Well, 1984 hit and Big Brother never showed up. But since we have the technology for broadcasting our smiling faces worldwide, we can pretend that it's 1984 all we want. The only difference is, with the Logitech QuickCam Express,
we get to be in charge.
Setup for the Logitech QuickCam Express takes only a few minutes; just plug it into a USB port and transfer about 50 MB of software from the accompanying CD into your hard drive. The eerie, eyeball-like camera comes with a base that fits comfortably on top of your monitor or desktop. Calibrate it with the software to get your best side, and you're off and running. With the QuickCam Express you can add photos to online resumes or e-mail, send video letters to faraway friends and family, or use the live conferencing software to turn your computer into a Jetsons-esque video phone.
The image quality isn't perfect; more expensive cameras will yield sharper results. Still, the pictures look good enough for most purposes, and the streaming quality is exceptional (depending, of course, on your Internet connection speed). There are only few controls to master, which will delight the wind-it-up-and-watch-it-go folks, but may infuriate the gadget-loving technophiles out there. For ease of use, low maintenance, and decent quality, the Logitech QuickCam Express is hard to beat. --Rob Lightner
Pros:
- Unobtrusive
- Easy to capture stills
- Simple installation
Cons:
- Lower resolutions than more expensive PC cameras
- Little control over imaging
QuickCam Express is the simple way to get closer. Meet face-to-face online by making live video calls. Snap and send photos as easily as you send text. You can even shoot and send video e-mail. No camera is necessary at the other end - which means viewing is just another click away!
1 C'mon people it's a WEBCAM
I chose the logitech because it was a brand I had heard of and had decent specs for under 30 bucks. I'm using it so that someone can help me install something and see what I'm doing. It has about the resolution of a modern camera phone. I see some people complain about grainyness. However, you must realize that there is a trade-off with crystal clarity from a webcam and that's that unless you both are on T1 lines you're going to have to SEND all of that clarity and then you'd have severely lagging displays. Be sure the subject is well lit by more of full spectrum lighting (a really yellow lamp looks gross). Unless you're starting a naughty business and if you're just looking for a webcam so that you can chat to friends and go "this is neat" without any severe stipulations on what your demands will be it's just fine. The price is good, the design solid. Suits the average person's needs (webcam thrill will fade and you'll stop using it most likely). If you're going to need to see a loved one stationed overseas or for business use you should probably invest actual money into a quality cam. The stills are lame, get a digicam if you want super clear pics.
If you're looking to save dough and enjoy the amusement of a webcam, the logitech quickcam express is a solid model that will perform reliably and clearly enough.
2 Decent
I bought this because it was in my price range. The quality isn't great, but it does what I need it to do.
If you need a still or video PC camera for school, don't get this one. Spend the extra money and get a really nice one. If you just need a PC camera for instant messageing and sharing photos, this is a good camera.
3 GRAINY!
This was the worst camera! The installation was easy, but most are. THE PICTURE QUALITY IS [bad]! PLEASE dont waste your money on this, I am going to try the 4000 model tomorrow, so I will come back and give a review on that as well. I'm hoping the CCD on the 4000 will improve the quality.
4 PC only
This camera does not have software for the Mac. Thus I must rate it at the bottom.
5 eh, not so great
I bought this quickcam about a year ago when the price was [less](eek!). Easy to use, but the picture quality was just horrible. Very grainy.
6 Best for the price and quality...
I bought my quickcam express 2 months ago, I use it everyday to chat with my family on the other side of the world(approx 3000 miles away)and this is the very best thing I have done to bring us all closer. About the picture quality I read in other reviews acctually it depends on the processor you'r using it on. When I use it on my LapTop which is pantium 3 with 160 mhz ram and all loaded with advance tech options, this camera works there like I am looking in the mirror with extreamly clear image resolution and when I use it at my home PC which has only 16 mhz ram and limited options it has just very acceptable/not good enough resolution, so for a good processor it is a best Web Cam you can buy at this price.
