1 Nice Small One
This was one of my first phones and i loved it. It was small enough to put anywere and was so fun to play with. it had great ringtones and wallpapers on it plus i had sports updates to get all the latest game score it was an awsome feature. But the on thing i didnt like was that with no external antenna there was always a very weak signal indoors so you would very often loss you connection and miss calls while inside a building.
2 Excellent phone. By far my favorite yet!
This is by far my favorite cell phone yet. I live in Cen. NY and have Cingular. I thought I had lost this phone and was very upset to see it was discontinued. If you're like me and don't want a flip-phone, this ones awsome...I also like the way the keypad lights up to the ring tones. I also subscribe to a weather forcasting svc w/ dopplar radar (on a phone) its great for boating or if away from tv during summer storms. The built in speaker is neat but limited to quite settings. Overall- Its Excellent!!!!!!
3 Amazon is great.. phone is great, just say away from AT&T
WARNING: AT&T representatives ("Dawn: R361" and "Max: N360") themselves said during my troubleshooting (as detailed below) that I should NOT have bought through Amazon, and that they have received a barrage of complaints from Amazon buyers! I still really like Amazon, but they're integration with AT&T is non existent. People should not have to wait 2-3 days for service after they receive the phone. Buy the same phone on Amazon, but a different carrier.
4 Good phone and good service
I really like this phone. It's not the highest quality, but it's still a really good phone. Like all Nokias, you can throw it around and drop it a lot and it will still work. It has a good color screen, unless you are one of those stupid people who expect your cell phone to have a screen like your laptop. The buttons are really small, but I don't have a problem with them at all. Also I really like AT&T. So many people reviewing phones say they hate AT&T, the reception is bad, and they are on hold for an hour when calling customer service. I don't have ANY problems with the service. I would recommend this phone to anyone who wants a basic phone.
5 AT&T GSM - Some dead spots with THIS phone!
I purchased the Nokia 3100 on May 29 and was happy with it as soon as i turned it on. I recently had a Nokia 1260 and i hated it. It did have really good service, though. The Nokia 3100 has a lot of good fetures. I perticulally like the speakerphone. I've never had a speakerphone, in my life but when i got this, i was amazed at how loud and sensitive it was to sound. The voice recorder is great for those moments when you want to record, say your baby laughing and have it as your ringtone.
I go camping and i usually go up to the mountains. When i went up there, in the Poconoes, i had to go all the way from my campsite and walk to the campstore and it still took about 10 minutes to get service. My friend has a Nokia 3595 and his got 1 bar of antenna at the campsite. i wasn't very happy.
The moral of this story is: DONT BUY THIS PHONE WITH AT&T GSM IF YOU WANT SERVICE EVERYWHERE, STAY WITH AT&T TDMA.
6 Great Phone
The Nokia 3100 is:
-Small and lightweight
-I have had far less dropped calls from this one than I did from my old (Sprint/Kyocera-Qualcomm) phone by far.
-All the features are great, including the ability to record your voice (or anything else you can hear) for up to one minute and then use it as your ringtone!
-The color screen is very good
-The earphone is great, and it comes with a button you press to answer the call or to hang up. Very nice if you are driving and waiting for an important call.
-The middle button is useful for volume control, calendar and other functions.
-The alarm reminder can be a lifesaver.
-Battery life is far better than I am used to or expected.
My only gripe, the calculator is awkward to use. Other than that I highly recommend it.
7 Wonderful phone with a poor antenna
I purchased this phone with AT&T service. The phone itself is loaded with more neat features than one could imagine in such a tiny package. The screen is color and the software includes games, screen savers and other goodies. The menus are easy to learn and the storage capacity is generous. The phone itself is quite small and can be unobtrusively slipped into your shirt pocket. The included headset works quite well and I found myself using it even at home. The built in speakerphone is a bonus. The battery life is quite good and I only needed to charge the phone every few days. Plus the phone is triband which means that you can use the phone anywhere in the world.
All of that being said, I would not recommend this phone for someone who might have difficulty seeing or pressing the small buttons. For example, I would never consider this phone for my grandmother.
Another problem is the reception. Outside I have no problem getting a signal. However, once I try to use the phone inside of my home or other buildings, I can not get a signal. I believe that the integrated antenna is to blame for this problem rather than the carrier, but I can not be sure as I have not tried using another phone in my home. From reading the reviews of other Nokia models, poor reception seems to be a problem across the product line.
In summary, a great phone that I would highly recommend if it were not the problem with reception. It is only with remorse that I am returning mine in exchange for another phone with an external antenna.
8 slim and perfect
I have several Nokia phones. This 3100 is perfect with AT&T here at Madiosn, WI and College Park/Greenbelt, MD. I was relocated from Maryland in late January. I drove pass PA, OH, IN, IL, and WI along I-70/76/80/90/94 all the way up to Madison. I talked with my friends both here and Maryland, and never got disconnected. The original hand-free is very comfortable, too. Unlike those ear-plug style, the new design has great shape and mic quality. Highly recommand this Nokia 3100 + AT&T network.
9 Absolultely zero signal with At&t - switched to Cingular!
I loved this little phone but was really disappointed severely when upgrading from At&t TDMA to GSM. I had zero service in my house and the neighboring areas. I thought I would just have to go back to my TDMA phones. However, after finding out that Cingular uses this phone as well it I tried it out and man what a difference!! I get great service everywhere I need to. Now I'm going to port my At&t numbers to Cingular and I get to keep the this cool phone! Refrain from switching to GSM for At&t until they have better coverage, especially if you are in Southern California.
10 Poor Reception in San Francisco, CA
I have a AT&T Family Plan with my wife. I have the Nokia 3100 while she has the Nokia 3595. In the same locations, the 3100 would lose the network connection while my wife's phone would still get 1-2 signal bars. That sucks! The 3100 constantly loses reception, especially indoors. My wife's 3595 in the same locations manages to maintain a signal. Disappointing b/c I like the features of the 3100 alot.
I frequently have to manually choose my network connection because my signal bar is at zero. It's weird, even in my house where I get a full signal bar, this phone if I put it in certain corners and stand in front of it, the signal with AT&T gets lost. Like I said above, my wife's Nokia 3595 never loses its connection to the network.
So I conclude that the 3100's reception sucks or I got a defective model.
11 small and slick
I upgraded from a 3360 TDMA phone to this phone this weekend. So this is a first-impressions review. My carrier is AT&T.
So far I have been really impressed with this phone. It has all of the features you might look for on a larger model like the Nokia 6200, which I was also considering. The main difference is the amazingly small form factor. As usual with Nokia, the features are well integrated and almost everything is easy to find and figure out. The phone is extremely light (3.5oz) and the screen is large for the size and bright. Reception seems good, and the included headset is a big improvement over my earlier phone.
I have found a few of the more esoteric features somewhat underdocumented, but otherwise I have no serious complaints.
Regarding Accessories: My older Nokia AC adapters are compatible with this phone, although the cradle I own is not. At least I don't have to spend more on AC adapters. There is also a PC cable for this phone which seems to cost a small fortune.
