Logitech Cordless Optical Mouse for Notebooks - Silver ( 931006-0403 )

Compras Nikon
Bluetooth
Here's the mouse designed from the ground up for people on the go.

Logitech's Cordless Optical Mouse for Notebooks expertly combines an elegant, compact shape with the advanced features that mobile warriors require. With its convenient carrying case, it's easy to pack it up and take it anywhere. When you're ready to use it, just pop the sleek USB receiver into your notebook and start pointing, clicking, and scrolling. Logitech's Fast RF cordless technology delivers all the convenience and freedom of cordless, with no compromise in performance. And because it's optical, you can use it on almost any flat surface and never clean a mouse ball ever again.

1 desktop features, notebook portability
i bought this mouse a few months back and it has been great to say the least. the receiver picks up your every movement precisely, it is a sturdy very well made mouse (have dropped it twice already on tile floor). the battery life is great, thanks to the auto-shutoff feature it has. Of course you also get the on/off switch. the case it comes with is also very high quality (although i use it to store my ipod, not the mouse). logitech is a great, reliable company and they have come through once again with this mouse. by the way i did try out the microsoft equivalent and not only did it feel very cheap, but it did not pick up my movement quite as nicely as the logitech. would definitely recommend!
2 very uncomfortable
the mouse looks very nice, and it is compact, at beginning you do not feel too much, but as time going on it feel heavier and heavier, and you have to try to use some strength to click the button.

overall not recommond to buy it.
3 Does not work properly with Mac OS X
I bought this mouse to replace the Apple Pro Mouse, which finally died after 5 years (that was my favorite mouse despite the one button). I settled on the Logitech mouse after searching far and wide for a comfortable cordless mouse with a scroll wheel. This mouse is definitely comfortable for my small hands. The tracking and scrolling are smooth, not jumpy like the Kensington mice. It was smooth even without a mousepad. The buttons have a soft-sounding click. The left button requires slightly more pressure to click.

The problem is the current mouse driver - Logitech Control Center version 1.4.1. Although Mac OS X has built-in support to control the tracking and scrolling speeds, if you want to program the buttons then you must install Logitech's driver. I like to program the scroll button 'click' as the Back button for web browsing. When installed, the driver controls how the buttons behave and the scrolling speed, but not the tracking speed. You must continue to use the Keyboard & Mice preference pane to set the tracking speed. Whenever you restart the computer (and this will happen sooner or later), the setting for tracking speed disappears, so the tracking will revert to the default (very) fast speed. To counter this, you will have to keep resetting the tracking speed. Logitech is aware of this problem but has not fixed it since Panther was released. So regardless of which Logitech mouse you use, if you have to use the driver under Mac OS X, then the mouse will not work properly. I'll be returning this mouse and will have to find a different brand cordless mouse to use with my iMac.
4 Great mouse for the iBook
I got this mouse for my iBook and it is amazing. The on/off switch is a real plus, and three buttons give you a lot of options (like, for instance, I use the middle click for the expose function, which helps out a lot) The reciever works great and recognizes the mouse without any delay and there hasn't been any lag while using it.

A+ mouse for your laptop

And, one other cool feature is the bag that comes with the mouse. It has a little slot for the usb reciever to go in, so everything is well padded and compact. Excellent design!
5 poorly designed
I have broken the rf reciver (plugs into USB port)twice! If you accidently or intentionally put your notebook down at a 45 degree angle and the receiver is plugged into the back ... it's all over for that receiver. I have since noticed that other companies are putting a hindge on the receiver in order to minimize the problem. Logitech seems to be oblivious of the competition.
6 handy but for buttons
Very handy except the buttons are too hard to push. Definitely not the smooth, effortless clicking of the MS or other countless less expensive mice. Thus I am disappointed.
7 Great for laptop and desktop use; Windows, Mac, and Linux.
There isn't anything bad I can say about this mouse.

The reception is great. I have the receiver plugged into the back of my computer and the mouse works from 7.5 feet away. I've never had to use the connect button. I own two of them and they work fine no matter how close.

The weight is good. A mouse can only be so light when it has 2 AA batteries in it.

It's compatible with Windows, MacOS, and Linux. Most of the time you can just plug it in and start working.
8 Great for travel, not great for office/home use
My only problem with this mouse is the receiver. For other optical mice (including other mice offered by Logitech), the receiver is attached to a cord and can be moved around for optimal reception. The receiver for this mouse plugs directly into the computer (no cord), so the only way to re-position it is to move your computer. If you are using a docking station in a small work area with limited flexibility in positioning the station, you may have difficulty getting this mouse to work (I definitely do). Another problem is that the Connect button is on the receiver, which is plugged into the back of the docking station and very awkward to reach. Although my UBS ports are stacked and all are in use, I did not have a problem with the receiver being too wide (as one reviewer did). But you do have to remember to plug this into the top UBS port, otherwise good luck trying to reach the Connect button.

When the mouse is working, it works great! The size is great, it is the right weight, and it is very responsive. It also has an On/Off switch, which is a real battery saver (I think this may be the only Logitech cordless mouse that has an On/Off switch and it is the main reason I purchased this model). I do wish it had an auto-off feature, but no one seems to offer that. If my clothes iron can have an auto-off feature, why can't my mouse?

So, on the road, when I am not using my docking station, this is a great mouse. But I'm going to have to buy a different model for when I'm in the office, using my docking station.

