1 An OK player that has some flaws...
I bought this player a long time ago; it served me well but there were a few noticable flaws. Cheap headphones broke rather too soon. The most frastrating, however, is trying to forward the tracks (FF button activates programming mode) and turn the player off without taking the CD out (double cliking the stop button turns the player off about one it ten attempts). The batteries also are used up rather quickly. If you use it sparingly, it will do, but if you are a hardcore music lover - settle for something more expensive.
2 Terrible
Wow, I see since I bought this unit there have been lots of people with the same troubles I had. I will simply add to the chorus of voices who have said:
1) Eats batteries like mad.
2) Within about a month of buying the unit the buttons stopped working properly. The reverse button advanced tracks, stop would often switch modes, etc. ABSOLUTELY FRUSTRATING
3) The anti-skip protection did not work very well. I got nothign like 40 seconds out of the skip protection and this is just holding the unit flat while walking at a moderate pace.
I was extremely dissapointed with this player. Mine finally just stoppped working one day...
3 Cool looks, doesnt work tho...
I bought this same CD player a couple of years ago but I found out that was a big mistake. It started out working really well, and i thought all the negative reviews were wrong. Then after about a week the headphones just snapped as i went to put them on... That's not too big a deal cuz I had others, but about a week later all the buttons got messed up. For example the FF RW buttons switched jobs and so did others. It was really confusing and made it impossible to do anything other than just let the CD play, altho it somehow got put in a random order and the thing to stop that broke. A couple days later, the thing just quit. I tried new batteries but they didnt help. I never dropped it or anything... If u can cough up 15 more dollars buy the cool Cd, CD-R, CD-RW, mp3 thing the have on the site.
4 Horrible
the buttons on this stopped working, the antiskip was very bad, hardly worked at all, it drained my batteries and was al together the worst discman i ever bought- including the one i bought 10 years ago!
way to set cd players back in technology koss!
5 POS
Its a POS! It broke the 1st week I had it then I returned it and the 2nd one the headphones broke and you can only hear out of one side. I put a new pair on it and it worked but now you can't hear anything! Ive only had it about a year!
6 Great . . . for the short time it lasted
When I first bought this CD player, it was great. The sound and headphones were excellent and it was really cool looking. It was great for a few months, then it started to just turn off in the middle of playing a CD. To get it to work again, I had to hit it really hard, cause all the buttons stopped working! So as you can see this CD player is not worth the money. If you want a CD player that lasts a few months, this is the one for you. If you want a quality CD player, go with a Panasonic or a Sony.
7 Great CD Player! Awesome looks!
This is the first CD player I've ever had and I love it!
It has great sound with dynamic boost base. It does skip once in a while, but not very much. If you turn the volume all the way up without base on you can hear clearly. Although it's not very clear if you have max volume with base on. I've only had it for a few days but overall I think it's a great CD player and if you want a CD player with awesome looks and colors, get this one!!
8 Battery Eater
This CD player eats batteries faster than I can stuff pork rinds into my mouth with both hands. After the first five or six cds it also started skipping every time it was jostled. But hey...it's purple. And that's worth a couple of stars.
9 Cool, but my sister took control of it
Whenever I took my CD player around, many people were like "Cool CD player! Where'd You get it?" Too bad my sister took over it and uses it in her Mustang (a.k.a. "The Stang")
10 Good player!!!
I haven't had a single problem with this player yet. The anti-shock works great. The sound is great, but the volume maximum could be louder. Therefore I give it 4 stars. Definitely worth the price!!!
11 Fantastic CD player
It's just a shame the headphones broke after 8 days. Didn't expect much more though. Of course, headphones are not covered in the guarantee.
12 missing instructions
I enjoy the koss cd very much. How do I get an owners manual or can you send the page to my address. Thanx
Ev.
13 I bought, it broke, I bought a new one, it works!
I bought this cd player, thanks to the loss of my old one that didn't survive the crash of my sister dropping it on the tile floor-It was a koss Cdp1700. Now,not having a cd player, I bought this one grade up cdplayer. The second I opened it, it decided to die out. The play button would not work, and when it did work, the stop button wouldn't work. So I returned this one to amazon.com and got a new one, and it was perfect, and I loved it. It takes guts to by this cd player, thats for sure!
14 Personal CD player (Koss CDP1740A) By Sanjay Schrapel
This is the best CD player I have used. Before I bought this, I had a Nichei CD player with no anti-shock and very flimsy construction (I returned it for a full refund...
