Nokia 6610 Phone (T-Mobile)

Compras Nikon
Bluetooth
the Nokia 6610 combines the "classic" Nokia look with a bright color screen, wireless data capabilities, a speakerphone, and integrated FM radio, and more.

Design
The 6610 is designed to be easy to use, with large buttons and a generous 128 x 128 with support for 4096 colors. A large power button dominates the top of the phone, while a 2.5mm headphone jack and charging input are placed on the bottom edge. In addition to an infrared data port, there's also an input for Nokia's proprietary "Pop-Port," which is designed for Nokia accessories and USB data connectivity. A four-way control key controls most of the phone's functions and menus. And finally, the 6610 uses an internal antenna -- nothing to snag or break off.

Calling Features
The 6610's phone book can hold up to 300 contacts, with multiple numbers and text entries per contact. And because the phone runs on tri-band service (GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz) you can make calls from anywhere in the world. Meanwhile, an integrated speakerphone makes talking in any hands-free environment that much easier. You can jazz up your incoming calls with one of 20 polyphonic ringtones, and there's also a vibrate mode for those times when you want to keep things discreet.

Messaging, Internet and Tools
The 6610 features robust messaging and mobile internet functions. Traditional text messaging, as well as picture and sound messaging (MMS) are supported by the phone, as is mobile web browsing via a carrier-supported GPRS data connection. In addition to email connectivity, this lets you check the Web for sports, weather, stock updates, and whatever else you might want. T9 text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit-- a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.

A number of handy software tools are bundled with the 6610 including a to-do list, a calculator, a calendar, and an alarm clock. You can easily sync up your contacts, calendars and other data with your PC using Nokia's PC Suite software, either wirelessly via infrared beam, or with a USB cable.

Imaging and Entertainment
While the 6610 comes with the standard custom screensaver and wallpaper features, there's also something extra: a built-in FM radio (stereo headset required and sold separately), which allows you to listen to your favorite stations on the go. The phone also comes with a few preloaded Java applications, including Converter II, Portfolio II, a Chess Puzzle, and a game called "Bounce."

Vital Statistics
The Nokia 6610 measures 4.17 x 1.77 x 0.69 inches and weighs 2.96 ounces. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 3.5 hours of digital talk time, and up to 225 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the 900/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.

What's in the Box
6610 handset, standard slim lithium-ion battery, travel charger, user's manual.

1 Great phone, slightly difficult keypad, infrared didnt work
I got this one year ago with T-mobile service. Here is what I think:

1. Battery life: excellent. Do not remember how much I talked without recharging, but easily more than 3 hours.

2. Reception: Excellent. But call volume could be better. Sony Ericsson and older models of nokia have better reception. Did not drop calls though.

3. Keypad: Takes some time to get used to, especially if you are pressing keys through a leather case.

3. Other features: Speakerphone is awesome, so is the calendar and the clock. Also has some other features like a calculator and stop clock which can come in handy. INFRA RED DID NOT WORK FOR ME. I did not try calling nokia about it.

Overall, a great phone for making calls.
2 Redefining "Value For Money"
I Picked this phone up for my dad. It felt sleek. What hit me about the phone was the extreme ease of use. It offers radio, about 120 message storage capacity, polyphonic ringtones, upgradeable camera, etc.

Now you'd wonder why you should purchase this phone.I'll list a few key features-

1.It has a four day battery life. Now to me that is the best a Nokia can give.It works like a faithful horse for those on the run. Its a typical office man's phone
2.The looks are sleak yet not imposing. Its sturdy in its own way. The keypad is good. However it takes a bit time to get used to it.
3.The radio signal is as crisp as can be. The radio can be played on the loudspeaker. Now the volume of the loudspeaker exceeds any NOKIA has to offer. At 40% volume, the radio can be heard as loud as you could possibly want it to be.
4.I've used all Nokia phones and till today I havent come accross a Nokia with a better earphone speaker. Its quite loud yet not screaming in your ear.
5.The Phone lacks better memory. It can containt quite a few SMS'es but the newer Nokia Phones offer expandable MMC slots. You can't store many MMS pics on this.
6.The brightness on the phone is quite good. It works as a mini torch in the dark room. The pre-fixed wallpapers are good. The dictionary function on the phone and font that is used while using text messaging are quite good.
7.The phone is fast to the delight of the users. There's no waiting here as the start up time is low.

A thing I disliked about this phone is the battery cover. It took me an hour to figure out the easiest way of opening the lid. Now I consider myself good with phones but it does take a while to get the hang of it.It offers no camera for pictures or videos. But then its been a while since this phone was launched.

I think this is the best phone your odd $120 can buy.Believe me when I say this its a steal at that price.
It has great signal catching ability and has a lot of features and overall delivers what it promises.
3 Poor Quality Phone
I'm on my 3rd 6610 now. T-Mobile keeps shipping me new ones because the first two shut off randomly during operation. The reception quality is awful, people say they cannot understand me. I often cannot understand them either, and there are breaks of dead air during phone calls. Key presses into automated systems are often not registered; when I call back the problem is sometimes resolved. I live in a major metropolitan area, so perhaps these issues are not as bad elsewhere. The keys are hard to press and so is the power button. I use an earpiece because holding the phone to my head causes a strange pain.
4 This is a HIGH-END phone!
The phone is awesome! It is small, durable, easy to use, and full of features. It has excellent battery life and it charges quickly. Now let me talk about the features:

- INFRARED PORT

I bought an IRDA port for my computer for about $20 to connect my phone with the computer. Through this connection I synchronize with MS Outlook to transfer contacts and calendar entries. I also transfer image files for the display backgrounds, midi ringtones, and Java applications and games.

- MIDI RINGTONES

The phone comes with all of the necessary software to convort/compose midi files for ringtones (Software could also be downloaded from Nokia's website). This ways I can convert regular midi files and transfer them to my phone for ringtones without having to pay my provider for it.

- JAVA SUPPORT

There are so many little applications and utilities and a lot of games available on the internet, which can be installed on your phone. You can turn your phone into a little PDA. Performance and storage are very good. Also the phone comes with a couple of applications and games. If you are a programmer you can write your own software for your phone.

- RADIO

You can listen to mono FM radio with the supplied handsfree device or get the optional stereo headphones, which have a digital camera on them.

- MULTI-BAND GSM

You can use this bad boy on any GSM network in the world!

- INTERNET ACCESS

This really depends on what your provider and your plan, but it is available.

Overall this phone is not for people, who are simply looking for a phone and don't plan on using all the extra features. But if you plan on using them it is a great phone!
5 It has served me well...
I've owned the 6610 for over a year and three months now; got it for free on Amazon. The one suggestion I have is that if you experience any problems with your 6610 at all, call T-Mobile Customer Service BEFORE your contract expires. They will replace your phone for FREE.

I love how small this phone is... it's become a part of my life. It fits perfectly in that small right jean pocket, which is a huge plus (i've never had a use for that pocket before).

Sound clarity has never been great - a small phone = a small antenna - but now it's starting to drop calls after several minutes into a call, probably because I've dropped it so many times. Features are mostly outdated by the latest gizmos and gadgets, but if used simply as a cell phone, this is definitely a phone you can live with.
6 About the service...
Excellent phone...I love it so far after 1+ years. Yesterday, I happened to call 911 and got the message "your call cannot be completed as dialed". It took several tries before I actually got through. Now, luckily I was not in a life or death situation...but this certainly is not acceptable. I gave this the lowest rating so people would notice it.
7 5 stars
Ir port, bluetooth, speakerphone, compact & one of the best batt. life I have yet too see
8 There are other better free cell phones out there.
I will keep this simple.
The good thing about this phone:
1) Compact size. You wouldn't have any problem putting this inside your jean pocket. It won't get in the way when you sit down. It will fit most vehicle cell phone holder.

2) Long battery life for both standby and talking time. You can let it standby for a whole week without charging. The battery charge up fast too.

3) Simple navagation. The navagation is pretty straight forward. (I never like the way how Siemens and SonyEricsson cell phone navagate.)

4) Ringer and receiver is loud enough. Ringer and vibration alert start together when calls come in. (In some other phone like Sumsung, when calls come in, it usually vibrate first then ring and then vibrate again, but not both togther. Some phones even doesn't allow both to be turn on together, it's either vibrate or ring)

5) Quite durable in a way. I dropped the phone a few times on hard concrete floor and it still working. BUT, everytime it drops and hit the ground, it will break lose into a few pieces. The front shell, back plate, battery, and the core will seperate every time it drops. It usually won't hurt the phone but you have to put it back yourself everytime.

6) Keypad layout is clear and simple. Easy to recognize and remember.

7) As in all Nokia phones, this also have a fast and simple user profile choosing features. You can preset several differnt profiles so that you can switch it fast in differnt ocassion. Like setting vibration call alert only for meeting or special ocassion. Or extremely loud ringer alert for home usage.

And here comes problem for this phone:
1) The color screen is useless under the Sun. You have to actually cover it or go to darker place to be able to see the screen clearly.

