Intellimouse Optical 1.1 Mouse
1 I own five of these...
I didn't think I would like it. At work, this was the only mouse available and at first I tried to trade it. Fortunately, there were no takers and I can't stand using a computer without this mouse.
I like to use the side buttons for browsing.
2 Great little mouse
I'm not a big Microsoft fan in general, but I can't stop saying good things about their mice and keyboards. This is no exception. It's not shiny or colorful, but none of that matters to me. It's solid and fits my hand like a glove. The scroll wheel is neither too tight nor too loose, making for near-effortless long document scrolling. All five buttons (the wheel itself counts as a button) have a definite audible and tactile click. The optical sensor lives up to the hype. Low- to no-maintenance (sometimes dirt accumulates on the surface, but this in no way affects performance), and you'll appreciate the tactical edge when playing "twitch" games like first-person shooters or touching up pictures in Photoshop.
Installation is a no-brainer. Just plug it in and go. If you want to program the side buttons, the IntelliMouse software install is relatively painless, and configuration is a snap. If only Windows as a whole was like that!
3 Great mouse
I'm not sure how everyone else uses a mouse, but unlike Other mice, it is crafted perfectly so your fingers lay just under the buttons. I'm not sure what others are talking about with it clicking accidentally, and buying a mouse for the sole purpose of not having a mouse pad is very odd.
The side buttons are a whiz for back and forward in a web browser, and are compatible with all I've used, even Mozilla Firefox. This mouse has not failed me, it has not worn to any degree I can tell, I've had it for nine months now, it's been nothing but great.
I think people don't hold mice right, Microsoft assumed all people held mice 'correctly' and designed this mouse with that thought in mind, but obvously many don't, so keep that in mind. I personally loved the shape, this is a great mouse for people with larger hands, or, those that like to rest their hand on their mouse. Many mice insist you fully extend your fingers, the Intellimouse allows you to rest your palm atop the mouse, which is in my opinon far more comfortable.
I've never had any issues, I recommend this to those who want something nice, but don't want to dish out fifty for a pricier Logitech.
4 Microsoft Optical Mice RULE!!!
I have tried other brands, and keep going back to mice from Microsoft. Microsoft makes the best mice. Very well designed and the Optical mice track perfectly... This mouse is cool, it has the two side buttons that can be set to do different things. It is a very cool mouse... The light on the back glows red and looks cool!
5 Great for everything but Windows Server 2003
I really enjoy this mouse. It works great on all Windows OSes except Server 2003. If you have functions assigned to the side buttons and the scroll button, it gets them confused. Scrolling up really fast causes a click on the right-side button and scrolling down really fast causes a click on the left-side button. It also disables the physical use of those two side buttons. If you want it to work right, you can't assign anything to the side buttons.
Hopefully MS will release updated drivers in the near future.
6 Best Mouse ever!!!!!
This is the best mouse ever, although i'm not sure that they make a Microsoft Intellimouse Optical that is Wireless, then that would be the best mouse ever... Anyways this mouse is extremely presice, which makes me good at the fps games i play like cs and doom3! Also what makes this mouse superiour is that it has 5 buttons!, most mice have 5 buttons now but this one has 2 on each side and 1 in the middle as opposed to 4 on the left side and so on.... This mouse is better then Vipor Razor whatever mice or andy other type of mouse. And the good thing is it's way cheaper! Also I've had this mouse for 3 years already and i use it daily! Feels like it did 3 years ago! You will not be dissapointed, especially if your looking for a good optical gaming mouse!
7 Side buttons annoying
I hated this mouse. The side buttons got in my way (pressed them accidentally) and were awkward to press when I actually wanted to use them. Buy the Logitech Cordless Click mouse instead (especially if you own a Mac).
8 on the verge of abandoning extra buttons
This mouse isn't that much better or worse than other optical mice I've tried (Logitech, other Microsoft). The one difference is the extra 2 buttons. Other reviewers have indicated that they take some getting used to. Here's why: no matter how small your hands are, you WILL start off hitting the extra buttons (at least, my whole family did... and I don't think it's genetic). What I can't figure out is how to train yourself to consistently not hit them, esp. the right-side button. I mean, we're not teenage mutant ninja turtles with 4 fingers so it seems the 4th finger in its natural position will always be grazing the right-side button.
Okay, it doesn't help that I mapped that right-button to the "close window" function so windows will suddenly close on me every other day or so. Quite annoying.
If you want back and forward on Internet pages, I find the "mouse gestures" features of some browsers just as useful, and it works with any mouse. Other browsers have keyboard shortcuts like "z" and "x" for back and forward.
Bottom line: Get the basic MS optical mouse without the buttons for cheaper, unless you can really handle the extra buttons. Of course, if you're cost-conscious, don't even try to find out your button dexterity level. After all, if you really like it, you'll have to replace every mouse you use! And STILL get annoyed when using a new terminal. A mouse is a mouse, and shouldn't be a target of annoyance (at least, the non-cheese eating kind).
9 Great mouse!
I wound up with this mouse because my previous one was eaten by the cat so it died. Once connected, I just fell in love with this one. It is so much easier to use than a ball mouse and you don't have to clean it, which makes my life tons simpler. My only problem is that the right and left click bars are a little too sensitive so I wind up clicking when I didn't want to. But, other than that, it's just been great and the cat isn't too interested in this one! It has a lot more substantiality than my previous one, is heavier, etc., so it definitely is great quality.
10 Wouldn't trade it for the world
I bought my mouse two years ago when I received a new laptop. My previous mouse was a ball roller that kept getting dirty on me, so I decided to try an optical mouse because I heard they worked a lot smoother. I got mine at a discount price at our local Target store. I brought it home and hooked it up immediately, and put my old mouse away. I loved it! It is very easy to use and the internet back/forward buttons are a blessing because I don't have to move the mouse all over the screen when going back to another page. It moves easily over any surface, but I did find after a while that it began rubbing the surface off my computer desk and thus I had to buy a mouse pad. I hadn't many problems with it until lately. I have noticed that it doesn't want to move as smoothly as it did when I first got it. If I am playing a game, it can make it hard to keep up. I haven't been as careful and gentle with it as I should have though and that may be why. Anyway, I am thinking of getting a new mouse and will definitely buy another one of these optical mouses, but will be more careful this time.
11 Excellent feel all around, almost perfect
I've tried all kinds of mice--corded and wireless; optical and ball; Logitech and Microsoft; high-end, low-end, and in-the-middle.