9 Heavy
I liked almost everything about this mouse. It was a convenient size, worked very smoothly with no delay, had a handy on-off switch to save batteries, a travel pouch, and the USB transmitter was fairly small. So what's not to like? In my opinion this mouse felt like a lead weight. It's personal preference, as I've seen the heaviness referred to as "a good weight," but if you like your mouses light this one's not for you.
10 good mouse
This is a mouse designed for laptop computers, but yet it's not too small to make you feel uncomfortable. The only problem I have is that the receiver is just a tad too thick. This is a problem for me as my computer only has two USB ports and they are "stacked" instead of being next to each other.
11 Nice little mouse
LIKES
1) No wires!! finally.. less clutter
2) So far my batteries have lasted a long time (past 1.5 months now)
3) ON/OFF switch
4) Price was great (20$ w/ rebate)
5) Just the right size. Small enough for the bag yet not too small for the hands (I have big hands)
6) Comes with a nice soft pouch

DISLIKES
1) Left button feels a little stiffer then the right button
2) USB receiver is a little long and kinda gets in the way when plug into the back of my laptop
3) Only 2 buttons (wish it was like my Intellimouse)
4) No auto-off, would be nice if they had this along w/ the ON/OFF switch

12 Excellent mouse for notebooks
I received this mouse for my IBM T40 laptop for Christmas and am very happy with it. It is small enough to work great for mobility reasons yet robust enough to be put through the everyday tasks as a wired mouse even on a heavy business day. I'm running WinXP SP1 and installation was as easy as plugging in the receiver and following the prompts. As you can see by most of the other reviews, this is a great mouse and will meet your needs.
13 Must have for any mobile user
This mouse is absolutely fantastic! The silver color nicely matches my Dell laptop (also available in Black, Blue, and Red) and it has nice quality "look and feel" to it. This product comes with two parts, the mouse and the receiver.

The receiver is about the size of a USB key, or maybe a bit smaller than your thumb. It does stick out from your laptop, but a little bit of awareness will prevent you from snapping it off. It is really not an issue unless you move your laptop around alot while you are using this device. It plugs into any open USB port, either 1.1 or 2.0. I have 2 USB ports one on top of the other, and the receiver is thin enough where it doesnt block the other port, as long as whatever you put in the other port isnt big either. I use a "Kensington PocketHub USB 2.0 Compact 4-Port Hub", which has a slim plug as well, in the 2nd port when i need to add additional USB items. I don't know what the maximum range of the receiver is, but as far away as i can sit and still reach the keyboard, it works just fine. The receiver uses the same "Fast RF" technology found in other Logitech mice, so performance is top notch (same or better than corded). It also doesn't interfere with an MX700 I have nearby on my desktop computer.

The 3-button mouse is useable by both righties and lefties. It is slightly smaller than a regular mouse, but bigger than most other notebook mice, so you don't have to "get used to it", and you can use it for long periods of time without getting annoyed by it. The optical sensor is accurate and works on any flat surface. I've even used on it my sofa without a hitch (the ultimate in comfort and laziness!). Their is a nice weight to it with the batteries installed. At first, I was a little concerned about using AA-batteries, but I've had this mouse going on 2 months and I havent had to replace them yet (altho i do have a spare set in my bag, just in case). The ON/OFF switch (which I forget to use sometimes) is a big help here, I'm sure.

Installation was a snap. I put the receiver in the USB port and Windows XP recognized it and installed itself in about a minute. I turned on the mouse (didn't have to hit the "Connect" buttons) and started using it right away. I would recommend installing the MouseWare software from Logitech as it adds a few tabs on the mouse properties screen (such as battery life, etc) that aren't otherwise accessible. The software however isn't necessary for use.

So, a long story short, this is a great mouse with good size, weight, performance, portability, and ease of use. My only suggestion for a change is that I wish it had more buttons, but currently none of the other notebook mice available have them either.
14 Buy this product !!!!
Before having this product, I used to have a retractable cord + Optical Mouse, which was very small and confortable but after a few weeks of pulling the cord, it breaks. Now after my new Logitech cordless mouse, I can use it with the laptop without any cable around and practically on any surface. The instalation was literally plug and play no software instalation or drivers required. Windows XP recognized the mouse quickly.

15 Works with Apple eMac
Works with Apple eMac. Easy to set up: put the transmitter in a USB outlet and load the batteries in the mouse. Does not require reboot or changing any system settings. Optical tracking works very well on most surfaces.
16 big let down
I am an architect, so I need a mouse for my laptop that is wireless and has a scrolling button. this mouse was great at first - if not a little pricey ($45 at the time)but after about four months it started going on the fritz. at first I could give it a shake or adjust the batteries, but it became more and more difficult to keep it working consistantly. it tended to be very slow to react - and since it has no ball I knew that it didn't need that kind of cleaning. I've tried to take it apart to clean the lense, but even after the four screws come out, it's still locked together. I did that twice today, but it's officially dead after a measley 8 months. I depend on my mouse for my work, and because fo this I doubt I'll be consciously buying another logitech product any time soon.
17 Great Little Mouse
This is a great little mouse. It fits my palm comfortably and doesn't take up too much room in the bag. It has an off switch to minimize battery use. It operates to around 20 feet, making it handy for presentations. Keep one handy.
18 Absolutely perfect!
I have gone through several mouses, in search of the perfect one that would complement my ultra portable notebook. For your money's worth, this is the best portable mouse. It's very light, cordless, and has a great battery life. It also has the right size; not too small, not too big.
19 Good Deal
This is a good deal and would strongly recommend ppl to buy this for their laptop/notebooks
20 Perfect notebook mouse!
This mouse is a perfect compliment for my Dell notebook. I have used this mouse daily for about 9 months now and have not had any problems. I play online FPS games and the mouse has not let me down. I have not experienced any sort of lag or reception problems. Battery life is decent. The on/off switch is very useful as it can save some life of your batteries. In the 9 months that I have used the mouse I have had to change the batteries 3 times. Great product at a great price! The only improvement that I can think of is that the mouse could use a couple of side buttons.. would be convenient when playing CS and UT2004.
21 This mouse is awesome!
The mouse works smoothly and accurately. It fits well in my hand. The ergonomics is perfect. The wireless covers a wide range. The mouse works well even when it is 2 meters from the receiver (I didn't try to move it farther away). So there's no problem with my T42 whose usb slot is on the left side.

