1 Quiet Ringtones
This phone is excellent in all respects, save one -- the ringtones are very quiet, so quiet in fact, that at the highest volume, they're difficult to hear outdoors. If you remove the battery, then put it back in again, the volume goes back to "normal", but they're still quiet, even on level 5. If you don't need loud tones when your phone rings, I highly recommend this phone. As others have said, the display is excellent -- even for someone like me, who is visually impaired.
2 A GREAT phone for kids that don't need it very often
I bought this phone as a part of the AT&T Free2go wireless plan, and it has worked out perfectly ever since. The bright blue light is a great flashlight for the dark, and although the numbers are a little harder to push, they are perfectly sized. The ringtones arn't polyphonic, obviously, but are still quite good. This phone is a little on the heavy side, but it is EXTREMELY sturdy... much better then those expensive, light phones.
3 Dont confuse it with a higher end Nokia
Dont understand why ppl BRAG so much about a product like this, its not a PDA/ CAMERA replacment its just a BASIC handset and if someone thinks that its features/ Looks are TOO CHEAP then they should spend some reasonable amount of money and and buy an expensive handset!!! Some people are a little too much! Well guys this is Nokia version of a Basic handset which is EXTREMEY realiable and VERY EASY to OPERATE esp for those who just want a cell and are not into TECHNOLOGY, I myself have been using it on AT&T FREE2GO and it has been JUST GREAT - AT&T FREE2Go and Nokia 2260 are a great basic combination esp for those who need a cell phone for occasional use. I RECOMMEND IT CUZ I OWN IT FOR 5 months now!!!
4 No problem phone
This phone is nothing special but it is reliable. Holds all my number and never gives me trouble. Would be nice if call time and *date* were displayed, and the standard Nokia ring tones are crappy, but otherwise it's been a really solid phone.
5 TURNS OFF, PIECE OF JUNK
This is my 2nd 2260. The first one kept turning off with no warning brand spanking new out of the box. I returned it with a $14 mailing charge, and now the replacement phone - 5 days old_ is giving me double letters on the screen, misssing letters, and then turnes off as I tries to answer it. It is a piece of junk. THANKS A LOT AT & T.
6 If you miss your old nokia...
This one makes having to upgrade a little less painful. I miss my bigger older Nokia (can't recall the number). It doesn't have all the polyphonic bells and whistles those expensive phones have but a cell phone is a cell phone. It's not a camera and it's not an instant messenger. I believe in multi-tasking but let's not get ridiculous.
7 Heavy little guy who makes calls by itself
My husband and I bought two of these with a shared plan. Even though we're sharing minutes, we do not get any discount for calling each other, in fact, we get charged on both ends and we constantly get bad reception. (One of us usually hangs up and we call each other on my Siemens phone.) This phone is VERY heavy compared to every other cell phone I've ever tried. I also don't like the fact that there's no cover for it. I keep it either in my purse or in my coat pocket and it frequently dials numbers by itself with the slightest bump or touch from something... which adds to my phone bill.
8 Ok phone
This phone is pretty good. If you are looking for games and polyphonic ringtones you shouldn't get this phone but if you are looking for a nice phone that works well get this one. It has a really cool blue background light. This phone is easy to use. I agree with one of the reviewer saying that this phone is easy to drop. It is but it is well made and droping it doesn't seem like a problem. For me it has good reception. Overall I would reccomend this phone.
9 Nokia 2260-frustrating beyond words
Cell phones are a high steal item. The NOKIA 2260 has NO security in it--you cannot lock your phone with a password. (that is, the only way to dial out or answer-you put in a password). Thus, if you leave it in a restaurant or elsewhere, or drop it, *YOU* are responsible for the perhaps thousand dollar phone bill anybody can run up calling europe or whereever on your cell phone. I told Nokia and they have confirmed you cannot password protect this phone.
The internal antenna is NOT a blessing. If you accidently hold the upper portion of the phone, your signal will either get extremely weak or cut off. Easy to do considering how small it is. Would a phone cover diminish the signal? So you end up not getting a phone cover. Which comes to another problem:
It is VERY EASY to drop. The phone is small and slippery. I guarantee you will drop it on the ground as you have no traction to hold on to it. It's just easy to slip and drop.
For all of these reason--mainly lack of security for no password protection, I took it back and got a Motorola, which I absolutely love with extremely clear reception (better than this Nokia that's for sure).
Nokia 2260 has a nice display and a pretty blue light when it rings plus numerous different ringer sounds to choose from, but these cannot compensate the lack of security and easy to diminish antenna signal.
10 This phone is great
This phone is good it doesnt Hang up on me like my mom's did to her you should get this phone!!! Plus the plan is great!!!
11 HAVING TROUBLE SEEING YOUR PHONE? BUY THIS ONE!
I'll admit: I was spoiled with my Qualcomm 2760 thin phone. It had a great display, and was nice and thin. I had to change it last year, when I moved to FL and found that Sprint had a "dead area" of coverage, which, unfortunately, seemed to be directly over my house!
I switched to AT&T Wireless, and have found the coverage and call quality to be very good. However, the horrible Nokia 5165 phone they gave me was thick, and the display was illegible. When my contract was up recently I was seriously thinking of changing carriers just to get a new phone, even though I liked AT&T.
Enter the NOKIA 2260. When I told the AT&T rep my problem, she went straight for the 2260. The display is so bright, I use it as a flashlight sometimes when I'm looking for something in a dark room. I'm not kidding. A very nice blue display, and decent size numerals, means I can check the time when walking my pooches at night.
It also uses a regular 2.5mm (?) headset jack, unlike the old NOKIA that had a special adapter. Holds a couple hundred numbers; it is my phone book. Battery life seems great. Best of all, it has a built in vibrating paging feature.
Quit squinting! Buy this phone!
12 clear, easy-to-see display
While it is larger than some of the tiny flip-phones, it has a nice solid feel and clear sound. I find the display very readable. The keys are a good size with just the right touch. I previosly used a Motorola V-120 and I prefer this Nokia because it does not have an external antenna. Overall, a great phone!
13 heavy !
it is not worth buying this phone. It is bulky and the keypad is hard to press. My fingers hurt when I dial. headset becomes hot when talking for more than 10 minutes. Battery life is terribly low! i think less than 90min talk time. Phonebook has only 200 entries--you cannot make separate entries for the same person like mobile, office/home like in the newer models.
There are much better phones in Nokia at the higher level.
bottom line: not worth a try!
