Nokia 3650 Phone (T-Mobile)

Sporting a large, 4,096-color display screen and an unconventional, rotary-style keypad, we found the sturdy, feature-rich Nokia 3650 cell phone one of the best designed phones on the market, with excellent ease-of-use, crystal-clear reception, and a camera, video camera, and Internet access.

Take and share pictures with the 3650.

In our tests, we found that the comfortable rounded base of this 5-inch phone rested easily our palm, and the clever retro button display took only a moment of getting used to. The buttons and disc navigation felt quite durable, with a nice, solid action. Menu navigation involves two thin buttons on the top left and right that allowed us to move in and out of menus; then the standard 4-point clickable disc provided more detailed selection. There's a separate button for the main menu prominently below the disc, and the faux-rotary layout of the number buttons helped keep the navigation buttons out of the way during dialing. The requisite call and hang-up buttons are intuitively marked, and a futuristic-looking blue light shines through the numbers on all the buttons for easy keying in low-light areas.

The 3560 delivered consistent, excellent reception in a variety of testing environments, including a basement-level room that typically causes trouble with similar phones. The default ring tones were a bit too gentle for their own good; they were hard to hear in busy outdoor environments. The tones that we created using the composing feature, however, were quite audible, even in the midst of lots of noise. The vibrate alert was also quite effective and hard to miss. Nokia has also preloaded a variety of other polyphonic ring tones for alternate use, as well as a voice-dialing feature, which stores 25 numbers and was easy to use.

In Calendar, you can keep track of your appointments, meetings, birthdays, anniversaries, and other events. You can also set a calendar alarm to remind you of upcoming events.

With the video recorder you can record video clips, and play video clips stored on your phone or on a memory card. Also, the video recorder is integrated with the messaging features allowing you to easily send created clips.

Thanks to high-speed GPRS connection, users can access a variety of Web content, such as news, travel information, and entertainment specifically designed for mobile phones via an XHTML browser, which supports pages written in both HTML and WML (Wireless Markup Language). The 3650's calendar, phone book, and to-do list can all be synchronized with a PC using Nokia 3650 PC Suite software. This phone also supports Java for downloading business applications, and built-in Bluetooth and infrared connections empower users to send photos and text in either e-mail or MMS format to a PC or to another compatible wireless device. Some of the downloadable Java and Symbian applications provided by Nokia through their website include Merriam-Webster Word Search, and games like Racing Fever, Avant Go, and Terminator.

The phone's digital VGA camera is cleverly built in to the back of phone, and can store up to 1,000 photos at 640 x 480 megapixel resolution on its (upgradeable) 16 MB memory card. Also, the Nokia 3650's photo capability is immediately accessible from the top-level display menu, so unlike other phones it was easy to snap a photo at a moment's notice. The camera records images in standard, portrait, and a nighttime mode.

With the same basic set of controls, RealOne software lets the video recording function capture short, low-fidelity sound and video clips for immediate MP4 video playback on the generous screen or for sending to another Web-enabled user. The 15-frames-per-second video recording rate delivers stuttering, delayed images that look sort of like Neil Armstrong's transmissions from the Moon. We found this all very entertaining, and potentially useful for transmitting small bits of information, but hard to take seriously as a true video recording device.

Among the scores of additional features on this phone are text messaging templates, where you create a basic message (like "Let's eat at --- ") then fill in the blank as you wish; a foreign currency and units converter for the jet set crowd, and a "favorites" folder to store Web shortcuts and links. For hearing-impaired customers, Nokia even provides TTY/TDD (Telecommunication Device for the Deaf) compatibility. The headset included with this phone is functional, and Li-Ion battery comes rated for up to 4 hours of digital talk and 200 hours of digital standby time. The phone comes with a refreshingly well-written manual. While decorative faceplates and other accessories are available, we found that even without them, the Nokia 3650 is one of the most coolest phones we've ever laid our hands on. --Erik Hammen

How We Tested Battery Talk/Standby Time

When reading our reviews, you should view the test results of mobile-phone battery talk time and standby time as relative information only. Many variables, including carrier signal strength at your location, signal consistency (including incoming and outgoing calls), display and ringer settings, and battery charging methods and history, will affect performance. When handset manufacturers and mobile phone carriers list talk-time and standby-time ratings, they usually include disclaimers about variable performance and often refer to the times they publish as maximum times. Some quote expected battery life ranges, and in this case you're probably safe to assume you'll experience at least the minimum rated range. Note that manufacturers of dual-mode digital and analog handsets publish battery-life rates for both digital and analog modes, as analog mode consumes much more power than digital mode.

Our Tests: We tested digital-mode talk and standby times with each phone. Prior to each test, we fully charged the phone's battery according to the manufacturer's directions. To test digital-phone talk time, we turned the phone on, established a digital carrier signal, dialed a number in our test lab, and, when the call rang through, took the receiving phone's handset off the hook. When all went well, we didn't do anything else except record the time when the phone died. In a couple of cases, the phones lost the signal and dropped the calls. If we were right there and could redial, we did so immediately and continued running the test. Otherwise, we halted the test, recharged the battery, and started the test over. Assuming consistent carrier-signal strength, this test should represent best-case talk time. And it's worth noting that several phones' talk-time performance significantly exceeded the manufacturers' ratings.

To test digital-phone standby time, we turned the phone on, established a carrier signal, and left the phone in standby mode. We checked the phone every few hours (for what was often days on end) until the phone finally cut out. Since no outgoing or incoming calls occurred during testing and because the phone was not moved, this method should represent best-case standby time, again assuming consistent carrier signal strength.

2 I had this phone for 2 years and loved it!
This phone is a little clunky, but wonderful! The symbian operating system makes this phone infinitely expandable. Some of the programs you can download and install include: eBook readers (to download and read books from the New York Public Library, for instance), remote control software (to control your TV through infrared or your computer through bluetooth), game emulators (I had hours of fun playing games with a game boy emulator).

The operating system supports multitasking, so you can switch back between a phone call and an ebook without ever quitting either program... so you can turn the speakerphone on, and play a game while you're on hold. I grew to like the circular orientation of the number pad... while confusing at first, it made sense after a while.

Also, since the phone's PIM synced up with my Mac (via iSync), I never had to type a phone number or email address into the phone, which made for speedy usage.

The more advanced nature of the phone's operating system makes it prones to crashing. If a program isn't coded correctly or it crashes, this phone is prone to go into a "reboot loop", where the phone can't start anymore, and the only remedy is to take it back to T-Mobile or Nokia through the warranty. Meaning, if a program crashes your phone (which happened 3 times over 2 years to me), you have to get the phone replaced. Not good. So make sure you have a carrier with EXCELLENT customer service (like T-Mobile, as opposed to Cingular or Sprint).

Overall, I loved the phone, and the benefits far outweighed the costs.
3 Bluetooth works great
I have had this phone for almost a year now. It is one very dependable phone. Just got the chance to use it's Bluetooth capabilites. Paired it up with an IBM laptop with Bluetooth to use as a modem when WiFi is not available. The Bluetooth works great! I use it with T-Mobile and took it with me to Europe on vacation. Worked great!
4 NICE AND GOOD
I got this phone like 3 weeks ago and its good. Its really good with T-Mobile. I think it is a good price and i need it because im 14 and i go to school and its pretty far.
Pros
-Nice screen
-good camera
-good sound recorder
-good memory
-Good video recorder
cons
-It looks kind of big and weird
-The ringtones are to light and cant hear well
-The ringtone maker is hard to use
-The recorder only does up to a min
-The phone number is in a circule
-The phone buttons are a little to soft
-The phone has only a couple of numbers

But over all the phone is good and nice its much better then the sony errison t610 i switch with...It has good respution also...If you like nokia buy this...
5 I'm having a very hard time replacing this phone..
I've grown so attatched to it. It's the best phone i"ve ever owned. Sure, it's big but the features make up for it. I'll never go back to a motorola phone again. Someone please help me find another nice nokia phone wit TMobile that has these features.
6 had for over 2 years
I got this phone (Nokia 3650) two years ago. And it's the best phone I've ever had. With other cheap free phones I felt the need to upgrade every 6 months. Not with this phone. It has everything.

It is about the size of my hand, and it is easy to find in your purse. I take pictures everyday, and then email them to myself and print on photo paper. The quality of the pictures are good! When the pictures pop up on my computer screen they are not tiny, they take up at least half the screen. Super easy to send pictures to anyone- the phone emails straight to anyone's email address, or send to another camera phone. My dad and I email picutes and videos back and forth all the time, it's a great way to stay in touch. In your contacts folder, people can have more than one number (home, mobile, office, fax, etc.). I know my old phone's contacts were a mile long because of all the entries (Mom Hom, Mom Cell, Mom Work, you get the picture). The curved dialing pad is not that hard to use, I enjoy it. Older people who are used to 4x3 dialing are just stuck in a rut and don't want to adjust to anything new. They keypad is very easy to get used to. Other great things - good ringtones, you can make pictures your background, you can attach pictures to contacts so when someone is calling their face pops up, lots of games to download, lots of features to tweak (colors, graphics), the text messaging is SUPER, and the GPRS, let's talk about that!

I used the GPRS/internet feature all the time! I check my email, check movie times, get directions, play internet games, get the weather, all with just a push of the button (after you set it up, easily done at T-Mobile.com.

I don't reccommend buying this on Amazon.com. I just wrote this review because I know that myself and others come here just for reviews, not to purchase. The best thing to do is buy straight from T-Mobile at one of their stores (not a cart at the mall, or a cell phone store) or at tmobile.com. Then when you call customer service for anything you know you are covered. I have been with TMobile for about 8 years. Yes, back when they were Voice Stream, yes back when they were Aerial. Customer service is always excellent, never had a problem. Great prices for service - we have 3 phones on one plan and all share minutes- all for about $90 a month. Never had a dropped call, hardly EVER lose my signal (I live in Dallas-Fort Worth area and Kansas City area). This is the 1st cell phone I have every purchased, all the others TMobile has given me for free. Hell, if you can't afford this phone, go to one of their stores and get a cute free one, they have about 4 to choose from.

