1 Best Controller Ever
This is a beautiful controller for several reasons. I have big hands and this conforms to my hands perfectly, my hands fit to it naturally. Another thing I like is the ruggedness of the thing, it has heft and weight to it, a solid, quality feel, with quality rubbery like plastic, so it feels good to hold. It is not cheap feeling plastic like some other controllers.
I would especially recomend this for you if you have big hands like me.You won't feel as cramped as you do on the stock controller supplied with the box, also if you like things that feel solid and sturdy then this controller will be right for you.
2 wore out in less than a year
As noted by another reviewer, the rubber joystick pads wore out and were unreplaceable. After improvising with rubber bands, the controller itself then became unusable, drifting and not moving where the right joystick was pointed.
This product was great for about six months, but I cannot recommend it due to it's short life.
3 Logitech is missing the boat
Run do not walk away from the Logitech counter. When the rubber pads wore off my game pad I was willing to pay for replacement parts. Their 800 number sales line was delighted to tell me to call their toll call help line and sit on hold for 20 minutes. According to Logitech these parts are not available for replacement regardless of wether or not you wish to pay for them. This is a terrible example of customer service. Logitech has enough brand recognition apparently that it does not need new customers. I personally will never buy another Logitech product. Companies who refuse to support their products will not get my business.
4 One of the best controllers for Xbox
Logitech almost always makes great hardware, at least that is my personal opinion. Almost all of my computer peripherals (mouse, keyboard, speakers, gamepad) are from Logitech and their wireless has never disappointed me before. Again they come through in spades with a wireless controller that does not disappoint. There is no lag between pressing a button and an action happening on screen. I was also able to go from one end of my house to another, which is a good distance, and the response time was the same. Now, I know that may not be the biggest deal, but it does tell me that I will be able to sit in front of my T.V. just a few feet back and not experience any problems. Another great thing about Logitech is their warrenty, which often times does not get covered in reviews like this. I have had one piece of equipment go bad in the 7+ years I have used their hardware, and when I got to someone on the phone they were a pleasure to deal with and the return policy was great. I think that is important when deciding to purchase anything, especially when it costs a few dollars more than some of the competition. Overall, I could not be happier with the controller, or with Logitech for that matter.
5 Great at first, doesn't last long
I was very happy with the controller for the first 3 months I had it, then the left thumb pad wore down and is falling off. Then the left joystick also began to stick, and would not return to the home position. When playing halo, I can't stand still, when I let go of the joystick, it makes me slowly drift left, often falling off cliffs to my death. I would not buy this model again.
6 Love it, but...
I've had my Logitech controller for almost a year now and have used it close to 100 hours. I love it, no cords to tangle up.
The only problem that I have had is that once in a while the controller continues to vibrate and does not stop--as if the transmitter is sending the vibrate command continuously. Only then do you have to get up to unplug the transmitter and then plug it in again.
Overall, I would recommend it.
7 Great product - but lasts about 100 hours of gaming use
I loved this item when I first got it. No problems of drifting as witnessed on other wireless controllers and battery life was great. Unfortunately, my controller started to detriorate as the gaming hours went on. First to go was the left analog rubber pad, it started to wear down where my thumb was on it until eventually it came off. I took the right analog pad's rubber off since I don't use that as much and put it on the left. That gave me about a further 50 hours of play. Then the same analog stick stopped turning left. Everything else worked, but I couldn't turn left or up/down left in any game. I eventually took it apart and played with the calibration until I managed to get it working again. Since then I've had to do it 3 times. I guess I may as well throw it away and get a new one. I won't be buying this particular Logitech contoller again though. Once for casual gamers or people who like to take things apart.
8 Very pleased
I initially bought this just so I wouldn't have to untangle cords when I wanted to turn on the Xbox and do something quick. It has since become the controller I use most. I would not hesitate to buy this product again.
9 Perfect...Except For One Flaw
This controller is great. It frees you from those messy,tangle-prone wires. The controller is similar to the Japanese Xbox controller (Controller S) except that it is a little wider, and heavier. The Left/Right triggers are a little harder to press,though...
I had one problem though.I play Xbox Live a lot,and you probably know that you use a communicator headset, which plugs into the controller. There is no expansion/memory card plug-in on the controller. It's on the wireless reciever,on your Xbox. This controller is perfect for offline play,but...You know.

10 Get the "Precision" controller instead
Please note that this particular model is the first generation Logitech Xbox wireless controller. You should instead get the Logitech Cordless Precision Controller for Xbox (ASIN B0002KO9CS), which is the second generation model. The new model is a signficant improvement. You can tell the difference by the number of batteries. The old one takes four, the new one takes two.
