1 bag for 8700
This is a quality bag for the price. It is a little small and tight for the Nikon Coolpix 8700.

3 Killer Camera
100% all NIKON, some of the best pictures I have ever taken. When I went to the Kodak print machine to print them out, I had a line of people looking at the print quality. You cannot go wrong here, Amazon had the best price of everyone.
4 Watch Out!!
This is a very good camera if you intend to use it right out of the box exactly as it is. In my case, I always considered it a must to protect the lens with a UV filter. I reckoned that if I damage the lens on a camera of this nature, it's finished. However, attempting to acquire a UV filter for the 5700 or 8700 was a four month nightmare. My last camera was an Olympus C2500. It is an extremely fine camera in every respect except it was only 2.5 megapixels. Even so, reasonably sized images were excellent and with great foresight, Olympus threaded the end of the barrel to accept filters. The Nikon products are not threaded and require a confusing array of adapters and filters. So confusing that Nikon kept sending the wrong parts for 3 months. Neither the dealer, Wolf Camera, nor Nikon Technical support knew what they were talking about resulting in wrong parts coming and going for over three months. So plan on the fact that Nikon Technical support does not fully understand their own products and you will likely have to do your own research and waste lot's of time. Finally B & H camera in New York said they knew what I needed. So I spent even more money and the filter adapter and filters arrived. For the first time, the adapter was correct, but the filter and adapter ring caused shots to come out very dark. Evidently, the Tiffen adapter blocked some sort of sensor. The B & H tech asked me to unscrew the filter and adapter and see it the camera worked with just the barrel on it. It did. So I thought I might spend the $119.00 Nikon requires for their filter set. HOWEVER . . . I found the long barrel of the filter adapter causes a dark semi-circle on the images when using the standard flash. Another call to Nikon Technical support confirmed "THIS IS PERFECTLY NORMAL." I think most of you would agree that on a camera of this caliber, dark circles of an image at night are not acceptable. So, back to my original thought, if you intend to use the camera right out of the box it takes good shots. If you feel you might want to extend its capability or protect it with attachments or filters, you could be very disappointed. I've wasted four months just trying to protect the lens with a UV filter. I will be attempting to return the unit to the president of NIKON. A good camera should not generate this much frustration.
5 Great Advanced Amateur/Novice Camera.
This is without a doubt, an exceptional camera. I've had mine for a little under a year and I have NO complaints about it. I bought a 512 MB card to go with it shortly after getting the camera and I get about 800 pics on the lowest exposure, which is PLENNY of detail for emailing or use on a non photography centered website. Even if the rough image must be cropped down to achieve the final picture. And 5 megapixel has always been more than I've needed for backdrops, prints, and anything I've needed to do with my photos so far. I get good battery life, and the major controls are immediately understandable, although this camera definitely has more than enough depth and features that will keep you reaching for the manual till you get used to the camera.
Two caveats, one - it looks like CF mem will soon be replaced with CF II. Although CF mem will still be around, it wil definitely put a time limit on how long you can use the camera. two - either get a card reader, or get a larger card (which u'll need) that comes with a USB reader, most good cards (mine is lexar) do this. All in all, the camera is SPECTACULAR!!!
6 TOO SMALL
I received my camera case intact, and in a timely manner, but it's really too small to carry more than one battery and one photo card, as well as being a snug fit for the camera. The bag needs to be bigger, and a little more padded/insulated for the protection of the camera.
7 Good small bag for the 5700
If you're looking for a good snug fitting case for the 5700, this is it. It's a tight fit, but holds the camera and strap. There is room in the top inside pocket for a card or other item and the front pocket has quite a bit of room for a extra battery or other misc accessories. Belt loop seems robust and the rings for the strap is sewn into a nylon strap that goes all the way around the bottom. This is perfect for when I just want to carry the camera and move fast and light.