7 very nice for the price
Because we had a limit on money, I went for this cheap camera. I'm suprised it worked so well! IT has some really cool games using the camera that come with it. Installation was a little harder than they say and there are still more things you must download for the Video IM's. It is a little complicated to send video emails. The graphics could be better. But for what it comes with, it is a very good value!
8 image is poor. really difficult to mount.
it came with dsl service for free. it was laying around floor for 1 year and I decided to plug in my XP laptop to use it with yahoo messenger service.
pro:
installed without CD or driver disk on XP. just plug in and it was ready.
con:
image is poor. (you can improve picture quality by manualy adjust settings. increase contrast and hue. lowering gamma and color level, and etc...) it [is] still [poor] compared to just about any other video source I've seen.
my biggest complaint:
thick heavy cable causes camera to rotate and it's really difficult to set it at the direction it should be facing. why quickcam has been insisting on this unfunctional rubber base design for years, I have no idea. 'eye ball on top of pyramid' design looks cool. but it's stubborn one that looks away on it's own will.
9 Have not got it yet
If shipping in 1 to 2 buss days I ordered it on the 9th whare is it? It is now the 15th.
10 Great Value
This is easy to install, easy to update (online), and very very easy to use. Don't expect super high resolution photographic excellence, but if you want to talk via video chat online, take snap shots, or send recorded messages this is the business.
More than enough for the avergae computer user, highly recommended.
11 Got Light? - Fix for Base
I agree with most.. this camera [stinks]. Do not buy if you want high qaulity video. Do not buy unless the subject will be well lit and very close to the camera. The camera installs easily and is easy to use.
You can make the base work a little better by wraping some tape around the metal peg. This will increase the friction between the cam and the base, making it more stable. The metal peg can also be unscrewed from the camera allowing tripod attachment or a custom made base.
The best usb webcam I've seen is the 3com homeconnect. Although quite pricy, it delivers a clear, detailed, colorful image even in low light.
Consider using a video capture card. With a video capture card you can plug in any video source... camcorder, dvd, digital camera, miniature spycam etc...
12 few good things, but the image quality isn't great.
When I first got this camera I didn't have much experience (and still don't) in the WebCam world, so I didn't know what was good. The camera is super easy to install, and for a cam beginner like myself, the picture quality and everything seemed great to start with.
Then came the fact that if you do not have a well illuminated room, you most-likely will not be seen clearly with this camera. The further you get from it, the darker you appear. You're probably thinking that it's only natural, but I'm not exaggerating when I say the image quality [is terrible]. Another thing about not having proper lighting is that the images appear grainy and unclear. Basically, the only way to get a crystal clear image is if you shove a desktop lamp in your face and stand closely to the camera. And we don't want to melt our faces now, do we?
I do believe that with a better PC Camera, the lighting that I currently have at home would be just fine.
I'd recommend the camera to anyone who doesn't worry about quality and just wants to be "seen". But for the serious online guy/gal who has a webcam site or does video conferencing frequently, I'd tell you to look elsewhere if what you want is real good quality captures/video. I'm still looking around myself so I can get rid of this one.

13 I'm returning this camera today
All I got on this cam is Yellow Orange Images. It is so grainy that it is hard to distinguish what is being shown. I am very unhappy with this cam and I am returning it today.
14 Great web cam at a good price
I am very satisfied with this camera. I chat with people all around the world and they can see me very well. The installation of this product was a breeze. you just plug it in, install the software and go! I own other Logitech products and am very satisfied with all of them! Sure, you can go out and spend hundreds of dollars on a web cam but, if your looking to get a neet little web cam @ a good price, go for this one!
15 You can find better
The quality of the video on this camera is very poor. In addition to being "pixelated" there is a yellow hue to it no matter what I tried. I got two of them...and tried them on two different computers with poor results on both. Might be OK for someone who has never used a webcam before, but if you are used to decent video you will be disappointed in this camera. Also, the "stand" makes positioning very difficult.
16 cheap price, cheap camera
I've owned this webcam for about a year. It still works, but occassionally my computer won't detect it for whatever reason and I'll have to unplug and replug it into my USB port. That's the only maintenance problem I've had with it.