I am not critical about my mouse. Anyway, I don't need very accurate control on my cursor. So I can't judge if the mouse suits the needs of those who demands a very accurate control because I never know how accurate it has to be. But I think if you just wish to use it for the everyday pointing and clicking, the mouse is perfect for you, especially when considering how low the price is (...)
22 Excellent value and superb performance...
Value:

1. Comes with a neoprene case to store the USB transmitter and the mouse
2. Runs on standard batteries...no charging or issues with reduced charging capacity over time
3. Has been running off the original batteries for almost 3 months despite being left "on" many times
4. Has an "off" switch to save battery life
5. The "package" is priced at around $30

Performance:

1. Tracks smoothly on most common surfaces
2. Has great range...Logitech RF technology delivers!
3. Has a "solid", quality feel to it...I've tried several similar mice for road warriors and most felt cheaply made when used.
4. Unlike some users, I have not experience any performance issues with the buttons or the roller. I think it helps to adjust the settings for the mouse in the control panel.

For basic "mouse functionality", I feel this is the best value to come along in a long time. It's wireless, optical and performs like a champ. It doesn't have lots of whistles and bells, but what it promises it delivers solidly. Some readers have commented on the size...well, I'm 6' 2" and have relatively long fingers. The smaller or "tiny" travel mice were nothing if not annoying from my experience. Buy it...you won't be disappointed!!!
23 Way better than a corded mouse
I used to use a Targus notebook mouse and that thing was tiny! It was kinda neat for awhile but got annoying for extended use. I didn't want a full size mouse since I was going to be carrying and transporting it frequently. This Logitech mouse is just about the perfect size. The left click button is not quite perfect and takes a little time to get used to but that is the only flaw and does keep it from getting 5 stars. The receiver is about the size of a USB thumb drive and both the mouse abd receiver fit into the carrying case with the receiver fitting into its own divider. Nice touch! The mouse has a power switch which is great for saving battery life but the original battery is still going strong even after a few times when I have forgotten to turn off the mouse. Good enough wireless range even with my USB port in the back of my notebook.

Overall, worth it for the price and would definitely recommend.
24 very uncomfortable!!!
I have a siliver one. It's very hard to do clicking and bad for people to need to use mouse for long time. After I used it for a day, my back, right arm and right hand figures started hurting.
25 Great overall, but the wireless could be stronger.
Overall, I really like this mouse. The case is great, with that nifty little divider, so you don't scratch anything, and the size is perfect. A back button would be nice, but not to be expected, as most notebook mice don't have them.

It works pretty well overall, but I am having some small issues with it, using it with my IBM ThinkPad T42. The ThinkPad has the USB ports on the left side, and I am right handed. With the antenna sticking out of that side, it provides just enough reception to be useful. When I start migrating the mouse away from the ThinkPad, it starts to lose it's responsiveness STRONGLY.

Everything about it is great, but I wish the reception was a little better. If I add a little USB extension cable, and bring the antenna over to the mouse, it works GREAT, but if I have to do that, I might as well use a corded mouse.

Overall, I'm going to keep it and keep using it. But, the UltraNav system on the ThinkPad is awesome, so I won't miss the mouse if I ever decide not to use it.

I guess I would recommend it overall, but if your USB port is on the wrong side, maybe consider something else.
26 A *BANG* Up Job On A Mouse!
My husband bought this mouse for me to go along with my new laptop, excuse me... "Notebook"~ We bought it on sale at CompUSA. What a deal! We brought it home and didn't have to change the batteries for about three months. (Those are the Duracell Alkalines it came with) Keep in mind... I have two children and wound up forgetting about the mouse... leaving it on and such. (The mouse has the option to turn off, to save battery life) I have already mentioned I am a woman... sooo... needless to say it has gotten very abused. VERY... and I'm using the word ABUSED here. Dropped... Dropped and hit a wall... Dropped, hit table, hit floor. Dropped, Dropped, Dropped... And it still works like it did when we first whipped it out of the package! My husband told me I needed to write a review for this thing. Logitech did an AWESOME job on this mouse. I love it... my husband loves it... and our floor loves it, since that's where it spends a lot of time~ :) What a great mouse! The only beef I have with it, is the connector to the *Notebook*, it sticks out and I hit it a lot. My genious (being serious) husband CREATED a flexible extender for it, now at least I won't damage the notebook. :) How lucky am I?! :) To simplify, I am going to add... I beat the crap out of this mouse... and it still works great. You're welcome.
27 I am in love with it!
I am absolutely in love with this mouse. I bought it to use with a laptop 2 month ago. I was a little afraid that it would not meet my expectations. But the mouse has exceeded them. It works on any surface, always reliable. No problems at all. After two months, batteries work very well, it looks like they don't need to be changed. The mouse has a very convenient case for the mouse itself and for the receiver. Great buy!
28 Awesome Notebook Mouse
I recently bought this mouse from Amazon.com. It arrived fast and better than expected. I also own a optical mouseman cordless which is for my desktop pc. This one is far better. It came with a nice neoprene case to store the usb antenna and the mouse. The response is great and you can move the pointer arount faster than using the touch pad. Even if you adjust the touch pad at the fastest speed the mouse is faster and smoother. The on and off switch is a great help to save those batteries also. This is the best cordless mouse I seen and used for a notebook. Size and weight is perfect. Not too small but just right. 2 Thumbs up to Logitech!
29 Good mouse but BenQ M310 is better
I bought this mouse in January 2004 when it retailed for $40 and was only available in one color. Overall, it's an excellent mouse with good battery life and good ergonomics. Like all Logitech mice, tracking has been absolutely perfect. The scroll wheel is one of the best I've ever used but the buttons are a little too stiff.

