1 A Romantic View of Love in Italy
Norman Jewison created this warm and airy ode to love, and gave it both the beauty and fragrance of a flower cart on the cobbled streets of Italy. The scenery will take your breath away and the story make you smile in this light romantic comedy.
The always sweet and engaging Marisa Tomei is Faith, on the the verge of marriage when a phone call from her fiance's friend will stop her dead in her tracks, simply because his name is Damon Bradley. A game played when she was a child and a Gypsy fortune teller at a carnival in her teens told her the man she would love and marry would be named, Damon Bradley.
Bonnie Hunt shines as Faith's sister-in-law and best friend, who takes off to Venice with her in search of her destiny, written in the stars. When they discover Damon Bradley has left the hotel he called from, the search will go from Venice to Rome, and on to the lovely Italian coast, as Norman Jewison gives us a gorgeous view of romantic Italy.
Robert Downey Jr. is at his most charming as Damon Bradley, who Faith meets by chance, or perhaps fate, and falls in love with. Faith will discover, however, that destiny has a few twists and turns in store for her, in this truly delightful violin concerto to love.
This film will work its magic on you if you enjoy a light romantic comedy with a 1950's feel, and will surely become one of your favorites if you are seeing it for the first time. Don't let destiny, or this film, pass you by.
2 Still one of my favorites
There are a few movies I can watch over and over and this is one of them. Okay, I am a huge Joaquim de Almeida fan (I do his web site) which was the draw for me to watch it the first time.
However, there's something so charming about this movie I'd have liked it anyway. While I do find Marisa Tomei somewhat annoying in the movie and didn't like Fischer Steven's character - the movie is enchanting. Beautiful scenery!
Bonnie Hunt by far stole the show from Marisa Tomei in this. And Joaquim turns in a wonderful performance. Most people in the U.S. only know his "bad guy" roles (such as Clear and Present Danger, Desperado, and "24") and haven't seen him do comedic roles. He handles it well and he is the perfect seductive character while being totally likeable.
3 Excellent feel good movie
I really love this movie. The acting and scenery are worth watching it. Bonnie Hunt is hilarious much funnier than Jerry McGuire. Robert Downey Jr. is amazing. I truly recommend it to any true romantic at heart!

5 Romantic sighs all the way!
'Only You' is one of the best romantic comedies around in my opinion.
Faith Corvatch (Marisa Tomei) believes very much in destiny and soul mates and as a child obtained the name of her soul mate from a ouija board. Fourteen years later and she is about to marry a podiatrist when she answers a telephone call from a gentleman by the name of Damon Bradley - the name of her soul mate. She is determined to meet him before her wedding, but the only problem is he is at the airport on his way to Venice. Not to be deterred, Faith and her sister-in-law Kate Corvatch (Bonnie Hunt) set off in pursuit of Mr Bradley. They arrive in Venice too late, so pursue him further to Rome, where Faith bumps into a man. The man is smitten by Faith and this is a match made in heaven except for one teeny, weeny little problem - his name is not Damon Bradley but rather Peter Wright (Robert Downey Jr). Whilst in Rome too, Kate starts a bit of a fling with a seducer by the name of Giovanni (Joaquim De Almeida) who actually helps the slightly enlarged party find a Damon Bradley in Positano. But things turn out not to be as they seem, although everything eventually is sorted out to the satisfaction of all.
If you are going to make a romantic comedy, there can be no better place to set it than Italy, and no better places in Italy than Venice, Rome and Positano. The setting of the film certainly helps no end with some wonderfully beautiful scenery as the backdrop to the story. Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr make a quite wonderful couple and there seems to be genuine chemistry between the two. Bonnie Hunt is well cast in the supporting role of sister-in-law with doubts about the fidelity of her husband. Well crafted in both story and finished film, this is another fine effort from Norman Jewison, better known probably for Moonstruck.
6 What a scenery!
OK, the script may be somewhat cheesy - it is lighthearted, but the actors are utterly delightful and humorous, and the scenery is breathtaking.
