1 Keep on Looking
We decided to spend a little more money and go with a cordless phone that we could expand with. Along with this phone we purchase two additional handsets. What a big mistake. In less than a year, the LCD screen on two of the handsets doesn't work(no caller ID, previous caller etc.). The battery on the other handset doesn't hold a charge or indicates that you're out of range, get closer to the base.. when you're standing right next to it.

Needless to say we were very disappointed and are once again phone shopping.
2 Works great & good price
I purchased this unit several months ago and found it to be as described. I guess I must have got a good one as I have to turn down the handset volume to mid-level even with the TV on and kids running around the room. Corded unit is clear and speakerphone is convenient. Both range and battery life have been more than satisfactory. One note is that the speakerphone is not as good as the several hundred dollar unit I use at work in the conference room - but I wouldn't expect that. Price it out on the web for around $100.00
3 Good phone
I must have got a good one or something after reading some of the reviews. Mine works great, no problems. Of all the cordless phones I have had in the past, this one has more distance in between the base and extension than any of them, much farther than the 5.8 ghz phone I have in the shop. For the money, I don't think you can beat it. I've got much more expensive phones that don't work half as good as this one.
4 Mediocre
I use this phone mainly for the speakerphone feature (for conference calls). My review is purely based on the base unit since I did not hook up the cordless handset. For this price, I expected a good speakerphone but it'll only pick up my voice when I'm talking within 2 feet. I've tried several speakerphones, and I thought I found what I need in this but was disappointed. Bought it at Staples for $150 and planning to return it, and get a cheaper phone (value for money). Features that I liked about this phone are the caller-id, and mute feature. Overall this phone is ok, but not for the price I paid for.
5 Display Problem Solved!!!
FIVE STARS if it weren't for one key problem ...the display goes blank and stays blank.

However the great news is ...there is a reliable fix for this problem. Unlike other comments in this feedback forum, the fix is not simply to replace the original Ni-Cd batteries with the new Ni-MH batteries. The second key finding of my problem solving was that the remote cordless phone's recharge-base electrical cord and power supply can come loose from the wall outlet and cause a weak and irregular trickle of power to the phone while it looks like it is charging. My advise to anyone that has or is interested in buying this phone system is to replace the Ni-Cd Panasonic batteries with a Ni-MH (ex. Energizer ER-P511) batteries as soon as possible, even if you have to discard like-new Ni-Cd batteries. Secondly and just as importantly ensure that your charging-base power cord is very securely plugged into the wall outlet. If your phones are not new, then make certain that the `metal-to-metal' components of the charging-base and the cordless phones are clean. Also make certain the springs that are located inside the cordless handset battery compartment, which contact the battery are clean.

The combination of the power-cord problem and the Ni-Cd (memory sensitive) batteries causes early failure of this type of battery. The low-power battery then causes problems with the phones. The worse problem is that you totally lose the display, but other problems such as short-talk time and call-disconnect can also occur. The Ni-MH batteries and the power cord wall connection-check will make this phone system GREAT!

6 Great for what I wanted, disappointed in Quality
I purchased this phone 1 year ago this month. It was what I thought was the perfect solution. A corded phone with matching cordless phones, (my system came with 2 cordless phones)& it was expandable, plus I didn't need to have a phone jack to plug in the cordless phones, just an electrical outlet for the chargers. About 4 months after purchase, the "Number 2" cordless phone wouldn't work. It wouldn't charge, I couldn't answer the phone using this handset & it keeps saying I have to move closer to the base, even when I am sitting right next to it. Now it doesn't work at all. The answering machine was okay & not to difficult to use, I also like the other features. I thought I would go back to the store where I purchased it & return it for another one just like it or send the bad handset in to be fixed, but after reading reviews from people who have had problems also, I am just going to return it for a different system.
7 Not good enough
I bought this phone for my family with 2 additional handsets.
I liked the idea that the base unit is NOT cordless, so the kids will not be able to "loose" the phone in the house.
Biggest problem: The base unit volume is way too low in speakerphone mode and when you lift the handset.
Another problem is the timestamp that comes at the end of each message.
In addition, it is too easy to erase numbers/messages by mistake...
The only other problem we have is with the cordless units:
If the speakerphone volume on the cordless unit was left at max, many times when you turn it back on, the (battery voltage drops too low and the) phone "dies" and lose connection with the base.
You can't lower the volume unless you charge the phone more...
The TG2770 is quite expensive and should not have issues like that!
8 Good but...
I bought mine almost 10 months ago because of the good reputation of Panasonic phones. My parents have one that still works after 6 years, no battery replacement. I am fairly happy with the features, I hoped for an on/off ringer switch, without having to go through the menu. The design is not bad but it's not even close to the cool phones in Europe. It's big and it has a big antenna. And yes, the antenna is visible. The biggest problem that I have with the unit is the battery. After only 6 months I have noticed that although looks fully charged, it only lasts around 30 minutes. Sometimes I stay more on the phone when I work from home.

I'm kind of disappointed. On top of this, the reception is not great. From living to bedroom the reception deteriorates significantly.

Will I buy another Panasonic? I guess so but after I have tried another brand. This cannot be the best phone on the market.

9 works for me
We bought this phone several months ago and have not had a single problem with it. The extra handset works great and the main phone, even though it is set up where it "technically" isn't supposed to be, works fine.

We have voice mail so we do not use the answering machine part therefore I cannot comment on that. But the rest of it works great. I particularly like the different rings you can choose for each phone. Makes it much less "intrusive" when it rings. And with a baby, that is VERY nice.
10 Absolutely the Worst Phone; Terrible
This is the worst phone for the money I have ever owned. I agree with the earlier reviewer that the handset caller ID works only about 30% of the time, and for the money, the features are not that great. I will never buy another Panasonic phone again.

