Koss 4.5 Car Pack / Cigarette Lighter Adapter and Cassette Adapter

1 Works Perfectly
I have a RioVolt SP90 MP3 CD player that I use in the car a lot. Before buying that, I had another portable CD player that I used in the car. When I got the Rio, I found that while my cassette adapter worked, my cigarette-lighter adapter did not.

I ordered this from Amazon and it works as advertised. Better still, it has DRAMATICALLY improved the sound of my player in the car. With my old cassette adapter, the volume was very low (even with the player turned all the way up) and the bass/treble was messed up, so I had to make all sorts of adjustments whenever switching between my Rio player and the car radio. Even with all that it never sounded right. With the Koss cassette adapter, I actually had to turn the volume down on the player to match the radio volume, but now that I've done that I just plug it in and go (no more messing with all the settings) and it sounds great.

I think the people complaining here that this is a piece of junk because the power adapter didn't fit their player are misguided. If Amazon recommended this as an accessory for your player and the plug does not fit, then you should let Amazon customer support know they are making an erroneous recommendation. Most of the low ratings on here have nothing to do with the quality of the product when used with compatible players. For my RioVolt SP90, it has met and surpassed my expectations.

2 Do NOT buy!
This was listed under the accessories for our CD Player, but guess what - the cigarette lighter adapter didn't fit into that CD Player or any other in the house.
3 dont buy this
unless you have batteries up the wazzoo dont buy this cuz the cigarette lighter adapter doesnt fit into any cd player ive seen. the other part works ok tho.
4 Works great with the Riovolt SP250
This is a pretty simple set of components. You get a cassette tape-like-thing with a cable attached and a lighter attachment with a cable as well.

SEEM VERY FRAGILE
I have no point of comparison, so my opinion is not relative, but these components seem very fragile. With fairly rigid cables, I'm concerned at some point the cables will break away from the connectors, rendering these components useless.

TOO MANY SMALL WIRES
Yes there is only two wires, but with one coming out of the cassette player and one from the lighter, I have two tangled long fragile cords that go to my CD player. You end up with a tangled mess to pick up each time you use this player. I don't feel comfortable leaving it out, with teenagers hopping in and out of the vehicle with various sports bags, begging to be tangled in this set of wires. However, based on other car kits I've seen this is common. Here's where some heavier less fragile more flexible wires would be nice. Or maybe some kind of retraction device.

GOOD VALUE COMPARED TO RIOVOLT'S SITE'S KIT
Prior to purchasing this kit I went to RioVolt's site to see if they had a better deal. Their kit cost the same, however it seemed to only include the cassette attachment and not the lighter-power attachment. This one here is definitely a better deal.

It would be nice if someone designed a car kit that had more flexible, more durable wires with a storage case. I would be willing to pay twice as much.

5 If you have a RIOvolt... get this!
The power adaptor works with all riovolts (4.5 volt DC)The tape is excelent quality also. Most tapes alone, or adaptors alone cost 20$ plus.. this way u get both for 1/2 the price!
6 what does this unit work with?
We own four portable CD players in our household and this works with NONE of them, even though (it was) listed it as an accessory for the AIWA portable CD player, which we bought with the Koss 4.5.

Why would anyone buy a car adaptor if the odds were it didn't work with their CD player? (...)

7 Probably good, but...
...power adapter did not work with either my Sony or my Panasonic portables, so be advised! Others seem to have had luck with other brands.
8 Perfect for the RioVolt CD/MP3 player
I bought the RioVolt player which unfortunately doesn't come with a car kit. But from the picture of this item on the web page, it looked like the electrical specs of the DC adapter were the same as RioVolt's AC adapter. It worked, and the plug size matches too, so I'm a happy camper. Also the cassette adapter's sound quality is much better than the one I tried from Radio Shack.
9 Semi-Great Product
I have one of these ... and it works great. It is the perfect gift for any music fan without alot of money!
