1 How miss leading!!!
In louisiana if one does not pay the rent, the legal authorities will place an eviction notice within a short period of time on their front door that tells them to vacate in 3 days. This sounds great until you go back to the authorities on the fourth day and find out that legally they cannot physically put the people out by law for 6 months.

I had a duplex and had no rent for 6 months out of one unit. The payment for me way back then was only $125 per month. Can you imagine having three or four units today in this situation in Louisiana (unless the law has changed since 1970), but don't count on it. They still go by laws written by Napoleon hundreds of years ago. Ha! Ha!.

This book will guide you to their $2400 siminars and an 18 month course. I bet if most of you fall for this, you will hate Peter and David in about 2 years or less.

Yes, a few people going for this will make plenty of money. However these same ones would make a fortune selling junk used cars. Can you?

I don't even want to think of having to make the payments on three houses in Louisiana for 6 months of $1000 each until I can rent them out to other tenants who may tear the place up and not pay rent for 6 months.

I believe you can do much of this with no downpayment etc., but you'd better have money for unforseen occurences. They will happen. I got this book for free at the library.
2 Great book, Great Info, An Easy Read
This is a great book with great information! The author gives you enough information to make the program work without having to make any additional purchases. The book was very easy and quick to read. I would definitely recommend this book to experienced investors as well as to those who are new to the world of real estate investing.
3 Full of Useful Information.
This book was well done. It is written so that a begginning investor like me could follow along. It has step by step instructions when dealing with sellers. It contains actual scripts, and sample letters you can use in your investing. I'm amazed at how freely they have given up so much information in this book.
4 This is a great book!
I've spent lots of money on complete courses dealing with foreclosure properties. I was amazed when I read this book. It had just about everything I needed to know here in one inexpensive resource!

I found this book to be very practical in helping to work my way through the whole foreclosure process. I especially liked the section on 24 pitfalls and how to avoid them. This was very helpful.

I really do recommend this book to anyone wondering how to handle foreclosure properties.
5 A good resource
The content covered the full spectrum of investing in foreclosures. It touched on how to find foreclosures, ways to finance your deal, when and how to negotiating with sellers, and profitable exit strategies that offer the best return with least risk.

The language was easy to read and the definitions, examples, scripts, and real life stories helped make the topic of investing in foreclosures interesting and comprehendible. I especially appreciated the details in negotiating a deal with the seller.

A good resource for anyone investing in real estate.
6 New to investing
I had heard many of my friends discuss real estate investing and was curious about how I might be able to use it to create wealth for myself. This book is so well written anyone can understand how to apply the principles, even if you are just learning.

I also shared this book with friends who have been in real estate and they have added some new ideas to their investing.
7 It's a win/win/win!
I've seen several foreclosures in my neighborhood and am excited to take the techniques taught by Peter and David and put them into action. If I can help someone get out of a bad situation that is most likely causing them embarrassment, turn that investment into a home for another family, and make some money...I see that as win/win/win!
8 Interested in Real Estate Investing? Read this book!!!
I recently had the good fortune of reading this book regarding investment strategies. It is well-written and contained sound, practical advice. In fact, I have already benefited from this book and am on my way to start my investing. This author pointed out several things that I will remember for years to come.

I look forward to reading Peter Conti's and David Finkel's next book!

9 Calling all Potential Investors
The thing to remember is that foreclosure law and proceedings are different from state to state. Peter and Davids book does a good job of outlining the process in general and encouraging the reader to investigate further in their locale. While all the techniques in the book are sound, they may not fit all investor types or locations. This book is a great place to start if you're considering investing in foreclosures and need a crash course on commonly used strategies.
10 Great book on a crucial topic for all real estate investors!
There are some really great tips in here on negotiating (something that's not intuitive for me) specifically pertaining to foreclosures. But not only that, they have some concrete strategies in there about how to actually find the deals and structure them to be profitable. Above all, they structure things in such a way that everyone wins. Getting this book should be a no brainer for anyone that wants to invest in foreclosed properties!
11 Helping Others in Financial Trouble
This book really opened my eyes to how investing in foreclosures can be a win - win for both the investor and the seller. It also gave really easy, doable ideas on how to start investing in this niche, a niche that in Chicago and the rest of the midwest is experiencing high growth.

