With the Panasonic KX-TM150B, you'll enjoy the quality of all-digital recording--the unit uses a microchip to handle messages for quiet, easy operation. Total recording time is 15 minutes (flash memory). Caller ID compatibility shows the name and number of incoming callers. It also displays caller ID data with each message during message playback.

With a 50-station caller ID memory and dialer, and a multifunction, 3-line LCD display, the KX-TM150B shows you all of the caller ID information without scrolling. Advanced microchip technology means improved voice recording quality over previous models. Voice prompts and a time/day stamp guide you through your messages. Remote control lets you control the greeting message, all message playback, and individual erase using a touch-tone phone. Call-screening toll-saver means that when you're checking messages from a remote location, the system will answer on the first ring only if you have new messages. If not, you can hang up and avoid toll charges. The unit also permits two-way recording.

1 Great quality, please disregard incorrect information...
For the reviewer who commented that the display was soft plastic and scratched easily, it should have been completely obvious that this was only a tear-off protective covering for the real hard plastic display. The display is excellent, very sturdy, and I have yet to scratch it.

My only criticism is that all of the digital machines these days have poor high frequency response (due to low bit-rate recording and poor antialiasing) which makes softer voices or those who mumble a little bit hard to understand. This machine is no different, I also own a GE digital and find some people are completely unintelligible.

However this machine offers FAR superior features to any other digital machine I've used, is more intuitive (like a cassette machine), and does sound quite good for most voices. I actually find it's sound to be better than my GE even though I've read otherwise by some people. I think some people think louder is better (which can be I suppose), but I prefer intelligibility. Actually I like both, but that is hard to find with digital machines under $100.
2 Not up to usual Panasonic quality
I've had a couple of Panasonic answering machines over the last 25 years, and they all seemed to be built of high-quality materials. But as soon as I unpacked this one I saw what appeared to be a big scratch mark across the LCD display panel cover. When I rubbed it with a soft cloth to see if it might be a grease mark instead, it only caused another mark along side it.

My previous two Panasonic answering machines had a hard plastic cover over their displays - I don't know why they changed to soft plastic on this one.

So I returned it for a refund.
3 It does the job
This machine was fairly easy to set up. I like it when the instructions are clear, and these are. When I read the other reviews, I noticed that some people pointed out that it's necessary to not speak too close to the microphone when recording the greeting -- I heeded that warning, and everything has worked just fine. I really like the feature of the machine holding the last 50 phone numbers of callers -- my old answering machine only held one. My only quibble is that the LED display is just a bit small, and I have to hold it just so in order to read it. That problem may be solved by getting a new pair of glasses. :)
4 Not Bad for $ 35.00 USD
Hey, I did order this one and it was the last one left on Amazon for $34.99 with free shipping TO BOOT. It got here in less than 48 Hrs. As for the sound quality, not much different from the Panasonic "tape" machine that crapped out on me after 14 years. While recording your greeting, don't get too close to the mic, which is hidden under where it says mic on the bottom of this unit, over-modulation ( distortion ) generally, a bad sounding greeting will be the result. It works fine and the poor sound others have mentioned is false. Works just fine, if you need a $1000.00 machine, go buy one !!!! GREAT DEAL FOR THE MONEY SPENT !! Voice prompts built into this device are an easy setup and playback from remote calls. The only drawback is Only 15 Min. of rec. time. Thats good for me, maybe not you. On the road the "voice prompts" prompt you for anything you want to do from listening to messages, to totally wiping them all out. No real need to carry a remote command card in your wallet/purse, it asks you what you want to do. You can skip old calls and get to "only" the new ones as well. BEST BUY FOR THE BUCKS !! VERY EASY TO USE !!!
5 Satisfied. But there is room for improvement...
I had this machine for about a month now.
Just two things that I don't like:

The sound could be improved. I can certanly understand the messages but my former 10 year old tape based answering machine sounded better.

It would be nice if they added a built in light in the Caller ID screen (like in cell phones)

Other than that not bad for what it costs.

6 Very poor sound quality
It has very nice features but the sound quality is very poor. You can't hear a thing. It is very muffled. I am going to try the AT&T 1760 Digital Answering System and see if that is any better.
7 Easy to use, excellent quality
I must confess that I am prompted to write this review mainly because my experiences with the Panasonic KX-TM150B telephone answering machine are in sharp contrast to some of the other users' stated findings.
My main disagreement is in the matter of the unit's ease of use. Although this is a highly subjective area to comment on, I believe that here in the 21st century we can make a few generalized assumptions and judgements about the user interfaces of consumer electronics products, because we now have a fairly long history of consumer products with which to compare against.
When you consider the spectacular array of useful features that this device provides, I feel that it would be extremely difficult to design it with a more straightforward layout. All of the buttons are clearly labeled, and the LCD display as well as voice prompts guide you through all of the setup and operation functions. If someone finds the labeling and pleasant voice prompts insufficient, the instruction manual that comes with the unit takes every setup and operational function and provides a crystal-clear step-by-step guide that anyone who can read English at the fourth-grade level and above will have absolutely no problem in comprehending.
The frequently-used buttons are quite large, and the less-used setup buttons are smaller, as one would logically expect. ALL buttons are placed over 1/2 inch apart when measured from their centers. I would very much like to meet a person who is unable to press the buttons independently, as this person would likely need to be about fourteen feet tall in order to have fingers that are so large as to be unable to independently press the buttons.
Anyone who is still unsure about the unit's ease of use is welcome to download a free .pdf copy of the instruction manual at Panasonic's website. I am confident that a quick glance at the manual will alleviate any fears that may remain regarding this unit's stunningly simple and logical control layout.

