Get dynamic, full-bodied surround sound from a stylish, compact, high-quality system with Panasonic's SC-HT75. The system consists of a compact audio/video receiver coupled with a five-disc DVD-Video/DVD-Audio changer, a five-channel speaker package, and a 135-watt powered subwoofer.
With the AV receiver, the convenience of Dolby Digital and DTS surround processing as well as compatibility with high-resolution DVD-Audio is provided. DVD-Audio discs provide multichannel and stereo sound, incredible storage capacity, and unique bonus materials not available on regular audio CDs.
The DVD player also plays recordable CDs full of MP3 music files, giving you the ability to load the changer with more than 50 consecutive hours of near-CD-quality music. For movies, Panasonic's dialogue enhancer makes human voices more intelligible, a great feature for late-night viewing when you want to keep the sound low but still follow what's being said. A 10-bit, 27 MHz video digital-to-analog converter ensures clear, vivid images from discs.

1 2 years and then repairs
It has been about two years since I purchased this HT system and I now stand a dissapointed man. I can only assume this system is no longer in production and it is probably a good thing. I have never owned any type of home theater system prior to owning the HT75 so of course I was blown away by the sound and quality of the sound. Fortunately I already owned a 300w amplified 10" subwoofer to make up for the lack of bass from the measly little 135w sold with the system. My family and I enjoyed countless dvd's watched on the system while it was in operation. However, there were many times when the dvd player would freeze up and shut off. I thought it was just a dirty disk but numerous times I took out whatever disk was in play, cleaned it, put it back in and still wound up with a freeze up at some point or another. I was always pleased with the sound quality but there again I have never had exposure to anything better, except the local movie theater. I felt operation was easy as well as setup but the remote was quirky if used for multiple operations such as the TV and VCR. I also didn't like the delay when loading a DVD considering the sony we have in the bedroom is 10x's faster. All in all it has been a good system for the power and price but finally the quality of the product has truly shown its colors. As of a little over a week ago my SC-HT75 bit the dust. While enjoying a little time with my PS2 the darned thing shut down with no warning. At first I thought I had sat on the remote or my son was messing with the remote but that wasn't the case. When I pressd the power button to turn it back on the red/green led power indicator lit up green but the system display posted a "F61" error code then it shut back down. The code means there is some sort of problem with either the speaker connections or a power supply component has gone bad. Well as it turns out, mine must be the latter since it doesn't work with all speaker wires disconnected. I have found that it may be nothing more than a $15 part failure plus labor to fix but I have decided to invest the expense into a whole new system consisting of separate audio/video components. I may at some point have it repaired and sell it off but I would highly recommend to anyone looking into this system or any other Panasonic system to do a bit of research before putting down the money for such a questionable system.
2 Piece of junk!!!
Like the other reviewer of this system, I bought it and in less than 1 year it stopped reading DVDs and CDs. The repairs on it was estimated to nearly $200, but the service provider said he couldn't get the parts so I was better off buying a new player altogether.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT!!!!!!!!! STAY AWAY FROM PANASONCIC PRODUCTS!! Poor quality and worse costumer service.
3 good buy
i have had this system for 2 years now and it has been fabulous.Although by now i have used to the excellent sound quality, i remember watching pearl harbour & mummy 2. it was sensational.one of my friends bought it as well (after seeing mine, copycat!)his player sometimes freezes up. bad disc probably
4 Poor quality, bad customer support!
My wife and I bought this for our Christmas present. Five months later, after watching a couple DVDs a month, it would no longer read any DVDs or CDs. We called Panasonic, and they told us to take it in to their local certified repair shop. I took it in, and right as I walked to the door, the guy said he knew what the problem was because they had the same problem on a lot of the units, and he pointed to his back wall, which had a lot of this exact same model.
A *MONTH* later, after several phone calls back and forth, the repair people tell me that they can't get the parts they need to fix this DVD player, and that I need to call Panasonic and ship it back to them. I call Panasonic, and they told me that their repair people were supposed to send it in for me, since this is obviously a warranty repair. I expected the repair people to just take care of this for me.
