The all-digital VX6000 is the picture perfect example of technology and innovation. With its built-in camera, complete with zoom control and three resolution adjustments, as well as a large high-resolution display, the VX6000 from LG creates a totally new experience for mobile users. Get in on all the fun of a camera phone with robust mobile Internet and messaging capabilities.
Design
The phone features a traditional clamshell design with a large 120 x 160 TFT color display with a stunning 262,000 colors. The outside cover of the handset sports a supplementary OEL (Organic Electro-Luminescent) 96 x 38 display that can display time, call information, battery and signal strength, and more. Most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's blue backlit control pad. Meanwhile, the top right side of the unit houses an antenna while the USB-capable data and charging port is housed on the unit's bottom edge. There's a standard jack to accept universal hands-free headsets on the left side of the handset.
Calling Features
The VX6000's built-in address book can store up to 499 contacts for quick and easy management of phone numbers and email addresses. The phone comes with 36 built-in polyphonic ringtones plus a vibrating alert. Voice activated dialing makes calling your friends, family and associates as easy as saying their names. The speed dialing feature allows you to dial up to 99 numbers virtually instantaneously. A built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear and the VX6000's GPS location technology pinpoints your exact location when you dial 911.
Messaging, Internet and Tools
The VX6000 is a messaging powerhouse with support for Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS), which allows you to send picture messages as easily as text and graphics. When used in combination with the phone's built-in camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging fun. T9 text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit-- a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.
Getting on the Internet anywhere is easy with the VX6000, as well. Verizon's optional Mobile Web package allows you to read and send e-mails, exchange instant messages and view your favorite web content on your phone. You can check your e-mail, trade stocks online, compare prices while shopping, access flight information, get movie listings and find directions to the theater.
Verizon's Get It Now wireless download service is also fully compatible with the VX6000. This pay-per-download service features application downloads, games and productivity tools. You can also personalize your handset with ringtone downloads and digital photo-sharing tools using the Get It Now service.
The VX6000 ships with a calendar and scheduler, a voice memo application with up to 4 minutes of record time, and a notepad. An alarm clock, calculator and world clock are also included, as is the very handy restaurant tip calculator. Never dine without it!
Imaging and Entertainment
The VX6000 really shines in the digital imaging department. The 330,000-pixels, 640 x 480 camera features a digital zoom, color effects controls (normal, antique, black and white, negative), a built-in mirror for self-portraits and white balance adjustment. The camera can be set to one of three quality levels (low, medium, high) and there's also a shutter self timer. Built-in framing software lets you place one of five "fun frames" around your photos before you send them off to friends.
The fun doesn't stop with taking pictures. The VX6000 is also BREW enabled, meaning it supports games written on the BREW platform and many games are available via the Get It Now service. The phone also features customizable caller ID pictures and 7 built-in screen backgrounds so you can make your phone reflect your personality.

1 LG VX 6000 star performer
Have owned this model over one year.
It is beautifully designed with TWO color displays...a large display when the phone is open and a narrow color display on over when clam shell top is closed.
All functions are intuitive and easy to learn....manuel is well written and easy to use.
Only limitation is that the number of voice activated numbers is too few...about nine...you should be able to buy this at a very favorable price as there is now a new version the VX6100.
2 Wouldn't recommend
I have this LG phone for a year now, and I have a lot to say about it.
The Pros: Good reception. Easy to hold (not to small like some cell phones are) and has a little bit more weight to it (which I prefer).
The Cons: 2 phones later and they both have a short battery life. They both also shut off in the middle of a conversation ALL the time. The phone will power off for no apparent reason, and it will do so if you go to answer it and pick it up the wrong way. The battery doesn't seem to stay charged for as long as I'd like.
About the Camera: I think it's crap, but it's a cell phone, in my personal opinion, it's not meant to be taking award winning pictures. So neither a pro or a con, just what I'd expect from a camera on a cell phone.
Overall: For all the hassle I have with it shutting down all the time, I wouldn't recommend it.
3 Good phone, bad software
I just purchased this phone 8 days ago. The phone itself is great. I get a better signal with this phone than I did with my old LG VX10. I love the voice command and driving mode features--they allow me to talk on the phone without risking a car accident because I'm pressing buttons on the phone. The biggest downside is the software. As of the date of this review, the 6100 is on its second software version. However, one big problem remains in that version: the caller id feature does not work properly while roaming. Your phone may display "Call from: no ID" when receiving an incoming call. However, once you answer the phone, the caller ID information shows up. This only happens about 50% of the time: sometimes it works; sometimes it doesn't. I have been told by Verizon technicians that this problem will should be fixed soon in the next software release for the phone. I will be waiting for the new software to come out rather than exchanging the phone.
4 Over all Im very happy with phone.
I have only had the phone a short time. I upgraded from a LG VX10 but over all Im very happy with the LG VX6000. The phone is simple to use and if you have used LG flip phones before then you want need the manual. I read that alot of people complain about the phones lights turning off while typing, well that aint so because as long as you are typing it keeps the lights on and you can set the inside lights for seconds to minutes to always on. The signal strentgh is good and I live in a mountains region and on a road where people loose reception the LG VX6000 all digital phone still had one bar on this road. Now another copol detail is if your phone keeps loosing reception in areas it will only search for towers every fifteen minutes wich is good to save battery. I had a phone that always searched and a full charge in that area would be dead by end of day without making any calls so I like that. The pictures are real nice and the phone come with some good ring tones but I use normal phone ring. The voice recognitionis awsome, I had a phone where you could only say one name like John but this one you can say John Doe and it repeats it back to you correctly.