If you are serious about getting started in real estate investing, read this book. It gives you the basics and some advanced, yet simple, investing techniques that get you started on the right path.
12 Foreclosures for dummies
I'm a beginning investor. I've been researching foreclosures for a little while now and realize that this is a market that I should be tapping into. After reading Peter and David's books, I really feel that I have a good understanding of the foreclosure process and some different ideas on how to approach sellers. Thanks Peter and David for chaper 5 where you talk about negotiating and the information on page 106 (scripts for getting free lists of foreclosures...even before anyone else knows about them) that is amazing information. You've been a big help to my investing.

Thanks.
13 You Can Make This Work For YOU!!
I know for a fact when people follow the steps and really put forth the effort that the lessons learned and placed into motion described in this book will work!! Of course not everyone is destined to be a great real estate investor but those who have the talent or the desire to change their lives, never give up, and persevere can take the knowledge given and experience the challenge and rewards of making a difference in their lives and the lives of those around them.

14 I'd give zero stars if I could
The tactics are sleazy, including tips on how to coach the seller on how to lie to the lender about selling the house without paying off the mortgage. This is a violation on the due on sale clause in the mortgage. The book says it's "not a big problem". To those that think fraud is a big problem, this isn't your book.
15 YUCK
I love real estate. I own 5M worth of real estate. This book has good information about a good niche (foreclosures) in a good business. I hated it.

If these two had to keep using the sleazy tactics and phrasing they describe in this book, even when they knew the business cold and didn't have to anymore, and then they're so proud of themselves they write a book, tells me somebody lost their soul on the way to the bank.

Foreclosures is a good business, people in foreclosure are often in trouble of their own making and don't know how to get out but are annoying in their inability to do SOMETHING. I can even see how using the power of language to get people moving forward out a no action = no solution situation makes some sense.

but, i wouldn't take a penny from a deal that used their tactics and language.

16 This is where it all begins
This is a great book. I had read a lot of other information about getting started in real estate, been to seminars, chatted on endless discussion boards, but nothing put me on the right track and got me MOVING until I read this book.

Peter Conti and David Finkel don't just give you theories or general "deal structuring" techniques... They actually take you by the hand and lead you step-by-step through the whole process. Finding leads, negotiating great deals, filling properties... It's all there!

I got started with my investing at 22 years old... Just out of college. In the two years since then, I've acquired and filled 7 properties, and am about to pick up 3 more on Wednesday.

If you know someone who is eager to get started investing, but doesn't know much about rehab, or have thousands of dollars to put into down-payment money, this book is a great investment!

17 Ego trip for authors
Dont bother with this book. It has some useful information for the newbie but it is an ego trip for the authors. The stories they present have little useful information other than to tell you how great the authors are. The free stuff they give you is just as worthless.
18 other readers are morons...
I've read a few of these books now, and this is by far the most informative of them all. It tells you how to find sellers, buyers, what to say, links to forms to use, etc.

