mostly replaced with guns and special effects which just aren't necessary in a JC film.

Still, if you take away all that and can wait about 45 minutes for the good stuff to kick in, then you're still left with a great watch. The 40+ Chan is showing no signs of slowing down and performs some of his craziest stunts to date, including an unbelievable tumble down an huge skyscraper.

As long as Jackie doesn't become too Americanised and continues to churn out the self-created special effects and not the computer generated ones, then his movie career should be a long way from being over.

43 Jackie Chan at his Best
I have to say that this movie is by far one of his best movies ever. The story, fight scenes, and the different locations come together very well. The acting was not that bad and the fight scene on the rooftop was the best I ever seen. I did wish they would have used the beautiful Michelle Ferre a little more in the movie than giving her such small parts. But If your looking for a movie with lots of action pick up this movie today.
44 Buy this Movie!
Want to see one of the best fight scenes ever? Then buy this DVD and watch the rooftop fight scene! Absolutely beautiful to watch. The choreography is amazing. The rest of the movie is pretty darn good too. You'll gasp as Jackie slides down the side of a building and your jaw will drop when you see him escape from the Internal Security team. Great action, great fights, great stunts, and great chase scenes. One of my top five Jackie Chan picks!
45 Great Performance By Jackie
My Opinion is that Jackie Chan really took acting to another level when he added his own death defying stunts! This was a GREAT Movie, It had a good plot to it, and didn't leave you sitting there bored any time of the movie! I Personally think the end Fight where Jackie Takes on These two other BREATH Taking Martial artists really made me give this movie 5 Stars! When he fought one of the opponents it some what reminded me of his ending fight in Drunken Master 2, his opponents flexability is incredible! I would just buy the movie for that one fight scene and as always the movie has plenty of great stunts and flashy moves by chan! What more can i say... Buy it! By The Way, If you purchase the DVD versian make sure to put slow motion on at the end where the woman playing a reporter gives the fake CIA a round-house kick, he was caucasion but seems to turn oriental when he gets kicked, lol...
46 US Film Industry Screws Us Again
Well, as usual, the US Film Industry screwed us again out of what could have been a great Jackie movie. For some reason, the US Film people think that Americans are incapable of understanding or enjoying the full version of any of Jackie's movies. It has been a frustration of many Jackie fans for YEARS! Scenes cut to save time, also ruin the continuity of the movie. Important scenes are cut to squeeze a movie into that 90 minute time frame. Any of you who have ever seen the Hong Kong versions of ANY of Jackie's movies know what I'm talking about. Many times it changes the mood and meaning of the whole movie. Who Am I? was a good movie, but the HK version is 100% better than the US version. I just wish they would release it the way it was meant to be release...COMPLETE!
47 .
This remarkably silly, direct-to-video Chan release is actually one of his better American movies. Funny, painfully cheesy, and full of quality action sequences all the way through. Recommended to those who found Supercop and Mr. Nice Guy a bit lackluster.
48 see this movie
Having seen Rush Hour, I was glad to see that Jackie was allowed the freedom to direct his starring movies once again. A main theme for him was the importance of conserving the environment, and the whole beginning third of the movie, set in South Africa, especially the jungle and safari scenes, were to get this message across. I thought his use of Rotterdam as a location was a great idea, as it let me see for really the first time what Holland is like, from the picturesque scenes, to the clog fight, the reclining bicycle, and the Dutch half of the martial arts duo he faces in the climactic finish.

The stuff he can pull off at the age of 44-45 is breath-taking. If you look closely, though, you can see visible signs of the years of sheer endeavor taking its toll on him. Now obviously this is only a relative comment, and not a criticism at all- his films are showing yet another transition as he takes the stiffening of his body into account, employing different kinds of stunts and action sequences without sacrificing the qualites we expect from his characters.

I wished Yuki was given more of a role in the movie- I don't know who did the scene where the car she drives revolves at full speed and neatly parks itself inconspicuosly into a space barely big enough to fit it, but it was amazing. As for Michele Ferre, she's very pretty, and I think she did ok given the script she had to work with - y'know, she HAD to come across as an ingratiating reporter, and so on.

