With its brushed aluminum faces and wood grain styling, the Logitech Z-3 speaker system will dress up any workspace, whether it's in your home office, bedroom, or living room. The only thing that's more impressive than the Z-3's great looks is its sound quality. Its two phase plug satellite speakers, which feature removable grilles and durable cast metal stands, deliver crystal clear, room-filling music, dialogue, and sound effects. And thanks to its patented, award-winning pressure driver subwoofer technology, you'll hear all the bass you expect-and depending on how loud you turn up the subwoofer, you'll feel all the bass, too.
1 Good speakers, good service
These speakers are designed to sit on a desktop, but they can do much more than that.
These speakers aren't going going to wake up your landlord, but for the money are an excellent investment. I plugged them into my tv (a ten year old unit, but still), and was amazed at all the sound I had been missing. rumbling machinery, footsteps, even background music that my tv speakers just weren't delivering. Hooked into my laptop, they have replaced my old stereo. The only real drawback is the due to their size, you have to be sitting between the tweeters to get proper midrange. If they're playing on one side of the room and you are off to the side, you get plenty of bass and treble, but the body of the music is just not getting to the rest of the room. Also, the faux-oak contact paper casing doesn't really work for me.
Overall I am very satisfied with this purchase. The speakers showed up in about four days (sooner than my wife's books, ordered a day earlier!). I paid $45, less a $15 rebate direct from Logitech. I hate rebates, but that's how the world works nowadays. The rebate came in quickly, in a few weeks.
2 Very nice
I don't want to come off as someone who knows everything. Having said that, if I know anything it's sound quality. I have been trying different 2.1 systems for my home pc. I gave Creative Labs (I-Trigue) line a shot. They were good but not what I was looking for. I listen almost exclusively to heavy metal/hard rock. Not the simple metal but the very technical metal where sound really matters. The Creative Labs set did not give me good highs on Bruce Dickinison's (Iron Maiden) voice. Also the bass was lacking. Then I decided to put down some extra cash for the JBL Creature. Biggest mistake of my life, well my first marriage but that is not the subject. The Creature did not even compare to the Creative Labs. I was very disappointed because I have JBL home speakers that are incredible but they are Pro series and costed around $500 for two. Then I tried Altec Lansing, good, very good but they costed almost $100. I was ready to give up and just buy a small cheap set. My girlfriend seen these Logitech and noticed them because the wood grain matches our computer desk, yeah I know, women, ha. I explained to her that sound had nothing to do with matching. She kept on until I bought this set. I wasn't expecting anything great. I popped in Black Sabbath's song, "Iron Man" remastered version and uh-oh, really good deep bass. So I put in Iron Maiden's song, "Run to the Hills". Oh the highs were crisp. The bass was more what I would call, "warm" feeling. It was perfect. I love this set now. It doesn't have the audophilic attention that I have in my car or living room (All Infinity speakers in each)but it still does an incredible job for $50. If you think the others that cost more will give you better quality, go ahead and try them but be sure to buy them somewhere with a return policy. I went as high as $180 for a 2.1 but it didn't even do what this $50 set does. Take my word on it. These are great.
3 excellent buy
My wife's PC did not have any speakers with it and [...] I wish I would have purchased another set. The sound quality is excellent and look very nice. I would highly recommend these speakers even at the current price.
4 WOW...WOW....WOW
I have received my speakers only yesterday, and now my pc has turned into a cool sound machine. Cheap, small, stylish, and a good performer, the Logitech Z-3 Wood Grained 2.1 Speakers won't let you down. Go for it. BOOM.
5 Awesome Upgrade
I used to have the Logitech Z-640 5.1 speakers, but I only used the two front satellites and the sub so I began looking for a 2.1 system. When I first got the Z-640 I thought WOW these are awesome because I had just upgraded from the cheap speakers that came with my computer, and when I got these I again thought WOW. These were a nice upgrade over the Z-640. The sound is clearer, the bass is a little louder, and the satellites are twice as loud. By no means can you compare these to a $100 set of Logitechs like the Z-2200, I had a Z-2200 and those blow these out of the water with extremely nice, hard hitting bass, the clearest sound from computer speakers I've ever heard, and the loudest computer speakers I've ever heard, but these hold their own and for their price they cannot be beat.
