2.4 GHz FHSS (frequency-hopping digital spread spectrum) * 4-line backlit LCD shows Call Waiting Caller ID info (where available; subscription required) * illuminated keypad * silver finish * 50-entry personal directory * 50 Caller ID memories * NiCad rechargeable battery with 11-day standby life * base/charger * warranty: 1 year
The KX-TGA270S from Panasonic is an add-on extension handset designed for use with KX-TG2700S, KX-TG2720S, KX-TG2730S, or KX-TG2740S Expandable Cordless Systems. By utilizing the 2.4 GHz frequency band, as well as Frequency Hopping Digital Spread Spectrum (FHSS) technology, the KX-TGA270S provides crisp, clear reception even at significant distance from the base.
An illuminated keypad makes dialing easy in the dark, while a headset jack gives you the option of hands-free operation. Four-way conferencing allows you to talk with multiple people, while a two-way intercom lets you communicate with family and friends near the other phone.
With call waiting, you won't miss any important calls, while Caller ID (with subscription to telephone company services) means you can avoid those calls you would rather miss. A great way to expand your current Panasonic phone system, the KX-TG2700S also features six selectable ring tones as well as a handset volume control. Panasonic also provides a one-year parts and labor warranty.
1 Would be Perfect if Batteries Lasted Longer
I have had this system with 7 extensions for roughly three years. Unfortunately, the batteries must be replaced every 14 months or so. However, the system excels in every other regard. Reception is static free and crystal clear - better than some corded phones I have had. And while I have not researched the market lately, at the time I bought this system, it was the only 2.4Ghz or better system on the market that could accomodate 2 phone lines on a multiphone cordless system. Fearing that if the base station ever broke, I would have flushed about $700 down the toilet, I actually bought a second base station which still sits in its box in my closet, since the original base station has performed without a hitch. The ability to transmit stored phone numbers or entire phone lists from one handset to the others is a nice feature. This system also allows for conference calling, separate voicemail boxes, and many features that I have never even bothered to learn to use. To me, the many pluses make it worth the investment in replacement batteries, which can always be found relatively chep on the web.
2 Too bad there is not a lemon for list for phones
We have 8 of these phones and are extremely carefull about the dreaded memory effect and they still are awful!!! The displays fade in and out at will....whether they are fully charged or not. We have one phone that will last all of one dialing fully charged. We bought new batteries for these and started all over, not charging until the phone was completely dead. Same results as before. HEY Panasonic...these are the most terrible phones we have ever had.
3 Doesn't hold a charge and is breaks fast
This is a very poor product from Panasonic. I have always purchased Panasonic cordless phones and had great luck. This unit met all my specifications. I was so excited when I ordered it.
You cannot leave it off the charging station more than a couple hours or the batteries need to charge over night.
Within 6 months 2 units were returned for repair. 6 months later they were bad again but the warranty was up.
For the price I paid I should be writing a glowing review, instead I'm telling you to stay away from this product. It's no good and I'll never trust Panasonic again.
4 We absolutely hate this phone system (Really 0 stars)
Oh, let us count the ways:
1) The battery life, as everyone mentions, is horrible. I suspect their recharging unit is not very smart, and thus they kill the batteries thanks to overcharging due to the so-called battery 'memory effort,' but I do not know this fer sure. The battery in one phone has now died on us, one is now so faint you can barely hear it, and the last one doesn't recharge much, and dies within the span of a 10 minute conversation when 'fully' charged.
2) There is also a short in the system, possibly related to the bad battery life, that results in the LCD screen blanking out when the phone is on the charger, and it only sometimes comes back alive. This makes the nice Caller ID LCD feature often useless.
3) They are NOT at all cheap for this level of crappiness. We decided to spring for what we thought were 'high-end' phones and got a terrible phone instead.
We will probably try to find the Energizer ER-P511 batteries to see if that solves our problems. But I'm tempted to go back to old but far more reliable phones. Alas, if only our cell phones worked in the house. (DON'T get me started on that one...)
