1 Close but not close enough to perfect
They could have been the most perfect 2.1 speakers, but when the unwanted pops and clicks started I just wanted to give them away to get rid of the noise. They are very powerful the wired remote is a plus for me, because my children tend to loose my remotes. They are easy to setup and I have no problem with the size and placement of the speakers in my computer setup. But the poping and clicking is driving me crazy. I must turn the speakers off when not using them or the poping and clicking will remind me to trun them off. It's not the speakers I have switched from right to left and the noise is still there. I have shut down the computer and detatched the speaker cord fromt the soundcard and the noise is still there. The problem is with the amp itself. I will contact tech support and see if I can RMA them. It's a shame that this set of speakers are rated THX and they suffer from a poor electrical design. Now I must spend more money and purchase another pair of speakers from another manufactor.
2 WOW
for the 80 dollars i spent i'm simply impressed. They sound amazing and the sub it loud and sounds very nice. any one comparing this 2.1 system to a 5.1 or a system that cost 100 dollars or more systems arent too bright. for the price you pay you can't get more for your money, 40 watts rms and an 8" sub . . . . simply awesome. they sounds amazing too for a cheaper 2.1 system. A must buy for anyone who doesnt want to waste there money on an expensive system.
3 READ THIS REVIEW
Anyway by the time you will get this review the Z2200 is no longer in production. As many others after 3 months I had problems with the LEFT speaker. For sure its a technical problem with the system because this is not an unic case. For the first two months my rating was 4.5 :)
After I had the problem my rating was 2, after I talked to Logitech customer service, and they replace my speakers right away with the Z2300 my rating went up to 3.
So of you bought them within one year, call customer support and they will replace them.
4 This is worth a second look
I purchased my Z2200 through Amazon for around a $110 before a $50 Logitech Rebate. I received the rebate within 6 weeks and I was also glad to have received the product on time and in perfect shape.

I am relatively green to the subject of acoustics. This set of speakers is the best I have ever owned and so you will have to forgive any hyperbole.

The speakers are THX certified and that encouraged me to go ahead and put in the cash. I was certainly surprised by the clarity of sound, power and overall quality of the speakers and associated controls.

Functionality:
The Satellite speakers come with useful, smart dust covers. The speakers are otherwise all metal and look equally stunning without the covers. It is easy to connect and setup, the control panel rests on your desktop and also allows you to extend your headphones through the speakers. You may position the dial exactly by my keyboard. I have since then stopped using the software controls to adjust the volume. The dials also include bass control.

Quality:
I am not the best person to write about how well the speakers perform. I would definitely risk saying that the Bass is the richest I have heard from a set of desktop speakers. This has a lot to do with the way the sub-woofers were built and the materials that were used.

My audio collection has taken on new meaning with these speakers, game playing, movies and other multi-media experiences are enhanced too. I sorely miss having a remote to control the volume (unfair?!!)

For those who can shell out a little more, I would recommend the 5.1. If this is as far as your budget will stretch, I would not hesitate to suggest these speakers. Also, make sure you have a sound-card that will match the abilities of these speakers.
5 Long Term Review
Pros:
I am pleased to say that these speakers have been pumping sweet highs and throaty lows consistently for the entire year I've had them. This is this first product I've ever felt strongly enough about to actually write a review on amazon. They are just that good. I've got them plugged up to a zd7000 HP laptop and they reproduce great sound from just about anything I throw at them; they've been able to handle music from iTunes, DVD movie soundtracks, and f/x from pc games. I've also used them to play music straight from portable cd players and every once in a while from BOSS sound samplers. These speakers are quality built, durable, and overall a good value. The included headphone jack on the remote is an added bonus, and the setup was quick and easy.

Cons:
Although the subwoofer is more than adequate to shake the room, they can be boomy on certain types of music (hip hop, heavier rock). I usually handle this by adjusting some equalizer settings.
6 Speakers and Static
Initially i was quite impressed by the quality of sound from these relatively in expensive speaker but as some one else pointed out, with in weeks i started receiving static from my LEFT speaker (why only LEFT.........I dont know) but it is terribly annoying. Now i am back to listening my music on headphone and i wonder why i bought them. I visited logitech's product support site and that was no help. I guess there is reason why they are discounting these speakers so much.
Be informed about the static problem while making your decision.
7 Died within 2 months
After researching dozens of products I decided to go with these and skip a 5.1 setup. Sure, they sound good, no complaints really. The only major one I have is that I live in an apartment. The bass is too loud, even when turned ALL the way down. This makes it very annoying when playing games at night.

After 2 months I started to get extremely loud static/popping in my left speaker. Even with the volume ALL the way off. It's the LEFT jack on the subwoofer that went bad. It's not the soundcard. It does this if I switch around the speakers and even without it connected to anything. I've also tried moving the speaker far away from anything else and still get the same thing.