2) The operating systems (OS) and the keypad response is way too slow. This tend to be a problem for all Nokia phone ever since they start making all the phone with color LSD screen. The OS and keypad respond in Nokia phone used to be fast and responsive when all their phones were still using black and white LCD screen. A lot of times it either delay a couple seconds after you press a key or simply not responding at all. The screen refresh rate is also too slow. Using this phone while driving is extremely dangerous because of the slow respond time.

3) The phone comes with many built-in applications, however also because of the slow OS, it takes forever to load those applications. That's why I don't bother to use them at all.

4) The infrad port function for this phone is very limited. It's good for transfering simple data like phones, contacts, names, address with other phones or with a PC. But if you try to download ring-tone or photo to the phone from PC, forget it! Nokia seem to have some sort of blocker or protector setup in the infrad port. Seems like they want you to buy the factory data transfer cable if you want to do that sort of thing.

All in all this is not a fancy phone so don't expect it to do much other than simply call making and reciving.
I would not recommend this phone to anybody.
Cause if you want a simple cell phone just for calling and reciving phone calls, go get those 3000 series Nokia phones that doesn't have color LCD or internet function. Those will fit you better with the faster respond OS.
And if you want a fancy phone, this is certainly not what you should look for at all. Go get yourself a Samsung cell phone.
9 Superb!
After 9 months of usage I can say:

Pluses:
- relatively small, durable phone, proven Nokia menus - super easy to learn; simple , clean slick design with no silly antenas, customizable faceplates and keypads.
- comparing to my friends Samsungs - battery life is outstanding!
light talk; 5-7 days
heavy talk; 3 days between charges
- good signal everywhere in NYC on T-Mobile
- excellent speakerphone
- FM radio , you have to use headpiece for it to work.
- infra port, and ability to do all of sorts of PC synchs with computer (although useless for me since I'm a Mac user - Nokia PC Suite is for windows only - yet I figured out to download pictures and ring-tones from my server thru WAP, but no luck with games and java apps)
- single button access to net - just press '0' for a sec. - no 'double confirm' navigating like others complained - just press the green 'call' button, instead of 'menu' one!
- cheap; got it for free with Amazon

Minuses:
- the screen backlight goes out too quickly - there's no way to adjust it.
- (...)) from T-Mobile lock this phone, even though its 3-band GSM phone I couldn't use it in Europe on generic SIM cards.
- Nokia supplied headpiece has a tiny button on it that cancels the convo, so by adjusting the head piece I found myself ending the call quite often (the only time I experienced dropped calls -;)
- only 4-chord polyphonic ringtones - no fancy music-like songs to d/load
- locking and unlocking keypad is annoying to me - I think I'm a clamshell phone person

Overall, imo, this is very good phone - does what basic cell phone should do.
10 Very satisfied with this phone
I'm going to keep this short.

I've enjoyed this phone. The speakerphone is very good. It's pretty loud. Listening through the earpiece (i.e. - using the phone as normal) can be a little low in volume. Depends on how loud your surroundings are, but I usually don't have a hard time hearing. The weight of the phone is nice and light and the size is small. Reception is great. The menu layout is classic Nokia, which makes it very easy. The standby time of the batter never lasts as long as the instructions will say it does. The supposed standby time for this battery and phone is 12 days. It will maybe last 6 days. Kind of hard to monitor that, though, because you always wind up talking on your phone some time in those days. Still doesn't seem to last as long as they say, though. Everything else is good. Like the external volume control. Don't like that T-Mobile has locked down some of the menu options, though, and don't want to have the software upgraded. Still allows me to use it the way I'd like to, for the most part. Infrared is a joke. I use bluetooth with my 3650. Wish this phone has bluetooth as well. I really enjoy the easy access calendar as well. Very helpful. Overall I'm very satisfied with this phone.

11 Nokia almost hits a home run
I've had mine for almost a year and it is a nice little phone. It's tough too, I've dropped it several times with no problems. In my humble opinion these features make this a very good phone:

-Speakerphone.
-No annoying antenna protruding.
-Compact, simple, and lightweight (very nice if you prefer to put your phone in your pocket)
-Integrated Radio.
-All the other standard Nokia features I've grown to love.

I'd give it 5 stars if only it had bluetooth and voice recognition dialing.

12 mixed
This product is excellent but unfortuantely i am having a defective piece and amazon doesnt have any more in stock for replacemnt and I want to settle only for 6610.
13 Nokia 6610
The phone was very good except it is "locked" phone and you have to pay fee if you bring it oversea. Unlike sony ericsson it is unlock and you can bring it anywhere on earth. Just purchase the sim card and you are ready to go. Overall, this phone is good but if you plan to travel oversea then I don't suggest you to buy any Nokia phones at all since most of them are locked phone and you have to pay to unlock which is sucked.
14 nice phone
Nice phone, but you probably won't get the big rebate from this place because they will lose it. They have already lost 2 such rebates.

The phone is good with good reception. The screen is clear and everything works.

Recommended!

15 okay phone
well i was so excited when i bouth the phone. it had great color, althought there is not a big selection of color schemes. the plastic face of the phone scratches really easly you would think if you have a phone with an open sceen you would have scratch resistant screen right? also the ear piece volume is not that loud as im use too with my old nokia and samsung phones. the phone was also expensive for me it was 200.00 that is because i have not had their service for a year yet. any ways over all it is a good phone love the reception i do recomend
16 Good Phone
Suffered none of the bad things everyone else has in their reviews. Reliable, and does what it's supposed to do; be a phone. Great customer service at T-mobile also, but sometimes has a creepy "Stepford Wives" feel to the experience. If the phone is ever restocked, get one. Good reception in Vegas too.
17 Love it despite inferior sound quality
The tiny size, great battery life, ease of use and quality speakerphone make this the best cell phone I've had so far. The sound quality isn't as good as Motorola--there's a slight hiss in the background, but it's not annoying enough to prevent me from recommending the phone.
18 Awesome phone
I got no problem with this phone. After 10 months of used I experienced a horizontal line is appearing and disappearing on the screen.T mobile replaces me with new phone. The only thing in this phone that I dont like is the power on/off swith which is sometimes diificult to turn off/on especially if you got big finger tip.
19 good phone
Good phone. I always stick to Nokias, esp since my Motorola messed up on me once, and when they gave me another Motorola, it messed up again in the same exact way (buttons wouldn't work). It's light and small, and the rings are cool. Pretty color screen. I've had it for about 4 months so far and nothing has messed up. Only concern is cheap and light casing.
20 The WORST Customer Srvice: PHONES are not available!
This is RIDICULOUS!
I have ordered 2 cell phones (NOKIA 6610) on Monday May 17th and the expected delivery was Wednesday May 19th!
On Thursday May 20th I called Customer Service and I was told that for a "technicality" the order was cancelled!
The customer Support Representative (Josh) assured me that he re-order the phones and they will be delivered on Monday May 24th.
NOTE: after I called Amazon Customer support again and a Customer Support Representative said that the "technicality" was that the phones were NOT IN STOCK!
Today (Friday May 21st) I have called again Customer Support, because in my account I DID NOT SEE any order!
This time, the Customer Support Representative (Erik) said that my order could not be delivered before than 3-4 weeks (or a lot more) and that the best thing to do for me is to go to a T-Mobile store and purchase the phone!!!
R I D I C U L O U S!
This is the worst Customer Service I have encountered!
Lies and excuses do not make the customer happy: I would rather have someone tell me the truth since the beginning, without me, calling so many times and talking to incompetent and "with an attitude" people!

I am very, very unhappy about all of this... I WILL NEVER BUY ANYTHING ELSE FROM AMAZON AND I WILL MAKE SURE THAT ALL THE PEOPLE I KNOW WILL NEVER BUY AGAIN FROM THEM!

21 Excellent phone!
This Nokia phone is having very good signal reception. I checked with carrying Samsung phone(Sprint) and Nokia(TMobile). Inside the shopping malls I do have good signal strength for Nokia but not for the Samsung phone(zero). Also Nokia phone is more user friendly. You can change the cover once in a while and have the brand new look.
22 What?!
Get used to saying this often, after purchasing the 6610.

This phone is awesome, except that you can't hear people too clearly & they can't comprehend you all that well. You will find yourself asking them to repeat words, and they will think you said "Duh!" when you were simply saying "AND". Seriously, I thinkthis phone is why Sprint made those series of commercials where people mis-understood the other cell phone user. It sounds like dial-up streaming media :(

23 PERFECT!!
GREAT PHONE THAT OFFERS EXCELLENT PREFORMANCE AND FEATURES AT A VERY REASONABLE PRICE.THE ONLY ANNOYANCE IS THE LACK OF "NORMAL" RING TONES, OTHERWISE A GREAT PHONE.
24 great phone
i think this phone has everything a teen my age needs
its not hard to use and is very handy the fact that you can change your ringtones and your screensaver is great and when ever your bored or you have to do is go to games and play them.
25 Good phone
This phone is small and light weighted. The phone book is easy access. I've been getting some good and bad reviews with regard to the sound quality and the reception. Well, the most I can do to help is, so far, I've been getting pretty good reptions in San Mateo, So SF, Paolo Alto area, etc... The alarm clock is a nice feature to have. I expected more for the picture quality. In my opinion, sony erricson T610 has better quality. Most of the wallpapers are not that pretty. Like many other viewers, the volume control is Hard to press. The Power button is too, but if I dont always turn it on and off, so that is ok with me. Overall, I am happy with this new phone even tho the picture quality wasnt as good as I expected.
26 Good little phone and painless ordering
Ordered the 6610 on Amazon with the 19.99 T-Mo plan and the free shipping option. There's a rebate that gives me back the price of the phone plus $25 more--will see if I get it and report back later). The est. shipping was 6-9 days. My phone was actually shipped via Fedex Express Saver, and arrived in just 2 days (Better than expected for any free shipping!!)

