1 AFFORDABLE DURABILITY
I OWN THIS ANIMAL FOR OVER 15 MONTHS AND NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS, EVEN DESPITE MY BABY'S NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO DESTROY IT BY PULLING, CHEWING AND DROPPIG IT:-))) (Don't forget that blinking red light coolness factor). And that with the Amazon's price lower than most of her rattles... Oh, we love Amazon and Logitech for that matter! If you read this it means we did couple more clicks with this mouse..
2 2-button mouse kludged to act as 3-button mouse
Take a close look at the picture before ordering this--it's only got two real buttons. The scroll wheel is used as the middle button, which is quite awkward.
3 Battery sucker, but pro and precise
The only problem with this mouse is it is a battery sucker. goes through batterys in a couple months. It needs a mouse on and off button to conserve battery life when not in use. Once that little red light comes on you better have batteries ready. This mouse is heavier than most standard mouses. However if you don't move the mouse within a couple mins, it locks up,(standby), for a few seconds and skrolls again. it Only one time so far the data of the mouse got corrupted and I had to go to the Kensington website to download the software because I lost my cd.

The good thing about it, its precise, as it says. You can still be 5 feet away and use the mouse backwards and its still precise. This mouse is worth it to buy because of its accurancy and doesn't skip. If you ARE LAZY, you can skroll the mouse on your pant leg or on a bed. heh.
4 Keeps on going
I have had this for over 3 years now. Even dropped it at least a few times - but it just keeps on going. I am getting tired of it - but it does not get tired.
Dont think twice - just go for it.
5 A MBA student
About ten bucks, it is a good deal. It is really easy setup even though I have not installed its MouseWare yet. I use with Dell Inspiron 1150 and XP Home. Before I decided to buy this mouse, I also considered with the wireless one. Many of my friends who bought the wireless complainted a lot about the short period of battery life. Otherwise, I must buy a expensive wireless mouse which come with a rechargeable battery, at least 40 dollars. So I decided to get this mouse instead.
6 Excellent value for money
Delivers a lot for 10 bucks. After having worked with a ball-mouse for so long, it is definitely a step-up. excellent value for money.
7 Flawless Performance, Great Deal
I own three of these Logitech USB Optical mice and am running them on 2 Windows 2000 Pro and 1 Windows 98SE machines, and am buying a fourth for my W2K Pro laptop. I purchased the first mouse over a year ago for my older W98 machine and it works smoothly and flawlessly, as do all of them. The motion is like running the mouse over silk-- no skips, bounces, or hang-ups. No driver needed for my W2K computers, and software only needs to be installed for W98 in order to get full functionality from the scroll wheel.

It works really well in all applications that I use, including Autodesk 2005, graphics editors, and Internet browsers.