Marisa Tomei plays Faith, a young woman whose brother played a prank upon her when they were teenagers and paid a fortune-teller to tell her that she would get married to the main by the name of Damon Bradley. This worked like a hypnotic suggestion - it stuck in her mind. She was just about to get married to someone, and while she is fixing her wedding gown, when the phone rings and a friend of her husband to be presents himself as Damon Bradley. This triggers the words of the fortuneteller and off the chase begins to at least find out who this man is before she commits an error of getting married to the wrong guy.
She only manages to find out that Damon Bradley is at the airport en route to Italy. There is no time to be wasted and without packing anything, dressed in her wedding gown, off she goes lest she'd miss the man of her life. Bonnie Hunt is absolutely priceless in her supporting role - as a best friend, she, too, drops everything and decided to accompany her smitten friend on a wild chase through Italy. That wasn't such a hard decision to make since her own marriage was on the rocks.
While the actors are wonderful in their roles, it is this wild chase through Italy and the scenery that gives the movie special charm and appeal. Some places are simply more conducive to romance than others - they feed your heart and soul with beauty, love, inspiration and romance.
It's here in Italy that Robert Downey, Jr. stumbles upon Marisa Tomei and then he begins designing events to convince her that he is the right guy, originally even misrepresenting himself as Damon Bradley, and eventually incorporating a little bit of help from his friend, played by Billy Zane. As each of his schemes are uncovered, Marisa feels more and more disappointed and frustrated that he is trying to trick her, but at the same time she ends up developing greater and greater affection for him and realizing that he is actually a sweet and charming guy drops the fortune-telling prediction and decides to follow her heart.
7 It doesn't get any better then this....
This has to be one of my fave movies of all time. I love Robert Downey Jr. If he still looked this good-check please-I would take him home any night. I honestly believe this is the most romantic movie i have ever seen, a clear cut between comedy and romance. Anyone can relate to any of the characters. I love Marisa as Faith, you can easily compare her to yourself or any other romantic girl walking this earth. Faith is looking for a name she got off an ouigi board that is supposed to be her destiny, now like myself i believe in fate, destiny, soul mates etc so watching this movie is like taking a trip down a lane i know i will someday walk into . If you are a die hard romantic, looking for a few laughs(there ARE many in this film) and a story to enlighten your soul and give you faith to find your soul mate, watch this!.. it is certainly worth a few dollars.
8 Buy it, watch it, love it!!!
I love this movie. On a rainy day, with nothing to do, curl up on the couch and feel good. What a great movie to lose yourself in. If you believe that there is just one person for you, if you ever believed in destiny....this is the movie for you. Take it at face value, don't over analyze it. Just love it. Both Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr. were never better.
9 What am I missing???
I don't really understand all the favorable reviews of this movie. Let me list the things I like:
Marisa Tomei's opening scene in the classroom
The beautiful scenery
The allusion made by her name--Faith
The rest of this movie was a huge disappointment to me. Especially as I was expecting something of the same calibur as Sleepless in Seattle, which lot's of people compare this to. First of all, a ridiculous plot. Who would fly half way around the world because of a NAME of someone you were supposed to marry?!? Secondly, Peter (aka, Damon 1) claims to be in love with Faith after knowing her less than 24 hours. And alleged feelings seem actually to be only sexual chemistry. Not much basis for a long term relationship between "soulmates." Yes, I know they had some common interests. So what? I have common interests with hundreds of people, some of which I might be attracted to--not really enough reason to declare lifelong devotion after only a few hours. The premise of this movie does exactly what Kate (Faith's sister-in-law) claims that movies do. They paint a picture of a false reality. I know all movies do so, but most movies don't claim NOT to. And if this is someone's idea of reality, pity to them. Wake up! Love is much deeper and more multi-faceted than this farce of "divine predestination." Of course, as a good Calvinist, I believe every event is predestined--both good AND bad. However, not every predestined relationship will be all asparkle with sentimentality and unbridled passion.
10 One of the best romantic comedies
This is one of the best romantic comedies! The age-old concept of star-crossed lovers is beautifully portrayed by the always charming and talented Robert Downey Jr. and the wonderful Marisa Tomei. It's a must see for all romantic comedy lovers.
11 Don't pass up this movie
In most of the reviews I've read on this movie, people point out the highlights of Robert Downey, Jr. and Marisa Tomei, as they should. Both of the stars of this film are definitely worth watching (however cheesy they may get). What people also recognize is Bonnie Hunt in a fabulous best friend role that you will make you think of your best friend.
