Kodak's EasyShare Printer Dock 6000 is the easiest way to create Kodak-quality photos with your EasyShare camera. Simply dock your camera, press print, and you’ll have a 4 x 6-inch photo with the brilliance and durability you expect from Kodak. You can even hook up the Printer Dock 6000 to your TV for easy slide show viewing. Just like the convenient EasyShare camera dock, the Printer Dock 6000 transfers pictures to your PC in just one touch and charges your Kodak camera's battery.

The Printer Dock 6000 is compatible with Windows PCs and Macs, but a computer is not required. It's compact enough to take anywhere, so you don’t have to wait until you’re back home to start printing.

The Printer Dock 6000 uses Kodak color cartridges and photo paper (with Kodak XtraLife laminate coating) to produce prints that are highly durable, waterproof, and tear resistant to last a lifetime. The quantity of paper exactly matches the quantity of archival dye with the EasyShare color cartridge and photo paper kit. It all works together so you'll always know how many more pictures you can print. And because the printer dock is based on Kodak's continuous tone thermal dye transfer process, you can count on getting stunning photos with vivid color.

This package contains the Printer Dock 6000, 10-piece sample photo paper kit, Kodak color cartridge, NiMH rechargeable battery pack for Kodak 6000 series digital cameras, AC adapter, Kodak printer driver software, and cleaning tool.

1 Great for printing high quality pics if you're not in a rush
I got this for my birthday from my boyfriend. I had already had gotten a Kodak easyshare camera from him so this was a great little gadget for me to own. I tried it out the first time months ago and it worked great. It printed out high-quality pictures. Even today, it is still working great and I couldn't believe how easy it was to print pictures from the computer. The only bad thing about it is that it takes a looong time to print. You'll be sitting watching the paper feed through at least 4 times before it completes printing. And buying the printer cartridge and paper can add up after a while.

Here's a tip: if you haven't used it in a while, make sure to get any dust off of the paper because some of it is still exposed to the air.
2 Cool little machine!
I wanted a digital camera, but I don't have a computer, nor do I plan on getting one any time soon. Also, I'm lazy, so taking my camera to a store to develope pictures seemed like alot of hassle. So, this little gadget has worked out pretty well for me so far.

I only have 2 bad things to say about it. The first one is about paper loading. Mine seems to not like a full tray of paper. If I load the tray full (but not too full) the printer tells me it's out of paper and to load more. It took a while of hand feeding the pages until I figured this out. To have it feed itself effetively, give it small bites (fill the tray to half).

The other negative thing about it is it may take 90 seconds to print out a picture....unless it's printing out 50-60 pictures (week long vacation). After about the 20th picture it gets a little warm and takes about 4-5 minutes a picture.

So you do the math....5 minutes a picture, 50 pictures, handfeeding the printer....took a couple days to get my pics.
3 Enjoying a "printing lab" in my room
Yesterday I purchased the Kodak printer dock 6000 to go along with my Kodak Cx6330 digital camera. So far I am very pleased. The first thing I noticed about this printer dock is the size. It's small enough to sit on my little desk with extra room. Secondly, it was a breeze to set up. It took, at most, 10 minutes. Make sure you have you custom insert handy in case the universal insert is not to your liking.

The price for this printer dock is great. Having a "printing lab" in your room for under $150? That's pretty cool. Luckily, I received a 256 MB MC with this purchase free (about a $100 value). This printer comes with a sample pack of 10 4 x 6's. It has a sample printer cartridge. It's definitely a sample. It printed out about 10 photos before telling me I need to replace the cartridge. That being said, I recommend buying a set of 4 X 6's and color cartridge.

Speaking of which, this printer dock only prints 4 X 6 photographs. Not a problem for me, but may be for others. The Kodak printer dock 6000 prints beautiful photographs quickly. First it prints the yellows, then reds, and finally, the blues. The photo quality is superb.