The picture quality isn't too great. It's very grainy and you can hardly see anything in low light. When I do turn on a light, it totally washes out everything and makes it all white. In order to see things clearly you have to settle for a reddish yellowish hue by using the "default" setting.
The good points are that the camera is very small and portable and extremely easy to install. The software allows you to create pictures, videos, and a live webcam that's really easy to use.
On the whole, I wouldn't recommend this camera because it shows very poor quality images, but I suppose you should expect that considering how cheaply priced it is. You're better off spending a little more for better quality.
17 Not worth it.........
...This camera isn't worth it. Fuzzy images (even when focussed) and yellow pictures (no matter how you try to adjust the settings) make this camera a total zero. I just bought it tonight and will be returning it first thing tomorrow. Bottom line...If you're thinking about buying it, don't. And if you already bought it, I hope you kept your reciept........... :)

19 You get what you pay for.
For the average cam user, this would be a good purchase. Just make sure you have plenty of lighting around you. The image quality is fair at best..It always seems to be a bit grainy and distorted no matter what I do. But look at the price.
Basically, if you take a picture of yourself with this cam, it will look like you. However, the color will be off, and you might suddenly have new lines in your face. Blue eyes are always green or brown in the cam pictures. Oh well.
The cam hardware itself wasn't thought out very well. I eventually ended up just duct taping the cam to wherever I wanted to take a picture because it kept falling over. The cord is much too heavy for the cam, and it will just slide out of its base and fall over after you've spent time adjusting it to where you want it to be. Logitech could easily have invested just a tiny bit more time into creating a better cam base.
The software that comes with the cam is very basic. You can adjust the picture resolution to 3 different sizes, and take a pic. You can also make a short video. The only bug I've run across is the Export video to email feature. The software adds its own little video player to the videos that you send people, and it always crashes their computers.
If you want to take some pictures or have a webcam on a site, this would be a decent cam to use. There are better ones out there, but they're more costly.
20 One detail
This camera performs excellent under bright daylight. The picture is clear and if you set the contrast right, images look great. The only thing I dislike about the QuickCam is that it's very difficult to set it on a table, on top of the monitor, anywhere without it toppling back or falling sideways. The round camera comes with a rubber base to put it on. The round camera has something like a metal hook or screw on the bottom, and the base has a slit on top. You're supposed to slide the screw back and forth on the slit in order to point it where you want to record, but once you get the angle, the heavy cable pulls the camera back and it goes toppling to the floor. Very frustrating at the least. I found myself moving towards where tha camera was finally pointing.
Otherwise, the software is pretty easy to use, even though it takes very long to load. I have Windows ME. You can record videos of unlimited length. I've had so much fun with this thing!

22 Picture sucks......severe quality drop from older model
I bought this camera to replace an older model of quickcam which looks the same and is also USB. I replaced it because for some reason Windows XP doesn't like it and it can't be used with XP since the OS upgrade. This camera installed easy but I had to D/L the XP software off the web as the software it came with is old. I expected at least the same quality as the other since it's been years and I now have the best OS available. NO!!! The picture quality is crap and can't be tweaked. There is this total grainy appearance to the images and the DPI seems much less even though its still 150DPI. Don't waste your money.....I don't see any resolution/quality differences with the more expensive models either....
good luck,
Mike
23 Absolute Junk
This camera is easy to install, but its not that hard to set a piece of manure on your monitor in the first place. The picture is absolute garbage. get a good one.. leave this one alone..
24 Logitech not the logical choice
This being my first experience with a web cam, I was not expecting any miracles. What I got was a major disappointment. My review of this camera is largely based on the unecceptable image quality. Familiar with Logitech, I'm surprised at the lack of quality visually speaking. A friend of mine had bought a competitors web cam for about half the price, and after I had a chance to compare similar still shots side by side, I immediatly returned this camera. Sit and fiddle with the minimal image correction options all day long only to end up with an uglier picture then you started off with. Like I said, I'm no web cam expert or anything, but it seems to me the number one criteria for a quality web cam is the image. And that is the area this product severely suffers in. A horrible first experience for sure. Take my advice, do the research, and avoid this camera.
