1 Stopped working after 5 mins of use
Hi,
I plugged it to my laptop and it showed the picture correctly for first few minutes and from then it stopped working completely. Also the batteries that were sent with the product were dead. I didnt expect this from amazon or other seller. Returned it. Wanted to give it as a gift. Called CS and was asking for a replacement. They told it would take 25 more days for the item to be shipped. I i wasnt having that much time as i was travelling to other country. Got a $15 gift card with complete refund as compensation but i would have felt much happier had they shipped another one.

2 Cheap but bad quality webcam or camera
This camera is outdated. I got it very cheap with Amazon. Only $12.99. However, you get what you pay for. The picture image and webcam image is unclear and grainy, especially in low light. Color is off and it is impossible to adjust. Since this camera quality is bad but not defective, I have to pay $5 to return it.
3 Great Internet camera
This camera has served me well as a web camera for international calls through the internet. I paid 20$ for it at the time, had no problems with it, but never tried to use it as a digital camera.
4 cheap option for neophytes
let's face it, you're not going to get a lot of camera for the money involved, but what you do get is a passable webcam which doubles as a very low-end stand alone digital camera which can be used for happy snaps in good outdoor conditions
my 9 y.o. daughter likes it, and i like the idea of giving her the chance to fire off pics indisciminately for the cost of 4 aaa batteries - a much superior option to film and processing costs for a beginner to experiment, and faster opportunity to view the images they create and encourage consideration of what does and what doesn't work technically and artistically
if you want a real digital camera then go and buy one, but you won't get it for this price; as a cheap beginner's equivalent to a very basic instamatic (with webcam capabilities as an added bonus), this is definitely worth consideration
5 Perfect webcam - NOT a digital camera
This product was NEVER meant to be an impressive digital camera. And at <$.., how could it be? As a webcam, I've found the clicksmart to be reliable with a good picture and versatile in terms of different lighting. It's a great way for me to video-conference with friends cross-country. This product is meant to be an inexpensive way to get started in the world of video over ip; if you're buying it for any other reason you will be disappointed
6 Great webcam
This is a great little webcam. Hooked right up to my PC (windows XP) without any problems. The picture clarity and frame rate are great. Also has the added benefit of acting as a stand-alone digital camera. There is no flash - but it takes pretty good images in good light.
Small footprint, simple to use, great for the price.
7 Great webcam, for the price
For the price, you can't get a better webcam than this. It's quality is basically that of any other webcam on the market. The digital camera feature is not worth bothering with, because the pictures are always blurry. The only reason I got this camera however, was for the webcam feature, and it works great. If you are looking for a webcam, this is your best bet.
8 Is it really a special Edition? In what way?
I bought this web cam in the special edition offer and i could easily observe the difference in quality between the 40$ one and this one. There is no consistency in the quality of these special edition web cams. We friends ordered 6 and there is difference in the quality of those 6 among themselves also. I could not understand in what way was this special except the price. The fact that no difference in specifications of the special edition and the normal edition was mentioned in the website is frustrating. Guys decide whether you want a low priced and low quality one or a bit higher priced and better quality one.
9 Horrible
i bought this camera off ebay and the pictures turned out very poor. the outdoor pictures were great, but the indoor pictures (even with a light as bright as a hospital light) still turned out grainy. The webcam pictures were also very very grainy and i couldn't get 1 clear picture on it.
i only recommend this camera for outdoor use. luckily, i'll be receiving an Intel Pocket PC Camera sometime today or tomorrow. THEN my pictures will come out CLEAR.
do not buy this camera.
10 Bad machine
My machine did not work. The video was black and the pictures were pixelated. I'm trying to get a refund ASAP.