First, optical mice are the way to go. There's enough said about that, and the "ball" mouse will eventually go the way of the floppy drive. I've tried a few wireless mice by Microsoft, but they fall way short of their promises. You have to plug in a transmitter to the USB port to send the signal to the mouse, and this transmitter is the size of the mouse itself--you end up with twice the volume! Worse, I find I have to keep the mouse within two feet of the transmitter, meaning I have to keep two "mouse-sized" things on my desk. Also, with wireless mice, responsiveness decreases as the batteries die--I have to hold down the right-click button relatively long to click, which is a pain.
I also like the scroll wheel on this mouse--it provides a nice tactile "click" for every increment; some of the Microsoft wireless mice don't have a click, which makes it difficult to scroll down just one "click."
There is also at least one "known issue" with this mouse--sometimes the mouse will freeze for no reason. After a few weeks of rebooting my computer to get the mouse working again, I finally found the solution--stop using the mouse with the USB connection, and use the little green adapter that came with it instead.
I also just bought a relatively inexpensive Logitech optical mouse, and while it works fine, it doesn't have the solid feel of this mouse.
So, although this one is corded, it works great, has a nice feel, and is my current favorite among all the mice I keep around me (after the fix I mentioned above).
12 It glows in the dark
The mouse moves on any surface without a mouse pad. It is curved to fit the hand. I use it on USB port. I love the way it glows red especially in the dark.
13 Easy to get used to!
After using an optical mouse, you never want to go back and use a standard ball mouse again. I have never had a ball mouse which didn't get goop and dirt on the rollers inside, causing it to skip and be a pain in the ... wrist to use. Even after cleaning the rollers, a ball mouse seems to never work correctly again.
I had owned a basic MS optical mouse for about a year when I got this mouse for free from a person who worked at Microsoft. He sold me a refurbished Harman Kardon Signature 2.0 preamp (great preamp), and threw the MS Intellimouse in as a freebie. (Thanks, Dude!) Being perfectly happy with the Microsoft basic optical mouse, it took me a few months to unpack the Intellimouse and try it. I'm really glad I did.
The reason I'm so happy with the Intellimouse is that it has two extra buttons on the sides which are used as the forward and back buttons on MS Internet Explorer. Much of my work is doing legal research on the Net. Those two little buttons are really nice to have for quick navigation. Once I got used to them, I started to hate to use a regular two button/wheel mouse.
While the ergonomics are not quite as good as my original (and now ancient) two button Microsoft mouse which was asymetrically shaped so as to fit the palm of your hand, it has good weight (not too light and not too heavy), is easy to pick up so you can reposition it without moving the cursor, never skips, and the buttons have never gotten sticky. If you are looking for a good basic, functional mouse, this one doesn't disappoint.
14 Best of the Best
I bought this mouse to replace a cheap mouse I bought earlier. The cheap mouse was giving me hand cramps. I did a lot of reading on Amazon reviews for a wireless mouse but couldn't find one that had overall customer satisfaction. I bought this mouse because of the all the positive reviews. After one week of use my hand cramps went away. When I use my laptop that has a mouse pad, I feel handicapped because I don't have the extra mouse keys that I use to page backwards and forwardards on the IE browser as well as a scroll key. I am very satisfied with this mouse. It has truly spoiled me.
15 Simply Wonderful
How much can you like a mouse? 5 stars worth of mouse love here. Feels good. Extra buttons for going backwards and forwards are splendid! Oh, the extra time in my life now!
No, seriously, a great mouse - buy it with confidence.
16 My hand loves this mouse
I'm very happy with this mouse. A couple of years ago, I swiped it from my husband to try at work, because the mouse I had was making my pinky and ring finger go numb and the base joint of my index finger really sore when I had to do a lot of clicking. He never got it back. =D Its shape is right for my hand and what I do, so my hand and wrist don't get numb or sore any more. The wheel has a nice feel (just a little rubbery and a little textured, and not too stiff in its turn) and smooth action that reliably locks into the detents (unlike my old Logitech mice). The optical sensors have been very reliable and smooth too. I especially like the five-button action. Some of the apps we use at work require the middle (wheel) button to retain its default use setting, so I was frustrated in my desire to use it as a double-click button on the old mouse. This mouse allows me to leave the middle button as default and set my thumb button to the double click, which is easier on my hand too. The pinky button gets accidentally hit more than used on my mouse, but that's just the way I work. If I had a personal better use for it, it'd be good too. In the end, I liked this mouse so much that I got a second to put on my home computer.
17 Best mouse I've used
I've used an optical intellimouse at home for a little over a year and I'm sold on it. The forward and back buttons on the sides are the most useful features. You can use them in any app that has forward/back navigation controls, for example Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer. It doesn't take long to get accustomed to using the side buttons and once you do you'll find them to be great surfing aids. I've not had a single problem with this mouse.
18 Great Mouse
I bought this mouse when it first came on the market, almost 2 years ago. I have NEVER, let me repeat that, NEVER had a problem with this mouse. It still tracks accurately and precisely, does not unintentionaly "double click" nor has the courd become unsoldered. Both side buttons worked when I had Win98, 98SE, ME and now work with XP Home. All in all, a great product. Should it die, I'll replace it with another.
19 Great mouse for gamers...
In the past 2 years, coming on 3, this is the only mouse my hand has resided on. Its form, flawless. Buttons, perfectly placed. For your adverage gaming enthusiast, like myself, this mouse is opticle bliss, with the ability to bind each and every button to a keystroke or command of your choice, per program, this mouse allows for great usability. When in a game like, lets say, Halo, one can have the two side buttons bound to unused keys, like PGUP and PGDOWN, having re-bound then in the game to any command they needed. Switching paces now, that same person might have also set the mouse up to use keystokes such as CTRL+H and CTRL+" bound to photoshop... switching from program to program with this great feature is seemless. Never once have I had it be confused as to which program I am in.
The major fault to this mouse is the cord, myu suggestion, pick up a warrenty, if possible. I have already owned 5 of these in my time using them (near 3 years). When the first one broke, I decided to get a warranty at Best Buy, when the mouse broke half a year later it wasnt much of a problem. Just be carefull with the cord, it seems to come unsaudered after alot of use (talking months and months of use, here).
20 Convenient
I've the Microsoft Intellimouse for about two months now. This optical scroll mouse, with an additional 2 buttons, is just brilliant.
THE SCROLL: The scroll is extremely nice, with smooth moment and a lovely feel in your hands. When clicked, it can also be used to scroll up and down with simple direction; and other controls let it be used to increase/decrease magnification. It's just great.