Using this printer dock with my computer is a great option. I am able to print off photographs stored on my computer or edit all photographs before printing. I am not sure if this can be done without the computer, but I can also center the photographs. This way I do not lose any of the photograph while removing the perforated edges. This may not matter to some, but to me it is a very important aspect in making the images look their best.

I do not see any reason to not rate the Kodak Printer Dock 6000 less than 5 stars. If there is, I will edit my review. :)

4 Great Quality
I love the quality of the pictures I get with the 6000. I have the DX6340 camera as well and the two of them together are the best electronic purchases I have ever made. The camera is a snap to use, and combine that with this great printer and you've got a match made in heaven. We'd take forever to get a roll of film to the store and then to pick it up would be months and months. By the time we'd get the pictures back, they'd be a year old! Having a printer at home that prints store developed quality pictures is priceless. Plus, I don't have to pay to have a whole roll of film developed, when I really only needed 3 or 4 of the pictures printed to begin with. Very easy to use (set up was 5 minutes), and a snap to clean and change the paper.
5 Cheaper printing carts
The 40-pack w/ink is $18.99 at Costco, which is about the cheapest I've found it--this comes to about 50 cents a print with sales tax. This is 20 cents more per print than taking your picture card into the store for finishing, so as other reviewers have said, you need to weigh the convenience factor. As for the price of entry, don't be afraid to save $30-$50 by buying a refurbished model--you get the same 1-year warranty. Plus keep in mind that the printer includes a 10-pack cartridge (about a $5 value) and an extra camera battery (a $20 value), so the price of entry may not be as high as you think. (A refurb unit goes for aroud $120, which makes it less than $100 after you consider the extras.)

There's another benefit if your Kodak easy share camera didn't come with a recharging dock; if it did, you can probably sell it on eBay for $30 or so. One nice thing about having the camera docked for recharging is that you always know where it is. I have a DX6490 and have yet to have to resort to swapping batteries in a day's use.

Also be aware that a new model is coming out in June that offers a couple extra, though for most of us minor features (check www.kodak.com for details); this will likely drive prices on the current version even lower.

6 Impressive Printer and Customer Service
Before I bought this printer I read all the reviews and the only negative ones were about printers that were broken. It just so happened, that my printer dock arrived defective. While it was certainly disappointing, mistakes happen. Things break! Anyway, at that point, my biggest concern was about the quality of the kodak customer service. I called the customer service number and received a lot of help from the representive in which I spoke. He gave me detailed instructions on how to ship the printer off to be repaired. Three days after I mailed the printer back to Kodak, I received an e-mail from them stating that they had received my package and had begun to work on the problem. They also provided me with a link so I could check the progress of my repair. Two days after that I received another e-mail stating that they had shipped my printer back to me and to be expecting it in 3 days. And sure enough, it arrived right on time and they gave me a brand new printer! I believe that defects are highly unusual in the product, so don't let those other reviews scare you off!

As for the quality of the prints...I am amazed at how great they are! I am in love with this printer!!!!!

7 highly satisfied
(In a nutshell, if you're going to use it with a computer and do not have a Kodak camera that's compatible with the unit, you'll need to buy a special USB cable. The cable should cost about $11.00 US. WIth the cable, I'd give it 5 stars.)

I've had it with clogged injet nozzles and paper jams. I thought this little printer would be wonderful to demo digital photography for my college students. So, the price was irresistable and I bought one.

My only complaint (only in regards to Kodak)is that i had planned to use it only with my computer. I opened the box, followed the relatively EZ instructions (just like installing most USB perpiherals) and got down to connecting it to the puter and - guess what? No USB cable. After a bit of anger and frustration subsided, I went back to read the directions one more time ...

Ohhh ... it says "use the cable supplied WITH YOUR KKODAK CAMERA" (empasis mine). How about that! Luckily I live in an area filled with stores. Staples Office Supplies came though (about an hour round trip and $11.00 for the cable).

No - you cant do the logical thing like using a standard cable off some other gizmo (well, maybe if yoou're very lucky). The 6000 uses a special mini plug on one end ( Kodak references info about the cable at www.kodak.com/go/printerdock )

So, once i had the new cable, i hooked it up and it worked perfectly. For the record, in case anyone's interested, I use it on an old Win98 600 mhz gateway.

