Spectacular Value! Kreisen 27-inch WXGA LCD TV 600:1 Contrast! 550 cd/m2 brightness! The elegantly styled Kreisen 27-inch LCD TV delivers an exquisite visual canvas composed of realistic colors, dramatic contrasts and brilliant resolutions at a remarkably affordable price. And you will enjoy the extraordinary comfort of 176-degree horizontal and vertical viewing angles! The KR-270T boasts a set of spectacular specifications including 600:1 contrast ratio, 550 cd/m2 brightness, WXGA 1280 x 768 resolution, 0.0184 pixel pitch and 25ms response time resulting in one of the most digitally advanced LCD televisions in the industry. All at an amazingly low price!
Bring your favorite movies, TV shows, and PC games to life with Kreisen's KR-270T high-definition LCD television. The remarkably affordable 27-inch widescreen set features a host of audio/video inputs, an internal NTSC tuner for convenient broadcast-TV viewing, and a 1,280 x 768 WXGA-resolution picture for crystal-clear imagery. A high (600:1) contrast ratio, an exceptional peak brightness of 550 candles/square meter, and extremely wide (176 x 176-degrees, vertical/horizontal) viewing angles mean you'll have a rich, exciting picture you can watch from just about anywhere in the room.
LCD screens offer a number of benefits over CRT monitors and televisions, including general ease of use, freedom from eye strain (no screen flickering or radiation emissions), quiet operation (no high-pitch "flyback" noise, an issue with CRT TVs), accurate image geometry (no curvature distortion or susceptibility to magnetic interference from, say, speakers), long screen life (with no risk of image burn-in), space savings, and light weight/easy positioning. They also tend to be more affordable than their flat-panel plasma counterparts, which often (though not always) offer faster response times and higher contrast ratios.
Digital Color Transient Improvement (DCTI) reduces color smear along the vertical edges of bright-color areas, while a technology called Digital Luminance Transient Improvement (DLTI) enhances contrast for a sharper, more natural image.
The set accommodates 7 video sources: high-definition analog PC (D-Sub 15-pin), 2 composite-video inputs, 1 each S-video and RF coaxial video (as for an antenna or an older VCR or cable box), a direct-digital DVI-I input (Digital Visual Interface for PC), and 1 set of high- or standard-definition component-video inputs.
The set's single-tuner PIP (picture-in-picture)/POP (picture-on-picture) feature lets you view one TV station and one video source (PC, DVD, etc.) simultaneously, either one atop the other or, in double-window mode, even side-by-side.
Other features of the KR-270T include closed-captioning, V-Chip parental control, 10 watts per channel x 2 stereo sound from built-in speakers, and a table stand for easy positioning. (You can also mount the set on the wall.)
What's in the Box
TV with detachable stand, a remote control, remote batteries, an RGB monitor video cable, an S-video cable, a user's manual, a product registration card, and an AC power cable.
1 Better than I thought for less than I expected!
Kriesen is a real sleeper. As good as it gets, yet an outstanding bargain compared to the big boys. The picture is outstanding in HD mode!! Very bright and detailed. Unit is attractive and remote easy once you get the hang of it. Highly recommend it. I had the pleasure of talking to customer support and they are, without doubt, the nicest and most helpful electronics company I have dealt with in years!
2 Very pleased and strongly recommend.
I was happy when I found the Kreisen KR-270T LCD-TV at a price below US$1k. It was my promise to myself that I would get a flat panel TV set when they reached this price point. In fact, I was at the point when I would have bought a more expensive model and was shopping for these TVs when I found the Kreisen. I live in the city in a small house and this size meets my needs perfectly (I have a 37 inch space in which to place this). The quality is fantastic and I use a Momitsu DVD-880 upconverting region free DVD player with this. I am very pleased with the quality. Don't take my word for it, go to a Microcentre store and see the Kreisen line "in person". You'll find that they are indeed a super value for the money.
3 KREISEN KR-270T is an excellent LCD TV (HDTV Ready) Buy
I bought this TV and had it over 3 months and it's one of the best investments I have made on CE products. First, it saved me so much money campared to many other more expensive LCD TVs. I also checked out several other products similarly priced but did not like the design or the picture quality from the obviously less than superior LCD panels. KREISEN makes full line up of LCD TV line from 17" wide up to 32". I have done my research and only s few branded products are selling 32" LCD TVs and at much higher price too. KREISEN only sells LCD TV, which makes them more focused rather than companies who brand LCD TV, Plasma, LCOS, etc without having expertise in one flat panel category. They have good tech support and the guy told me all of the LCD TVs from KREISEN is made in Korea, which gives me some more assurance of the quality of the product as well. I highly recommend KREISEN. In fact, with the money I saved on LCD TV, I purchased KREISEN DVD Recorder which is also another great value.
4 Do not buy this for use with a PC
I bought this as a 2nd gaming monitor for the PC (my first was the Kreissen 30" version) and was sorely disappointed.
Although the screen has a native resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels it does not appear that the internal circuitry supports it. In fact the manual actually tells you to set your PC settings at 1024 x768. This was confirmed when no matter what I tried, I could not get it to display either through the DVI or VGA connector at 1280 x768.
In contrast the 30" version of the Kreisen which I also have worked flawlessly at this resolution.
I ended up returning it and exchanging it for the 30" Kresisen which is a really good value.
If you are buying this for use as a TV only this review may not apply, but if you are planning on using it with a PC pass on this one.