The other great parts of this film are some of the supporting actors. Fisher Stevens is hilarious as Kate's roofer husband who can't believe his wife is in "It-ly" as he pronounces the ever so romantic country. People also neglect mentioning Giovanni (Joaquim De Almeida), the man who tries to woo the married Kate (Bonnie Hudson). He does the perfect foreign playboy role. And, of course, you've got Billy Zane in the cast to mix things up.
The cast all complement each other and this is one of those movies that girls should really watch together to bond. Guys will think its ok since it does have some funny parts. Overall, this is a chick flick but its a very good chick flick.
12 A Zany Romantic Comedy
In this beautifully filmed story, Faith (Marisa Tomei) is getting ready to marry a successful podiatrist when Damon Bradley, the man of her dreams calls up to speak to her fiance. Damon's a man that she's never met; however, as a young girl in a game of Ouija board, she asked the name of the man that she would marry. The answer was Damon Bradley. Faith probably would have ignored that, but several years later, she's again given the same name by a Gypsy fortuneteller. She feels that she can't ignore the phone call and takes off for Italy to meet Damon Bradley who she thinks may be her soul mate.
Bonnie Hunt is charming in the part of Kate, Faith's sister-in-law. She flies to Rome with her because she thinks that Faith is nuts to do something so reckless and dangerous. Kate's own marriage is lacking in romance and she's thrown off balance when a dashing Italian gigolo pursues her.
The scenery is breathtaking and beautiful in Italy and Faith meets several attractive men in her search for Damon Bradley. Robert Downey Jr.is endearing in the roll of a shoe salesman, and Marisa Tomei has never been more attractive.
Very enjoyable and fun!
13 Some enchanted evening....
That is what it is when you watch this movie. Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey, Jr. has such chemistry it's hard to believe they're not a couple in real life. Tomei plays Faith, an engaged woman chasing her destiny all the way to Italy. Unbeknownst to her, Downey IS her destiny. This movie really makes you believe in true love, destiny, and that one special someone. See it with someone you love.
And I personally love all of Downey's works--but I'm biased. To me, there is no better talent in this movie. And he is so good looking! I fell in love with him too!
14 ~*Destiny*~
I only saw this movie once in HBO and I feel in love with it!
This is a movie about a 11 year old girl named Faith(marisa tomie) who goes to a fortne-teller and tells her that her 'soul-mate' will a be guy named, Damon Bradly. Then 14 years later a few days before her wedding she got a call from a mysterious man that says that Damon Bradly is in Rome! So she cancels everything and take her best friend with her to find him. Then when they where casing a man so called 'Damon Bradly'While chasing Faith drops her shoe and then so called Damon Bradly chases after her and gives her shoe back. Then he says that he is Damon Bradly!
This movie is perfect for people who love action, romance, people who follow there heart and TRUE LOVE.
15 Can you ever give Robert Downey Jr. less than 4 stars?
This movie lost a star because, in truth, I found Marisa Tomei's character to be a bit over the top. She believes in fate, and that a ouji game when she was eleven proffered the name of her future husband. And so many years later, she ends up all the way in Rome to find the man with this name -- the man of her dreams. (By this time she's engaged, but the guy is schmuck, so it's really not important).
This is a hokey premise, even for me, and I always love the hokey romantic comedies. After the first 20 minutes, I almost gave up. But then the lovely Robert Downey Jr. graced the screen and reminded me why I watch reruns of Ally McBeal on F/X. He's sweet, he's charming, he's fantastically charismatic. He spends this movie doing his best to charm Marisa Tomei into falling in love with him, resorting to some not-so-honest tricks. Normally this would be a little too stalkerish, but somehow, Robert just makes it work.
So if you like romantic comedies and their highly predictable endings, and especially if you dig Robert, you'll like this movie. (Oh and it also has Bonnie Hunt -- from Jerry McGuire and Return to Me -- another good reason to check it out).