This is an excellent little player with all the features I like (the random feature is my favourite.) It gives crystal clear sound, feels very well constructed and comes in a wicked blue-green transparent colour. My minor quibbles are:
1. It eats batteries like mad (2 Energizers in 3 hours.)
2. The headphones that come with it are the most flimsy ever (although they give outstanding sound quality)
3. It was relatively expensive
4. The Anti Shock gets emptied every time you pause (but I like the anti-shock meter on the LCD)
These quibbles are what caused me to give this product 4 stars instead of 5, but for the price, I at least got a 12-month warranty (not 3 months like you Americans.)
I must comment on the Anti shock, it is excellent, when on the CD player doesn't miss a beat (When it is off though, it skips like crazy.)
Overall, an outstanding and excellent CD player. I would strongly recommend it to anyone. I haven't had it for long, though, so I will just have to wait and see how long it lasts.
Thanks for reading this review; I hope it helps you with your purchase.
15 Pretty but lame
This unit performs well while it lasts, but mine only lasted a few months when using with care. I do not jog. The unit stayed in my car the whole time. It just stopped working.
16 Decent
seems to be very sensitive to tiny nicks or scratches on cds. My cds which play perfectly fine in my home stereo or car skip constantly, making it a little annoying. In general, though, a good player.
17 For the price, it's good, but that's about it.
Pro: -The skip protection is VERY good. 40 seconds and it holds up very well. -The button layout looks funny, but is very functional. -Seeing the CD spin through the plastic is very cool. -LCD layout is medium size, functional, and easily viewed.
Con: -Feels cheap. Cheap plastic, very cheap headphones. -Skip protection buffer gets emptied when you pause, fast forward, or rewind. -Sound quality is very bland lacking dynamics.
Conclusion: If you want a CD player that looks cool, functions well, has very good skip protection, is cheaply made, and don't care about sound quality, then this is the one to get.
Koss used to be halfway good, but they are going downhill. (BTW, I returned this one and bought a Sony)
18 Very Dissapointed
I bought this CD player for its great price, excellent looks, and its numerous features. I read poor reviews, and dismissed them as rare occurences. I was soooo wrong...When it arrived, it would play for a little while, and then suddenly turn off. Then, the buttons stopped working. I had [...] replace it, and guess what? AFTER 2 WEEKS, THE SECOND ONE BEGAN TO HAVE PROBLEMS TOO! The buttons are all messed up--the stop button skips the track and the skip buttons do random things, and because of this it's almost impossible to turn off. The return period had expired, but it was still covered by Koss Electronics' 90 day warranty. However, I needed a copy of the invoice, AND [...]. So now I'm stuck with it, at least it can just play. The good thing, though, is that this CD player has EXCELLENT sound, and probably the best I have ever heard. I also like the design.
19 Not thrilled with it
I bought this CD player for my daughter for her birthday. Within the first week the headphones broke and I had to crazy glue it back together!!!! Even so, she still uses it all the time. The sound is good for the price, and it looks cool!!!! That's whats important when you're twelve!!!!!!!
20 ..., nice, troublesome
I chose this CD player because of its great prize but.. It can not be stopped playing now! A STOP button thinks it is "move back" and FF button works as "modes". More, it eat batteries quickly, eg Philips LongLife in 2 hours. And don't try jogging with it.. Nevertheless, its design is so cool.
21 fun...while it lasted
Admittedly, I only bought this player because it was purple, but I am still sorely dissapointed in it's performance. I started having minor problems with it after about six months of moderate use. The sound quality has been degrading steadily, and as of today, the player is completely unusable. It skips every couple of seconds, even with a new disc on a flat, still surface. The anti-skip function actually makes it worse! It has been less than a year since the date of purchase.
Still, it is awfully cute. And for a few weeks there, I was reccomending it to everyone. If you aren't in it for the long haul, go ahead and buy this. If you want something more durable, keep shopping.
22 Worked great until...
After reading god knows how many reviews, I decided on this one. Got it promptly when Amazon/UPS said I would, opened it, played it, purposly droped in on the box it was shipped in, and kept on playin' without a skip!! But while just listening to it in the garage it just quit, nothing, changed the batteries, nothing, used the adaptor...nothing. I'm hoping when I return it for a replacement that it won't quit on me again!!