THE ADDITIONAL BUTTONS: The additional buttons are extremely conveniently placed and enable you to go to Back and Forward in any web browser. A fantastic addition.
Overall, I would recommend this mouse to anyone. Just hope it was wireless.
21 So Far So Good
Just got my new mouse, as my old wheel mouse was sooooo sticky. The new mouse set up in a few minutes; no problems. It works very well. I need a very precise, reliable mouse and this fits the bill. So far . . .
A word about registration: Someone remarked about there being a requirement to register the mouse with MS Passport in order to use it, but I found that registration was an option; I opted to register and I was not required to give any personal information (not even my name) other than my e-mail address. No credit card required; no address/phone number. Nothing to cause any security concerns.
22 Great Mouse
I absolutely love this mouse. I do a lot of web searching and ebaying and the "back" button makes life so much easier. Some people seem to mind the red light associated w/ this mouse, but it doesn't bother me at all. It moves easily on all types of surfaces and there's no mouse ball to have to clean on a regular basis. My recommendation is to buy and enjoy!
23 Old Reliable - Never had a problem!
Completely utilitarian. This mouse works reliably the way you would expect. It's not the prettiest thing in the world, but if you're looking for a mouse that does it's job and does it well then this is the one. I am lost without my Intellimouse.
Especially notable are the side mouse buttons which are comfortably placed to make navigation smooth & easy. They can be programmed to behave differently for different applications which is really nice.
24 Don 't buy it!
This mouse clicks twice when you press the button once (and no, I didn't set the software to do it.) Everything else is great but unless you want that- don't buy it!
25 A good, optical mouse with a wheel
A nice optical mouse that fits the right hand perfectly. It's arched for a more natural feel. The wheel is easy to move and fairly quiet. And, much llike the two-button mouse for a PC, the right button on this one activates the control menus. The mouse plugged directly into the USB port of my computer and didn't require any special software. The only drawback is that it is right-handed, and I haven't seen one made for the left hand.
26 My Favorite Mouse
I love the back/forward button so I can navigate easier/faster. The mouse has a nice and round back that fits nicely into your palms.
My first one stopped responding. Microsoft sent me a new one within a week (no hassle at all). The second one is still being used.. it has been with me for over 2 years now.
Excellent customer service, excellent product.
27 No More Dirty Balls!
Excuse me for the humorous, yet truthful title. For those who are uneducated in the field of computer mice, the track-ball under one of these older predecessors constantly clogs with dirt and dust collected while roaming across a pad or table. Upon clogging the ball, the cursor on a computer screen begins stuttering, making tasks as simple as closing a window a complete bother.
These dirty track-balls are no more thanks to optics. Microsoft's Intellimouse is a computer mouse come true. By removing the track-ball of modern mice completely, the previous problems with clogged-up mice are solved. The replacement is a strikingly cool red-eye that scans the surface of your mouse pad or table, moving the curser across a screen with ease.
There is however a slight problem with the Intellimouse. The two extra buttons, located on the left and right sides of the mouse, are too easily tapped. The purpose of these two buttons can vary, but are mainly for scrolling forward and backward (while viewing webpages) without having to travel the cursor to the forward and backward buttons in your web browser. The problem however is hitting these two buttons mistakenly, which seems to be easily done thanks to their positions.
Nonetheless, Microsoft's Intellimouse Optical is a great improvement to modern mice. The elimination of the all-to-familiar frustration of `dirty balls', is a much-needed sigh of relief from most.
28 Durable and inexpensive
I first purchased this mouse at college in August 2002 and found it to be very useful and durable. The forward/back internet buttons are handy if you browse the web or even folders in your own computer, and the scroll button is easily programmable. I have been using it constantly for about a year now and it's finally starting to give me some problems. I'm not sure about the warranty on it, but I think that all the wear and tear from taking it everywhere with my laptop has done something to the connection at the end of the cable. My computer sometimes claims it cannot recognize it or doesn't acknowledge it at all unless I bend the cord up a little. I know this is a common problem with electronics in general but I haven't seen it in any reviews for this item. All in all, isolated case aside, this is a great product for someone looking for a quality optical mouse with good features at a great price.
29 Excellent Mouse
What can be said that hasn't already? The IM Optical is simply an excellent product. Good response and no mouse ball to clean. I prefer the corded version over wireless as those consume batteries but either is a good purchase.
30 This thing is out of control!
I think I went nuts when I tried for a few days (maybe hours) to replace my broken mouse with one of these.
Every time the table or desk would move the slightest bit, it would either click on something, open a new application, or start to drag a selection on the screen. NOT my cup of tea!
Unless your desk is carved from a stone alcove and will never move (say, if a book is dropped on it, or someone bumps into the desk - heck, for me even *typing* was enough vibration for it to go click on things) ---- I would not buy this!!!!
31 This mouse lasted a while!
I gotta tell ya, I was hesitant when this mouse first came out. It was about the time when Optical Mice became retail. I was shocked I was paying how much I payed for a mouse back then. Even for four years ago, let me tell you it was atleast triple this price. All in all, however, I found my purchase to be successful.
I have had this mouse for four years, and only now I am seeing small issues occur. Ever since I bought it, this mouse has had skip-free performance and is very usefull in games. My only problem now, however, is that my mouse is starting to die on me. Every once and a while the mouse freezes up on me when I then unplug it from the back of my PC and plug it back in. This is annoying because I have to reach pretty far back there and I can't see back there. That is why I am now buying a new Logitech Chordless Optical mouse.
Overall, this is a great mouse. For the price you pay, you get smoothe performance and basically a 4 - 6 year gaurantee. Go ahead, and don't be hesitant. This is the best low-priced optical mouse out there.
32 Got so used to it, needed another
I got this mouse as a gift and loved it as soon as I started using it. It definitely provides skip-free performance, has a great feel to it, has
the scroll wheel, and my new favorite thing - those programmable buttons!
At first I wasn't used to those programmable buttons and I'd accidentally press them getting unwanted results (like going back to the
previous web-page when pressing the left button, or going forward when pressing the right). But then I got so used to it and realized how helpful it was - so much so that I got another one for my work because I kept trying to press those buttons that didn't exist on my mouse at work!
There's definitely no going back to a mechanical mouse in this day and age after so many optical mouses (or is it mice!) are available.
But if you haven't used a mouse with programmable buttons before, I'm telling you - give it a try and you won't ever want to go back to
one that doesn't have them! And for the price, this one's a great bargain.