16 i cry every time i watch it
i really reallly think you should go and rent this movie and after you've rented it you'll wanna watch it over and over again you never get sick out it and i cry every time as it's never out of my video Rober doweny Jnr is great in it and marisa tomei is fab and the setting is great
17 Great movie!
This is one of the best romantic comedies I have seen, perfect for a first date.
18 disappointing and corny
I was truly disappointed by this movie. I rented it because I mistakenly thought that this was the movie that Marisa Tomei won an Oscar for as Best Actress. After watching it all the way through, I suddenly realized that it was My Cousin Vinny that she won for. Now, I'm as romantic as the next person, but this movie was so sappy that it was unrealistic and stupid. Marisa Tomei's performance in this movie and her performance in My Cousin Vinny are like black and white. In Only You, she takes off on a whim to chase after some guy named Damon Bradley, only 10 days before her wedding. Romantic? Sure! But the way she plays it out is ridiculous. Call me a cynic, but she makes herself way too vulnerable to the men she encounters in Italy. I'm glad I saw My Cousin Vinny first because, after her performance in Only You, it would take a lot for me to see her in any other movie.
19 I will stop what I'm doing to watch this movie...
I saw this in the theater years ago, and thus began my adoration. (Yikes, has it been 7 years already?!)
In the realm of romantic-comedies, "Only You" goes above and beyond the "formula". Yes, you get the whirlwind romance, great funny dialogue, and enough surprises to make it hard to guess the ending. BUT! You also get so much more:
- dreamy Italian settings. Forget Rick Stevens, I didn't know Venice & Positano could be look so magical and luxurious.
- a supporting cast that nearly steals the show. Bonnie Hunt and her skill for honest (thus, funny) delivery brings the credibility to the movie. Her style of speaking is so "real-life", you forget that the whole movie relies on a shaky premise of the faux psychic and a plastic ouija board.
- and a surprisingly underestimated chemistry between Tomei and Downey. Case in point: Peter helping Faith dress for her date, and he's walking around her room realizing it may be their last time together.
Lots of great comic moments and sheer romance. I'm sorry more people haven't seen it!
20 so romantic.....
I LOVE this movie!!!! Robert downey jr. and Marisa Tomei look very sweet together. My friebns didn't like this movie at all, but if you fancy romantic movies, you'll like this one!
21 I was born to kiss you!!!
I absolutely love this movie!! The unexpected twist makes it even better. The sincerity of Marisa's character, Faith, reminds us that destiny or not, we can find love. Downey's performance was a perfect match with Tomei, the chemisty between them was there. Watching this movie made me realize that anything is possible in Italy, or anywhere we want love to happen at. Makes me want to travel to Italy just to replay the scenes! Watch it and pretend this happened to you and you will realize how great this movie really is!
22 Only You - Chemistry Galore
Ever wonder why some movies hit that special spot and other make you snooze. Well, a lot of that has to do with chemistry. Chemistry between actors and the originality of the plot all combine to make a movie either a hit or a dud. Only You, succeeds on that front do to the fact that Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr. have that connection that most of us only dream of. And of course what better way to make full use of the chemistry, but set your story in the most romantic country on Earth, Italy. This very original and witty plot follows Faith, the young school teacher, as she flies half way around the world in search of her true love. Thrown in, are wonderful panoramas of the Italian Lanscape and little subplots to make the whole experience even more enchanting. Hopeless romantics will certainly watch this entertaining movie with awe and envy, as the star crossed lovers search for ways to please, tease & win over the heart of their true love. Watch this with someone you care for and plan your next trip to the most wonderful place in the world to fall in Love...
23 In Parts - Fantastic.
Let's first make one thing clear: As movies go, I think this is probably one of the very worst romantic comedies I have ever seen. That said, I would still recommend it! Why? Well, it is rescued by two things: a really great performance by Marisa Tomei and a movie that is literally filed with some of the most gorgeous and compelling scenes of Italy. Don't watch this movie unless you are prepared to consider moving to Tuscany!
24 so cute!
Marisa Tomei is so funny. In this movie she goes running after her supposed soulmate and finds something else instead. Robert Downey Jr. is always amazing, but I don't think these two had the greatest chemistry. That doesn't take away from the story, though. There's another side story going on with Bonnie Hunt, who plays Marisa's sister, and her husband, played by Fisher Stevens. It all ends on a happy note, ofcourse, but the journey is enjoyable.