Regarding the unit's overall quality, it is in keeping with Panasonic's well-deserved reputation for excellence in consumer products. After several months of use it has yet to have the slightest problem or generate any error whatsoever.
Naturally, when you have a company like Panasonic that produces millions of products every year, every now and then one might have a problem. If you are the unlucky person who gets the extremely rare defective unit, just return it to Amazon and let them help you with a replacement....pretty simple, right?
Buy it with confidence.

8 Don't like it.
I just bought one. Just by looking at it, I agree with one reviewer that it's perhaps one of the least intuitive answering machines out there. The buttons are also too small. I mean this is a stand-alone answering machine, why is it designed in a way that is less generous than even many integrated answering machines on some telephones? Having said these--you probably wonder why I base my judgement on simlpy how it LOOKS--I admit that I have not used it. Why? Because the one I just bought does not work! After everything was set up, connecting to wall jack and telephone, plugging in the AC adapter, there's no light, NOTHING, no matter which button I press. I got a defective item. Perhaps it's not Panasonic's fault, as I ordered it from an online co. (not Amazon.com). I have reason to suspect they shipped me a reburbished one. This is the time when you don't take Amazon.com for granted. Had I ordered it from Amazon.com, I may not only get a functional machine, but also didn't have to stay home whole day expecting the UPS delivery that showed up at the end of the day. Without doubt this review has an emotional side.
9 More excellent features than you'd ever guess
This machine does everything I ever wanted, and more:

Have you ever had to wade through 20 saved messages,
one by one, on other machines, just to get to the
very last one, which you wanted to hear again?

Panasonic's KX-TM150B lets you go immediately
to the very last message, if you want,
and then work your way backwards -- I've never
seen so handy a feature on any other machine.

Many other machines force you to play an entire
message all over again if you missed something
that you wanted to write down, but this machine
has controls that make it behave just like a
cassette tape machine -- hold down "rewind"
and it backspaces, release the button
and you hear the backspaced section again;
fast-forward plays at 2X normal speed;
you can also just "pause" and resume again
(to catch up as you take notes, for example).

If you've ever been frustrated by slow operations
on other brands (e.g. Sony), compounded by long,
droning announcements that you can't skip,
you'll like the fact that every operation here
is instantaneous, and you can always interrupt
any operation to do another instead.

The 50-memory Caller ID matches up with each recorded
message, and lets you dial back automatically at any time.

Did you know that you can edit the
saved Caller-ID numbers to adjust for different local
dialing rules (and up to two different local area codes)?

During any live phone conversation,
if someone is about to tell you some information that you'll
need to write down, don't reach for a pencil -- just press
"2-way record," let the caller talk, and re-play it later.

The number of rings before answering can be set to
2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or Toll-Saver(2/4)

The voice menus and prompts are very intelligent,
both for direct and remote operations.

I've installed four of these in different places,
and I've found the sound quality to be as uniformly good
as any consumer digital answering machine I've ever seen
in this price range -- perfectly clear speech, far better sound
than previous models, so when I read other reviews complaining
of bad sound, I wonder whether they bought damaged or refurbished
goods, or had they poured cola into it, perhaps?

Flash memory saves messages indefinitely, even if AC
power fails, and these Panasonics even remember the date
and accurate time for power failures up to five minutes.

I have experienced over two years of flawless performance
from four different units (two KX-TM100B without Caller ID
two KX-TM150B with caller ID); good job as usual, Panasonic!

10 Keep shopping
Quite possibly the least intuitive answering machine possible--it's as though they wanted to design a product that would be confusing and frustrating.
11 Decent unit for the first year
This unit is nothing fancy but worked fine for the first year. The caller ID screen is small and difficult to read without proper lighting. After a year the recorded messages were choppy and difficult to understand. Repair from Panasonic would cost more than the unit itself.
12 Basic Answering Machine That Works
The machine works well and very easy to operate.
You need to learn a few buttons and you are up and running.
The greeting message quality is excellent.
The machine provides caller ID info which is very nice. You can also re-dial numbers from the caller ID info.
You can check your messages while out from remote phones.
The messages are stored in memory and do not delete with
a power failure.
The speaker quality is good but not great. However, I am very happy with the outgoing greeting message and that is what everyone hears.
Overall, a good investment.
13 Nothing Special
it's just your basic answering maching.
i didn't like the fact that it doesn't start
screening until someone leaves a message.
no outgoing message screening.

the little viewing screen is very hard to read.
i bought it used, and it sounded like the little speaker had been blown out.
terrible sound.

i don't know if we're allowed to call products junk, or not.
but if i knew i could, on this one i would.