All in all, T-Mobile is fantastic, this phone is fantastic.
7 Not dissapointed
After reading scores of reviews and comparing this phone to others I finally decided to go with it and have not been disappointed. I had a hard time because I really wanted the small size of a flip phone with the features of this phone. There was nothing in my price range that fit so I sacrificed the flip feature. It has fallen several times and each time the cover has popped off and the keypad has flown out. It freaked me out the first few times, but the phone has never "broken". It makes me wonder if it is designed to take the impact that way saving the interior workings from damage...? I've only once in a whole year had a problem with dropped calls. It has a great signal and the volume on the ringer (at the highest level) is just right for me. I love it that you can have a different ring for each contact. It saves me time running for the phone if I hear a familiar ring. I always know who I need to call back without even looking it up. The vibrate feature works great. I can usually even hear it vibrate if it is near me! My husband has a T610 and at first I really preffered his phone for the size (fit in the pocket size), but mine fits in my purse pocket perfectly so I have no need to complain. I prefer the way his menus are set up, but mine were definitely more user friendly (easy to use right out of the box). His just lets you do a little more. I used my camera on a cross country trip (our real camera was broken) and got some nice tiny pics that otherwise would not have been taken. All in all I'm happy with everything. Just wish it was a flip phone (personal preference).
8 Be the envy of your friends!
I've had this phone for about one year, haven't had a single problem with it. It take pictures at almost 1/2 of a megapixel, 800x600, and although the video isn't as good, the fact that it has video at all is awesome. It can also hold MP3 and WAV files (and use them as ringtones), and with a few free programs, you can put a .swf file on it too!
It looks like it might be uncomfortably big, but it's not. I just barely feel it in my pocket. I have never had it run out of batteries, and I keep it on at all times. The only slight problem is that sometimes it pushes random buttons while in my pocket, but not that much.
9 Don't waste your money or your time!
I purchased this phone as a upgrade when I had been with the world's best wireless provider (T-Mobile) for a year (YAY ME!). Initially I was so in love with the phone itself since the phone I had before it was a dinosaur to me- the Samsung R225. A few weeks after I purchased it, the initial infactuation wore off and it was a regular, old, fat phone which is actually one of the first things people delight in telling me when they see it! "WOW! What a HUGE phone!" "I've never seen a phone that big!" "It looks like a remote!". While I do hate attention it brings, I sometimes secretly enjoy the perks of this phone-like the camera (both reg. and video), high-quality color screen, the real one player, as well as its uniqueness (is that a word?). There are a lot of cool tricked out things to do with the phone as well, as far as faceplates, flashing what-nots, etc. but who would want to bring attention to this phone. I am currently showcasing this "UCO- Unidentified Cellular Object" in a delightful magenta faceplate that allows it to play nice and fit in well with the other phones on the playground. A word to the wise: Don't get sucked in by it's witty features and convinience- be prepared to deal with the unending taunts, compliments, questions, and awkward stares of those who want to know more but are afraid that your monster of a phone will bite their head off mid-sentence! For those of you who choose to purchase this delightful piece of machinery-make sure you make your decision to return it within the 14 day trial period!
10 good and bad
Been using this phone for about a year.
pros:
big screen
camera
reception is good (tmobile)

cons:
operating system problems
phone shuts off anytime it likes
ringer sometimes rings at a lower tone so u miss calls
the phone is fat

11 like a mini computer in your pocket
The best aspect of the Nokia 3650 is also in some ways it's worst aspect: it's so laden with cool features that it is slightly oversized in your pocket. But putting up with the extra girth is worth it because of what you get in return. The phone has an oversized display that's huge and bright even in sunlight. The reception is almost FM radio quality. I have had this phone for over a year and have never dropped a call. The VGA 640x480 camera takes pictures of surprising quality in different settings. I upgraded the 16MB storage card to a 128MB (~$40) which is more than I'll ever need. Bluetooth is not going to break any speed records, but it's handy to connect wirelessly with my PC with only a few clicks (and an BT adapter!). This phone might be overkill for the casual cell user, but it has everything that today's discerning and demanding wireless customer could want. As mentioned, my only complaint is that it is slightly ovesized when compared to the average phone. Otherwise highly recommended. There is also an upgraded model available: Nokia 3660 with traditional keypad and a more colorful 65k display.
12 Do U really want it?
I brought this phone because it is a tri-band phone. After unlocking the phone which T-mobile does it for free. I was able to swap my friends gsm from att and make calls. It has a video camera but u can recod only 13 secs. I liked the contacts of this phone. It lets u store the address and contains a full blown address book. The blue tooth feature is a cool thing. I was able to sync with MS outlook using the Software i downloaded from Nokia website using the infrared feature of the phone.

It is big and bulky like a brick, only good thing being it is not as heavy as a brick. Lack of cases is antother jarring point. The unique key pad is cumbersome. It takes some time to get used to it. I was not able to play some of th mp3s i had with the real player provided.

Some features are cool but u don't use it on a daily basis.
13 Circular touch pad? You've got to be kidding
I was an early adopter of this phone. It was one of the first phones to ship with Bluetooth and a built-in camera.

I can't wait for a few more months to go by so I can justify getting rid of it.

DISLIKES:

1. Circular touch pad. What a poor idea. You will never get used to it, I predict. I have never found it intuitive. It always slows down dialing.

2. Too big to carry comfortably in the pocket.

3. Operating system requires too many steps and is not always intuitive.

4. Resolution of camera is poor, and lighting/shakiness is terrible in low light.

LIKES:

1. Bluetooth
2. Large size is better for holding and speaking, more like a home phone.
3. Speaker phone is really handy, and is loud.

Make me an offer, I would love to get rid of it! The people at Nokia who thought up the circular phone pad should be required to use it for the next 10 years.
14 nice phone, but hard to carry
well, I owned this phone for 10 months now and its too big.. all the features are great. really a great phone...but kinda too bulky and heavy.

also that circular dial pad isnt comofrtable. thats why they changed it for the new 3660. overall its a nice phone.

15 pretty okay phone
I've had this phone for almost a year (...). I actually like the keypad, it's unique and not at all hard to get used to. The screen is large and colorful, and the there are many great polyphonic ringtones to choose from.

The downsides might just be my specific phone or my service, but here they are:

- phone is very large, compared to most others
- my battery seems to last just a couple days when I don't even make any calls during that time
- the ringtones, at the highest setting, are really quiet when vibrate is off, and extremely loud when vibrate is on.. not in between.
- even when I make the volume the loudest, what I hear from the phone is still much, much quieter than my friends phones, and it's difficult to talk in loud/normal rooms.
- I don't get service in the subway (understandable) or elevators (when many of my friends do) or even in stores, sometimes.

I don't really use the camera/video feature except for the thumbnails of my contacts, which I find nice.. seeing a friend's face (small) pop up on the screen when I get a call.

I find the to-do list and notes and calendar, etc, all useful.

Overall.. there are nice features on here, and I guess the only negative thing that is certain to be in all Nokia 3650 phones (since the other downsides might just be my phone) is the big size.

16 no complaints here
i have had this phone for a little over a year now and overall, i really like it. i like the fact that it is a little bigger than the typical phone so that i can find it in my purse. my reception is great unless i am somewhere in the middle of a forest, the screen is large and colorful, picture quality of the phone is the best i've seen amongst camara phones, and i've even dropped it a few times and it has held up nicely. all in all, for the deal i got on the phone, how could i even consider complaining?
17 This phone rocks!
The phone is terrific although its kinda big.
18 complex to use and died after 6 months
It took time to get used to the keypad and it's not worth the effort. Then it kept cutting out/ending calls. Finally it just died. And Nokia says they give a 1yr guarantee, but its not that easy. I'm switching companies after this.
19 It's almost smart... but flawed, and annoyingly so.
This is my first phone since owning an Ericsson RX280L, and I had gotten used to unlimited Internet access and long battery life as necessary features for a phone and service. The Nokia 3650 will browse the Web, and the battery is fairly long-lived. On those counts, this is a perfectly acceptable upgrade. However, when you rate it on its own merits, there are some points to consider.

One, it uses MMC flash for storage. MMC isn't exactly the most popular format -- Secure Digital (SD) would have been a far better choice -- and so comparable capacities cost more for MMC than SD flash. What I find disappointing about the MMC choice is that offering MMC *and* SD isn't very difficult in itself. In fact, Lexar sells the Trio which handles Sony Memory Sticks, SD, and MMC quite nicely and compactly. Minor point, perhaps, but consider your current flash memory investments before buying the phone.

I love the camera. Good snapshots, neat little movies that pick up sound, and even a sound recorder. So the added utility of the phone is very attractive, making the flash memory issue a little more than minor (imagine owning five SD cards and realizing none of them work in this phone).

The Symbian OS is a dog. It's a slow dog, that annoys me to no end. The bootup time for this is comparable to Windows 3.1. Really! A PocketPC or Palm device, by comparison, has no boot time (well, the Palm OS has no boot time, PocketPC negligible for warm boot). I'm not a big fan of this OS, or its abilities.

Nav of settings, utilities, etc. is a little complex. There's a handful of ways to get at phone settings, for example, and there's probably a million little shortcuts you can use... and would probably not want to memorize. Programmable front buttons let you choose oft-used apps (Camera and Bluetooth, for example) and it supports one-touch dialing... well, one-key plus the green "ON-Go-Dial" circle.

SIM card support; store numbers on your SIM or the MMC card or the phone memory. Seasoned travelers would likely store numbers on the SIM. Onto Bluetooth and synchronizing.