The only issue I have with the Logitech mouse is that it's not very compact. In fact, it's about the same size as Logitech's first generation optical mouse (the Optical Wheel Mouse that you can still find in stores) but thicker. The receiver is about the size of a USB memory drive and really sticks out when you put it into a laptop.

Since August 2004, I've switched to a BenQ M310. This is a similar cordless travel mouse but is 2/3rds the size and lighter. The receiver is also smaller and actually stores inside the mouse when not in use, a really neat feature that Logitech should incorporate into future models. The M310 is also around $5-$10 cheaper. The sensor is not quite as good however.

In my opinion, if you want a small mouse for travel or just to use on an everyday basis, you should seriously look into the M310 over this mouse. It's cheaper, smaller, and fits the role better. However, you won't be unhappy buying the Logitech either.
30 Heavy and Less Accurate Mouse with Bulky USB Receiver
I have used Logitech mouse for a long time and I currently own several Logitech mice for three home computers including two laptops. I have to say that I am not a big fan of "wireless" mouse made by Logitech-not yet at least. This particular model is heavy with two AA batteries and considerably less accurate than wired mouse. Furthermore, the USB receiver of this mouse is a bit bulky and blocks the adjacent USB port of my Dell laptop. Instead of this model, I strongly recommend Logitech Notebook Optical Mouse Plus (931073-0403)--small wired mouse. I am happy with this light and accurate wired mouse with sleek USB connector that never blocks the other USB port. Also, portability is a lot better than the wireless mouse.
31 Not Good
At the beginning I thougt it was good, but in time I found out
that the RF communications did not work well. Very often the mouse did not obey a click and other times two click open two folders or windows. Finally I got tired of the problems and I came back to the normal mouse with cord.It was not the problem
of fixing the time of the click's mouse. It simple do not work well. My recomendation to the company is to improve the RF communications.
32 Perfect
In every way. Battery level indicator, scroll wheel, accuracy, size, you name it... it's good.
33 The top choice for notebooks, hands down!
I recently purchased a laptop for college and decided that the most important peripheral for making a smooth transition from desktop to laptop would be a good wireless mouse. Logitech, of course, is the premier mouse manufacturer (outstanding quality, great customer support, etc.), but they offer so many different mice! I was seriously tempted by the Logitech MX700, but I realized that that particular model used a wireless receiver that plugs into a USB port and is placed on a desktop -- not very wireless, after all!

If you're going to get a wireless mouse, make it truly wireless! The Cordless Optical Mouse for Notebooks has a USB adapter. It seems to be sturdily built. It also does not require a direct line-of-sight to the mouse in order to achieve maximum reception; I can use it on my desktop (with USB ports only in the way back) and get flawless mousing from 4 feet away!

To top it off, I didn't even need to insert the included Logitech Mouseware CD. I simply plugged in the USB adapter, and voila: the new mouse is up and running (thanks to Windows XP, of course).

Only caveat? It would probably be a good idea to run this mouse on rechargeable Nimh batteries, which, incidentally, I have been having a hard time tracking down. Nonetheless, the On-Off switch probably enables acceptable battery life with regular AAs.
34 Near Perfect
Super product-
easy install
up and running in a few minutes (reboot required on my computer)
just as responsive as a corded mouse
good feel in the hand
small enough for travel
no ball to gum up
good range
doesn't interfere with wireless LAN
very reasonably priced
nice button click/sound and smooth wheel function
quality feel all around
good bye lame laptop mouse!

35 Logitech you've done it again!
This mouse is a great laptop mouse. Before this i got a targus mouse which had a few technical difficulties so i got this mouse. This mouse is small, easy to install, and it is a plud in and play mouse...unlike other mice when you hafta restart the computer. This is the best wireless mouse for the best price
36 Best mouse I've ever owned.
(Revision: after a while, a mechanical problem developed when I didn't fully lift my finger off a mouse click and it thought the click was complete. This lead to many misclicks, inappropriate double-clicks, and other problems. Still a great mouse... you can't avoid problems in one out of a million mice).

This mouse is by far the best accessory I have for my laptop. There are a lot of reviews citing the USB connector as too stiff or sticking out too much, but let me tell you: it is better than the bulky connectors other manufacturers make. Here are my other comments, in list form:

1. The mouse is stylish and solid. With the batteries in it is a nice weight and doesn't feel flimsy.

2. Battery life. I use two rechargeable AA batteries that I have not charged since I bought the mouse about a month ago. The on/off switch on the bottom is a great feature. I had to get used to the concept of turning my mouse off when I wasn't using it, but once I did I realized I was saving battery life with little effort.

3. The cordless receiver and the mouse fit great into the included carrying case; one of the best features of this mouse for people on the run.

4. The range is great. Once you go to a cordless mouse, especially this one, you will never go back to one with a cord.

5. Setup was a snap. I never touched any drivers on any computer. After less than a minute of detection in Windows XP it worked without a hitch. When I connected it to my PowerMac with Mac OS X, it worked within seconds. Truly seamless.

6. Great laptop accessory. I bought a desktop replacement (17" screen) laptop computer because I needed performance, processor power, and graphics precision. It is hard to do graphics with the included touch pad, but as soon as I plug in this mouse, I have an instant mobile desktop. It enhances mobile performance with a smile.

In summary, I haven't bought any other cordless mice to compare because I don't need to. If you get this mouse, you won't regret it.

37 No Regrets, Excellent Cordless Mouse!
Great accessory to have for laptop users. I have used this mouse with my laptop for approximately 3 weeks now. I chose a wireless laptop mouse because it means that there is one less cord in the way.

Pro's:
1. Logitech is a name that you can trust. I expect no manufacturing defects or problems. It feels like a quality product.
2. Works on a number of surfaces.
3. Great battery power. This mouse is not a power hog. The on and off switch, located on the bottom of the mouse is a great feature. I have yet to change the batteries out yet.
4. Excellent wireless performance. I have had no issues with the mouse not performing because it is wireless. Unless you expect to use your laptop from more than 3 feet away (which pretty much means you wont be able to see the text on the monitor), you shouldnt have any problems.
5. Convenient travel pouch where you can store the USB receiver and the mouse.
6. Perfect size - the mouse is not too small, and not too big. Instead of being awkward and taking time to get used to, a person can use it right away.