You can't beat the price and will be repaid many times over for the quality built into this pointing device.
8 I'm so Ashamed
Yes...I feel so..dumb. How long have I gone with a "ball" mouse that had to be cleaned periodically? Don't ask. It was just something I put up with as it never seemed to be a priority. But I finally broke down after a recent "ball cleaning" and ordered the Logitech optical mouse.
Once it arrived, it took only 5 minutes to set up, and then I was clicking away like a mad-person. I swear, it seems as though my internet connection is faster, but of course it's just the ease at which I can now move thru pages, etc.
So if you're out there now reading this and you've yet to "go optical," stop with the excuses and take a few minutes to purchase this mouse. You'll thank me later :)
9 Works like it should.
I have this mouse on one computer and a different (microsoft) optical mouse on another. Both are excellent. As far as I can tell, it's mostly just a matter of optical mice being superior to the type that rely on rolling balls. The LEDs work well and don't jam up with dust. What more do you need out of a mouse?
10 great product with great price
i've been using it for 3 years and it still works perfectly, the only thing i don't like about it is that it seems to be a little too big and the wheel seems to make very loud noise.. guess it's cos i've been using it for so long
11 We use this mouse on all 5 computers and love it
Easy to install and use, works very well
12 Easy to Install & Reliable
I was sick of my mouse-ball getting stuck, especially when I was playing computer games, and using Adobe Photoshop...I can't stand spending a lot of money on computer accessories, so I was happy to find something that worked so well for such a low price...I also like the cord length (longer than my last two mouses).
13 bought this for the great reviews -- but it's horrible!
Don't know if I have a defective mouse or what, but this mouse lags in a big way. Whenever the mouse runs over items that cause the cursor to change, it stalls. It's the worst when you try to move it slowly on top of something. Sometimes the cursor doesn't budge. And I thought my track ball mouse was a pain! After a week of use, this one is giving me tendonitis in my elbow! I thought perhaps I just need to get used to using an optical mouse, but it's not worth it. I'm trashing this one and going back to my track ball. Or do those higher priced optical mice really perform better than the cheap ones? I'm hesitant to try them since there were such good reviews on this mouse, and it's obviously not working for me...
14 a great replacement for the silly old mice
I bought this mouse because I got fed up with constantly cleaning the dust out of my old model. Dusty mice are no good for gaming or photoshop, so I was getting really annoyed.

The configurability on the mouse with the provided CD is a good feature. Additionally, I didn't have any of the optical mouse problems where the laser reading occasionally causes the mouse to jump across the screen.

I've also accidentally dropped it off the desk a few times and it still works fine.

A robust and reliable mouse - buy it now!

15 Get FIVE of these!
I love these mice! They're so reliable. I've used well over 5 or 6 on my different computers at work and at home. They're just so great. I've never had a problem with them. They are simple, but they also have a scroll wheel and are optical. Get one today!
16 This A+ certified user is happy with his Logitech Mouse.
I have always liked Logitech's products. I own a wireless keyboard, the Trackman FX mouse alternative, Wingman Rumblepad, Extreme 3D joystick, cordless Playstation2 controller, and now, this humble little optical mouse. Every single one of those Logitech products exceeded my expectations.

I bought a used computer on ebay to add to my home network. It did not come with a mouse. So, not wanting to spend a whole lot of money, I went for this inexpensive optical mouse and ordered from Amazon, along with a KDS 17-inch monitor. I thought it would be necessary to install the included drivers to get it to work with Windows 2000 Advanced Server. However, using the USB port, the mouse immediately began to work without the need to install the drivers from the CD.

This particular computer system is in a dark part of the house. I can plainly see the red light start to glow brighter from the bottom of the unit during use. This device works on a variety of surface, so you do not need a mouse pad.

I highly recommend this Logitech mouse. It is a very good product even if you do not factor in the low price.

I will write a review of the KDS 17-inch monitor as soon as I have had a chance to evaluate it further.

17 Amazing mouse for use with my Macs
My old mouse gave out, probably due to all the gunk that had built up on the ball. I looked at several here on Amazon and was impressed with the reviews for this one. The price is awesome and the mouse works like a dream. There is no choppy movement like you get with a ball mouse, and best of all you won't have to clean out the gunk. I use this mouse with my iMac and my iBook and couldn't be any happier with its performance. The positive reviews speak for themselves...this mouse is a must have.
18 I love this mouse!
All I can say is: why didn't I get this SOONER??
19 Not great, but good
I'm currently using this mouse for my laptop computer and while it is certainly an upgrade from the touchpad this mouse isn't as great as some of the other reviews have made it out to be. Not to belittle the product, it is a good mouse, but it isn't fantastic. The scroll wheel is a little rough and not quite as smooth as some mice I've used and I've just purchased this product so I can't comment on its durability. So, overall, you might want to chip in the few extra bucks for an upgraded mouse. As the title of this review states--not great, but good.
20 Great mouse for the price!
This mouse works great, was easy to install, and I'm getting a $5.00 rebate which made it cost me around $10! No complaints out of me.
21 Your computer will love you for it.
Get rid of yo ballz!
Yep this mouse has no balls!
But it still has plenty to show!