I'll probably go out today and get a different brand. Anyway, these are great i'm sure if they last. If they died for you, i'm sure you'd be giving them the same review.
8 Awesome speakers, better price
These speakers are amazing. I went to a computer store and listened to all the speakers they had for about half an hour, and these are the ones I decided were the best. As luck would have it, they didn't have them in stock, but I went home and found them here for even cheaper. Took 9 days short of a month to get here, but it was worth the wait. Highly reccomended, and you can't beat the price. I've got them in my bedroom and a listening to them at a reasonable volume, it's currently at less than a quarter power.
9 Why Settle for Less?
The new age of multimedia means higher standards in audio, video, and hardware. One of the main hardware components in the age of MP3s and digital audio players is a good set of multimedia speakers. I used a few sets of computer speakers over the past number of years and was generally happy with them all. While there are some great looking speakers created for the computer world today, Logitech concentrates on sound. This is not to say that the Z-2200s are an ugly set of computer speakers. On the contrary, they are a very professional-looking, solid set of speakers that feel more like a quality stereo than something you'd get thrown in a computer package. After you plug them in, you will notice they sound just as good as they look. The bass is clear and strong. Unlike many other speakers of this price range, distortion is unheard. While there is a bit of a hiss when the system is turned up all the way, you must consider that this set will not need to be turned up all the way..rarely half way, as a matter of fact. These beat the power and quality of any shelf system I've heard, which for the most part are much larger than this relatively compact set. The only element of this set that may be a space problem for some people is the subwoofer. Around the size of a standard milk carton, this bass pounding monster is a bit large to keep under a desk, so you'll want to clear a bit of floor space off by your desk. As other reviews will note, these speakers hit all the highs mids and lows you'd want to hear when listening to music. By meeting THX Certification standards, they have gone through many sophisticated tests measuring things like range and distortion levels. Sound like this is far greater than the 100 dollar price tag may suggest. On the other hand, there are a few features in this set that could arguably be better. The two main limitations of this set are that there is only one input and the RCA cables are hard-wired to the speakers. While extensions are available, regular speaker cables would have been a much better choice for such great speakers. In regard to the single input, I would have liked the option to plug both my computer and iPod into this set at the same time. These features were probably left out to keep the price down. I must note that most sets below 100 dollars are the same. I also think it would have been a much better design choice to have the audio jack come directly from the subwoofer and not the remote. Based on the length of the cords, it limits placement opinions. While the controller is very handy, it would be a lot better if it was a bit more heavy. It's lack of weight makes it slide around the the desk when you try to turn the knob, which takes away from an otherwise fantastic sound experience. I honestly cannot find any other complaints about this set. If you're planning on getting a set of JBL, Altec Lansing, or other stylish computer speakers, you're going to get good sound, but half the price tag is going into the unique looks. If you get these speakers, you''ll be getting sound that is twice the quality of other speakers in this price range..even the over-priced Bose speakers at double this price. Do yourself a favor and buy these. The sound will simply blow you away.
10 Excellent speakers for the money
I was looking long and hard for new 2.1 speakers and came across the Logitech Z2200. For the money, these speakers are very loud and can really kick the bass. The 200 Watt capacity paired with my Audigy 2 ZS sound card can really punch my MP3s to the next level. I love the large subwoofer and the sound from the satellites is very good. I love the wired control unit for its simple yet effective controls and the headphone jack for easy access for times when I want to jam with my headphones. All in all, a great set of speakers that can give you great sounds.
11 Awesome Speakers ..................
The speaker set is simply superb.
Worth the wait. I expected a small pair of speakers, but these ones were huge. It is a great bargain for $50 (After rebate ofcourse).

Really happy :D
12 Worth the wait
This @#$%@# speakers took forever to get here. I ordered them Oct 19th, finally got them today. Go to logitech's site and pick up the rebate while you are are waiting.

These speakers rock. I'm glad I didnt break down and pick up a set of cheaper speakers.
13 I dont know yet
Wow, I ordered my speakers over three weeks ago, and they still havent shipped yet. Im sure these are good speakers but I may never know cause I may never get them.

A still hopeful, unsatisfied Amazon customre
14 Hands down best speakers i've heard
I tested out a million speakers while I waited for these to come off the back order. Couldn't get em ANYWHERE. But it took about 2 weeks and amazon had em to me. Easily the best sound I've had for my pc. I won't bore you with details but they are soooo powerful and clear its not funny. I am hearing details in songs that I didn't know were there. And when I have it turned down , I can still hear it perfect and clear as a bell.

Great speakers, take it for what its worth and just buy them. I had the z-640's and these are like 10 times better. Totally love em. I'm the biggest music junky too. Haven't tried em for movies and stuff.. just mp3's. (but thats all i wanted them for anyway.) WICKED!
15 Good for the price
This is a nice speaker set for the money (I paid $109), but I am not quite as enthusiastic as most other reviewers seem to be. If you dig into the specs, you'll see the advertised wattage output is with 10% THD (distortion), which is absurdly high (most systems are well below 1% THD). Additionally, since the cords are integral (attached) to the speakers, you are a bit limited in your speaker placement options.

The construction is solid and well finished. The wired remote with volume, bass and power controls and headphone jack are nice. The blue light didn't bother me. The sound was good at the desk, but not great in the rest of the room (probably due to speaker placement).
16 BOOM CAR!:-(
The Logitech Z2200 were speakers I wanted to like. The appearance, fit and finish, and controls were first rate. I loved the bluish lit desktop volume control.

The only problem is that the sound is awful, particularly on any music. The Bass is overpowering and rattley, even at low volume! Sort of like a bucks-down 25 year old Toyota "Boom Car" with the 39.95 stereo amped up as an afterthought. Unless you want the cachet of "got any weed?", 40s in paper bags, fresh sprayed graffitti, and broken glass in your den or room.

Listen before you buy!
17 The best 2.1 Speaker System
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just received it today. Setting up was easy. Turn up the volume and the sound is amazing! This speakers worth more than $200. The bass is great. With high volume it doesn't have any distortion. I greatly recommend this speaker system.
18 amazing sound quality and dynamics..
Incredible dynamics and range. Smooth and refined sounding at lower volumes but capable of rattling windows if you're so inclined. I listened to a number of desktop systems before buying these. Klipsch and Cambridge Soundworks both make comparable 2.1 systems but the smoothness of the Logitech system was the clincher for me. Computer speakers used to be a poor substitue for a nice pair of bookshelf speakers and a sub but not any more. The 2200's come so close in the near field to what a good pair of bookshelf speakers can do that I no longer find myself distracted by issues of sound quality. Great work Logitech. Fantastic product.
19 Great Speakers from Logitech
These speakers are great!

A word of advice, give them some break-in time (about 10 hours at 25%, careful though... they're kinda loud) you'll notice the difference after that breakin time. Also start ripping songs at higher rates and use a good sound card, it makes the whole experience a lot better.

