Sleek, sexy and super lightweight, the G4020 from LG is jam packed with high-end features. An external caller-ID display, instant messaging and one-touch Internet access keep you informed and in touch. It's the perfect companion to AT&T Wireless service.

Design
The G4020 is an ultra lightweight and compact clamshell-style phone that weighs only 2.84 ounces. The full-color 128 x 128 screen is clear and bright and a handy 5-way navigation key on the button pad provides access to most of the phones menus and functions. A second black and white LCD screen on the outside of the handset displays call information, battery life, current time and more. There's a standard jack to accept universal hands-free headsets on the top left side of the handset. The top right side of the unit houses the antenna while a charging and data port is placed on the lower edge of the unit. The phone also features one-button access to AT&T wireless' mMode wireless web service.

Calling Features
The G4020's built-in address book can store up to 255 contacts for quick and easy management of phone numbers and email addresses. The phone comes with built-in polyphonic ringtones and more can be downloaded from AT&T's mMode service. Conference calling with up to five participants is supported, as is speed dialing, which allows you to dial up to nine numbers at the touch of a button. A 20-number call log keeps track of your most recent incoming, outgoing and missed calls.

Messaging and Internet
The G4020 has all the bases covered when it comes to messaging and Internet connectivity. The phone features one button access to AOL, MSN and Yahoo! instant messaging applications (AT&T messaging charges apply). There's also a built-in web browser for mMode downloads and mobile web browsing. AT&T's mMode service lets you receive and send emails, read news headlines, get sports scores, download games and ringtones, and more. Traditional text messaging and picture messaging is also supported by the phone. T9 text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit-- a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.

Imaging and Entertainment
The G4020 is Java enabled, meaning it supports games written on the Java platform. Games are available via the mMode service.

1 Great basic phone
I only used it for 4 months. I highly recommend getting a case to protect it because it appears to be easily scratched. Battery life seems normal - meaning you can skip a day without charging it unless you are a big talker of course. The screen is nice and bright...the rings are nice and it's cool to change out the backgrounds.

It does have a web browser. I tried using it once and got very frustrated and gave up. Besides AT&T charges like 3 cent per k and I was able to get 25k worth of useage in only 5 mins. Not only that but I still was unable to retrieve the info I needed. I gave up and found a "real" computer to use for the web function.

Anyway, if you want a basic phone or just want to earn money from a rebate, go for it. Don't expect anything but a good basic phone from it.
2 VERY GOOD PHONE!
I've had my LG G4020 for about 4 months and it has never given me a problem. I recharge the battery about every 3 days, and my phone is on constantly. I must have dropped this phone about 12 times and besides for there being a dent in the outside plastic, this phone works fine. It's very good for kids because you are able to download up to 10 ringtones on it and you can also get screensavers and games for it. There are also many faceplates available to buy for this phone. All my friends love this phone and I am very happy with it.
3 PICK ANOTHER PHONE!
In the few short weeks I had this phone, the battery failed twice. On the second occasion, I went back to Nokia. I need a reliable phone. (Also had a SIM card go bad, but that is not necessarily the fault of the phone.) Incidentally, my phone was not subject to any harsh conditions that could have precipitated the failures.

Pluses include very nice styling and easy to use navigation.
The display is good, but not as good as others.
The other real weakness, aside from a battery problem, is the headset is very hard to hear, even at the highest volume setting.

I am now using a Nokia 3120 which has a better display and a very nice speakerphone option for those of us who do a lot of talking and are afraid of frying our remaining brain cells.

In summary, the LG was a disappointment. I'm sticking with nokia in the future.