Nokia's PC Suite is powerful, if you can get it to work. Setting up your PC to use a Bluetooth stack isn't trivial (lookup Jon's "Definitive Blueeooth Guide" for the best help; also geekzone.co.nz). When it does work, it's wonderful. Pull off images, upload WAVs to use as ringtones, save all settings for backup, synchronize Outlook contacts and calendar to the phone, superb utility if you get it to go.

All this leads me to a solid conclusion: the Treo 600 kicks its butt. PalmOS, SD card support, most mature synchronization utility available. Aside from the cool camera functionality, this phone is not the best you can buy, leading me to believe that the true future of mid- and high-end phones, as well as PDAs of the same class, to be full convergence of the two. And so with that in mind, get this phone if it's free with a new contract... then wait for smartphone prices to drop.

20 The phone has great features, but the software/OS is buggy
This phone is great for features, its camera is amazing, and it gets good signal. I would love all of this were it not for the awful OS. My first phone inexplicably died 8 months after purchase, sitting right on my desk. The replacement unit was great for a month and now, sometimes the phone locks up when I try to look at the Call History or text Messages. I'd say the phone locks up on me almost daily.

As I said, I love the features, but in the end, it sometimes doesn't function well as a phone. So beware.

21 I love this phone!
The phone is bigger than most cell phones, but that's one of the reasons I wanted it.Those tiny phones may be fine for some but I needed something that wouldn't get lost in my handbag. I like all the features, although I don't use most of them on a daily basis. The camera is nice to have, although not a replacement for a quality digital camera but its nice to text message a vacation pic. I've had my phone for 14 months and have not had any serious issues with it. It;s very easy to find accessories and downloads are a breeze for ringtones, etc. Though a little pricey, I find it worth every penny.
22 tha234
i love this nokia phone and i have been ready to buy it because it is my dream phone. i like it because of its camera and recorder the phone is one of the phones nokia settled down and worked well and it has a lot of features..WAYNE WONDER MAKES USE OF IT AND I AM SURE HE LOVES IT VERY WELL......
23 The Best phone in the market!!!!
It is really GREAT phone, it is very cool, a bit big, but who cares, as long as it has photo and VIDEO camera in it. Battery is great, ringtones, games, extra features (for example music composer!!) are the nicest. I bought it when it was 350.00, and still I think the phone is worth it. And reception is just incredible. In one year I NEVER had any problems with the reception. Just get one if you are a Nokia fan, as I am.
24 Never got my phone
I thought this would be a great phone--I ordered it and a matching T-Mobile plan based on the recommendations on this page. I waited over 2 month for it, and an Errikson T616 to arrive but they did not. Amazon notified me there were errors in my application. It tried fixing them--twice. I awaited my phones and equipment, but nothing happened. Amazon failed to notify me in a timely way that there were problems. The end result--I'm without my phones and my order was cancelled. I cannot believe being treated so poorly.
25 hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it hate
REally really hate it. I bought this phone in May of 2003. In June I sent it in to be repaired. Got the phone back in October only to have the phone die on me again in December. Sent the phone back in. This time they sent me a new phone. Guess what? It is broken too. I really wish that I would never have spent my money on this piece of junk. From now on I will stick with Samsung.
PS would have given it a negative number of stars but not an option
26 good phone, but its slow
The phone overall is good. It even plays gabeboy games with one modification. It just has times where it is so slow it is irratating. For the money you cant beat it.
27 May have all the features, but is it worth it
This phone has all the features you could think of, internet, video, audio recorders, camera, etc. The camera may be handy when you have nothing else, but the resolution is horid and its almost useless. I dont ever really get to use any of the features. I really like the speaker phone! It is so bulky everyone always gives me wierd looks because they cant figure out if it is a phone or palm pilot. The material it is made out of seems real flimsy. It's difficult to quickly text mail with the circled key pad. The ring tones are hardly audible. Sometimes it goes online on its own and I get charged. Nokias are easy to navigate, but overall the phone just has too much useless stuff and is too big.
28 Nothing but aggravation!!
I had this phone for 4 months.

Cons:
Poor reception
Super bulky
Camera phone resolution is so-so

Pros:
Good speakerphone

29 Regret buying
I was quite excited to be getting this phone, given all its functionality. The size & key pad were not (and still are not) hinderancs. The ENORMOUS problem has been with its bluetooth functionality. I have spent over 25 hours talking with Nokia customer service & 2 different Bluetooth manufacturers (Belkin & Linksys). None can fix the problem. The bluetooth companies blame Nokia & Nokia blames the bluetooth companies. Meanwhile, my phone's functionality (a KEY reason why I bought this phone) still does not work, I've wasted over 25 hours with tech people, & no answer seems in sight. This has been an exhausting and extraordinarly disapointing purchase. I could NOT recommend this prodect - or Nokia, given their poor customer service - at all.
30 Nerd Heaven
I bought this phone a few days ago, and it is awesome!
Out of the box, it is pretty cool(...)!

Cool Features: Bluetooth, MMC Card [16MB included- but upgradable], large screen, plays any MIDI you can drop into it, IR connectivity.

TONs of software: It runs Symbian OS, so there are lots of programs/games to install. I have installed 'Active Desk' [a replacement desktop/theme organizer] and AgileMessenger [supports MSN, Yahoo, AOL, ICQ and other IMs] along with 'Extended Profiles' [lets you custimize when differnet profiles come on, or how long they last + more]. Check the Yahoo groups for 3650- there are several of them with lots of good backgrounds, games, ringtones, etc. There are replacement web browsers [Opera, NetFront], screen savers, IR Remote software, and even a Gameboy emulator [haven't tried this one yet]. Hell, there are even movies you can download and watch on the unit [once you get a larger MMC card].

Negative Features: Bad battery life when usign Bluetooth & IR excessivly, strange keypad layout [you get used to it], bluetooth learning curve, slow 'boot-up' [about 30 seconds].

I have this connected via Bluetooth to my PC [with a few headaches setting it up] but I have been having problems connecting to my TG50 clie [need special drivers from the internet].

So, at this point, I can check my e-mail, browse the web, chat on MSN or Yahoo! messenger [hard to do with the keypad- predicive input helps] and go anywhere in the US that T-Moblie has coverage [or most cities and interstates that have GSM 1900Mhz].

If you like gadgets that you can tie into your computer, palm, car, etc. then this is the phone for you!

31 Excellent Phone and Amazon Rebates work.
I bought this phone around new years 2004 (...) P>The phone is great and here's a list of great features I like about this phone:
-Comes with an extra 16mb MMC (so you get 4mb phone memory and addtional 16mb, totalling 20mb for your phone)
-IR and bluetooth ports (excellent for transfering pictures from phone to computer)
-Large Screen - great for browsing the web on your phone. (recommend getting Doris Browser for browsing web)
-Easy to install applications and games (you can find many online and just send them from your computer to your phone via IR)
-Loud Speaker is a plus (I use calendar alarm and phone alarm all the time and the loud speakers can always wake me up)
-Free headset for driving.
-Great signal strength (compared to my last phone Nokia 3390 Gold, I use to loose signal in the elevator where I work, but the 3650 I have full strength)
-Charges battery very fast (same comparison with my last phone, use to take me 1 to 2 hour to charge a drained battery to full, but with the 3650 adapter I can get a full charge in 30 to 45 mins.!)
-Plays midi files as ringtones (you can download many free midi files online and just send to your phone via IR)
-Voice Recorder (great application that it comes with to just record quick voice messages)
-Video Recorder (one of the only phones out there that can record videos! only records 10 seconds but its always great to record something really quick to remember it)
-Camera (great quality in sunlight, and you can store hundreds of images because of the additional 16mb mmc which is also upgradeable)
-Voice acctivated dialing and one touch dialing (just something fun to use when you dont want to dial someone's number in.)

Draw backs that I've had:
-Loud Speaker died out once (probably because I use the clock alarm and calendar alarm daily, but the great thing is T-mobile replaced the phone for me for free. They shipped the phone to me, and I shipped the deffective phone to them, and they paid for all the shipping.)
-Keypad (a lot of people find the round key pad as a problem, but after a while you do get use to it.)

Thats all the draw backs I can think of. I've had this phone for over 4 months now and I use it daily. The phone is not too big as some people may say. Its bigger than most phone on the market, but it is still a small phone that you can just put in your pocket. Navigating through the menu is easy and if you know shortcuts (like pressing the number instead of arrows to select an icon) then applications can be selected fast.

32 Ignore muwap SHILL from Washington DC
Ignore the idiot below who's abusing Amazon's review feature in order to shill for muwap.com's ringtone service. IT SUCKS!
33 de best
this phone is tight, i highly rekamend it to yall
34 The best camera Phone
This phone is great 4 taking pictures,so if your a picture taking person you should consider buying it.
I have one and i like to use the,camera,e-mail,MMS,SMS and the video recorder.
i downloaded a mulitimedia player from the nokia.com so that i can now video record clips from my phone and send them(via blutooth)to my computer.then e-mail the clips from my computer.
However the volume of the ringtones are limited but thats my only fault with the phone.
I don't use T-mobile service so i dont know if they would support all of the phones' features.
35 amazon
So, it has been 29 days since I placed the order. Still have not gotten the phone. I wish I could rate the phone but I can't.
But amazon.com sucks. really sucks. But just in case, you still purchase throught this site, remember to check your 'spam'? mail. After they send you the initial purchase order email, they also send you one that tell you to contact the plan servers. The second email can get lost, and that is cause of the delay.
36 Great phone
It is a great phone...better than my pre-owned Motorola V66. I love the oversized screen... It makes it very easy to read it. Also the dial pad buttons are just fine and easy once we get used to them... Great phone.. Great Buy....
37 The best phone there is!
I got this phone for my b-day and its one of the best presents i ever got! This phone is totally awesome with its cool polyphonic ringtones, big screen display, fast internet connection and definitely the picture and video options. The only thing that sucks is that the 3650 has around 4500 colors compared to the 3660 which has 65000 colors for better pics. Anyway, this phone still rocks!
38 Not a Star Trek Tricorder, but...
pretty damn nice. Does what they say it will do and some things they don't (see above review "quite happy"). I didn't really want this phone but Amazon was backordering the motorola camera phone.