Con's:
1. USB dongle sticks out a bit more than I expected. My USB ports are on the back of my laptop and when the USB receiver for the mouse is plugged in, it sticks out approximately 2.25 inches.
2. As mentioned in other reviews, the feel of this mouse is a bit stiff. I use my mouse in a classroom setting and everytime I click, the whole classroom can hear it.
3. The mouse is pretty heavy with the batteries loaded in it, but you cant really cite that as a fault. The mouse does need power to run. I just put it here to let you know.

Conclusion: Excellent mouse that performs as promised. I have no regrets with this purchase and would definately recommmend to others.

38 An Amazingly Handy Accessory!
I just had to write a review to say how much I love this mouse! It fits well in my hand and the buttons and wheel have a comfortable feel to them. It can be used with either hand, so you don't need to get seperate ones for righties and lefties. The optical sensor makes it easier to use for me than a traditional mouse - I tend to sit on the floor or sofa a lot while I work and it can actually be pretty far away from the sensor and still work fine. (I even worked with my arm draped over the back of the couch just to see if it would work that way, and it did - comfy!)

It has a good little zippered carrying case with it.

In my case I didn't even have to install the software for its drivers. I just plugged it into my gateway notebook and it worked immediately.

The only thing I can think of that would potentially improve this product is if it went into sleep mode if it wasn't used for several minutes to conserve the batteries, but I like it despite the fact that I have to remember to turn it off. So far, battery life seems to be pretty good.

I would recommend this product without reservation.

39 Great Mouse but usb receiver is bad..
Mouse is great and works on all surfaces. USB receiver sticks out and there is a high probability that you might be damaging
it if you are not very careful. I damaged it in 2 weeks. May be logitech should have designed it with a flexible material so that it bends.

41 Not for serious gamers, eats batteries, but great.
First off, DO NOT put 1.2v rechargable batteries into a mouse that wants 1.5v batteries, unless of course you don't like to actually accomplish anything but frustration trying to get the pointer to go where you want it to. It actually says right where the batteries go that it wants 1.5's. Listen to the print on the battery thingy, the print is good.

Now, about the mouse. The site said it was great for gaming. That depends. Minesweeper, little golf games and stuff on zone.com, works fine, for most people that play games, the *normal* people, this mouse probably works just fine. But for the elite gamer, for the psycho FPS player that blasts somebody, runs for cover while many angry enemies come out of the woodwork, lobs a nade out the window, blasts another as he jumps out another window, blasts another as he hits the ground, then lobs another grenade up into the window, off the side wall, and down the stairs, then darts in the door right after the nade goes off and cleans up anyone else in that room, then... anyway, this mouse can't keep up. I have yet to find a cordless mouse that can really keep up with the really high-paced crazy stuff that I like to pull, and this mouse is no exception.

However, when I'm at college, This thing's great. When you're sitting at a 1-by-2 desk with about a foot in between your desk and tons of other desks in every direction, a mouse wire majically mighty-morphs into a trip cord. Whether I'm actually paying attention and taking notes, or playing *little* games (without getting caught by the teacher, of course), it works great, it's *very* compact, and the only downside is that it needs regular batteries.

I can't really say how long 2 AA's last, because the college season's over and I have little use for this mouse at home on my desk (which is like 3-by-5 feet, yipee!), but when college starts up again (like I'm eager to go back) I'll buy a huge battery-bundle off of the internet or at a store (near me!), keep 2 spare ones with me, and be set. I just need to grab new batteries from wherever my stash is every so often. My laptop battery probably doesn't last as long as these batteries do, but even if you have the laptop plugged in, it's still one less tripcord, and you don't have to fumble around making a mouse-cord portable, both in the case and on the desk, which is great.

I also have to note that if you get one of these mice that matches your laptop, it looks *really* cool, really cool, but, if you're in a room full of computer-illiterates that both: have a problem that they can't figure out and the "really" need your help with, and: spent 10 minutes reading a PC-magazine and think they know everything, this looking cool can be bad, very bad.

Anyway, overall: needs 1.5v batteries, bad for serious gamers, good for actually productive stuff, very portable, looks cool.

42 One dead mouse....
Hmmmm...though the software loaded seamlessly, I can't get the mouse to work...! The instructions are simple enough--perhaps, too simple...there is no trouble-shooting info so I suppose I'll be sending the thing back--bummer....
43 Nice Mouse But A Power Hog
I really like this mouse. Installation was no problem and it works great. Only thing is that the batteries only lasted 3 days. And I was carefull to turn it off when not using it, even for a trip to the kitchen for a cold beverage. This was a shock considering I have a Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard for my desktop and have to change the batteries only every 2 months or so.

I did however take the advice of another review and purchased NiMH batteries and a charger. We'll see how long these expensive batteries will hold up what with being charged every 3 or 4 days.

Why Logitech couldn't incorporate some power saving elements into this product is a mystery to me.

44 Must have for notebooks
Highly recommended for laptops. Even though it has a "connect" button, never had to use it. Just plug and play installation. No need to download/install drivers. Used it with Win 2000 and Win XP.

Pros ::

* Solid responsive mouse
* Just like any other mouse
* Cordless so no tangled wires around you
* Optical so can be used on ( just about ) any surface
* Small USB receiver
* Cute carrying case with separate pouch for receiver
* Used it, without any issues, with my wireless internet connection
* Easy to replace batteries

Cons ::

* Might be small for a person with large hands &/or long fingers
* Just 2 button mouse
* Not aware of any way to program the "buttons" ( for "left handed" persons )
* Slightly heavier ( because of batteries ) compared to a general optical mouse.