The revolving bucket scene, the escape from the South African secret police, the lion chase, the FIGHT at the end, the list goes on and on. I know it isn't as radically packed with stunts and fights like some of his other movies, but it was good enough for me. I actually found the flashback in the helicopter (where the hitherto nameless agents from across the globe introduce themselevs to each other) really touching, with its camaraderie and all.

Oh, did anyone notice the guy who said he was from Korea? That's Ken Lo- the guy who played Jackie's nemesis in Drunken Master 2, and fought him in that amazing factory fight. In this movie, he gets 3 seconds worth of camera time! He's Jackie's real life bodyguard, and he often gets little cameo's like in this one. Occasionally he's outright funny (see "Gorgeous"). The Chinese guy at the end also gets some repeat appearances.

In this movie, though, the Dutch guy with the bandy, machine gun legs and cool dutch accent (I loved his "or we take the disk, and throw you off" to Jackie's character in the end)is great. There's lots of humour interspersed throughout the movie as well, and all in all, it adds up to a thrilling movie.

Buy it, rent it, whatever, just don't miss it.

49 Overrated & overhyped? I certainly think so!
It's apparent that most people that has written a review of this movie before me hasn't seen a lot of his older work, which, to say the least, is way better than "Who Am I?"

Now, to clear things up I'm not saying this movie s**ks or anything - it has its great moments. In fact, the entire beginning of the movie was very good and really looked like the Jackie Chan of old. Then it just went downhill from there with a few uphill bumps on the way.

All in all, "Who Am I?" doesn't hold up to the end. It's too long, has rather un-inspired and boring fights (c'mon people, the roof-top fight in the end isn't THAT good), lacks the great comedy Jackie usually provides us with (take Supercop for example, another one of his newer movies that has superb humor & action) and has several goofs that are too apparent to ignore. Some stuff are also just too ridiculos to cope with. Yellow mini-car or whatever ring a bell for anyone?

A couple of GOOD Jackie Chan movies are: "Project A" (probably one of his absolutly BEST - if not THE best), "Project A 2", "Armor of God", "Supercop" and "First Strike"...

Nah, I'll easily take anyone of those Jackie Chan movies ahead of "Who Am I?" any given day...

50 The BEST Jackie Chan Movie EVER!
This is one of the best Jackie Chan Movies i have ever seen. Congrats to Jackie! The fight seen on top of the building was absoloutely INCREDIBLE! He keeps you on the edge of the seat waiting for the next amazing seen. All of the fight scenes were fantastic and this is a movie that MUST be seen. The only negative though I could think of would probably be in some scenes, you could easily notice that Morgan the CIA Agent was played by a different actor for stunt purposes. (Like at the end when the girl agent kicks him). But all in all, I rate this the BEST Jackie Chan movie EVER!
51 A flavorful mix of fun, action, and drama.....Jackie style!!
This film contains a bit of everything in terms of what we Jackie Chan fans have come to expect from the world's greatest. I enjoyed every minute of it, from the opening parachute sequence to the spectacular fight scene on the roof of the office building at the end. Jackie's the one & only!!
52 very cool
a nother great chan movie'its got all the action you'd come to exspect. but i loved the fight scenes one of his longest scenes with a guy who is all punches and the other all kicks awsome' and what a fight scene it is. i loved this movie it starts out kinda slow but it picks up.
53 WOW!! The real Chan returns! Better than Rush Hour!!
Fantastic car stunts! Hilarious wooden shoe fight scene! The incredible escape from the police delivers with equal parts flexibility, force, and ferocity. Nice balance with the female actresses, especially Yuki the rally driver. All of the Chan trademarks--stunts on the very edge; action; self-deprecating humor; action; outtakes; action; sense of responsibility, ethics, honor, and morality; and, oh, did I mention action?!?

