Judy Brown
1 Joke Stew provides a hardy laugh!
This book is a must have for aspiring comics and comedy lovers alike. Brown's book is a tool that inspires as well as guides those interested in the art of joke writing. The book includes a wide range of talent from legendary comics like Bill Cosby to the up and coming comedic stars of tomorrow. If nothing else the book allows the reader the opportunity to learn what makes these neurotic people tick.
2 A must read....
Joke Stew is a great way for a reader to get in touch with his or her favorite stand-up comedians. It's a lot of fun to read over and over again as you try and remember your favorite jokes. Same recipe as Joke Soup, but with all new comedians and quotes. Great Book!!!
3 Tired of those awkward pauses? Pick up this book....
Joke Stew is fantastic! It's a lot of fun to have on your coffee table. You can pick it up and browse for hilarious observations on any subject (great for when you need a funny quote to begin speeches and presentations).
4 No Jesting! This is a great book!
I have copies of both JOKE SOUP and JOKE STEW. I actually bought several copies of both to have on hand as gifts for any and all occasions. You'll find an amazing amount of comics and their funniest material in these books. Whether you're a stand-up comic yourself or you need to give a speech for any occasion, you'll find Judy's books invaluable as inspiration in writing your own funny jokes.
5 Great Bathroom Reading
Judy Brown has done it again! As in her first book Joke Soup, Judy Brown has collected an unbelievable amount of material from the best comics around, (young and old). This is the perfect book to pick up and put down (i.e. great for reading whilst visiting the commode). I bought several copies for people in my family all of whom loved it!
6 Great fun
I bought this book for my family. We sat around the dinner table one night reading jokes to each other. We all found topics and special comedians that we liked. There was something for everyone's type of humor in there. It's great to pick up when you need a few laughs and I've given it as a gift to several of my friends as well.
7 No Fat
I have hundreds of joke books, collections of humorous essays, funny plays and screenplays. In each I have to wade through a lot of junk to get to the funny parts. In Joke Soup, Judy Brown has cut out the fat and serves up nothing but the funny stuff. Joke Soup features jokes from hundreds of today's best comedians, from the famous and not so famous(ok, that would be me). Just buy it- you'll laugh out loud!
8 A must-have!
I was studying stand-up comedy when I was introduced to Joke Stew. This is an excellent compilation of well-known stand-up comedians, as well as some up-and-coming talent. If you're interested in the craft of writing a joke or just looking for a good laugh, Joke Stew is a great addition to your library. Many of these jokes, particularly from the unknowns are hysterical, even without the verbal delivery. If laughter is the best medicine, you can get your daily dosage from Joke Stew!
9 Joke Stew Sizzles
I loved this book!. Organized by topic, it features comedy gems from up-and-coming hip comics; female comics such as Amy Ashton and Maura Kennedy, as well as the standard headliners such as Leno and Ray Romano. There is a point-of-view on just about every topic from therapy to movies to divorce.
This is a great gift for anybody who loves comedy, especially those who don't make it out to the clubs and catch any of the underground comedy that fails to make it to television.
10 Funny!
I recently bought this book after reading an article about it in the newspaper. It is full of jokes from a wide variety of comedians. The jokes are arranged by subject and ALL (with few exceptions)of them are hilarious. Comedians in this book range from the legendary(George Carlin,Richard Pryor) to late night talk show hosts (Leno, Letterman, Johnny Carson, Dennis Miller) to brand new stand ups (Mitch Hedberg, Dave Attel)and many more. The only complaint I have about this book is that it loses the delivery of the more animated comedians which can make a few jokes sound awkward if you are not familiar with the comic. Highly recommended for fans of stand up comedy!
