1 Don't buy it!
Just wish I read the reviews before I bought this camera. Buy it if you like to see yourself in an orange hue.
2 Its Pretty Good
i like it alot even though its a little tough to use but if ur expierenced in some type of electronics you should be able to figure it out
3 Not what I expected
I bought 4 of these at target for my family and girlfriend. I wasnt looking to spend to much which I definately did not do. I was excited to get home and try them out before I gave them out. Well the first thing I noticed (which I should have seen in the store, stupid me) was that they dont have a microphone on them which just complicates things. I personally did not think the picture was too bad, although I have nothing to compare it too. It did seem to be dark but I think with adequate lighting behind the camera (ambient lighting) it does fine for people just trying to chat online. However if you are trying to make some sort of great video with it, I would suggest a digital camcorder. Now the software. It was very simple to install, and took very little time. However I could not get it to work with AIM - AOL instant messenger, I still dont know why, I kept getting an error message that said the camera was being used by another application. Im sure that was all my fault. But I wasnt willing to work and figure out the problem when they didnt even have a microphone. I did not think the snap shot quality was as good as the video which I would expect to be better. Finally it is hard to get the camera set up so it stays on your face. You would have to set it on some books or something. Ultimately I took them back the next day, and ordered some Creative cams. Hopefully they will work better. Good Luck
4 Don't even bother!
This is the worst camera no matter what you spend for it! I had it installed and after 20 minutes uninstalled it!! I bought it because of the Logitech name. Won't rely on them for webcams... Very, very grainy picture with a lot of lag! Also very dark picture! I am running a Dell P4 Dimension 8300 with 512M RAM and Windows XP Home Edition.
5 Eventhough it's Logitech, not recommended. Picture is dark.
The picture is terrible as it can't capture much light, hence the picture is very dark. I used to trust reputation of Logitech, but I have been fooled by this product, it seems to be the worst Logitech product ever.
Suggestion about this product:
- If you have bought it and cannot be exchanged/trade-in, add 1 more desktop lamp to highlight you, adjust the brightness and contrast setting may be a little bit help.
- If you haven't bought it, just add few more bucks, I recommend you to buy Creative webcam NX for excellent picture quality.
6 It does not live up to Logitech brand name
I bought this webcam yesterday and its performance is way below expectations. The camera performs pathetically in low light. The pictures were grainy and video capture is equally bad.
This camera is not worth its money.
7 This camera is awful
You can get a much better camera for the same or less money in many cases. My big complaint is the CMOS picture quality. It's REALLY bad.
8 OK but too expensive for what it is
The picture quality is horrible. It's all fuzzy and needs a hella lot of lighting. I have to turn on 2 lights to get an average video. Not good for a first buy.
9 Worthless
The picture quality is dreadful. Impossible to adjust. If you buy it, be sure to save your receipt because you'll quickly return it for a refund.
10 Logitech is letting me down..
The quality of the video is't good at all. I get it at a good price, but with that resolution of video I understand why..
Get a better model or try other options.
11 Not a good buy
This camera is not a good buy. The picture quality is horrible and it's impossible to improve. Don't waste your money on this one.
12 Horrible
Ive used several webcams. This one is horrible. Picture is grainy. Streaming is *really* jerky. Software is poor. You set the white balance to automatic and everything is blue. You switch to manual and everything is orange. Do not by this model!
13 Not Compatible With Windows 98 "VIAVT83C572/VT82C586" USB
1.)Logitech QuickCam Express is not compatible with Windows 98 "VIAVT83C572/VT82C586 PCI USB Universal Host Controller." There is no Windows update available. The company knows there is a problem but, they do not let the customer in on this tid-bit. And 2.) The old 7.2 disc version is being shipped: I was directed to visit a website in which I had to download the newest version 7.3 plus other time consuming downloads. I did not let the Logitech support people off of the hook. 3.)I complained mightily. Finally a tech support person, out of dispair, on the fourth day advised me that the camera itself was probably defective and that I should just return it.
14 Did not work.......
I had heard a lot about LOGITECH webcams ....and what a surprise i got when it did not even function....
15 Good starter camera.
This is a neat and easy to install webcam. The picture quality is not brilliant, but it is about what I expected. The base is not a great design, I have it mounted on top of the monitor, but I don't think it is very secure. The base should mould onto the monitor surface better.
I got it for sending photos of the kids to my family. For that it is cheap and easy, and the kids love playing with it, and seeing their photos on screen.
At that price it is hard to go wrong! But for real quality photos I know I will have to shell out for a proper digital camera.