As to the turning on in the case. I suppose this would be a problem if I didn't consistantly turn the camera off and the switch to review. If the camera is switched on accidently, the lens won't extend. Simple solution that one should always use regardless of the case.
I imagine this will fit the new Nikon 8700 as well.
There seems to be two models of this case floating around out there. (especially on ebay) The one pictured above is the best. The other seems to be lacking some pockets and features.
8 nikon coolpix 5700 case
Great camera case for nikon 5700 made for and fits well.Does not carry much gear but why should it its not a camera gear bag. It fits my needs.
9 Good case for only the camera
This case fits the camera well, along with space for an extra battery and several compact flash cards. DO NOT buy this case if you use filters. There is no extra space for the large 67mm adapter or the filters themselves.
10 THIS CASE SUCKS! - FRAGILE, NO STROAGE, CAN DAMAGE LNS
THis case looks great & is $$ cheap, but is realy for the casual user & not a "working bag". The belt loop will eventually tear away & will allow your over-priced camera to crash to the ground ! This has happened to be. Another annoyance - the way the camera is loaded into the bag - it is very easy to inadvertantly turn the camera on - which will bugger up the lens drive motor/mechanism as it tries to force the lens "out" against the bags close-confining sidewall !!!!! This also happened to me in Paris where I had to buy another camera to get me though my trip! ( where I had to carry this Nikon around because of the dead lens ) ...It also only has room for a couple batteries & perhaps another media card. It really a storage bag for when the camera is not in use - it is very fiddly to get the camera in & out when you are using the camera over extended periods. Get the TAMERON, or the "other" NIKON bag that is bigger. Photoflex also has cool bags ..
11 nikon 5700 leather case
Just like I wanted it as compact as the camera. I can also fit my mini-tripod (clamper pod) inside the extra pocket.
12 it's for coolpix 5700
well made case. I expected this made in japan - not in china. Except that so far so good. totally agree with bikerken.
13 Dandy little case
The 5700 camera fits like this case was made just for it - which it was. The reviewer who said the camera wouldn't fit has the wrong camera or a different case than this one. It's soft, well made and and has pockets for extra batteries and CF cards. If you want to carry more gadgets, you would be better off with a gadget bag than this camera case, but if you want just a case, you won't do better than this one.
14 Genuine Leather Case for Nikon Coolpix 5700
The camera fits snugly inside the padded leather case. I slide the camera in backwards with the lens pointing up. The coiled camera strap fits alongside the lens. There is a zippered compartment in the front that will hold two spare batteries. Another zippered compartment in the lid will hold two spare memory cards. There is small mesh pocket on the lid that is good for temporarily storing the lens cap. The lid closes with an adjustable plastic buckle. If it's tightened all the way it slides over the sides with no gap. If the buckle is loosened there is a gap, but also enough extra room to allow the camera to fit with a lens attachment. The case comes with a strap and a belt loop. The belt loop doesn't look very substantial. I will be relying on the strap instead. The Nikon name is on the round plastic oval on the front of the bag. The camera fills the bag nicely so if you planned on hiding your lunch in there too you will be disappointed.
15 Decent Camera Case but doesn't fit the Nikon 5700
The case is small and well made for other 5000 Series camera but Nikon 5700 that I bought doesn't even come close to fitting inside this tight case!!!!!!!
I think they need to Clarify this so one doesn't go through with the order and return.
16 ...little bag
Bit of a ... tatty little bag. When closed the top allows space around the sides for water/grit/gunge to get in. Not an appropriate bag for your expensive 5700. Try the Lowepro range instead - altogether a better class of bag.
17 Nikon's best yet.
This is a well-made prosumer camera. It is light, compact and powerful, with outstanding features that create more picture opportunities for serious hobbyists. A brief list of helpful features is: 8x zoom lens; electonic viewfinder; easily accessible menu to control and enhance results; raw, tiff and 3 jpeg formats; pop-up flash and external flash attachment, etc, etc. This is Nikon's best effort to date. Have fun!