23 poor quality cd player
Used this item in my car (briefly). It stopped working after falling from my seat to the floor. I would recommend a more robust cd player, especially if you plan on travelling with it.
24 Manufacturing Defect
I purchased this cd player and when I received it I had to send it back to Koss for repair. It would play for about a minute and a half and then just shut down.
Several years ago this also happened with a pair of Koss headphones I bought.
I am curious to see how long this repair process will take.
Seems like Koss needs to improve their quality control.
I do think I would have liked this product if it had worked.
25 Ok unless you want it over 6 months
I got this cd player for my birthday and i loved it. it looked really cool. i put my cd in and clicked on the anti skip button and it was pretty good. it skipped a little bit but not enough to be disappointed in. i did a lot of things with this cd player. i mowed with it and took it every where i went. But the first problem was that it ate up the batteries pretty quick. so if i wanted to take it somewhere i would have to take extra batteries. and also it didnt tell you how much power is left in my batteries until they totally run out. also when i mowed it would constantly skip and would really get annoying. and then after about 6 months of having it, it just stopped working. i was very mad. we had to throw it away. so if you enjoy buying a new cd player every 6 months you should get this one.

27 Easy and fun to use
I bought this cd player about 8 months ago, and I've never looked back. Great sound, easy to use. It's pretty good at not skipping even when the anti-skip is turned off. Sure I've dropped it a few times, accidentally - no problems caused by that at all. The only problem I have with it is that lately when I hit the button to try to get to the next track, instead of advancing, each press of the button cycles through the modes! I figure it's because the "mode" button is right next to it, and I use it A LOT. However, I plan to replace it with the same CD player because I love it so! If you're going to buy a CD player - make it this one!
28 not worth the trouble
I was pleased with this Koss cd player until it inexplicably stopped working. I was even pleased with the replacement I got from Target when the first one broke. After the second one inexplicably stopped working, Koss offered to replace it for a fee which was more than what I paid for it, and shipping was on me. Don't waste your time or money on such a crappy disc player, get a decent one.
29 An UNBIASED, TRUTHFUL review -- must read!!
I ordered this player, read other customer reviews (true, I should have done those first), and became scared. I then waited anxiously for it to arrive, dreading the moment I would have to send it back because a) it wouldn't work, b) it ruined some CDs, c) the headphones snapped, d) all of these. Well, I received it a couple days ago, and I must say, I am VERY pleased. Read on ...
1) The sound is one of the most crisp, most clear of all the discmans I've owned. (And I've had two Sonys and a Memorex.) Considering the price, the sound is excellent!
2) True, the plastic headphones are brittle and flimsy, but they haven't cracked, and it's not as though they're overly strained just sitting on my head.
3) I've played both commercial CDs and my own CD-Rs in it, and they did just that ... played. No problem at all. Considering the quantity of CD-Rs I own (it's up in the triple digits), I wouldn't keep it if I thought it'd ruin them.
4) This little monster's main fault is that it gobbles up batteries. So far, Energizer e-squared AA's have worked the best, around 3+ hours.
5) The door does not easily snap off (I don't know how one would get it off except to pull it backwards manually). Nor does it open while playing CDs; it's just as sturdy as any other.
Over all, considering the price, this is a GREAT buy. The green Koss is a safe, sound buy, unless you plan on toying with the headphones or pulling at the door while listening to a CD. It's the blue Koss that has so many flaws. (Look at its customer reviews; I wrote one about it, too.)
If you really want a discman that you can take jogging and that will last you for years to come, buy a Sony. Both of mine have yet to break down (one is at least 10 years old), but I thought this little one would be nice for summer. This green Koss, however, is an excellent, durable buy, and it won't put a hole in your pocket. (And it's always returnable if you have serious problems with it ...)
30 GOOD PRICE...GOOD SOUND...GOOD LOOKING...
This is an excellent CD player for the money. It is a trim, good looking, light weight unit with very decent sound quality and easy access controls. The bass boost is great and an excellent enhancement feature. The sound quality is pure and clear. The unit is easy to open, and the CD pops in and out effortlessly. The headphones are comfortable, and the anti-skip mechanism works like a dream. While the unit does lack a resume feature, at this price that should not be a deal breaker.
I know that some reviewers have complained about battery drainage, but I play it for days on end on battery power and have not had that problem. In fact, I have had no trouble with this CD player. I absolutely love it!