34 Favourite Mouse
The accuracy is a significant improvement over the rollerball, so you can increase pointer speed. The only negative i can think of is there is too much drag on the underside compared to other mice.
35 This Mouse is Great!!
I bought this mouse because I couldn't stand having to deal with the mice with the ball in them. They were jumpy, needed a mouse pad, and were quick in needing to be cleaned out. After using this mouse for the first few minutes I couldn't believe how easy this onw worked across the computer screen. I didn't need a mousepad, and I liked the scroll wheel especially when right college reports and side buttons which I use for the back and forward buttons on the Internet. It's made using the computer a much better experience and the best part is that it doesn't stick when you are trying to move it slow. If you are looking for a great mouse, throw away the mouse you have and you will not be dissappointed.
36 Favorite Mouse
This is my favorite mouse and I've used many many mice. I don't like wireless too much cuz of I never shut my computer and it drains the batteries and I have the Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer on my other computer and it not the same as this one. The foward button on the IntelliMouse Explorer is in front of the back button which is an inconvenience. I use to use Logitech mice and loved it for its construction and weight but I like the Intellimouse Optical better. Improvements can be made to the weight and better plastic material. I had mine for over two years now and I am currently purchasing another one from Amazon.[com]
37 Three years and still going strong!
I live in a very dusty city, and mouse cleaning was a weekly (if not daily) portion of my computer-related life. On a whim, I bought this mouse when they first came out (in Colombia) over 3 years ago. Haven't looked back since, I even gave one to my girlfriend because she kept threatening me to steal mine. On the down side, this mouse is for righties only, lefties have to settle for the normal Micorosoft Intellimouse without all the extra buttons (all 2 of them).
Tracking in the device is wonderful, it seems to work nicely in all types of games, and when I go to gaming parlours I miss the programmability of the extra two buttons (reload, use, anyone?)
I'd heartily reccomend it.
38 Fantastic mouse
This is a great mouse. I'm upgrading to it from microsoft wheel mouse optical. (I tried a microsoft wireless optical blue mouse in between - it sucks, see my review there).
Pros:
- Precise accurate movement (just like my wheel mouse optical)
- can use it on finished wood (unlike microsoft wireless mice)
- 5 buttons (all programmable)
Cons:
- need there be any?
39 I'm surprised I actually like a piece of Microsoft hardware!
I'm not an avid mouse tester, but this by far exceeds any mouse I've owned to date. The Optical technology has allowed me to do away with my mouse pads and doesn't require disassembly for cleaning. Microsoft's IntelliPoint software is very flexible and configures to every need I have. It's also very quick and easy to change my configuration for computer gaming. I was so impressed with this mouse that I bought a second for my office computer. I highly recommend this item for home or office use.
40 Great for about 6 months..
I purchased this mouse about 6 months ago when they were on sale at the local electronics store. Everything went fine, installed without a hitch and even came with a USBtoPS2 adapater which works fine. I really like the extra button on each side of the mouse. This is very handy for navigating forwards and backwards through web pages, or you can set it to copy and paste or any other key combination through the software provided by Microsoft.
However, earlier tonight those 2 buttons I count on for so much stopped working. I rebooted, reinstalled the mouse drivers, did the usual routine. Still no dice.
Why not 1 star? I called up Microsoft and they're going to send me a replacement if I fax over a copy of the bottom of the mouse. So at least they're taking care of a customer. So I love this mouse, but it has failed me in my hour of need ;) Hopefully I just got a mouse from a bad batch, since I wasn't able to find many people online with this same problem.
41 A mouse that works!
If i was stuck on an island and i could only use one mouse, this would be it. The optical technology works much better than the old rollerball type mice. Also the buttons on the right and left side are really useful when surfing the internet, they let you go back and forward. Plus, left handed people can use it, or people who are right handed, but who use their left hand when using mice.
42 Another Mouse
This mouse is easy to install and it basicaly works without installing the new driver. It is nice that it come with both PS2 and USB connector. I used the PS2 connection to save my USB connection for future use. This mouse is good size for my kid but a little small for me and my hands are normal size. The additional two mouse buttons are nice but I always hit them by mistake. I may disable them if I still hit them by mistake. The mouse movement is perfect and I do not need a mouse pad any more ! Only one complaint, the rolling button is too tight and not smooth. Over time, my fingers will be much stronger :-) Over all, I gives it a 4 stars.
43 GREAT PRODUCT
The Intellimouse Optical is one of the best mice i have used. although i am usually not a fan of Microsoft products, so far this one has exceeded my expectations. The mouse never skips no matter what surface i use or how fast i move it. The Forward/back buttons are helpful and fully customizable.
44 software problem -- 4th and 5th buttons may not work
When I installed the mouse, the 4th and 5th buttons (for forward/back web browsing) did not work. The problem was that the software that came with the mouse (IntelliPoint 4.1) would not let me configure the 4th and 5th buttons (the default configuration for these buttons was web scrolling). The readme.txt file that came with the mouse said that the 4th and 5th buttons may not work with Windows XP and NT and may behave unpredictably. I am using Windows ME, so maybe this OS should be added to that list. The box said that the mouse works with these operating systems, so it's unacceptable that the auxiliary buttons did not work! I couldn't find any patches on the Microsoft website. I got the extra buttons to work when I instead used the mouse driver software that came with a generic 5-button mouse that I had. Anyway, it's pretty bad that the cheesy software that came with a generic mouse works better with Windows ME than Microsoft's own mouse software.
45 Great Product, High Quality, High Price.
Though the price of these devices are hefty, they do work well, and put an indefinite end to the "ball" problem of primitive mice!
As a graphics artist i found that using a mouse (with the traditional ball) was annoying, and hampered my work (in a measure of time) by more than a degree that it was worth for me to live with it.
I found the Intelli mouse and have since never looked back.
The side buttons are perfectly ergonomic, and serve a multitude of purposes. I use mine for back and forward buttons. The middle scroller is a must, and as expected the optical technology is unsurpassed.
4 stars: not 5 because it has a cord... (ok gettin' picky now)
46 Best mouse for navigating
The left and right (Web browser Back and Forward) buttons make this a dream to use for surfing. Had to have another for my second machine. I even take it travelling. The wheel is a touch better quality than most too.
47 excellent value
The best mouse ever! Excellent resolution and response for gaming. If you play with the lights off, the red light from the illuminator may be annoying, but it just takes some time to get used to it. The extra two buttons are great for surfing the net(go back and forward). Great piece of hardware at an unbeatable price.