5 Good features, very weak battery life
I like the features of this phone. particularly the speaker phone, strong reception even far from the base station, overall look and feel. The achilles heel of this system is the very weak battery life. The cordless handset is frequently completely out of juice and will not even ring.
Also, the answering system on the base station is not very reliable. My previous answering system was an old tape-based Panasonic model that - while archaic - worked much better. The new system rarely erases all the messages. Also the ringer volume on the base station is not very high.
6 Fix for battery life problem
The battery life is very poor in these phones after you have had them for a few months. To fix the problem, get Energizer ER-P511 batteries. These are Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries that are designed to replace the low-quality batteries that come with these phones.
After installing these batteries, we have seen battery life improve greatly.
7 There is a fix for the battery life problem
We experienced the same problems everybody else is reporting about the short battery life. But it turns out that if you clean the contacts on the battery, the springs, and on the bottom of the phone with alcohol, and insert some cardboard between the non-contact end of the battery and the wall of the battery compartment (thereby pushing the battery into the springs with more force), the battery problems go away. So, it's not the battery, charger, or power-management software--it's just a mechanical problem.
With that problem fixed, this is an excellent phone system.
(By the way, we're told that Uniden phones have excellent battery life.)
8 Poor battery performance
While this review is for the KX-TG2700 - it may apply to this phone as they look exactly alike and may be using the same battery.
Okay, here's how frustrated I am - I've logged into Amazon just so that I can complain about this phone system.
I purchased this system a little over a year ago and it has had two battery issues.
The first was with the handset that came with the base station - it would not hold a charge. Panasonic support - which was good - informed me that they were aware of the problem. Apparently the battery wasn't making solid contact so Panasonic sent me two pinky-sized pads with directions to stick them on the underside of the battery compartment. These pads were devised to assist with the seating of the battery and they seemed to work.
Fast forward a year later - second issue:
The handset is no longer holding a charge more than 20 minutes nor is the phone/clock radio (KX-TGA272). Normally, this would be annoying enough - but it gets better. Both phones go dead while showing 1/3 battery life remaining. This often happens while talking to someone. But my favorite part is when the phone/clock radio goes dead - it wipes out the time and alarm settings!
So...good luck with the batteries!
9 Good phone but batteries expensive to replace
We purchased the Panasonic cordless phone system with 4 handsets in October 2002. Being at home all day I use all 4 handsets about equally multiple times per day. Unlike other reviewers I have not had problems with calls being jeopardised by short battery life on a regular basis but I do recharge each handset every day. However the batteries needed replacing in August 2003 and now again I have had to order new batteries after just over a year. It does get rather expensive - I have paid around $12 per battery online.
Apart from concern about the longevity of the battery I am happy with the system - answering machine works well, good call quality, no intereference, etc.
I just wonder if other (newer) technology might have better battery life.
10 affected all my other phones
I ordered this phone as an extension for my base unit. I registered it and it worked fine for one day. The next day, all my phones were echoing and the new handset faded in and out and nobody could hear me on the new handset. I had to return it and deregister it, but my phones still haven't returned to the previous normal state. At this point, I don't know what to do.
11 NiMH Batteries Available for This Model
Like other reviews, I will complain that the battery life with the standard NiCad battery is not good, and the battery eventually fails prematurely. However, there are NiMh batteries with much better life and excellent performance available. I bought some energizer model no. ER-P511 and they work just great. They are drop-in replacements for the Panasonic handsets.
12 b@tt3ry lif3 will ownZ u
don't buy phone, bad battery, cause u lots of problems
13 Great Features but battery life is pathetic
It is a great phone with all those features. I alway enjoy the speaker phone on my cordless phone but of late, the battery life has gone down and now I have to keep it on the charger for all the time to make even couple of calls.
Is there a supliment battery that we can buy??
..updated on 06/29/04
Well just added another battery, you can buy it in Radio Shack or even online Panasonic.Com for $11 and my phone is back to normal. And as someone said correctly, I have been regularly using my phone with booster on. May be that was the reason. But if I lose this battery quickly then I will post it here but other wise I am giving 5 of 5 to this phone. Because battery is very very important thing and with the new batttery working excellent, charging quickly in 2 hrs, I changed my rating from 3 to 5.