I'm very glad about that now. Loaded the opera browser after some fiddling, and bluetooth works great. Even installed opera over bluetooth using NOkia's PC software suite. Camera phone works well as can be expected. Check my moblog at http://madcow.textamerica.com to see examples.

It even has various emulators, and I've load the C64 Frodo emulator. Kids, this ain't your daddy's phone. It's got an OS (google symbian software sometime), AND a file system (something my friend's Handspring doesn't have). The Wap capabilities will get you to many sites. The phone MMC card at 16 megs is a bit limiting but you can buy bigger ones. Definitely get the bluetooth going. I bought the belkin F8T001 adapter after some research.

39 pretty good phone
I've had this phone since july. The features are pretty cool. the reception is good in most places except lower levels like a basement. everyone thinks its a cool looking phone, even though it is a little bigger than most phones. the round dialing pad is easy getting used to. and i use the camera often because i can transfer the pictures via infared to my laptop.
40 AMAZING PHONE!!!!!!!!!
This phone is worth every penny...i had an old nokia phone so i decided to upgrade & it was worth the money...it plays wav files as ringtones (it converts it to 10x smaller than normal wave files)...great sound, clear reception..has lots of games....i can play NES,gameboy color emulation also.....i also love the key pad...soo diff from regular phones..the only complaint i have it the 4096 colors on screen compare to most 65,000 colors on screen phone..but its great...
41 Perfect Phone/Camera
Its a great phone with the coolest "extra" features. It is sleek, though a little bulky than other phones, but a great style. The sound is great, speakerphone is good, utilities are great and is very user-friendly.

The camera is perfect, great clarity camera wherever you go. Other cool features include sound recorder, where you can record 30-40 second clips and use them as ring tones. This is a cool feature, it blowed my friends minds. Its a great camera to own:) Video recorder function is very handy. The colours and screen (its huge) resolution is great:)

42 phone is excellent in the chicago area
I had the Sony Ericsson T-610 which dropped calls so I switched to the nokia 3650...couldnt be happier...never drop a call..excellent reception in chicago area where i live....features are great..no complaints....great phone...even though it looks big, fits in my pocket of my jeans easily
43 Nokia 3650
Great phone compared to my old Sony ericsson T68.
Clear calls, great pictures, good signal.
Overall A+++.
44 It's nice phone...
Reception of this phone is excellent. I have received it after two days.

There are two problems with this phone:
1) rotary dialer buttons are a bit small and they are not suitable for all hands.

2) games come with phone suck.

45 Fantastic phone!
Once you get past the odd keypad layout, this is a great little phone! You just can't get a phone for anywhere near this price that has the screen and software available. Reception is clear and it gets great signal strength (especially compared to my old Sony Ericsson T68i). Bluetooth works great - I can even use it with my Sony Ericsson HBH-60 headset with no problems at all.

Strongly recommend going with T-Mobile and getting the $10/month "T-Zones Pro" so you can use the built-in web browser without paying additional fees for online time. T-Mobile really has the best data plan I've seen.

46 Volume, Volume, Volume....
I've given this phone 4 stars because it is basically a great design. I love the bluetooth and - I know that I'm in the minority - but I LIKE the size. It actually feels like there is something in my hand when I'm talking. What I don't like is the volume - both ringer and especially caller voice volume. I've probably given my age away - 55 - because I like the size and while I still hear reasonably well I DON'T have the hearing of a 20 year old. Most times I am straining to hear the caller's voice. The increase volume button is on the front of this phone and you must ask the caller to pause for a moment so that you can find the button and maxamize the volume. For some reason the phone seems to not hold this maxamized position between calls. Even at maximum you may have trouble hearing if there is background noise. My plan is to wait a little longer to see if Nokia comes out with a software update for the phone - doubtful - they seem a little like the old Microsoft.... Keep pumping out new products with little attention given to the old ones... thus creating a reason for an upgrade. I probably will end up purchasing a new phone at full price just because of the low volume level.
47 The Future in Hand
This phone is, first of all, an amazing piece of technology. Combining many (most) features of a PDA with a mobile phone, it represents the coming (or, rather, ongoing) convergence of computing and mobile communications. And at an amazing price: free (in the US, at least).

The 3650 uses the Series 60 Symbian operating system. Some of the features and applications included out of the box are: WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) browser; still picture camera; video camera (both video and audio); sound recorder; calculator; calender; notepad; alarm clock; an email client; two games (Snake and MixPix); and RealOne video player.

The phone carries 4 megs of memory on board, and uses MMC (Multi-Media) cards of up to 128 megabites (or more, depending on the firmware build; though Nokia recommends not exceeding 128 megs, no matter the build) (it comes equipped with a 16 meg card).

Presumably because of the fairly limited on-board memory, it seems Nokia has chosen to keep the applications it loads onto the phone somewhat modest (eg, a WAP browser instead of a full mobile web browser such as Opera - more about that later) - thereby ensuring that this device is taken more for a super phone (with which you'll be satisfied) than a disappointing computer. Fortunately, the phone has a great deal more native capacity for apps than its initial offerings indicate.

Right now I have loaded on my phone the Opera mobile web browser mentioned earlier; an excellent video application from Phillips that allows for unlimited sound and video recording (the phone's native video app is limited to 11 seconds); an assortment of games (such as Karting, Interstellar Flames, and Chess Genius) that have approximately the same visuals and playability as games on the first Playstation; and Mobile Crystal Player (an app that allows you to play videos you've converted into a proprietary format on your PC). One of these days I'll get around to downloading the FULL LENGTH MOVIES (such as the Matrix series) that are available free through some of the 400 Yahoo clubs devoted to the 3650.

The Opera browser allows you to surf the whole web (as opposed to the WAP browser, which is limited to WAP sites) and it works great - once you remember to turn off animations (Java is a memory hog) and view images (which you can also download) selectively (because of this, it's not quite the same experience as surfing on a PC, but it's pretty close). And with T-Mobile service, unlimited internet access is only $5.00 a month.

Some people take exception to the circular keypad, but I've found that you get used to it in a few weeks. And then its a joy to use.

Only a very few mobile devices offer more memory, larger screen, and greater functionality - and those devices (such as the Sony-Erickson P900) have a high price tag (P900: $800). If you're in the market for a mobile phone - or if you'd just like to get your hands on the future - I can enthusiastically recommend the 3650. You won't be disappointed.

48 Nokia 3650- Tmobile- Worth It
I love this phone. I really like the screen resolution. The menu and features are great. Good reception. The pictures are really good quality. No complaints at all. Wokrs great, I would recomend it.
49 Great!! Nice choice.
This a great phone to have.
Pro:-Circular pad, with little practice, it is very comfortable.
IR and Bluetooth works great, you need to read setup before you have other devices connecting to it.
Overall no problem, battery life is good, except when you have bluetooth is continuously ON.
Speakerphone that is so good.

Cons:-
Phone must have a sliding cover to cover the screen when not used.
Ringer Volume is low.
Phone must come with application/Software like FullSreen caller,MP3 Player and other daily usage application.Customer's will then know what good this phone can do.

50 Review after 1 year of use - Good phone with bad ringer vol.
I am writing this after close to a year long of use. The only reason I bought this was - it was FREE :-) and comes with Bluetooth and IR. Now let us go to the review.

As a phone - reception is exceptional, BT works great, screen resolution is mind-blowing. Phone book is very detailed and good. Call logs are good. These are basics for any phone. For all these parameters, this phone stands apart EXCEPT the ringer volume - I will get to this later.

Size - it is a big problem. I bought a holster, then an original case from Nokia and it doesnt work anyway. By the time I open the velcro flap to get the phone out and hit the talk button, the call goes to voice mail. So I abandoned using any case. This phone is a bulkier.

Keypads - It looks different and great and especially at night, it is eyecatching but it is a pain to use. I use internet a lot via phone so it is more painful.

Ringer - Like many mentioned, no matter how high you set, the sound is not enough. I have a tiny Motorola V66 that will drive you out of the house with its ringer volume! Workaround is to keep "Vibrate & Ring". In the car and mall keep "Outdoor" profile.

Handset volume - I havent seen many complained about this. This is another nuisance. When you either send/receive calls and if you did not press any other key, you can adjust the volume. If you had pressed any options while calling some customer support, you can't. It took me a while to understand this funny behavior. Workaround is hit the "back" key to return to enable volume adjustment.

Battery - Great. Never had problem. I turn on my BT all the time and works still fine.

Screen size - I love the screen size. This is pretty much the size of my Tungsten T.

Other features - Calendar, To-do etc., are as good as a PDA. You dont really need any PDA if you have this and setup an easier sync process.

There is no "Auto-keylock" feature. This feature has been spread across two different features.

Camera quality is ok. Dont expect too much from this one. Memory card feature is great. This helps you to transfer images back and forth to a computer.

There are dozens of sites to offer wallpapers etc. I downloaded some utils/games for this phones for my son to play.

This phone is great in most part except, size, ringer vol and handset vol.

For a free phone, hey, you cant complain so much.

Hope this helps

51 terrible!
I bought 2 of these phones...one for me and the other for my wife. We've had them for several months now and had nothing but problems with it. We both had upgraded from a Motorola T720i (terrible as well). Our nokia's turns themselves off everytime constantly. The volume is very sofy even when turned all the way up, making it very hard to hear. Ringer volume is also very soft even at highest setting. We've ordered replacements with hopes of better quality.
52 It's big, has issues, but it's still a fun phone...
I have the 3650 with T-Mobile service and although it certainly has some serious shortcomings, it's a really fun phone to have in your (large) pocket when going out with friends.