Setup was simple, color connected cords and where the wired remote goes is obvious. For those of you out there wondering how far this remote will reach... try about 5 feet, not that long considering its a remote attached to the sub on the ground. You're in luck though, the speakers themselves will reach farther than the remote (not sure how long they are). Make sure you place the sub in the right place, it can make a big difference.

Ok, onto the sound. After the breakin time, these things sounded amazing. Lots of Power, DEEP lows, nice midrange, and great highs (due to the phase plug in the center that replaces the tweeter). I'm saying all this when the speaker covers are on, when you take them off and the sound becomes a lot more clearer (I guess the covers weren't acoustically transparent). By far the best deal for speakers in comparison to the Klipschs, Altecs, and Creatives. The Klipschs Promedia 2.1's may sound a bit better in the highs, but the reliability issue with them (dead speakers) is a big problem that isn't worth the trouble.

All in all, if you want something that can blow you away in quality without breakin the bank much, these are the speakers to get.
20 awesome speakers.
Coming from an audiophile these speakers are excellent for the price. They are powerful, compact, and provide a rich sound. Lets start with the midranges. The midranges have a nice heavy magnet and you can feel that these speakers are built good. The only thing i would like is a tweeter on the main speakers, but the aluminum phase plug seems to do the job fine. The subwoofer is just as good if not better than the one I have on my sony home theatre system. The remotes awesome it has a headphone jack which my old altec lansings never had. The subwoofer is massive with a huge port hole and its pretty heavy. Another thing the speakers don't have is a treble control. What i reccomend to do to solve that problem is use a Realplayer on your computer intsead of the windows media player because the real player has its own equalizer and you can adjust the midrange, bass, and treble to whatever you please
21 Size does matter
5 Stars says it all. Very good for the price (...). These speakers and subwoofer are bigger than I thought from looking at the picture. I love the blue LED on the remote; it matches my power/HD LEDs on my case :)

22 Wow! ...and, wow! ...and, wow!!!!
For the pittance that this thing cost me (about seventy bucks after rebate, shipped free from Dell) it really provides a HUGE HUGE HUGE bang for the buck. No, it's not audiophile quality but this ain't no audiophile price either---and it blows away higher end competitors like the Klipsch and (scoff! choke! gag!) Bose 2.1 systems!

PROS:

1. 40x2 watts RMS on the speakers, 120x1 watts RMS on the sub...those are staggering numbers for computer speakers in this price bracket! (Tip: when buying any type of audio, always ignore all slimy advertising tricks like "Musical Power" or "Musical Output" just compare RMS, that actually means something.) The result is room-filling, wall-shaking power if you choose to crank it, and flawless, crystal-clear undistorted sound clarity if not.

2. Thundering sub! Yes it can't keep up with a three hundred dollar Polk standalone sub but do you really need that good of a sub for your COMPUTER? I mostly keep mine at about 25-50% levels and it fills out the low ends nicely of the classical and jazz I mostly listen to.

3. Wired remote with separate subwoofer control...absolutely golden! Beware the 2.1 systems without the independent subwoofer control, you'll be drowning in bass.

4. Sleek, classy design---doesn't try to go for that gross "ghetto" look, thank God.

CONS:

1. Why oh why don't they make the satellites with separate binding posts so you can put in higher quality and longer speaker cables??? It can't add *THAT* much to the price!!!

2. Midrange is lacking, unless you tweak your software equalizer. I use Winamp (excellent and clean freeware, BTW) which allows me to do so beautifully. But I kind of wish the satellites were two-ways with really good crossovers...probably would cost an extra hundred bucks right there, I bet.

3. A short and again (groan!) hardwired remote control cable means that I can't have the remote on my desk and the sub sitting three feet behind me against the wall, where it'll sound much better than in the middle of the room. Those of you who don't mind sitting facing the wall won't have this problem, I *have* to sit facing the door (much better feng shui and work atmosphere, just try it sometime) so it is kind of a pain.

Still, easily 5 stars at this price-quality ratio.
23 Very satisfied with performance/price
Disregarding price, this is a very good 2.1 multimedia system.

These speakers have a top-notch subwoofer that is one of the best in this class, while the satellites have a clear midrange and sharp high end. The amplifier and power handling is also top-notch with 40w sustained RMS per satellite and 120w sustained RMS to the subwoofer.

I would say this is on par with my set of Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers... the Logitech having better bass response, while the Klipsch are slightly better in the upper frequencies (due to the horn tweeter). Even so, the Logitechs have very good upper frequency response for satellites with a single driver.

24 Beautiful!
I just bought these speakers for my dorm room. I could not be more impressed with the quality of the sound. The subwoofer is definitely loud enough; I am afraid to turn up the volume for fear of disturbing the other people in my dorm...even the ones a few floors down. If I had to give one complaint, I would say that the subwoofer doesn't get quiet enough, but this is easily solved by adjusting the software equalizer.

I definitely recommend these speakers to anyone who loves great sound quality and a loud sound. If you play music quietly, save your money and buy cheap sub-$50 speakers...these aren't made to play quietly (although they do play softly with excellent quality, but whats the point?).
25 Even great for pianist!
One information is that if you go to tigerdirect.com, you will see $50 mail in rebate information. You may use it to make it around $52. I just received yesterday, and found that it is a great product; size of woofer is a little bit big, but design and remote controler is so nice and pretty. sound? well, expect as you can. You will never regret at around $50!
26 Better input and separation = better sound
I got these speakers exclusively for playing music encoded from my collection of CDs into mp3 format. One problem with many reviews is that you have no idea what quality of input people are pumping into these speakers or how they have their speakers set up.

I've found much better performance for music if:

(a) you ensure your music is encoded with a quality encoder with good settings. ie. using "lame" with the "--preset standard" setting which uses a variable bitrate instead of just a single bitrate. This results in less bits for less complicated parts and more bits for more complicated parts. I think you'll find it results in a cleaner sound with less boomy bass with a penalty of 50% more size over constant 128kbps encoding. You can turn the volume up higher without blasting-- the sound remains clean.