PROS:
- Remote control is nice and easy to use
- Clear, concise sound
- Decently loud
- Good looks
- Awesome price
CONS:
- No bass control except on the back of the sub
- Bass could be a little louder
6 Excellent range!
This set of speakers is indeed a very good investment. The sound has excellent range and provides dynamic bass pulse. It has a knob that is difficult to reach but once it is set to the desired level, it does wonders! I love the blue LED light and how there is the optional headset jack on the volume control knob.
7 Good speakers for a 12-year old...
Well what can you expect at this price...certainly not anything near even MID-fi sound!
I bought these for my nephew who's an avid gamer but being just 12 years old, not exactly a musical connosieur. He's very happy because they sound a heck of a lot better than the bargain-basement no-name speakers his PC came with, and of course he loves the booming bass which would drive anyone who's not a hip-hop fan and over the age of 16 crazy, and which you cannot adjust independently.
Unlike my own Z-2200 Logitech 2.1 system which allows you to turn down the subwoofer independent of the two main speakers, you're stuck with the typically fuzzy and distorted bass coming out of this bargain basement subwoofer---the only thing you can do to lessen it is either put a towel over the sub or turn it away from you (but not towards a wall or nearby solid object, that only makes it worse).
Oh well, as long as you keep your expectations low and know what you're getting, for the price these are very adequate for basic gaming, basic system sounds, and music at low volumes only. If you want more I'd suggest upgrading to the Z-2300 (they discontinued the 2200) which isn't that much more with a rebate.
I suppose whereas the 2200/2300 blows away those ridiculous Bose Companion speakers, the Z-3 is about the same quality as the Bose just at a fraction of the price.
8 good sound to price ratio
For the price, these speakers rock. I'm really enjoying the satellite volume controller. One thing I'm not fond of is the PS2 type connection on the woofer, if it's bumped or slightly jiggled, the sound can cut in and out on the speakers. Overall, I definitely recommend these speakers.
9 Don't fall for the fake rebate
I purchased 2 Z-3 systems in December of 2004. They both produce a fantastic sound as I expected from logitech. However do not expect a rebate when contemplating the purchase price. I received 2 emails denying rebates on both purchases. I followed the instructions in detail, yet their reasons for denial is vague and unspecific.
10 I LUB IT~
I LUB it~ and Good Deal!!!
great Speakers!
although the bass is a bit too strong~
11 Great Price, although super boomy bass
I got these about half a year ago to replace an old caimbridge soundworks 5.1 system which would have taken up too much space in my new dorm room. The speakers weren't of the same quality, but I also ended up paying about 1/5th the price.
Nevertheless, the two sattelite speakers are decent. However the subwoofer was really bass-y and boomy, and was simply overpowering for the system. The bass would also go through walls even on the some pretty quiet overall volume settings (even though there's a sub volume control, at the lowest setting the subwoofer is still way too strong). I ended up having to go into my SBLive settings and turning the bass almost all the way off.
The system is fine now, and works great!
For those that love bass, this is probably the system for you. Although if you are in a dorm room or in an apartment complex, I'd be wary of angry neighbors....
12 pretty amazing for the price
Well, I have had these speakers for about 4 months and I am pretty happy with their performance.