Now down sides are that its all digital no analog but Im not complaining because I new this when I bought it but you might not. Also the outside display goes off to save battery but if you want to see the time then I just push the right side button to turn it back on but that is another non important down side. The lights on the numbers when the phone is opened are nice but not that bright and the end and send button are'nt very well lit, now that is a ligit gripe. The camera lens cant be covered and it has no flash but then again if your taking pics in the dark buy a real camera. Another grip I see is that it only holds 20 pics but theres ways around that and if you put more then 20 pics on in two or three days, buy a real camera. Over all this phone is great and Im happy with it so unlike the 6100 wich I had problems with a few days after getting it but then again might have been that one phone but if your looking at this phone then I dont believe you will be unhappy. If you want to see my thoughts and updates then check out my forum and under cell phone will be post from me and others as the forum grows so its at http://uceddiec.proboards24.com/

5 Sweet~^^
This phone is very good, except for the camera. The camera's gallery can only save up to 20 pictures. What's up with that ToT. The phone is pretty cool, and has o.k ring tones. I like the voice memos as well. I don't highly recommend this phone, especially if you like taking many pictures. Peace outie~........................^^
6 NOt very good..
I bought this phone 4 months ago and it just quit working.
Pros :
- IT has a camera
-can send txt and picture messages
-nice small and compact disign
-2 screens one on the front and one on the inside
Cons:
-*for me* it quit working after a few months
- After a while you hear a echo when you talk
- There is no zoom in the camera
- There is no flash
- sort of heavier than other phones
-gets scratched real easily
So there you go. I dont reccomend Lg;s now ive had a nolkia and LG and samsung and i reccomend the samsung the best out of the three phones Ive had in the last two year..
7 Nice phone, but only average reception.
I like the phone's features in general, but I have to disagree with the other reviews regarding reception. My family has noticed an obvious loss of reception with all of our LG phones, since switching from our previous Kyocera phones. Locations at which we previously had solid reception, no longer have the necessary signal strength.
8 Reliable and Durable
This phone came free when I renewed my Verizon plan, and I have been very satisfied with it. This is my first flip phone, since I usually go for the more durable "candy-bar" phones, but at the time I got this one all of the candy-bar models that Verizon had available were fairly low-grade. So while I was a little skeptical of this, I have been very pleased with its performance.
PROS:
+ The ringer can be maxed out at an extremely loud volume. While I leave my phone on vibrate most of the time, my sister has the same phone and likes the loud ringer so that she doesn't miss calls when her phone is in her purse.
+ Easy interface for basic features; doing the basic programming is a snap.
+ Good camera. The camera is what you can expect from a phone, and you have to practice with it to take good shots. But, with practice, you can take pictures in the proper lighting that rival actual cameras. (To do so, I suggest setting the file size to the largest, then shrinking the photo on your computer using any photo editing program (MS Paint even works) to increase the resolution).
+ Battery. The battery holds a charge for a long time.
CONS:
- Battery. Battery gets very warm from extended use, which is kind of annoying.
- Aesthetics. Phone is generally durable, but scratches very easily if dropped.
- Vibrate feature. The phone could have done with a stronger vibrate; it's often hard to feel it if it's not pressed against your body (i.e., if you put it in a jacket pocket).
- Size. This phone is fairly large.
- Features. While the basic features are easy, the more advanced ones are impossible to figure out, since the instructions don't cover them and the CD Verizon gives you has even less information.
Example: how to store an image in your "My Media" folder so that it doesn't take up room in your photo album. You do this by sending the picture to yourself, then saving the picture from the picture message- it'll appear in "My Media" under "images," and you can assign it to caller ID without taking up room in the gallery. You also may want to send the image to the web via the "upload" feature, then crop it and send it to your phone from the vzwpix.com site; the phone takes images that are larger than the screen for some reason, and when the phone displays images you snapped it crops the ends off, but when it receives an image from a picture message it compresses it- so sending yourself an image you took will end up in a distorted picture. This is certainly counter-intuitive and it would have been nice to receive instructions on how to do this instead of figuring it out by accident.
OVERALL:
I wouldn't pay the money Amazon charges for this phone. But if it comes free with your Verizon plan or you can get it cheaper, go for it- it does all the basic features easily and you can (eventually) figure out the advanced ones, which are cool once you get them running.
9 Note CDMA only
Let me start off by the saying the phone is awesome as far as reception ability, battery life, camera phone, voice quality and everything else you would expect. I have noticed a lot of good reviews about the phone which it undoubtedly deserves (reason I gave it 4/5 stars), but I came across a few things that should be noted before you actually buy one.
1. It is in no way a small phone, it is conspicously large and bulky.
2. The curvy design may be a little feminine, for those who care.
3. Very importantly, it works only on Verizon's digital service, so if u plan to spend a lot of time outside the cities, you would want to consider something with better roaming abilities.
4. NO GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!! what was LG thinking?
10 A very good phone
This phone is very good:
- holds a charge well
- takes good pictures & uploads them over the air to the Verizon web site where I can get them
- accesses the web without problems
- has a color screen good for showing pictures to others (serves as my "brag book" for my baby son)
No complaints and good reception. Also, a lot of snapshots I'd have missed otherwise!
11 Better than I ever expected
I have to say that I was somewhat hesitant about purchasing this phone. After having broken just about every phone in the past I was worried that I would do the same with this one. It is the smallest phone that I have had but I must say it is the most durable. I have dropped it more times than I can count and it hasn't let me down yet. The graphics and color quality are excellent. It is a good camera phone although the pictures are not of the best quality. I love the voice dialing feature as well as the sound quality of the ring tones. It does not come with any games but you can download those for a few bucks. Overall I am very pleased and look forward the the next line of these great phones.