11 Best Wireless controller money can buy
I got this controller last xmas and I have to say it is perfect in every sense of the word. I have two large dogs so with no cord no worry they will trip and bring down my xbox. The battery life is pretty darn good. I play madden alot, probably 2 to 4 hours at a time some time longer and I have gone at least 75hrs with out having to change the batteries. Granted with 4 batteries it is a little heavier but I do not think it is that noticable. I have never had an problems with mine other than I ahd to buy a new one when My rottie ate the one I got for xmas. So it is not doggie proof. Overall I would rate this as the best wirless controller out there. I have two of them.
12 Never realized how nice cordless could be.
The unit works. It never misses a keystroke, and the feel and precision are the same as a standard control. The extra weight of the cordless controller over the standard controller is satisfying in the same way holding a baseball is more comfortable and re-assuring than holding a wiffle ball. You can throw both but will feel more control with the baseball.
Gone are the coils of cable to gather at the end of a session. Gone is pulling the controller cable out of the Xbox when I go for the little extra body english to make a tackle or accelerate through a turn, and most importantly, gone is the inevitable tripping over a wire when heading to the kitchen or bathroom for a break.
When the batteries are going dead, the controller dies slowly. The triggers go flaky followed by the joysticks and buttons. The first time this happened, I thought I was losing my touch, but I always look to blame anyone but myself. Fresh batteries proved that the equipment was to blame. :)
For online players, there is the issue of headsets. Since the headsets for XBox Live go through a controller's memory slots and the memory slots for this controller are in the transmitter attached to the Xbox, using this controller will force you to use a regular controller, get headsets with a long cable, or sit very close to the television, but I haven't played a game that used headsets in online games yet so I don't have any experience with this.
I don't plan on using a corded controller again.
13 Works perfectly
My Xbox is a bit further away from my seat than the standard controller cable reaches. I picked up the Logitech wireless controller to use instead. It took a couple minutes to get it working the first time, but after that it's worked flawlessly. I have not had any problems with drift or interference. It is a bit heavier than a regular controller, but not enough to be a problem. The thumbsticks have nice textured grip on them, and all of the buttons high quality. The layout is slightly different than the standard controllers, but not in a bad way.
14 Great battery performance and no lag, but...
This controller was the first third-party controller I've ever purchased so maybe I'm not familar with life expectancy of these products. I bought it about one year ago using an employee discount, and it was very impressive initially. The battery life is around 50+ hour with energizer or duracell (that's with twin rumble motors going full speed the whole time). As I said there is no lag at all, and if you experience lag then your controller is probably either defective or hitting some interference. Though this controller is heavy (four AA batteries) the ergonomics make it fairly comfortable; however, the plastic "bulges" around both trigger put too much pressure on my middle fingers after a few hours. Taking regular breaks will usually solve comfort problems. The biggest complaint I have about my controller is that the thumbsticks have worn out. I put 400+ hours on this thing so maybe it's supposed to wear out, but for $70.00 it shouldn't. After the first 100 hours or so, the left thumbstick would stick to the right. This means that even when I'm not touching the thumbstick, the character on screen would be slowly walking to the right. Now the right thumbstick fails to register when I move it to the right softly--I have to really ram it--and the left thumbstick sometimes fails to register a left command. Both thumbstick have serious play or "wobble" in them. Maybe the controller was only supposed last a few hundred hours, but that seems like a short time to me.
15 First Wireless! A Five star hit!!
This is the first wireless controller that I have tried. I have not noted any of the drift problems that have been mentioned. It has been used by me and by my 7 year old. We have been using it for about two weeks. We have not run into any trouble. We love it!!
16 Great...except for two joystick problems
This cordless controller is absolutely top of the line, except for the joysticks. As other reviewers have mentioned, if you play games on a regular basis, then the pad on the left joystick will wear off in a few months (the right one will probably wear off too, but I hardly ever use it). Also, Logitech put a green plastic covering just under the joystick pads, ostensibly to keep dust and dirt from getting inside the controller. That's a great idea, but the first thing to go on my joystick was the green plastic. The plastic under the left joystick broke and the little pieces that I was unable to pick out sometimes interfered with the joystick movement. This problem really isn't any big deal, however, because it didn't take long for the pieces to fall out.
I haven't noticed any problem with re-centering. I also have never experienced a lag problem.
Except for the joystick issues, which are really more of an annoyance than anything else, the Logitech cordless is a great product.
17 3 stars
I was extremely hesitant to buy this because of the negative reviews , in particular, the rubber grips on the analog sticks. After feeling these grips on my fingers, I can understand how they could wear out with heavy gameplay, but I usually play not more than an hour or two a day. I must say that for the price, if my grips wear out i'd be pissed as hell. The controller feels really good in my hands, it might be heavy for some but i didnt mind that at all. The only drawback I have noticed is the start and the back button are placed way out of reach, but during a game I hardly use them anyways, however the black and white button are much more reachable than in the other control, making it a lot easier to hit combos and special moves. The rubber grips on the analog sticks are very comfortable but they feel flimsy. There is no lag whatsoever , you would not be able to differentiate the difference between this controller and the standard one. Most people might find the price ($60 US or $90 Canadian) a real hindrance, but my place looks so much better without wires and chics really dig it. Overall, I'd recommend this controller to anyone, I am very satisfied so far. I would have given this 5 stars if the price were a bit better.