31 Mmmmmmmmmmm! Batteries
This was the first portable cd player that I bought and waspleased with it for the first 3 hours. I bought this for ($) .... The price was the reason that I bought it. I read the reviews on Amazon.com and thought I was aware of all the downfalls. The sound output could have been louder for my tastes. The lack of a resume after stopping it didn't concern me. The shock protection worked well. In a car on my lap it didn't skip with anti-skip off. It took a good tap on the cover(anti-skip off) to make it skip. After a skip sometimes it took a little long to start playing music again. After around three hours of play I had to replace the batteries. I admit that I was using cheap batteries but even the best batteries wouldn't last that much longer I assume. I tested the batteries after it wouldn't use them and they were 3/4 full! I tried using some rechargables that I have but they only hold a 75% charge now so they never even played a song. So less then a week later I returned it for a full refund. After a couple of days and a little more research I just bought a Sony D-EJ611 G-Protection. I ended up spending twice as much money as I planned on but I finally have a portable cd player.
To sum up my experience, you get what you pay for. If you just planned on using the supplied AC adapter it wouldn't be of concern. Save your money and get something that won't bankrupt you in batteries.
32 Started off good......
I bought this unit about 6 months ago and was very pleased with it when I first received it. I was taken in by the pretty cool case and went for it. At this point, this is the status:
1) The switch membrane is total .... The rewind button functions as the fast forward button and there is no way to go backwards within a song. This is a clear mechanical problem.
2) The anti-skip mechanism works poorly. Sure, it doesn't stop dead when your car hits a bump, but it sure doesn't pick back up where the song should be. It winds up skipping a groove or two (a couple of tenth's of a second) and is really annoying. I have to place it on a towel as an extra shock absorber.
3) Very sensitive to dust or smudges. Very picky with CDRs - sometimes it likes them, sometimes it doesn't. This is on the SAME disk across different days.
Bottom line - I wish I would've spent an extra 30-40 bucks and bought a better piece of equipment. I rate the sound an 8 out of 10 (but not through the included headphones), but the mechanics rate a disappointing 3 out of 10. You get what you pay for - SPEND A LITTLE MORE!
33 don't buy it
Bought it, used it, it stopped, exchanged it, it stopped also. I give up and am buying something else.
34 This player is a JOKE!!!
I bought this player to take on my 5-mile a day walks. On the first day, the headset broke because the plastic is so cheap. It constantly skips and is ruining all the CD's I use in it. The batteries bearly last two walks, for some reason, they are really drained by the player. Overall, I bought this player in December and am throwing it out in Mid February, along with two of my favorite CD's. Not a great statement about the quality for the price. Do yourself a favor and trust me on this one!
35 Great sound at a cheap price!
I bought this for my fiancee back in October and it rocks. The sound is fantastic! For once the headphones on a low-priced player equal the output of the player. I couldn't be more pleased. Great bass and full sound. My fiancee tells me she constantly gets compliments on the look of the player as well. ...[You] can't beat the price. If you don't care about listening to the radio or other unnecessary extras, then this is the CD player for you.
I don't want to argue with the guy who gave the player to his kid who then dropped it -- I'm sure it's not the most durable thing in the world -- but who gives a CD player to a five and a half year old?
Word to the wise, always put the anti-skip on.
36 A really good CD player
This CD player replaced my Discman, and its simply great. From the ice-blue case (pretty good after all those gray CD players) to its light weight and nice feel, this is a great portable player for all those long outings and trips. Only problem, as some others have mentioned- no resume button. But its good enough without, so I would recommend it to anybody.
37 Don't Buy This Product...Check the Bad Reviews!!
I bought this CD player for my 8 year old daughter for Christmas and now after a months use, it no longer plays music! The Koss website does not have any support for their CD products and so any thought of returning this product is forgotten. I read all the great reviews for this product here and decided to purchase the CD player, but I am urging you not to buy it. The bad reviews are very valid!
38 Best CD Player EVER
I don't know what that guy was thinking...getting his five-year-old son a cd player?! The thing broke! Not because of Koss! Anyway, it's the best cd player! (Though I don't have purple. The green is cool.) I've never had a problem with mine, and it's been three months. Good sound, not scratchy at all and it has a 40-second anti-skip function! Great for traveling. So what the hell was that guy saying? --Anyway, it's the best CD player ever...it's a gem not to be used by little kids! Just get them casette players in the future...!
