1 The Best Camera Ever
I have never owned a camera before this one but I have taken a lot of pictures with other cameras so I know a good camera. I did a lot research when I decided to finally buy my own camera. I chose this one based on it's not complex features. I wanted something that would take up a lot of my time to learn as I am a college student and need that time to study school work not how to work a camera. I got the camera about two weeks ago and I couldn't be happier with the results, these are some of the best pictures that I have ever taken. This is definatly a camera that is for the first time camera owner.
2 Fun starter camera
Although all the gadgets were a little overwhelming at first their instruction manual is very helpful and helped me not only with the camera but a little general photography. It would have been nice to get some batteries with it but if that's the only gripe I've got I'm pretty impressed.
3 Excellent Beginner SLR
I recently went on a trip to England, and wanted a camera that was of higher quality. I chose the SLR style because I wanted what I saw in the viewfinder to be what the final product looked like. I chose this camera specifically because it has an integrated zoom lense (up to 120mm) and multiple automatic features. I have found this camera to be excellent in nearly every aspect.

PROS:
1.Fantastic image quality. Olympus lenses seem to be of superior quality to some other major brands I've tried.
2. Quick selection of auto features (night, landscape, high speed, etc.)
3. LONG battery life
4. Quick rewind and loading of 35mm. film

CONS:
1. Built in lens means no way to change lense (No going to a telephoto or macro lense.) What you see is what you get.

4 Great Camera
The pictures taken with this camera are GREAT!!!!!! The pictures look so real. I love it!!
5 a superb job!
I had the IS-20 QD Camera, the earlier model to this one and was pleased by the picture results. Sadly the IS-20 started acting weird wouldn't take pictures with the remote and would drain the batteries if left inside the camera over night. Tried fixing it but it'd take money and time, so i upgraded to the IS-50 and still a charm to use. Easy to point and shoot the only fall for it is taking pictures with really low light. That's all, over all a great camera to own.
6 Good Quality for the Price
I just purchased this camera less than a week ago and just had the first roll developed. Very crisp and clean pics. Very user friendly controls on the camera and a perfect camera for a novice. One negative would be the sensitive auto focus button. Press just a bit too quick or hard and no auto focus. But this is something that will take a little time to break in. All and all a good camera
7 Very pleased
I was very impressed by what this camera can do. It takes wonderful portrait shots of babies. I love the red eye reduction that this camera has to ofer. The date printed on the camera is also a great plus however I would have perfered it to print on the back of the camera instead of the front lower corner. I recommend reading the directions before taking photo as well you'll get a better use out of it.
8 Absolutely fabulous, no regrets.
The customer comments on this page were really helpful in my decision to buy this camera. I own a Canon T70, but I've hardly ever gotten knock out shots from it. Pictures were just so-so, even with a professional Kodak Supra 100 35mm film. By comparison, I took the same shots with the same film with my newly purchased Olympus IS-50. Picture quality were simply stunning with the IS-50, hands down. I couldn't be happier. Almost every shot came out crisp and clear. However, couple of bad ones were due to camera shake due to unsteady hand, not attributable to the camera itself. And for the price I got it for--it was a steal. You could hardly go wrong with its superior flash system. How it calculates the right lighting is one of its best kept secrets, I guess.

Two negatives I have though, which aren't that much, considering. It doesn't come with a remote control for self-shooting. You have to buy it separate. And the other is it's made in China! I wish it were made in Japan, but these days, the only ones they still care to manufacturer are higher-end pro cameras. But my confidence in the durability and quality of this camera is based on my belief that Olympus has rigorous quality control towards the manufacture of this camera. Good enough for me.

9 Worth Every Penny!
This camera is wonderful. I've shot two weddings for friends and now that I have a one year old running around - I'm taking pictures almost every day. People are impressed when they see me whip this camera out of the bag - but even more impressed when they see the pictures I've taken. Everything is crisp and clear and the colors are brilliant. I wish I could show you some examples to prove the ability of this camera. You don't have to be a pro to take great pictures. I highly recommend investing your money in this camera if you want something durable, something with quality and something that really takes great shots and is easy to use. GO FOR IT!
10 Absolutely Fabulous
My quest to find a versatile camera with good quality output resulted in this camera. The pictures are extremely sharp and clear, even at the maximum zoom. The camera offers several automatic modes that come in handy and add to the versatility of composition. I highly recommend this camera to anyone.
11 Great Pictures
Good Camera..very Handy and good styling..get noticed..very where. But now after doing about 10 rolls , feels that Shutter Speed Setting Adjustment should be present, like in Manual Cameras..You wont probably use the LT Mode unless you have bought yourself a Tripod.Good Entry level SLR Camera.Unless you want to go for N65 which cost [money] Mmore.. this camera is good
12 Auto SLR that has no competition
I have been using this camera for two roles of film and must report complete satisfaction. I rated it 4 stars only due to its weight. At 23 oz. it is a bit heavy, but nothing to prevent me from hanging it on my neck for a few hours. Compared to a Canon Rebel or the Minolta Maxxum 4, I would highly recommend the iS-50. If you are buying an entry level SLR and expect to operate in auto mode most often, the Olympus is perfect. If you want something with more horsepower, expect to use manual or semi auto more often, are going to want additional lenses, then buy a Canon Elan or Maxxum ST. I simply wanted a good 35 mm auto SLR to take high quality pictures. The iS-50 is fit for purpose.
13 A Must Have for us Technically Challenged shutterbugs
I'm impressed with this camera. I've always wanted to have an SLR to take better quality pictures, but didn't want to spend months learning how all the do-dads and whats-its can influence those all important family pictures. Even my fiancee likes using it, and she's terrified of anything overly technical.
I'm a whiz with other technical gear, but I've always been leary of jumping into the world of photography. The camera is not going to make you professional. But it does make it easier to explore those fun and creative impulses. Once I load the camera with film, I want to use up the roll as soon as possible.
I made this decision for a camera to keep for the long haul. I'm not disappointed.
14 Professional quality, with the ease of point and shoot!
That "inner voice" told me that this was the camera I wanted. I checked it out in the stores. I liked the way it looked, I liked the way it felt. The fact that it was a 35mm SLR, and a good zoom was a must.
I checked prices on this camera EVERYWHERE. You will not find a better deal on this camera than here at Amazon.com!
So the incredible price sealed the deal.
It is so easy to use. It has an automatic feature that does it all for you, right down to the focus. Or all the settings for a professional.
BUT! I got my first pictures back today, and WOW!!!! The color is brilliant, the images sharp! We took pictures at the zoo, and they look like they came out of a magazine!
The only drawback is the size. It's a little heavy and bulky, but preserving my precious children's faces in such a quality photo.... I don't mind! I couldn't reccomend a better camera
15 Couldnt be more pleased
I bought this camera wanting some control and great zoom with, at least moderate picture quality. What turned me on most was the fact that I didnt have to buy and carry around another lens to get "closer" to the object I wanted to capture. I havent owned many SLR cameras but, I have to say this is easily the best camera I have ever owned. I thought for the price, I would just be getting a mediocre camera with marginal picture quality at best, but I was pleasently mistaken. This camera takes great pictures with incredible detail. If you do not know anything about apurature, and how to generally opperate an SLR camera this is the camera you should seriously look into. It is fully automatic. It will sellect the best settings for the light and focus for you with only a push of a button. If your a control freak, dont worry, you have that option as well. You can sellect a manual setting that will give you total control. The zoom is unbelievable, and the camera is well balanced. For the price, you cant beat it! Ive really enjoyed taking pictures with this camera. Enjoy!