(b) fix the gain rate on your quiet mp3s using something like mp3gain (non-lossy). I'd recommend only using mp3gain (non-lossy tool) to raise the gain on really really quiet cd's you have (Dire Straits, Fleetwood Mac, etc. are some problems for me) and not use it to reduce gain on louder music [louder music tends to be more recent music which has a highly-compressed dynamic range to make the music more punchy which doesn't cope well with gain reductions... it tends to sound lifeless]. I preferred to increase gain manually more than the program recommended across the whole album (ie. for a group of files in one album: mp3gain -g 3 *.mp3) You can compare your gain-adjusted file to another one that is at a good volume. I found I got a lot more detail out of the quiet music I never knew was there because I never played it loud enough).

(c) separate your satellites! I have mine on telescoping arms (about a 5ft spread) on a movable box that contains the sub. This creates your soundstage and makes the sound more ambient.

I went to three stores and listened to all of their speakers. The problem with this is (a) the demo music is poor quality; (b) the teen salesmen crank up the bass and the volume and you get no feeling for clarity; (c) the sub and speakers are all clumped closely together at chest level; (d) there's plenty of competing noise.

Despite listening to plenty of speakers in all price ranges, I ended up buying these Z2200s without hearing them based on reviews and the THX certification. I had no confidence I was experiencing the true capability of speakers I did listen to.

I'm happy with these speakers. They can fill a room nicely even at moderate/low volume. Properly-encoded music is clear and remains clear when the volume is turned up (not that I turn it up that far but I can turn it up farther after re-encoding all my 128kbps mp3s to the --preset standard variable bitrate).
27 Great speakers after tuning
The Z-2200 is hands down the best value for a 2.1 speakers on the market today. (...) you can't find anything even remotely close in fidelity or power. An interesting fact is that the Z-2200 has exactly the same speakers and subwoofer as Logitech's top of the line Z-680 but at a fraction of the price (the Z-680 retails for around $200).

The Z-2200 sounds really good in general. I listen to both classical and more contemporary music as well as play games and the Z-2200 has performed flawlessly in all situations. Audiophiles would probably complain about distortion but to my untrained ears, I've not noticed anything deficient.

The wired remote is very convenient although it is a commonly seen item now. It has controls for volume and bass as well as a port for headphones. This means that you don't have to reach to the back of the computer to plug in headphones. Logitech also includes a component adaptor to let you plug a VCR, TV or a game console into the system.

The only problem that I've had is that out of the box, the Z-2200 has excessive bass. While this might not be noticeable in games, it's definitely noticeable when playing music. After adjusting the bass level, however, the problem is largely gone.

In general, these are great speakers (...), an outstanding value.
28 Great sound and worth every penny
I was impressed by how clear, responsive, and hiss free the speakers are at a regular and very low listening volumes. They tend to become twingy at higher volumes, about 2/3 max volume, but this is easily compenstated for by using the computers equilizer. The very low frequencies are not present but for 99% of music and movies I watch it doesn't matter. The sound is far suppier than my $300 Aiwa stereo which I bought a couple years ago which is several times larger in size. Great deal with the $50 rebate and well built.
29 Where is this sound coming from?
These speakers will blow you away. It's amazing to see such small speakers that are at such a mid range price throw out the sound it does. I bought these for my computer for games when I move to college but I found it more useful hooked up to my DVD player. They are THX certified for a reason and you can tell it right after you hook them up. The first thing out of the package was hooking my iPod to it. Wow! Sound filled the room like someone had hooked a up a complete surround sound unit. Even when the speakers where right next to each other, I could make out the crisp clear sound. The bass is very impressive as well. If I chose to, I could shake this whole dorm floor. The only complaint is that the speakers have their own cord but the wired remote has two seperate cords. One from the bass to the remote and one from the remote to your computer. This caused a problem of the remote being only a specific distance from the bass and the computer. With my computer sitting close to the bass here at the dorm, it doesn't cause as much of a problem as when I hooked it up to my TV at home. Aside from that, I would seriously suggest getting these if your limited on money but a killer sound system for either your computer, gaming machines, or your living room TV. Trully an amazing product.
30 Loud!
I got these 3 weeks ago and I wanted to take my time about writing a review...I am an audiophile so there are only 2 choices in this price range for a 2.1 setup, this or the klipsh 2.1 THX . I honestly would have gone with the Klipsh's but for all the complaints of faulty design and what not. If you read that Klipsh section, everyone is wowed by the sound but they suffer from inferior design and obvious faults. Almost one third of the reviewers had either complaints about that or the warranty. Now to the Logitech's -- everyone loved the sound and it honestly compares to the Klipsh set, both are certified THX and the sound from Logitech is fabulous. I own a Bose Lifestyle (which cost $2000) and these dont lag too far behind...it only misses a bit in the high range and it doenst capture the lowest levels of base (such as in a massive attack or drum and base cd). For the price though, these cannot be beat. I am really enjoying the sound, and it is too loud for words, ive never really put the volume over 25% or the base over 50%. It is attached to a Dell labtop which has integrated sound and still it sounds fabulous. I was thinking of buying a Sound Blaster external soundcard but after hearing the sound , i decided it wasnt truly necessary at this time, besides both Itunes and Winamp has equalizers built in so the eq levels can be adjusted. Whilst the sub is heavy, this systerm takes up a remarkabley small space, making this perfect for rooms, bachelor suits/apartments or dorm rooms. The base is a bit boomy, even when it is turned down but i think i still need to work on the settings to get it perfect. Mp's need to be encoded at at least 160kbps for this, otherwise the speakers bring out every little flaw in the music, i would reccomend 192kbps. The design is superb, i love the way they look and the wired remote (with a base knob) on it is a BIG plus, as the base really does need tinkering with now and then. No other multimedia speakers comapre to this one, overall this is a fantastic buy.
31 Best 2.1 speakers ive heard yet
Im in love with these speakers easily the best speakers 2.1 speakers. In my dorm i can turn my speakers up half way and still over power all the other speakers in the dorm with the exception of the logitech 680s their 5.1 speakers. This is definiatly the best investment if u are looking for good computer speakers
32 Pretty good...
I recently got a new job and needed a set of speakers for the office. So I took my set of cheap old Polks to work and replaced them with these. I also considered the Klipsch 2.1 system, but decided to go with the Logitechs due to the rubber speaker cone surround. The Klipschs have a foam surround which can get brittle and crack after a few years.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with them. Like everyone else has said, they have some major power! The overall sound quality from the factory leaves something to be desired, however. The speakers are very bass- and treble-happy with a big hole in the midrange. I had to do some serious tweaking to the iTunes equalizer get a neutral warm sound like my old Polks had (I ran those with a flat equalizer curve).