14 Caller ID contrast fails
I bought a base unit and 3 extra handsets in Nov. 2003 for my home based business. Within a couple of months I had a problem with the caller ID contrast fading out on one handset whenever I tried to get it to display a previous call or on an incoming call. I shipped it back and Panasonic replaced it with a remanufactured one. In May 2004, 6 months after purchase, I had the same problem with another of the original handsets. I sent it back asking them to FIX it, NOT replace it, and to tell me exactly what the problem is, because I am now concerned that their product is unreliable and dont want to find this recurring with the other 2 handsets.
They replaced it with a remanufactured unit with no explanation of the problem. I called the Texas facility that shipped it to me, and they said they have no way of knowing what the problem was, they just receive and ship out units. I called the customer service number and they claimed it couldnt be a design or quality control defect or all four would have gone by now, and they also pointed out that the rest of the features were still working, both statements which I find to be ridiculous.
Any company manufacturing a complex product can have a design flaw or QC problem. I dont fault them for that. It's refusing to own up to the problem and making it right that burns me up. In my opinion, Panasonic should have recalled this model and replaced it with one that works, or else refunded customers full purchase price. This was a lot of money for me to invest in telephones, more than I've ever spent. As a result of this experience I will never buy another Panasonic product of any kind, ever again.
15 Pathetic Battery Life
My parent were upgrading their cord phone system and decided to go cordless with what Panasonic was offering as a wonderfull option. Now we have a complete system, but it only help make us run from one phone to the other and to the other in order to complete a 20 min call. Battery life is terrible, even after a 5 minute call the battery is dead. Panasonic should have had recall this product in order to conserve customer satisfaction. As another reviewer said: "more good money waste". I have another Panasonic battery system that require charging every 3 calls, which keep the phone always functionable.
16 Total Disappointment
After having several Panasonic phones and having been pleased with all I purchased the KX-TGA270S as part of an expandable phone system. The listed features are great however the battery life is pathetic (on average less than 15 min. on a full charge). If you don't put the phone back on the charging base after each call you will be lucky to complete two calls before getting the low battery warning. In addition the displays intermittently go blank. I have four phone in my system and all four do the same thing. I have spoken to at least 8 other people with these phones and all have the same problem. Panasonic says there is nothing wrong with the design. With 35 years in the electronics industry I can assure you there is a design defect that Panasonic does not want to admit. I would not recommend that you purchase this phone.
17 Satisfied with base unit, now buying extensions...
I bought the KX-TG2740S many months ago but I didn't buy any of the extensions at that time because of my concern over the battery life as reported by many. I have had no problems - recharge the battery in the handset every second or third or fourth day, as needed. It gives plenty of warning when the battery is failing (I look at that little graphic symbol to see where the charge is - one bar and I put it on the base before I go to bed to recharge). Since I've encountered no problems at all with the base or its' handset, I'm now buying a couple of the extensions. If they give me any problems, I'll let you know.
18 BAD BATTERY LIFE!!!!
This was and would be an excellent phone except for one thing - the battery life is horrible!!! I run a business from my home and want to be able to talk to my customers for more than 15 minutes without the phone dying and with this phone that can't be done! I have changed batteries, I have changed types of batteries, I have even followed the advice of another reviewer who suggested placing cardboard under the battery to insure contact. (For this much money I shouldn't have to use bits of cardboard to make my phone work!!!) And no - I don't have the booster on either! None of this has worked. After throwing this out I will NOT buy another Panasonic product. I had been a happy repeat customer until now! All in all - a great idea extremely poorly executed!!! Don't bother - this one is a MUST NOT buy!!!
19 Worst Phone I've Bought
Nice features, but all of that is over-ridden by the horrendous battery life. The phone is virtually useless due to the battery life. More good money down the toilet.......