Hey Kodak!!! - why can't you include a cable and raise the price a buck?

I'm very satisfied with the image quality. It's small, light, and portable. Great for transporting to various campuses.

On amazon.com, the price was irresistable and it was delivered ahead of schedule.

8 Staggeringly Excellent Product!
If you have a Kodak digital camera in the CX/DC line - you absolutely must buy this printer. I'm not a professional image editor or photographer, but I can manage to get a very nice print out of my HP5550, using a premium glossy paper and HP's photo print cartridge. The difference is that I can push one button on the Kodak Dock and get a superior quality print with exactly zero effort.

Kodak has built in a remarkable array of features - it is very easy to print one, mutliple, or groups of prints. The print cartidge and paper are evenly matched so that when you're out of paper, you're also out of ink (using the color cartidge and photo paper kit). The "lamination step" produces a beautiful glossy image, and the whole process is very fast.

Working as a standalone unit, the printer dock uses the camera's LCD to give you options for printing, while simultaneously charging the camera's batteries (NiMH or Li Ion).

The dock will also link to a computer via the same USB connector provided with the camera (We've used a DX6490 and CX 6330 with this printer). The Kodak software installs nicely and works in conjunction with the EasyShare software to enable the same range of printing options that the one-touch feature on the printer dock provides.

You can also hook the printer up to a TV and run a slide show, although I'm not sure why I would want to do this.

The Dock takes a fair amount of working room - the prints load in a tray in the front and then project out the back as the red/green/blue/laminate passes are made. Consequently, you need a fair amount of space both in front of and behind the printer dock. Still - it's a lot less room than my HP5550 takes up.

We were up and running with the dock in about 10 minutes. The cartidge is easily loaded, the paper is easily loaded, and the operation is dead simple.

I just can't find anything wrong with this product! Kodak has managed to floor me again!

9 Amazing!
I just bought the Kodak 6340 and the printer dock. What have I done without it? The set up was very easy and I find that the picture quality rivals that of 35mm pictures. I am an avid scrapbooker and this printer provides me with the most amazing pictures. I love the fact that you don't have to be connected to the computer to print pictures. The set up was very easy and I am still amazed that I can take a picture of my kids and in a few seconds I can have a tangible picture.
10 best Valentine's present ever
My husband bought me the Kodak share 6330 camera, and this print dock. It is absolutely the best!! Sure, you pay a little more for prints, but you can do them at home, whenever you want. You can also take it with you when you go on vacation, take your pics, and print them out. The greatest thing about that--Say you're at Niagra Falls. You take your pictures, go back to the hotel, print them out. What looked good on the LCD screen wasn't quite what you wanted. Go back in the morning and retake it. You're not back home with your pictures from the developer, saying "This isn't quite the picture I wanted you to see, but it's close." It's light-weight, convenient, and even my 11-year old can use it. No more having to down load into the computer, or waiting for the originals for 2-3 days. WE LOVE IT!!!!
11 Easy Printing of Digital Camera Pictures
I saw this item for sale in a Staples ad - $199.95, before a $50.00 mail-in rebate. I also had a $30.00 coupon I received from Staples. So I decided to try this out - for $119.95 plus tax, why not?

The setup was very easy. Pulled all the parts out of the box, then assembled it, which means filling up the paper tray and hooking the paper tray to the printer dock. Then put in the color cartridge, then plug it in. To print just from the camera, you truly do not ever need to turn on any computer.

I placed my Kodak CX6200 digital camera (paid $95.00 for this) onto the dock, and in just a few moments I had a printed picture from the camera. Other reviews about the quality of the pictture are true. It looks like a photo lab-developed picture. I am impressed with it so far.