I appreciate Rush Hour for increasing Chan's exposure in the U.S., but Rush Hour comes across as almost flat after seeing Who Am I. If you purchase only one of Chan's recent movies, skip Rush Hour and buy Who Am I? or Supercop! More Chan excitement for your $$$!!

54 Whoami?=Sheer brilliance
This film is far superior to Rumble in the Bronx and Rush Hour.It just shows what a man can do if given enough rope and Jackie certainly doesn't hang himself.Even an avid anti Jackie fan liked this one when shown the film,so do yourself a favor and GET THIS!!!!!
55 Absolutely fantastic fight sequences!
I really thought the action in the movie was great. The story line, however, was a bit unbelievable. If you left out the scenes where he was adopted and cared for by an African tribe, I would have overlooked the silliness of it. But, the "clog" scene and the "tag team roof battle" was actually stupendous. The roof fight scene was so good, I had to show it to my friends and family members during my birthday party. Jackie's opponents are absolutely incredible and I wish and hope he continues to showcase such exceptional talent in all of his movies. Great flick and you will have a good time viewing it!
56 Awesome
If you are a fan of Jackie Chan you will love this movie. Jackie gives you evertything we have come to expect from him, incredible action and talent, humor that only Jackie pull off, and of course classic Jackie Chan cinematagraphy. His stunts and choreography will have you laughing half of the time and awe-struck the rest. You will love this movie. I could have given it five stars instead of four if he would teach his stunt men/women how to act.
57 ...
this movie is the best serioulsy, it cant be explained in words... forget glass bottle!
58 Soooo unf@^ing believable...
Jackie did it again!!!!!! I would give this movie 10 stars if I could. This was the best Jackie Chan movie I've ever seen, even better than Rush hour and Mr Nice guy. And it had a remarkable interesting story. I like the Surprise effects at the beginning of the movie combined with flashbacks in the later movie parts. It kept me guessing " what happened before", " what happens after" and " why did this and this happen". There are also some funny parts again like the one with Jackie and the female rally racer in the desert, for instance, or Jackie and the girls in the sports car with the gear at his balls. But the best parts are of course his action and stunt scenes. Again incredible fights, especially the Rotterdam part . The last opponents (the kicking guy was awesome) were pretty tough.
59 Surprisingly Good
This must be one of Jackie Chan's 5 best films. Although the first half hour of the movie is a bit lagged and the dialogue corny, there is some surprisingly funny comedy in between the amazing action sequences. The Russian fighter on the roof at the end was unbelievable, proving the art of Tae Kwon Do is truly one of the most elegant and beautiful once mastered.
60 Another great Jackie Chan movie
A must for avid Jackie Chan collectors like me. Heaps of action and fight scenes that still blow you away. This film harks back to his earlier movies in typical Jackie Chan style.I cannot wait to see what he comes up with next.
61 Better than Rush Hour... Excellent Movie
I've only recently become a Jackie Chan fan, but this is definitely one of his best. This movie has a ton of action and it's really funny too. From Africa to Rotterdam, the action never stops and the plot isn't half bad either. I've watched this movie 4 times now and I keep laughing at the humor and enjoying the fight scenes. The fight on top of the skyscraper at the end is incredible. If you like Jackie Chan, you have to buy this DVD.
62 A very pleasant surprise
This is a great flick for both devotees and novice fans of Jackie Chan.

Why Jackie Chan's U.S. distributors didn't release this in theaters is beyond me. Before I saw it, I thought that it would be c**p, but hell, it's Jackie, so I gave it a whirl. Though the first half hour is slow (by Jackie Chan standards, at least), once this flick gets going it ranks right up there with Drunken Master II and Police Story. The escape from the police with a rope and bucket, the chase and fight in the streets of Amsterdam (what Jackie can do wearing of wooden shoes...), and the final fight on the roof are amazing examples of action and comedic artistry. Stuff that ONLY Jackie Chan could pull off. There's even a car chase scene that breathes some life into the old warhorse of action movie cliches. I feared that Jackie Chan might be slowing down as he reached 45, maybe doing less dangerous stunts...no way.