25 This is the world's best movie!
This is the best movie in the world. It's a great romance story and parts of it are hysterical. I LOVE this movie.
26 Warm, sappy, and fun!
One of the best things about this movie was the beautiful setting. It was filmed in Venice, and there were some seriously magnificent shots. It made me wish I could just pick up and go there for a weekend, like Faith and Kate did.
The movie begins with Faith as a girl, playing with a Ouiji board. She asks who her soulmate is, and it gives her the name Damon Bradley. All her life, she waits to find him, but is unsuccessful. Marisa Tomei does an excellent job portraying the naive dreamer, Faith. When a phone call turns out to be a lead on discovering her soulmate, Faith and Kate fly to Venice, hoping to find him...ten days before Faith is supposed to marry the wrong man. In Venice, Faith runs into Peter Wright *literally* who chases her down to return her shoe. The moment she bumps into him, he falls in love with her! Seeing it as his only opportunity to get to know her, Peter (played by Robert Downey Jr.) pretends to be Damon.
I won't spoil the ending, but I will say this movie really made me smile. It's a great chick flick for those of us who love romance movies.
27 Wonderful!
This has to be one of THE best movies I have ever seen. It definately has not got the publicity it deserves. It's funny, charming and romantic. Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jnr. are FANTASTIC and the storyline is just as good. An especially good Valentine's movie, but brilliant any time! Get it and don't miss out!
P.S. Italy is beautiful! The Italian tourist board should thank the makers of Only You - It has persuaded me to go to Italy sometime!!!
28 Your my man Robert!
Only You is a light romantic comedy movie with an intruiging storyline. It is about a girl who is convinced her soulmate is a man named Damen Bradley. She meets Damen Bradley, the shoesales person (RDJ) when she goes searching for him. But the turning point of the story is when Damen turns out to be not who she thinks he is. Need I say Robert Downey Jr is the best actor ever (talented and good-looking), and he delivers yet again a brilliant performance in this movie. Though this story has a rather predictable ending (like most love movies) I have to say if you're a Robert fan (like me) and even if you're not, this is the movie to watch- entertaining and one of his best films
29 Fall In Love With This Film - I Did
What can I say? Perfect cast, setting, music, beautiful story - this film has absolutely everything I could possibly want. Robert Downey Jr is so believeable, you could cry. When he's hurt, you feel it. When he turns on those steps, to try to reach her just one more time - who hasn't done the same? Quiet, sensitive touches by him are what is so memorable and outstanding.
Marisa Tomei also deserves applause. Her character is likeable, sweet, but not 'sacchariny'. Everyone pulls together to make a precious jewel of a film - the one I'll always put on at the end of a long, cold day to make me feel HUMAN again.
All time favourite.
30 The Best Romance (Written In The Stars)
For anyone who dreams of meeting that special someone at that right moment, this is the movie for you! The romance of Peter and Faith (Robert Downey, Jr. and Marisa Tomei) is what people dream about. Simply bumping into the person in Rome, and soon finding yourselves in love is so idealistic, you have have to stop and remind yourself that it is just a movie. However, it makes you wonder - is there that one person out there just for us and it's just a matter time before you find them? It's such a beautiful and this movie only makes it come true. A romance written in the stars is truly a romance worth having!
31 a very charming movie
The story of a young woman (Marisa Tomei) who travels all the way to Italy to search for her soulmate even though she is getting married in days. All the performers are great especially Bonnie Hunt. I hope she wins some awards someday. Beautiful scenery of Italy is wonderfully captured in this great looking DVD. Nothing happening in the 5.1 surround sound but again this is not "Die Hard" kind of movies. Get this, you won't be sorry.
32 The Best!
I decided to rent this movie knowing nothing about it. I loved it sooo much I watched it 5 days in a row. It's even my boyfriends favorite movie now. If you liked Return To Me, You've Got Mail or Runaway Bride you will fall in love with this one. It is funny and romantic. A five star movie for anyone!
33 VERY charming, enjoyable comedy
Both Robert Downey Jr. and Marissa Tomei are so adorable in this charming comedy. I truly enjoyed it and hope that one day, they will make another film together. This is the type of film you can watch when you're in the mood for a romantic comedy that can take you away to Italy.