Then I hooked it up to my computer (you install a printer driver on your computer, then you can use it with your computer after you hook it up with a USB cable) and printed a picture that I have on my hard drive. The docking station hooks up to your computer via the USB cable of your camera, so if you do not have a digital camera with a USB cable, you will need to get a USB cable to hook it up to your computer (the docking station does NOT come with its own USB cable). Once again, easy to do, and an excellent result. I used the Kodak EasyShare software that came with my camera to select and print the picture from my computer's hard drive.

It comes with a starter kit of 10 pages of Kodak photo paper (to print out 4X6 photos), and one printer cartridge. Evidently you can buy refills that have 40 pages of Kodak photo paper and a printer cartridge for about $25.00. This is how you figure about 62 cents per picture ($25.00 divided by 40 = $.625).

So overall, this appears to be a "keeper" for me. The retail price ($199.95) is kind of high - but if you can be patient and wait for another rebate to come out, and/or use a coupon like I did from Staples, then you can get this for quite a bit less. And I believe you will like the quality of the prints.

12 Disappointed
Kodak cx6330 camera was given to me by my family as a Christmas gift. It stopped working after using it three times. At first I thought it was the battery, but after charging it all night the camera still didn't work. Bought a new battery ($14.00), charged it and still the camera did not work. After emailing the Kodak center I was told that the camera needed to be returned.
13 Great printer dock! More on cost-per-print...
We have been using this dock CONSTANTLY since our baby was born...and it has worked perfectly every time, producing excellent photos! I use the EasyShare DX6440 camera with it.

A few things about the cost-per-print issue. If you are paying 60-62 cents per print, you are not looking hard enough for a good price. I've found deals that knock the price down to 50 cents per print or better.

Also...the dock and the included software make it very easy to place 2 or 4 different pictures on one 4x6 piece of paper. This is handy if you want to, for example, send pictures of your baby to family/friends, and show your baby in different poses without using up as much paper.

And finally...the convenience is well worth the cost. I love having a print in my hands a couple of minutes after taking the picture. The dock is VERY portable as well...just need a nearby outlet. I was printing pictures in the hospital right after the baby was born! Definitely worth the extra cost, in my opinion.

A first-class printer all the way!

14 The Best
I have 3 digital cameras and usually take pictures and then never really develop or look at them. This printer is in a class by itself. Nothing compares. I buy Sony everything, but not this baby. The camera and the printer are worth the price of admission. Just took the kids to Disneyworld, and I already have photo-lab quality pictures in my Disney scrapbook and the kids helped out. What a cool thing. Do not even think of anything else. I did, and nothing compares.
15 An Amateur's New Best Friend!
This printer dock is amazing! I had it up and running in about 5 minutes and printed my first picture the next minute. It is very user friendly and not complicated at all. The quality of the photos is definitely comparable to professional developing. I don't see any differences. The picture prints in 4 passes--first yellow, then magenta, followed by cyan (blue), and finishes with a clear coat for lamination and protection purposes. The printer dock comes with a starter pack to print 10 pictures. After that, you buy a kit with a cartridge that prints exactly 40 pictures. No need to worry about buying paper and ink at separate times! This printer dock is compatible with Kodak CX and DX 6000 cameras and also the Kodak LS600 series. If you own a compatible camera, I highly recommend buying this printer dock, too!!! No need to be experienced in the digital world!
16 A must-have for the scrapbook fanatic
This printer is great! The photos are very high-quality. It is NOT an inkjet printer. I am a scrapbooker and love the fact that I can print out archival quality photos from home --instantly~!

You do not need to have a Kodak Easyshare camera to use this printer (even though I have one and love it). You can just use it as a printer by itself.