SMOOTH!
DOES NOT GET DIRTY!
CAN BE PROGRAMMED!

22 Opera 7.23 compatible
Excellent mouse. Excellent price. Compatible with the scroll features on Opera 7.23.

Yay!

23 Very good and affordable
I used this mouse for 2 years and never had any problems.
It is very precise and reliable.
In my opinion, this mouse has the best performance/price combination among all similar products on the current market.
24 Just Great
I own three of these: two for home, and one for office (not even reimburesed by my company- this is how great it is). The size is great (not bulky like the Microsoft mice), and it just works fantastically: the movement is smooth and precise, the buttons easy to press, the scroll wheel is a real help when browsing.

26 Great mouse!!!!!!
After 3 years with the same mouse it was time for a change, and I upgraded to this one. I am sooooo glad I did!!!!It works like a dream mouse should!! The red light is great! Smooth drive and easy to operate. Would recomend this one!!!
27 Perfect simplicity
I've used a lot of mice over the years, and this one is my favorite. it's simple and functional, the optical tracking has high-resolution, and it's been absolutely trouble-free.

It has the limitations as other optical mice (some surfaces don't work well... such as mirrors or certain kinds of fine repeating patterns), but otherwise it's perfect.

28 Optical is the way to go.
I bought this mouse on the recommendation of other reviewers here, and I'm glad I did. Its smoothness and accuracy are far better than with any ball mouse I've ever used. Plus there's no maintenance required.
The Logitech Optical Mouse rates up there with the Kenwood car MP3 player as two of the best investments I've ever made. :)
29 Great mouse! You can't go wrong with this!
Wow! This is nice! Works great! Great price!
No more sticky mouse balls to deal with. You don't even need a mouse pad. Easy to use. Just plug it in, turn your computer on, and you're in business. Comes with software, but I've seen no reason to install that.

I highly recommend this mouse.

30 Optical is the way to go...
If you have no idea what an optical mouse is then you are in for a surprise. It does not have a ball. It uses a lazer under the mouse to detect movement so cleaning that dirty ball every few weeks is now OUT THE DOOR!

An Optical mouse has the best fluid movement I have ever experienced from a mouse. It will also allow you to copy, paste and select all at the click on a button. This mouse has made my work so much easier. I really mean that. This is an amazing idea for a product. You should get one.

31 i like it
simple, light, inexpensive, gets the job done great.
32 I agree its a great mouse
I was using the microsoft wireless optical mouse but the mouse needed to be near the receiver and the batteries do not last very long. I like this wired mouse much better. The cost difference is not the reason since I already had the wireless mouse.
33 Amazing product for the right price
I have been frustrated with my mouse for a long time as the ball kept getting gummed up. I 'slurged' and bought this mouse for $15 and it was one of the best purchases I have made yet. The mouse is perfect! It fits perfectly in the contours of my hand and its extremely light. The cord is really long (which could be good or bad for you). I give it two thumbs up.
34 Precision at a Great (Low) Price
This is the low end for Logitech, and the box does not mention that it has 800 pixels capability just like its higher priced counterparts.
I had recently purchased the wireless Logitech MX duo keyboard and cordless MX700 (the mouse alone retails at $70) and I was sorely disappointed. The mouse cursor skipped and hopped; the recharger was cumbersome; and the energy runs out of it like all cordless devices and needs to be recharged. I found I much prefered my dirty old mouse balls to this.

Following the advice I found here, I returned my pricey mouse the next day and exchanged it for this, the $15 special. I was immediately impressed with the quality and precision. If you are one who works at your desk using Photoshop etc., I think you will be pleased with this mouse as well.