I tried one of LeGrand's books, now THAT'S an advertisement for seminars...
19 "Opportunistic sales person needed, no ethics required!"
I bought this book thinking that it would provide details of how to go about starting the real estate investing progress. As other reviewer's have noted, this book does have a strong "cheerleading" tone to it without providing much specific information. I am interested in buying a house or two to fix up and sell, not quit my job and start this full time. I found the tactics they mentioned to be downright predatory; for example, getting mail carriers and landscapers to "scope out" neighborhoods to see which homes are receiving lots of certified mail, a sure sign that they might be in financial trouble. There are slick sales scripts that would befit any sleazy used car dealer. They are little verbal sales tricks to get people to trust you; making them feel like it's them against the big bad bankers and that only you can help. It is all under the guise that you are helping people with their financial troubles, when really it's more like a vulture looking for an opportunity. There is no way I am going door to door inquiring about a lost dog just so I can try to start a conversation with someone aabout their personal financial situation in an attempt to buy their house out from under them. This is a book for a good, fast sales person with big ambitions, not just your average homeowner or small time investor.
20 Advert for their seminars/courses
This book is heavy on excitment and 'systems' but very light on details. Not something to buy if you want to actually go out and DO something now. This book is mostly intended to get you involved in their very expensive mentoring, coaching, or course programs.
21 Absolute Newbie
This category of books (Investing in Real Estate) has the formula down cold. General topics are covered as well as the gist of possible scenarios, but NO details are given regarding the process. As the saying, goes the "devil's in the details" - in this case so is the money and you won't make ANY if this is the only book you read. If you don't have ANY book on foreclosures this would be an OK place to start, but my suggestion is to keep looking or find a good foreclosure attorney (no I'm NOT an attorney) willing to tutor you in the ins and outs of the process and explain the pros and cons for the homeowner and mortgage company and where an investor/buyer may fit in.
22 Decent information and approaches
This book provides a relatively poor overview of the foreclosure process (understandable since it changes somewhat by locality) and spends way too much time on salesy sounding scripts to use when talking to people. However, there are enough useful tidbits to make the book worth reading.
23 So easy & so simple, it's a must to start today!
This book is written for everyone, easy to read and understand with all the information needed for anyone to get started. Peter Conti and David Finkel teach not only how to build wealth buying foreclosures but more importantly how to do it with integrity. Solving problems for those that have financial issues, while making sure not to ever "take advantage" of them is a point made clear throughout all of Peter and David's books. Making Big Money Buying Foreclosures..... is more than a book about Real Estate investing, as you read each page you get a real feel for the authors, the genuine spirit of fair play and sincerity both Peter & David posess reach out from each page letting you know this is not just about building wealth; but helping people.
I had the opportunity to spend this last weekend in Devner, CO with the Mentor Financial Group (owned by Peter Conti & David Finkel) and I am sold on the fact these two gentleman walk their talk. Buying foreclosures is a time spent working with sellers in an emotional state; this book teaches you as an investor how to work with these sellers in a way that is not demeaning but even uplifting. If you are an investor, big or small or maybe someone simply considering the purchase of a few properties to hang onto for future income or a more quality retirement, buy this book. Making Big Money Investing In Foreclosures......was not written and published to be put on your shelf, I have read dozens of books regarding Real Estate investment and for me, it's always been about the people I am working with and the wealth & freedom building, in that order. Even if you know nothing about Real Estate investing or are a licensed Real Estate Agent - (...) - READ IT - FOLLOW WHAT IT SAYS, EXACTLY HOW IT SAYS TO DO IT.......IT'S THAT SIMPLE! It has something for everyone and you will be glad you did.
24 Peter and David - A Class of Their Own
These two investors have done an excellent job at explaining the nuts and bolts of real estate investing. Many authors fill pages and pages telling us the RESULTS of their successfull negotiations (e.g. infomercial testimonials). But P&D go into the details of how they communicate and negotiate their deals. They've put a lot of thought into their process as they explore the psychology of negotiating with sellers.

But why didn't I give this book 5 stars? Because in my view, their 2nd book is EVEN BETTER. While their 1st book was ok, they hit their stride on the 2nd book (Making Big Money Investing in Real Estate Withoug Tenants, Banks, or Rehab Projects) which in my mind is the BEST of the three they've written so far. I give them an A+ for content and quality. And this (new)book is right on the money too. So, I recommend reading BOTH books; they complement each other nicely. They have a win-win approach to investing. They also advocate putting 10% of your profits to good use in helping others. Like I said, a class act!

25 Great Book
I started buying real estate with a partner 1 year ago and we have bought and sold 12 pre-foreclosures since we started. I found out about Peter and David's books about 6 months ago and found that the information they give in these books is excellent. This book really explains the foreclosure process well and gives you great ideas on how to start locating these deals. I highly recommend this book along with all there other books to any one and every one who is interested in buying real estate. Thanks Peter and David for the excellent information you give us investors.
26 Conti and Finkel, Compassionate Investors
I find that the works of Conti and Finkel take into account the position of the troubled seller and how to find the solution to there problems. There compassion is what sets them apart from all the gurus out there.

This book uses some examples and material from there previous books, however majority of the book is new information that keeps you hungry. I started reading this on the September 22nd and completed it this evening. Very difficult to put this book down.

What is also very impressive is they provide a webpack where you can find out about all the forclosure laws in your state, hours of audio, and access to their RE Investment group and forums where you can go for free advice.

Since registering with them, I have started to receive there newsletter which has had some great tips so far, I can not wait to get more of them.

27 Exceptional book
I just finished reading this book and already have a house under contract. Without this book and the AWESOME information in it, I probably would not have been able to do this deal. I will put only $25,000 in my pocket after expenses. Not bad for just 3 hours worth of work.
THANK YOU so much Peter & David.
The information from this book also gave me the ability to sign up for their mentorship training. With this book and the training, I expect to give up my full time J*O*B within 6-8 months and concentrate on real estate investing full time.
28 Good primer
This is a good overview of the process. One must have a base knowledge of contracts, and particular savvy at research. Several good negotiating gambits - seems these guys have done this before (!).

Well worth the money spent.

29 THE BEST.....