Use them with my laptop, TV, PS2 everything sounds great, and here's a gist of what I think of the overall performance
Pros:
- Sub is very powerful, can rock a small room like my bedroom, nothing like listening to thumping music in the morning :)
- sound is clear even at really high volumes
- bought them at an awesome price just 26$ worth every penny
Cons:
- the bass sometimes drowns out the satellites, and the bass adjust knob at the back of the sub doesn't help either; seriously logitech should have put a bass adjuster on the wired remote
- a small hiss at high volume, noticeable only when u r really close to the speakers no big deal
- speaker wire length is very small, cannot really place the satellites very far
- still awaiting my logitech 20$ rebate :(
overall, am pleased with the purchase would recommend it to anybody who is looking for an affordable 2.1 system for a dorm room/bedroom/computer speakers until you have the dough for moving to a more powerful home theatre speaker system e.g like the z-680's from logitech, cant wait to get hold of them and see if they really live upto the extraordinary reviews :)
13 slick looking, great sounding, affordable speakers
ive been using these speakers for about three months now with my laptop. they are absolutely incredible. i liked them so much that i bought two more sets for family and friends. everyone who sees them comments on the cool looking and easy to use remote, which i think is one of the best features. also, you can take the grill off of the speakers to make them look even more sweet. i looked at a lot of other speakers before buying these, and for the price, these were by far the best deal. although they might not sound as nice as altec lansing speakers, they are pretty close. the volume goes way louder than i ever need it to go, and the sound is still sharp and clear at loud volumes. the only slight downfall is that the sub volume is on the back of the subwoofer. this is no problem for me though, since i keep my sub at a constant level anyways, unless it is for a party or something. from my experience, i have found logitech to make very durable and quality products. i would recommend this to anyone looking for quality upgrades to their current computer speakers. also, since the price on these is so affordable, i would not recommend any other speakers at all!
14 Great Sound!!!
These speakers are awesome! If you are looking into buying these for only for your computer, think again. You can go to radio shack or a store similar to that and buy an adapter to put it in your tv. I didnt need the adapter because I have a satelite receiver, which comes with that adapter for surround sound. You can hear the thumping in the next room over, and this is at 1/4 the volume too! If your looking to get these for a tv, they are great, as well as the computer. They wont break that easily either, the base is heavy duty, and they are all metal. I just cant get over the great sound! Great price too, only $50!
15 A+++ Speakers, Great Sound, Great Price
Ive had these speakers for little over a week now and they sound great. THERE IS NO BASS PROBLEM JUST COMBINE A SOUND BLASTER LIVE! AND THESE SPEAKERS U HAVE GREAT SOUND. IF YOU DONT LIKE BASS WITH THE SOUND BLASTER LIVE! YOU CAN TURN DOWN BASS ALL THE WAY WITH THE BASS CONTROL ON THE CARD.
16 THERE IS NO BASS PROBLEM! GREAT SET++
People were trying to fix "too much bass problem" with "position of the speakers" or it isolation with the towels....
I had exactly same situation... I was going crazy...finally after useless maneuvers I decided to upgrade my sound processing hardware ...I bought the Sound Blaster Live 24 bit sound card (before I had SoundMax onboard)
Now there is no more BASS PROBLEM & I am able to low bass level all the way down...sound is awesome
Plus a lot of useful software
Also I did not like the wooden panels of the satellite speakers.
I "painted" them with duct tape. Now it is silver set ;)

17 2nd set thumps!!!!
The first set sounded great, except for songs w/ a lot of bass. Left speaker rattled a little. Sent it back & got replacement set within 5 days. Awesome. 2nd set sounds great. Deserves 5 stars, but it gets a 4 due to the defective 1st set. A steal for $35 - $10 mir & free shipping. If this deal happens again, I'll buy some for next xmas for gifts.
18 Great bargin
My previous speakers had come with a computer I bought almost 10 years ago. They still worked and seemed fine to me but then I saw these speakers (including a rebate) and decided to upgrade.
Boy, what a difference.
I play a lot of games and do work with music on my machine and I had no idea of what I was missing out on until I got these speakers.
They look great and they are nice and compact so they don't take up a whole lot of desk space.
Certainly worth the money.
19 great sound, works good with TV!
