Logitech Rumblepad 2 Vibration Feedback Gamepad (963325-0403)

Still using a standard gamepad? Then you're missing out on a whole extra dimension in gaming: vibration feedback. Grab the Logitech® Rumblepad™ 2 Vibration Feedback Gamepad and feel what you've been missing. It uses not one but two vibration feedback motors, weighted differently and spinning independently, to let you experience every turn, bump, dip, and crash. And it feels great in your hands with its familiar button layout and all the controls you need to dominate.

1 Better than their Dual Action
This controller is better than Logitech's Dual Action USB, even if you ignore the added vibration feature. The area under the four main buttons has been hollowed out, making it easier to hit them, and all the buttons have a slightly higher-quality feel.

The biggest improvement is in the D-Pad. The D-Pad of the dual action is terrible, which makes it unusable for many types of games. For example, it is impossible to reliably use even simple fighting game moves such as SubZero's freeze or Ken/Ryu's fireball. The Rumblepad's D-pad, however, is much improved, plus it has a useful button that swaps the D-Pad and the left analog stick in case your game doesn't recognize the D-Pad (some don't). The D-Pad feels a little strange, and it doesn't quite reach the quality of the D-Pads on Nintendo or Sony products, but it does the job.

I have this pad, a Logitech Dual Action, and a Saitek P880, and I recommend this pad as the best of the three (unless you need six thumb buttons or a shift button, in which case Saitek is still a good choice, with or without vibration).
2 Good
This is really good gamepad. It feels really comfortable in your hands and it fits nicely. The only problem with it is that the rumble feature does not work with all games. Overall, this is a really good controller.
3 Mac users beware
This device is not fully functional for Macs. The gamepad does weird things with some games and is difficult to calibrate. Most importantly the VIBRATION DOES NOT WORK FOR MACS.
4 Whats going on?
O.K. the box says it works with the 05 EA sports games but theres no rumble if any one can help please send an e-mail thanx.
5 great gamepad
This is my first ever gamepad for a PC and it sure beats using the keyboard (for gaming). This USB controller is the best on the market for PC gaming. It's very simliar to the PS2 controller. Fits very comfortably in my hands. Logitech did a fantastic job w/ it's ergonomics. Personally, I wish they would've added some color to it by using transparent "jewel" buttons instead of the black. Maybe even make the whole thing transparent (like some PS2/XBOX controllers). It has a steel blueish metallic finish. Great price point, I got mine for 23 & change. WIN98,2000,Me, & XP, Mac OS X (v10.2.3+).... no "rumble" feature w/ macs

6 Rumble function does not work with all EA Games
I bought this thinking that Madden 2005 would function with the rumble effects. While the pad seems to work fine with Madden (with one small exception, listed in other reviews), the rumble function does NOT work with Madden '05. I am not sure about other games.

That's the only reason I give it four stars and not five. Otherwise, the pad feels nice and heavy in the hands, the buttons function well, the rumble feels pretty cool when I test it, and it's selling for a good price.
7 Solid gamepad, good feel, easy to program; D-pad only OK.
First off, I'm not a hard-core gamer. In dusting off some of my older games though, it became apparent I needed a gamepad. I liked the feel of the Logitech best. The supplied software didn't have profiles for some of my games, but most are easily downloaded from their website. Oddly, Doom & Halo profiles weren't there, but Quake was.

UPDATE: Halo supports the gamepad, so the profile can be modified there. While playing Halo the D-pad seems overly sensitive. I went back to using mouse & keyboard.

UPDATE #2: The more I use it the less I like the d-pad. It seems too small, too sensitive, and too slippery. Unfortunately I can't go back and knock a star or two off of my initial rating.

The Amazon text says there are 10 programable buttons but there are actually 12. The two analog joysticks are buttons as well.