39 The Christmas present that lasted a week
I bought this for our son 5 1/2. He loves the color purple and I was looking for a simple player. I got it - he loved the color and it was nice and simple. Here's the but! He dropped it (one week after getting it )the top broke. Lots of tears. Called Koss Customer Service to find out that not only would they not service it, but they wanted me to mail it back with all accessories along with a check for fourty dollars. They would then send a new one! I said, "Can't I just get a new player? I don't need the accessories. Since that was full price why do I have to bother mailing it back?" "We are not a retail chain!" was the answer that I got. I will not be buying any new Koss product, if this is there idea of customer service.
40 KOSS is a terrible CD player
KOSS is a good bargain if their products actually worked over the long haul. BUT THEY DON'T! Trust me, or you will pay with a couple of 20's and your sanity. I am not the only one, my cousin purchased the same KOSS CD player and one month later he threw it off a 5 story apartment building balcony. It's a piece of crap.
41 It has Style, It has Anti-Skip, Its Potrable, It sounds good
I JUST got this for Christmas and I love it! It has a good sound, and the Anti-skip actually works unlike OTHER products! It also is in cool- icy colors wich is basically "in"! Trust me, your kid will love it! If not for Christmas, Birthday, Chanuka, just because, a good job, or to show off to he/her friends!:)
42 Good
This is a very good cd player. The two drawbacks are it uses a lot of batteries and is hard to turn off. There is no power swich and to turn it off, one must continually press the "stop" button. Other than that, it's grrrreat.
43 Don't be fooled by these reviews like I did...
this is a TERRIBLE discman. Lasted me about a month, then the anti-skip started dying, now after owning it for only a month and a half - it doesn't even play cds. and i can't return it... im out $50
44 A lot for a little!
If you're bummed out be-Koss you couldn't buy the blue CD player, go for the purple or the green! The sound quality is worth 3 times the price, and the anti-skip really works. This is one of the best purchases I've made. Enjoy!
45 Very good buy, although...
Hello, thanks for reading this. I am reviewing the Koss CDP1740A Blue Portable CD Player. I just got this today, and at first glance it looked like I got a wonderful buy. I brought it home from the post office, stuck my cd in and also my batteries, closed the cd lid, hit play button and nothing happend...I put the batteries in as the diagram showed, I hit play like the instructions showed...what happend? Maybe I had bad batteries. So I inserted the DC power, it worked fine. Ok so it is the batteries I thought, so I put a differant brand in, hmmm, it still did not work. OK so time to do some thinking, I put the batteries in backwords to what the diagram showed, hey it`s working! So the circuitry was backwords, no big deal. Other wise it`s a GREAT cd player, the blue color is awsome. I say that you buy this, but not right away look around a little more and you will see that this is the best one for the price but most importantly the quality! Thank you again for reading this and I hope that you make the right decision in buying this great cd player. Thank`s Amazon.com!
46 Maybe if it would have worked I would have liked it
I was on a road trip pulling out my new portable CD player for the first time. I slipped in a Dave Matthews Cd, listened to the first thirty seconds, and suddenly the music stopped. It wasn't a problem with the earphones (even though you must know that the earphones were to most uncomfortable earphones I've ever worn), it was something within the player. And now I don't even know if I can return it for a new one. It really made me mad. I would suggest buying your electronic equiptment from a store, then if you have a questions or a problem, you can easily talk to someone about an alternative
47 nice
this is thing is nice. you gotta buy it
48 Needs Quality Control
From reading the other reviews, I see that the two unreliable points are the anti-skip and the control buttons. In my case, the anti-skip works fine, but the control buttons failed after a few months. Now, sometimes they work, and sometimes not. If I had bought it at a local store, I'd be returning it.
The unit also has a crude look to it, not as refined in appearance as the Sonys, for instance. As soon as I opened the box, I was disappointed with the appearance, just not quite up to modern standards.
49 Good, but not great
I bought this CD player today, and I really liked the color and design. It also sounded great, but the only thing I didn't like was the headphones- they were flimsy. I like to have comfortable, well-fitting headphones when I listen to my music. Otherwise they were fine and also looked cool and were ice-blue that matched the player. This portable CD player is great for the price, but I give it a 3 because I am disappointed with the headphones.