Phone came ready to go with a T-Mo phone #. I now have to port my old cell # to this phone (by calling T-Mo).

Minor issue is that I think my month access fee with T-Mo starts when I ordered the phone, not when I first turned it on. That means I pay even while the phone was in shipping. (I also ordered ~9 days early since the site said it would take that long to ship during the ordering, which means 1/3 of the monthly access fee was wasted--that's why I chose the cheapest plan).

As for the phone, it's nice for someone who just wants to talk with it. Size is small and radio is nice. The calculator and unit conversion programs may come in handy someday. Only draw back is it uses non-2.5mm headphone, but a nokia type headphone is included. My reception with T-Mo is sub-par at home in W. Natick, but Cingular didn't have good reception either.

27 A nice little phone with professional features
I zeroed on this phone looking for a low-cost GSM Tri-band(incldg 900) phone which is light-weight, has speakerphone and all reasonably modern features, I didn't need a camera.
This one is possibly the lightest, has good reception & sound quality, good speakerphone,IR transfers worked good. Even the radio sound was very good.Battery life is excellent.
Doesn't have voice-dialling,blue-tooth.
Overall I found it pretty good for professional use. It does very well what it is supposed to do.
28 Ringtone tip
http://www.mididb.com/
Its a moderate quality phone. It is very light and attractive. It has subpar voice quality and no voice dialing. So if you'd be interested in intense using, then stay clear. For moderate use, its really the best, because of its portability, and yes, extra extra long battery life. Beats every other phone in the market.

I gave it 3 stars, because I expected a lot more from Nokia in terms of voice quality. NOKIA (old gold 3390 is best in voice quality available for pennies on ebay) is the leader in cell phone industry. Motorola is a close second. Followed by Samsung, and others.

BTW, someone from muwap is advertising its website, but I recommend go to
http://www.mididb.com/
Its free! You can download hundreds of midi files which you should be able to use with this phone. Only challenge is copying it to your phone. (Try data cable or DataPilot. It offers many other benefits.)
Also, don't forget to google on midifiles for several other english language and regional (hindi) language midi files usable as ringtones, widely available on the WWW.

Quick TIP: If you need better voice quality, then consider other NOKIA models or since T-MOBILE does not carry the other better NOKIA's, consider Motorola V300 (5 star model available from T-Mobile)

Browsing the web feature is pretty handy on this cell phone, but you need to subscribe first with t-mobile for 4.99. (not bad I think)

29 I love this phone!
This is the best phone I have ever owned. It is small, lightweight, and has many options. The only downside is that there are no covers for the phone which cover the screen, leaving it vulnerable to scratches. Otherwise, it is all good!
30 Simply OK
I've had the phone for the last six months, lost it last week and won't be ordering another one.

While it's better than any Motorola, which of course is not saying much, I found frequently that the keys would depress without necessarily registering a number. This forced me to look at the screen everytime I dialed to ensure a call.

In addition, I found reception to be somewhat subpar, and there were several dead zones where the phone could not operate at all. Prior phones would suffer from poor signal strength in some of these zones but rarely dropped the call.

Finally, the phone would freeze on me from time to time, and if it was on while I was in a deadzone (elevator, subway etc.) I frequently had to turn it off and then on to get it to register.

31 Great Little Phone
I have T-Mobile Service and Got this phone to use at work since they banned Camera Phones (Have the V300 Camera phone and love it too, still waiting for the unlock codes) The first thing I did when I got the phone is get it unlocked so when I go overseas I don't have to pay International roaming. Reception and Voice Quality are great. Size is also good as I prefer smaller phones. I would recommend this phone to anyone. Just know that the screen can be hard to see in bright sunlight.
32 good phone
Do not shop at ustronics.com, I got this phone first from ustronics.com, but they false advertise saying its new, but I found out my phone was used, had scratches all over and when I went to go return, they want to charge me shipping and a 15% restocking fee. They false advertise and very very rude customer service and they sell refurbished goods. I bought the same phone again new from ATT and sold the old one to my bro. So if anyone buying from ustronics, becareful cause they will rip you off big time. I made complaints to BBB so if you go through this I suggest you do the same.
33 Good if you have small fingers
Very Small and light. Probably the best phone for the size.
Also, syncs with Outlook, Palm or Lotus Notes. Huge plus for me. Free syncing software on Nokia's web site you can download.
However, small screen and small keys make it a little difficult to use sometimes. Easy Nokia navigation and design make up for the small size.
T-mobile has "decent" coverage if you live in an urban area, just don't plan on leaving major metro area or you are out of luck for coverage.
34 Nokia 6610 a nice suprise
I've had this phone from Amazon.com for more than 5 months now and it is the best Nokia I've ever owned! Long lating battery, great looks, super convenient size and crystal clear sound quality on Tmobile network. Back then, I got the phone for free, but now you can get a $100 back for ordering this w/the service! Great deal. Jump on it. Plus, the hands free speaker phone is a great plus for those who can't drive & chat legally anylonger. Phone includes great games, a headset radio, and of course, great graphics and contacts listings.
35 Value for money
The product is of really good quality as can be expected from Nokia in the realm of cell phones.
Real easy to carry around as it is sleek and compact.
User Interface is good.
Signal Reception is excellent.
Only snag I found is that the battery charge indicator is not entirely accurate but again my piece might be an exception. But still it easily holds good for 2h talktime as is claimed.
Also, it does not have too many good ring tones.

As regards service provider, I find the coverage of T-Mobile inadequate when compared to Sprint. So keep in mind the service provider and the coverage you require when you buy the mobile.

36 A nice phone with poor sound quality
The phone has some good features and is very nice to play with. But unfortunately, the sound is not good. I had the same experience as the customer who posted on 7/29/03. When making calls, there's this hissing sound at the background, very disturbing. Same problem with the speaker. Also, I had to adjust the volumn to the loudest in order to hear it at a normal level.
Not sure why so many people give it five stars. Maybe I'm just unlucky to get a bad phone. I've returned it.
37 Not recommended
For me, this phone was a loser. The reception was terrible; it was always very difficult to hear. Turning it on or off was practically impossible. I had to jam my thumbnail into a little slot, hard, for a prolonged period of time. The menus were a hassle - required much more navigation than other phones I had. The only good part was the battery. I'm not sure how my experience differed so much from other users, but I was so glad when I happened to lose this phone that I didn't mind paying for another one.
38 Completely met my expectations
After going through a whole lot of reviews on multiple sites, I finally decided to stick with the Nokia 6610 (as compared to the Sony Ericson T610) I have owned an ericson and a motorola before, but have been a very happy Nokia user till date.
All I needed in my phone was it to be a GOOD cell phone. I wasn't interested in a camera or mp3 player, bluetooth, etc, and having had this phone for over a month now, I can say that I made the right choice. Excellent voice quality, no hanged calls with either the instrument or with T-mobile, with excellent coverage in NYC area.
All in all, I'm one satisfied user.
39 Great phone - poor sound quality. My wife loves it, I don't
A few good things I like about this phone are:

- It looks great.
- It's very light and tiny. Good for most people.
- It has all the latest features except for the camera. E.g web, java games, java applications, infra red, etc. No bluetooth though.
-Great battery life. Better than ... . Infact the best I have experienced so far. It has lasted with moderate amount of talk for 5 days. My other Motorola v300 (which is awesome phone by the way), lasts about 3 days with same amount of talk.

I liked everything about this phone but its sound quality. I am very very disappointed by the sound quality of this phone. Its awful. (that's why it gets only 3 out of 5 stars)

I have had this phone for a couple of weeks now. I had 3390 before this, and have also tried a couple of Samsungs.

It's really light weight and small. Which is good for most people, but people with large hands beware. Stay clear of this phone.

The phone book is great. It lets you search by allowing you to type multiple letters. (very rare feature I believe). It lets you copy all your contacts, which served me well to transfer all contacts at once from my old SIM card to new. Do this before you disconnect your old service!

If money is no object, and you like flip-ups, and don't care about profiles, then try the Sam - E315 . It is better overall. And, of course v300 is the best.
40 great phone!
I love the battery life of this phone and the sound quality is great. The only down side is that the menu is a bit disorganized. It is hard to navigate/remember where some of the things are (calculator, etc).
41 Subpar Phone
I received this phone today and am very disappointed with its features. The flaws of this phone include:

1) The screen goes dark in a matter of 20 seconds. As far as I can tell, this setting cannot be changed. This makes it impossible to even view the time on the phone without unlocking it. As a battery saving feature it is useful, but I would like to be able to disable it.