48 Perfect
This is perfect for what I need it to do. The mouse hasn't given me any problems at all. Perfect, no more dust balls stopping the ball like my previous mice. I had a wireless optical before this one but had to replace the batteries too often so it wasn't worth it at all. I Love this one, go buy one!
49 There is no reason to keep your first mouse. UPGRADE!
I just received this mouse for Xmas, and let me tell you, not only did I get what I expected from an optical mouse, but some added bonuses that I never thought of. First, the wheel(the thing between the right and left mouse buttons)functions are great--it allows you to scroll easilly instead of having to hold down the left mouse button and drag the screen down. you can even depress the wheel and the screen will either scroll up or down with varying speed without dragging the mouse. Those functions are nothing compared to the added buttons on either side of the mouse that are assigned to the 'back' and 'forward' funtions while on the internet or other aplications that can use them. All in all, much less movement involved and much less wrist fatigue. Excellent product.
50 EXCELLENT Mouse for Mac
This is a fabulous mouse! Great control & size, and the buttons & scroll wheel have spoiled me completely for other mice. The only reason I don't give it a 5th star: I've had to replace it every year. Just wears out.
51 Awesome Mouse after Microsoft fixed the patch
I have been using the Microsoft Intellimouse Optical for close to an year now. This cute little mouse serves the purpose and does more. With 5 programmable buttons, navigating the Internet is a pleasure when you customize.
Pluses are that the mouse is comfortable, painless and has perfect precision. Also customizable for dextral as well as sinistral users.
My computer used to freeze because of a conflict in Windows XP, but now the bug is fixed by Microsoft in the Windows XP service pack. So if you experience problems, you might want to check for SP1.
But if you would want to get rid of the messy cords, you might want to check out for the optical wireless alternative for almost the same price. (Be prepared to have lots of spare batteries in that case.)
52 Great Mouse, but not the most reliable
I've been using this mouse for a couple years now and I'm definitely hooked on it! I've gotten very used to having the forward and back buttons on the sides for surfing the internet and I love not having to clean the mouse or have problems with it not moving properly. I also like the design of this mouse and how it feels in my hand.
Unfortunately, over the time that I have been using this mouse, I have had to exchange the old one a new one 2 different times. The reason in both cases was because the left mouse button would start to get out of sync a little bit. This made it so that if you tapped the button once, half the time it would register a double click. This may not seem like a big deal, but it definitely caused more than a few frustrations.
While, this mouse has the best design that I have found, the reliability of it has been enough of a problem that, if someone else were to design a mouse with a similar layout, I would probably ditch the Microsoft one. But for now, I'll just have to live with returning my mouse every 6 months or so.
53 Best mouse ever
I have been using this mouse for more than 5 months. No complaint about it at all. Price is quite still high since the wireless optical mouse is in the market.
Recommend: Get this one.
54 Forget the mouse pad with this one!
I have this mouse on my laptop for work. I travel and have actually used this mouse on the bedspread in a hotel room. It doesn't lack any of the finesse that a ball mouse gives you, and you benefit from being able to use it on a bumpy, soft, or crumb-filled surface. (Try that with a regular mouse!) I recommend this one highly.
55 best mouse I have used
I got one of these for my work PC. Was so impressed I had to get one for home. Very smooth and comfortable.
56 Fine Product Suitable to Most Needs
I've used my Intellimouse Optical for over a year now and I'm quite happy with it. The size is perfect for my average-sized hands and the performance is decent. I play PC games of all genres and have never had any response problems. An adapter lets you use the mouse through either a PS2 port or a USB port. Game players who rely on quick responses should use a USB port since the PS2 port has a lackluster execution. As with other optical mice, the tracking isn't as efficient on shiny surfaces. I therefore still use my mouse pad. The mouse has two extra buttons on the right and left side. I'm fairly happy with the position of these buttons. I do find however that sometimes while in Internet Explorer, I accidently press the button near my thumb. This can cause me a moment of confusion since that button is mapped to the IE "Back" button. Overall, the Intellimouse Optical is an excellent product.
57 Best Gift I've Ever Received
I'm a student and between my english major and internet minor I spend countless hours at the computer. My best friend bought me an intellimouse optical and I love it! The extra buttons have saved amazing amounts of time while reasearching on the internet and the laser sensor makes it easy to use the mouse anywhere...without a mousepad. The design is sleek and the red light just fun. My only problem with the mouse is that I dislike using all others now. :)
58 Optical mouse is much better than mechanical mouse
A mechanical mouse (with the rollerball) works about a year at our house before it starts sticking and jerking. I've replaced them all with the Microsoft optical mouse, and have never had a problem with them.
59 Simply a GREAT product!
My Microsoft Wheel 'ball' mouse was giving a bit of trouble so I decided it was time to change. After reading up on this product it seemed quite good, but I didn't take much interest(who is really interested in mice). I was in for a great surprise. From the moment I moved the mouse, I was quite amazed, the accuracy and speed over my previous mouse was a great improvement. I now browse my computer 2-3times faster. It also feels very nice in your hand(whether left or right handed). The wheel and buttons are fine, and the extra programmable buttons can be quite useful(though I don't use them). It's also quite nice to finally get rid of that mouse bad and not have to worry about any more cleaning. The only VERY small gripe, is the 'always on' red light. Few people should have a problem with that, some may like it. Overall this is an EXCELLENT product, especially for the price.
60 Don't waste your money
Steer away from this one. I actually was foolish enough to purchase 2 of these. Both failed in less than 3 months. I have since purchased the same style mouse from logitech. It works perfectly and costs less.
61 Cool mouse!
I really like this mouse. The back/forward side buttons are really great for Internet browsing once you get used to them. Mouse has a good feel and the software install/performance has been flawless.
62 Great all-around mouse (Especially for Gaming!)
The main reason I ordered this mouse is because of its 2 extra programmable buttons. These buttons really come in handy. They are located on the left and right hand sides of the mouse. There is an easy to use program that is on the CD that comes with the mouse, and it lets you control what functions these extra keys (Or what any of the mouse keys) do.
I currently have chosen to have these keys double as back and forward buttons in my web browser. This makes surfing much easier, as I don't have to move the mouse up to the top of the screen each time I want to go back or forward in the browser.
In addition, these extra buttons are essential for gaming! Since you can program what the buttons do as often as you'd like, you can change the settings around depending on what game you are playing. I like to use one of the extra buttons to reload my gun in shooting games. That is just one of the possibilities of it however.
