1 AN ABSOLUTELY AMAZING LIVE PERFORMANCE!!
I just received my copy of Hayley Westenra, "Live From New Zealand," and must say that after watching her performance, I was totally blown away! Hayley is amazing in concert! The St. James Theatre was the perfect venue. The bonus features on the DVD are a nice treat after the concert. The interview with Hayley is very interesting and gives a lot of background on how she started out in the music industry. I really enjoyed the short documentary on the beautiful island of New Zealand. The video performance of Hayley's signature hit, "Pokarekare Ana," is excellent and shows off the beautiful beach area of "Cathedral Cove." Overall an excellent DVD. I can't wait for her next album, due out in the fall of 2005. GO HAYLEY!!
2 A Sweet Caress to the Soul
There is music that makes you wanna dance, there is music that is relaxing and there is this rare kind of music that touches your soul. The music of Hayley Westenra unquestionably belongs to the latter. Being blessed with a hauntingly beautiful voice that gives you goose bumps which just won't go away, Hayley is gradually bringing her talent to a perfection that is not of this world.
I have been a faithful admirer of Sarah Brightman for 18 years and I have always been positive that there cannot possibly be a voice with a clarity greater than hers. Having heard Hayley, I knew I was wrong. Her latest album she named "Pure" and the ever growing throng of Hayley's fans would right away agree that "nomen est omen".
Every song on this DVD is a masterpiece, so I would not dare make a ranking, but personally I enjoyed "May it Be", "Wuthering Heights" and "Hine e Hine" the most.
I strongly recommend that you buy this DVD. You would not want to miss out on an early concert of the artist that will one day be referred to as the "Voice of the 21st Century". At the same time you will be able to let your eyes feast on a very pretty, charming young lady that moves very elegantly to her celestial tunes. Do buy this DVD and share it with someone whom you truly love!
3 As Pure as it Gets
Kudos! A phenominal performance. This amazingly talented young lady is at her best in her native New Zealand. There are many selections from her "breakout" CD, Pure. This is a big plus, yet the other selections equally showcase Hayley's talents as a performer. What's next ? "Super stardom," of course.

We even get a glimpse of her younger sister Sophie as the two girls sing together on one song. When Hayley Westenra performs, the heavenly angels' jaws drop, and you will see precisely why when you view this DVD. 5 Hayley Westenra in concert in NZ! What could be better?
I watched the PBS special and it is gorgeous!!! The whole set is so wonderful and Hayley continues with her remarkable ability one minute singing pop tunes the next spirituals, folk and even some classical!!
Her outfit changes are done in a very tasteful way and they all seem to fit the main theme. Some other artists where such widely different outfits - that that's all you can think about. But with Hayley, the focus is kept on the voice.
The selections are from "Pure" and feature several new songs as well! I'm pre-ordering two copies of the DVD, one for me one for a friend. I am especially eager to view the 2 songs that didn't make it on the special and the other bonus features -- and there's a lot of them!!!
Best of all Hayley sounds the best that I've ever heard her -which includes 2 times I saw her live- and it's a bonus treat to be introduced to her sister Sophie!
Hayley is my favorite artist because of that pure voice and the fact that in live concerts, TV appearances, album signing or even a PBS show -- when you meet her backstage she's exactly the same. Just as down to earth and sweet as ever....
Hayley is already a superstar in England, New Zealand, Australia, Japan and many other continues as well. As for those of you in the US who haven't fallen charm to her angelic voice yet - you don't know what your missing!