The actors are terrible, the plot non-existent, the dialog silly, the production values shoddy at times, but one might as well complain the writing is poor in Playboy. You're there to look at the pictures, and Who Am I? has some that took my breath away.

63 A Pretty Kick Butt Movie....Definite Movie To Watch
TO ALL JAKIE CHAN WANNABES AND FANS, "WHO AM I" IS HIS BIGGEST MOVIE YET!!!. COMBINED WITH ACTION AND LAUGHTER, THIS MOVIE KNOCKS OFF "RUSH HOUR" WITH EASE. HEHEHEE. THIS MOVIE IS VERY FUNNY AND HAS A SCENE WITH AN AMAZING CAR-HINT HINT, NUDGE NUDGE. DEFINITLY GET THIS MOVIE AND WATCH IT. AND IF YOU FEEL OTHERS WISE ABOUT THIS MOVIE, GIVE ME SOME FEEDBACK!!. SHEER BRILLIANCE! :).
64 One of the best action films ever...
I should thank my cousin for introducing me to Jackie Chan. After watching a few films I became fan... I watched his last him "Who am I?" and i should say you have to watch it if you get the chance. This film is not only an action film, it's one of the funniest films I have ever seen... You can be sure Jackie never uses stuntmen. If you watch the film you will understand what I mean. Those dangerous scenes up on the skyscraper... This man has no fear!... So go and watch this film!!!
65 Awesome Movie Made Jackie Chan Style
At first, I did not hear much from this movie because it was not avertised well. So me being a die hard Chan fan, I decided to rent it when I first saw it at the video store. While I was watching the movie, it totally took me by surprised with the unbelievable action! In this many scenes, Jackie displays his fighting ability to the greatest effect moving very smoothly and incredibly fast. He looks like he is a twenty-years-old in the movie. Also, the stunts were imcomparable to any other action star(as usual). While including a great deal of high technology to give a little James Bond flavor and some of the best fight scenes I ever saw, this movie is not one to miss!!!
66 WHo Am I Is great ---with so much of humour and action.....
In the this world there are so many different types of movies.....of all the movies, Hollywood movies and movies made is Hong Kong are the best.... Of all the movies, Hindi movies ( Indian made movies are the worst),,,they don't know how to make real life movies...all they do is sing, dance, play and cry....I can't believe Indian (HIndustanis) are still making hell lot of childish....boring (min 3hrs+) movies....hahaha. I guess they finish making these junks in a week.

JC should receive great honour..for all his roles in the movies............all the best JC

67 Thin plotline, yet, extremely funny and enjoyable.
This is one of Jackie Chan's best movies. Although maybe suffering from a thin plotline, the action, suspence, comedy, and of course, the Jackie Chan trademark of death defying stunts are all in this movie. Differencing from the movie everyone seems to compare it with, Who Am I? is a true Jackie Chan film, unlike the American film Rush Hour.

Of all the Jackie Chan movies I have thus seen, Who Am I? gets my vote for the best Jackie Chan movie, perhaps over many other types of movies as well. Its one of the rare types of movies I actually want to purchase after I rented and view it several times, and Who Am I? turned me from a "Chan-fan" to a "Chan-aholic" (as said by a fellow reviewer). Although plotline is somewhat soft and may be confusing at first, it all fits in as the beautiful scenes travel from Africa to Europe. This film makes you feel like Chan is once again risking his life to make us happy. Even the music (which I am now looking for the soundtrack) is great, and taught me that Jackie Chan can sing! (no kidding!)

Over all, this movie deserves a 5 star rating, because Chan should deserve it in this humourous and exciting film. I reccomend you don't pass this one up, because its a disappointment already that this film isn't as famous as it has the potential to be.