So my wife calls the repair company, TV Unlimited in Sunnyvale and tells them what Panasonic said. They said they didn't want to deal with the shipping hassle, and hung up on my wife!!!
We called Panasonic and I explained to them that it is not right for me to have to pay $$$ or so to ship a defective unit back to them because their local repair facility was too lazy to do it. So they said they would have an area supervisor contact me.
It has now been two months without our DVD player!!! I am *NEVER* going to buy a Panasonic product again if I can avoid it because of their poor quality and customer service!
5 Where is my stuff?
Placed order on the 6th. Today is the 11th. Product was supposed to ship 1-2 days. I have recieved NO shipping information.
6 Great System from a Brand You Can Trust
After doing a good amount of studying on different home theater packages, I finaly dicided to bring home the SC-HT75 because of my good luck with Panasonic products and I am very glad that I did. I have had the system for over a year and have had no problems with it what so ever. I have been using it daily and it performs great.
The 5 disc DVD player works nicely and I have played many CD's and DVD's and it has worked just fine and it never had any flaws. I tested other DVD players in the store and they all seemed to take awile to read a disc. This player loads quit quickely. The DVD player also plays DVD AUDIO disks which not to many systems can play. DVD AUDIO is a fairly new type of disc. These discs feature high resolution multichannel sound with a wide frequeny range. I do own a few of these discs and they sound amazing. The tuner also works well and you can preset 12 stations.
The sound is very clean and powerful. I recently found out that the reciever has an H+ class amplifier which is high end. The passive subwoofer runs at 170 watts in home theater mode and produces powerful deep bass for having a 6 and 3/4 inch woofer. The small plastic 1-way sattlite speakers are powerful and do sound nice for movies but are not the best for listening to music. I recently relaced the left and right main speakes. I dis connected the SB-AFC95's and hooked up two SB-PM11 2-way 6-ohm Panasonic speakers which are part of the SC-PM11 mini system. They fit in great with the other silver speakers There was an obvious increase in sound quality over the little speakers.
The main unit itself has a silver finish and a cool display. I do know what sounds good and what does not sound good. This is a high quality system and is better than most. I am totally, absolutely satisfied.
7 sounds good
Panasonic SC HT 75 is overall a good sound system . Bass is deep & well extended as compared to other like priced systems . Some what weak in high notes / frequencies . Lacks a bit on shrills & high frquency sound effects . Not a too loud system but quality wise it does holds you . In a modest priced systems it is much much better than others .
8 AWESOME!
This system is great, I have no problem with it whatsoever, and I bought it 3 months ago, very nice look, easy set-up and great sound. Highly recommended for those who don't want to spend a lot, but get high quality.
9 Awesome for the price!!
I got this system more than a month back, and have used it extensively since. It works great for a small home theater system (I live in an apartment, so the sound is just great!!). May not work very well for large rooms, but I dont know. I have a 15x15 room, and the sound is just great.
It was extremely simple to set up too!!
Overall, great value for the money. Would recommend for anyone not looking for a high-end system, at the same time want home theater sound.
10 very nice:)
i bought it at costco for 250 bucks...excellent sound, excellent picture. i have yet to have any of the rumored tech problems that are posted, and ive had it about 4 months. the downsides are the 45 seconds it takes to change the disc, lack of vidoe inlets, and inability to tune the radio on the remote to a non preset station. other then that, it is great:)
11 impressive and not so impressive
I bought this system for its good looks and great sound quality. This system sounds really good. I did some research "online" and found that techies(techTV)recommend this system for its overall performance. I agree with their judgement. If one has a reasonable sized room, this system is a must.
But there is a problem. I am big on mp3's and this system is not too good reading it. I am still trying to figure out the reason why it plays some mp3 loaded CD's and not others???
The remote for this system is horrible. Since I am good at adjusting to stupid designs and navigations, I will get used to it.
Overall, if you want to watch DVD's and play CD's, this is the system. Excellent sound and good Bass...nicely priced.