I got these speakers for my tv set. i have a 20" sony trinitron TV. it only has one speaker. (not very good sound).
so, i purchased these speakers, and hooked them up to my tv. by default, they hook up using a 3.5mm jack. (headphone). also, you can hook them up via rca audio cables, (adapter is included) i plugged it in, and PRESTO! good, clean sound, and deep bone rattling bass! this product is awesome. the only thing i don't like is that the sub woofer volume is on the back of the subwoofer. other than that, this is a well designed product! this is a better alternative than paying $200 or $300 for surround sound or a new speaker system for your tv. these work flawlessly for your pc too! (actually they are intended to be used with a pc).
way to go logitech!!!!
20 Z-3 Rocks
This is a very good set of 2.1 speakers for $39. It beats hands down any Altec Lansing and Cyber Acoustics speakers at this price point. Frequency response of 35-20,000 Hz is pretty standard, but the mid-range sounded quite smooth and there is none of the annoying hiss you might hear from other mid-priced speakers like some Altecs, nor the tinniness of low-end Cybers. If your room is large, you won't feel the boominess of the powerful 8" subwoofer.
21 Best 25 bucks I spent in a long time
First of all, Amazon is the best. $10 rebate plus free super saver shipping. The speakers were on sale for $34.99 plus deduct $10 for rebate. free shipping and wa la! $25 great sounding speakers. Super saver shipping was to add days to my delivery but they still came in two days. Thats great service.
Now the speakers, the wood grain looks fabulous! the grilles look good to but they come off easily like full size home audio speakers and the brushed aluminum fronts are kickin!
The sub works too good. I have found you have to experiment with sub placement in your home or office because it produces soo much bass. my computer desk is in a corner and there is a large empty area behind the desk so it doesnt need the bass adjustment turned up much. when i have the speakers on my work bench in my garage listening to my MP3 jukebox. The bass needs turned up but not much. I am surprized with the feel it in your gut punch it delivers.
Do not hesitate to purchase any of the Z-3 speakers. After hearing these speakers, I would have paid FULL POP for these at $100. and at $39 you cant go wrong.
22 Not bad and I fixed the Bass Problem!
I got these guys for $25. At this price, they are absolutely fantastic, both in sound quality and design (as computer speakers go). However, bring an audiophile myself, I did find the bass excessive even at the very lowest setting. I took a large towel, folded it, and placed it under the sub, with the open part of the sub facing down. The towel thus absorbed the bass and it was so very much better after that. :)
23 the best speakers $25 can buy
I paid $25 for these speakers. they were $35 with a $10 mail-in rebate from Logitec. I waited about a month till the price got that low, they usually sell around $50.
Initially I wanted to get the creative I-Trigue 3300 which is about $80 but it sounds great; However, getting these for 25 is a much much better buy. they sound great And I wanted to get a 2.1 system and they are truely great. very loud and clear, very nice design as well.
I highly recommend it if you can score one for around or less than $40.
24 Obnoxious, overpowering bass
I bought these speakers and sub on the basis of the great reviews they got, and the good price here on Amazon. Unfortunately, i hate them. The problem is the subwoofer, and the bass levels. I can only assume that these speakers were designed by people who think that rattling windows a block away with thumping bass is, like, the coolest thing ever. Nevermind actually listening to the music.
Even with the subwoofer level turned down to the absolute minimum, i can't enjoy my music. All i can hear is 'BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOOOOOOOOM BOOM' from the sub. Classical music is unlistenable. Jazz is annoying. Nothing sounds good except for hip hop, which i rarely listen to.
Just be warned. If you want a bass-thump broadcasting station, these speakers are for you. If you want to listen to music, look elsewhere.
BTW - i'm aware that i've only had these speakers for a day, and that they haven't broken in. However, in my experience break-in usually tames tinny treble, rather than reducing bass. I'll see how they sound in a week, and report back.