68 This movie is more than superior
This forgotten masterpiece lives up to his other spectacular movies. This great combination of heavy action and comedy proves to be superior and the action is eye-boggling. All of the stunts are extremely well choreographed and the story matches well with the blend of the two genres. You must own this movie to be the true Jackie Chan fan.
69 A classic
Really this film is a lot better than Rush Hour, which basically is an American film with Jackie dropped in to give the film a twist. But Who Am I? is a ture Jackie classic. The action is brilliant and the plot is better than most of his recent films. I'm also lucky to have seen it on the big screen as it's just been released here at selected cinemas (although it deserves more). The beginning takes a little to warm up, even though there is still some action. But once the police get him it's action all the way, most notably the car chase and the excellent fights (especially the end fight). His stunts are all intact-the slide's great, and the humour is funny (standing on the bad guy's feet with the clogs and saying "that was good" is a fine point). All in all this is Jackie Chan all the way. Rush Hour doesn't even compare.
70 " Who Am I" is simply a masterpiece!
When i first started watching it i thought is was going to be like Rush Hour. More talking than action. But i was soo off. It has a lot of action and comedy. I thought the last fights scenes just rocked. When Jackie was standing over that sky-scraper looking down at it, I was like NO Way! But he did it, an awesome stunt. It is an excellent movie, a must see!
71 Uniquely Jackie Chan much better then Rush Hour
Who Am I? is one of the best of his movies. There is an innocence that is hard to copy in our film work. I know how hard he works on every aspect of his films but he makes it all look like a walk in a park. Which in my mind is the sign of a true genius. I love Supercop, Mr. Nice Guy, Police Story I & II. His Hong Kong pictures are much better than his "Hollywood" pictures. There is a large difference.
72 Sub-bar Chan-movie
I think this movie is very overrated. It looks like tv-flick and there are not enough action scenes. Story and dialogue is even more uglier than on other JC-movies. Why they have to copy from american tv-movies and not from REAL theater movies. AND I usually love Chan movies, but this one is far from the best. Still, the action is good and the end fight is great and belongs one of the best fight scene of all-time, but the rest of the movie just isn't on that level.
73 Better than Rush Hour
I have seen many of Jackie Chan's movies, and after the slight disappointment of Rush Hour I wasn't expecting much from this movie. It gets off to a very slow start, but once it gets going it doesn't give you a chance to breathe! It has some of the most breathtaking stunts and fight sequences that Chan has ever filmed. The highlight is an absolute corker of a car chase (especially when they get a car on it's side back onto it's wheels without even getting out of the car)!
74 Go for it
Once again Jackie Chan hits the mark with an all out escapade of stunts, slapstick, and great locations. This is a must for any"CHAN FAN" the only bad thing I can say about this movie is the 2 times during the course of the film when Jackie screams,"WHO AM I?"once again remeinds us of why he should never do drama.Besides from that this film is a fun filled romp, with a kick butt fight scene at the end,not to be missed!!!
75 GO TO MAJOR VIDEO IN THE PREVIOUSLY VIEWED ISLE AND PAY 9.99
How much better can you get. A huge stunt at the end, the best fight scene on a roof top and humour. I own, This movie and Rush Hour, Operation Condor 2, and Mr. Nice Guy, this is definately the one with the best stunts. PLEASE don't buy it here, go to major video in the previously viewed Isle and buy it there for 9.99. That's Where I got it
76 Who is jackie Chan ?
Who Am I ?, is the first film Jackie has directed for over 8 years, but one thing is for sure, he still delivers the goods.

Who Am I ? is filled to the brim with great fight scenes, the usual death defying stunts and the characteristic humour associated with Jackie's movies.

But what makes this film so appealing is the fantastic use of locations, as the action shifts from Africa to Europe, and the result is a visual feast.

If you want to find out who Jackie Chan is check out this movie, rather than waste your time on the inferior Rush Hour, which is a good film, but it is not a good Jackie Chan film.

The only real fault with this movie is that it is a little over long (as some of jackie's self directed movies tend to be).

But such a problem is only a minor quibble.

Who Am I is Jackie at his near best, see it and love it !