The camera takes fairly decent 640 X 480 photos, but if you want any kind of detail, subject must be within arm's length and you must have a steady hand. I've taken a number of shots and you have to be careful when pressing the shoot button to not press so hard that your hand moves, or you've got a blurry shot.

Battery life can vary depending on usage. I've had stretches where I'm not using the phone and the battery's still got a couple of bars left, but the other night I was viewing pictures and the next morning I woke up with a dead phone.

On that note, there is a well documented issue on various message boards around the web where a user will go to bed with a fully charged phone and wake up with a dead one. There is a relatively simple fix for this that involves folding up a piece of paper and placing it between the battery and the battery cover. I was skeptical, but it did work for me.

The software package that comes with the phone, which is also available on the Nokia website is functional and offers quick transfer of file and contacts if you have Bluetooth.

SMS, sending email, and general phone number dialing can be a bit tricky at first because of the non-standard keypad, but it does get a lot easier with some time.

Whenever I break this phone out, I invariably get comments about how large it is, but that is perfect for someone like me who is apt to lose items out of my pocket.

Overall, this phone is a lot of fun and I haven't had a major problem with T-Mobile, which I did have back when they were Voicestream.

53 So much potential, but so darn big
They were still a hassle.

It was my first cell phone, so I was quite happy with the voice quality, nice screen and wealth of features.

Then I lost the phone on a trip. I wish I'd had phone insurance. This time, I got a Sony Ericsson T610 as a replacement.

I am so much happier with the new phone. It has made me realise all the weaknesses of the 3650, which include:

- it's far too large
- it uses up battery way too quickly (I was charging every second night, if not every night)
- did I mention that it's far too large?

In the end, I have no idea why it's so big, and the battery life is relatively poor. I'm glad I made the switch.

54 Good Phone - I would shop again with Amazon.com
A great phone, bought it in Sept 2003. Since then it has been working great. The battery charges quickly compare to my old phone.

It has some good features. One of which is the Calendar. I use it a lot to remind me about special events and different tasks. It works just handy.

T-Mobile's T-Zone service is good too. I could surf the internet when needed.

It shows the minutes I used after each call.

Also the timer helps me understand how many minutes I am utilizing while I am talking on the phone.

At first I thought the circular dialing may be difficult but after using it, did not bother me at all.

It has so many more features which I did not get chance to browse or use yet.

Over all - I like it especially with the best deal on Amazon.com, it is worth the price.

Pros-
- Bulit in camera and video features
- Scheduler, Calendar, Notebook etc.
- Bluetooth ready
- Good reception.

Cons-
- Big phone to accomodate the display.
- Heavy in weight. I wish it was more light weighted, I could have given it 5 star.

- The default ringtone is not loud enough. You may miss the important phone while walking on the busy/noisy street/area.
- Does not automatically alert you if you have used your plan minutes.

55 Good features... and poorly written software
I needed a phone for my business (in-home computer repair) and the 3650 had just come out and looked like a good choice. That was in August of 2003. Since then, T-Mobile has replaced the phone and battery once and I still have the same problems - the phone constantly crashes. I get errors like "Appserv main closed" which causes me to miss calls and lose text messages.

And if you use a car charger (I've bought 2 of them), the battery will not vibrate until you have charged it for a while using the regular wall charger. I've missed a lot of calls this way - if you listen to music while driving, you're not going to know someone is calling you w/o vibrate.

Ultimately, I regret choosing this phone. If someone calls and I'm not there to pick up the phone I know that person will try one of my competitors rather than sit around and wait for me to call back. The only plus side is a nice carrying case that I picked up. And T-Mobile has been pretty awesome about the entire thing.

Good - T-Mobile rocks, phone looks cool, nice carrying case that hooks on your pocket, features.

Bad - P.O.S. phone that has resulted in lost customers and thousands of dollars.

56 Excellent but for the size...-Muthu
I have used several models before, but Nokia has the lead over Samsung and other brands. This is a excellent gadget to be proud of... that too without paying a price(Iam lucky to get it free from a TMobile dealer without any downpayments).

Good:
- Trimode(SIM open ...so it can be used in countries using 900, 1800 & 1900 frequencies- Most of Asia and Europe)
- Awesome screen display and ease to use menus.
- With this TMobile has plans less than 20$ for those who just need a phone for emergency and just 1 year contract.
- Good pictures
- Upgradable Memeory, infrared and blue tooth(But u have to spend around 80 bucks for a good bluetooth enabled headset)

Bad:
- Size, what else. Get a case else u end up in lots of scratches.
- Menu popping up while capturing picture(Are you supposed to take the picture without aim??)
- Low ring volume even if the volume is set to high.
- Key pads little unusual(round about) but thats not a big deal.
- With TMobile Dont expect a coverage like Sprint has. They have good coverage only thru all the major cities and freeways.
- Fast battery drainage but dont complaint about this if you play a lot around taking pictures and video clippings.

Why not to have a free 300$ wonderful gadget in your pocket?

57 Bulky, strange, but fun
If you like features galore, yes it is quite useful. But the keypad is not driver/walker/phone-holder friendly. It is bulky. It may look small, you may think oh, it is not that big, but when it is in your pocket you think, wow~ it is really not that small...
screen is huge, very user friendly applications, and you wanna get a belt clip or some kinda case- cause the face plate sometimes pops open when it hits the ground...
58 Good Phone for Tech Loving folks
This phone is really cool for Tech Loving Folks who like to use any of the following:

1) Use Bluetooth to connect to other devices for Data transfer and/or use this phone as modem.
2) Use Infrared. (if don't have bluetooth. this is handy)
3) PIM-Contacts/Calendar Syncronization If already using it or plan to use it in future.
4) Camera comes handy for certain occasions a person cannot carry regular one.

Unlimited Internet for additional @$19.99 from TMobile is very cheap and helpful in use where there is no internet access but TMobile access is available. I tested it to work with my iPAQ PDA using Bluetooth and these 2 devices make excelent combination. TZones is included, as I was told, in it. But Phone TZone display is very small.

Another thing I found useful is AvantGo support for this phone, Real Media Player, Alarms are easy to use, Bluetooh Printing (Not tried tho) and support MMC card .

If want to have contact/calendar synchronized (PDA, PC's/Laptops,Phone, Data Watch-sync thro PC), I believe, this is a really cheap device with new subscription and excellent in features.

If not using most of the above, there are other Decent Phones that have Camera and other regular stuff.

Many people don't like Dial Pad shape but this is "different".

CONS:
1) Little Bulky.
2) Be careful, battery doesn't last good if playing with features a lot.
3) that's it

My Best Combo will be:
----------------------
iPAQ - Blutooth Compatible PDA's
+
Nokia 3650
+
PC/Laptop with Bluetooth Adapter
+
Smart Watch or other Data Watch that can sync calendar/contacts with PC.

59 fun phone
Of course any color phone is going to have a short battery life. The same way that any color lap top has a shorter battery life, it uses more energy. I love my phone, people are generally suprised that it is a phone when they see it. You get used to dialing the numbers at a rapid pace just like any other phone. I got my phone straight from the provider i use for my cell phone, so i dont know about the amazon rebate, my phone cost me about 99 dollars. For basic functions and a few advanced ones its a great phone.
60 Buyer Beware
If it hadn't died on me twice in twelve days (we're talking two different handsets in less than a month!) this would have been the greatest phone ever. I concur with the editorial review. With both bluetooth and IR technology integrated into the phone, there's very little it can't do. The menu was very easy to navigate, the camera was amazing, the graphics and color are beyond comparison and the screen is huge to boot. The MS Outlook synchability was also really handy. I started beaming all of my Palm v.cards into it as well (one at a time, sadly) and the interface worked without any problems. Setting up my archaic desktop to receive bluetooth was even hassle free. Overall it had the potential to replace my palm pilot, digital camera and gameboy (yes, you can download a gameboy emulator onto the phone) and be a phone with great reception on top of that.
HAD IT NOT DIED.
TWICE.
Barring its premature death(s) the one thing that took some getting used to was the rotary style keypad, not so much for dialing numbers, but for text messaging, which if you don't do much of, really isn't a problem. It did take a little time to acclamate myself to it, but like all things, we learn and adapt. And then our phones die. Twice. (Did I mention it died?) Specifcally, the screen kept blinking on and never got past the Nokia "Logo". Same problem, both phones. The current working theory is that the gameboy emulator asked a little too much of the phone and caused some kind of short circuit. Which I suppose is valid, but I would still question why the phone would allow applications to be installed on it that were beyond its capacity to handle.
Another design irritation was that entering new numbers automatically defaulted to phone memory and not my SIM card. This is only a problem now, as I am no longer using my dead phone(s) and wishing I'd saved those now inaccessable numbers to the SIM card instead. The issue of size is also valid one, personally I found it to fit my hands well and not be too bulky. I'm also kind of tall, so fitting it in my pocket wasn't a problem either, considering it more or less replaced my pda and various other space consuming items. The phone comes with a memory chip but is also upgradeable, which is cool. If memory serves, one reviewer boasted a full length movie on his phone. More power to him. I can't get Legend of Zelda to funciton properly and he's watching Titanic. Shows to go ya.
61 Nice phone for all the bells and whistles-battery life short
I really loved this phone when it came out. I have to admit it's the best one in the US if you want a PDA type phone along with PHOTOS and VIDEO. You will need to BUY a blutooth link adaptor however ($40). The Worst of this phone is the Battery life! It's about 24-27 hours on my phone! It sucks to charge a phone every other day or all the time, which is my case. Second, the size, it is BIG and bulky. Third, when you take pictures, you can't see the picture as you take it, only just before, then a window pops up and blocks the image. So, you might have to retry 'cause you can't see at the exact time you shoot, if someone blinks. I was glad that I got both Amazon and Nokia's rebates- so the phone was free, only saving grace to make this phone tolerable. However, the book is long and there are so many things I haven't learned since the book size and a little too ABC's style to get to an actual quick answer to basic questions, which is daunting. There are so many smaller phones with pics which is probably more practical. However since my Palm 7 was stolen, I do carry everything on this phone and it does have a SIM chip so every thing can be carried onto the next phone, BUT you must DOWNLOAD it ONE by ONE into the phone/chip(LENGTHY). If you want video, in addition to all the bells and whistles this is a nice phone; battery life and size..? this is something to think about before you commit to buying this phone with your plan.
62 The most features in any phone in the market.
This phone has the most features of any phone in the market. Camera, tri-band, connectivity with Bluetooth and IRDa, and static and removable memory to maximize your usage of the functions.
The size is larger than many phones out there, but it is a reasonable compromise for the features. Even newer phones from Nokia are yet to have all the features of the 3650.
As a phone, reception is phenomenal, I have never suffered any dropped calls. Though you are better off locking keys when not in use. They are quite senstitive and may make a call without your knowledge, and it has happened to me more than once.
Overall, a very good deal and a great value for free.
63 I love my phone!
This phone delivers everything I wanted. Video, pics, clarity, comfort, volume, battery life, email (pics, videos, etc.) Buttons are very user friendly for the things you do most.
64 Watch Out Never Recieved REBATES!!
The phone is fine, however, the rebates promised from T-Mobile and Amazon have never appeared. I even sent the rebates reciept confirmation and am still being told they have never recieved my rebate form. If you buy the phone based upon rebates dont bother if you want a good phone this is it just dont be suprised if you dont get your rebates read in the reviews many others never recieved theirs either.........
65 Fun Being first
Make no mistake, Nokia makes a good product. I held off for a few months in writing a review. I didn't want to be reactionary. But then I forgot. So here is my review. I purchased this phone during a small window in May of 03 when it was offered for free. I think it was only offered at that price for a week, then it jumped back up after rebates. I'll tell you this: Its fun being the first kid on the block with a Camera phone. The phone took great pictures, considering its main use is communication. The Odd Keypad layout is very attractive, but for a guy that text messages a lot, after 6 months i NEVER got used to it. I appreciated the predictive text, but it isn't as good as the T9, on the samsungs. The Phone book was easy to use, as were its other practical uses. Most importantly, the T-mobile network in the Great Los Angeles area is at its best with this phone. I had an Samsung S105 before, and the Nokia gets better service, bar none.