25 Good set of 2.1 speakers for the price
This speaker set is probably the best 2.1 setup under $100 that Logitech makes. It has the same subwoofer as their other sub-$100 systems, but the satellites are why you should buy these. Very nicely constructed and have that high-end feel to them. The grilles come off if you like the exposed look.
Put the subwoofer in the corner of the room and you will be amazed. The remote is a nice feature to have as well. Im always able to get to the volume control wherever it is.

26 great product for ipod, portable CD and other
PRO:
* great sound for a small to medium size room
* great dynamic range -- probably better then my "big" stereo
* can connect to pretty much anything with a LINE OUT plug
* great design, looks and feel.
* perfect companion for ipod, portable CD player and laptop
* potentially great rebates from Logitech (haven't received yet though)
CON:
* a bit bass heavy
* tweeter grills may interfere with dynamic range (but this may also be my imagination)
* not easily portable due to cables and size
* may require occasional adjustment of connections to avoid crackle (this happened twice in 2 months but was never a problem)
* made in China (like everything nowadays)
27 Great speakers, a couple of minor problems
I'm delighted to have these excellent speakers. They perform superbly, with crystal clarity all the way up to the maximum volume I can sustain in my thin-walled apartment. Although I'm going to bring up two negative issues, don't get the idea that I'm not super-happy with this purchase.
Other reviewers have mentioned a weak midrange. I experienced it as an overly strong high end. As I edged up the volume, I found myself feeling limited by the highs getting almost painful. My music software's equalizer wasn't able to tune out the problem. What I'm about to say may offend some, but what I did was to partially cover the tweeter output with black electrical tape. It didn't kill the high end, and I still hear great crispness -- but now I can crank it up and feel a uniform fullness and power.
There is only one connector, the one that plugs into the back of the subwoofer. All other connections are hardwired. I had no problem stripping the separate wires in the harness apart, but even so, in my setup, this translated to a restriction on the arrangement of the components. I found an arrangement that works, but it wasn't my first choice. I would have appreciated a way to insert a Monster Cable extension cord.
28 A really good deal
These are some nice speakers, with a very attractive price. If you count in the mail-in rebate, than they are the best in their price range (<30$). I've previously ownved Creative Labs T2900 2.1 speakers, which are good speakers as well. I'll compare the 2.
1. Looks: really sleak looking, a combination of wood and aluminum, rather small speakers and impressive subwoofer. You'd have problems finding any better ones in terms of looks. Beats Creative hands down.
2. Sound quality: clear sound, nice treble and low frequencies. Bass is a little too boomy if set too high. Otherwise, it shakes the floor pretty much all the time. They are great for music, and the movies sound great, however if there are too many explosions your neighbors will complain for sure, even if you set the bass at the minimum. More clear spund than Creative, and definitely more powerfull.
3. Controls: sleak remote, however the control for the subwoofer is not on it. True, you don't change it that ofen, but T2900 has a much better wired remote, with bass control (to which you can also connect your MP3 player direclty). Also, sometimes even the lowest setting for the bass is not low enough for Z3, whereas for T2900 you pretty much can turn down the bass completely.
4. Cables: both sets are easy to install, with a plus for Z3 which allows you to have more mobility (longer cable for remote and computer).
Highly recommended.
29 One of the few good bargains left!
These speakers are classy looking, high quality and excellent sounding. I read many reviews before purchasing them, nearly all good, and I agree - they are fine speakers. The bass is solid and tight and the midrange and treble are open and clear. They are easy to install. The desktop volume control is smooth as silk and makes it convenient to adjust the volume. It also provides a headphone jack. They are truly a bargain at their current price, and an excellent match for a notebook or a desktop computer. Love 'em!