34 ABSOLUTELY MUST SEE!
This is really one of my favorite movies ever. It's beyond cheesy and about as predictable as they come, but you'll eat ever minute up with a spoon. Definitely one of those movies that makes you want to be in love.
35 In a word - fantastic
Hiding this film behind the meagre claim of a 'romantic comedy' only goes to show how underrated this movie is. It's a real piece of heaven watching Downey Jr. yet again being just plain brilliant. There was a real on-screen chemistry between Downey Jr. and Tomei that made this 'romantic comedy' one of the best. Light-hearted but genuinely moving (it had me in tears by the end), i'm an even bigger fan of Downey than i was before. Fab.
36 MUST SEE
one of the best movies ever made - sure it's predicitable but you'll love every second of it
37 A movie that will make you look for your own "soulmate"
This movie, Only You makes you ponder on the questions, Is there someone out there for me? Do I really have a soulmate? This movie centers around the world of Faith, a woman who from her early childhood to her mature world, believes that the name from an Ouiji board when she was 11, Damon Bradley, is really the one for her. So on the day that she's trying on her wedding dress with her best friend, she receives a call from a friend of her fiance who is named Damon Bradley. Finding out that this is the Damon that she's looking for, together with her friend, they went to Italy to track this guy down. And who would she meet there, but the real "Mr. Right" for her.Robert Downey Jr. at his cutest role yet with Marisa Tomei who potrayed the role of a superstitious woman to a T. The best romantic movie for me ever. The supporting casts were just right for their parts.
38 Love vs Fate
For anyone who has grappled with the idea of destiny, this is the movie for you. Marisa Tormei plays Faith, a woman who is about to marry a pediatrist after resigning to the fact that he wasn't Damon Bradley, her ''destiny''. One day Damon calls and askes for her fiance, and Faith's world is blown to pieces. Taking her unhappily married best friend and sister and law with her to Italy, she seeks out Damon and encounters her true love instead. Robert Downey jr is her real match, but because his name isn't Damon, he doesn't qualify. This movie delves into the complicated world of a romantic who always believed in destiny over love, never stopping to realize that her true fate rested within a shoe salemen from Boston, not a man named Damon Bradley.
39 actress and actor
I just want to pre-review it. I like the love movie. hope you can understand
40 A FEEL GOOD MOVIE!
I WATCHED THIS VIDEO ONLY BECAUSE I CONSIDER MYSELF AS THE #1MARISA TOMEI FAN. IN ADDITION TO THAT,I WAS ALSO PLEASED WITH THE STORY.
41 A FEEL GOOD MOVIE!
I WATCHED THIS VIDEO ONLY BECAUSE I CONSIDER MYSELF AS THE #1MARISA TOMEI FAN. IN ADDITION TO THAT,I WAS ALSO PLEASED WITH THE STORY.
42 Please
I love sappy, cheesy romances (I know movies like Sleepless in Seattle and You've Got Mail by heart), but this was a bit much to handle. From scene one, its stupid and predictable. The dialogue was primitive. The fact that I spend a wonderful semester in Rome and Positano, Italy is one of my favorite places in the world was not enough to save this movie for me. I'd encourage my fellow romantics to pass on this one.
43 Almost As Beautiful As "Rome Adventure"!!!!
I loved the sweetness, the tenderness, and the scenery in this movie. Tough words for a Vietnam vet to utter, but it is truly wonderful. I loved it almost as much as "Rome Adventure", the difference being I never got over falling in love with Suzanne Pleshette.
44 awsome performance by Tomei and Downey jr!!!
I just loved this comedy with its orginal script and views. Right after watching it, you want to jump on plane ad fly to Italy!! Robert Downey has never been cuter before, and his performance is great. So is Marisa Tomei's. I truly recommend this movie. It's worth watching!
45 everybody should see this movie...
...at leats once! I abosolutely LOVED this movie, it is so sweet, and so perfect! Don't waste another minute, see it!
46 cute, and Romantic
Guess what>? I fell asleep right before the ending and missed about the last ten minutes. What happened and did faith end up with So called Damon> (robert Downey jr?) Was his real name Damon Bradley? Im aching to find out!