Amendment: ok, its now Jan 2005, about 4 months into owning this thing, the right analog stick for some reason keeps sliding down, which makes presicion aiming and special moves very difficult at the least...luckily i got a one year warranty (I paid a few extra at EB games for this) so they'll replace it with the newer model. My suggestion is that you dont get this online...get it from a store and purchase the extended warranty, trust me...it'll save you both time and money.
18 Good, but whats up with the lag?
It is a great feel and grip, but in halo, sometimes the aimer wants to wander aimlessly.. some interfearance but i cant pinpoint it..
19 Great Controller
I bought this used and plaed for no telling how many hours with it. The batteries last a long time even with constant use of the vibration option. There are only two things that I didn't like. One is that 1 out of 50 times that the vibration is engaged by the game, it doesn't stop until another "vibration" occurs. The other is that I'm big into getting something if it's wireless, therefore most of what I own is. If you have a wireless router and are transfering large files over it; therefore going top speed; this controller will not work until the file(s) is completed. Also be sure that your phone is not 2.4 gig as when you are on it, problems will occur.
20 This Product is great
I think that this is the best controller that i havae ever used. The controller is better than one with a wire. The only thing that has given me problems is the rumble pack.WHat happens every once in a while is that the controller starts rumbling for about a minute, but hat has only happened once or twice. Other than that this is the best product that I have ever bought from microsoft, other than the XBOX console.
21 Rubber topped thumbsticks will wear out. No replacements!
I love these controllers, don't get me wrong. I would have given the controller a 5 star rating a couple months ago. Read on.
They are a little larger than the standard "S" controller, so they take some getting used to. Just like the "S" controllers, they become 2nd nature as you play more and more.
Button placement seems fine to me in all the games I've played.
I have experienced no lag times. Play is no different than being wired. For the high cost of these controllers, that was expected.
Battery life is better than expected. I believe they are rated at 50hrs per set of batteries, but we have found they go much longer. We use rechargeables which work well.
The only con that I can think of (and it's a big one) is that the thumbsticks have soft rubber tops that are a slip-on type, fitting snugly over the joysticks.
They have a good feel and provide a firm grip. But, as several people have noted in the Logitech discussion forums, and I have experienced personally, these rubber pads wear out. They simply start falling apart. They disintegrate.
My attempt at getting new pads through customer support were replied with "return the controller to the point of purchase" and if that's not an option "return them to Logitech". No good for me since I purchased online and now they're the only controllers I own.
Logitech does not offer replacement pads.
Why not!? I don't know. They slip on and off easily. Seems they should be able to sell replacements.
Our controllers were purchased about 3 months ago and get what I would call "medium usage".
With no replacement pads available, soon they will get "no usage".
For the high price of these controllers, I thought I would 1. Get a better product. 2. Get better customer service - ie: replaceable parts that are prone to wear.

23 Good product, bad support
I was excited when I purchased this controller a few months ago, dishing out $80 for it. The controller is great and I have never had any problems with communication between the controller and the XBox. The feel of the controller is comfortable and everything is well placed, except for the SELECT and START buttons. Since these aren't used that often, it's ok that they are out of your reach. The main complaint that I have about this product is that the rubber grip on the analog stick will quickly deteriorate with consistent use. I noticed strange black 'shavings' on the controller, and before I knew it the grip was falling off. I've contacted Logitech on this issue, and they told me I would have to send the whole controller back to be replaced. Since this occurred in less than a month (I play a lot of games) I wasn't looking forward to sending in my controller every month to be replaced. At $80, this product would have gotten 1 star. Since the price dropped, (and perhaps they fix the rubber grip wear?) I have given this product 3 stars.
24 Mr. Torres is correct
Indeed the controller is incredible for what it does...it allows people like my sister, Ignacious, and Brett to walk right in front of me while I'm playing and they won't trip. It reacts very quickly and seems wired, but after playing with Mr. Torres' three controllers, I have noticed a thumbstick issue. I too play car games (NFS UNDERGROUND!!! Wassup!! It's so money and it don't even know it!) and the wall crashing is a pain...Also, the pad for the thumbstick seems to have worn out quite a bit...YO LOGITECH...where can I get a replacement pad, kid? May wanna recall the joystick issue...