20 No Need To Shout
Telephone reception is fine. The numbers separating this 2-line phone are so what small. I have not read the lengthy manual yet. It appears to have many features. Comfortable to hold. appearance goes great with my decor. We will probably purchase additional phones for other rooms in the house if this continues to perform well.
21 Great sound, seamless operation on phone system.
Excellent sound quality, seamless integration into my existing Panasonic KX phone system. I have had no battery problems in over a year of use. I highly recommend this extension unit and the Panasonic KX system for those who want a simple and expandable cordless phone system.
22 Speakerphone, mute button, and good sound quality
This phone is exactly what I was looking for -- speaker phone in the handset, mute button, good sound quality. Very happy with it. No battery problems at all (as some have mentioned), so maybe Panasonic has fixed this.
23 Great features, but.....
We have two of these phones and have the same battery life problems, having to switch to another phone during a long conversation, and they do not charge when the base says it is charging. Very frustrating - but we love the features style.
24 More Hassle than it is worth...price and time wise
okay so it has the features and can be used in a variety of places...but not only does the battery goes dead before the day is up, but the reception quality is very poor. We have been having lots of trouble with it clicking a lot during any conversation, whether handset to handset or outgoing calls, making a sort of noise suggesting the line could be tapped (even though we know it isn't. My brother has th 5.8 Uniden with dual handsets and it works perfectly, can even pick up calls with the best of clarity at approximately a 2 block radius from main base. Don't buy the Panasonic, buy Uniden.
25 So many features
I have to agree that the battery life leaves a little more to be desired. I bought the system, with 5 extra handsets, and I found myself switching handsets mid-conversation. I did charge for 15 hrs b4, and no luck. I bought all new batteries at a battery store, and have had great great working time since. The phones, wow, intercom, monitor, pager, and it works with the booster feature to the corner of the street. They also work as 2 way radios away from the base. I am sold on the product, Loved it since replacing the battery.
26 Excellent handset
As the phones in my house slowly begin to break or become obsolete, the ease with which I can add a handset to my "network" of telephones is great. I, unlike others, have not had any qualms with the battery life. Additionally, not having to plug the handset into a telephone jack has been extemely helpful, for I can move the handsets around the house easily, especially into rooms without a telephone jack. Also, the speaker phone capability is quite useful and is much better than on most handsets in its price range.
27 Had Battery Problems, but Found Easy Solution
I too like many other have experienced horrible battery problems with this phone. After some investigating, I found that the solution for my problem was inserting a piece of cardboard into the top of the battery compartment to forcibly push the battery against the springs. Since that, I have had no more charging problems.
28 Stay away. Battery life is terrible.
I agree with many of the prior reviewers, the battery life on my KX-TGA270S is now about 15 minutes. Started off ok, but no longer (have had phone for ~6 months).
I called Panasonic, they are sending a replacement battery for the phone, but judging by prior reviewers now, I am less than hopeful that this will fix the problem.
29 Worst phone Ever
The batter life is ridiculous. Panasonic sent me a replacemetn and it still dies after 15 minutes of use. Stay away from this phone! As we speak i'm waiting to speak with Panasonic to see if they have discontinued this item. Update later.
30 I don't understand how some of you don't have problems
I have five of these phones and a base unit. Without exception, each unit's battery gave problems within a few months. (And I did charge each of them 15 uninterrupted hours when starting and whenever they requested it.)
Now some won't light at all. On some the battery only goes up to 1 out of 3 bars. On others, it starts at 3 bars but drops to one bar about as quickly as you can get it to your ear.
If someone has a solution, please hint at it here.
31 Worst Battery Life
This phone has great reception (better than my old Sony phone). But it is a pile of garbage. The battery lasts about 15-30 minutes and then just dies!!! I bought a new battery at RadioShack thinking I had a faulty battery, wrong.
Do not buy this phone.
32 Bad battery or bad phone?
This phone is by far one of the best cordless phones on the market as far as features and reception. But it has the worst battery life I have ever seen on a cordless headset. Battery goes out after about 15 mins. of actual take time. I'm even afraid to use the speakerphone feature most of the time because I don't want to be cut off before I finish a whole conversation. I was a big Panasonic fan before I purchased this phone, but I would not even consider buying another phone from this company.