The other thing that's slightly annoying is that it's impossible to turn the subwoofer all the way off. I live in an apartment and like to turn it all the way off at night so I don't annoy the neighbors.

There's one major reason you should get these, though. There's a $50 rebate until October 31, 2004. That drops the price into the same range as bargain-basement models from no-name manufacturers...
33 AWESOME BABY
Been listening to these speakers for about six weeks now and I've got to tell you, for the price there is no better 2.1 setup, period!
34 Excellent 2.1 speakers for a great price.
Just got mine and set them up; and they pretty much rock; great sound across all ranges, the convenience of a remote, and cool looking design makes this an awesome deal no matter how you look at it.
35 Amazing.
These speakers are outstanding. I looked around Amazon for a while and read reviews, and as everybody else has said, "I put them on 1/4 of the way up, and theyre very loud". The sound quality is excellent and the design is very sleek. The remote control is very handy to have because it allows total customization of your listening experience. Turn the bass up for some songs then easily turn it back down for others. I used to have a Logitech 640 set but these are much better. A high quality 2.1 system is definitely better than a low or medium quality 5.1 system. This purchase was surely worth the money.
36 Best overall value
No doubt these speakers are a great value. I almost bought them, but I opted for the Creative Megaworks 250D instead.
37 Awesome subwoofer didn't cover up problems
The subwoofer was really impressive, but bass was missing between the treble and the sub-bass. Also, there was more hiss than I need. One star because neither satellite speaker worked on the right channel, not even hiss. QC, anyone?
38 Great sound
I purchase these to use with k/board(Yamaha, Tyros) and wasn't sure quite what to expect. Just wanted something at home for practice and these certainly fill the bill. The bass is excellent and the mid and high are not far behind. I would highly recommend these speakers to anyone looking for an inexpensive and lightweight setup for a home keyboard. My keyboard sounds better than when I hook them up with two Roland KC500 amps. (Kc500 are approximately $500/ea)

I don't believe that anyone would be dissappointed with the quality and price of these speakers for whatever there use would be.

39 Big Sound!
These speakers are fantastic, the sound is full and bass is tight and powerful. These speakers will take anything you can throw at them- movies, music, games, whatever you fancy- and will do it all with style. These things are capable of going way too loud, without distortion.

It would be nice if the speaker wires were detachable, you can't replace them with longer/higher quality ones. The included wires were barely long enough, and I placed the sub right next to my desk- so there isn't much flexibility for placement of the speakers/sub. I would also prefer if it had a treble control, but for the price, these speakers are outstanding.

40 Best speakers I've ever owned!
The sound is incredible! No need for a fancy stereo system--just hook these up to your computer and you can rattle the walls--watch out for falling pictures as you turn up the bass. Easy to install and operate. The volume "mouse" makes adjusting the sound easy and convenient. Even sounds great at low levels. (...) (after $20 rebate and FREE shipping!) It doesn't get any easier!
41 Great Speakers, Great Sound, Great Bass, Overall Greatness!
These are hands down the best 2.1 speakers that are on the market right now. The bass is absolutely amazing astonishing. At 120 watts RMS, it has the potential to completely shake the walls and windows all over your house, and also bug the neighbors. The subwoofer is also ported, which gives for an even better, louder, punchier bass! The speakers are nice, and are comparable to tweeters and mid-range speakers. If there were actual tweeters and mid-range speakers on this speaker system, then they would be absolutely unstoppable. However, I bought this mainly for the bass and sub woofer, which is absolutely amazing.

Amazon actually took a while to process the shipment for this order (about 4 days). Normally, they are quicker though!

