Wireless-G Portable USB Adapter, 802.11g
1 Not a High Gain Antenna system
I bought this to replace a wusb11, mainly because the Linksys site and product description state it has a HIGH GAIN ANTENNA. While it preforms well and was a snap to setup. I could see no difference between the two, reception wise. I could have bought a wusb54g and got the same results for less money. One other thing is that is is quite delicate when used without is's stand. I do like this item but it is quite pricey.
2 Another great Linksys Product!
Setup was extremely easy and the install was even easier (if at all possible). Literally took it out of the box, plugged it in, loaded the CD, followed the prompts, and done. Not only does it connect my wireless network at 54.0 Mbps, it also picks up four other wireless networks in my immediate neighborhood. I have it running on a brand new WinXP machine with SP2. I also should note, we have 5.4Ghz wireless phones. I have found that 2.4Ghz wireless phones can greatly impair your wireless network.
3 Great Product - Easy setup, great range
I recently installed the adapter on an old Win 98SE computer in my daughter's room. This room is on the other side of the house (large) from the room my router is in. Easy setup. Previous adapter's signal was always weak or non-existant. The Linksys reaches the router with a 60% signal strength and 2400 Kb/sec. download time with a cable modem. Plenty fast for my daughter. It may cost more, but in my opinion, is worth every penny.
4 Great Mobile Access Point
I just picked this item up from Wal-Mart for my gf's old slow computer and I must say it was up and running in a snap. All of the features in a W-NIC are there and it can be moved around very easily. The stand is espically nice when on the road. I would recommened buying 2 suctions cups for the back so you can place it on glass. The only reason I did'nt give it 5 stars was becuase of the price. Buy hey Cisco owns Linksys now and you know your buying quality when you pay a little extra.
5 This thing is AWSOME!!!
I have a 5 years deadly slow old computer PIII/800Mgz and lately I decided to bury it after I bought the monester Dimension 8400 from Dell. I thought I would leave that old computer for my sister's kids to play with. I have a wireless network at home. Lately I saw that little beautiful thing from Linksys at Sam's Club. So I thought..hmm why not try... and if it did not work I can make use of Sam's Club Return Policy. So I bought it for $80 + tax. Up until the moment I was heading back home I was kind of certain that it won't work. Guys! you can't believe it! In less that 10 minutes that old man of mine has GONE WIRELESS!!! GOD!! I looked like a HERO in the eyes of my family. The set up of this thing is verrrrry easy. I even didn't have to read from the manual. You don't need any special cards installed to make this thing work on your computer because it worked on mine and I think this old computer I have was created even before the beginning of time. Now this computer is receiving signal of 54Mbps. GUYS you don't know what you are missing!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!!!!!!!! Thx to Linksys!