17 This is an Awesome Printer!!
I cannot say enough great things about this printer, it is absolutely incredible. I went to Target specifically to purchase this printer and was talked into another one by the guy who worked there - boy did I regret that! I got the other printer home and hooked it up and HATED it (I won't say the brand). I knew right away that I should go with my instinct and buy the printer I had planned on, and really regretted listening to him. Well, the next day I went and got the Kodak printer for my DX6340 and am so glad I did!! It hooks up soooo easily, charges my batteries, allows you to scroll through your pictures and pick and choose what you want, it is amazing, even my husband thought it was cool (he was not impressed with the other one). If you own a Kodak camera GET THIS PRINTER!! It was made for the Kodak and prints out Kodak quality pictures effortlessly. It is a little more expensive then some of the other ones, and I have yet to find it on sale, but man is it worth it! Kodak User in Texas
18 Oh My God. Enough said.
This has to be one of man's greatest creations next to the camera itself. I own a Kodak CX6330 digital camera, and had never even heard of this printer until last week when I bought it. (Yes I've only had my camera for a week!) I read about this printer dock actually on accident when I was surfing Amazon.com for good rechargeable batteries to use. I ran across the dock, read about it, saw the reviews and decided that there was no way this thing actually prints flawless pictures. I decided I had to see it for myself. So I went to a local Staples that had one sitting out on display for example use and WOW... this thing is no joke. Photolab quality photos in a minute and a half. I was sold on the first picture this little baby printed out for me. The only word I could think of at the time was "Incredible".
Like most people have said, it is in fact expensive to use... but I said it once and I'll say it again, I'll PAY the extra 30 cents a print to be able to print the photos at home, on demand, any time of day or night, and print only the ones I want. The convenience and the quality you recieve for the price of this printer are worth far more then how much you're paying per print. This is truly a necessity for any avid photographer, or anyone that loves to take pictures. It is, in a word, Incredible.
19 Seeing it work, is the key!!!
Go to CircuitCity, Bestbuy, Office Depot, or any store and see the demo.. I will bet you will buy this. It's that good. Awlsome pictures. Easy to use.
20 Great Product! Let's talk about price...
I just got this camera and it's so wonderful! I love to take pictures, and since I am away from family and friends, it makes it a snap to keep in touch.
A lot of discussion has been made about price per photo, but honestly I spend about $15 to get one of those new Picture CD's and Prints for just 1 roll of film! Then most of the pictures I didn't even want prints of! So, in the long run the price per pic may be higher, but you decide which ones you want to print-- and THAT is invaluable.
21 Great quality, super convenient, and expensive to use
This little printer spits out borderless 4x6 photos that are completely indistinguishable from those you would get from a photo lab. However, each 4x6 print costs, according to my calculations, just over 62 cents--and that's just for consumables (paper and cartridges) and does not factor in the price of the unit itself. Think about that before you buy it. My wife can't live without this thing because of how nice it is to have great looking photos printed on demand. I'm not so sure the convenience justifies the price.
22 Awsome Dock!!!
I have the Kodak CX6330. It ROCKS..... The dock works like a charm. This printer is so small you could fit it in your backpack!! This rocks. The prints look like they came from the photo place!! Are albums are filling up!! Overall great price and product!
23 Excellent Instant Pictures
If you want excellent INSTANT pictures, get this printer dock.
It is great for parties and traveling. You can share your pictures with families and friends. I recommend using the highest pixel resolution. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER to take excellent pictures. If you have a new born, this printer dock and Kodak's 6490 camera is a must. You really do get professional printed pictures like you would from any drug store or 1 hour photo developer WITHOUT THE WAIT!
24 great quality prints, but per print cost is higher
the Kodak EasyShare 6000 printer dock is a one-stop shop for all CX/DX 6000 and LS 600 series cameras. it charges the camera's NiMH battery pack, connects via USB to the computer for downloading data, connects to a TV for slideshows, plus it's a high quality 4x6-inch borderless dye transfer printer.

this printer dock can be used with or without a computer and it is small, lightweight, and very portable. it is very easy to use - simply place your compatible camera on the dock, select a picture (or group of pictures) using the camera's LCD, and press the "PRINT" button. wait about 90 seconds and you have a borderless high quality 4x6 print! you can select to print one picture, a group of selected images, or all the pictures in your camera's memory. you can also print an index sheet.