25 Inexpensive, easy to use!!
This cam is definitely plug and play. It is very easy to set up and use. I have the latest version and it is compatible with WinME. You might have to play around with the settings a bit to get a clear picture when you are taking still pics. My pics weren't too clear till I changed alot of the default settings that were automatically set. For the price, I didn't want a pricey one because I wasn't sure if I'd use it alot or not...so what I wanted it for and how much I spent, I'm very happy with it!

27 Excellent for the price
It is easy to install even in old equipment, easy to operate and have a good image for the price
28 Good inexpensive camera
For a low priced camera this is a fun item. The software doesn't install correctly on Windows 2000 -- you need to set permissions on the registry and their tech support can send you a document about that problem.
Netmeeting is great fun if you know other people with a camera. However, this camera has a CMOS sensor which is grainy and noisy compared to the more expensive CCD sensor. That means this cam is pretty much worthless for taking still pictures. But for videoconferencing it is a solid inexpensive camera.
Logitech has a great developer's kit for free download if you want to write your own software.
29 Not as good as I though it would be
This is my first webcam and I was kinda let down after I loaded in the software and got started. First off the cam makes everything very dark. You have to have direct light shining at you to be able to see your self on the screen. The cam also causes a orangish hue to everything. And still no matter how much you try you can't really fix these problems. The cam itself fits pretty well in most surfaces. Clarity is also sometimes a problem. Not quite worth the close-to 50$ but still ok.
30 Perfect for novice
The installation of this web cam was very simple and easy . With a minimum of instruction, I was able to get started right away. For the money, this was a very good buy. I highly recommend it for a first-time cam buyer.
31 A decent buy for first-timers
For a beginner like myself, this product is a fine buy. Inexpensive, easy to use, decent picture quality. ... There are cons to it. If you need this camera for anything but fun, try something else. But as a goof-around camera, something to send snapshots to friends through email and quick shots for home use, this camera is fine. You do get what you pay for, so don't expect miracles. But for first-timers, give this one a try.
32 Tripod for webcam
It is true that the base stand is wierd, but fortunately the camera fits my tripod (and I guess any standard tripod) so I have it mounted standing next to my desk (or standing on my desk with the legs folded in) and it is great.
33 Alright, but not great.
This was easy to install (just run software and plug in) but the picture quality lacks.
34 GREAT, except for the stand
this is a great product for e-mailing videos or pictures to family and friends, but the only problem is keeping it up right! The little stand falls over everytime you try to move it, so I just keep it on my desk instead of on the cpu. Great product, though.
35 I love the quickcam!
I am new at the computer game but found this quickcam and mike very user friendly. It is clear enough of a picture to see my grandchildren in California while chatting with them. No problem focusing the camera or using the software.
36 For beginners only.
Logitech QuickCam Express offers only the very basics and the image quality let much to be desired. If you think of using it occasionally then this camera may be for you but if you are interested by the fascinating world of cam communities then I would suggest you invest in something better. But hey what can you ask for 40$!
37 Forget this!
Even if you just want this camera for casual use with your computer and are flexible about picture quality, you will probably have headaches installing the drivers. I gave up on their mouse years ago, and I suggest avoiding this product as well. I got it as a gift, and I found that with respect to camera, software, and overall quality this product is a loser.
38 quickcam express "stinks"
The picture on this webcam is lousy. I also have a kodak EZ 200 and it is far far superior to this crummy eyball thing. Don,t buy this model, get a different one!
39 think your getting a good camera-guess again!!!!!!!!
This camera is easy to set up(only if you have usb port). The quality is bad you will see yourself but there will be streaks. And i would consider getting a light because without one near the camera you cant see yourself. The software is great and easy to use. Here are the pros and cons:
Pros: Easy to set up Great software Cheap price
Cons: Poor picture quality Focus is hard to use Need alot of lighting for good visiblity
MY MESSAGE TO YOU:
If your considering on buying this camera for fun i would get it if you are using it for school, work and relying upon the camera get a better one.