11 Logitech was surely a way to Clicksmart!!
Pros: Quality web cam, smooth installation, software, basic off-line cam, Easy Installation. Lot of Photo Storage, Ease of use, Cheap, Makes a decent PC camera, Great webcam, lightweight.
Cons: Poor quality offline pics, drains batteries almost instantly, Indoor Photos Usually Blurred, Picture quality is unreliable for realistic photos, Added light needed for decent photos, Digital pictures are a bit out of focus, automatically shuts off after 30 seconds non-use.
Summary: The camera is very small and lightweight, made from a strong plastic, I admit my daughter dropped it and it was not damaged at all. I had heard nightmares about the installation process. For me, I put in the disk, it loaded perfectly and never proved to be a challenge at all. Installation took less than 5 minutes and worked fine the first time. I went through the software quickly and the program that runs the webcam/digital photo album/live video e-cards is easy to use - if you can read, you can use the program without any difficulty.
The live video feed and taping come through virtually crystal clear. For the "Creating Videos" you have three pixel size options - 160x120, 320x240, 640x480. It is as easy as setting the camera in so that your subject is in the viewer and pushing a button on the computer to tape. For Digital Pictures - you can unplug the camera and take it with you. High Resolution (352x288 pixels) allows you to take 40 pictures, Low resolution (176x144) allows 160 photos or 15 seconds of video. A timer option allows you to be in the photo as well. In Digital Camera mode you can take photos, Video or Multisnap (allows 5 photos at 1 second intervals)This camera runs on 4 aaa batteries that are not included.
The Bottom Line
This makes a better webcam than digital camera, but for those on a limited budget, it is by far better than not having a digital camera at all!
12 Logitech Clicksmart 310
A great cam for outdoor photos and easy uploading to the net, email, etc. Just click and go. Plug cam back into USB connection and your pics are automatically displayed on your pc.
As for using as a web cam or indoors, the photos tend to be grainy unless you have the PERFECT lighting everytime which means you may not get some of those memorable shots you hope for. I would recommend this cam for beginners because it is very simple to use and very inexpensive.
13 Fair quality pictures and resolution
A low end camera to be used only if you really want to take quick cam shots from your home computer. The resolution is horrible, the settings for high and low quality are only "OK".
This camera is only good if you don't really know about camera's, have THE PERFECT AMOUNT OF LIGHTING (not to much or little) and/or your just chatting on your cam.
Generally grainy images.
14 Leader in its class
I've been using the CS 310 since July 2002 and the experience has been positive. First off, it's totally inadequate as either a digital camera or a "video cam." The resolution is just not very high, and in video mode you can shoot for something like 15 seconds. The CS 310 is a webcam, and should be used as such.
As a webcam it's better than other products in its class. It offers good light sensitivity, which means it'll give you decent (even though grainy) picture quality even in a dimly lit room. The framerate is very good, unlike most other webcams in this price range. Best of all, it's auto focus and auto exposure, so you don't have to mess around with a focus ring each time you use it.
The software driver installed easily on my Windows 2000 PC. It comes with a webcam application that allows you to capture videos and still images to your PC as well as host a webcam site (for a fee). It's easy to use, but I bought the 310 to use with NetMeeting, which is a totally no-hassle operation. If you have Windows XP, you can use the 310 well with Windows Messenger and video-chat with your friends.
In short, I've been satisfied with the performance of this economic yet solid webcam, and I recommend it to you.
15 Buy if, Do not buy if...
Buy this product if you're looking for a way to do video-chats, but it does not produce very good quality pictures.
16 good
This camera works well for what I use it for. If you are serious about taking digital pictures I suggest you get a different digital camera. It's a pretty good camera and it's easy to use.
17 Poor picture quality
The picture quality of this webcam is best described as one you might expect from a low-end webcam you bought 2-3 years ago! Very disappointing and the extra features as a digital camera/video clip camera are only frills to hide this fact. With picture quality so bad, none of the extra features matter anyway.
I absolutely would recommend buyers to look at other alternatives. If you receive this as a gift, see if you can return it to the store!!

19 Very poor quality for both digicam and webcam
I got this camera yesterday. Picture quality very poor even in bright light. Forget about picture quality in indoor. Even webcam quality is not good. I have bought Micro Innovations webcam for [money] and it has much better quality than this one. I thought this one will have better quality.... I strongly recommend you not to buy this webcam.
20 you get what you pay for
Good for taking pictures of large objects that are not too far away that don't require much detail.
21 s'ok
This is another logitech webcam which doubles as a digital camera. The webcam is able to record video and still images, but NO SOUND. Although the 310 is a basic webcam model, it has one feature, it can double as a digital camera. Just unplug it, and take it away from the computer for all your eBay photographs, or other photo emergency uses when you don't have a better digital camera around. The camera holds 2Mb worth of images. You need 4 AAA batteries to turn the webcam into a digital camera. The swivel base on which the plastic webcam normally sits doubles as the docking port for downloading images from the digital camera. There is no LCD screen for you to preview images when you take them, just a simple viewfinder, so beware of parallax errors when you snap something close up.
22 Play digital camera or decent web cam
This camera is about as simple as they get. I gave this camera to my daughter who is 9 and she loves it. She has it hooked up to her E-machines Celeron Win Xp system and uses it as a web cam for yahoo IM. As a webcam it gives good images and works well (better than quickcam express USB). As a digital camera it can take 40 352 x 144 pixel photos or 160 176 x 144 pixel photos. It can also take 15 seconds of video. It runs on 4 AAA batteries as a digital camera or off the USB power as a webcam. The digital camera even has a timer and a multisnap mode that will snap off 5 shots at one second intervals. It provides a counter for the photos and battery status indicator. I would suggest going to Logitech's web site and downloading the most up to date software and installing it rather than starting with the supplied CD. Mine had ver 5.6.3 supplied but version 7 is out now. With the supplied software you can even set up the webcam to be a motion sensor camera and take shots when it senses movement. Overall it is a good cheap webcam with the option to remove it from its cradle and take some low quality snapshots. If purchased on sale with rebate it should be a good deal.