33 No battery problems...great system
Okay, I admit it: I was VERY leary of buying this phone. With not so stellar reviews from other owners, I was more than skeptical. But I am extremely happy with this phone system.
My search started with 5.8 GHz phones. Since we have a wireless network at home, I thought that these would be my best option. I was wrong. The components felt cheap and the reviews were less than stellar. A friend said that he hadn't had any problems with his wireless network/2.4 GHz phone, so I decided to look at these models.
I shopped online to find the best combination of price/features/performance/feel. Then I trucked on over to the local electronics store so I could take a look in person. Hands down, these had the best feel to them: substantial weight but not too heavy, nice bigh illuminated buttons and screen. I like the features as well...speakerphone, headset jack, mute, call transfer, address book, caller id, 2-way radio....etc etc
Now for the shortfalls: the antennae is too big, the entire handset is a little on the large size (when you clip the thing to your belt it gets in the way)...the address books don't automatically synchronize...and (this is minor)...each handset acts as it's own caller ID. If you view calls from one phone, it doeesn't 'know' on the other handsets. The 2 way radio feature seems useless since you can intercom from phone to phone (but since I purchased it I changed my mind - we used these to communicate in a car caravan, we saved on cell phone minutes!! But we had to remember the base to recharge for the next day back)
Anyway, that aside I must say that I LOVE this phone. I work from home and am talking on the phone at least 4 hours a day. I have had no problems with battery life. In fact, we purchased two more handsets.
I recommend this system to all my co-workers and friends looking for a new cordless phone system. Goodluck on your phone search!
34 The Worst Battery Life I've Ever Seen
I bought this phone about 6 months ago and I agree with all the users here that this could be a great phone in terms of features, but the battery issues make the phone so impossible to deal with, I'm ready to throw it out the window. As others have mentioned if you leave the phone out of the cradle for even a couple of hours or if you have a long phone call, the batteries immediately die. If you try to charge it, sometimes the phone never charges. You pick it up after 12 hours of charging and the low battery indicator is still on. Gave the same system to my parents, and they have the same problem. Could have been great...
35 Great features but Terrible Battery life -4-5 mos after buy
If I had reviewed this phone soon after I had bought it (first 2-4 months), I would have given it at least 4 stars because of the features and pretty good battery time. However as time went on, battery life has deteriorated to a point that it is a joke. Sometimes we get just 20 minutes without speaker phone. I have both a speaker phone/base station and an extension set. The extension is worse, but the base station is the same in terms of battery life. So if you see 4 or 5 stars in the rating by some Amazon reviewer for this phone, you know it is someone who just recently bought the phone; if you seee 1 star, it is someone like me, who Panasonic has nicely fleeced but has finally figured it out!!!
36 Battery life terrible
Everything is fine with this phone / system except battery life. Ugh. I've owned it less than a year and I'm going to buy another phone system today because I'm sick of terrible battery performance.
37 Best Panasonic Yet
I have owned several previous Panasonic's before, and this one is by far the best yet. The user interface is more intuitive, the sound quality is great, and after about a year I have yet to drop a call. As for the battery, I have not timed the battery life, but have had no problems on any of my 3 extensions. I have had absoultley no reliability problems. I especially appreciate the ease in copying the phone number list between the different extensions.
38 Battery life problems
It may be a fluke, but I have had battery problems with this phone. It was so bad that I could not complete a call without the phone discharging. I was very careful not to recharge the phone without the battery discharging so as not to decrease battery life. Still, this is the second phone I have gone through in less than a year. I have spent hours on the phone with Panasonic trying to fix the problem. Panasonic replaced the phone twice with refurbished models and still the battery life is horrible. We looked into having the settings wrong to just a bad battery. I am now trying the newer model with the NiMHd battery instead of the NiCd. Let's see how this works. I am very disappointed with the customer service offered by Panasonic. Warranty means that they will only replace the phone with a refurbished model. This is true even if the phone dies withing the first month.