50 It doesn't get better than this!
Well, I purchased this cd player about a month ago. It's the best player I've ever heard. The headphones deliver the most crisp and clear sound I've ever heard. The buttons are easy to use and it absolutely WONT skip. The design is awesome. I was listening to it on the subway and this total stranger came up and started asking me all these questions about it because he thought it was so cool looking! It's a little flimsy, if you push the top up hard it will snap off, but it won't do that when its closed because it has a open switch. The other drawback is that it eats up batteries like crazy. I went through 8 batteries in 2 weeks! But the adapter is helpful and it's all worth it! ...If you want a great cd player at an unbeatable price, you've found it!
51 Niles
I have prior expeirience with several products. I started with a sony cd player 5 years ago that had no skip protection. i went to aiwa shortly later that had none either. after a while i stumpled upon a cd player with 10 sec skip protect. the cd player worked great, and skip protection protected for a max of about 6 seconds. and this was another sony! this koss cdplayer, which i bought a few weeks ago, has shock protection that lasts up to 30 seconds, and even is somewhat shock proof without the skip proof on. i dont know what these people are talking about, this cd player looks great, sounds great (awesome bass!) and the shock protection works better than even a 100 dollar sony i bought earlier! i recommend this for anyone who wants to get great sound for less money.
52 Great sound and surprisingly sturdy
Because of the low price, I was worried that this portable CD player would break soon after purchase, or the sound would be terrible, or it would eat batteries ... something had to be wrong with it at that price, I thought. But after using it for a month I can say with confidence that it is a fine CD player -- much better than the Sony I had before, which cost three times as much. The Koss CD player spent an entire day with a six-year-old girl who dropped it repeatedly, and it emerged unscathed. I recently sent it sailing off my kitchen table to crash into my hardwood floor, and again it was completely fine. Great sound, very sturdy and you can't beat the price.
53 The best CD player out there
This CD player rox! It:
* Will not skip-has 40 sec. anti-skip plus advanced shock protection
*Comes with unbeatable headphones-they are the most crisp and clear-sounding headphones around-even better than some Sony headphones
*Has alot of features, such as hold, pause, play, stop, track-finder, program, mode, repeat, and more.
*Looks awesome
*is priced at a great price for such a good discman
Bad things? There isn't a one! If your looking for an awesome discman at an unbeatable price, you've found it-it's right here!
54 KOSS CDP1740G Purple CD Player a great deal, looks cool
Nice sounding, nice looking, and definitely a great deal at this price. I can't believe it has the 40 sec anti-skip at this price. And these are hard to come by in local stores as they sell out super fast. Great for a gift too. If the other colors ever become available soon I will buy another one for myself this time (I need different colors so I know which one is mine and which is my son's!) I was actually looking for a blue one at first but purple looks good too) And a suggestion - buy some CDs here at the same time as it works out to an even better deal because of the shipping.
55 Awesome Player
This CD player is great. The forty second anti-skip works perfectly. I use it when I go bike riding and to this day i have never had it skip. Even when the anti-skip is off the skiping is still very low. I bought 4 NiMh rechargable batteries and a charger. I just use a pair and charger the other so when the first two run out I just pop in the other two. It has saved me alot of money doing so. I highly recommend this CD player.
56 excelent
This is a great CD Player for teh price, i don't know what these people are talking about, the shock protection works very well. and the earphones are also great. The Cd player is not expensive which makes it even more better.
57 Excelent Player
This player is a wonderful purchase, with outstanding features. It has an indicator to let you know when your battery is getting low. Also the anti skit feature is wonderful, now the player never skips. It also has a hold button, so if you have an annoying sibling that thinks it is funny to change your song or stop the payer, they cant do it. all and all it is a great buy
58 great player awesome price
this cd player is great! 40 second anti-skip,ac adapter and headphones makes it a great buy for its price. it also only runs on two AA batteries that makes it very economical. And to top this sweet deal off it has RAD colors
59 great cd player
its a great cd player and i love it and i really like the colors and i was very suprised at how well it worked for such a low price, i was astounded. i think the one thing that i didnt like was the colors , i thought they were kind of girly but that was only on a few i looked at. the one i got i liked the headphones are nice quality also for your ultimate listening enjoyment .
60 K oss cd player
I think this cd player was great; even though I'm 10 years old, I can have an opinion. When I first got it my mom and I went for a test drive in our car. It only skipped once on the biggest bump, but besides that, it was awesome! Its bass boost has a super quality and has all the gadgets you can think of in a CD player. I highly recommended this product. It is better than my brother's SONY and his cost more! :)
61 Pretty Good
I just got this CD player today and I must say, it's prettygood. The 40 sec Anti-Shock works like a charm. The features(Hold,20 track Programable, etc.) are common for most CD players but there one thing going in this one's favor, it's relatively cheap...not that bad of a deal. In fact I got this one and the CDP1740A(the blue one) and am quite happy with the purchase.