42 17 days later and mine still hasn't shipped
They just give me the run around when I call or email which I have done several times now. And it's STILL listed as shipping in 24 hours. I think Amazon doesn't have enough competition.
43 10 days later and mine still hasn't shipped
And yet it's still listed as shipping in 24 hrs!
44 4 days later and mine still hasn't shipped
True, estimates aren't guarantees, but - in my experience - this is typical. Annoying. I guess it will be a LATE birthday present.
45 Great speakers
A perfect set up for the computer. Really fills the room with quality sound.
46 Awesome Speakers
I just recieved these Logitech z-2200 speakers about a couple days ago, and they are awesome. The bass is amazing, and the speakers are very good. They have good highs, mids, and lows. The only problem is that the soundtouch remote doesn't have a very long cord, otherwise, they're great speakers!
47 Terrific sound!
I am very pleased with these speakers. I bought them after having read the excellent feedback from Amazon.com customers. I didn't think it was possible to get such pure, rich sound for so little. Don
48 Holy Schneikes!
Wow, what a difference. I've never owned a nice set of speakers for my computer and I'm simply shocked at how much of a difference it makes.
Whether your listening to music, surfing the web, or playing games, these speakers express a noticeable increase in the enjoyment factor. I especially like that they sound great at extremely low volumes while my wife and kids are asleep, and also at high volumes when I'm gaming or have my jukebox running.
I really can't possibly describe how happy I am with this purchase. A+
49 Best 2.1 sound system
These things will rock your house. I have 1/4 turned and it can be heard throughout my whole house. That is loud considering my house has 7 rooms. These speakers can be heard anywhere. I highly recommend these speakers to anyone who has the money to buy 2.1 speakers.
50 Best 100 dollars I spent in my life.
I am a college student and have gone through a desktop laptop mp3 player printer lcd monitor wireless mouse in the last few years, and by far this is the best thing I ever bought. I am really big on music and to be honest its all I ever need to keep my life going. The quality of these speakers is amazing. I have 2 friends who have the 5.1 system which costs more, but it really all depends on your budget. Either way you wont be dissappointed with them. They are powerful. Amazon delivery is fast. I am gonna bring these out on the beach back home and throw a party. I have done hours upon hours of research and reviews for everything out there and this is the first I am writing user feed back on a product I bought. I shall refrain from typing over 1000 word limit here. 5 stars says it all. and many thanks to logitech. Keep up the good work! ;)
51 The Bomb
I got these in today and was completly blow away hooked them to my SB 5.1 Live SC the best speakers in 2.1 config you can get don't be miss lead to think that the other higher priced 1's are better they can't hold a candel to these not saying these are cheap they were $101.94 here next cheapest was newegg $127.99 and $6.50 shipping free shipping here took only 4 days in my door Thanks Amazon You guys Rock.
52 SWEET!!
These speakers are incredible before you even consider the price! The sound is phenominal, they take up minimal space and they're $100!! What more could you want?? I have mine plugged into an iBook and use that as my stereo for my 12x14' bedroom and the room is FULL of sound (as is the woman's who lives in the apt next door, according to her).

These are great speakers... you won't be disappointed. Unless your standards for judging are truly unreasonable... but you're not like that...are you? really? :) enjoy.

53 Holy Cow...
These speakers are... downright incredible. After reading so many positive reviews I thought "Of course, I'll be the one to get a screwed up set". Man was I wrong. I woke the Friday after ordering these to the UPS guy dropping the box off at my door... which I didn't mind, I had been waiting anxiously for these to arrive all week. So after hauling the speaker box into my room I unpacked everything (I had trouble getting the damned heavy subwoofer out of the styrofoam) and went to work. After a few short minutes I had everything set up and positioned just right. I made sure to turn the sub and the volume down (after hooking up a car amp and almost blowing my eardrums I'm very careful about that now) and powered everything up. I went through a couple MP3s... nice nice, very clean sound. Not super detailed on the high end, but very crisp. I played with the sub woofer level (which is on the wired remote... which I *love*. My previous speakers I had to reach behind my sub to adjust this) and found that right in the middle was a good spot for it. Okay, good. Opened the volume control and upped the treble a little bit, helping to compensate for the slight lack thereof from the speakers. Fun!

Okay, now time for some games.(...) This is my main purpose for the computer, thus the main purpose for the speakers. Nice, rich sound and clarity... good bass level. Correction... *VERY* good bass level considering you have the control at your fingertips. And the 8" speaker can more than handle you pushing it to the full of its abilities. In any first person shooter type game, or any MMORPG game, this speaker set more than does justice to the sounds of any game.

I watched a demo movie to a game that's not released yet... and it filled me entire room with near theater quality sound and presence. This is, by far, the "most bang for your buck" purchase as far as speakers go. (...)

54 the BEST 2.1 speaker system you can get.
i bought it after i had tested the JBL Creature 2.1, Altec Lansing 251 5.1 Speakers, BOSE MediaMate, Creative Labs I-trigue L3500 2.1 and i tell you these speakers are a class apart. They are in a totally different league, they are awesome. remember one thing whether you buy these speakers or not. just don't buy anything which does not have a THX certification. it makes all the difference.
55 One word = AMAZING
These speakers are amazing, period! They are the best you will find. If you are looking for an affordable system with space saving design yet enough to pack a punch powerful enough to drive your hall RA mad, this is what you want. The system is very powerful, but it can be tamed. For those who like rich loud music to be delivered at 110% quality it can do that. On the other hand if you prefer Beethoven's 9th symphony the system will make you feel like you are listening to live music. The speaker's don't miss a beat, replicating every bit with accuracy and precision. This is what it means to have THX! The speakers are almost identical to the top of the line system Logitech ships. They are just a little bit smaller and deliver 40W(x2) plus the 120W sub. The sub is great; it is very accurate and clear. Overall this product is $30-40 less then the competition and delivers great sound. I would definitely recommend it over the competition, just go to Best buy and hear them!
56 The best 2.1 setup around!
Right out of the box I was impressed. I was not expecting the stelites and sub to be so big. After I got it all set up I gave it a test run. This sub can THUMP!! With the bass turned only half way up, my windows were vibrating. I cranked the bass knob all the way up and the bass went from loud to 747-take-off-loud. the satelites do not let the bass drown them out. 80 watts is plenty enough to still hear the rest of the sound over the 120 watt monster of a subwoofer. THis is the best 2.1 speaker setup on the market for the price.
57 as good as advertised
incredible sound. recieved today from amazon. good price and quick shipping ( even with super saver ). powerful, clean sound. the wattage allows you to crank it up without distortion. i tested several 2.1 systems of varying prices and this one beat them all easily. bottom line: if you want great sound without breaking the bank, buy them. you'll be surprised just how good they sound.
58 you just can't go wrong with these
Have had these for a few weeks now. Great product. Replaced and old Creative Labs 5.1 system. I'm much happier with 2 very nice speakers and an awesome subwoofer than with 5 cheap speakers and a sub. These speakers are very nice and the quality is unbelieveable for $100. Easy setup and the speakers are directly wired at the factory. No lamp cord like some sets give still. The volume control is great. Unless you live in a freestanding house, the volume knob will never be above 10% anyway. These things definitely crank the power! There must be better systems than this, but they will cost you more, guaranteed. You will not regret this purchase.
59 Must buy.
Easily the best system under 100$. With a decent sound card and some software rendering, this thing will blow you away. Testing my tolerence, I put all my volume settings on the computer up and played some mp3s. I adjusted the volume of the speakers using the remote...couldnt get past halfway. My ears couldnt take it. Excellent for drowning out crappy techno and rap tunes in college dorms. You wont be disappointed.
60 Best for the price
I bought this from amazon in early Feb, excellent service. This system is absolutely marvellous for its price, I've owned many multimedia systems (incl. logitech z560, altec 641, Yamaha, and the new Klipsch Ultra 5.1), for the price this can't be beaten. Other alterntives incl. Altec Lansing 621 (satellites have tweeters, but sub is only 6.5"), Monsoon PM14 (great for music, but lacks punch/power), Creative Megaworks 250D/210D (no personal experience, but similar spec with higher price in the $130-140+ zone)... of all these, Logitech provide more than enough power for mid-sized room party, sub's 8" is very powerful and satisfying. To those ppl who are upgrading from subwooferless MM systems, or older MM systems w/ weak subs (18w, 25w subs, u get the idea), this sub will probably cause suffocation for a few moment while you're lost in the sweet ocean of bass, and for the next 5 mins more blood will be pumped by your heart than 20 mins of running in the wild naked.