77 BEST LOOKING GIRL IN THE WORLD DEBUTS IN THIS FILM
"WHO AM I" DEBUTS NEW FILM GODDESS MICHELLE FERRE. WHO I THINK IS THE MOST GORGEOUS GIRL IN THE WORLD.... SO MICHELLE IF YOU READ THIS, CONTACT ME... OR IF SOMEBODY HAS ANY INFORMATION ON HER, PLEASE SEND IT TO ME. GREAT ACTION MOVIE!!! ONE OF JACKIE'S BEST.
78 Simply Awesome!
This movie sent me over the edge, from Chan-fan to hard core Chan-aholic. Watching this is like watching a cross between Buster Keaton, Gene Kelly and one of those real-life disaster flicks where people jump from a burning high-rise. Jackie takes such insane risks in this one, I almost feel guilty watching it! But it's also clever, and touching, and funny. I disagree with those who found the beginning slow-but I think the version I saw had some scenes missing. Never the less, I thought this was a lightening-paced thrill from beginning to end. It was way too short!
79 Not worth 90 bucks
It's not worth 90 dollars, but sure is worth 20! One of Jackie Chan's best. After I saw Rush Hour, I thought he was losing his fighting skills... Boy, was I dumb! In this movie, he does the best fighting I've ever seen him do before! If you're a Jackie fan, like me, you'll love this movie, and watch it over and over. Rent it... Also rent Supercop!
80 AWSOME
One of his best. The stunts in this one are amazing. A must see for anyone.
81 Acting supurb! Storyline great! Action Fenominal!
In this film Jackie Chan displayed not only his fantastic abilities as a fighter and a stunt man, but proof that he's got what it takes to be a real actor in the full sense of the word. "Whoami" is a man searching for his real self... who he used to be; and with his new-found friends (ie. the driver - unexpectedly funny, and the reporter - beautiful, but too faulty of an actress) by his side, he builds up to the exploding roof-top climax through drama, emotion, and dizzying stunts, along with camera angles to really be impressed by. I must disagree with some of the other reviewers, though, on the idea that the slide down the roof being his most dangerous stunt. The scene where Jackie falls from the helicoptor (approxamatly equal to that of a 10 story building), and crashing through the trees to the ground was not a planned event; he actually broke nearly every bone in his body for that take. (refferenced through the A&E Jackie Chan special). I highly recommend this film; not only for the action so desperately sought for in Jackie Chan movies, but for a new look on his abilities and his capabilities. Enjoy!
82 Jackie Chan always comes up with something new.
No Need to say More. "Who am I" should be the top 5 of all Jackie Chan Movies. I don't know why he did not release this one to U.S cinema.
83 The martial arts scenes in this movie were unbelievable!
I rented this movie on pay-per-view. I also taped it but sadly, my VCR ate it. The rooftop martial arts scene was most excellent! I've never seen anything like it! The choreography was fantastic! I loved the different styles of the two bad guys on the roof as well. We're not talking amatures here, we're talking superb athletes. The women (especially the racer) were great too! A must have!!!!!
84 335131
i like your action, but there are some special effects.you should do it yourself.
85 Jackie Chan steals the television set once again.
Although this movie didn't make it into the American Market theater's, this movie is loaded with action, jam-packed with humor, and to add the cherry, Jackie executes a stunt which is known to his stunt cordinators as "the world's most dangerous stunt," when Jackie Chan slides off the side of a building which is slanted at a 45 degree angle with no where else to go for him but down. Jackie Chan walked the walk after he talked the talk about this film being a really good one.
86 Very Good Jacky chan MOVIE
very good jacky chan movie, your gonne love it good story line some big action stunts
87 Wow! Typical Jackie Chan - completely entertaining
Let me state upfront that I am not an unbiased reviewer but rather a believer ("my name is Paul and I am a Jackie-Chan-fan..."). The man is, as always, amazing in his stunts. Here he again manages to take action and humor, mix them up in diverse locations, and come up with a winner.