62 the color is the best thing about this portable cd player
Skip protection does not work. I cannot wear it and walk on the treadmill at a brisk pace. The buttons do not work reliably either. I can push a button several times before the feature engages. This was a cute color, but performance wise, it's just another piece of junk.
63 Da Bomb
Ofcoarse I've seen better but this is one of the best so far. With 40 sec protection, it will go along way without missin a beat. I would recomend to take this anywhere including a bus where it may be a little bumpy. Over-all, I'd rate this product a 9/10
64 Great product,Great sound,Great price!
I've had mine for alittle while and it kicks ass! Never skips and sounds great. I would have gave this 5 stars but the headphones suck(sure they look good but suck). The one thing it needs is a battery indicator, But overall this best cd player out there for the price!
65 awesome diskman!
this cd player is great,it offers 40-second antiskip bass bosst system and different programable modes.it also has an ac adaptor, and to top it all off it looks cool.
66 An expensive way to save money.
It's cheap, true. The bad news is you're not saving money, you're wasting it. Don't buy this if you need shock protection - the "40 second skip protection" simply doesn't work, it jumps all over the place, because after one shock the alleged "shock protection" needs to build back up before it can take another mild bump. Okay, fair enough, maybe you wouldn't expect it to be too effective on a unit costing so little, but on mine even the buttons don't work properly. Press a button and it's pretty much a lottery what will happen. Press play and it might play, it might not, or it might just play one track in repeat mode. Press stop and it might stop, but it probably wont, press stop three times and it might. Press track skip or scan and you're opening a whole can of worms - virtually anything could result, except of course the one thing you want to happen. The headphones needless to say, are pathetic, and presumably all that "shock protection" and malfunctioning uses a lot of juice, because it goes through batteries like there's no tomorrow. This CD player is all the proof you'll ever need that you get what you pay for. Looks cool. Doesn't work. Don't buy.
67 turns out, it's unreliable
I originally rated this 4 stars -- even bought 2 of the units. As it turns out, they break easily. With normal use they usually give out in 6 months or less -- skipping is the first sign, then the 'stop' button won't work. It looks great and has a simple interface -- too bad they only last for a few months. Think of it as a disposable unit and you'll be happy.
68 Good Sound, Good Price, A Bit Flimsy
Ive had this cd player for about a week now, and i really like it. It sounds good and it had a low price tag. The shock protection is excellent (try leaving it on a table while a stuborn little brother does his work)and the 40 seconds are great to have in case your in a car (or bus) thats on a bumpy road. The only drawback is this, it is a little less durable than i'd like it to be. Koss should have hinged the lid instead of using the spring. But I know it wont come off when it is closed thanks to the open switch (it is really nice because it eliminates the chance of it opening in my pocket or book bag) But that makes little difference. The cd player and headphones are attractive and the entire design is well done. I applaud Koss for their work on this cd player.
69 KOSS CDP1740A BLUE PORTABLE CD PLAYER
This is a great product. It sounds great. This is the best buy for [theprice]. I love mine. I like it so much I ordered two. You shouldbuy one now!
70 A real beauty.
This player is fantastic...it has a see-through blue cover with the controls on top, superb quality, and pretty nice matching headphones. It would have been nice to have a battery indicator, but this is quite worth the low price... you could buy many other players for the same price that didn't remotely compare to this one.
71 GREAT CD PLAYER!
i LOVED IT. IAM BUYING A NEW ONE FOR I LOST MY OLD ONE. I LOVE IT'S LOOKS BUT MORE IT'S SOUND. I AM SURPRISED IT IS NOT AT LEAST OVER 100 BUCKS. THE SOUND IS CRYSTAL CLEAR AND SHARP AND OVERALL ENJOYABLE.ADVICE: DON'T BUY CHEAP ONES. THEY SUCK AND THEY AREN'T WORTH THIER PRICE.
72 Please, please do NOT buy! If you do, I feel SORRY for you!
The ONLY good thing about this CD player is the way it looks! The sound is so fuzzy. After a couple minutes of play, it starts making a really high-pitched sound like DE-DEEE-BE-NI-FII-DEEE! The headphones ALWAYS FALL OFF YOR HEAD, and you have to be Arnold S. to press the buttons! I am not kidding. But, if you like the sound of this CD player, go ahead and buy it. But, you'll regret it...majorly! Thank you for reading my review.