39 Mines been fine!!
I can sympathize with the people who have had battery problems, as I had to replace the battery in my KX-TG2730S base unit not to long after I bought it.
I have had one of the KX-TGA270S extensions since last year and haven't had a problem with it. I'm going to be ordering 2 more.
The only gripe I have about these phones is that I'm not crazy about the cheap looking silver paint (I don't like the white either), and I wish the directories were one button accessible.
40 I don't know what everyone else's problem is
Maybe they don't have realistic expectations, I have owned this phone for more than a month, and have not had any problems. The battery lasts well, the base is easy to use. I would and have reccommended this phone to others.
41 Great Features--Terrible battery.
I love the features of this phone but the batteries that come with it make it unusable. The phone will tell you there is plenty of battery left and then BAM! right in the middle of a phone call it goes dead. I replaced the NiCd batteries it shipped with with some NiMh batteries from batteries.com and it has worked flawlessly since then. With better batteries, this would be a five star phone easily. Make sure to add $20 to the price of this phone because that's what you'll spend on a workable battery.
42 worst phone I ever bought
This has to be the worst phone I ever bought. This was my first time trying a panasonic phone and I have to say I will not be buying a panasonic brand telephone again. The battery will not stay charged more then 1-2 days. Forget using speaker phone because it will drain the battery life to none. This phone is not worth the money. Its not even worth the 1 star rating.
43 Battery life is poor.
Battery life is terrible. They need a lithium ion battery for this phone. Get out of the old technology.
44 AWFUL. BATTERY LIFE MAKES IT UNUSABLE.
I have had this phone for almost a year, and am about to throw it away - the battery lasts for about half an hour, and then dies. Others have complained about this too, and yet panasonic has done nothing? Unacceptable. And to make matters worse, I have, in the middle of a conference call, placed the handset (with a self-declared, imminently-failing battery), on the charger in hopes that it would charge while the conference call was ongoing.
It hung up.
GRRRRRRR! This is not what technology should be about. Instead of adding frustration, it should enable. This system is a great big GOOSE-EGG.
DO NOT BUY IT.
45 Good, But I Still Want Better
A nice system overall, but not nearly perfect. We purchased a set of these to replace our burnt out Siemens Gigaset 2402 system. While we were happy to have something that worked...the features and design of this system leave much to be desired. Numerous minor inconveniences and awkwardnesses make these phones less than they could be--nothing major, and perhaps only noticeable when compared with the excellently designed Siemens phones (really nothing more than the difference between Japanese and German design).
Two features stand out in comparison with our retired Siemens phones, one negative and one positive. On the positive side, these phones support detection of voice messages on an existing message system, so that it is easy to see from any handset whether there are unplayed messages on either line. On the negative side, the system does not support handset naming. We imagined this would be a minor inconvenience when we bought the phones, but it has proved to be a major drawback: there's simply no way to get the entire family to learn what number goes with what phone. When we had the Siemens system, which supports handset naming, the we had a working intercom system (not to mention convenient transfers of calls); now we're back to shouting.
46 Much Better Than Siemens
Purchased this as a replacement for a wireless multi handset set-up from Siemens. Works very well. Good value compared to others. Recommended.
47 Disappointed Consumer
This is the worst phone ever. Features are cool but battery life is 2 hours if that. It is constantly dropping calls and person on the other end goes in and out. Callers always ask if I'm on a cell phone because the reception is so bad. I have yet to have one conversation that is satisfactory. The booster does nothing. I HATE this phone and am ready to throw it out the window. Do not make the same mistake -- Stay away from this system!!
48 Battery life stinks!
I have three of these phones including the base unit and guess what? The battery life on all three lasts a maximum of 30 minutes. I have called Panasonic and they are aware of this defect, yet have not recalled the phones. I was told to send them in to their service center for repair. According to the rep the defect is in the handset battery contact with the charger.