Although the plot is a bit thin in places (who watches his movies for the plot?), this movie is fast-moving from the get-go. Action, action, action. Which in Jackies's case always means stunts and fights... from an atypical car chase in South Africa to a clog-assisted dust-up in the mean streets of Rotterdam to the truly breathtaking final scenes, this film hit all the right buttons.

If you've ever seen Jackie Chan before this film is sure to please, and if you haven't you're in for a family-friendly treat (staged violence aside).

88 Jackie Chan is amazing
The best Jackie Chan movie yet. He does incredible stunts that put Hollywood actors to shame. Fantastic fight scenes and a good story. I couldn't recommend it more.
89 Jessel Lo- Jackie Chan fan
This is the best Jackie Chan movie EVER!!!!!
90 Jackie Proves it again ! This is why he is the man
Are you serious Jackie! You would think that after Drunken Master II, Rush Hour, and Super Cop you that the guy can't make us go WOW anymore right! Wrong! Jackie just goes ballistic in this one. His fight scene with Stretch Legstrong and his chinese friend was worth the price of admission alone. Lots of action and comedy. Much better than Rush Hour and Jackie's co-star was not as annoying.
91 The Best !!!!!!!
This is a typical Jackie Chan movie, unlike Rush Hour this one is full of stunts and fights. The last fight scene on top of the skyscraper is the best Jackie ever did and the stunts are pretty amazing too. The movie was partially shot in Rotterdam, Holland and guess what that's my hometown!!!!!!!! Jackie was invited there to attend a filmfestival and he saw some good places to shot his movie, luckelly for me so I got to see him up close and see him work. The movie becomes much more interessting because you recognize some places. Like the big carchase where the girl rides like crazy, one moment they are in another town and than she drives around the corner and they are in Holland driving down the steps into a shoppingcenter !! One of the two guys that Jackie fights whith on top of the skyscraper is Dutch (not the Chinese guy but the one that keeps his leg really high). The best movie Jackie made.
92 the best jackie chan movie
Who am I is the best Jackie Chan film ever. It's even bigger than Titanic in most Asian countries so Who am I probably set the record for making the most money on a film (Jackie spents less than 20 million on the movie). This is also the last movie Jackie's producer Leonard Ho did before he died (but most people don't know him). Who am I also features the world's most dangerous stunt with Jackie sliding down a slanted part of the movie about 21 stories high. Columbia did a good job improving picture and sound quality and kept almost all of the original music (unlike every other Jackie Chan movie). They even kept the credits in its original Hong Kong quality and you can hear Jackie singing (other companies always cut his singing out). But Columbia cut out part of the beginning where the tribe was teaching him their ways. That was most of the comedy in Who am I. Also people complain about Michelle's acting. She's supposed to act like that, Asian viewers actually think it's funny. This is also the only movie Jackie uses CGI in. Anyways Who am I has a lot of qualities that make it the best movie in the world
93 Who Am I
This movie is realy good, It had realy good action Kung Fu and good comed
94 Excellent fighting
Toward the end of the movie, there is a fight between Jackie and two other guys. That is one of the best fights that I have ever seen on t.v. without weapons.
95 No-stop action all the way through!
Jackie Chan is awesome in this movie. The beggining is slow, but when it gets going, boy does it get going! If you haven't seen it you have got to!

Quote of the Day:

If there is a possibility of several things going wrong,

the one that will cause the most damage will be the one to go wrong.

If you perceive that there are four possible ways in which a procedure
can go wrong, and circumvent these, then a fifth way will promptly develop.

A priest asked: What is Fate, Master?
And the Master answered:
It is that which gives a beast of burden its reason for existence.
It is that which men in former times had to bear upon their backs.
It is that which has caused nations to build byways from City
to City upon which carts and coaches pass, and alongside which inns
have come to be built to stave off Hunger, Thirst and Weariness.
And that is Fate? said the priest.
Fate... I thought you said Freight, responded the Master.
That's all right, said the priest. I wanted to know
what Freight was too.