45 excellent product. would highly recommend it
If you have a notebook, this is a must-have mouse. On WinXP it installs without any drivers. . .true plug-and-play. clicking feels good but it feels a little "cheaper" than regular logitech mice. I love the On/off switch. . .travel pouch is nice too. Size is good for people with small hands (especially women) and occupies negligible space in my notebook backpack.

This mouse is replacing a wireless mouse by Targus. That one was really bad. It frequently lost connection, would automatically highlight icons on my desktop without me clicking the buttons, tracking of the cursor was "choppy" at times, over all unreliable.

This logitech mouse is working flawlessly.

The only very very minor advantage of the Targus mouse is that it comes with a short (2 inch) USB extension cord in case your USB port is located in a place that would make the USB receiver bump into stuff. In other words, if you have a USB port in the back of your notebook, the receiver will stick out about 2 inches and could bump into things. A short extension cord would allow you to move the receiver to a more comfortable location. Oh well. . .very minor.

You might be able to find it for less elsewhere but I would definitely get it from somewhere.

46 Lovely mouse
Easy to install, works like a charm, good reception, the power on/off is really handy. If I have to be picky, the clicking sound is a bit too loud for me deep into the late night.
47 Rubbish
It was rubbish, I bought it from somewhere else and it failed to work for me, I tryed cleaning it but it still didn't work.
I sent it back to get a replacement AND I still coulden't get it to work, I might just have been my P.C but I don't think that, that was the case.
48 Won't last long
I have had this Logitech mouse for 3 months now and it is almost entirely useless. The batteries become too weak after 3 days and the cursor is jumpy and won't move across the screen. I don't know if the laser has become weak or the transmitter has died. The mouse does not turn off after sitting idle. You have to remember to turn it off everytime you leave your computer. I would strongly recommend another brand if you're looking for a mouse that will last.
49 Good, but I expect more from Logitech
IMHO, many of the people reviewing a device such as this often compare it to their old cruddy device at home, instead of comparing it to the technology of the day.

This mouse is good but could be better.

It tracks very well for a wireless mouse and is very comfortable (not too small) for a notebook mouse. The scroll wheel is smooth and the scroll button has a good click. It has an on/off switch which lets you turn it off when not in use. The Logitech Mouseware software is excellent -- the best mouse software/driver out there.

However, regarding the two main buttons, it seems Logitech has taken a giant step backwards or simply neglected this major aspect. Their other mouse products (such as their MX line of mice) have very light, smooth, responsive clicks. All of Microsoft's mice (Logitech's main competitor) also click nicely. The buttons on this mouse feel stiff and uncomfortable in comparison.

The USB dongle is better than a big bulky receiver of course, but again, it is not the best of this design. It's too long and sticks out too far, and tends to bang into the surface of wherever you rest the laptop, especially if the surface is not perfectly flat, like your bed or your lap for example. Lesser companies such as Targus and others make the USB dongle so that it can be angled upwards.

This mouse also lacks an extra side button or two. In this day and age many users including myself have become very accustomed to using the programmable side back/forward buttons common on most aftermarket optical mice. It is true that most notebook mice don't have this feature, but one would think Logitech -- an industry leader -- would try to innovate instead of just playing safe with an outmoded design.

Batteries run out much too quickly, but this is a problem with every wireless mouse on the market. The thing that makes this mouse die faster is that it has no sleep mode -- big mistake. Wireless mice have to have a sleep mode if they are to last longer than 1 month. Best thing to do is get yourself a set of 4 rechargable NiMH batteries from Radioshack so you can have 2 batteries charged and ready to go at any time.

So in conclusion, if you must have a wireless notebook mouse definitely buy this one. It tracks very well, has a smooth wheel and a small receiver. But there are many better mice out there (wired and wireless, regular and notebook), several for less money. This mouse is cordless, attractive/stylish and small -- but that doesn't mean it's a great mouse. If some cheap company made this product I probably wouldn't be this critical, but I expect more from the industry leader and from a $40 mouse.

50 A Nearly Perfect Laptop Mouse
I agree with nearly every reviewer below, except about the button action. I didn't find mine to be too heavy.

Positives:
--uses standard batteries: this is great, no need to pack the charging station or a cord, just an extra set of AA batteries. I use rechargeables to save money. Minor quibble: I wish they used AAA. They don't last as long but I can feel the weight difference. And packing my briefcase these days is like prepping for a hike on the Appalachian Trail, you really start to pay attention to every ounce.
--on/off button
--ease of installation (as noted below, plug it in and go to work, no need for the CD)
--ergonomics (comfortable)
--size of USB receiver (small)
--price (acceptable, though wouldn't mind about $10 less)
--wheel works great
--carrying case: a surprise; it's small and the neoprene is soft but durable and holds its shape. My last mouse was a felt, drawstring bag. It worked well, but this is a decided improvement.

Negatives
None, but I can suggest a couple of improvements.
--it doesn't seem to have a sleep mode after a few minutes of idle time. I've only had it a few days, so it's too soon to report on battery life and how the sleep mode issue affects that. The on/off is great, but I'd prefer to use that only when I pack it, not to shut off each night (I leave all my equipment on). My last mouse and the one my wife uses have contacts on the side of the mouse that you naturally touch and which "awaken" the mouse from its power-conserving state.
--I haven't had them yet, but I'd like to have the programmable fourth and fifth buttons people talk about in other mouse reviews and use for "Back" and "Forward" on Web pages.

Great mouse. Good value. Another plus for the Logitech brand.