35 Love the LED!!
My workplace tends to get VERY dusty and therefore the old mouse ball had to be cleaned out at least once per week - thought it would be a good idea to go LED. I love not having to clean it every week and the sensitivity/accuracy is phenomenal. Have a much better control over my mousing.
36 Amazing optical mouse @ low price!
Just like most of the other reviewers I was sick of my "ball" mouse getting gunk in it. Sure, I could open it up and clean it, but all of the gunk never seemed to come out. Finally, I just got fed up with it. After reading reviews on optical mice on the cheaper end of the spectrum I ended up getting this one. I love it! I do a lot of photo editing with Photoshop and you need to have an acurate mouse. Before it was a pain to do close-up editing. Now it's a piece of cake. This mouse, as of yet doesn't have any of the problems jumping around the screen that other op-mice have. The only "problem" is getting used to how fast it moves because movement isn't dependent upon the friction of the ball against the mouse pad. After just 24 hrs, though, I'm over that lil problem.
37 Simple - but who needs anything more?
I got this mouse because it was the cheapest optical mouse in the store. I don't see why anyone would pay more for a mouse that has a few more buttons. This mouse has worked very well for the 5 months I've owned it. I use it with a Mac, and as for installation... well, there is none. Just plug it in, and your ready to go - including the right mouse button and scroll wheel. Don't let the low price fool you - this is a good product.
38 It was great until it broke :-(
I got this mouse in July of 2001 because I wanted an optical mouse very badly and this one was so cheap. It worked fine for almost two years until its left mouse button broke in June of 2003. It still works, but if I relax my index finger on it slightly while holding it down, it will do what I call "release and reengage". In other words, if you are dragging an icon over another icon, and relax pressure a little bit, the icon will be dropped on the other icon and the other icon will be clicked on. This is a real problem, because sometimes when I click an icon to start a program, two instances of the program are started. Or I can highlight text and it won't stay highlighted.

I'm not saying I don't recommend this mouse, as it has gone through a lot of abuse in the last two years. It is sure better than any ball mouse I've ever had (I had 3 before I got this optical mouse.) Unfortunately, this problem may make me need to replace this mouse soon.

39 A little jumpy
Not sure how you review a mouse -- either it works or it doesn't. This one does, usually. The wheel is especially helpful and I love the fact that I don't need a mousepad.

On the other hand, I've noticed that the optical stuff occasionally gets messed up, sending my pointer flying into the corner of my screen even when I only make a small move with the mouse. It appears to be related to the surface that I use the mouse on -- oddly enough, it happens a lot more when I use a mousepad! I think that's just how optical mice work.

I'd buy it again. Heck, I did buy it again.

40 Excellent Product Highly Recommended
This is my first optical mouse and it has worked wonderfully well for me. My roller-ball mice start to skip after 8-12 months of use and I go out to buy a new one. I decided to try this product. It is fairly inexpensive. So far, I have been well pleased. I just plugged it in and that was it. I havent opened the software disk that came with it. I just wanted a basic function mouse this one works fine. I am happy with it.
41 An Amazing Mouse
I have had this mouse for several years and I've never had any problems with it. It is incredibly smooth, comfortable to handle and compatible with the computer (at least Windows). It even looks nice. I purchased this mouse because I wanted to get rid of my old ball mouse and I picked this one basically because it was optical and it was very inexpensive. I am truly amazed at how such an inexpensive mouse has worked this well for such a long time! If you don't mind the cord I wouldn't bother buying a more expensive mouse, this one is perfect! I definitely recomend the Logitech brand..
42 Would have gotten 5 stars if not for the wheel.
I purchased this mouse for the same reason as most people, because I was tired of cleaning my old mouse. The mouse works perfectly as far as motion and left/right clicking. The only negative thing is the wheel. It seems to have a mind of its own. Sometimes when I use it to scroll, it will continue scrolling even after I have stopped spinning the wheel. The wheel also seems to be quite flimsy. Other than that the mouse as a whole performs very well.
43 Amazing quality at a major bargain price.
What can I say? Possibly the best mouse ever? Well I don't know this is only my second one. I decided to buy it since the mouse that came with my computer 2 years ago seemed to be defective since the beginning and worsened over time. I couldn't take it. I didn't know what to look for in a mouse or which to buy. I loved the price and 5 stars for average rating of customers, what the heck, let's give this mousy a try. And I'm glad I did. As soon as I plugged it in, huge difference. It definantly does as you wish. I love the webwheel feature. When you're on the web and click on the scroll button, this wheel comes out on the screen, and you can use the back, forward, stop, refresh, bookmark button, and I think more just from the wheel. Great feature for sure. It glides so smoothly, and no pesky little ball at the bottom of the mouse to interfere. Personally I like the glowing red light at the bottom of the mouse everytime it's in use. Also, it has a lot of helpful content and offers that come with the software, which can be disabled if it gets on your nerves. Give this mouse a try. Take care.
44 The best, no frills optical mouse
If you're looking for a basic, no frills optical mouse that has a wheel, go with the Logitech Optical Mouse.