The down sides of this phone are mainly its size, and the sluggishness of the OS. Forget putting this phone in your pocket; get that out of your head, especially if you are a female in a tight pair of jeans. The only pocket this phone fits into is a cargo pocket. lucky I wore Cargo shorts all summer. After the mystique of the camera wore off, friends and co-workers would make fun of how large it was. I'd simply reply "Its big, like a Cadillac", they'd chuckle, but in all honestly, it was an inconvenience. Often switching from one application to another take a few seconds, which got old. And it takes longer to boot up than a P1 running windows 95.

Here a quick summary...

PROS:
Signal strength
Camera
Affordibility
Memory Card (16Mb)
Interchangeable Faceplates
Ease of Menus

CONS:
Size, Size, Size
Sluggish operation
Camera lens scratches

All in all, its a decent phone, but with number portability, you should be able to talk you provider into giving you a better phone for free.

66 Fantastic all-around phone
With Bluetooth, a great screen, decent camera and snappy resposne, this is a perfect phone for just about anyone. You don't have a touch screen but that also means that the screen is more durable. It took me a little while to get used to the keypad but even that didn't take long (I generally don't dial by numbers much any more - the contacts list or voice dialing works fine).

On the Bluetooth side, I use my Sony-Ericsson HBH-60 wireless headset and it works great. I've also used this phone to do wireless Internet access through both my iPaq 1945 Pocket PC and my notebook PC. Transfer speed on T-Mobile seems about equal to dial-up speed.

Big thumbs up and you can't beat the price!

67 Good Phone, but weak ring & speaker!!!
I recently purchsed this phone and the truth is i can barely hear the ring tone. I have missed several important calls because of this. I have increased the volume to max, still of no use. The speaker also has got very low volumne. Camera feature is good but the pic comes out pretty dull.
68 quite happy
I've had this phone for ten days and can't seem to stop playing with it.

One pleasant surprise I found is that T-Mobile provides free web/wap browsing and pop3 email access through phones that can use it (no minutes used, no per meg charges). They don't advertise it, but it is well documented on various forums (such as howardforums.com and fatwallet.com) and my account details on the T-Mobile website list "Included WAP Browsing: Active".

You can also load a lot of applications on it, and sync your Outlook contacts and calendar. To do this, bluetooth is the way to go. All you need is a bluetooth adapter for your computer, and the Nokia PC Suite (free download from Nokia website). Don't buy the Actiontec USB bluetooth adapter (check the recent reviews for that product, detailing driver installation problems).

The phone is larger than what passes for fashionable these days, but that doesn't bother me. It fits well in your hand and has lots of features. It can double as a small PDA. I don't think it would be as functional if it were just a little flip-phone.

The button layout looks weird, but it makes it easier for typing email addresses and other website URLs.

The camera is surprisingly good for a cell phone camera. Using the included email access, you can take pictures and email them to your friends at no cost. If you send the pics as MMS messages, there is a charge, but sending pics via email is free. It can even shoot video clips!

You can also do online instant messaging (not SMS text messages) for free. There are many applications you can use for this. Agile Messenger is the one I use. It's a free download, and supports AIM, ICQ, Yahoo, and MSN. Apparently it must be using port 80 (see below).

The only limitation on the free WAP browsing is that only ports 80 and the two ports used for email are open. Everything else is blocked. This means that you can't access SSL pages (where you see a locked lock on your browser's status bar). For example, you won't be able to log in to your bank, or buy things from Amazon using the free WAP access. It can be done, but the cost for that capability is an extra $19/month.

I am very happy with this phone so far, and I think T-Mobile offers very good plans. I chose the 1000 minutes national plan ($40), but I may have to switch to the 3000 minutes regional plan ($50) if I use it too much.

Great gadget.

69 A good phone with great features
I got this phone at the last minute the day before I left on a trip to Europe. I took it with me and was very pleased with the performance. The camera is so easy to use that I was taking pictures more with my phone than with my regular camera. Additionally, I was able to email the pics back home with ease, which came in very handy. The internet access allowed me to keep up to date with headlines and news back at home with just touch of a button. The battery life was excellent and the reception in various parts of France and the UK was surprisingly good. I have also been pleased with the phone in the US. Its reception has been as good as or better than my other Nokia phones and the internet access and features make it well worth the price.
70 Ok Phone, Bad Service
Overall the phone is okay and probably a three star phone. It takes awhile to get use to the circular dial. If you are a Sprint user, forget about the four digit dial. Also, the phone freezes if you press the buttons too fast. The most disappointing aspect is the poor coverage with TMobile phones. I purchased the phone because it was the best deal out there in terms of phone cost and number of minutes included in the plan. I signed a one year agreement and purchased through Amazon. i had no problems getting my rebate or activation of the phone. With routine travel to DC, San Diego, Denver and Orlando the coverage is extremely sporadic and sound quality is very poor. It seems like TMobile is basically in the process of buying business to justify improvements to their network. I will be switching to Verizon the day my contract expires. I discourage users from signing up with TMobile.
71 Top 5 electronic things I have ever had
This phone is definitely one of the coolest elect. things I ever had(being student I have many). I have this phone for 4 months now and I am fully satisfied. I tried to use every feature and its thoughtful design (software/hardware) still amazes me. Turn on its blue tooth, and blue jack ppl. They will be amazed that who sent them that special message/picture. Needless to mention that its camera can be used as the best flattering device.
Solution for 'not very hi tech ppl' for not so loud ringer is 'desk phone lo'. As to getting that so-called amazon rebate... well I GOT it, finally... after 4 months. Though I guess this rebate system could have been better/faster.
72 with all that I know, I would not do it again
I got this phone when it first came out. I was extremely happy with it. The games were great and the screen was the best I had ever seen. One month passes by, my phone will no longer turn on. It took Nokia six weeks to fix the phone. It was gone longer than I had it. All was well again and now I was on a trip. In the middle of the mountain terrain my screen starts fading. All of the sudden it starting turning on and off, over and over again. Now I have to call Nokia and send it in again. I am fixing to switch back to trustworthy Samsung. Unless you are getting it absolutely free don't waste your time or money.
73 Its my lifeline
I've had this phone for 6 months and it never ceases to amaze me. I have a Hawking bluetooth dongle which enables communication between the phone and PC. There are endless software resources for the Symbian OS loaded into the phone. Some of my personal favorites are

Bemused (controls Winamp MP3 player via bluetooth)

TimeTracker (keeps track of all your minutes and is completely programmable)

Digital Red Bowling, and ridiculous amount of other 3rd party software. This phone is more popular in Europe as I understand and there are a whole bunch of companies specializing in developing software for the 3650/7650 there.

There is a really supportive discussion board that deals primarily with the 3650 at www.nokiafree.org...Another good thing about this phone is you can get really into the software and advanced features or simply use it for its primary purpose- to talk. Therefore this phone is very versatile and will satisfy hardcore techies and soccer moms alike.

I had a problem with the ringer a few months ago (the external speaker got blown out) and T-Mobile customer service was superb. I went to my local T-Mobile store, showed them the problem and they sent me a new one and it arrived in 3 days. It was very hassle-free experience.