I've tried it with Combat Flight Simulator 3 and the vibration feature is kinda cool, but prefer a good joystick over a gamepad for flight sims.
8 Don't assume force feedback effects on all games
This is a good game controller, but I was bummed out to find some games such as EA Sports Madden 2005 don't support the feedback feature of this device even though most quality games do.
9 Outstanding gamepad, slight calibration issue
I must begin by stating that this controller has far surpassed my expectations. This is a great gamepad, hands-down. It controls like a dream, and feels comfortably familiar to anyone who's used a PS1 rumble or PS2 controller before. Newer games even auto-set your controls to match the layouts of their console counterparts. For example, I just played through Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, and it played and controlled exactly like the PS2 version.

That being said, there is a minor calibration issue with the controller. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is that Logitech denies the flaw. I've read through a dozen forums with postings from other people who have had the same issue; however, the issue is VERY EASILY remedied, albeit by an unconventional method. The tiniest spritz of WD-40 (or other suitable lubricant) on the left or right analog ball will ensure flawless play. I remedied my controller over two weeks ago, and it still works great.

All in all, this is a fantastic controller - very accurate and smooth, familiar layout, and awesome rumble feature. For anyone who's stayed away from action platformers on PC because of control issues - hate playing on a keyboard, other gamepads' inaccurate and often touchy controls - this gamepad is your dream solution. You can enjoy the cleaner graphics of your PC title and not lose any control or playability.
10 Logitech sure did it right with this one...
Ok, first off, I'll admit that I've only had this pad for a few days now, so there hasn't really been a chance for anything to go wrong. But from what I've seen, this is one great pad. Everything is customizable, even with games that aren't made for use with gamepads. I don't know what the person who said it didn't work with Madden '05 is talking about. Even if your x/y axes ARE switched, the included software allows you to interchange the axes, so you can swap x/y back, or map it to mouse axes, or even assign a different function to each direction of the stick if you so choose. Plus you can adjust sensitivity, dead zone, and range on the sticks for maximum control in any game. So far I've tried it with Max Payne 1 and 2, Aliens vs. Predator 2 (none of which are really designed for gamepad use, with the possible exception of AVP2, which has joystick functions... and they're not even needed when you use the gamepad software), and old school Grand Theft Auto 1. With just a few minutes programming buttons to different game functions until I find the layout I like, it works beautifully with everything. I haven't had a chance to really test the force feedback, but the included tests feel very nice. Bottom line: Buy this controller. You won't be disappointed.
11 Great Pad
I don't know what the other review is talking about, this is a great pad. I just got it the other day along with Madden 2005 and it works beautifully. I also have Fifa Soccer 2004 and it works with that too. The drivers it comes with are valid and the program it asks you to install I would recommend installing as well.

Anyone with Windows XP, XP will install the gamepad automatically, but I took no chances and installed the drivers as per the instructions that came with it.

This is an amazing pad, it's so good I'm thinking about buying another one so I can play with my friends. I reccomend this to any and all!!!
12 Doesn't work well with Madden 2005
I've have tried for hours but this game pad will not work well with Madden 2005 for pc.
I tried everything and the axis for the right analog stick are all screwed up.
I purchased a regular logitech dual action gamepad and Madden 2005 recognized it by name under controller configuration. So I'm keeping the Dual Action controller

The Rumblepad 2 controller seems like a high quality controller but I haven't had the oportunity to try it with any other game I was only interested in using it with Madden 2005 for PC, and disappointed when I found that the hit stick(right analog stick) was all screwed up. It's like the Y axis is the X axis and vice versa. I tried using the logitech software that comes with it but not even reconfiguring the controller buttons work.

Even though on the package of the Rumblepad 2 states that it is made for all the latest EA Games i.e. Madden 2005
They;re Wrong

Stick with the normal Dual acion Logitech controller game pad.

Q:	Why don't Scotsmen ever have coffee the way they like it?

A: Well, they like it with two lumps of sugar. If they drink
it at home, they only take one, and if they drink it while
visiting, they always take three.