30 Just Beautiful
I bought these speakers here with the 20 dollar rebate and i couldnt be happier. For their sound quality and depth, they could cost well over $70. They have great deep bass, precise highs, and a full sound. They are only lacking some depth in the midtones, but with tweaking they become great. The volume nob is exellent, its simple yet brillant. The only thing this is lacking is a bass volume knob instead of the one on the subwoofer. These speakers look as great as they sound, and are simply the best you can buy for the money.
sound- 8.7/10 value-11/10 bass-9/10 style-10/10 setup-10/10 overall- 9.4/10
31 Great Speakers, Great Price!!
I was thinking of buying these here at amazon, but decided to go to my local Best Buy store first, to see how they sound. They sounded ok, but they were the only ones left in stock. Knowing my way around getting good deals, I asked if I could buy them as an open box item, and the manager sold them to me for 20 bucks! Luckily I had a $20 gift card on me so I only had to pay $0.99 for them, for the tax!! Once I got hope to set them up, i noticed that the wires were a little too short but when i carefully torn them appart, they were perfect. The luxury of the included remote is very convenient, but the speakers did miss some highs though. So in Windows Media Player, I played around with the high/mid/low and got them to sound perfectly! The bass shakes the floor of my bedroom, the design is very stylish too! I love the nice heavy aluminum stands on the speakers. Deffinetly a bset buy! I would recommend them to anyone, they're GRRREAT!
32 Excellent for $30
With the mailin rebate this speaker (...). Even with super saving shipment it only takes 3 days to deliver. Excellent speaker for this price, can't ask for more. Nice bass and satellite speaker, I didn't regret buying them at all.
33 great sound
Mine have been rained on a few times and still sound great, wind will never knock them down (the footings are metal) and they just look sweet. I can't get over the sound, plenty of depth and volume. Pleasantly surprised.
34 Subwoofer placement is critical - then they can be great.
I was really excited to replace my Harman Kardon sub/sats that came with the Dell.... the truth is the HK's were actually really pretty darn good. But I thought I'd make the leap to something better. The Z3's came, I unpacked them, and hooked them up. The first thing you notice is that the satellites are very heavy.... ah, a good sign....??? I placed the satellites on the desk and the subwoofer on the floor under my desk. Fired up the system. Ugh. Terrible. Granted, the subwoofer has an independent volume control, but no matter where you set that, the separation from sub to sats is horrible. The sats are too treble'y, the sub is too boomy (in a bad resonant way) and so all you hear is screachy treble and this really weird crappy boomy sound from under the desk. Keep reading, it gets better... I wasn't willing to throw in the towel, so I went to Home Depot, bought some wood, and built a box, 14" high, 10" square all sides. I filled the box with sand to kill the resonance, and put the sub on the box. Now the sub sits on this box under my desk, with the sats sitting on the desk right over it.
Simply bringing that sub up to nearly the same level as the sats made a HUGE difference; I mean the critical difference. I'm sure that sitting what is basically a low-quality sub on 40 lbs of sand has helped it 1000% as well. It has made the sub very clean with none of that goofy resonant boominess left. So for the $60 + $25 other materials, I have a speaker system that was everything I hoped for!
35 excellent
These speakers look sweet. The wired remote is very nice and the sound is very good (but not great).
For the price it is definetely a good deal.
36 Attractive and decent-sounding speakers, but not much volume
Logitech's Z-3 speakers are a quality set of basic stereo-plus-subwoofer speakers for use with a computer, game unit, or small near-field (close-up) audio setup. They are quite pretty, with faux-wood cabinets and brushed metal accents, and despite their small size are quite heavy. While the set is not exceptionally loud for its rated power, the subwoofer provides substantial bass (perhaps too much at higher settings), and the stereo mid- and high-range satellite speakers offer smooth sound, an attractive and functional design, and solid metal bases for stability. The wired remote, with its simple power button, large analog volume knob, and funky blue LED power light, is an especially nice design.
I purchased the Z-3 speakers for use with a digital stage piano in our living room. Logitech includes a wired-in male mini-stereo plug (the kind that connects to a computer, portable CD player, or other mini-headphone jack), as well as an adapter that converts the mini plug to two female RCA jacks, which plug into standard left and right RCA cables used by stereo systems. I needed additional adapters (which I had, fortunately) to convert those RCA connectors to 1/4" mono phono plugs on the musical keyboard, but that was to be expected, since the Z-3s aren't aimed at musicians anyway.