40 Does Quality Matters To You?
When I bought this webcam, I first thought that it can act just like a digital camera, but right now I know that I was mistaken. If you're just looking for a way to share your pictures and videos with friends and family this is a good choice, because its very cheap, easy to use and has good Internet capabilities. But if the quality of pix and videos and size of them matters to you I really don't recommend it to you. The biggest picture that you can take by it is 320x240.
41 Plenty of fun
*Very* nice quality for the price, especially being a color camera. I was amazed at all the options the software offers, including a few Pong-like games! It's also lightweight and easy to install. Very comprehensible instructions and a lot of fun to use. :) It's a great little camera!
42 Decent for its price
Hey it's 30 bucks(roundabout). For that, the setup was trouble-free, and using it was a cinch. But personally, I wish for two things: that it wasn't colored white, cuz it get's dirty real easy. U leave it on top of your monitor, the dust collects and......Also, when I used Netmeeting, no matter how much I tried to focus, the pciture wasn't entirely clear. But again, for it's price, this camera is a sweet deal, and pretty cool looking too!
43 Great for the price
Don't expect fantastic image quality, but for the price who's complaining? The software is not sophisticated but really easy to use. Think twice, however, about clicking 'upgrade software' when asked - my camera came with version 5.2.0.2099, which works fine. But the upgrade I downloaded was buggy (5.4.3?) and I never got the camera working properly with it. Also some of the web cam settings options seemed to have disappeared in the new software. I had to uninstall the software and start over from scratch. One fault with the shipped software: the video editing functions are worthless, they probably shouldn't have bothered, but what do you expect at this price. Finally, beware that with USB, you can't use too long a cable with the camera. I was able to extend it to 16 feet with a 10' extension but going beyond that failed to work. This is a limitation of USB, not the camera itself.
44 More than worth the price
The Logitech Quickcam is a more than adequate digital camera. It's a USB device and can be set up in minutes with the very good software than accompanies it. I use it with Microsoft NetMeeting quite a bit and it's very good. Beware though, you will need to be in a very well lit room to get the best pictures - a slightly dark room will lead to what some people call "digitalized" or "pixilized" images. If you have this problem, you may need to keep an extra lamp beside your PC. With NetMeeting the picture size is only about 2" by 2" square. By right-clicking on the picture you can double the picture size, but quality really does suffer quite a bit at that size. The USB cable is a little short, but that's more likely a to be problem with the limitations of USB technology as opposed to bad planning by Logitech. The stand is not very stable either so when you get it steady you really have to avoid moving it at all. Overall the camera really needs to be judged on the picture quality for the price you pay, and on that score the Quickcam passes with flying colours. Easy to set up, easy to use - a bargain.
45 Don't waste your money...
I had a black and white quick cam that I was replacing. The B&W had 640 x 480 resolution and very nice pic quality for web conferencing, email photos etc... This cheap color version has just awful image quality... I sell alot on ebay, and my auctions pics made with this thing really stink. You can adjust it till your blue in the face and you won't get a decent image to save your life. Spend more money, get a better product than this. You get what you pay for.
46 PIECE OF JUNK!
I was looking for a webcam, mostly to capture still images to inject into email, and at the suggestion of a couple of friends, I invested...in a Logitech Quickcam Express. It looks kinda stupid, with it's eyeball shape, but this didn't matter. I excitedly unpacked it, installed the software without a hitch, and plugged the 'eyeball' contraption into a USB port. The rest of the experience was VERY disappointing even at the very low price. First, even with VERY CAREFULL adjustment of the difficult to turn, (camera rolled out of the base 5 times, as there is NOTHING to hold it) focus wheel, the images were only marginally viewable. Also, at about the size of a postage stamp, they are so TINY you would have to be within about a FOOT to even see them! Trying to go to maximum resolution, (still very small) the images got so GRAINY, as to be unviewable. Needless to say, I packed the piece of crap up, and took it back to the retailer where I purchased a slightly more expensive cam, and had MUCH better results. If you are looking for a 'TOY', go ahead and buy a Quick Cam Express...If you need DECENT images, still OR video, leave this crap at the store, and by one with 640X480 resolution...