51 Great laptop mouse
I purchased this mouse for use with a new Dell 8600 laptop, after months of using a tiny Targus corded mouse with another laptop. What an improvement! This unit is very responsive, has a solid feel to it, fits well in my hand, and when compared to a desktop unit it is smaller in size (convenient for travel) without being annoyingly tiny. It is a highly desirable upgrade over other laptop input devices. As with most Logitech products, it is easy to install, is very accurate, has a quality feel, and allows quick setup for each use. One reviewer wrote that the buttons offer too much resistance, but I have been a huge fan of such tactile feedback since purchasing my first HP calculator back in the early eighties. To each his own! I find the cordless function to be even more beneficial with a laptop mouse than it is on a desktop unit, and the on/off switch is a nice touch to save battery life when the unit is not in use. All in all, I find this to be the best laptop mouse I have used to date. I would give it four and a half stars if possible, since all products can be improved. But since that is not an option, I give it a five as being the current cream of the crop.
52 Great Notebook Mouse
This is a really good wireless. The response time is instant and does not fall asleep. The on off feature is great and the included carrying case is also convenient. I previously had an IBM Wireless Optical Mouse and it was horrible. This mouse is a nice size. The button are a little loud when you click but other than that it is very nice.
53 One computer device that works like it should
I purchased this mouse when I transitioned from my old desktop into a new laptop. I was just looking for a way to help keep the cord clutter down to a minimum. Logitech is a brand name that I've grown to trust in the past however, this devise has far exceeded my expectations in every way. First is the design the mouse, it is large enough to cup into the hand reducing finger and wrist strain. Second is battery life, I have run consistently everyday for at least two months before changing the battery and when the battery started to go it was noticeable with out be obtrusive, meaning I could limp along for a little till I found the chance to run to the store. Thirdly is it's connection strength to the computer, most of the time when I plug the USB device in to my machine it automatically connects to the mouse, no pressing the connect button. Fourth is the size of the receiver, wow is it small and it all fits into the zipped pouch that comes with the mouse. Lastly is the optical sensor, I've run this mouse on all kinds of surfaces, white melamine, photographs, and my couch cushions, every time it is precise and fast. This is one purchase is am thoroughly pleased with.
54 Great mouse, easy installation, fast shipping
I think the title of my review says it all. I did not expect the item to be shipped so fast by the free super saver option. So thank you Amazon. The only thing I am missing is a gift certificate from Amazon :-).
55 The perfect mouse for your laptop! No annoying cable, A++!
Got this mouse from Amazon today, it's perfect for my laptop or anyone's laptop! Installed flawlessy on an older laptop, as with every Logitech mouse I've purchased, never had to use the installation CD.

Installation for this mouse couldn't be easier: take out of package, plug small receiver into USB slot, press connect button, load 2 batteries into mouse, press connect button, and it works instantly! It even comes with a neoprene case for the mouse and receiver when you're travelling. Great form-factor, scroll works well, attractive medium silver mouse, and no annoying cable! Haven't had "difficult to click" problems like other reviewers...no problems. What more could you want? It costs $40 + tax in the store, here on Amazon, it's $30, free ship, a must have. My previous mouse was optical but not cordless....moving a laptop around the house is very annoying when you have a long mouse cable meant for a desktop computer, now mousing is effortless.....definitely buy this mouse....Logitech is a brand you can trust!!

56 Love It!!
My laptop is finally completely wireless! I received this mouse three days ago and I am already wondering how I had lived without it! It's definitely worth the money...I'd recommend this cool little device to anyone.
57 Excellent product!!!!
I just purchased this item from Amazon a few weeks ago and I love it.
It was easy to set up (I am running XP home on a Dell P4). The best part is that I didn't have to load the included software to get it to work.
Simply plug in receiver, turn on your PC, turn on the mouse and push the connect button on both devices. Then it worked!!!!!

I highly recommend. In response to the other reviews indicating "hard" to push buttons, they are A LITTLE stiff but not an issue.

Todd.

58 Best wireless optical mouse for laptop/notebook!
This is easy to install and once you customize the settings, it just whips through web pages with the wheel. Nice to have an on and off switch to save battery power and a neoprene carrying case! It is now my travel mouse to and from the office, as I leave my MS optical mouse plugged into my USB hub. Best optical mouse I have used to date, the USB transceiver is small and easy to plug into the USB port.
59 Very Nice Mouse for a laptop, only one problem.
I have owned this mouse for quite some time and really like it. The only thing I wish it had was the new forward and back buttons on the side. This is nice when browsing. The "ON/OFF" button is nice to save batt's. I bought rechargeables NiMH, but then again I put rechargeables in all my electronics. Very nice feel though and efficient on the power.
60 Nice little mouse
As all the previous reviews have stated, this is a nice little mouse that was a breeze to install on my IBM Thinkpad T30 with Windows 2000 Pro. I like the fact that it is optical, so I don't need to worry about using a mouse pad. The ONLY thing I don't like about this mouse is the "action" on the buttons. It is pretty stiff and I am still trying to get used to it. I mostly have problems when I try to double-click. When I go back to my trusty wired Microsoft mouse, the action is so much softer and easier to "feel." If you can test it out first (borrow a friends) I'd highly recommend it before you purchase.
61 This mouse is great!
This mouse is great. I just got it today (unfortunately at Staples, though). I am able to get it to work from roughly 20' away! I kid you not. Except for the fact that it uses 2 AAs (you can't really get away from that), you can't have a better mouse. The only change I'd make would be to have a recharging cradle to put it in when you get home, in addition to the USB transceiver that you carry with you during the day. But hey, you can't have everything.

This product comes with the mouse, 2 AAs (Duracell, too), the transceiver (the size of your USB Flash Key), and a zippered pouch to fit both (it has a little, inner pocket for the transceiver).

62 Good laptop companion
This is my first wireless mouse and I'm very happy with the product. It's much more convenient to use then a corded option, and its size is a bonus if you regularly pack and unpack your office (even for desktops you notice how much less real estate is taken up without having to worry about the wiring). When I pulled it out of the case it felt too small and light, but once the batteries are loaded it's got a very good size/weight ratio. Ambidextrous shape feels good.