To all you would be purchasers of this product, perhaps Panasonic has remedied the problem. But if they have not then BUYER BEWARE!!!!
49 What Did We Do Without This?
I can't share enough of the positive things about this phone system. My husband and I are so pleased with it. Our favorite feature is the intercom system, which has been a lung-saver in our house --allowing us to just call each other rather than roam around the house and holler.
I find other comments about battery life unfounded, and wonder if these individuals had the phone on "booster" -- which, if you read the manual, will improve your signal but drain the battery quickly. I have yet to experience the need to put the phone on booster (and we live in a rural area), and have not had a battery run dead while talking. I usually recharge the phones every 2-3 days.
I also like the fact that the handset comes with a speaker phone. A great feature when trying to manage the kids, dinner and talk.
The ringer selections are great too -- providing a wide variety. (Finally a phone that doesn't jolt you out of a deep sleep!)
Program your phone numbers in one phone and press just a couple buttons to transfer that directory to another. No more searching for the address book!
Reception has been flawless. Operation and programing easy, easy, easy. This one is a must buy!
50 Only 20 minute talk time?
Great features. I like it very much except...The battery goes after only 20-30 minutes talk time! I have seen others reccomend several charge cycles before the battery life is good, but I have seen no improvement. I don't know if the problem is the battery, or the phone. I often have conference calls well over an hour, so for my application this phone is useless.
For those wishing to reduce their time on the phone and their phone bill, perhaps this is a good phone.
51 Battery problems
I have both the base phone and the KX-TGA270S unit, both purchased new within the last 4 months. I have had problems with both handsets when they were installed in the 270S charging unit. During several calls the battery has completely discharged causing the line to go dead. Other than this, I think this is an excellent phone.
52 The best phone....period.
This phone is the best there is...all the features you want and more...and its clear as a bell. No problems with wireless networks either. It costs the most but its worth it just not to have to return all the other junk phones out there.
53 A winner
It seems that I have been buying a new phone every year trying to find one that does everything well. I can finally stop my search, this Panasonic fits the bill. The sound quality is superb, on the handset, speakerphone, and headset. I have yet to have an unclear conversation due to signal strength. My only two criticisms concernsthe ergodynamics of the phone, but that is a problem with the entire segment and the caller ID menu has one layer too many. I have not had any of the problems that the previous reviewer had.
54 Panasonic Model KX-TGA270S Cordless Phone Handset
I have used many brands of cordless telephones and find the Panasonic Model KX-TGA2700 Expandable base and the Panasonic Model KX-TGA270S Cordless Phone Handset to be very good. I have not experienced any of the problems that Mr. Naduwilage has encountered, although I have not tried the headset feature.
Overall, I have find the performance to be excellent, the features convenient and the price acceptable. I am ordering another handset today.
55 Better than Siemens
I just purchased the TGA2740 (the 2-line version of the TGA2730) and am very happy with my purchase. I bought this system to replace the Siemens Gigaset system that I had been using. The sound quality on the phones is tremendous and the built-in speaker phone is fantastically convenient. I only see one other review for this product here, but I am not finding the same issues with the product that the other reviewer noted. I would highly recommend this phone system to anyone looking for an affordable, expandable cordless system. The only area for opportunity that I could offer Panasonic is to allow one to "name" the extension handsets (i.e. "Kitchen", "Living Room", etc) instead of having to remember which extension number corresponds to which cordless handset.
56 The worst cordless Panasonic ever produced!
I am a Panasonic fan when it comes to cordless phones. I have used over ten Panasonics over the years since the introduction of cordless phone. I purchased this because of the reputation Panasonic had build on me. But I was wrong! This Phone is not a "Panasonic". I can barely hear the other party-I don't have any hearing problem-even at full level of volume. if I connect it to a headset there is a hum. My friends ask me if I am in propeller plane. The biggest disappointment is the battery. You won't believe this, but, this phone needs to be charged every 2 days. I don't use this phone at all (because of above reasons) but the battery goes COMPLETELY EMPTY IN 2 DAYS.
Don't waist your money, this phone is useless!