Wiring up the system was straightforward: the power plug is part of the subwoofer, so you don't have to worry about multiple power cables snaking around-which also means there's no way to run the satellite speakers alone, without the subwoofer. Oddly, you must separate the main cables (which connect the subwoofer to the satellites and remote in a bundle) by peeling the wires away from each other, like licorice strips, to get them to the length you need, which is something the otherwise-good (and very short) manual fails to mention. As shipped, the free cables are too short to reach either side of a computer monitor, never mind a piano. Some might be wary of doing any wire-separating without anything in writing to make clear that it's safe (which it is, since you're just peeling off some rubber). The satellites are very nicely designed, with two stable cast-metal feet and removable soft speaker grilles that protect from poking fingers but don't seem to colour the sound significantly.
The volume remote is worth a mention on its own. Some PC speakers provide all sorts of doodads on the remote (or just put the controls on one of the speakers), and they often use little clicky buttons to control the volume. The Z-3 gives you just the basics, and is better for it. There is a power switch (which doubles as mute-just turn the power off!) and a very large, smooth-feeling old-style volume knob. There is a standard mini-headphone jack, slightly recessed, which could be awkward if your phones have a bulky plug, but none of mine do. The LED power button is a trendy blue, and perhaps a tad bright if you use it in a dark room. The remote itself is plastic, but feels solid and well built, like the rest of the set.
Although the Z-3s are rated at 40 watts total power (17 for the two satellites, 23 for the subwoofer), they don't seem to have much more overall real-world volume than my old Yamaha YST-M7 computer speakers, which lack a subwoofer and are only supposed to put out 10 watts total. That shows how meaningless wattage ratings really are for these kinds of speakers. But it's good for me, since my young daughters tend to turn everything to 10 if given a chance, and when 10 isn't that loud, it can be a relief. If you crank up the Z-3 subwoofer (it has a separate bass knob on the back), you can get room-shaking bass, of course, but at the expense of being able to hear much high-end articulation from the satellites. Apparently, if you have a hotter source signal than the piano I used, turning the Z-3s up yields too much high end in the sound, but I didn't find that in our setup.
With the stage piano, I found a subwoofer setting just a few notches above minimum to work best. The high keys give a realistic tinkle, while the lowest ones vibrate the keyboard authentically, and the midrange is rich and lush. Overall, the Z-3s beat my old Yamahas for overall richness and evenness of sound. Audiophiles might disagree, but they'd be spending hundreds or thousands of dollars for speakers, while the Z-3s barely break three figures in Canadian dollars. It would be nice to have some equalization control for the midrange and high end, but few computer speaker systems offer that, and it's always possible to add an external EQ unit between the sound source and the speakers if you insist.
There are less expensive "2.1" PC speaker systems, as well as more powerful and better-sounding ones, but if you want a set of speakers that look good in addition to sounding just fine for most near-field, low-volume applications, the Logitech Z-3 might be your ticket. For my application, they're great.
37 Great sound! Sexy looks!
Upgrading your speakers are THE most positive step in getting better sound. I upgraded to these and not 5.1 surround due to the fact I am on my computer too much as it is. If you want good clean sound, get em' prices are dropping fast!
Pros: good clean sound, great looks, small but VERY sturdy, great build quality. Part of the high-end Z series from logitech. rubber not foam surrounds for drivers. removable speaker covers (I leave off for looks) Not terribly expensive, buy online for better savings!!!!
Cons: liked more power, but they are satillite speakers. no bass volume control on the remote, located on the back of the sub, no bass port on sub. Ummmmm..............not free? that is all I can think off.
I was looking at the i-trigue to match the creative brand speaker with my creative brand Audigy 2 sound card, another nice speaker, but this was deeper.
