1 Not worth it.
As much as I stand behind Kodak's line of digital cameras. I donot at all recommend this dock. It is simply not practical. The only reason I own it is because it was a birthday gift. This dock is a scam, it does exactly what I think the usb adapter should have been able to do. Another thing is that it only charges the kodak brand batteries it comes with. Unless you're one of those people that just must have matching components, this item should not be on your wish list.
What to do:
For this price, you can get a pretty decent internal or usb multi-card reader (depending on your system) and Energizer rechargeables with a 30 min charger and you will still have a couple dollars left over.
2 Good Product but...
I like the dock. however the cable is rather bluky and it means that the cable tends to fall out. Also, the power indication seems a bit misleading. I take the camera out, put it back in and the lights change? Huh?
3 A Waste Of Time
The battery does not charge. After contacting Kodak and given a rather laborious process of re-charging the battery (their claim was that it lost it's charge), the battery holds a charge for 2 days. Not really worth the $60-70. Who cares if it takes 3 hours to charge if it only holds its life for 2 days. Buy the disposables and save yourself a lot of aggravation.
4 Kodak EasyShare Dock 6000 extends life of DX series camera
My daughter wanted a digital camera for Christmas. She has been using inexpensive film cameras for years. However, she always breaks the camera's battery compartment door after about six months and I have to buy her another film camera. The Kodak DX series cameras all have the same type of flimsy battery compartment door. The USB cable to hook the camera to the computer is very tiny and delicate. If you are not gentle with the connector, you could cause damage, rendering the Kodak camera useless. I bought the $280.00 Kodak DX-6340 digital camera for her to use. Since the camera is so expensive, I don't want to replace it in six months due to broken USB connector or battery compartment door breakage. The Kodak EasyShare Camera Dock 6000 solves both of these problems. It is true you have to buy special rechargeable NIMH batteries, but there is a brand of NIMH battery pack made by DigiPower available for $15.00 from Circuit City. Since the Camera Dock 6000 conviently recharges the battery every time the camera sits in the dock, you never have to open the battery compartment, it would be like charging a cell phone battery. The battery should last one or two years before you need to replace the battery. If you want your camera to last a while, this camera dock goes a long way to extending the life of DX series camera. I bought the printer dock initially and returned it un-opened after I found the cost of printing at the local SAM's club a lot cheaper. The Printer Dock 6000 provides the same convenience and provides printing capability. However the refill kit costs $25.00 and comes with 40 sheets of 4x6 photo paper with enough ink exactly for the 40 sheets. That works out to be a cost of 65 cents per print. I could get SAM's club 1 hour photo department to print the digital prints for 17 cents a print. So I decide the printer supplies is too expensive. The Kodak Camera Dock 6000 on the other hand allows me the same convience at home to print through a generic photo printer made by Epson, Canon, HP and others at a lower cost using my home computer. However, at 17 cents a print from SAM's club 1 hour photo, I don't have to even do the work. Just put the pictures on a CD and take it over to SAM's club 1 hour photo department. If I want a size other than 4x6, SAM's club 1 hour photo can do it. Not possible with the Kodak printer dock 6000. So, I say the Kodak EasyShare Camera Dock 6000 is defintely the way to go. $80.00 is not a lot to pay to get this level of convience for the DX series camerads, similar to using a cell phone.
5 Easy to use but charging a minus
Kodak Easyshare Dock 6000 Review
On the plus side:
The dock makes battery charging and transferring pictures a snap. A great idea. If you like ease of use, you'll like this dock.
On the minus side:
1. The dock will only charge the Kodak NiMH battery pack it comes with. It will not charge any other NiMH batteries. I believe the battery pack it comes with is 1600 mAH capacity. That's a limitation because you can buy NiMH batteries today that are up around 2200 - 2300 mAH. The higher the mAH, the higher the lasting power of your batteries.
2. Aside from charging the battery pack, the dock provides no additional functions that the camera doesn't already have.
Bottom Line:
If simplicity and ease of use is important to you, you'll be happy with this dock.
6 photo printing fun
I purchased this printer dock very quickly after I purchased the EasyShare DX6340. Set-up was simple, though, the print dock was not happy sharing a USB hub with my palm pilot. I can pack the dock and take it with me on family occassions and then print the pictures for everyone the same day I took the pictures. The recharging feature with the dock is a must as I find I use my camera every day and just let it live on the dock to maintain a charge. It's fun to buy postcard backing and mail the waterproof pictures the same day I take the photos. I get lots of happy comments about that.
I give only 4 stars as occassionally I am disappointed with the clarity of the picture. I think that has more to do with the digital image on the computer being so crisp and bright, and that is lost in the transfer to the photo. People who have not seen the digital image don't notice or make comment. And letting the local photo lab print from my digital images isn't any better. I would also love the ability to print a variety of picture sizes beyond just the 4X6. I would enjoy a 5X7 cartridge to play with too.
I never thought I would part with my old SLR camera outfit, but being able to print my own 4X6's at home is convenient.
7 easily connect to your PC and charge your battery
the Kodak EasyShare 6000 dock is (almost) a one-stop shop for all CX/DX 6000 and LS 600 series cameras. it is small, lightweight, and very portable. it charges the camera's NiMH battery pack, connects via USB to your computer for downloading files, and connects to a TV for slideshows. if you want to print as well, look for the Printer Dock 6000.
so is this a good buy? the bundle includes a rechargeable battery so that accounts for half of the price. the other half is for the convenience of being able to connect to your PC without having to remove your flash memory. if you look at it that way, this dock is a good value. but if you already have a flash memory reader, i would buy the rechargeable battery separately. if you want to go full-bore, check out the Printer Dock 6000. it's everything the Dock 6000 is plus an excellent 4x6" printer.
i hope this helps you with your buying decision. peace.

The onle thing this lacks is a direct connect to a printer via usb cable from the camera to the front usb port of a printer (hp printer)