I also have the extra handset for this, which works poorly. Half the time, I pick it up and say, "Hello," and it beeps and says, "No connection to base." My friends are sick of me saying, "Hold on, I'm having a problem with my phone." I have a $10 model that works better. Defintely don't buy this.

11 Fantastic
I bought this phone a few months ago. It's fantastic. I havent had any problems with it. All the functions work perfectly and it does things, like allowing you to easily check messages from the extention phone, that go beyond anything you would likely need. Caller id shows up after one or two rings, as is typical. Phone sound is good. Battery finally ran out on extention phone after about a week of not being charged. Really great phone. Highly recommended.
12 Problem with Caller ID
We got this phone system so my husband and I could use the intercom feature to talk to each other from opposite sides of the house. Works great for this purpose. However, on the cordless handset, the caller ID doesn't show up until after 3 rings, then you have to hurry & answer it before the answering system kicks in. My husband ended up having two different cordless phones on his desk; one for the intercom and another one so he can see the Caller ID display. What a pain in the neck!! I e-mailed customer support at Panasonic a couple of weeks ago and have heard NOTHING from them.
UPDATE: 3/17/04 - We still had no reply to our e-mail, so we called the toll free customer service number. They guided us through the steps to change the "Line Mode" from the factory setting of B to A. This solved the caller ID problem. They still should have responded to my e-mail, but I'm changing my rating from 3 stars to 4. I'm pretty satisfied with the phone now.
13 Low Volume, Defective Battery, and Horrible Customer Service
Good: customizable ring tones for both handset and corded phone, intercom function, 3 different mail boxes for each family member, good reception, voice mail check and speaker phone function from handset

Bad: no distinctive ring function, horribly low volume, time stamp after each message as another user described.

I have used the headset with my Motorola cell phone headphone because the volume is too low. I have used Panasonic headset in the past with another Panasonic phone. It even lowered the volume and it was easily broke so I do not use it any more.

Over all, I think this product is ok except low volume but it is very pricey, considering all the facts.
------------------------------
Update: After using it for about 3 months, the battery ran out 5-15 minutes of use. I have contacted Panasonic to resolve the issue but still have not received the replacement over a month.

There are other problems with this phone that I discovered but have not been able to test because I do not have the battery.

There is a class action going on with this product:

14 Best house phone system
I have this phone and two additional exapandable phones. The corded phone works great in the kitchen. The best part is the kids can't misplace the phone so at least one phone is always where it should be! Saving phone numbers is easy. The speaker phone on the hanndset and master phone is very convenient!
15 Good phone, worthless battery!
The system is excellent regarding the quality of the calls and the features that it offers. On the contrary, the NiCad batteries do not last as advertised and quickly develop "charge memory" rendering the whole system useless. In my case, I bought the base and three extra handsets with dual line and answering system. This represents approximately a $500.00 investment on useless equipment due to a faulty battery.

Panasonic should make a recall and replace all NiCad batteries free of charge. Do not buy this phone unless the battery issues have been solved.

16 Sugar-coated low quality product product
My 5 yr old ATT tapeless answering machine (that costed $19) was broken and I needed a speaker phone. And I thought this this phone would be a good choice, because it LOOKed nice and had a good brand-name.
First, answering machine: Time-stamp for each message is spoken at the end of the message. This is an annoyance. If you want to delete the message you have to listen to the end of the message to know when the call was made. And the you come back to the message and then delete. Why time stamp is not spoken in the beginning of the message ? The recording quality is not good. Much worse than my ATT. You can immediately recognize it as the voice from a robot or a cyborg. Well, not *that* bad, but very close. Remote operation security code has only two digits. This is bad. I think that it should be at least three digit.
And as a phone, it is OK for the base set. But the cordless hand set has some problems and thus almost useless in many cases. My major problem is that the volume is not big enough even with the highest setting. So, you will have to use it in relatively calm place. I wasn't able to use it in kitchen with water flowing from faucet, for example.

In summary, this is a low quality product sugar-coated with good looking facial design and brand name.
I am returning it.

This could have been two starts, but considering the high price, it is definitely one star.

17 My Opinion on this product
I recently purchased this item Panasonic Expandable 2.4 GHz Corded/Cordless Digital Answering System Model# KX-TG2770-S.....This phone/answering system is a little pricey but worth it, this system has a lot of nice features, and is easy to use....The only feature that I would improve on is the sound quality of the answering system, it's digital and has a sort of scratchy sound quality, that could use some improvement, this probably occurs because of the digital feature being tapeless an all....It would have a much better sound quality if it had a tape instead....The overall sound quality is clear for a cordless phone, the volume feature is nice also, along w/ all the other features....I would recommend this phone for anyone who needs both a cordless/corded phone/answering system this phone has a lot of other capabilities as far as extra handsets and so forth, I give this system 2 thumbs up!....
18 Great expandable phone system!
I purchased this Panasonic product to replace a Sony corded/cordless combination phone when the cordless went south. I had some trepidation about the Panasonic product because I have heard of the high return rate at the local electronic stores. I have used this phone and 4 additional expansion phones for about a month and I must say this is the best sound quality I have heard from a 2.4 GHz system. In fact, the best sound quality from any cordless I've used! I really like the speaker phone on the cordless: great for when calling those automated systems and get put on hold forever! The messages can be checked from the cordless units, and with the caller ID function, you can review who called and send the number to be stored in the directory (memory)! Lots of features to justify the price. The only recomendation I have for Panasonic is to include the capability to delete messages from the handsets. I also recommend the cordless expansion unit with the built in alarm clock. Works great and looks good too. One small unit takes the place of two in the bedroom. Overall, a really great system and I have not experienced any problems in the first month of using them. The phones can be found cheaper at E-tronics however.