This mouse is a standard at my workplace, because:
- The price is close to a non-optical mouse with similar features
- Processes more images per second than the competition, so it's ideal for games too (other first gen optical mice lose accuracy when you move the mouse really fast and end up moving the mouse pointer in a random direction)
- Easy setup. Just plug and play.
- Very durable, stood up to constant abuse we give it.

And for the other reviewers than mention this, please don't knock this mouse because it doesn't work as well on a shiny surface. Optical mice (including this one and all the others) are not designed to work on a shiny surface, so go get yourself one of the millions of mousepads in existance that does not have this property.

45 Whats to complain about it's perfect.
Works great and I don't have to think about it, which is just what it is suppose to do.

Sometimes I lift it off the desk and then wonder why I can't move it, like I do with the balled mice and just run my finger over the ball, but that is totally my fault.

Price is fantastic! Can't go wrong with this choice!

46 What A Relief!
I've had this mouse for a year now and I still wonder why it took me so long to buy one. No longer do I have to bang or shake or clean my mouse from lint. This little device glides over nearly anything. The two buttons are customizable so you can set it to left or right hand and single click or double click (just a few of the options). The scrolling wheel is very exact and isn't noisy. There's even a nifty red flash under the mouse that lights up when you move it. It's not necessay, but it's still kind of cool. Definitely a great buy.
47 Good (with minor quirks)
I've had this mouse for about nine months, and find it great (most of the time). Good points: smooth movement, no cleaning required, looks great, very comfortable to use, both USB and PS/2 compatible, works with both Windows and Linux. Seeing the glow of the LED through the transparent sides still tickles me pink!

Some minor quirky bits: mouse pointer sometimes behaves inconsistently if used on a shiny mouse pad or mouse pad with chopped up pattern on it. When this happens, the mouse arrow suddenly jumps to another part of the screen.

Works faultlessly and very smoothly (both visually and to the feel) when used on a plain coloured, cloth topped mousepad.

48 Holds up!
I bought this mouse thinking I'd probably end up replacing it with a more expensive Microsoft optical Intellimouse... 20 bucks for an optical mouse, I figured it'd probably make it 6 months and die on me.

It's been almost 2 years...I'm still using my logitech optical 'cause it does everything I need it to! It responds well, it's comfortable to use, and I haven't had a days problem with it! The scroll wheel also makes scanning webpages and lists a lot easier.

Also, the fact it comes with a PS/2 adapter has saved me some grief (and more than a couple bucks) with my KVM switch (a switch that allows for multiple computers to hook up to one keyboard, mouse and keyboard).

If you're looking for a great little mouse that holds up really well, look no further... you've found it!

49 Excellent, inexpensive, and Mac!
Those are the three reasons that I bought this mouse, and I couldn't be happier. I got it for my iBook after my parents got one to replace their Apple Optical Mouse and my brother got one for his Dell laptop.
50 oh WOW
Who KNEW that a good quality mouse could make your life THAT much easier?! I've never had good luck with mice - until now.