As a highly technical, detail-oriented, technologically aware person, I highly recommend this phone. Though admittedly, I do wish it was a bit smaller. But I am getting the Jabra FreeSpeak headset this week which will make handling the actual phone obsolete. I can't wait. Also the only really audible ring I found in Nokia's preloaded tones is 'Desk Phone Lo.' But the ability to load MP3's and MIDI files as ringtones is pretty sweet but needs to be louder (the latter is usually louder). In conclusion, get this phone and you'll be instantly cooler.

74 mobile lover
i like because it has every thing in it affter bying this their is nothing to by any thing more
75 It does what is says it's going to do.
I got this phone in October and it's been great so far. All of the features work. It is bigger than other phones but it is soooo fun to play with when you have some extra time on your hands. I've really appreciated it while standing in long shopping lines. I think you can get the most from this phone only if you sign up for internet access through your service provider. The icing on the cake is the fact that it's free with Amazon and T-Mobile rebates.
76 One of the very few cell phones with modem
I understand the the cell phone is a little big compared to the other cell phones but think about with how many cell phones can you take a picture quality as good as the Nokia 3650? How many cell phones can you connect your laptop to the modem in the cell phone and also I dont think many cell phone come with a video recorder. Looking at all these features in a small gadget like this I am amazed at the sleekness of the 3650 phone. I have now been using it for quite sometime and I am happy with the performance. The only disadvantage would be that the screen is a little delicate a gets scrateches but since it is not an expensive replacement and also if you take care or buy cover for the cellphone you should be fine.

77 a review from a sincere gadgeteer...........
i think the 3650 is a pretty amazing phone. a couple nights ago i tested the email abilities. awesome.....pictures ...video...digital recordings all were sent to my mac email.
this was a very intuitive process. i think it is very important that these functions happen without too much effort. i really love the 16 mb card that comes with it. no one should really be able to complain much about a lack of space. you can easily set the settings to send everything to the card instead of the phones internal memory. i love being able to take video and pictures right from the two main buttons on the front. of course you need to program them....but it is very simple. how nice would it be to be watching the sunrise at the grand canyon and send one of your loved ones, who check their emails regularly....video and pictures..with a little voice recording of encouraging love and support? i am an artist. stained glass...video...photographer. its not a canon xl1s....but hey lets give nokia a little respect....it gets the job done...for now. i am a very serious advocate of the handspring visor...with the visor phone attached. have had it from the beginning and love it......even tho handspring really let this product fall between the cracks. i carry them both.... i love gadgets but look forward to carrying only one. i believe in my heart this is still open to everyone to try to create the "ONE"......if you read this and want to see this happen, email me.....i have been asking the universe for the information needed. i am not weird.....a little ecentric maybe...but really passionate about true functional, creative, supportive gadretry.....i have alot to share if someone wanted to listen. last night a tech from nokia named jeff stayed on a 3 way call with me and cingular for over an hour...their dime. THANK YOU NOKIA AND CINGULAR!!!!!!!!! technical support is so important.....they were true . thank you if you read this whole thing.....its from my heart. peter 843-626-4527
78 Get a different phone
I've decided to get a different phone. My biggest complaint is that this phone spontaneously turns off (even when it's locked). When it is on, the ring tones are hard to hear. The default "Select" button is in the middle of the arrow buttons, and it takes me 3 or 4 tries to push it sucessfully.
79 An entry-level phone not for a pro.
At first Glance, the phone seems to have almost everything that you wanted. After a while you might realize that you got more than what you bargained for! For instance you might notice that it is really cumbersome to use the round shaped keypad. Than you may notice that the 3650 likes to turn it self off sometimes even when the key lock is active!

Sometimes it just locks up and freezes, other times it auto dials your friends, it must be telepathic. Other than all of that, the blue tooth software runs like a charm. Oh and did I mention that even after you unplug the ear peace the phone still tells you that you are using your head set :-)

80 Worst customer service
I have received after 15 days, even if I am eligible for number portability, T-mobile was unable to port my number. very bad customer service.
81 DO NOT BUY!!!
Hello! I recently purchased this phone directly from T-Mobile and it's awful! My sister has one as well and they in fact, do shut off "automatically". I've had the phone exchanged 4 times, my sister 5 and they have all had that problem. Customer service sucks and they are trying to charge me 300$ if I want a new phone from a different brand. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!
82 DO NOT BUY!!!

83 not so good....
although this phone is quite cool to look at it is huge. not huge as in comparatively with such phones as the T610 (Sony Ericsson) but huge compared to my dad's Buick LeSabre. the phone does not have 65K colours and has a pathetic camera. the camera is not as good as the T610's or even as good as the camera my sister got free in her barbie doll set. a very dissapointing phone. so big and heavy it tore a hole in my jacket. meanwhile ... from nokia similar price and much better is the 7250i (this is the ugly phone by the way) - do yourselves a favour - dont buy the 3650
84 Needs repair twice in three months!
The phone works fine when it is functional; however, the product is very cheapily made and extremely fragile. Moreover, it oftenly turns itself off. Twice in three months, it just would not start again after it "automatically" shuts down. When the phone works, it's a beautiful little gadget, but for half the time I owned it, it was sitting in the repair shop.
85 Its a good product, but....
Hi,I recently purchased this product thru amazon.com. I am using this for the past 3months. Here are my views.

Pros
------
Good features and nice look . Good mobile except for the below mentioned cons.

Cons
---------
1.At frquent intervals ( around every week or 10days once), the instrument gets switched off automatically. So i need to re-boot this every time . I really don't know whats happening, may be becoz of new technology, we may have to buy this product after a year or so , so that we will have a good one with all patches applied :)

2.Bad customer support from amazon.com . i was suppose to get a Nokia PC suite 2003 software CD along with the package. But i did not receive the same. later i contacted amazon quite a few times and the service is very poor and they won't bother for this. Finally I downloaded the s/w from the web.

But , it really a good product. Thanks, Sai-california

86 The best FREE Phone-Entertainment-Internet-Business device!
This phone can be used as a phone, digital camera, voice recorder, digital video recorder, full screen movie viewer, file storage solution, document viewer, travel info companion, foreign language translator, internet access, actual MP3 Music with voice instead of polyphonic ringtones. All of the above is expandable with the MMC cards (my 128MB MMC card holds several video clips, 2-hour movie, music files, my documents & presentations, photos and everything else). All features are easily accessible via menu button & j-stick. Also this phone is equipped with InfraRed and Bluetooth for wireless transfer of data between other devices. Nokia 3650 is based on Symbian Operating System, so there are plenty 3rd party software available for it - anything you could think of.

This phone is not for writing memos! I own this phone for about a year, and I never type on it - there is no need. I hardly ever use the keypad.

99% of people complaining about this phone actually complain about Amazon rebates, bad signal reception by their providers or they don't like the looks of the phone. All of this has nothing to do with the Nokia 3650 phone and it's functionality they are getting for FREE.

There are no other FREE phones that offer the same features!

87 Packed full of features
Owned this phone for 3 months and just love it!...so packed full of features its hard to know where to start. It has a great built in camera (you can add a photo to each contact in your contact list) bluetooth enabled which makes for seamless and fast connections with other devices, and it runs on the symbian OS, which means you can download games, email apps, browsers, and a host of other stuff (my favorite download is the lie detector - which monitors the callers voice to determine if they are lying! sooo cool!) The email application works well, as does Text Messaging, and MMS services. The colour screen is bright and easy to see, and Nokia use a high screen resolution.

Whats the downside?...well its design is very funky. Some love it, some hate it, but from a practical level the round keyboard takes some getting used to. However you soon realise its been well designed to use in one hand with your thumb operating it comfortably. It has a light flimsy feel to it (no doubt all that plastic) although I have dropped mine once onto tarmac and it was fine. The Symbian OS is stable but sometimes a little slow.

88 Good Phone, Awesome Features, innovative design
I had great faith that Nokia will not disappoint and it did not. People have criticized the round dial the large size but I appreciate Nokia for innovating and trying out new designs
The dial is cool and the size is not offending and has a good feel to it when you use the phone.

Size:
Yes the phone is not as small is the flip phones or the T616/T610(will refer to them as T616) but it has a good feel. The phone feels good to hold and use and talk, I used to own a A460 and did not like talking on it.. never felt comfortable with the grip..
If you are living in a place where it snows, you will appreciate the fact that you can feel the phone when you hold it and use it under horrible weather conditions. I used to carry a Palm IIIxe(used primarily for calendar, games and to maintain a To Do List) and a Samsung a460 but now I only need to carry one device which I got for free!

The only phone which i would like to replace this phone is a Handspring Treo but which is of comparable size!

Nokia has a lot of support:
Unlocking this phone is easier than most GSM phones as Nokia phones are well researched and you get all kinds of information on the web.
http://www.angelfire.com/pro/nokia3650/
Nokia uses face plates on almost all phones = If you scratch your screen all you need to do is buy a face plate (Does not cost much) and you can replace the screen yourself (I am not referring to LCD screen only the front panel and battery cover).

Screen:
The screen is very pleasing and you can use any image for the wall paper... you don't have to pay to buy wallpapers most images work fine! You can also click a pic and use it as a wall paper

Camera:
This phone has a better camera than the T616 with better clarity and image quality. Also you can record videos. Though to record long videos you need extra space on the MMC card and additional software. This is a phone plus PDA which also has a camera for a very low cost. The camera is not meant to replace a real camera and is only to click pics for fun and send them across!! So do not expect more.. !!
Though it's only a matter of time before the quality of the camera improves that it will replace your real camera!

PDA:
Most people who want a good calendar app, note a few things down and maintain a To Do list and do not want to maintain two phone list( one on their pda and one on their phone) will love this phone! Though one misses the touch screen on regular PDAs the T9 text input does a good job!
http://www.t9.com/t9_learnhow.html

T616's calendar does not allow you to enter weekly events, from what I have seen you have to enter such events in outlook and then sync! For 3650 the calendar app is complete and satisfying and I sync with Outlook only for backup.