this is a dye transfer printer, not an inkjet, and according to KODAK, print quality will be lab-quality. this is just one opinion, but i cannot tell the difference between a print from the easyshare printer dock 6000 and one from a photo service like ofoto so i agree with KODAK's claim.

so is this a good buy? you'll have to answer that question for yourself. image quality is good enough that it becomes a non-issue so it all boils down to cost/value. the cost of entry obviously is the cost of this printer dock. ongoing, prints made with this product will run you about sixty cents (or about twenty-five percent higher than what ofoto charges). in return for your investment and higher printing cost, you don't have to bother uploading files to photo services or bring your flash memory to your local photo shop. for this convenience (and instant gratification), i think this is a great buy.

i hope this helps you with your buying decision. peace.

25 Would rather have negative 5 stars!
Purchased CX6330 camera and printer dock. Couldn't get it to dock, so called Kodak Company. They finally suggested we take it to local store to explain how to get it to dock. Took to the store and there was something wrong in way printer dock was manufacured. Having to return it for refund. Camera takes excellent pictures.
26 Worth every penny (and that's a lot of pennies!)
My husband and I just picked up the Kodak Easy Share 6340 camera and really enjoyed its ease of use to send photos via email. I found this printer dock and was really interested in it, but was leery about the quality of the photos. We went to a store nearby where they had sample paper available with the camera. I was really amazed at the qualiy- they are most definitely comparable to store-developed photos. So we picked this up and brought it home.
Setup is a breeze. I only had to take a peripheral look at the setup instructions, and it was up and ready to print within 5 minutes. I just snapped the camera into the dock and it automatically selected the first available photo and asked if I wanted to print it. I scrolled through until I found the photo I wanted and pressed the "print" button.
The printer feeds the first page through and prints one color on the page at a time: first yellows, then reds, and finally blues. Once it has been fed through those three times, the paper goes back into the printer; I assume this is to finish the surface or something. Tear off the extra paper with the perforated edges and you have a photo-store quality photo.
This is a rather expensive item, but my husband and I are HORRIBLE about getting film developed. Having a 2-year-old daughter, we are not exactly winning any points in the family's eyes since we have very few photos available to show or give to anyone. Now we can just print the photos we like to keep or give to friends and family.
What is helpful about this printer as opposed to using the photo setting of a standard printer are two factors: it's small and easy to take on a trip if need be, and the paper comes with a cartridge. When you have used up all the paper, the cartridge is empty too; no more printing and having the ink give out halfway through your project.
All in all, an excellent product, especially if you are like me and seem to be unable to find your way to a photo developing place!
27 Good quality, and very good for the novice, but pricy
My father decided he needed a digital camera. So, we needed to decide what to buy. We picked the Kodak 6340 and this docking station.

Why? My father computer abilities are AOL and not much more, so I wanted him to buy something simple and easy to use. I had shown him how to print pictures on his HP printer, but that hasn't really worked out.

For printing:
When you plug the camera into the docking station, it automatically turns on the LCD on the camera. From the LCD, you can select using button on the docking station which photos you want to print and then you just hit the print button. You can print individual pictures or index prints of everything loaded on the camera. You can also print from Kodak's EasyShare software. No configuration other than picking the pictures and printer is required.

Loading the paper is just like loading a photocopier. You pull out a tray, and place the photopaper right in. Again very easy to use. However, you need special paper for this printer. It will not use non-Kodak photopaper. The photopaper is sold with the ink. Paper/ink for 40 photos run $25. Very expensive!!! You can however print your photos with no computer, so it might also make sense for those want to print the camera with them and print photos while traveling.

Photo quality seems excellent. I recently bought a Canon i950 and this little printer seems to do just as well, if not better.

For syncing your pictures to the computer
The docking station with Kodak software is really easy to use. 1 button syncs your pictures/video automatically to the computer.

It also charger your camera. A rechargeable Ni-MH battery is included and fits the 6340 camera or other Kodak cameras compatible with the docking station.

So, very easy to use, but very expensive. I'd say its great novice computer/electronic users, but for others there are many cheaper and better alternatives.