With that said, there are more powerful solutions... and no i'm not talking bout z680, my roommate next door has it, the sub is about <1 in taller and wider(or length), same 8" inside, supposedly pack more punch cuz the amplifier gives more wattage... however it doesn't sound more powerful, at all. and to me the extra price of z680 incl. 3 more speakers and a decoder (which takes substantial chunk out of the price). However, Klipsch Ultra 5.1 clearly dwarfs this sub, both in size and punch... that's one HomeTheater level sub, goes very low (25hz), and with 2 (yes two) 8" in the subwoofer... it's simply titanic.

With that said, I think for the target customer, this is clearly the best choice, given that some comparable systems are not even easily find in the market (eg altec lansing 621, excellent system). For those looking for 5.1 systems for games and theatre experience, I recommend Klipsch Ultra (not the original promedia 5.1, the newest Ultra 5.1)...wholeheartedly

Another thing, take time to 'break-in' the system, at first it might sound edgy, take it slow, play at 25% vol. or so for 10 hrs... it makes a difference

One last thing, room placement matters a lot... and the material of the wall/floor matters even more. I used this system in a hollowed-walled apt, bass gets lost easily... moved it back to a concrete building for a night party, it shook the 3-bedroom like no other, the cabinet in the restroom was shaking violently. And trust me, this apt is no shack, this system is that darn good. Last but not least, it's also easier to bring around... unlike my Ultra, it's a wire-jungle

61 My Head HURTS!!!!!!
WOW WHAT A SYSTEM!!!! I only paid 8 bucks for these bad boys brand new. I had a 100 dollar coupon at Dell.com, and purchased them. I must say I was suprised at the Superior sound that came from these speakers. The subwoofer is a monster. I love it and I woudl have bought it at full price if it wasnt for the coupon.
62 very pleased
this is great. haven't had to go over 25% of max. volume; even that is LOUD. love it!
63 WOW
Incredible bass and can play anything. Quite a steal for ~$100.
64 Great Value...
For about $110, Logitech's Z-2200 system is great value that happens to carry the logo of THX certification. It has excellent clarity, more than adequate volume levels, and a powerful--although not always room-shaking--subwoofer. Whether you play a lot of games or just listen to music, it will do the job. It's also a particularly good solution for a college dorm, where space constraints can make a surround system impractical.

In short, if you want a stereo setup that provides clear, powerful sound--and doesn't send you into bankruptcy--the Z-2200 is a great choice.

65 Excellent for the $
The z-2200 are literally the exact speakers I was looking for: 2.1 speakers with solid sound for under $100 (I bought them for $93.99 from here in December, but as of this writing, the price has gone up to $110.94). I have been using these for over a month now, and I am quite pleased.
Why get a 2.1 system when you can get a 5.1 or 6.1 system for not too much more? I didn't need it. I use the speakers to listen to music 90% of the time (the other 10% is dvd's), and I don't play computer games. Also, I have a Powerbook, which lacks digital audio out, so I couldn't get real surround sound even if I wanted to and I am not a fan of the 'matrix' processing that companies put on their lower end 5.1/6.1 rigs to get a surround sound effect out of 2 channels- I prefer 2.1 to simulated surround sound. Also, low-cost 5.1/6.1 systems tend to not have the greatest sound. I would rather have an excellent 2.1 system than a mediocre or worse surround rig. Plus, you're not going to get any Dolby decoding in any speakers that cost around $100

Power: The Z-2200 is a very powerful system. The 40w/sattelite and 120w for the sub will fill up any medium size space. The sound doesn't start to break up until you get past the point of reasonability, too.

Sound: When it comes to sound, I have three priorities: tight and punchy bass (not loud and boomy), crystal clear vocals, and the ability to reproduce fine details. This system is better at all three than anything in its price range, and is better than many systems costing far more. It's always a joy to hear something new in a song that you never heard before, and I've had several of those moments since I bought these. Vocals cut through exceedingly well. The bass is quite tight, not nearly as boomy as some of its competitors, which for me is a huge plus (though for you may not be). However, even at a quarter of full volume and the bass level set at the midpoint, you'll still feel the bass. While the speakers don't have an EQ response as flat as I would prefer, I have yet to see a set of computer speakers in my price range that do. (I don't consider the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1's to be in the z2200's price range because, while their MSRP's are rather close, you won't find the ProMedia's available for anywhere near the Z2200's street price). One complaint that people may have when simply looking at the system is that it lacks tweeters. As true as this is, the metal plug in the center of the speakers is a dedicated speaker element for repducing high frequencies, eliminating the necessity of a tweeter.