2) The color screen, as many have noted, is of poor quality. It only has 4,000-some colors, instead of 65,000 that many phones have.

3) I find the tones it makes when operating the phone to be annoying (that's just my opinion). You can turn them off, but I'd rather have ones on that are not annoying.

4) The lack of a flip mechanism on this phone is more of a nuisance than I would have thought.

5) The speaker is on the right side of the phone, so you would have to hold the phone on the side in order to get the sound to come out evenly between the two ears.

6) The phone's menus are not customizable, like they are on most Motorola phones.

I think Motorola users who switch to this phone will have annoyances with some of the same things that I did. This phone has some positive features which other reviews will tell you about, but I'm too annoyed with the negatives to recommend this phone to anyone.

42 Sound quality ruins everything this phone has to offer
I purchased this phone 5 days ago. I was always loyal to Nokia phones. For the past 6 years all but 1 phone I've owned were Nokia. However I was disappointed with the sound quality of Nokia 6610. My 8390 that I used with ATT (GSM) had better sound quality, and that phone was almost 2 years old with thousands of minutes on it. I average about 900 calls a month.

This phone has terrible noise in the background similar to what other reviewers on Amazon described. Almost high pitch, "robotic", static noise that comes with certain words. Nokia volume is usually pretty good, but on this phone no matter how high you turn it up it doesn't seem to be loud. The speakerphone volume isn't the greatest neither.

Everything else about the phone is fantastic. I've never seen Nokia put so many cool things in their phones, but bottom line for me this phone didn't work out. I returned the phone for Samsung E105. Yes, E105 lacks all the options and style of Nokia, but Sound quality is superior compare to 6610. The only reason I am giving it 3 stars is because of the features of this phone, otherwise it would be 1 star. If you can deal with hissing and all other noises then you will love it. If you are like me and every little noise annoys you then stay away from this phone.

43 Good enough 4 talking and messaging, expensive though.
The best thing I like on this phone is the keypad. It's very comfortable for SMS addict. With its built in infra red, we can compose and send SMS from computer. The software in the bundled also very helpful to manage the phone book, SMS message (inbox/sent/archieve etc), load wallpaper and ringtone to the phone (but too bad the phone only support 4 channel out of 24 poliphonic sound). One thing I don't like about this phone is the alarm feature. We cannot select one of the ringtone to be alarm sound. We can only depend on the beep which volume is already set incrementally. But I like the snooze of the alarm. Battery life is good enough. The FM radio is good, but need to bring the earphone everywhere. I would give 5 stars if this phone have bluetooth. About the price, I believe Siemens can release phone with same features with cheaper price. But Siemens phone is not really tough compare to Nokia.
44 The BEST phone and GREAT reception
The best phone i've ever used. Friendly and intuitive navigation of menus. Speakerphone is crystal clear. Good reception for radio - I hardly use it. Ofcourse, the lightest/sleekest phone in the market. I liked the ring tones that came with the phone. Little different but not annoying. Very bright screen.

Great reception. I've T-Mobile as my carrier, i was little hesitant to switch from Sprint, BUT... it is a good decision - I feel. T-Mobile coverage is EXCELLENT and i could recieve my calls at work also - my old sprint phone was a toy at work. Well, now my old phone is a toy for my year old kid anyway.

I compared the signal strength with other phones - sony ericsson, samsung - this phone has the best. I was using the phone for the past couple of months. NOT even one dropped call.

I would highly recommend this phone and T-Mobile

UPDATE after one year of Use
My Kid has left the phone in a glass of water OVERNITE. I took the phone out of water with the screen filled with water and dripping from the screen. Dried it for an hour and blew some hot air from hair dryer for 5 min. and switched on. It works......
One of the lights that lit when the phone is in use is gone... this doesn't hinder the use of ph in any way.
Other day my kid has dropped in snow... same above technique used...worked....
Another water dive for the ph. but this time just a couple of minutes... Still works GREAT.....
THE BEST PH
45 Phone with Problems
I've bought this phone on abuot 45 days back. after a month of usage it just powered down and would not start. I called amazon and they sent me a replacement on the 14th of January. The new one died on my again.
46 Good user friendly phone
Nokia makes one of the best phones. My first phone was a Nokia and then an Alcatel (which was good too), then I had a Ericsson which was by far the worst phone I've ever seen. The Nokia 6610 is a bit expensive [$] if you get it from T-Mobile but cheaper if you get it from Amazon. The phone is very user friendly. Has easy navigation and great synching with laptop through infra-red. Not that many face plates available right now in USA but soon I hope. The radio feature is quite good too and the battery lasts quite a bit longer than my sad T-28 Ericsson. Don't go for the flip phones, their screens just stop working after a while. This one is robust. My daughter even eats it sometimes and it keeps working. It so light I don't even notice I have it sometimes and it looks really smart. I would highly recommend this or the Sony Ericsson T610.
47 Light and good reception but needs improvement
It has a bright screen and is light and easy to use but I had to get it replaced when it stopped working after couple weeks of use. I'd get calls and when I pick it up neither I or the other person on the line could hear anything. I don't have that problem with the replaced handset but now the handfree kit doesn't work. I've been using speakerphone instead while driving.
48 Excellent product!!
Tried the Samsung-S105, Sony-T610, Nokia-3650... This is the best of them all, small size, light, very good reciption. A real quality product.
49 Nokia 6610
I bought this phone primarily for its small size, but have found the other features to be quite amazing. First of all its incredibly small size and lightweight are a dream come true. No hassles in putting clips on belts etc. The phone is also excellent in terms of clarity, reception and volume, although it takes some time getting used to placing the phone properly at the ear.

Inspite of its small size, the nokia design allows for easy navigation of menus , adding calendar entries etc. An interesting feature that I have enjoyed really is the stereo FM radio which has excellent reception (with headphone provided).
The IR device allows for easy sycnchronizatio

On the downside, there is no bluetooth connection.

50 Great phone for the price
Nice phone with an excellent speakerphone that I find most useful. Good reception and battery life. Compact, has tons of features. On the negative side, the screen cover seems to be made of some cheap plastic -- mine cracked on a minor impact. Tactile feel on the buttons could be better. Web browsing experience is so-so, but my gripe has more to do with the carrier. I've had the annoying experience of not being able to connect to T-Mobile's gateway for web browsing when I most needed it.
51 Excellent Phone, Excellent Service
I am a business user who heavily depend on mobile service. There is much which has been said in other reviews about the features of this phone, it is a great phone, mine worked without any problems right out of the box. Just double check with customer service to ensure the number provided by Amazon is for the city/exchange you wanted.

After several years of torture in the hands of AT&T customer service I am delighted to drop them, and look forward to August 2004 when I will convert our other 3 family-phones from AT&T to T-Mobile!

I have had the phone for 1 week, the signal quality has been great in the Detroit area (suburbs) and in my recent road trip between Detroit and Northern Kentucky (Cincinnati) I experienced perfect signal and reception along I-75, FAR superior to AT&T's which does not work along several long stretches on that same route.

I have owned Motorola, Panasonic and Nokia phones over the last 8 years and generally prefer Nokia, this phone combines many of the best Nokia features, the only feature missing for me is the Voice recognition. My favorite features, although there are many, are the speaker phone, the radio and the infrared. The speaker phone is very functional and I use it in the car, very audible even with freeway noise. The infrared is a blessing if you have a previous Nokia and want to transfer your old phone book to this phone, saved me hours of re-entering my numbers.

The combination of the Nokia 6610 and T-Mobile Service (Signal, Price, Service) is a winner, I highly recommend it.

Update, Feb. 29, 2004. The T-Mobile service has been excellent pretty much everywhere I have gone, KY, CA (LA), OH and Canada (Toronto, Cambridge, Kitchner). The only drawback is the very expensive roaming charges in Canada! I will update with service quality in Europe, in the near future.

52 Good Phone, So-So Service...
The day finally arrived when I was sure I'd leave Sprint. After years with that carrier's expensive plans and horrible customer service, portability seemed heaven-sent. I'd always eyed the Nokia phones and had heard decent things about T-mobile, so I gave it a whirl. Here's the brief synopsis: the phone is tiny, cute, feels kind of "plastic-like" (as if it might break), but seems pretty sturdy. It has lots of little cute features, my favorite being the games and the PIM (Personal Information Manager--i.e. organizer), and the Radio! I spent hours setting up the stations (accepts about 13-14, I believe), though the reception is unpredictable. Also, you need to have the headset plugged in all the time to have the radio work and that can get tedious. The headset that comes with the phone has good sound volume but it hurts the ears like you cannot imagine!

The phone comes with okay ringtones, some decent backgrounds/screensavers, but the phone has very little memory (mine had 230kb as it arrived from Amazon, so you don't have too many options on what you can put on there). The colors on the screen are not as crisp as I'd have liked them to be. However, it serves its purpose. The backlight on the phone goes off WAY too quickly (dangerous when you're driving at night), and there's no way to change this--I checked with Nokia. The buttons on the phone are small, even for my small fingertips, but you get used to them rather quickly. The menu options are uncreative, as you can't see a full screen of menu items to pick from; you have to scroll up and down to find what you're looking for (yes, this is minor, but not when you're trying to keep your eye on the road!). More downside to this phone? The volume. Oh my goodness--I have excellent hearing but the volume level on this phone is especially quiet. Forget talking on it in public--you just can't hear the other person! On the up-side, the phone has amazing battery life.