25 Almost pleased me a around
Being a wireless radio controller i bought it as soon as i saw it.
in fact, so far i have three of them, all the features boasted certainly are done well by it. Except one thing which seems to be a recuring theme in the reviews. I too am having problems with the left thumbstick and judging by others insightful reasoning above it only seems logical what they said. i play mainly car games and its most annoying when i scrape a wall unwillingly due to the thumbstick not recentering right. Be warned!! the controller might have a mind of its own!!!
26 This controller is fanfriggintastic
I got this as a xmas present and I have to say it is one very comfortable controller. Slightly larger and heavier than the controller S and yet more attractive the original controller that Microsoft originally designed. I have had this for a few hours and have experienced no major problems so far. Easy to grip and get the feel of you'll forget that you are even holding it even with the extra weigh from the batteries (which isn't really even that noticable). However the controller isnt without its flaws even though they are extremely minor for me at least they are
1.Start and back buttons are oddly placed that the top and slightly far apart from one another.
2.The memory card slot and expansion slot are now intergrated into the receiver (ok this one isn't really a flaw for me at least but it might be for some people.
Logitech have outdone themselves and created a comfortable well designed cordless controller. Yes this is on the expensive side but I see it as complete freedom from wires that can get tangled and knotted. This is recommedned to anyone who might be thinking about investing in a wireless controller its money well spent.
27 Flawless wireless function, but flaws as a controller
In terms of its wireless functionality, the cordless controller is flawless. There is no lag or any other indication that you are not actually wired to the Xbox.
Unfortunately, that quality isn't matched by the controller itself. Although only a bit larger than the S Controller, the cordless controller is much heavier. This is in large part due to the four AA batteries it requires, but it becomes noticeable as you play for a while. For marathon gaming sessions, this is not the controller of choice.
The controller also has some functionality issues. The digital pad is imprecise; frequently you hit left and get left-up, for example. The analog sticks have a little drift in them, too, pulling toward the left even after you center them--this is not a terribly big deal unless you tend to actually release the stick (and the sticks on Microsoft's S Controller tend to pull up in my experience, so it's rather a wash there).
I got this controller so I wouldn't be sitting on the floor playing games and wouldn't have extension cords strung all the way to the couch. For that purpose, it's fine, even with its shortcomings. But the product leaves me with the nagging feeling that it could and should have been a lot better.
28 This is a good controller
I previously owned the Lynx Mad Catz (3 different ones acutally). The problem with the Lynx model was the thumbstick controllers would lose accuracy after several months of use. For instance, I would push the thumbstick to the limit and the game would react is if the thumbstick was moved only a small amount from the center. One of my games has a controller callibration screen where you can see the signal being sent from the controller thumsticks. Using this screen I could see the Lynx controller was very inconistent. I've had my logitech controller for about 4 months and it is still working flawlessly. On my callibration screen, it is the most accurate controller compared to the Lynx and the Microsoft s. I was worried that the logitech thumbsticks would not be easy to use due to the shape. It turns out that the rubber used on the thumbsticks gives your thumb a good grip and there is no issue with the shape. The triggers are a little too sensitive. They will sometimes fire when they are touched accidentally.
29 NOT BAD AT ALL...The BEST of the WIRELESS !!!
The wireless funciton is unbeatable...There's NEVER any lag in the function and I love that about this controller. It has been nice to be wireless, too. However, I have had a problem with it. The left stick makes an annoying clicking sound. Since this is the primary option to move people and steer cars, it is a huge bummer for me. It also would send a continuous signal, with that same stick, making the car, or person I was playing, to keep moving to the left or right for several seconds. This is not good because by the time the game stopped receiving the wrong signal I was either dead or had crashed the car. For those reasons I returned the controller, which Amazon.com has made very easy to do and I thank them for that. I probably just received a faulty controller and not all of them do this.
Overall...This controller is flawless in its wireless capabilities and I probably just got a bad one in regards to the problems I had with mine.
30 Bye Bye Cords
It is great to get rid of the cord which always seems to be in a tangled mess. Controller feels good in the hand. I have noticed that the rocker button sometimes does not track true but this is a minor problem. At the price of [price] with free shipping don't wait.
31 Hmmm not as good as I thought!
Ok the controllers wireless functions are superb you really cant tell you are not wired to the console. Something to note if your a hardcore gamer though after only 4 weekends of play the left thumbstick has started to make a weird noise when it is pushed to the right, the stick actually feels really flimsy compared to the left one I was wary about it from the getgo. Another problem is the digital pad stinks if you push up you usually get a diagonal up not very good in a gameplay situation at all.
32 Class act for controller
I know the first thing you think of when you see wireless and gaming is latency. There is none. This controller operates flawlessly. I can now sit back on my couch and enjoy my triumphs with Kano in Mortal Kombat, and the Madcat in MechAssault in perfect comfort. No dog to chew the cord. It sits on my coffee table next to the remotes. The only complaint I have is there is no way to run my xbox live headseat on it. But it's a small price for such a quality product.