47 if you want a web cam grab this it's great.
if you are thinking of getting a camera for the web this is the one for you. I use it for 3 web sites and except for no sound it has performed extremely well.
Works with most software. The capture program that comes with it is limited so you will probably want to get a picture manipulation program, they have a few here. It works with almost all of them that use the windows video interface protocoal.
it's a great way to get into webcasting, or just video conferencing cheaply...
48 WHAT A VALUE!!!
This little camera is simply amazing. The picture is just fine. Anyone who says otherwise was looking for professional equipment. I am a photographer by trade and think that for $25 this is the best deal in town. I use it to videoconference, attach videos to emails and shoot stills of photo equipment to sell on the net. It is amazingly easy to install and the focus was not an issue once you figure out that you need to turn the grey knob on the front. I would reccomend that anyone buy this. If you want amazing quality spend several thousand on professional equipment. If you are looking for something low key and "good enough" this is it.
49 Camera
I received this camera as a gift from my cousin and I have only had it one day and already I am going to return it. Save your money first off it's slow; the picture quality is poor and if you want to put a full screen picture forget about it. Logitech should just do us all a favor and get rid of this piece of junk. In my onion if this camera came with your computer or you bought it separately or are planning on buying throw it away it is better to have nothing than to have this camera it is junk plan and simple. I also think that it is in poor test to even have a camera of this low quality on Amazon. Com and they should discontinue selling it.
50 The QuickCam Express does very well for the money
This camera is a very good value for the money. As I own a regular digital camera that takes a superior picture compared to the QuickCam, I was very critical at first. But, putting things in perspective, the QuickCam Express is an outstanding value. It works great for what its intended purpose is, and thats simply seeing, and being seen, by the party to whom you are communicating with! You should have overhead lights on in the room and be sure you have some light illuminating your front side. It dosn't work in the dark! Fine product, will gladly recommend for basic videoconferencing.
51 easy to install, not a perfectly clear image though
this camera is incredibly easy to install, it really is just plug and play. you'll need to have video conf software like netmeeting or cuseeme - the included software isn't worth installing, and the drivers on win98 cd are fine. won't work with windows NT unless you've installed a usb hub and drivers especially for NT4. win2000 seems to function ok with it. rotating focus wheel is cumbersome if you're trying to focus the camera and aren't standing right next to it. get the latest drivers from logitech (3com) online. the image is not crystal clear, so don't expect the same quality as you get from a digital camera, but if you are looking for cost, your friends will be able to see you just fine with this one. the mounting stand is a little wierd, and the camera cable makes it shift back and forth. i had to tie down the cable so i could position the camera and it wouldn't move. it's not worth investing in a stand for this one because of the picture quality.
52 $25.00? Great Value 4 Your Money!
I usally buy alot of my stuff at future shop but for 25 bucks! (I live in canada, so that's why) You just cant beat it. I have mine right here and it rocks! No probs what so ever, It has great quality and it has all the progs you need dat comez wit it!
53 Awsome deal...
I can't believe what a great deal this is...Though a littlegrainy on slower computers, it does very well. Definately a must buy for all those just starting out with pc cams!
54 Great Value
This camera is an incredible value for the money. It was extremely easy to set-up and the software is easy to install and use. I had it running in a few minutes. The picture quality is decent.
55 Surprisingly not a very clear picture...
First, let me make clear that I am and an avid Logitech product user for nearly ten years! I have owned three Locitech video cameras -- all parallel interface! However with the latest one... the USB QuickCam Express model I've found that the image is in no way as clear as the previously owned cameras!
Seems as if with the aforementioned model some quality is sacrificed for price. Yes, I realize this is be the case with any item, yet I remain surprised at its "grainy-like" image... especially since that was not the scenario with the display model! The same applies to friends whom have also purchased this model.
The PC on which it is being used far exceeds its minimum requirements! The image still does not match that of its Parallel counterpart! This itself was surprising as I thought that USB was the "wave of the future!" Now, I can't help but wonder where this industry really is going with respect to computers in all aspects! In all fairness, the price is great for those who would otherwise be left out of the internet video revolution! It is for this reason alone I would recommend it at least for the purpose of learning if no other.