I do like this phone overall (would give it a 3.5), but unforutnately, I am returning it. I was surprised by T-mobile's service. I assumed they had exceptional service, but their reception in my area (Los Angeles) is horrendous. Reason? They piggy-back on Cingular's service. Also, their t-zones, although cheap ($4.99/mo.) never works. Since I received the phone, I spent countless hours on the phone with Customer Service reps who promised t-zones would work "in 24 hours". I must have heard this about a dozen times over the span of 2 weeks, when t-zones NEVER worked. 24 hours? By what time standards--Martian? Apparently, T-mobile is heavily back-logged and can't keep up with demands. Also, they'd forgotten to add "WAP" capability to my service (duh), so that took another 4-5 days of figuring out. In all fairness, customer reps are very nice, and they (most of them) try hard to answer your questions. But they do have this annoying habit of asking you if they've answered ALL your questions, even if they didn't, to which they always seem to expect a "yes" answer from you. I realize this is for Quality Assurance purposes, but I should have the right to say when my questions have NOT been answered (i.e. Me: "When will my T-zones work?", CSR:"I'm not sure".). Umm, well, thanks for nothing. This one CSR insisted on trying to get me to say that he'd answered all my questions (same interaction as I just described), and well...that was annoying. T-mobile is trying very hard, and again--they DO have pretty good CSR's. However, the calls constantly drop in my area and I experince mega-static, to the point where I'd have to dial numbers 6-7 times to get a clear line. And no T-zones. So what's the point? I'm staying with Sprint, and though I fear that their CSR isn't nearly as good as T-mobile's, the clarity of their reception is exceptional.

I've bought the VERY expensive Sanyo 5500/VM4500--which I LOVE--and I'm okay with my services. Guess all that glitters is not gold.

It was worth a shot--too bad it didn't work out. Hope someone else has better luck!

53 The Phone Refused to Die
I bought one of these phones in Kuwait to use with the MTC prepaid telephone service EZ because I would be able to use it when I return to the States with T-Mobile. Recently I accidently washed my telephone with my laundry through two complete 18 minute wash cycles of a washing machine. Disgusted with myself after I found the phone in the bottom of the washing machine, I was about to throw it away when one of my fellow soldiers asked if he could dry it out for me in an effort to revive the phone. Two days later the phone was returned to me in complete working order. While I like the performance of the phone in every regard, I would buy another one solely upon the apparent indestructibility of it. I highly recommend a Nokia 6610.
54 Best Phone For Free
I've had an assortment of cell phones over the years (Motorola, Sony Ericsson, Nokia etc.) and in my opinion, Nokia has the best menus and promps hands down. No other color phone has the combination of features that the 6610 offers. From the speakerphone that can be used up to 15 feet away with clarity, to the downloadable poly-graphic megatones that adds a personal touch to this nifty phone. Whether you're taking a brisk jog, waiting for a bus or just having lunch at the park, you'll be glad you had the FM Radio.
Wish it were a flip phone, but thats not a deal breaker!
55 Glad to own
I have had this phone for about 5 months. I treat the battery well and it has lasted. At my heaviest usage, I must recharge after 3 days. It lasts about 5 days otherwise and has lasted up to 10 when I was making very few calls. Signal strength will affect the battery life. Frequent signal searches eat up battery power.
I took great care of the screen, till I realized that the part that might get scratched is part of the cover. I can replace that if the scratch is unbearable to look at.
The volume level of the phone is not all that good. Some of the higher pitched rings are very easy to hear, but not easy to listen to. The more subtle tones that were included with the phone are hard to hear at times.
The vibration is not top. It is a teeny phone, so it is hard to put a big mechanism in. I don't use the vibration, because it is often easier to hear it vibrate then to feel it. Vibration was not even listed as a feature when I purchased this. So it was no loss.
Overall this has been my favorite phone that I have owned. Great battery life, perfect size, but a tid bit quieter than I would like. I do hope that they offer more faceplate options. I am bored with the silver look.
56 Cool
It has a nice color screen. It is small. Radio is awsome, but it doesn't work unless you have the earpice in. That is a major minus, but its not that bad. T-mobile was a pretty good server. It has 2 games. They are not wowable good. You have to BUY better ones. It also doesn't have voice activated dialing. BIG MINUS!!
57 Great phone, but NO WARRANTY!
This is a very nice phone, but there is no warranty on it. Nokia WILL NOT cover phones bought from Amazon. We got two phones for the T-mobile family plan (indeed very easy to switch to the family plan) and one came with a broken headphone (can hear but cannot be heard) and one died today after less than two weeks of use. I'll see how much help I can get from Amazon and report back.
58 Menu flaws? Mine couldn't send text messages
I upgraded to a 6610 at my local T-Mobile store. When I got it home, I discovered that the menu options for sending messages via either text or email simply weren't there: It defaulted to unchangeable email. So I spent half an hour on the phone with tech support, only to have the online tech person pull one off the shelf and tell me he had the same problem. I returned to the store, whereupon the clerk insisted that he could make it work; he couldn't. He spent another half hour on the phone with tech support, to no avail. So I had to give up and return it, having lost about 4 hours.
While I had the phone, the positive features were: good sound quality and an excellent fm phone and earpiece.
Negative: impossibly tiny and difficult to operate, barely visible, power button. Poor visibility on the keys. You have to tilt the phone around to catch the light on them.
59 GREAT Speakerphone and GREAT reception!! RECCOMEND!!
The title says it all...
The two biggest things is the excellent working speakerphone
"unlike the Nokia 3650" and the superb reception Nokia is known for in the GSM phones they make...

Only con I can think of is no Camera.... No big deal for the size..
This phone is a winner...

60 Perfect
Anything this phone does, it does perfectly. The speakerphone, the radio, all features work perfectly.
The Speakerphone:
This phone has a very cool and useful feature--the speakerphone. As said before this works perfectly. You can adjust the volume to be heard anywhere or so that it doesn't make that big of a disturbance. The person on the other end of the call can hear you perfectly. You can be up to about 3 feet away from it and it will still work perfectly. Only one complaint about the speakerphone, you can only activate the speakerphone feature once the person you are calling answers the phone, not while it is ringing.
The Radio:
This phone is one of the few phones that have an FM radio tuner built in. This radio receives fairly decent reception but not nearly as good as a normal radio, but as long as the stations are coming in clearly the phone's radio should work perfectly.
Tri-Band:
One highly beneficial feature of this phone (at least to me) is that it can be used anywhere in the world except a few countries that do not use GSM, a few in Asia. I bought this phone for my trip to South Africa and it worked almost perfectly. The only problem I had was a small glitch with T-Mobile. Anywhere I went in South Africa this phone received full bar reception. If it worked like that in South Africa, I imagine it would just work without a hitch in Europe.
Sold in other parts of the world:
Another benefit of this phone is that it is truly an international phone; the 6610 is sold in almost everywhere in the world. This means that there is a good chance that this phone will not break easily like typical American phones. Or on the rare occasion it does you can bring it into any T-Mobile store, which are located in many countries in Europe. I cannot stress enough how big of a benefit it is to have a European phone and a European company providing your cell phone service.
Able to use service in another country:
If you decide to go to another country for an extended period of time, you can just buy a SIM card from a service provider in that country. You would then have a phone number in that country and not have to pay for international roaming in that country.
Size and weight:
When you put this phone in your pocket you forget it is there; it is unbelievably small and oh, so light. This is a benefit for many reasons; one being just for appearance, your pants won't be bulging with this phone in your pocket.
Battery Life:
The battery life on this phone is surreal. It lasts, truly, 7 days on standby. I've used the speakerphone for almost two hours once and the battery did not even go down one single bar. It is amazing that the battery lasts so long when the phone is so small and light.
This phone has many other features, IR,; just to name one, the features above I view as the most beneficial.
The phone has a few minor inconveniences, but only because it lacks those features, Bluetooth and high spend internet, but there are very few problems with things that you expected this phone to do.
Overall, I highly recommend this phone. It is a perfect phone in such a small and appealing package.
61 A very nice little phone. Highly recommended.
I have used this phone for about two months now. The reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because the sound quality could be a tad better, but it's by no means terrible. Also, sometimes the speaker distorts at high volumes, but not often enough for it to matter.

Overall, the Nokia 6610 is a great phone that will satisfy most people. There have been issues with bad sound quality in older models, but that should now be fixed. The only time I've experienced bad sound quality is distortion caused by my wife talking too loud into her 6610 while calling my 6610. Why do people still feel the need to yell into phones?! Anyway, the sound quality and reception are above average, and voices sound relatively free and effortless. If you want flawless sound quality and reception, go with a Motorola V60 or P280. They're both older models but can't be beat performance-wise. You won't get the feature set of the 6610, but that's the tradeoff. Nokia menus are also 100% more intuitive than Motorola menus. I swear if I had a pet monkey he'd be calling Africa with my 6610 in no time!