12 avoid this system
i bought one of these (not from amazon.com), i should add) and a week out of warranty, it stopped playing DVDs. a few months later it stopped playing even CDs, rendering it completely useless. it's now nothing more than the most expensive radio i've ever bought. i've also found out that this is a common problem, so i'd avoid this system altogether if i were you.
13 Great system for beginners, great price
I saved up enough money and wanted to buy a home theater system. I did not want something to break my windows but has good sound. This player was the one. It was truely great. The first movie I watched was Star Wars Episode I and it was ausome. Great for starters and for the price. It also hooks up to digital cable which is also cool. Recomended
14 6Months later...
After 6 months of use I believe that this was a great value system. The comments posted about the MP3 limitations were right on. But overall it was well worth the money and I am very happy with it.
15 Good for the price, weak on MP3's
I have had no trouble with the system, and think it sounds and works quite well for the price. I have had it for two weeks now. It does not reproduce deep bass well, but for this price, that would be a lot to ask. It also is not progressive scan and does not have component video out, though it does have s-video out. I would not complain about that as Panasonic is upfront that it is not progressive scan, and for this price, who could expect it? Two complaints; 1) It is weak on MP3 functionality. It does not have on screen folder and title selection for MP3 discs. So when I put my disc in with 12 folders and 125 songs, I have to select tracks by number only. 1, 2, 3, . . . 124, 125. There is nothing to tell me the song title or even what folder within the disc the song lives in. Also no shuffle play or song lists for songs on an audio cd. 2) It does not have adequate tone control. It has a nice digital reverb/sound field emulator, just no direct control of even bass and treble that I have found. Good value, that's it.
16 Wonderful system for the price!
I've had the system for about 2 weeks now and I love it! The sound quality is exceptional regardless of what function you are using it for. I highly recommend this system for anyone shopping for a home theater system. I couldn't be more satisfied!
17 This System Is Lame.
A good friend of ours bought this set-up last week. Tomorrow
he's taking it back. Our 200 watt Koss C220 sounds much better,
and it's 125 bucks cheaper. Both were made in China, where else
could a system so cheap be made? Save your money and buy the Koss. If you want a real system, spend around five grand.
18 Think twice
I bought this system over the weekend. It worked for a couple hours, then it started to freeze up. It wasn't able to read ANY dvd's or cd's, it wouldn't let me change the cd or even open it. Luckily after turning it off and on a few times I was able to get all of my cd's out. I assumed I had just gotten a "bad one" and went back and exchanged it for the same model, minutes after hooking it up I was having the exact same problems.
19 Very good value
This is my first home theater system. Set-up was as easy as could be. The most time consuming part of set-up was routing the speaker wires. The sound and picture quality are superb and I have yet to find a disc format that this system will not play.
20 Good enough
This system offers high quality sound at a budget. If you are looking for a starter home theater system, this is a great choice.
21 Excellent system--except for one point
This is an excellent system, incredible sound, easy setup. But there is a glaring omission. No digital audio input for digital cable or satellite. Just analog. That means you cannot experience full 5.1 surround on digital cable or satellite, just DVD.
22 A great system for the price
My wife and I bought our SC-HT75 over the weekend at Best Buy (our old DVD player gave up the ghost on Friday) and we could not be happier. The SC-HT75 was a breeze to set up and within 30 minutes (mainly spent removing the four components that this system replaced) we were up and watching DVDs again. There are a couple of issues that I have with this system, the one-at-a-time disc loading tray is a cumbersome pain, and the lack of cable/satalite controls on the remote is another, but the sound more than makes up for it. Our den now sounds better than the local movie theater, and for that the price is more than worth it.
23 Recommendation ...
Recommended ... as a START-UP home theater system for 3-dimensional surround music experience in terms of DTS music disc and DVD-Audio capabilities ...
24 Easy Set Up
This system is surprisingly easy to set up!
Overall sound is very goog for DVD's.
Good for CD's but listening to the TV through this system has proven to be somewhat of a challenge.
25 sound's good to me
This is a very good system for a non-techy. I have found that the surround sound is adequate while the overall sound is quite good. For the $, its definitely worth it.