In closing, I would like to make clear that I will remain a Logitech user. Only in the future, I will be using a different Logitech model!
56 For the money...
I just recently purchased a Logitech QuickCam Express. I've had experience around computers, but the webcam was simple to install. I just plugged it in and the software took care of the rest. Within minutes I could broadcast over the internet. The camera is easy to use, but on the other hand it is quite fuzzy, even when it's been focused. It's a great camera for the money and I highly recommend it. But if you would like perfectly clear pictures you might want to go with a little higher model, such as the Quick Cam Web.
57 Lots o fun....easy to use
All you have to do is install the software, plug the camera in and your done.....you can take live pics, make videos or put up a webcam. VERY easy to use and lots of fun.......would recommend to anyone looking for a good camera at a good price
58 Couldn't get it to work
I spend about 6 hours with online tech support tools, phone tech support (tool call) with Logitech, and support through my computer manuafacturer...all to no avail. I could not get a picture with the camera on my HP Pavillion 8360 system. I returned it.
59 Doesn't work.
If you have a slow computer (less then 200mhz) The pictures will be a bit fuzzy and the lighting is bad. Other then that I have no complants except that the software only works with Logitech Cameras. However, I love the great features like the webcam.
Of course now you have to pay a subscription fee and each new version of the software lowers the amount of custom configuration. Now you can only use the software with Logitech cameras and the webcam feature you have to pay for.
I could care less for this camera. Doesn't work all that great.
60 USING THE LOGICTECH CAMERA TO CREATE STILL PICTURES
Purchased the camera to see if it would interface with the Photo ID Software I am developing. Found the product to be easy to use and the images to be crystal clear when turning the grey knob at the front of the camera. Called for tech support, talked to a human, and got the answers to the questions I had about interfacing the images into my software. My rating would be 10 stars only they don't rate that high. For the price, buy it now before they actually realize the potential of this great product and raise the price. Developers this is a great alternative to the costly digital cameras used to produce photo ids. If it walks off your only out 50.00 bucks.
61 Good for a webcam or videoconferencing.
Easy to install. Can be focused at different distancies and the input is acceptable. One problem is that the software does not include a motion-sensor surveilance program, which it should. Another is that the web-cam software cannot upload more frequetntly than 1 frame/second, while the camera by itself captures many frames/second. All kinds of video applications can use the camera once it is installed. The cord could have been a little longer.
62 Good product for the price
I'm bought this camera a month ago. The picture is great for this price. The software is easy to install and use. The only thing I didn't give it 5 stars is that the software will not work under Windows NT or Windows 2000.
63 Worth the money
I purchased 4 of these cameras. 1 for us, and 3 for family members. We are here in the States and my daughters father is in Canada. They hook up this way each week and get to talk and see each other. The other two are for members of my family and so far my sister has her's going. Its great - you never feel totally away from family. I plan to purchase two more for my brother in Canada and my sister in Germany. Well worth the $.
64 Great product...
I was a bit skeptical about buying a camera for 50 bucks, but it turned out to be a great deal. For 50 bucks, you get software that is extremely easy to use and that saves pictures and videos in convenient formats. Although it is not the most powerful software around, it will do the job. The image quality is not what I would call outstanding, but for someone who is looking to make some quick videos and to videoconference, it is a great product.
65 terrible cusomer service
my sister purchased this for her and I in Nov, 1999 for my birthday, up to this date, neither of us have been able to use! After days and hours of searching sites and etc., I came across the fact that this unit WILL NOT HAVE ANY VOICE with a COMPAQ computer! I contacted the company on numerous occasions, they have ignored ALL! I told them I was even going to return if they didn't respond, they didn't care. So I am returning. I do not recommend this unit also terrible picture and very small in size.
66 Logitech QuickCam Express Rules!
This camera is fantastic. For the price, I don't think you can beat it. Video quality is great, and I had it installed and recording in no more than five minutes. Simply plug it in and load the software. I was video conferencing with people around the world in no time at all. I'm getting my dad the same camera for Christmas. If you want a good camera for a great price, BUY IT!