Absolutely NO problems with it and we've had it for almost a year. It's the smoothest, most reliable piece of equipment we own.

If you are sick of cleaning your current mouse's roller gunk and dealing with a skipping cursor.. it's time you add this mouse to your cart (or to your Wish List!) and give yourself a break. It is absolutely worth it.

51 Easy to Install\Very Reliable
I've had my Logitech Optical Mouse for 2 years now, have used it on 2 different computers and 3 operating systems and have had a total of 0 (zero) problems. I always use the USB interface, they OS (Win98, WinME, XP Pro) instantly recognizes the mouse and it works right away.

No moving parts, so there is nothing to wear out (except the little feet pad on the bottom). The wheel works well with all of my software.

A great device for the price!

52 why pay more for more expansive mouse?
This mouse works great. no cleaning. glide just perfect over my blanket on my bed mattress. (I use it for my compaq XP laptop through USB).
it's logitech ergonomic. (grabbing feels perfect)

I'm crossing my fingers it will last me long time.(logitech mouse in the past has been really good)

very affordable. very happy.

53 Almost perfect mouse
This mouse is definitely an improvement over my previous mouse. But then my previous mouse was a generic one with the ball inside. This mouse moves smoothly but sometimes when I don't move it for a while, and then start to move it, the cursor stays put. Weird. Also, I understand it glows red when you move it since it is an optical mouse, but it blinks from time to time even when you don't move it! Does that mean "FEED ME" in optical?
54 Freedom from Cleaning
My old ball mouse was constantly getting "roller gunk". With pets in the house (the cats get on the computer desk) this was a problem. I had to clean the mouse weekly. This optical mouse has no moving parts on the bottom, so the cleaning chores are gone. It works with or without a pad, so you can free up desktop space (and keep your cats!).
55 It's perfect
I hate using those mouse pads, but my roller mouse doesn't seem to work well on my desk. With this optical mouse, I don't need a mouse pad at all!! It works great and very accurate.
56 Finally a Mouse that doesn't get Stuck! It's Great!
~ ~ * ~ ~
~ ~ Between my old beloved Macintosh, and my new PC, I must have gone through 10 Mouses (Mice?).
Each one, no matter what brand, ended up getting "stuck"- the ball inside that guides the mouse's
movement, would stop rolling smoothly. I'm willing to share some of the blame, occasionally I have
nicotine fit while working, and I know the ashes spell death to the Mouse's performance. The same problem
occurs with the sticky fingers the kids sometimes have when using the computer.

~ ~ I do a lot of amateur photo-editing. (Adobe Photoshop and less expensive, Photodeluxe are great!) This
means that having a mouse with really precise and accurate tracking is absolutely vital! I was a little
skeptical about the optical mouse, but I bought this Logitech basic optical mouse on sale.
It is wonderful. I can even notice the difference in the wonderfully precise movements when I play simple
online games like "Collapse" and "Bounce Out".

~ ~ For any work that requires precise cursor movement (Photo-editing, Illustration, fast-paced Games), this
mouse is terrific. I've had it for 2 months now. A normal mouse would have required at least 2 cleanings of
the inner ball mechanism, but the Mouse hasn't let me down yet.

I highly recommend the Logitech Optical Mouse as an inexpensive investment, which will greatly improve
the way you succeed with many of your applications. This purchase was a winner!

Update... 9 months later... It's STILL wonderful, not a single problem!!!

57 Outstanding value...
This is a wonderful deal. This mouse was effortless to install and worked perfectly out of the box. It is also very comfortable to hold. What an incredible upgrade from the oldfashioned mouse I was using! So far, this thing is working perfect and I am very satisfied. I couldnt see spending extra money when this cool little mouse does everything I need. I highly recommend this mouse!