I won't go into all of the features, but I will say the radio is nice (but you have to plug in the headset), web browsing is great on the color screen, and java games may become addicting! The calendar/organizer is surprisingly full-featured and easy to use... typing in entries is a breeze once you get used to predictive text. It's so handy I don't even use my paper calendar anymore.

If this is going to be your first phone, you will love it. If you are used to Motorola P280-like performance, you may be a bit disappointed. If you're on the fence about this phone because of all the negative reviews, I say go for it. Get this free phone, enjoy the features, and you will wonder why people were bashing its sound quality.

62 So far I am more than Pleased
I love the pros and cons reviews so here ya go:

Pros:
Size - extremely small and convenient will fit in your pocket and not bother you.
Sound - Excellent Polyphonic ringing tones are very nice (check cons) It also doubles as a radio, which is a nice feature when you are bored.
Speakerphone - Loud and clear
Has some nice extra features like currency converter and a stopwatch.
Surfing the web on it is nice as well, I just wish there were more wap pages available.

Cons:
Ring tones only come with crazy songs and annoying rings, there is only one ring that sounds close to a regular ring.
The screen is easily scratched but if you have the warranty you should be able to swap it out.
Games kind of stink and you cant download them you have to get the link cable to get additional games.

63 Great buy
Nice little phone... light compact.. great features .. buttons do seema litle sticky tho..and the hands free kits' connector might be a problem..
64 It WORKS... as a PHONE!!!!!!!
Perhaps there is a tone of irony in the title of my review, but I actually mean it in earnest. After having had my heart broken by a sexy piece of hardware that simply wouldn't perform. I replaced it with this not-quite-so-dazzling, but definitely more functional device.

Although the Nokia 6610 is a little short on the features department, it is an outstanding piece of hardware for doing what it was primarily meant to do: to be a wireless TELEPHONE. The reception and sound quality are top-notch. I can routinely talk on the phone in my house in the suburbs, which is an unaccustomed luxury, even with T-Mobile service.

I like the size and weight of this little critter. I am able to carry it close to my body, in places where other phones are not so easily concealed. The keys are close together, and the layout is a bit funky in relation to standard rectangular layout keypads, but it's not too weird. The fact that the "0" key is the space key for text input is a bit confusing, as many phones use the "#" key instead. But that's not an insurmoutable obstacle.

The screen is bright, easy to see in the daylight, with nice colors. It receives very nice MMS pictures from other GSM phones.

There are some features in the user interface that I find a little inconvenient. The menu options appear one at a time, taking up the whole screen, and one has to scroll down one by one, or have memorized where they are in the menu order, to select them by using the number keypad. Thumbs down on that one.

The vibrate setting is LOUD! So loud, really, that it doesn't work terribly well as a silent ringer option. But, then again, the ringer can be SO LOUD that I heard it ringing inside my office, when I was already out on the street... Which was a good thing, because I realized I had forgotten my phone...

Other things that I miss are voice-activated dialing and a standard 2.5 mm headset jack. I'd like a camera phone, but I'd rather have a phone than a toy that takes pictures but makes no calls...

PROS:
- Light, compact design
- Solid, high-quality construction
- Well-backlit keypad
- OUTSTANDING signal reception
- Excellent sound quality
- Bright, visible screen
- Speakerphone
- Very long-lasting battery life

CONS:
- Some features in the user interface
- No voice activated dialing (WHAT WERE THEY THINKING????)
- No option for caller-ID pictures or individualized ringtones.

- Propietary headset jack

66 I love this phone
One of the best cell phones I have ever used to-date. I like the speakphone function a lot. It allows me to place the phone on the table while talking and working on my computer or other jobs. I am very pleased with its quality and durability. I like the automatic key lock function. The phone is very light weight. The screen is bright and ring tones are unlimited. The FM radio is cool. Most of our emplyees use this model phone. Best regards Sadoun Satellite Sales
67 Best of the Best Mobile Phone
While going for a cellphone, I was fully determined to buy a NOKIA only as it is the best in cellphones. After much survey of all the present handsets and recommendations from friends, I bought this NOKIA 6610. And really this is the best phone one could have. It has all the features one would need in a cellphone. It is lightweight, sleek, stylish and attractive.

This phone is very user-friendly, easy to manipulate & very convenient to scroll in menu etc. The time taken in shifting from one menu option to other is in microseconds only.

It has FM radio option and I can listen to music anytime. Its speakerphone option allows us to do long talks conveniently, lying on bed & phone lying by your pillowside. It comes equipped with lot of wallpapers and polyphonic sweet tunes.

Only if we could get one camera in it..it did have scored over all other competitors....

I am enjoying my phone a lot....
68 Cool Phone!
Like some other reviewers, I recieved this phone using T-Mobiles upgrade program. I had been comparing the 3650, 3560 and the 3595 but couldn't settle...then along came the 6610, which was perfect for me.
Pros: Small size. I love the fact I can carry it in my shirt or pants pocket and forget about it. Just make sure the keys are locked. Color screen is good. It has lots of features such as the calendar which works like my Outlook calendar. The keys are laid out normal so there is no guessing. Navigating through the menus is super easy, especially if you have owned a previous model Nokia phone. Battery life is very good, I use it every day and I have to charge it every 5 or 6 days or so.
Cons: Not many. The volume key can be hard to press, but I think this may be by design rather than a flaw, perhaps to keep you from pressing it accidentally when you are in a call. PC cable is to expensive...$50 for a USB cable? Please! Is this how Nokia subsidizes their free PC software?
69 Slightly better than average phone in its class
First of all I have been a big nokia fan and have been upgrading my cell phones about once a year (right after the release contract is over). My last phone was a Samsung S105 which IMO is superior and cheaper to this phone. Below is how I evaulate this phone with other T-mobile phones which I have borrowed from parents/friends:

Sound Quality: The most important thing for me is sound quality. Nokias have always had good sound quality and this is no exception. I think the sound quality of this phone is slightly better than my Samsung phone, the Motorolla T720 series, and the Sony Ericsson T610 series. The loud speaker function on the 6610 is great because you don't need to put your phone right next to your ear to talk.

Overall Design: I like my phones to be small so I can fit it in my pockets. Of all these phones the Motorolla and the Sony Ericsson phones are the smallest. The 6610 is the actually the longest but they are all very small. As much as I like Nokia phones the flip phones IMO are much better because a)you wont scratch your screens/keys b)you dont need to lock your phone all the time to prevent accidently hitting the keys.

Ease of use: How easy is it for me to get to a certain menu? The Samsung phones has a customize function so that you can assign certain functions to directional buttons (like assign alarm clock to the left directional key). That is a very nice feature. The 6610 is still easier to use than the other two phones (T610, T720i). The Sony Ericsson phone (T610) has the most whistles and bells, but is also the hardest to use.

Battery: The Nokia, Samsung and the Sony phones can all last for 3 days provided you don't talk too much. The Motorolla phone have a horrible battery which lasts about a day (although I heard that the Motorolla T722i has a much longer battery life).

Features: The T610 has the most functionality hands down. Personally I found the integrated digital camera of the T610 to be very nice. My girlfriend is paranoid when I am not around her and I just take a pic and send it to her on the spot so she can regain her sanity. The T610 can also compose music, a feature which most won't use. The 6610 has the radio function which is utterly useless. It also has a stock tracking app built in (also useless) and a somewhat useful application which converts all types of metrics (currency, length, area, etc). The S105 (Samsung) has a beautiful big display (65,000 colors), and I can't say much about the Motorolla. All these phones have color screens, polymorphic tones, and are internet ready. In music tones department the 6610 has 20 chords(thats number of different instruments which it can play) I think, the Samsung I think have 15, I donno about the other phones but I feel the T610 has the best sounding ring tones. Regarding PC software support Nokia Suite does not work with some versions of XP as I tried to connect my phone via infrared port on my laptop. I called Nokia tech support and they blamed Microsoft. Oh well..

Overall this is a slightly better than average phone. Both the Samsung and the Sony phones offer a lot more features than this 6610. Personally I like the Samsung phones better because I found myself liking the flip phones so much more. I think there is a good chance I will try to get a Samsung flip camera phone next year. If T-mobile does not offer such a phone most likely I will get the T610. They are all free if you get a new account anyway, but stick to T-mobile if you are going to use your phone overseas because T-mobile actually allows you to unlock your SIMM Cards so that you can buy SIMM cards cheap from other nations and plug into your phone when you are doing some international travelling.