47 SO ROMANTIC!!!
This movie has not received the attention it deserves! This is a story has it all: good friends, sweet romance, hilarious scenarios, and most importantly, self-discovery. The scenery is stunning, the costumes are gorgeous, and the beautiful Italian operatic music is enthralling. All the characters are funny and endearing, insights are given that make the viewer come to like and understand each player. Faith almost settles for the wrong man, but mounting pre-wedding jitters and a trick played on her as a girl propel her into the adventure of a lifetime. Her sister-in-law comes along for the ride, both to keep Faith out of trouble and to iron out her own feelings about her troubled marriage. Spontaneity pays off in the long run for both women as they learn about love and life. Robert Downey, Jr. plays a convincing, funny, charming, heart-warming hero willing to do anything to get (and keep) the girl! Warning: you'll want to travel to Italy after viewing this film!
48 One word - FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Since I have already commented on this movie weeks ago this isn't my comment on the movie! If you want to see it, I'm sure it's on the computer that you have some where! THE REASON I am commenting right now is because I'm not saying Downey should cast another Only You movie but please why can't you producers, directors or whoever makes movies do another movie, theme or topic related to Only you. Something along that field. I want to see more movies filmed it Italy. But that's just a preference, I want to see more movies with an Only you theme. Not just a regular love story like You've Got Mail, a detailed one like Only you! I will watch it! But all these producers probably care about is how much money it will make and the best looking actors & actresses you can get to play in it! Well if someone created Only You, please can someone do it again. Not the exact same movie, just a similiar type...PLEASE!
49 Quirky romance with a dazzling duo of stars!
This funny movie is one you'll love if you like witty dialogue, great acting,(Marisa and Robert are a great team),and exciting costumes. Marisa's clothes were beautiful. It's a family movie, so you can relax and put down the remote. No fast-forwarding here! Well, you may find yourself...rewinding. One of my favorite scenes is when Robert helps Marisa get ready for a date with someone else and gives her the items BEFORE she asks for them. Then he sprays some of her perfume in the air then holds the bottle to his nose as if he were holding her. Be still my romantic heart! I hope these two team up again for another romantic comedy. Enjoy!!!!
50 If you're not in love, you'll fall in love with Only You!
Only You is a great movie that couldn't have been filmed better. It showed how two people got together and they weren't even looking for each other. It just goes to show that once you know that your destiny is around, you can't wait until it comes to you, you actually have to go out and find it! And what better place to find in then the most beautiful country around, Italy. The actors and actresses were great and they fit into the whole "love scene" of Italy and the comedy. The movie is very romantic and it can touch any heart, in love or not in love. This movie can melt you. This movie can teach someone a lot of things. You can either believe in fate and destiny or not. But whatever your choice, Only You taught me that it doesn't matter what you choose because your one true soul mate could be anyone and could be anywhere. If you're not in love, you'll fall in love with this truly, beautiful, romantic comedy Only You.
51 This movie makes you wonder what your destiny is
I enjoy this movie because it is humorous and romantic. Robert Downey Jr. and Marisa Tomei make a great pair. My favorite line from the movie is "I know he would kill tigers for you." You will love this movie if you have enjoyed other Marisa Tomei movies and if you like Robert Downey Jr. If you believe in soul mates or destiny be sure to watch this movie.
52 It is written in the stars ! ! !
Only the beauty of Italy can match the charm and stunning smile of Marisa Tomei. ". . . the stars will be jealous." The witty and hillarious scene stealer, Bonnie Hunt is at her peak. "Only you" is the european summer love story only movies could tell. Don't expect much on the "extras" side of the disk, unfortunately. Don't worry, you'll watch this heartwarming comedy over and over again.
53 Love on the run
Marisa Tormei plays a woman who was told by a fortune teller the name of the man she would marry. She doesn't find him until just days before her wedding to another man when he calls to wish her husband-to-be good luck! Calling off the wedding, she chases him around Europe in an attempt to find the the love of her life, taking with her her best friend. Finally, she meets him in Rome, and the romance is instant. But that's only the beginning...! A wonderful tale of romance, "Only You" will not only show you love, it will show you Rome, Venice, and France! END