16 You can get better cameras for the same price...
Well, I got this camera recently for 79 CAD at Staples and despite the bad reviews, it is easy to install and it works fine (it is probably good enough for most users). The image quality is not great but you can't expect a lot from a webcam. It works well with low light and it makes reasonably good videos. Don't try using it to take snapshots! The quality is awful! The software that came with is not very good and I didn't manage to broadcast videos using it (I had to download other softwares from the internet). The camera design is not too bad but I agree with one of the previous reviewers that said that the camera base doesn't hold it very well. For the same amount (or a little bit more) of money you can get detachable webcams that can be used to take snapshots and will produce images with the same quality.
17 Basic webcam
I have owned / used this item for 1 year. The price is great - and it works very well for online messaging & chatting. Downside - focus is sometimes fuzzy, the base doesn't hold the cam well on top of my computer - i have to set it on a flat surface. Also, its not good for snapshots - only for online viewing. Sometimes the tint is a little green. But overall, for the price, it works well for a basic webcam.
18 I should have read the reviews first
I agree with the reviews, this cam stinks. I should have read the reviews before making the purchase.
19 Logitech can do better than this...
Normally something Logitech rules the house! I spent about $... with a $... rebate on 2 of these...about $.../camera. I expected to get decent quality out of them. I have seen the x-10 cameras that have pretty good quality for under $20.
Needless to say, Logitech has disappointed this time...a first! The pictures are really grainy at 320 and not so bad at 640. The camera is easy to setup.
I recommend downloading the install from their website. If you use the CD, it is a few revisions behind AND throws a lot of unneeded stuff on your system, such as Real Player and Yahoo IM. If I want them, I will download them. However, I also understand marketing and profit margins.
I may try the other Logitech cams or search for good reviews on other products.

20 Not Worth It
I thought it was just me when I plugged in my camera and it wasn't very good. Then I read the reviews and saw that the camera stinks in general. Picture quality is grainy and reddish no matter how I adjust the settings. It works no better than my webcam from 3 yrs ago, which only goes up to 320 x 240 resolution.
21 Horrible picture quality, low light response
Don't waste your time......horrible picture quality, focus, grainy.....and terrible low light response. Spend a few extra dollars and skip this one
22 Junk, complete and utter junk
Ive been using Quickcams for several years.. recently i was forced to replace my QuickCam VC because logitech cant figure out how to write a Win2000 driver for it. So i figured id get the QuickCam at the same price point that the VC was when I bought it. What a mistake.. the Express cam is junk.. total junk. The old VC cam had a crystal clear image. The Express' image is grainy, discolored, and unfocusable. Do not buy this cam. Its a complete waste of money. Im very surprised that Logitech even sells this thing as they have a reputation for quality products. Obviously they are going down hill.
23 Not worth the retail price.
I purchased this camera on sale with rebates and paid much less than retail. The camera operates fine for me but the quality of the picture is not very good. If you have bright lighting it works fine although it is tough to get it to look focused unless what you are capturing is very close to the camera. The software that comes with it allows you to take snapshots and video clips. It provides software to broadcast your webcame to the world but you will need to eventually pay for a spotlife account and this is the only option given by the software. If you are buying this to just let the kids mess around and make little video clips or just for instant messenger duty it will work fine. Just don't purchase for the retail price! FIY - I have mine hooked to a HP N5495 PIII 1.06 GHZ 512 MB Win XP Home laptop. For the price I paid I'm satisfied with the results of this average beginner webcam.
24 This thing is terrible
I was searching for a new webcam as the one I currently have (a Xirlink IBM PC Camera Pro) is fine, but I wanted to add another on a second computer. First I tried the MicroInnovations PC350 cam, which had pretty poor image quality (especially in lowlight), so then I returned it for this Logitech Quick Cam Express. This Logitech was worse than the MicroInnovations! How's that for "brand name quality"? I was so disgusted with the poor quality of this camera's picture that I was shocked it was even being sold. It's picture looks like trying to tune into a TV station from Antarctica using the antenna from an old 70s color TV. Totally unacceptable by ANY standards, especially considering my three year old camera (which can now be purchased for LESS than this brand-new Logitech) completely surpasses this offering in every way. Isn't this stuff supposed to be getting better and cheaper all the time???
25 Yeesh. Take this camera -- please.
I like the color orange. I like it a lot. I also like red. It's just that, crazy me, I don't like every image that I take with this cam to be red and orage. I like dots, too, but I don't like my pictures to look like a collection of orange and red wads of gum stuck to a wall. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money to get a camera that's rated better than this one. I am returning it. Oh, plus the software that comes with it is a joke. Feh.