I'll occasionally get some interference with the wireless connection talking to my work laptop, but the computer at home hasn't had the same problems. You should purchase some rechargeable batteries and keep them around as backup - the power indicator drops from good to critical without allot of notice. Keeping the mouse "on" most of the day gives you around three weeks of steady use. As previous reviews noted, the buttons are on the stiff side, but not so much as to be noticeable after a regular day of use.

Also, an excellent scroll mechanism. It's notched but has a very smooth and sensitive response. You can also customize it as a third button for double clicks, etc. Makes it annoying to go back to mice without this option.

63 "The Best Out There" So Good I Purchased Two!
I searched several different stores and no other notebook mouse could compare to this one. The ergonomics are amazingly just right(you wouldn't expect that in a notebook mouse), the back of the mouse fits nicely into the palm of your hand, allowing your wrist to rest nicely on the table surface. Nicely weighted, solid buttons round off the package.

The cordless reception is excellent (up to 10 feet away) and tracks beautifully. The neoprene case is of good quality and fits the mouse and dongle near perfect. As I was checking out the salesperson asked me if I wanted a 2 year warranty, I showed her the 5 year warranty on the box and she couldn't believe her eyes! If your looking for a notebook mouse, do try this, it won't disappoint.

64 Perfect little device
Before buying this mouse I (sometimes) used an older Logitech "cordless" mouse, designed for desktops. The transceiver portion of that system sat at the end of a cord, and though technically the mouse was not corded to the computer, it was too hard to manage that system when connecting to my laptop.

So I am delighted to get a system really designed for laptops. The mouse is right sized, large enough but smaller than a desktop mouse. And the transceiver is a little two inch stick that plugs into the USB.

Wheel: I take that for granted nowadays. But I really appreciate this newfangled "on/off" switch they have invented. My old desktop cordless mouse ran out of gas every month and need a battery replacement. So mostly it sat unused.

There's really not much bad I can say about this mouse. Looking for one thing: I wonder if I will ever bump the transceiver stick into something and break it off.

65 The best laptop mouse I have ever seen
I have tried several other wireless mice before I purchased the Logitech one. The first thing I noticed when I open the package is how good its build quality is. The buttons are so nicely weighted and the range of the RF receiver is adequate for laptop. Highly recommend this one for people looking for a REAL GOOD mouse for your laptop!
66 ergonomically.. not so good
Just got a laptop (my first!) and thought, my optical logitech mouse is great, but I need one for the laptop -- wouldn't cordless be nice?
Well, it's nice but.. it clicks harder than my old one. In other words, it takes enough effort to make it click that I find myself avoiding it and keyboarding around. Now I'll admit to having some sort of repetitive stress injury, but this is definitely exacerbating it.
Aside from that, great mouse. I like the option to assign things to the scroll wheel button "thing" -- I chose drag lock -- it was an actual option! The wheel is great as always, and it seems to work fine.
If anyone knows of a cordless optical wheel mouse (extra points for being small) that clicks more easily, do let me know -- the pain has traveled from my wrist to my back in less than two hours.
I'll be willing to get the larger more expensive cordless optical if the clicking is easier. $10 vs serious pain -- it's worth the money.
67 Great little optical
This mouse is a PERFECT companion to your notebook. Its wireless range is excellent and the optical sensor is flawless. There is an On/Off switch on the mouse that I found particularly convenient so it doesn't bleed the 2 AA batteries while you're not using it. I love the included nylon carrying-pouch that holds the mouse and the small USB receiver.

This is a great deal, folks. If you're looking for an optical mouse for your notebook, this is the one!

68 Good wireless mouse for laptops
This is a great working mouse. It does have a solid feel and works just like a corded mouse. I had tried a cheaper Targus mouse but I had to take it back because it simply wouldn't response to mouse clicks. But the one nice thing about the Targus unit was the small receiver unit was hinged and would swing 90 degrees. The Logitech receiver is rigid. The wheel works good and the buttons have a good feel also. Sorry, but I bought this unit at Staples for $30 and it is well worth it.
69 A Comfortable, Compact Mouse with an ON/OFF Button!!
I bought this mouse to replace by generic USB wheel mouse that I was using with my Dell Inspiron 8000 laptop computer, which runs Windows XP Pro. This mouse was a breeze to install. There are two parts, the mouse and the receiver - can't get much simpler than that. Turn off your computer, plug the receiver into a USB port, put the 2-AA batteries in the mouse, turn on the mouse and fire up the computer. Windows XP Pro found the new hardware right away. To "synch up" the mouse, just press the Connect button on the receiver, then press the Connect button on the bottom of the mouse, install the software (CD provided) and off you go.

What I love about this mouse is that is doesn't feel like a tiny, notebook mouse. It is sturdy and has some weight to it. Another great feature is the ON/OFF button (THANK YOU LOGITECH!!) so you don't suck the life out of double A's or rechargeable batteries. Logitech also provides a neoprene soft case for your mouse. I have always used Logitech mice on my desktop and have always been happy with their products.

Quote of the Day:

You should not use your fireplace, because scientists now believe that,

contrary to popular opinion, fireplaces actually remove heat from houses.
Really, that's what scientists believe. In fact many scientists actually
use their fireplaces to cool their houses in the summer. If you visit a
scientist's house on a sultry August day, you'll find a cheerful fire
roaring on the hearth and the scientist sitting nearby, remarking on how
cool he is and drinking heavily.
-- Dave Barry, "Postpetroleum Guzzler"

The problem ... is that we have run out of dinosaurs to form oil with.
Scientists working for the Department of Energy have tried to form oil using
other animals; they've piled thousands of tons of sand and Middle Eastern
countries on top of cows, raccoons, haddock, laboratory rats, etc., but so
far all they have managed to do is run up an enormous bulldozer-rental bill
and anger a lot of Middle Eastern persons. None of the animals turned into
oil, although most of the laboratory rats developed cancer.