70 perfect phone
This is the best phone I have seen.
71 I bought 2
I bought 2 of these phones 2 months ago for myself and my girlfriend. We got a familyplan from t-mobile which saves us tons. The phones are awesome. We hardly ever have to charge them, get great reception (live in Chicago), and the customization and applications are awesome. Here's a hint: go to Nokia.com and get their PC suite and a connection cable if you dont have IrDA or bluetooth. You can do *so* much more with the PC suite, i.e. free ringtones from midi files, free graphics from any picture on your computer, and if you know how to program JME you can even make your own apps/games. The phone's sound quality is great (turn up the volume if its too quiet, people, this thing will get loud) I dont have any complaints about this phone and the only thing that i miss from my 8290 is voice dialing.
72 Nokia 6610 great for games and ringtones
I bought this slick phone and I am very happy with it. Nice and small and excellent when it comes to downloading games, graphics and ringtones from www.crazycellphone.com
73 nokia 6610
I just purchased this phone and I think this is the coolest phone I ever had. The features are really cool like the radio. The first night I got this phone I put it next to me when I went to bed just to listen to my favorite music station and the handset itself doesnt weight anything its too light and feel so comfy with it. Technology wise, I think this is awesome plus the speaker makes it even great!!!! I love this phone!!!
74 why i don't can this product without a plan?
i'm live in brazil and i need very to buy this product without a plan to use in here in other operators. i'm pay in auto-debit in my account. please, if anyone want sell to me this cell phone in my conditions, i'm wait very happy. thanks!
75 Excellent, but only GSM ????
I thought this was the ultimate phone when it comes to basic features, but i was dissapointed when i saw that it was only a GSM comaptible phone. As I travel quite a lot, I'd want something with GSM as well as CDMA tri-band. For a specific location, I still think its a great phone.
76 i really think
i think that it is a were good mobile phone and i may buy it
77 Great phone, but what did you say?
This really is a great little phone; its got nice features, a beatiful screen, great ergonomics, and its tiny! I waited a few years between phones, mostly because (like most I think) I didnt really need one. This phone won me over, and a big seller was the size; it fits nicely into any pocket without falling out. The downside though, may be a big one for you. Its quiet. Really quiet. Grandma in church quiet. I've gotten used to it (holding it in just the right realation to the ear, ducking into quieter places in bars) but when others borrow it they're shocked I can use it. So, I recomend it, but not for those that have any hearing troubles, or for those that like to talk a lot in crowded public places (which is annoying, by the way.)
78 someone help please!
I really want this phone. So far people seem very satisfied with the phone and t-mobile service, but what about the amazon service? Has anyone had any shipping problems or have maybe received a phone that just doesn't work? T-Mobile won't service phones that you bought online in the store so I'm just a little worried this is too good to be true. Any comments would helpful.
79 Incredibly Pleased
I bought this phone when it first came out in the summer. Prior to my switch to T-mobile, Sprint was my service provider. To say the least, i was horribly dissatisified with my service with sprint, which was why T-mobile was so fantastically refreshing. My past two phones were all flip phones, and I was beginning to tire of them. Nokia was my first nonflip phone, and I'm glad I decided to go with them. First of all, my calls were loud and clear, unlike with Sprint. I could make phone calls from locations I previously could not (like my apartment). The phone is small, light, and very attractive. The battery life is amazing. The color screen is a plus, as are the polyphonic ringtones. I'm not one who uses web browsing, so this phone easily met and surpassed my needs. I highly recommend this phone to anyone. I've yet to be dissappointed.
80 Nokia 6610 (sound quality)
The phone is great with very cool features & options, but comparing to my older motorola phone, it gets a failing grade in speaker quality. I do here a constant high-pitched distorted sound, not to mention the volume does not seem to be loud enough. It's going back today, & being replaced with the new samsung X105. You do take your chances with this phone.
81 Ultimate Phone for Mobile Life
I considered this phone (Nokia 6610), mainly because of my sister and the features. It is a great phone, if you are traveling all over the world, packed with wonderful features. Truly, I am quite impressed..!!

This is a very light phone - a little less than 3 oz, with long battery life (not as long as the new polymer technology). On an average, you would charge it once a week.

The hands-free speakerphone is quite powerful (like the Motorola phone, I used to own). I simply love this feature. In addition it comes with a sleek and powerful headset. The built in FM Radio is excellent for people traveling by public transport. If you buy the stereo headset, you will enjoy it much more.

The PC Sync feature is superb that comes with Nokia PC Suite software (with data cable or infrared port or bluetooth). No more hazzles of keying in all data, using the small phone keypad. Just maintain them (phonebook, calendar and to-do list) in MS Outlook or Lotus Notes and transfer data back and forth. Additionally, it has more fun stuff like more tones, wallpapers, screensaver, stop clock, alarm, java applications (chess, currency converter etc.)

The mobile text messaging, chat, picture sharing etc. other nicities, that you would enjoy. The MMS technology is very well integrated with this phone, which you will enjoy.

The built-in camera they offer these days is more of kids stuff. If you have a good digital camera, there is no reason to consider the camera capabilities of a mobile phone. However, if you are keen, you can attach a camera to this phone.

I have not yet discovered the internet features yet, which I will be doing soon. I felt that I should write this comment ASAP, as I am quite excited in using its features. I can recommend this phone to anyone, anytime.

82 Awesome Phone Choice
After using the bulky 3650 for three weeks, I searched for a smaller alternative. I was immediately interested in the 6610. I have used this phone for two months now. Not only is it the perfect size (not too small, not too large), it also has all the features a high-tech phone user would want. If you can live without an integrated camera, you won't miss much more. In true Nokia style, the phone is simple to use and despite its delicate appearance, this little guy is as durable as other Nokias I have owned. The phone book is very user-friendly and the speakerphone is excellent. Even better, with the optional headset you can listen to music over the integrated radio.
If there are any drawbacks to this phone here they are. Although I find it more convenient to use 1-touch dialing, this phone does not have voice dialing. The keypad is a decent size, but the power on/off key is small and difficult to press. However, the battery life is good enough you shouldn't be overly concerned with turning this phone off. In my opinion the worst issue on this phone is the side-mounted volume control. It requires significant force to operate which can be scary on such a small phone. One other issue is that the headphone jack is unique to Nokia, so standard headphones will not work.
Overall this is the best phone I have ever owned. Any disadvantages are easily outweighed by its advantages. Nokia does not disappoint in this model.
83 Go for it!
Awesome phone, great prices on Amazon.com. I couldn't be happier with T-Mobile either, I switched from Cingular.

One complaint...the screen is too easily scratched! But there are faceplates to replace it I guess...

84 Almost there
I got this phone in T-Mobile's current customer retention program for very little money and no contract renewal. I was getting so sick of my old Motorola L7089, but was waiting for the right phone to come along. This is almost it but not quite but the price was right. That said this phone does what it does extremely well - way better than anything Motorola can produce. It has great battery life, FM Radio, excellent signal, hands free speakerphone (which I have to say is probably my favorite function) and downloadable java apps.

What it lacks for me isn't available on one phone yet, namely GSM850 (also sometimes known as GSM800), Bluetooth and EDGE. So when the quad bands start appearing I will be upgrading again. But for now this will do.

Oh and before anyone comments yes I know Motorola have announced a quad band EDGE Bluetooth phone, but its not shipping at time of writing and the tri-band GSM850 phones lack the GSM900 band which is important if you like me globally roam.

85 Great Phone...Great Features...Great Plan
I purchased this phone after having been an AT&T subscriber with a Nokia 8260 phone for over three years. I did a ton of research and settled on this phone because of the small size, speakerphone option, great priced calling plan and access to my corporate email.
I went to an AT&T store before I bought this phone to see if it was possible to get corporate email with any of their services and they looked at me like I had three heads. They told me I would have to connect to my laptop, which had to be on and connected to my corporate network through the phone in order to access my corporate email.
With the T-Mobile Unlimited T-Zones for $10, I can check any number of email addresses and use unlimited internet.
I have had no problems with the phone. Friends of mine are always asking about it and wanting to use it. I've even had one friend buy one immediately after a test drive.
Great phone, I'd buy another.
86 excellent phone
Excellent phone, the phone looks much better than what u see in the pictures.
Bluetooth functionality would have made the phone even better. One more thing, the default ringtones that come with the phone are horrible. overall an excellent phone.
The service from T-Mobile is very good too. In all a winning combination.
87 Worth every penny !
Great Phone, Easy to use, Excellent Network, No regrets !!!
88 YO WHAT A FIND.
I purchased this phone for just 50$ and there is no end to what i can do with it. Nokia and T-mobile really teamed up well on this baby. It puts an end to organizational deficiencies as well as communications and internet, without a bulky phone like the Treo or something, which i had to cell because i was so unhappy with it. Now my little 6610 is the most coveted item at school! People have paid me money just to borrow it because its so elegant. Service is great as far as i can tell, features work like a charm, ringtones are high quality if you buy them from T-mobile and AIM is great. Now i can always be in contact. This is probably your best bet if you are looking for a phone in this price range, or like me, do not have the patience to deal with annoying flip phones. A great deal in general! i would not give up this phone for the world.
89 1 month, no problems, great phone
I'm very pleased with my 6610 phone. Yes, the features are numerous. The speakerphone works better than any speakerphone I've ever had. People I talk to on the speakerphone are shocked when it comes out at times that I'm even using a speakerphone. The sound quality is excellent, except, maybe a *tad* too quiet at times when there are quieter talkers on the other end of the line. The included earpiece is very comfortable and easy to use. I have not had any distortion problems with this phone and am more pleased with this phone than any I've used before.

Nokia has definitely won me over with this one.