Overall, the functionality of this mouse is excellent. It has worked perfectly ever since I got it. It is definitley worth the extra few dollars.
63 Makes my hand tingle...
The extra buttons for paging back and forth are a nice touch, but the mouse itself is somewhat bulky and large, and after a few hours of use, my wrist starts to seize up (no one-handed typing jokes, please). I've had to scale down to a Logitech Optical Mouse instead.
64 Smooth and easy to use
This is the first optical mouse I've used and I really like it. It is smooth, the arrow glides exactly to where you want it. I like the roller in the center that you can scroll the screen without using the scroll bar on the monitor. There's no need for a mousepad and no mouse ball to remove and clean out. Very low maintenance! The only thing I'd do to make this a better mouse is make it cordless!
65 great value
Got a great deal in amazon.com. This optical mouse wasn't responding perfectly (jumpy) when I was using a glossy mouse pad that came with my computer. After changing the surface, the optical mouse works with great acuracy. Have no problems with the mouse since then.
66 Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical
I bought this mouse a few weeks ago. Within a few days, the mouse was acting up: clicking randomly, periodically ceasing to function, and scrolling without my input. I called and complained to Microsoft, whose tech support insisted I must have "misused" the mouse and caused it to break. They refused to replace the mouse or even allow me to ship it back for repairs. Now, the mouse is getting very bad. It will close browser windows and attempt to scroll about once every two to three minutes. I recently trashed the Optical in favor of a comperable Logitech infrared mouse, which I have had no problems with, and like very much.
67 good mouse...bad buttons
This mouse is a great mouse in all, but i had one big problem... the butons. Whenever you click on the mouse it feels as if the button will break down. It hasn't happened to me yet, but it might. It gives you this uncomforatable feeling that you dont want to push down on the button too hard or it will break. To all you computer freaks...if you like optical mouses this one is OK, but if you want a really good mouse then get a Logitech mouse, in my opinion those are the best. But then yet again...this is MY opinion.
68 Microsoft Intellimouse is cheap Crap.
I bought the microsoft intellimouse thinking it would not suffer from skiping, unfortunatley the one i got stops continually
i think it just bad quality, i cant believe
it doesent work when i payd ...US for it, I am going to return it and buy something which works.
69 Even for Leftys!
As a lefty, mouses for us are few and far between. The mouse is great for people with larger hands such as myself, and the accuracy and convenience of optical mice is far superior to the infernal wheel/trackball setup. My right handed brethren have no problem using it as well; the mouse is for both. I never have to clean it, and the cursor never ever jumps or skips. It also has a cool red glow when you turn your computer on.The reason it doesn't get five is becuase the mouse reqires that you install Microsoft's intellimouse software. The program runs in your system tray and eats up a few megs of RAM while it sits there and does nothing. You can disable it, but good luck trying to get the 4th and 5th buttons to work. I still would but this mouse again however, it does its job excellently. Shame on Microsoft for requiring installation of worthless software however.
70 The best I've found
Before buying this mouse, I used two Logitech optical mice -- one wireless, and one wired, 3-button -- and though they were both solidly constructed and comfortable, their tracking was poor. MS simply has better optics at the moment. This mouse is very comfortable AND built for left or right-handers.
I've gamed extensively and basically pushed the limits of its tracking and cannot complain about the "twitch" problem some have experienced with opticals where the mouse gets lost when moved too quickly. I am able to move the mouse too quickly to track, but only intentionally, and then only when I move it more than two inches in a flick of the wrist. My suggestion to those who have this problem with optical mice is to increase your mouse sensitivity, in-game or otherwise.
The two downsides to this mouse are the scroll wheel being poorly constructed and the side buttons being chincy. The scroll wheel is still working great for me after at least eight months of heavy use, but the wheel on my friend's mouse (same model) is very loose after a year and one half. It has lost its indexing 'notch' and tends to scroll when you don't intend to. As for the side buttons, they work fine in and out of games, browsers, photoshop, etc., however their response time is poor and they have a distinctive, cheap feeling. Let's just say that they are not the same quality as the main buttons (1 & 2).
The MS mouse driver POINT32.exe runs in the background and is necessary to use the sidebuttons. It also offers some sweet mouse options such as 'snap to', which snaps the cursor to the default button in new windows (this has probably saved me a solid week of time since I've owned the mouse; I recommend giving it a week to get used to), and 'vanish', which hides the pointer while typing to keep it from hiding text -- also handy. Of course, this background task takes up some system resources so if you're on Win9x/Me, kiss another 2 percent goodbye. Even so, as a resource-hungry power user, I find it worth the weight.
All in all, it offers the best tracking (thought likely the same as other MS mice) and is still my mouse of choice. I only recommend another MS mouse if you want a different shape or color (alienware.com).
71 Optical Mouse are the BEST
If you ever use an optical then you will have to throw away your old ball mouse. Buy it, your hand will thank you for it!
72 Just too wide for me, but optical is great
I upgraded to an optical mouse because I was tired of always having to clean the old trackball mice or just live with a stutter mouse that can't quite point at the thing you want to click. Optical is definitely the way to go.
My only gripe with the Microsoft Intellimouse Optical is that I just didn't like the shape. I use the mouse in a home office that doesn't have a lot of desk space and, apparently, I need to pick up the mouse to move it sometimes. The shape of the Intellimouse Optical with it's extra side buttons makes it hard for me to grip it on the sides to pick it up. I'm used to the old Microsoft mouse shape that's smaller in my hands and straight up and down on the sides making it a lot easier to grip if you need to pick it up.
I also thought the extra side buttons would be cool, particular in browsing (assigned to back and forward), but they just seemed to get in the way more than they were useful.
So, I'm off to find a different optical mouse that's more akin to the old, smaller Microsoft mouse shape, but optical is definitely the way to go. No complaints about the optical part - it is definitely the way to go.
73 Excellent mouse for gaming and surfing the Internet
I have this mouse because a good friend of mine recommended it to me. It is great for gaming (Counterstrike) as you can assign functions to the buttons on the side. Also just for internet surfing, the back and forward functions that come default are the best. The mouse itself is very precise and you don't need that sweaty old mouse pad anymore. You can even use the mouse on the palm of your hand! Best mouse out there.
74 Great, no problems whatsoever.
My original MS optical mouse 1.0 had nothing but problems, this works great and I love the "back" button on the left hand side.