73 Good, But Missing Features
This CD player has a great weight and feel to it, and it look awsome to. It plays CD's super and has a very crisp sound. I got this to replace my Sony Discman, and with the replacement, There are some missing features that are hard to live without. This CD Player doesnt have a "resume" function that allows you to pick up off the place on the CD where you left off, and the biggest missing feature is a Battery Indicator, so you have absolutly no idea what condition your batteries are in. I will now be forced to take an extra pair of batteries with me wherever I go in case they go dead on me. But overall, its worth the money, and a good CD player! You can always trust Koss
74 GREAT PLAYER
As soon as i got the player i loved it. My old player was a GPX, and i got it like fie years ago, so i desided it was time to invest in a new one. I picked this one because it had a reasonable price, and it looked really nice. It is a beautifull player, and it plays just as well. It was much more compact than the other one, which was really nice. It is pretty slim, and the matching head phones are great, and they play well too
75 Great CD Player!
This CD player is great! IT looks cool, doesn't skip, has the best sound quality I've ever heard, and it's cheap!
76 Amazing Deal, Worth it!
The player seems durable and plays like a charm. Bass soundsgood, anti-shock feature has not failed on me yet! Although looksaren't EVERYTHING, this thing is one of the most visually pleasing discmans I've ever seen. Operates just as well!
. . . It is an overall exceptional portable CD Player that will be suitable for any situation. END
77 Very Disappointed
I bought this cd player because it appeared to have the standard options, was a high seller, and had good reviews by other users. The player would begin to emit a static-like sound after about 20 minutes of playing. After about the 3rd use it began to skip and would not stop. This was my first portable cd player and I was very disappointed
78 It was the best!
This is the best cd player you could ever have.Iv had one for a year and their where no problems at all
79 tight
This cd player is great. color is magnif! bass boost is sick. and it doesn't skip!
80 *Phat cd player*
I recommend this to anybody who is looking for a sharp looking cd player. I've had this for 1 week now and so far it's been great. The sound is nice and the headphones are great and they match too!
81 Cool CD player!
This CD player only worked for a few months. It was really cool while it lasted, though! Don't let this discourage you from buying it though. It was a good price and overall a pretty good buy!
82 great improvement over earlier designs
i had the model 1659 (same as the 1689 but with 10 sec of ASP) which lasted about 8 months. it almost turned me off koss until i saw this on sale.
a huge improvement over that design- better placement of the controls, a door latch assembly that isn't just waiting to fall off, recessed play/stop buttons that aren't so easily tripped when the player is stuffed into a carrying case.
my only mechanical complaint would be the adaptor jack- mercifully placed on the other side of the case, but the plug only goes about halfway into the socket. electrically i'm sure it's fine, just disconcerting to see it like that.
the electronics are about the same- some hiss but much less, and it seems more forgiving about slightly scratched CDs. headphones are great, with a cute "bondi blue" touch to them.
for the bucks, a good deal.
83 Really worth the price
This cute discman manufactured by Koss have a 40 sec memory for the hard bus time. The overall sound quality is ok and there's a bass boost option that work very well. Beside the cool design, I have to admit that the headphones are not the finest one but remember that price of this Koss player is the Panasonic and Sony 40 sec. models price divided by two !
84 Awesome CD player
This CD player is phat. It's got sweet headphones, nice sound, and 40 sec. anti-shock protection. Its see-through ice blue cover is cool. It has an extremely low price for a CD player of this quality and these features. If I had to choose between this CD player and any other of the same price, I'd buy this one immediately. Go out and buy it now!
85 Blue CD Player
This Portable CD player is fat, it has a cool see through blue casing. Works well it has a clear sound and has sweet ear phones,
86 Koss Asp 40 second Personal Cd player
Another great product by Koss. All of my cd players are made by this wonderful company. As you can see in the picture it is designed with the fashion loving Electronics enthusiast in mind. This CD player comines affordability, style and quality into a nice blue casing. This is a must have for anyone who wants to listen to their music in style, quality, and value.
87 Woo hoo!
I think it looks tight (for all of you out there that aren't in with the teenage "lingo" that means cool). I like the whole clear-blue thing that it has goin' on. It has a low price too, compared to all the other cd players that are like it.