90 Best Phone Out There...A+
Not only is this the best phone out there but is cheap (FREE!!). First let me say that it is much smaller than it looks on the web and it also looks better. The radio feature has superb sound quality. I've compared this phone to others such as 6100, siemens sl55. Even though they might be smaller many people seem to have alot of problems with them. It has a classic design yet looks hip. Is a lot better compared to the toy phone design of the Nokia 7210 with its cheap feel. It is extremely light and dissapears in your pocket. For those that are looking for camera phones just get the camera attachement and comes with the stereo headphones to listen to the radio in style. The battery is alot better than most of the phones out there. One thing that I found out recently is that you don't need T-Zones from Tmobile to go online. Every T-mobile plan comes with GSM data, meaning that instead of speeds of 56 Kbps is around 9 Kbps (With those small size WAP websites do you really think it makes a difference). Anyways there are ways to set up your 6610 to connect to CSD which uses regular minutes and you are surfing the net, being able to download pics and ringtones (not java apps, you need t-zones for that). Tmobiles might not have the best reception in some areas but with amazing phones such as Nokia 6610 and cheap plans that you get way more minutes than any other plans. If you thought about getting this phone buy it. This Phone is great as a whole and is not like others with one or two good qualities.
91 6610 = Great Phone and a few extras
I am a person that needs my phone(s) on demand. I currrently have service with T-Mobile, Verizon, and T-Mobile. The reason so many is that I am a Contractor and all of my Subs have these carriers and I can benifit from the Mobile to Mobile features that companies are now offering! That beside you are prob. very well aware of many of the features that this phone is known for, and one that has NOT YET BEEN MENTIONED: using this phone as a modem for ANY computer with a USB 1.0 port! Using the GPRS option you can pay 19.99 extra a month and have unlimited internet access added to you account. YES it is 56k speed, but the functionality is what you are paying for. I Myself find this great for when I am at a site I can run to my truck and hook up my modem cable (49.99 @ nokiausa.com or t-mobile.com) press dial up on my laptop (by the way it is a Mac PB 1gz. and in a matter of seconds I can access my Email, Fax, and the entire web from my truck! The only problem that I have found with the Internet service is that it does not access MLS (real estate broker software) very well at all. I find a great amount of value in this option for any and all the people that travel buy car and do not have access to the T-Mobile "Hot-Spots". It does well in all aspects of internet browsing. As i also leave you with this review I would like to thank you for reading it.
92 Sound good but complicated
do too many stuffs to get to a free phone after rebate.
also, if i want a family plan, which mean i need tw phones on a plan...so how can i do that...aren't that free for two after the rebates. and how can i do that....print those coupons twice for two phones?...
93 Don't Have the Phone just commenting
I saw another review saying his only gripe was a lack of voice dialing. The phone DOES have voice dialing according to Amazon & T-Mobile and Nokia. The phone may look large but it is very small smaller then the 3390 phone. My sister has this series of phone and she loves the radio and headset. I find the lack of entertaining games on this phone quite disturbing. I don't really like bounce. I have always known Nokia to provide me with good games on their phones. Battery life is good for a phone of this size. But anyway, the only thing you should really look at here is the fact that the phone DOES have voice dialing.
94 Great screen and great sound
Ok, everybody loves the FM radio in this, but you want a cell phone first, right? The 6610 excels as a cell phone, thank God. The voice quality is very good, and it gets great reception (that is, in places where you get T-Mobile coverage, which is not that good; see below). The color screen makes this free-after-rebates phone shine bright, and commands are very responsive.

My only gripe about the hardware is the buttons. Nokia seems on a campaign to revamp the phone keypad, which IMHO is totally unnecessary. This model does have the traditional key arrangement, it's just that they are really close to one another, and have unconventional shapes, so it takes a big getting used to for someone like me with big hands. (To be fair, the same can be said about many Korean imports, and the Nokia's build quality is light years ahead of the Koreans.) Other than that, this is a perfect phone for those of us with no patience for flips.

Finally, I reiterate my thumbs-down rating for T-Mobile as a carrier. Their network coverage is very sporadic, and the network always seems overloaded, resulting in very unpleasant calling experience. If you can get this phone for Cingular or AT&T, go with the other carriers.

95 Great phone, great service, no voice dialing
The Nokia 6610 is a relatively new phone, and what a great phone it is. When I first saw the 6610, I thought it was too small. After using it, I found the size to be perfect for carrying in a pocket. It is just a tad small to hold to your ear with your shoulder, but that is solved with the very comfortable handsfree ear-piece which is included. The ear-piece has a button that answers and hangs-up the phone so you do not have to mess with the phone at all, unless dialing a number. Unfortunately, the 6610 does not offer voice dialing like my previous phone, but the other features it packs outweighs this shortcoming.

When I turned the phone on, the first thing that hit me is how good the screen is. The resolution is very good and the colors are bright and even changeable! The phone has several color schemes you can choose from. I like the default blue. You can also set a background wallpaper. The ringtones included are awesome, and did I mention they were polyphonic? No more annoying series of beeps. This phone plays up to 4 tones at one time and it actually sounds like music. You can also assign special rings anjd graphics to special people when they call. The massive phonebook can hold 300 entries, with multiple phone number per entry, so you can program your boss's home, work and cellphone numbers all under one contact.

The phone also sports an image gallery (with option camera attachment), a calendar/organizer, alarm clock with snooze, FM radio (way cool, even if it is just through an ear-peice), games, Java applications and GPRS high-speed internet connection.

The GPRS connection is sometimes slow, and writing instant messages with the included AOL Instant Messenger software is a pain, but the other t-zones applications are quite useful. You can get weather, movies, horoscopes and more with a few clicks. The service deafults to showing the information associated with your billing ZIP code, but you can change the default and seach other areas while on the go. One downside: as of this writing, T-Mobile hasn't updated their t-zone system to fully support the 6610. Their website does not show it as a compatible phone, and should I try to access the game downloads on t-zones the system returns an error message saying my phone is not supported. I have been assured this will be fixed soon.

Now, for the T-Mobile service: I cannot say enough good things about the people who answer the phones. If you have a question, they have the answer. And should they not know it, they can find it out pretty quick. Every phone experience has started with a very brief time on hold followed by a cheerful representative answering the phone. All my questions or problems have been quickly and satisfactorily resolved. I'd like to see my old carrier do that!

The rate plans are also very good, at least for me. Different people have different needs, of course, but the T-Mobile plans are priced very well for the minutes and services you receive.

The phone would have received 5 stars if the phone had voice dialing and the game downloads from t-zones worked. This phone is highly recommended otherwise.

97 T-Mobile ruins an otherwise good phone
Nokia makes a great phone, that's clear. With all its complicated features, the menus are easily accessible and the quality of the features is great. The one huge disappointment is that the phones manufactured for T-Mobile lack many of the menus and functions that a Nokia straight from the manufacturer should have. One of the things T-Mobile brags about is the fact that it's a "worldphone" and can be used in Europe, etc. Yet they've gotten rid of most of the languages that should be in the phone, including Italian, German, and Dutch. The internet functions of the phone - WAP and GPRS - will ONLY work through T-Mobile's services, because they have deleted the menu options that would enable you to configure the phone to be used on a different network. Therefore, if you wanted to travel abroad and pop in a local SIM card, even if you unlock the phone, there is no way you can use the local WAP browser or internet. After spending hours being transferred from one tech help person to another, I got fed up and have decided to return the phone. Bottom line, if you're attracted to this phone because of its tri-band feature so you can take it abroad, forget it. Find another phone, or buy this one in its manufacturer-unlocked form.
98 A good phone
This phone is good with a huge array of features built into it. I purchased the phone last week and have been using till then.. I didn't had any problem till now. The design is sleek and the color screen has good resolution. It is very light weight and has a good signal strength.

However, the main problem that i think is the with the sound quality. It is not as good as the Samsung phones that i have used earlier. When talking the voice is not very clear. But, I would definately recommend this phone. Go for it...

99 PEOPLE WITH BAD AUDIO QUALITY HAVE DEFECTIVE PHONES
I have read a lot of the reviews and my phone does not have a hiss or anything that people are talking about. It is crystal clear. This is one of the nicest phones Nokia has made. I do recommend getting the data kit for those geeks. There are a lot of cool websites with games and MIDI ringtones to download for free.
100 It's a joke phone
Well...no good thing/product lasts forever.
After beeing the happy owner of a 6150 and a 6250 in Europe, after I moved to US I had a hard time in choosing a GSM phone. I was picky and expecting to find something in the same league.

When 6610 was offered by AT&T and T-Mobile I decided it's a phone that deserves a try. Now, after 2 months of intensive usage of all the functions I am asking myself what happened with Nokia? They used to manufacture good, reliable phones.

I will only say that after a month and a half of SMS writing, the phone heys were loose and noisy, like in a toy phone. I had to use the PC Suite and my laptop to write them and then IR them to the phone to be sent away.
The batery life per charge is a joke...3 days of barely using anything else than a SMS transmision at every 2-3 hrs during day time. My former 6150/6250 were in another leaugue here. 7-8 days between charges or even more if lightly used.

No Bluetooth, but my laptop compensates by having its own remote...go figure. What's next?

Only polyphonic MIDI, not actual wmv audio files...if you hear a cow mooing and then someone answering his phone...now that's a phone which can handle more than MIDI ring tones.