75 Best Mouse for the Price
I have had this mouse for a year and have had no problems with it at all. You don't need a mouse pad but you need to use it on a smooth surface. It is extremely accurate and I like that it has 4 buttons it works great for the internet and playing games. It you are good at distroying a regular mouse with a ball this is the mouse for you. It will pay for itself over time. You never have to worry about the mouse sticking at all.
76 Second to None!
This mouse is one of the best investments I made for my computer system. It provides stable performance that does not skip or feel awkward, which are characteristics of a ball mouse getting dirty. I own the Intellimouse Optical, and my roomate has the Intellimouse Explorer. Although more expensive, that mouse isn't necessarily better. This mouse gives me a more secure feel as I work or play games with it. One more thing!!! Do not confuse this mouse with another version of it out there. This is Microsoft D58-00026 Intellimouse Optical version 1.1, which should have been specified, and it has a predecessor named the Microsoft D58-00002 Intellimouse Optical. Both are sold on this site, and if you look closely, this is have much more updated stuff such as 6000 image captures per second as opposed to the 1500 image captures previously, and the software included is much more updated than its previous version as well. I don't know how many updates to this mouse Microsoft plans to make, but I can't really judge if there is much of a performance significance in the older version. I'm just glad I got this updated version as it's been really great!!
77 Love the glow
I love my optical mouse. I do not have to worry about my mouse pad getting dirty, and I do not even have to be on a mouse pad. I can use it in my lap, if I wish. No cleanong rollers, either.
One thing I like is the red glow. When lights are out, it makes a nightlight of a sort. The glow is very pretty, if nothing else.
78 Wonderful
This mouse from Microsoft is really great. It is very accurate and quite confortable. I recentlly took it on a trip with me and it held up very nicly(didn't break). If you don't already have an optical mouse this is a great choice. Perfect for gamers great for every thing else.
79 Great Value
I recently bought this mouse because it was on sale. I had an old ball mouse that seemed to need cleaning every other day. It was a breeze to set this mouse up. All I had to do was plug it into the mouse port and install the software that came with it. I found the mouse to be comfertable to use and I love the two programable buttons on the side. Microsoft did a good job on designing this mouse.
80 Simply Marvelous
I am in love with this mouse. If it were a girl, instead of a piece of computer hardware, I'd marry it!
I bought one of these as a Christmas present for a friend whose mouse was so out of date that it was actually painful to use it. She loved it so much, I started thinking about getting one for myself. My IntelliMouse worked fine, but I found it frustrating for certain operations, especially fine detail work in PhotoShop. So I took the plunge and got one.
It was a great choice. It glides smoothly and crisply on any surface. No more little hitches near the edges of my mousepad or popping the ball out to clean it and remove the gunk from the roller bars. The side buttons take some getting used to, but I find them almost indispensible now (I've left them on the default setting - BACK and FORWARD - but they can be reset to a pretty large number of alternate uses). And, whereas my IntelliMouse had a bit of trouble when I tried to scroll up with the wheel (it was rather sensitive and tended to take that action as a click down), this one responds perfectly.
All in all, this is a very well engineered product at the price and well worth every penny. If you have even the mildest dissatisfaction with the mouse you're using now, this one is an excellent replacement and you'll never regret spending the money on it. It's also a great gift for those less hardware-literate friends and relatives who never remember to clean mouse.
81 Microsoft Intellemouse Optical
I have had the Old Style Mouse with the Ball on the bottom, and was never happy with them. Fortunatly for me the Old Mouse wore out, and I bought the Microsoft Intellimouse Optical, and it is one of the "BEST Purchases" that I have ever made. It is very smooth, no jumping around, and I love the four click Buttons. I use it right on my Computer Desk, and would Highky recommend this Mouse to anyone that wants the Best Mouse there is !!
82 Intellimouse
I really love this mouse. The old track ball type are obsolite in my opinion. The intellimouse is smooth and fast. All the buttons can be programed to your liking. When I play games like Medal of Honor the difference between a normal mouse is huge. Best mouse I've ever used.
83 Unreliable tracking on many desk surfaces
I have owned two Intellimouse Optical mice: one at my office (seven months) and one on my home system (eight months). This mouse was advertised as being highly reliable on many different surfaces without a mouse pad. Unfortunately, neither unit has lived up to its advertisements.
The biggest problem for me is that both of my Intellimouse Optical mice are HIGHLY sensitive to the surface they are placed upon. When the mouse is moved, the cursor will often appear to "skip" or "stutter" when the mouse is used on a wide variety of surfaces. Evidently, certain surfaces confuse the mouse's laser and cause it to mis-track, or send data which cause its onboard microprocessor to miscalculate the motion of the mouse.
Unfortunately for me, surfaces that cause this irritating behavior include unfinished pine, painted pine, varnished oak, and laminate countertop. I.e., all of the surfaces I have used as workspace in the past year. I even went so far as to paint a misbehaving surface in order to try to rectify matters, but the problems continue.
The only way I have found to avoid skipping and mistracking is by using a mousepad, a sheet of paper, or other such material with a flat, matte surface. Precisely what I was hoping to avoid in the first place. All in all, I wish that I had stayed with the "old fashioned" ball mice.
84 Awesome mouse!!
I bought the Intellimouse Optical to replace my older Intellimouse 3.0. I picked this mouse because i wanted a pointing device with excellent movement and responsiveness. The two side buttons are great for people who want to perform certain tasks like the run command or maximizing and minimizing windows. The mouse moves flawlessly. It doesn't studder the least bit. I have mine hooked up via PS/2 port due to the lack of USB ports, so i can only guess the mouse would get better with the USB connection. I strongly suggest this mouse for anyone who likes Microsoft's line of Intellimouses, this has to be one of the best mouses that Microsoft produces, and one of the best in thw world.
85 Hard to Install
Install required registry edit to clear out old intellimouse keys. Had to search MS Knowledge Base to get information. Once installed it works perfectly.
86 Never buy another mouse
Sure, I started off just like everybody else, with the mouse that came with my computer. After a month or so, it started jumping and was far less responsive. A little more time and it was almost unmanageable. This was probably not helped much by the fact that jitters always seemed to happen when I was dragging something important, and when I lost it, the mouse was often the target of my frustration.
Eventually I switched to a Logitech trackball that was supposed to eliminate the need for cleaning and replacement by using a fancy dotted ball, and a small optical sensor internally that interpreted the dots into movement. The concept was that since the only moving part was the ball itself, that it would never go jittery on you. Unfortunately, the rubber seal that holds the ball in place still collected dust, dirt, and oils from my fingers, and after a while its responsiveness was no better.