Voice Recorder:
The quality of the recording from the mic is good if the person speaking is close to you even if you are seated on the last bench in the hall the quality is acceptable. The only thing I don't like is that the default recorder cannot record longer than a minute and you need to buy additional software to be able to do that! The same is true for being able to record long videos.
http://www.psiloc.com/?id=prod&nrp=100

Ring Tones:
Ok this is something that much better on the T616 in comparison! The quality is not as great... and the volume cannot be really loud though contrary to other reviews its good enough!

Profiles:
This phone has different profiles which control the various settings for ringers and alerts and you can configure them the way you like but for integrating your calendar with the selection of a profile you will need an additional software package (Some people claim that the newer firmware does not need it, I am not sure about this) Still this is a great feature and one of the reason for using a Java VM and Symbian is so that third party software providers can make software to suit your needs...

Games:
I don't play much but seems people love playing games on this phone....

Battery Life:
Good enough, regular phone use without too much use to IrDA and Bluetooth, you will mostly charge your phone once in two days.

Tzones:
If you have unlimited Tzones then you can go ahead and configure many (don't know the upper limit) IMAP and POP mail accounts and send and receiver mails with attachments easily! Also you can browse the web... haven't done a lot of that.

SMS:
One of the main reasons for shifting to GSM and TMobile is so that I can SMS my friends all over the globe. Most cell phone providers in other countries using GSM will allow sending and receiving SMS from any GSM phone. It's a craze in other countries don't know why only TMobile allows you to SMS and other GSM service providers ( ATT and Cingular) don't allow international SMS.
Any ways this a good reason for shifting to T Mobile

Network Coverage:
Well don't know of the rest of US but works great where I live. Yes Verizon does seem to have a better network but if you will not be traveling much then it does not matter. The quality is clear even when the network seems weak and I have got GPRS coverage too in all places I have tried.

MMC Card:
People have used 512 MB MMC cards with this phone and they seem to work great. What this means is that you can record really long low quality videos and complete seminars! Also encode movies and watch them... Also back up your phone data onto the card if you don't backup to a comp. I think this is an awesome feature to be able to upgrade your memory just like most PDAs. Though people claim that to be able to use 512 MB cards you will require Nokia to do a firmware upgrade on your phone.

Overall, Nokia does a great job at making 3650 a good basic phone but also has tons of goodies to be able to replace a PDA and provide a fun camera!

PS: to lock you keypad click on the right select button and then the * key. Hmm the lack of being able to lock your keypad once you beging a handsfree conversation is by far the only thing I hate.

89 Great features, poor engineering
I have had this phone for 6 months and it's been a great phone, especially when you can get it for free from Amazon! After having used it for so long, I figured I'd write a review for all of you who are pondering over whether to get this phone or not. Here are the pros and cons:

Pros:
- Great color display, large screen!
- Really easy to use interface
- T9 text messaging has never been easier...you can even send pictures to your friends through email
- Very lightweight for it's size
- Camera has a pretty good resolution in comparison to other camera phones, easy to use
- Gets good comments from people everywhere I go!
- You can save multiple numbers in your contact list instead of just a few numbers for each person
- Snake is taken to a whole new level...
- 16 mb memory card can be used to download pictures onto your computer!
- Fast battery recharging time, only 20 minutes and it's done
- Reception is pretty good, compared to the other Samsung phones I used to own

Ok now for the cons...
- Sometimes, the phone will turn off for no reason. Lately it's been doing this quite a bit.
- The ringtones could be louder
- Slow to respond - I'll press a button and it will take awhile before the screen loads up
- Fragile: I dropped it on the floor and it broke apart
- You MUST put it on keyguard all the time because the buttons are too sensitive
- Speaker phone is not loud enough

I have no complaints about the keypad, because I eventually got used to using it and Nokia is making another version of this phone except with a traditional horizontal keypad. I would recommend this phone to people who would use the camera feature (I do, it's VERY handy) and for those who are careful with their phones, since this one is rather fragile and can't take much abuse. Overall, a good nokia phone :)

90 Love it
I purchased this cel phone a few months ago because several co-workers had it and loved it. It is a great little phone. I work for an airline and I have been able to take it with me to the UK and can keep contact with my family with no problems. The pictures turn out really well (not as good as a digital camera) but people are always impressed when I email a photo I have taken from the phone. I have had no problems with the body of the phone or with reception. It gets better reception than any phone I have had. Plus, it's free! I received my 2 $150 rebate checks in no time at all. Highly reccommended & I'm about to buy one for my mother for christmas.
91 TOO bulky
The pictures clicked is are not great, poor color, poor enginnering of the phone(the back lid of the phone always keep shaking). And I hear echo while talking on the phone i dont know whether its because the service I have(T-Mobile) or because of the phone. I do not recomment others to buy this phone.
92 Cheap looking
This phone has great functionality but unless you are a 12 year old and don't mind being embarrassed by taking this phone out of your pocket then buy it. The first thing I thought when I saw it was that my TV remote is smaller, which is true. The second thing I thought was how it looks nothing like the picture. I was expecting a nice, sturdy case but what I got was cheap looking, tacky plastic. Buy another Nokia instead, I sent mine back and exchanged it for the new Ericsson.
93 Only One complaint
I really like the new phone. It took a lil getting used to , with the circular key pad. The service on T-Mobile is great, much better service than my old AT&T. (I'm in DC!) THe only thing is that often the ringer is too soft and u can't hear it ring when ur in another room, or in a noisy environment. Other than that. The gadgets are definitely cool and everyone oohs and ahhs over the cool new phone!
94 Don't get T-Mobile
Do not use T-Mobile for any reason, ever. I'm a 33 year old male who has never experienced a more disorganized, immature, confused company in my life. I bought 2 phones, they activated 4 and during activation somehow managed to give me a phone number that was long distance for anyone to call (about 80 miles south of me in California). When I brought this to their attention they made my phone number further away in the other direction (250 miles north near Washington). I've spent 2 months arguing that I've never had 4 phones. During my last conversation they wanted $400 in disconnection fees for the 2 lines that they disconnected (and I never had)!!!

The phone itself has a lot of cool features, but it somehow magically disconnects from customer service if you ask for a T-Mobile respresentative's badge number. The T-Mobile customer service is the absolute worst and just so you know there is no coverage at all in South Dakota - even though everyone else's cell phone works on roam. I strongly recommend finding an alternative provider before looking at any additional phones.

95 Finally.
Well, I ordered this phone in August and promised myself I wouldn't write a review until I got all of my rebates in! And now, over three months later, I can write a review of my lovely free phone.

This was my first cell phone and I'm very happy with it. However, in addition to the long rebate wait, my first phone did die on me with the blinking Nokia logo and all of that. But Amazon express shipped a new phone right away, no questions asked. I've been fine since then.

There's not much to be said that others haven't covered. If you're a Mac user, this phone works very well with iSync, and iCal (I no longer carry a planner, it's all on the phone) and there are programs available that can make the phone act as a remote for your Mac (very nice for playing iTunes). The camera is fine, there are some amusing games available (including a Gameboy emulator), and you can read ebooks on it. This is one of my favorite pastimes--the program I use allows you to view the text lengthwise on the screen and it's surprisingly easy on the eyes. The screen on this computer is very, very nice. Quite sharp.

I use a third-party PDF viewer to display bus schedules from the mbta on the phone, which is extremely convenient. I use AvantGo for news, etc.

It's not that big at all--this was my one big concern before ordering from Amazon, so I went and checked one out at the local cellphone store (Salesman: "Those are nice phones; they cost $300, though." Me: "Wow, that's so expensive!") and was pleasantly surprised by how small it is. Okay, so it's not one of those miniscule flip-things, but the screen is much better.

The 610 does look nice, and was not available for free when I ordered the 3650--I can understand people wanting one of those instead so you might want to compare and see which suits you best. But, for what it's worth, I like my 3650 very much.

96 Never liked Nokia until I bought the 3650
Well I was dying to get a camera phone and I still want the Samsung E105. It costs like $250 after all of the rebates and it seems to be an outstanding phone. It's new from Samsung that just came out about a month ago. You cannot buy it from those crazy mall employees, they don't even know it even exists. The Nokia 3650 however is not a bad phone. The size takes about a week or 2 to get used to. I liked being able to flip my old cell phone. I am afraid of scratching the face of the Nokia 3650, maybe rubbing up against something. I have not dropped my phone yet but I used to drop my Samsung S105 all the time and it just got scratched all over. Poor phone. I would recommend this phone to just about anybody who does not mind the size. Oh by the way the speaker phone is AWESOME!! Let's see if Samsung can come up with a speakerphone. Has features that other phones don't even offer and I will not even mention them so you can be surprised yourselves. Go buy one and give it a try.
97 Pretty good phone
Keypad is no biggie, you quickly get used to it -- and the layout is great as a thumboard for typing messages and such. RF is great, and there are lots of add-on applications for the Symbian operating system making this phone a great little tool. I do wish the phone were a bit smaller, but it's not a major issue.

Regarding the rebates, maybe folks aren't reading the directions right or something? I got my rebates quite promptly.

98 My little Celebrity
I was worried about the reviews of this phone being too large or the buttons being hard to use, but I have had my phone for roughly two months and I absolutely love it - not to mention the fact that it was a major star of last week's Alias episode (oh so cool!) This is a great phone and I highly recommend it.
99 What More do you want out of a phone
This has practically the best features available + it's free. Amazon gives you great offers, the key is how sharp are you to be able to use it.
100 I'm lovin it !!
very good phone for the price you pay. That is $0. Every thing is excellent. no problems. people say it is big but i think u gotta hold your phone properly in your hand to feel it.
Just go for it. This phone will redefine the next generations of mobile phones people will be using.