Design: The speakers look good, as do the sub and remote. The only downside, and it is rather a significant one, is that the wires are hardwired to the speakers and remote. Meaning that if you somehow fray a wire, you have a dead speaker. Not good. The inability to use longer wires is mitigated by the fact that the speakers connect to the sub with standard RCA connectors, so you can just get extensions from a place like Radio Shack if you need the speakers to be further from the sub.

All in all, these are great speakers. If you're in the market for an excellent sounding 2.1 system, check these out. After all, THX doesn't certify just any product.

66 A hint to make the highs clearer
This set is AMAZING. One thing they made wrong, though, is the cover of the small speaker, which absorbs a lot of the crispness and clarity you might want. But - there's also a remedy. Just remove the covers or rip off the fabric in order to keep the speakers protected. The don't look so good anymore then, but they sound VERY GOOD.
Finally, if you want more highs (it's true other systems produce clearer highs, like the Klipsch), move up the highs on the equalizer.

Sure enough, this is one of the best systems you can get for this money - the quality is awesome.

67 100% Impressed
I can't believe you can get such great sound out of a speaker system at this price. I am way beyond satisfied with the clean, clear power of these speakers. They go extremely loud, look great, have a serious bass kick, and are super solid and high quality in appearance. All kinds of music sound good on them and they are easy to set up. Everything about them is great, including the price.
68 Excellent sound for a great price
I have recently bought this product with very much hesitation.
The sound is excellent, this thing can go pretty loud, gosh.
I really recommand this product for people who likes to listen to great quality music or music very loud with also a great quality.
When I play good techno at a loud volume, I can feel the wind going out of the subwoofer through my feet, amazing.
A very good buy.
69 astounding!!
These speakers are awesome!! Great sound, booming bass, loud as can be, and all for around $100. I spent 3 weeks looking for speakers ... reading reviews and checking specs. When i thought i had it narrowed down to 3 different sets i went down to the computer store to give them all a listen. (klipsh 2.1 pro, jbl creature, harmon kardon soundsticks)... the only of the 3 that were even close to what i wanted was the klipsh 2.1(they sounded great) but were out of stock... Then i saw the logitech's... similar specs, same wattage and actually a bit cheaper!! woo hoo!! I got them home set them up and was blown away!! They can handle heavy bass with no distortion... they are clear and did i mention LOUD!! They can easily fill a room for a party...i wasted no time checking out how they would handle everything from drum&bass to slayer.. as well as throwing in a dvd. I am a bit of an audiophile and would recomend these 100%. BUY THEM-you won't be dissapointed.
70 AWESOME!!!
THey are sweet very clear and crisp, i live in an apartment so they are way to loud to turn up much but they sound great and for 93 bucks no way u can go wrong!!!! Recommended 100% seem very solid and sturdy!!!
71 Excellent Quality, Better Price.
I've had these for about a week so far, needless to say the quality is astounding although there are no tweeters. If you want a really crisp high end, just take off the grills, problem solved. I, like most other people that read reviews, was totally scared that I would end up blowing the sub... So I heeded the advice of the pros and broke it in for about 15 hours. No blowage yet:), and I have had them pretty freakin loud. Some people complain that even when the bass is down it still overloads the satellites...well, you know, THERE IS SOMETHING CALLED AN EQUALIZER ON YOUR COMPUTER...it would pay off for you to learn how to use it. Unless you are Bill Gates, and just FEEL like spending the extra cash on the Klipsch Promedias, I wouldn't. I could almost swear they sound as awesome as my Boston Pro Series i have in my car ($600/pair).Do yourself a favor and get some!
72 great speakers... fantastic
These speakers are great. I play all of my music through MP3 on my computer, and I have used a great many speakers in search of a small unit capable of good sound. These speakers are the item for such things. they are good for computer games as well.

I recommend it. You can also turn down the bass on the woofer, which depending on the MP3/game you may need to do, this is an added bonus.

Have fun.

73 great deal
I have used many quality speakers over the past few years, and the z-2200 are an excellent deal for less than 100 bucks.

Positives:
high volumes without breaking up
inexpensive
huge subwoofer
accurate sound after they have been broken in
nice analog wired remote

Negatives:
no tweeters, only one full range speaker
fixed wire into speaker, no binding posts
subwoofer can be boomy

Overall, this is the best deal right now for 2.1 speakers. Musically, the promedia 2.1's are a better option because they have tighter bass and more accurate sound, but the logitechs are a better choice for movies and gaming because of the large subwoofer. A great buy, but I prefer my Klipschs because of the two-way satellites and the more musical subwoofer.

74 Amazing...
These speakers are amazing sounding. I can't believe they only cost $99 following the mail-in rebate. Highs are beyond clear, bass is extremely deep with no distortion whatsoever; they totally blow away anything I've ever heard in the past as far as computer sound systems go, sounding even cleaner than most, if not all lower end 4.1/5.1 systems.
75 Simply the best 2.1 you can get
these are the best 2.1 speakers you can get. awesome sound quality, extreme bass. it can handle anything you throw at it. i use these speakers for music, dvd's, xbox, and sounds just as good as any home theatre system.
76 Simply the best
The best 2.1 speakers that you will ever find and at a reasonable price. The sound is amazing and can handle anything that you give it. Even at the very lowest base setting it still shakes the walls!
77 Freaking amazing.
Power! I can only turn this thing up 1/4 way before my ears are hurting I have yet to turn it up halfway. The satellites are clear and the bass is strong and deep. The remote is very cool the blue LED is strong and the bass and volume knobs are very handy. There is a headphone jack on there also. Just what i expected with THX and logitech
78 Best 2.1 Speakers Available
These speakers rock. I only turn the volume about 1/8. It's amazingly loud. The subwoofer produces a lot of bass. And the satellites are crisp and clear. Just what THX certification means. The price just can't be beat. Grab em!