Then I made the move to the Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical, and I've never looked back.
The IntelliMouse, even though Microsoft makes it, is a fantastic replacement for my PC mouse, my Mac mouse, and my laptop mouse, all through the simple plug-and-play ability of the USB connector. If you have to go PS/2, there's also an included adapter so you're never without a mouse regardless of the system you are working on.
The IntelliMouse Optical is extremely accurate, and of course its responsiveness can be adjusted with the included software. As a road warrior, I never know what surface I'll be presenting on. I could be lucky enough to have a table one time, while yet another I may find myself using the seat of a chair. I've even used the IntelliMouse Optical on my leg while standing up, and it never skips a beat. Keep in mind though that the IntelliMouse Optical uses a red-colored optical sensor to detect movement, and does so by capturing images of what's underneath it. This means that certain smooth, colorless materials will render your mouse useless. For example, a pad of white or yellow paper fools the red sensor. Also, materials like a smooth red cloth. Don't ask me how I found this out - just putting it through its paces.
The five programmable buttons on the mouse make for perfect surfing. For example, I can click on a link using the left mouse button, scroll through the page using the scrolling wheel, go back to reference what I was just looking at using the left side button, and move forward again to complete what I was doing by using the right side button, only to decide that I want to save the page to my disk which I can do with a click on the right button. The scroll wheel is also another button, which I have programmed to "scroll lock" in my browser, Word, etc.
I've also found this mouse to be extremely durable. I pack it in my computer bag several times a day as I hop from appointment to appointment. It gets thrown into strange car trunks with other bags, it get crammed into overhead bins, and on occasion it even gets dropped. And yet, it functions flawlessly. The IntelliMouse Optical is quite possibly the perfect mouse, and will never be the target of my frustrations.
87 Dagg Yo!
This mouse has no doubt been the best optical mouse that I have come to use. At work I use the IBM optical navigator, and that mouse is no comparison to this MS mouse. The scroll on the MS mouse is a dream, unlike the IBM which laggs, and you can use both a USB interface or PS/2. The way that the forward and backward buttons are placed is perfect, your thumb nor your pinky ever hits them. And if your a gamer and your mouse laggs during gameplay, then hurry to get this mouse. Quake 3 runs like a dream with this mouse.
88 A Review by a Mouse Fanantic.
Improved Product. I bought the first Intellimouse Explorer about a year ago - and returned it after 2 weeks when I started developing wrist pains and experiencing inaccuracies with the optical sensor. This version is definately an improvement. Microsoft has tweaked their optical sensor, and it works flawlessly on the desktop - although I have yet to test it out on games.
The Optical sensor gives a smoother feel to your mouse movements and saves the cleaning hassels.
My main gripe is that Microsoft has made this mouse is too light - and for bigger hands, it feels small...but at this price point, you can't beat the quality and accuracy that Microsoft delivers.
89 A Microsoft product even a Mac user could love
I purchased a Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical to replace the Apple Pro Mouse on my PowerMac G4. As much as I liked the Pro Mouse's aesthetics, it was beginning to annoy me in use. The biggest problem I had was it's slow tracking - especially for an optical mouse. If moved at all quickly across the mouse pad, it would loose it's bearings and throw the cursor back to the opposite side of the screen. Very annoying.
This is not a problem with the IntelliMouse Optical. It'll track fast as you can move it! Of course, the programmable buttons and scroll wheel are the icing on the cake. The included software installed without a problem (I'm currently running MacOS 9.1), and the mouse was easily configured. Being left handed I appreciated the fact that, unike the Intellimouse Explorer, it can be used with either hand. Along with the button positioning, it's size and weight feel just right. Also, the cord is very long compared to the, some say too-short one connecting the Pro Mouse (not problem for me though).
For the price (including rebate) and it's nice operating features, this purchase was a no-brainer.
One minor negative, and it has nothing to do with the product itself. Product registration must be done via Microsoft Passport. Recently, in the press there have been some security concerns mentioned about this 'service'. No thanks, Bill.
Update: Microsoft has now released a MacOS X driver for the Intellimouse.
90 If you need a optical mouse get this one.
This mouse is amazing. I am left handed and I find this mouse very comfortable to use. The mouse is very precise and never "skips" like other optical mice. The mouse is very lightweight and the buttons make a nice click sound when they are pressed. The scroll wheel also has a textured surface so it provides an excellent grip. All the buttons on the mouse are fully programmable and this feature is really nice. The mouse plugs into your USB port but the box includes an adaptor to plug it into your PS/2 port. I plug the mouse into my USB port built into my Microsoft keyboard and it helps clear up the wire mess behind my desk. The mouse also has a really great coolness factor with the red "taillight" on it. Buy this mouse and you wont regret it.
91 My fav...
My favorite mouse to date. Works on any surface so I don't need a mouse pad cluttering my desktop space. Great buttons and easy to program the buttons for what you want them to do. So accurate too, the optical is the only way to go. Goodbye to track balls. The cool light is neat. :) USB connected is great. I have plugged into my keyboard which has 2 USB ports on it. Very handy indeed, no wire stretching all the way to my pc on the floor. Scroll button works great. Hands down a great product. :)
92 Best Mouse Ever!
Hats off to Microsoft for an excellent product! The mouse movement is smooth as silk and the five programmable buttons are great. I love the left and right side buttons; being able to click back and forward while surfing the web is such a time saver! Also, no moving parts! I even ordered on from my brother-in-law, he is a smoker and his manual mouse gets full of dust and ash (GROSS!), not anymore with the Intellimouse. I would recommend this to anyone who has ever had to try and clean the inside of a manual mouse with a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol. Great Product!!!
93 great value
like the title says, this mouse is a great value, sitting between the intellimouse explorer and intellimouse wheel. it fits my hand perfectly too, as it is not as big at the explorer.
fuctionwise, the tracking is unparalleled--the new intellieye scanning at 6,000 times per second makes the mouse virtually skip-free, unlike older optical mice. the 5 fully programmable buttons are awesome too. the inteiipoint software allows you to assign different functions to different buttons, in different programs! i even have a button that saves my document in microsoft word! it's really a brilliant invention.
my only gripe about this mouse is its weight. it is on the light side, and i hear the hollow cluck every time i pick it up when i'm playing a game. i've grown used to it by now, but it took a couple of weeks.
in short, i believe this is the perfect mouse for me. its optical eye works great, the buttons are ingenious, and the low price at amazon.com (...) make this mouse the best bang for your buck!
